Honestly, I love the Great Council look because (as Paddy would say) it’s serving Targaryen realness. She’s in deep red and black, the truest form of her house colours as well as having a dragon sigel literally in her hair. Compared to Viserys and Aemma who wear maroon (?) and pink respectively, giving us a visual clue that not only was her claim stronger, but she would have likely been the stronger leader. She even has flipping wings for sleeves. The details, man.

Then when we see her again, she’s in Velaryon colours and it’s pale blue. Ice blue. She’s retreated so far away from the colour palette of the Targaryens and found solace in her new house. She’s showing her loyalties but also steering away of any reminder of her past heritage, and more specifically: her past claim to the Iron Throne, despite her being nicknamed “The Queen Who Never Was”. It’s a retreat, allowing her to observe the court as unnoticed as she can - speaking to her lack of role, as well as a symbol of pride as all of the gowns are blinged to high-heaven and she is proud of her Velaryon home and house and chooses to show fealty and loyalty to that, which isn’t a requirement of married women, as we clearly see from Alicent’s own fashion journey back into her Hightower greens. 

Her dragon-riding outfit (at least we assume it’s a dragon-riding outfit), has scales in the fabric of the blouse and the neckline is simple and kimono-like, evoking the dragonkeepers outfits just as much as Daemon and Rhaenyra’s wedding outfits did. But we keep the gold of the Velaryon that is shown through detailing in previous outfits, and then in full force (as a show of wealth) at the wedding banquet.

Interestingly, over the season, the blues of her dresses get darker and deeper. She remains in blue even in mourning, rather than a perhaps more typical black. But from ice blue, to a royal blue, to a deep navy, she gets darker and darker as events take their toll. The first time we see her in black again is when she has to go to King’s Landing over the Driftmark succession, after previously seeing her in a navy blue dress. As the Dance gets closer, and the time comes where she has to make her choice to go into conflict and pick Rhaenyra’s side and fight for her grandchildren.

Then she’s in black for the remainder of the series. I could wax lyrical about that black doublet outfit. The fabrics, the similarities to other outfits we’ve seen, the buckles and the detailing. And her armour is bright red and it has SCALES. She’s a Targaryen once again. She’s a dragon-rider, and her outfits are making sure everybody knows it. 

It’ll be fascinating to see what the next costume team decide to do for all of the characters, but I’m mainly excited for Rhaenys. Will she ever wear a dress again? Will she get a new set of armour? Will she stick to blacks and red? Will she coordinate with her husband, or clash, or just compliment? 

He gets judged for not showing enough emotion. He gets hated for doing exactly that. Granted in not the best way. But fuckin hell it doesn’t warrant all the name calling and abuse that’s been going around. (On top of the daily shit that already gets sent his way!) The apparent need to dissect this outburst of emotions is crazy. He got angry. He may of shoved a member of his team, which if true yes that is bad. He definitely shouldn’t of done that. But to call him so many things, predominately a ‘petulant child’ it’s unwarranted. That term is so incredibly overused and misused within the f1 media it’s so incredibly frustrating. Lance is someone who gets so much hate for just being in the sport that he’s barely used his socials, and his comments were turned off for the longest time because of all the heinous abuse and hate he’s getting on a daily basis for years. To use what happened today to pile so much more of it onto him cause most people feel some grand moral superiority to him is horrible. He’s a person, a human being, where is all the mental health awareness and support that gets preached by so many? Also for anyone who’s paid the slightest bit of attention to Lance, even just in the past year can tell this was seriously out of character. It’s not an excuse but it may be something worth considering.

When I was like 12 years old my violin teacher owned this peculiar music shop, and I would go there weekly for lessons. I see a lot of incomprehension online about our pension reform and the anger it generates in France, and what it often boils down to is "why are they so angry, 64 is plenty young to retire?"

I don't agree, but even if I did I would still oppose the reform. Here are some of the reasons why:

We already need 43 full years of work and tax contributions to be able to retire. Which means college-educated people were never going to retire at 64 anyway, let alone 62. This reform is aimed at people who start working early, mostly in low-paying jobs.

There's very little provision made in this law for hard/dangerous/manual labour.

There's no provision made for women who stop working to raise their children (51% of women already retire without a "complete career," which means they only retire on a partial pension, vs. 25% of men).

At 64, 1/3 of the poorest workers will already be dead. In France, between the richest and the poorest men, there's a 13 years gap in life expectancy.

Beyond life expectancy, at that age a lot of people (especially poorer, non-college educated) have too many health-related issues to be able to work. Not only is it cruel to ask them to work longer, if they can't work at all that's two more years to hold on with no pension

Unemployment in France is still fairly high (7%). Young people already have a hard time finding work, and this is going to make things even harder for them

Macron cut taxes on the rich and lost the country around 16 Billions € in tax revenue. Our estimated pension deficit should peak at 12 Billions worst case scenario.

While I'm on wealth redistribution (no, not soviet style, but I think there should be a cap on wealth concentration. Nobody needs to be a billionaire.): some of the massive profits of last year should go to workers and to the state to be redistributed, including to fund pensions. The state subsidized companies and corporations during the pandemic, Macron even said "no matter the cost" and spent 206 Billions € on businesses. Now he's going after the poorest workers in the country for an hypothetical 12 Billions??

Implicit in all of this is the question of systemic racism. French workers from immigrant families are already more likely to have started their careers early, to have low-paying jobs, are less likely to be college-educated, more at risk for disabilities and chronic illnesses, etc., so this is going to disproportionately affect them

This is not even touching on the fact that he didn't let lawmakers vote on it, meaning he knew he wouldn't get a majority of votes in parliament, or that 70% of the population is against this law. Pushing it through anyway is blatant authoritarianism.

TL;DR: This is only tangentially about retirement age. The reform will make life harder for people with low incomes, or with no higher education, for manual workers, for women—mothers especially, for POC, for people with disabilities or chronic conditions, etc. This is about solidarity.
