Hi! I have been a huge fan of your art for a long while now; I hope this isn't terribly, horribly rude but do you know when/if commissions will be open again?
It's totally fine if the answer is "not for a long time/ever", I'm just curious because I would love to commission you one day.

Don't worry, I don't think this is a rude question! Hopefully the response isn't more than u bargained for.
Alas though, the truest answer is also the vaguest: I'm not??? Sure??
Rather, I'd like to open them again, but I need to be thoughtful about how and when I do it.
recently, the internet landscape has helped shed some light on the subject of ADHD, how it affects people, what forms it can take, and i have had some revelations regarding my relationship to it.
namely that i very . very likely,,, have it.
not sure why it never occurred to me despite having siblings and cousins with it, but either way.
What matters here is that sometimes, my brain constructs a wall of agony around doing a commission. Seemingly at random, it'll hit me with a constant button press of "not gonna! wrong! stop!" I never understood why. I had previously thought that I'd just been having some sort of temporary funk, and that one day I'd wake up and it would just. not be there. Y'know, like my executives would function.
So... it has been common for some very patient, sweet, compassionate commissioners to have waited months, even years before they received what they'd rightfully paid for.
... I hate that I'm capable of that. I don't want to be That Guy.
After having recontextualized the problem from 'temporary haze' to 'state of being' it's been easier to recognize what I need to do.
If I open commissions again, I need to figure out a way to keep ADHD brain from forming walls around the task. One thing I've decided for certain is that I've gotta switch to a multi-payment method. Ergo, the commissioner would pay a little up front, and the rest when I finish. Other than that though, I've been drawing a blank.
Until I get that settled, my commission status will remain in limbo.

• This guy is a snacker
• Take one look at him. You can't tell me that he doesn't constantly skip out on meals in favor of research, usually just pulling a granola bar or stained tupperware from his desk drawer to eat while he works
• Don't get me wrong, Lars can still devour a good bit of food. Sometimes you like to make fun of him for how much good he'll get on his face in the process
• "You're looking at me weird." He frowned at you one day from behind the rims of his glasses
• "Uh, yeah. Wonder why." You grin with mild surprise, watching as leftover rice and beans from the burrito in his hands stuck to the corners of his mouth like glue. He was quick to wipe it all off, ignoring you as you laughed at him
• Aside from that, Lars usually keeps his workplace pretty clean. It's cluttered, sure, but you don't think you've ever seen him wonder where something went. He just always knew where things were. It was like he had a system in his head, and the more you thought about it, the more you decided he definitely did
• The one time someone had even tried to clean his place up, you watched as he immediately jumped in, convincing them that they were needed elsewhere and sending them off before they could mess with his set-up
• Often times, when it's just the two of you alone in the offsight lab, you'll bounce a tennis ball off the wall while Lars types away, only ever looking up to squint at you when the ball gets to close to his head
• "You should really give that to the possesor. I'm sure it'd appreciate it." He hums to you at one point while spinning around in his chair to reach something. Behind you, you hear the unmistakable sound of a metal chair tapping excitedly on glass, and you make a tsking noise
• "Pretty sure you just want me to stop distracting you with my awesome skills." You boast, attempting to do a trickshot only to smack Lars in the back. He glares at you, and you inch backward with a nervous chuckle
• "You know what, I think I'll give it to the possesor."
• "What a brilliant idea." Lars says monotonely. You were quick to get rid of the ball
• He hums while he works!
• It's not anything discernable. In fact, most of the time he isn't even singing real songs. Just little tunes he'll make up on the spot for himself; often as a way to pass the time and make minute tasks fly by
• You notice it quite a lot, but don't really say anything. It's quite entertaining, if you're being truthful
• "Sittin' and waitin' for food. Sittin' and waitin' for food.." He'd improvised once while waiting yet again for a t.v dinner of his to finish its cycle in the labs shared microwave
• "Wow Lars. Voice of an angel, you have."
• "Stuff it."
• Lars doesn't often need help with his work, there's a reason he landed the job after all, but when he does, you're always the first person he goes to. It's a side effect of having spent so much time with you at work, and even outside of it—if you counted lunch breaks and independent experiments as a non-work environment
• He likes being able to get a fresh set of eyes on whatever's stumping him, and it usually doesn't take long for the two of you to work around whatever was holding him up
• Overall, you couldn't think of a better friend/co-worker to have, and the same applies for Lars. Your relationship will only strengthen as time goes on, even withstanding the bizzar experiences that Garraka eventually brings later that year
• But that's for much later. Right now, the two of you are content to sit in the aquarium-turned-headquarters, watching as the hours ticked by without a care in the world

what companions would be furries (+ what kind of animal they'd be)
Cait; Incredible trauma. Substance abuse. Questionable employment. This woman already is a furry in canon, Todd just didn't think it relevant to bring up. Not quite hardcore, but not a casual either. She has art and goes to conventions, but she's not getting a suit. There are a lot of good choices for a fursona, but I'm leaning towards a wolverine. They're small and they're fucking terrifying. Those bitches kill bears. They weigh about 30 lbs, give or take. Y'know what else is 30 lbs, give or take? A COCKER SPANIEL. Huge Cait energy.
Codsworth; Would not be a furry, but would find it endearing. Y'know, the same reaction an adult has as a child talks about their wolf roleplay during recess? "I am very confused but at least you have friends and fun, tell me more!" Robot Codsworth's fursona is an octopus, and a synth/human Codsy is a bird. Like...maybe an owl, or something similarly rounded/soft in shape. Think Owl from Winnie the Pooh.
Curie; She's a furry, not a Furry. She's not going to any conventions, and probably isn't drawing her fursona or commissioning art. Its likely she uses it to, like, educate children, like as a mascot for her clinic or something. Same situation as Codsy, two fursonas for her two different bodies. The synth body, that there is a mouse. Cute and very important to scientific discoveries, despite being often disregarded and more often, abused in the field. The Ms. Nanny bot fursona is a blue-ringed octopus, specifically.
Danse; Not a furry. Would find it very strange if it was explained to him, and would assume it was something kids do. Would be visibly disturbed if explained that, no, this is actually more of a teen-to-adult space. If he looks it up later and finds Certain Things, you will be receiving the bill for his next anti-depressants. However, entirely possible he is a closeted furry and has yet to realize this about himself. I'm leaning toward a bull? Bull-headed, obviously, but also, down to earth, reliable, et cetera...it fits his character.
Deacon; KING OF THE FURRIES. Has multiple fursuits, all homemade. Commissions every artist he can find, every Twitter furry artist has him on their waitlist. Does not half-ass his furriness. This man is the furry you only hear about, the one with all the art and custom costumes and all the money to throw at his hobby. His fursonas are plentiful and ever changing, but his favorite one? A chameleon, with holographic, reflective, ever-changing scales.
Gage; would not be a furry. Well aware of what it is due to exposure to Mason. Wouldn't have been into it even if his introduction wasn't him and his crew. He gets the idea, it's just that the idea is weird as fuck. He's a grown man and he has people to scam and/or murder. Obviously, Gage would be an iguana. They have a ridge and a naturally gruff, bored expression. And the skin texture is about the same, too.
Hancock; another casual furry. Its likely he was introduced to it and brought in by someone else, and just kinda stuck around. There are two options as to what he'd be. 1; a sphinx cat. He's lanky, the skin matches, he has some kitty-like traits. The big eyes are a huge part here. 2; sloth. He's a very chill dude, he's always high (sloths getting high is currently contested but the demeanor fits) and despite being very small and not outwardly threatening, is very capable of fucking you up (sloths will use their MASSIVE FUCKING CLAWS for defense).
MacCready; Is a furry. His fursona is a weasel. This is so obvious i don't feel the need to defend or explain this. Look at him. He's a furry. The only interesting thing to say here is that Duncan would also grow up to be a furry. But Mac? He would be a hardcore furry if he had the money. Funds keep him a casual fan. If he did...would be worse than Deacon.
Nick; A first-gen furry. An elder furry. The very old man at the con who sees that you're lost and confused but trying very hard, with your furry 2008 emo paw gloves and your cat ear headband and painted on whiskers, and shows you around. Takes you under his wing (literally, as his fursona is a raven, obvi) and introduces you to various artists, suitmakers, other furries your age he'd think you'd get along with...this community would be in shambles without people like him. He's been here since the beginning and has seen it all, truly.
Piper; dabbled, couldn't get into it. She'd be a passersby, a visitor of a con but not a participator. Interested in the art of furrydom, the actual art and the suits, but as an outside observer. If Piper were an animal...a ferret, a squirrel, a possum, some kind of street-smart rodent. Something clever and tricky, that's always where its not supposed to be. For a wildcard, I could also see her as a bat of some kind.
Preston; not a furry and completely neutral to it. It doesn't interest him, but he doesn't find it weird, either. It's people LARPing as animals, people have been doing that ever since they evolved from animals. He gets it, he really does. Preston would like nothing more than to be a cat that does nothing but sleep and yell for attention. The cat life is peak existence for him. It's just that Preston is very literal, and the furry thing is more exaggerated. He doesn't want cat ears. He wants to not be a human anymore, please for the love of god—
X6-88; furry. A secret, dignified furry. A pretensious one. A gatekeepy one. This furry judges you if you don't have a suit. He has one. He doesn't wear it, it cost more than some houses, it stays in a glass case like a taxidermied trophy hunt. X6-88 is a furry. His fursona? A Doberman, because they were bred to protect asshole tax collectors, which fits with X6 being a courser. Tall, all sharp edges, an arresting glare, and very loyal and hardworking.

artist quastions
1. Art programs you have but don't use
Probably CSP. It's one of the few software I actually legally bought. But their new monetization policy is just not for me. It's a genuinely good program for artists and I may use it again in the future (especially for the 3D functionality. If that hasn't been priced out yet...). I also have SAI installed. It's fun and runs very smoothly. I should use it more often. I also have krita if i want to do frame by frame animation.
2. Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even)
I usually flip my canvas often so it's kind of a 50/50. It depends on the character if they're easier to draw facing forward or to the side.
3. What ideas come from when you were little
Man... I honestly don't know. As a kid I wanted to make a pet game (similar to neopets I guess) where you could earn currency and buy stuff and dress up your pet. I still really like pet games and collection games and trinkets. I would love to make a trinket collection game.
4. Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw
Industrial landscapes and scenes. Painting a factory or trains or roads being repaired is fun. Until you actually have to do that....
5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself
It used to be maybe 90/10. Now its probably 40/60. I used to just. Start a painting and always finish it and post it. I didn't really sketch or doodle stuff without finishing it or give up on paintings and discard them.
Now I like doodling and exploring stuff on my own more. I have a ton of files that are just 20000 layers of different sketches. I also discard artworks much more often.
6. Anything that might inspire you subconsciously (i.e. this horse wasn't supposed to look like the Last Unicorn but I see it)
I honestly can't tell. People don't compare my work to anything often. I can't tell if it looks like anything...
7. A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate
Traditional art. 3d art. Animation of all kinds. Fibre arts. Sculpture. Film. Writing. Theatre. Music. I mean yeah. All. Art. Very broad very vague answer but it's trueee. I appreciate and am inspired by everything I see
Less broadly... Watercolor painters...
8. What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in
I am starting to not be interested in anything....... When I was a child I used to have an 'ask blog' of sorts for my characters. I don't really have anything like that anymore :(
9. What are your file name conventions
Gibberish unless it's a commission. Comms get labelled with the customers name.
10. Favorite piece of clothing to draw
I like drawing the nude figure 💯💯💯. Mmm probably gloves or hi-vis gear. Work clothes. Overalls. Rubber boots. Belts and harnesses.
11. Do you listen to anything while drawing? If so, what
Usually music or youtube videos. I often get anxious and scared so I draw with a single song on repeat to keep my mind off it.
12. Easiest part of body to draw
Arms and legs... Probably... Maybe breasts also.
13. A creator who you admire but whose work isn't your thing
I can't tell. If I admire someone's work I consider it to be 'my thing'. I think there's certain people whose work ethic and drive to create I admire while not really being interested in the subject matter.
I admire artists from dA or FA who draw 'weird' things or their gallery is filled with the same thing over and over, or just people who are laser focused on their subject matter of choice. I'm fascinated by 'widely known in narrow circles' type of thing. I love extremely niche communities 👍
14. Any favorite motifs
Industriallllll..... Concrete. Grime. Rust. Metal. Sparks. Pipes. Wires. Blood and gore. Dilapidated and abandoned places. Small places and things not always noticed. Scary and cute things ^_^

Usually just at my desk.
16. Something you are good at but don't really have fun doing
This is a hard one.... I usually choose to draw what I enjoy.

It depends. I drink tea in all circumstances.

As a child I broke a wacom intuos tablet I got as a gift. Still not over it because it was quite expensive. Don't think I broke anything else unless breaking my computer also counts. I broke several laptops as a child...
19. Favorite inanimate objects to draw (food, nature, etc.)
FACTORY 💯💯💯 Nature and plants too but the prize has to go to industrial infrastructure. Even if I'm not good at it.
20. Something everyone else finds hard to draw but you enjoy
Hands 🙌. Animals ? Various textures ?
21. Art styles nothing like your own but you like anyways
I can't list them all 🥲 I love to be inspired by artworks that are nothing like mine. I really admire dynamic and expressive cartoon/simplistic styles. Artstyles well adapted for hand drawn animation are also amazing.
22. What physical exercises do you do before drawing, if any
I need to be actually doing this more. Squats, wall angels and just rotating my joints are my usual go-to. I also like to twist myself but idk if that actually does anything. I like hearing my spine crack 😄
23. Do you use different layer modes
I used to use multiply for shading but I don't anymore. I like using gradient maps and Hue/Lightness/Saturation layer modes. I also tend to just cycle through all layer styles to see if anything looks good. Overlay, darker/lighter color, add are useful on occasion. I try to not rely heavily on layer styles because it quickly turns into me agonizing over 2% opacity changes and shifting colors over and over. Instead of actually painting.
24. Do your references include stock images
Yeah. Sometimes. I just google or go on pinterest to find stuff I need.
25. Something your art has been compared to that you were NOT inspired by
I can't tell. People don't compare my works to anything.
26. What's a piece that got a wildly different interpretation from what you intended
I honestly don't know... Everyone has a different interpretation of any work and I enjoy hearing about people's opinions. I can't really recall a 'wild' interpretation...
27. Do you warm up before getting to the good stuff? If so, what is it you draw to warm up with
I try to! It's good practice. Usually it ends up in me hating the first iteration of a painting and re-doing it from scratch. But usually I just draw the pose/composition I want over and over until it looks good enough to proceed.
28. Any art events you have participated in the past (like zines)
Probably. I can't remember though.
29. Media you love, but doesn't inspire you artistically
I have no idea. I think I'm inspired subconsciously by everything I ever experience. It probably doesn't immediately show in my actual artworks but it's there.
30. What piece of yours do you think is underrated
All of them 💯💯💯💯💯
I don't really pay attention to how pieces are received. There's pieces I'm proud of and pieces I'm not. Other people either get it or don't...

a job you had that would surprise people?
None? Probably the most interesting way I have earned money is the only commission I've ever had, which was my mum commissioning me for her work (kindergarten) because they needed 30 little icon drawings that each kid has at like their bag hook and on their stuff to identify them, she didn't like the person who used to do it because they were weird about it for some reason and the designs were kinda cluttered and ugly so my mum was like my child can draw? Yes! and this way I can be really fussy and specific with it.

do you think aliens are real?
In the sense of any life existing outside of earth? yes 100% would be weird if there isn't. In the sense of complex or intelligent life? probably. In the sense of there are human equivalent creatures that have achieved space travel and are equally or more technologically advanced than us, unlikely but possible. Just thinking about how much time life has existed without humans and how long humans have existed before any ideas of space exploration and the very specific technologies and discoveries that were necessary for space exploration I wouldn't be surprised if we are the only ones. Also just like how incredibly difficult space travel beyond our solar system is I think it's unlikely we will truly know or make contact.

No :) do not care to learn. fuck cars and driving is boring i only learn to drive because its kinda necessary where i live :( get me good public transport government please
what's your guilty pleasure?
im guilty about alot things like drinking milk, eating too much sugar, spending too much money, doing literally anything i will find a way to feel guilty about it but thats just my general state of being since i was a child and i mostly ignore it or work around it.
I guess in the more traditional sense of things i like that are embarrassing and i wouldnt want people to know, it would be reading fucked up smut. Particularly my fondness for incest ships? Don't know why I suspect it is the codependency. but yeah umm...

Um not that into sport, I guess I wanted to play netball when I was like 8 (but that might've just been because that's the thing you do) but I missed the trial periods 2 years in a row but kinda glad I didn't I know multiple people with permanent injuries from playing netball as a kid/teen and my joints are not the most functional in the first place. Do still enjoy playing casually every now and then.
do you talk to yourself?
Yes my favourite hobby, I have the best conversations with myself, will stay up for hours just talking to myself. Also great for preparing for real conversations. I love it when a topic I fully thought about and talked to myself comes up in conversation and it's like fuck yeah gonna ace this one.
what movie(s) do you adore?
Hmmm not the biggest fan of movie as a story format but uh have seen how to train your dragon at least 20 times and I need to watch it again sometime soon, been craving that animal/human enemies to deep emotional connection best buds.
coffee or tea?
Love coffee, but over half of my daily water consumption is through tea (usually multiple kinds)
Would be less alive without tea also its just like so diverse, green tea!black tea! rooibos! masala chai! rosehip! liquorice! peppermint..... camomile! and so much more with sugar! with milk! with honey! or lemon! hot! cold! literally my favourite, shoutout to whoever invented plant in water. Also soup different kind of plant in water but still absolutely banging humans peaked at plant in water best things invented.
and caffeine doesn't affect me like at all? so i only drink these things for taste.
first thing you wanted to be growing up?
Idk the first but I know at some stage I wanted to be an author or a marine biologist (why is this so common who put it in our heads? Actually maybe David Attenborough....) probably the first was an animal or something

BACK FROM THE DEAD
Hi, its me, Boo, that guy who made horribly unfunny Monster hunter/Pokemon posts that you all liked for some reason 4+ years ago. Alot has changed since then! I’m like, 25 now, Working full time in commission hell (for now, hopefully), Admitted that I’m gay and supporting my boyf and 2 cats, Tried to launch ANOTHER webcomic and failed, gained a solid circle of homies so that Im not some weird loner who does nothing but draw weird shitposts, and currently just kinda going through the motions until I get the chance to put my next big project out there again. Like geez man, I’m growing up and getting OLD
So you may be wondering why I’m here again, and sadly its quite obvious: Elon “Emerald Boy” Musk is kinda fucking up the platform I use the most for an ego trip (including firing Twitter’s security team, fun!!) And even though i’m not jumping ship yet, I’m wiping the dust off this place and will be using it as a secondary gallery/site. Now, after taking one good look at my past drawings i considered bringing this blog out back old yeller style, but that wouldnt really be smart, so Im embracing the cringe and moving onward
So in the meantime, this is the plan : Im gonna upload a backlog of the more notable stuff I’ve done in the past year or so, just to show that everything you see before THIS point isn't indicative of what I can do. I still have alot of doubts about myself, but at least I can boldly say I’m not THAT bad anymore, lol.
I’ll try to keep things updated when I can, although it may take some getting used to. Just please be patient as I catch up!
So uh, yeah, look forward to my modern day shenanigans, and sorry for the wall of text, its a bad habit!!

I'm going to make this a separate post itself so its not one honkin huge thing attached to the poll when I reblog it.
Regarding Vic's health primarily (he's mainly okay from what we know atm) and comm money in general
I referenced this but cavaliers can have a lot of neurological issues. Apparently this stems from their skulls being too small for their brains often?
I took him to the vet on 10/19 because he was having an issue with what I thought was his ear. What has been happening, since the day I got him back in june, is that he would occasionally scratch at his left ear and start yelping a lot. The place i got him at checked it and said he was fine, the vet I took him to just a couple of days after also checked it and said he was fine. They said that it was likely an anxious thing, so it was dismissed.
And to be blunt, for a while, he only had that yelping scratch occasionally. But within the past monthish it started getting more frequent. And then when it hit too often (4-7 times a week), I called the vet after the first long run of it happening persistently and got an appt a week later. I got worried he had an ear infection even though he was showing no actual signs of an infection of any sort.
And they did the full gambit of an exam, even cleaned his ears, and verified again: no ear infection. No seeming issue with the ear itself. But, she explained she noticed he had a weird gait, which she later called a hypermetric gait, and said shes very worried he has ataxia and/or some issue with his cerebellum. She immediately worked on a referral and told me the neurologist is likely going to want an MRI and to expect it, and that I needed to get him checked out Soon as she was worried the ear thing would get worse. Which. When I explained again how often it was occurring, she seemed more concerned and ran to get pain meds for Vic.
Neurologist was closed friday, so I spent the whole weekend googling what I could. Ataxia is not a illness, but its a symptom. I have no idea of what, and thats what I gotta get checked out. Googling it was uhhhhh. Not fun. Google scared me with talking about how bad cases of conditions that ataxia is connected to usually require the pet to be put down.
Looking on reddit made me feel a bit better. Specifically cavalier talk reddit. Sometimes this thing leads to surgery, but it also seems very likely that (in a good case scenario), Vic may just have a life of pain management. Hopefully minimal pain!!!!
The neurologist called me today and scheduled an appt for nov 2nd. Apparently its an exam and, if needed, MRI same day. Exam is $180 (wheeze), and an MRI can be anywhere between 3k-4k (wheezes louder).
As long as talks with bank go well, if they push for an MRI, I'm going to do it. Even if the diagnosis is that Vic is just a silly lil dude with anxiety, it'll be worth it, you know? For the peace of mind, to know there isn't anything scary with his noggin.
The MRI can be rescheduled, so that will be my next option if bank talk does not go well, but. Thats the info I got. Please keep in mind what the vet said verses what I googled, as google is not a vet.
When it comes to commissions, the funds will likely not go to this. This is why:
Every time I get paychecks, I look on my Bill Schedule and deduct all the stuff that will be coming out that paycheck and work with whatever is leftover. Usually thats not a crazy amount left. If I succeed with regular comms, the money would be going towards any bills I may be struggling with that paycheck/month, or small things to help like. Yaknow. Live outside of bills. Like money towards a cheap haircut. Some energy drinks that week. Getting a couple of extra things when grocery shopping instead of what I count as absolutely needed only.
I wanna be transparent, so I am. It'd likely go towards treats for me to make living not unbearable. That is that. It wouodnt be going towards Me commissioning others, though I will be transparent Still and state I did pay for a small comm before vet visit and so if yall see that, that was smth i paid for already.

In short, what do you think would happen if the karasuno volleyball team (faculty included) got isekai’d into teyvat?
For example, they’re in the bus, ready to go to a training camp. Everyone except the driver falls asleep and the driver makes a turn into a grass-land, expecting to be there in a few minutes.
But they don’t
After the panic settles down everyone gets off the bus and they’re for example, in winerise. How would they continue?

theyre just standing there, figuring out where the hell they are
honestly. i think they end up running into a knight or adventurer (also confused as to what they're wearing) and escorts them to the city

tsukki and yamaguchi also become tcg gods and end up meeting a few people through that, and really want to explore around some of the other nations, so they make a field trip and go south to liyue. chaos ensues there and hinata falls in love w beidou (not in a romantic way just in an appreciation way) and is excited about becoming a pirate
i have so many thoughts. there's so many and I think their relationships with each of the characters would be so FUN. everyone knows them as the weird squad of guys that isn't really from anywhere but everyone appreciates anyway

i was typing this in the notes to an ask but it gogt waaaay too long lol sorry. prefacing it with you know i love your artwork & i have nothing against what you choose to draw. also possibly worded weird cus i didnt write it in the sense of talking only to you alone
there is certainly this conflict between artists as random individuals and artists as a collective when it comes to how to approach this issue… as a hobbyist you can draw whatever you like but also when you have trends like a lack of fatness thats going to be disheartening too. i think the answer is getting more people into making art (& like general societal change of course since its an issue baked into bigotry.)
because as much as i agree with the sentiment of "there is significant under representation of fat women" (or characters in general) at the same time fandom is a hobby space and i dislike the notion of badgering individual artists to draw any particular thing especially when the source material does not have that thing. if you are looking for artwork of fat women thats great but i would not ever recommend something like enstars that has 1. no fat characters and 2. no women, barring a few exceptions. i think expecting to find fanart of fat women from a source entirely composed of thin men is unrealistic, even with the relative popularity of femstars.
plus there are other complications such as the typical modern fandom f/f scene sometimes being very strict and even vicious at times with their standards of what's enough diversity or what content is appropriate. ive heard a lot of anecdotes about people who WERE contributing to these things but whom were still harassed or got threats from other users over it not being good enough, and that's just not conducive to creating the environment or diversity you want. nobody is going to want to be in a fandom space where they have to walk on eggshells all the time. and i bring this up because of how you were clearly harassed by randos. accusing you of misogyny or shaming other womens' bodies as being "unrealistic" is not the way to go
the only reasonable solution i can think of to this is, again, to just encourage more artists to start drawing in the first place, or even better start contributing yourself. individuals should have the freedom to draw what they like without getting flamed for it AND people should be able to see themselves represented in artwork. i would like to see some more fat characters too, this is definitely something ive thought about before myself
(personally all the fat people i draw are ocs or portraits of people i know that i dont want to post online but maybe if i get some inspiration i will draw the long-sought chubby mugi myself. i am not super interested in femstars though so whether or not itd actually be fem mugi is up in the air. but all the talking here about this topic has had me thinking about following my own advice and putting what i want to see into the world.)
OUGHH THESE ARE ALL GOOD POINTS!! and i agree! the main thing we should be doing is ENCOURAGING people to add more diversity, not harassing them into it! people who only draw for fun arent really obligated to draw anything outside of their comfort zone, which again is why i think its better to simply uplift the idea of trying out new things and new appearances that you dont often draw
theres also SO MUCH room for more femstars artists too! and like ive said before if you wanna see something done right you gotta do it yourself. and i kind of like that. i like that everyone gets to craft their own little femstars variant of the enstars cast, and you can make them look however you want! and honestly? you SHOULD! seeing personal touches to designs always brings me joy, so even if you dont feel very confident in your art, if you have a specific vision for a character that you want brought to life please go ahead and draw it!! (or if you really dont want to you can always commission someone)
i also wanna highlight one of ur last points too bc yea. its unfortunate but often times whenever i see someone try adding diversity to their art for the first time they end up getting flamed because its not an accurate depiction of what they were trying to represent. and that really sucks! obviously we should strive to have accurate representation, but if its an artist that hasnt tried their hand on it before, ESPECIALLY a beginner artist, we shouldnt flame them for it. rather we should educate them on what went wrong and how they can improve for the future. these are people who actually WANT and are TRYING to add diversity to their art, but because in animanga circles theres a lack of education on how to draw more diverse features of really any kind. which is why trying to educate is far better than shaming. because if you shame these artists theyre gonna be too scared to try again, giving us less diversity once more
so yes basically what im saying is i want us all to encourage diversity and to help each other out by sharing resources and tips when it comes to drawing it!! one person is Obviously not gonna be able to do every single thing, which is why i want more people to pick up the pen and bring life to their visions!! also i really want more femstars food pelase pick up the pen i am a starved orphan and only femstars yuri can satiate me!!!!!!!!!

i know not a lot of my commissions come from here but i'm most comfy asking questions on this blog so rant incoming! hdjfjkfs i've been considering opening commissions next year because i've gotten quite a number of questions about it recently so.. would yall be down for perhaps paying to reserve a commission slot for next year? like a lil deposit to secure a comm and i can get started on it when i'm able to?
not to say i couldn't work on it sooner but i do really need to accept a Lot if i want to make the money i need, and i know my comms tend to not be open often since i get Busy. so i feel maybe split payments could work and can be refunded later if needed, esp if i haven't started on the comm
i really really need to bump the prices of my comms tho. i feel like with my level this year, things have just gotten so much more intricate. but this is coming at a time when i want to rush making $600 ...which makes me feel guilty, like i'm "over"charging just to get the money but 😭😭 fact is, i've been underpricing. and it's hard to admit that honestly. so regardless of that $600, my prices are still over a year outdated, even with the most simple commissions. so that needs to change
and funny enough, the more complicated the commission is (which leads to a much higher cost), the more fun i have with it? i got a massive commission recently, 5 full bodies, and i am having a BLAST with it! i honestly want more of them... as much work as they are, it's so nice to have such a huge project again. scared to ask people to request complex comms but... 😂😂
idk, i've always struggled doing commissions. it's terrifying to me!! but i talked to some art mutuals and i feel so much more confident about comms now and so so much more excited to reopen them, especially since i have a goal to work towards. and the idea of being booked up for weeks SHOULD sound exhausting but it just sounds so fun! (well, okay yes it will be exhausting but very fun!) its weird. i think its just the interest so many have expressed recently ...so pls let me know! :') 🙏 trying new things is always a bit scary. i'm a little anxious because i'm afraid i won't get the comms i need bc of this system so reassurance would be nice thank u

Hey I'm someone who follows you from back when I still read HP fanfic. I saw your response to the ask about inspiration and how you are lacking it. Firstly, I wanna say that I don't mean the following as a slight to the person who asked the question- its a good question, and it can be helpful/neat to hear the various places people draw inspiration from. But tbh I always thought inspiration is a bit over-rated and really fickle. Like I think most people are uninspired most of the time. (part 1)
(part 2) I think its important, that inspiration is often times just, not around. And generally, even when people are uninspired, they still gotta go do the things anyway. An artist friend who does commissions and such told me that. So I think its reassuring, kinda, that you do much the same things others do- get uninspired, shake up the schedule, try new things. Of course it sucks that you're struggling and I hope the inspiration comes back, but its still an important thing to acknowledge.
(super fast tacked on part 3) Sorry if that was all a weird thing to interject and obviously you know all that stuff already. I just wanted to say I have admired your writing for a long while now, and I hope you keep on doing what you do, and that I hope you do know that your experiences are normal, even if it doesn't help with feeling disappointed or tired in the moment.

I agree with you that inspiration sounds nice, but it doesn't really work if what you want is a career and not a hobby. You just have to keep showing up even when things aren't easy. And it's not the most fun, but fake-dating-in-space will be revised by the end of January and off to the last round of beta readers. And I'm simply not going to trunk books anymore. If the several dozen New York publishing gatekeepers don't want them, well, I'll throw them up on Amazon. That helps with the sense of futility :)

Stinky and pizzano headcanons go crazy

the dev art of/about these two is really fucking good i must say.
i have a strange web of headcanons about their meeting and how they interact and about 80% of the gist is that stinky was doomed the second that they said "yeah hes the noisette function" and through a series of interconnected "wouldnt it be funny"s i see them as a kind of quirky mostly-noncommital(*) relationship with an incredibly rocky start. (*youll see)
stinky, Or Phil, since this was the before times, was originally hired for short term contract work on occasional odd jobs for PTV; he wasnt that aware or particularly fond of the network so he became a sort of Pizzano Favourite on virture of talking to him like a normal fucking person. the stuff pizzano asks for is weird and usually incredibly dangerous, but its a chance for him to actually strut his engineering legs and not just fix broken down cars all day. it was during this era that the nickname landed because im 100% convinced that pizzano fucked up his last name day one and called him stinky and never stopped. he hates it.
as jobs turn more frequent, he starts making visits to the studio itself, to do handyman work and maintenance on his pre-existing creations and some other gaggles of props and vehicles (and lots and lots of firearms??) lying around PTV. they strike up a familiar enough racket that pizzano suddenly invites him to join his actual staff, huge benefits and huge salary on top of still getting commission pay (the legality of his pay arrangement is dubious but literally nobody higher-up says no to the pizzano because hes an entertainment juggernaut, and also A Big Man With A Gun). he probably should have said no to this job, but the zeroes beckon him.
new position places him a lot closer to pizzano on the daily, which definitely starts to grate on him. hes loud, obnoxious, changes on a dime, gets stuck in moods from mere minutes to whole weeks, seems allergic to actually getting any proper work done, and is generally kind of a nuisance. the pay is nice, but he cannot deny some days he wants to like. grab that blue motherfucker and chunk him across a room until he stops bouncing. he didnt sign up to be a glorified secretary for some pastry baron lunatic.
the problem is because hes around pizzano a lot more than other workers, and pizzano has more inherent trust in him, stinky gets to see. some weird shit? some concerning shit. like nobody else is freaked out by how often this guy throws up? he just smashes himself into walls for fun? he doesnt even have windows in his room, for gods sake, is nobody else worried about this? but its also none of his business to tell, so he doesnt. the pizzano drags him to restaurants and moving showings and private parties and occasionally, embarrassingly onto the dance floor at a wrap party while intoxicated (lets hope i ever finish that wip). maybe pizzano just isnt great at having friends, stinky wonders, maybe he just exclusively has frenemies or something.
on pizzanos end, this is where the * and the noisette bit kick in a little harder. my biggest "wouldnt it be funny" was just like. what if instead of having the noisette proxy swooning over a relatively unaffected but still loving noise proxy just like a carbon copy of pizza tower it was. The Other Way Around. pizzanos really fucking bad at flirting; he just sorta treats stinky ""the same as he would anyone else"" (hes definitely treating him a little better but he has that irritating pizzano charm) and expects him to pick up on it. hes not mad if stinky DOESNT pick up on it, but pizzano is sure he will eventually! stinky does something nice for him after a bad day and he has to go back to his room and bury his head in his pillow and kick his legs behind him like a schoolgirl.
if anything happens to actually kick off a relationship between the two its probably happening while theyre both drunk at a party or something and pizzano is babbling about how much he enjoys stinkys company and stinky is like .oO{ a bear is fine } and they make some mutual bad decisions that they have to wake up and reflect on but both of them are honestly pretty okay with it. pizzano definitely loves stinky more than stinky loves him At First, but they steadily keep growing into something more comfortable as time goes on. i think sugary spire probably happens a bit before this event, rationally.

Katamari Damacy Mini-Review
Recently I decided that I would stream the lovely, lovely little game Katamari Damacy: Reroll. I'd always heard about the game and how it was largely received positively, but I had never gone and actually engaged with it myself. I played from start to finish in one sitting, and mostly ignored side-content, but what I did play, which is to say opening to credits, was absolutely joyous.
Katamari, for those who don't know, is a game where you have to roll up an increasingly large amount of items to remedy the small problem in that all the stars in the sky disappeared because of your father, The King of All Cosmos' mistake.
I don't typically like to refer to games this way, but Katamari is "quirky." In the best way, Katamari is random, near non-sensical things happen at every turn, and the game itself takes note of how nothing in it makes sense. In some ways, it can be described as "campy," as its commitment to this weirdness is never forced and always taken at face value. It never makes fun of itself, it's just inherently funny, and confident in how funny it is conceptually.
Katamari rhetorically is a breath of fresh air to me, as so often now it feels that "funny" games just get away with lampshading and saying that they're nonsensical and how "wacky" all the things happening in it are, when really at best it's a typical game with very little new to offer regarding it's inherent gameplay loop that reflects that silliness. Katamari does not have this problem.
The inherent awkwardness of rolling around the titular Katamari makes for really good comedy! Rolling a giant ball of bicycles, animals, potted plants, rat traps, and all other manner of items into a wall on accident because the controls are intentionally somewhat unwieldy is just flat out funny, and it makes the actions that you're doing consistent with the game's writing style.
Katamari Damacy is an incredibly cohesive package more than anything else. Everything about it is meant to make you smile, and it ABSOLUTELY succeeds! Speaking of smile inducing, however, one of the greatest aspects of Katamari Damacy BY FAR is it's INCREDIBLE soundtrack.
I really can't even begin to express how lovely these commissioned songs are for this soundtrack and instead feel that it would be best to link my favorite tracks and let you listen for yourself briefly.

Katamari's soundtrack is extremely varied, and provides a lot of the levels an absurdist kick to them that really really sells the comedy of the game, and additionally, the music all hits unbelievably hard. In all honesty, if you wanted to study for my Video Game Music based Gameshow, Original Sound Tracking, then I'd say familiarize yourself with this soundtrack, as there'll probably be a track from this game for at least the next few episodes without fail.
I really, REALLY, loved my time with Katamari Damacy, and would absolutely recommend it to anyone who needs simple, silly, fun in their lives right now. You can watch my playthrough of the game below!

This morning I washed my bathroom floormats and scrubbed the whole floor. I also wiped down the crockpot I got from mom. For breakfast I made corned beef hash and oatmeal with apples.
For work I warmed up with bears, they are fun to draw. I worked on the Venus commission another hour and its coming along better than I thought it would. I was afraid I was borderline scamming the guy with how lazy it felt but it's actually taking some work. Then I worked on a couple of YCHs someone bought.
After lunch I prepared my crock pot to make the bone broth. I used about 8 hot wing bones I saved up and dumped then in there with a little vinegar and salt. The crock pot is old too, I found out it's from the 70s, apparently it came with the house. I didn't have much of an appetite but I made a pack of ramen for lunch fried up with some mixed veggies and onions. It was good but my tummy didn't like it so much, especially not with the yogurt I ate. I played the horse game a bit and was trying to solo a fishing event before a nice person came and joined me until it was complete.
While drawing today's request (which I hated), DV hit me up and we VCed for a little bit. We talked about friendships and relationships and life in general. A couple of his friends were there too. After the request I finished my first 'from life' art in VRchat and Im proud of it. Then I worked briefly on a cuck piece of my otter. I used my remaining work time to finish a version of my avatar with dog gear.
With work done I switched to Roblox horses. I played in call for a little bit but I left shortly after to decompress for the day. I played that for the next couple hours, doing a little training and goofing around. I send DS a goofy little video of me flexing after she asked me for strength. I only mention it because it was a small instance of letting my goofyness shine, I think often times I would avoid that. Then we called while she cleaned.
In bed we did puzzles. The crossword and connections were hard today. We read a chapter of Monster High where Cleo is being a total bitch. Then in KH2 I attempted the boss fight from yesterday but I'm too underleveled so I started grinding after she fell asleep.
I figured the bone broth would be done by now so I removed the bones and gave it a taste. It had color and an oilyness to it but it was a little bit bland and had a weird stinging aftertaste. I decided to put the bones back in and let it simmer overnight and see how it is then. I'm a little afraid to make a soup out of it however it turns out, almost like I've just made a concentrate thatll kill me.

Today Costar said "instead of trying to fix a friend's pain, ask how you can help them hold their sadness." Combining this with acceptance told me that I should be able to accept other people's pain as inevitable and something I can't "solve" as much as I want to help sometimes. I think the best thing I can ever do to "help" is to offer insight to what value the pain might hold and to ask the right questions to promote perspective. Other than that all I can do is listen and ensure that I'm here for them no matter what. Sometimes thats all people need.
