i don't know what it is about your art that makes me so motivated. i think it's the way you depict wild animals in the most unassuming, americana settings. i've always felt as if i'm not fully meant to be here, some sort of detached - perks of being korean-american and southern - and looking at your art makes me feel seen.

looking at your art makes me feel at home, which is something i don't usually feel. if this makes any sense, it feels like i am the jaguar at the top of the staircase, the stag leaping rooftop to rooftop, the girl with the face of the wolf, that's me.

every time i'm scared that maybe i won't make it, i trot on over here and feel comforted.

I'm soooo excited about the tapestries coming back! Me and my gf got one a while ago and it's like the centerpiece of our apartment. Everyone loves it and asks about it. Literally it feels like having a beautiful doorway to another world on our wall. Just wondering before we decide which one to get next: are you planning to make any of your other pieces available on tapestry or only the ones currently there?

when i was 5 i wanted to watch The Lion King every day but i would cry miserably about Mufasa, and when my mom would try to comfort me i'd get embarrassed and tell her i wasn't crying, my eyes just hurt, and she'd be like "your eyes always seem to hurt at this part" and i'd be like "yes...because of my mysterious disease..."

I'm not sure if it's intentional, are you aware images posted on your blog are full screen width? it takes a while to scroll them and you have to click on them in order to be able to see the full artwork (I have a really big monitor). Not that I don't like seeing your art up close though!

oh yeahhh tumblr made some changes a while ago which totally broke my desktop blog theme in several ways. It's not on purpose! I need to find a new one but I love this ancient theme sooo much. If anyone out there knows a lookalike/similar theme or knows how I might fix it I would love you for all time

Thank you! It's based on a spot wayyyy down this road that runs behind my parents' house up in Idaho. It leads out into the fields and then the mountains and it used to be my whole world. Some of my backgrounds are wholly made-up, some are inspired by my surroundings here in Utah, and there are also number of pieces set at the edges of the town where I grew up.
