it is so funny how I don't trust "reviews" for series that is just them describing how gay it is. you know that shit sucks ass if the only thing they can think of "one of the characters is queer-coded"

Ten Years
Today is the 10th anniversary of the series premiere of Alex Hirsch’s Gravity Falls on the Disney Channel.
Gravity Falls was a harbinger; it was Disney shaking itself out of its post-Kim Possible doldrums and staking out a bold vision of creator-driven all-ages animated TV series. Legend of Korra was airing at the same time over on Nickelodeon (yeah, Korra is also ten years old; it premiered a couple months prior) but Disney, Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon had all seriously ebbed back from their mid-aughts creative peaks and were sort of coasting on cheap, lousy, live-action programming, or shows that could be charming and were huge moneymakers, but made NO demands of their audience, such as Teen Titans Go! It’s not that they had nothing going on (Phineas and Ferb was airing) but it was slim pickings.
Gravity Falls would change that. In two seasons over four years it established itself as a critical, cultural, and financial sensation. Disney would follow this up with the flawed-but-still great Star vs. the Forces of Evil, the thoroughly entertaining Wander Over Yonder, the complete tour-de-force of Amphibia, and the tragically cut-short The Owl House.
All of those shows with the possible exception of Wander Over Yonder are loosely serialized creator-helmed YA shows that are invested and dripping with passion and relevance.
Gravity Falls is simultaneously a cryptid-of-the-week show about a zany sideshow attraction AND a show about the uplifting nature of even a flawed family.
Star vs. the Forces of Evil begins as a show about a magical princess from another dimension going to high school and getting into fights with the head cheerleader; it ends with an all-out civil war between people seeking to abolish a corrupt authoritarian order and fascist racists who object to all the race-mixing going on these days. A major plot point is that there’s a grand conspiracy to overthrow and erase from history an entire branch of the ruling family because the Queen boned someone from the wrong race and had a halfie kid, and the powers that be can’t have that.
Wander Over Yonder brought the same joy and whimsy we got from the Powerpuff Girls or Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends to a sci-fit setting straight out of Duck Dodgers in the 24th and a Half Century, brought to life by Jack McBrayers superb voice acting.
Amphibia and the Owl House are isekais (the anime term for “trapped in another word” series) that take what has become the most played-out genre in Japan and rebuilds it with all the strengths, all the verve, of western animators who grew up looking at the tropes and decided “I can marry this to an American sensibility and then do it better. Both shows utterly thrive on building a huge cast of interlinked characters and exploring the interiority of their lives en route to some pretty massive cosmic shit.
These are not shows you plop kids in front of to get them out of the way; these are the very definition of shows you watch and enjoy as a family. And they all had that “created by” note in their opening credits; Alex Hirsch, Daron Nefcy, Craig McCracken, Matt Braly, and Dana Terrace. One could argue that this era of shows is directly or indirectly responsible for spurring Netflix’ own forays into this kind of animation; Voltron: Legendary Defender and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power are cut from the same cloth.
This era may, sadly, be coming to an end. The Owl House is being cut down in its prime because Disney is pivoting away from serialized content of this nature; they want more “fun, bite-sized school hijinks” and less “adorable lesbians fight the evil empire.“ They don’t want a show people get into shipping wars on twitter over; they want Baymax.
This past decade and these shows will create and inspire a whole new generation of animators. Just as the people making these shows all came up under late-90s, early-aughts classic anime and cartoon series (Teen Titans, Reboot, Gargoyles, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Kim Possible, that sort of thing) the work they’ve done will launch into the future the great animated series of the 2030s. Somewhere an twelve-year-old boy is watching The Owl House; in 2035 he will be given a contract for his own show by a producer who in 2012 was a ten-year-old girl watching Gravity Falls.
So happy anniversary, Gravity Falls. You’ve made a lot of folks very happy.

How to properly respond to someone mockingly claiming that your favorite show sucks
1. Have Tumblr and Youtube links that support your favorite media handy.
2. If they say “I know tons of people in real life who agree with me” , ask them for screenshots or proof. They’ll say people in real life who agree with them because they may not have people online who do.
3. If they say “I have tons of people on Twitter/FB/Reddit who agree with me”
Remind them of the toxicity of said sites, and provide a screenshot of said toxicity.
4. If they claim “This show repeats many old and conventional mistakes that should never be practiced”, ask for specific scenes or episodes , and have an article/blog/video ready as a counter-point for their “Grievance”
5. More than typically, they’ll be actually just parroting some random person’s words to sound smart. Such as “I’m studying it, its an example how not to write a show”...they’re just repeating a bad-faith critic, in an attempt to sound high and mighty.
6. More often than not, they will say “This dude writes fanfics better than the writers”. Point out to them how said fanfic writer forcibly removes all LGBT content, embraces the “reason why you suck” trope towards female main characters, and show them how their idea of a superior writing fanfic involves replacing female main characters who are typically queer-coded with a straight white male, while straightwashing queer-coded women into being the ship partner for said straight white male.
7. Given the plethora of hate videos or hate-watchers on youtube, it may not actually work to accuse them of not having watched the show. They probably have hate-watched. Instead, ask them if “are we even watching the same show”. Use certain scenes from different episodes to get their take. Look for examples of cognitive dissonance when it comes to how they look at a scene, which will be mirroring that of hate watchers.
8. Ask them about certain LGBT pairings, female main characters, or male white antagonists. Base your responses and counterpoints to them depending on how they respond.
9. They will no doubt get defensive and angry when you ask them to explain their hatred. Explain to them that you were not pleased with them telling you your show that you like sucks, and if they’re so upset about you picking holes in their bad-faith claim or defending the show, then maybe they were in the wrong to be so negative.
10. Please remember to be respectful and polite when doing so. They’ll accuse you of “toxic positivity”, “unable to take criticism” but remember they’re the ones spewing the negativity and getting defensive over somebody not hating what they hate.
11. Remember...Tumblr is where we enjoy things, and support other people enjoying things. If somebody wants to be hateful and mocking, kindly remind them that there are two sites, twitter and reddit, who embrace shitting on what other people love...and look what has happened to those two sites. Then ask them why are they here if they’re just being haters?
12. Just because they hate your favorite shows, doesn’t mean its bad. Do not give in to negativity...that’s what they want...to tear down your enjoyment of things, so they can shove their badly written fixit fanfics in your face.
This post was for fans of Legend of Korra, She-Ra and The Princesses of Power, and RWBY.

Fanfic Writer Questions!
Thanks for the tag, @fazedlight
1- How many works do you have on AO3?
I have 19 works on AO3.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
Do y'all really want to know? Welp. Okay, since you asked.
According to the stats section of AO3, I have published 1,338,126 words on AO3. (Not including my recently deleted fic which was 23,000-ish words).
A million of those words are Korrasami fics.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Korrasami (The Legend of Korra) and Supercorp (Supergirl - Arrowverse).
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Confession (Supercorp) at 854 kudos, which was a rewrite of the end of Season 4.
You are the only one that sees me, trusts me, and believes in me (Supercorp) at 411 kudos, which is a one-shot of Kara telling Lena the truth after Lena is poisoned in Season 3.
Unraveling Realities (Supercorp and sequel to Confession) at 346 kudos, which is a rewrite of Season 5. (Includes Lena's Great Irish Quest and is not a rift fic).
Shared Moments: Book 2 - Spirits (Korrasami) at 329 kudos, and is a rewrite of The Legend of Korra Book 2. I continue this series all the way through to Book 4 (Books 1 through 3 are completed, I'm working on Book 3.5 and 4).
Terminal Velocity, Texts, and Cats (Supercorp) at 215 kudos, and is the story of Lena and Kara's friendship/relationship from season 2 through start of Season 6 (no Totem storyline tho) as told through texts, cats, and carefully woven short scenes. It's a one-shot technically.
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes. I will gladly talk to folks in the comments and even have conversations with people! I enjoy it. I do my best to thank commenters too, though it may take me a bit to answer these days.
However, when people shit on my fiction, I learned my lesson, and no longer fall for that trap.
But overall most comments are pleasant and lovely. I love hearing from readers! Feel free to share how you feel and your thoughts on the story.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I tend toward happy endings to be honest, but I'd say the angstiest ending was Shared Moments: Book 3 - Change (Korrasami) because there's no avoiding the angst there. I kept the story arc of Book 3 close to the original, so for folks that have seen TLOK, they know how angst heavy the end of Book 3 is.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Most of them? Well, except for Book 3 - Change and Book 3.5 - The Mirror. Those aren't happy per se. They are hopeful, yes, but not happy. All other fics have a happy ending.
Maybe Asami's Hidden Box of Letters and Poetry? It's a cute one-shot of Asami and Korra being absolutely adorable, and it ends with them being happy and kissing, so yeah. Probably the happiest?
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Ugh, yeah. Weirdly enough I got the most hate on my Korrasami fics, where a few readers would write some really, really cruel things. Or rant about what they wanted me to write. Or engage in fights with other commenters (yes, this happened on the big finale of Book 3 - Change, where the ableist comments squared off with the kind commenters). Or the editor commenter who gave unasked for and unwanted "editing" of chapters.
Strangely enough, I have only had one mean commenter in the Supercorp fandom, and that poster was someone that other commenters warned me about and told me to disregard.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Not really? I will write a vague sex scene here and there -- mostly in the Korrasami fics (my Shared Moments series). I haven't gotten to any sex scenes in the Supercorp fics though a few are coming up in Unraveling Realities.
I try to capture the emotion of the scene rather than describing the sex in detail. I honestly don't feel qualified to write a smut scene, which is why I prefer this approach.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I wrote a silly crossover of Supergirl and The Legend of Korra. It's on Tumblr somewhere -- see my pinned post, I think I linked it there.
I do have a WIP, where Lena builds a multiverse portal only for it to open in the Avatarverse, and her and Kara accidentally end up stuck in Asami and Korra's world. So then Korra and Asami have to help them build a portal and find their way home again. I don't know if I'll ever finish it.
I also have a Star Wars Korrasami WIP. This one involves Asami and Korra assisting in the Battle of Endor with Luke, Leia, Han, and crew. They then help with the building of the Republic.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yes, I was pissed. Please don't do that.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I know of. If anyone wants to translate one of my fics, let me know. I'm willing to talk shop.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
@nottawriter and I are working on a Supercorp fic, though it's not published. It's where Lena and her daughter meet Kara, who is their home inspector.
Beyond that, I've only ever co-written original fiction. My friend, Raveneye and I wrote an original science fiction story. It was written in the form of "letters," where one person was on the space station (Raveneye's character) and one person on the alien planet (my character).
14. What's your all time favorite ship?
Korrasami. Supercorp is a close second.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I will finish all my WIPs someday!! Unless I die before that happens. *knocks on wood* But I guess the Supergirl/TLOK crossover is least likely to ever be finished.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Worldbuilding and immersion of reader in the five senses.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Pacing. Honestly. pacing makes me anxious, and I'm always convinced I'll fuck it up, especially in longer works. (And yet, I write mostly longer works. Go figure).
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I have done this. Spanish and Irish in particular. (Kryptonian as well now that I think about it). I include translations in the end-notes.
I do it mostly for the reader to feel the same emotions as the POV character who struggles to understand the other language. Does this trick work? So far comments seem to imply yes? But who knows?
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Korrasami.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
I have to pick one??? I don't know actually.
I'm pretty proud of my rewrite of Book 2 - Spirits and Book 3 - Change. I'm also proud of Confession, especially how I reworked Lena's role in the Red Daughter fight scenes.
But I like all my fics equally well to be honest. I mean why write them otherwise?
For Tags... ummmmmm.
I have no idea who has done this and who hasn't? If you have done this, apologies for the tag. Let me know and I'll go read your version. @thecasualqueer, @nottawriter, any of my mutuals, and anyone else who wants to play.

hey there!
this might be like a weird ask, but i've seen you post a lot about the legend of korra, so.
do you think it's worth watching the show? i've been avoiding it for a while now simply because i'm afraid it's gonna disappoint. i know it is a separate narrative with entirely new characters, but from the few scenes i've seen it just looks sooooo different from the gaang's story that i'm just afraid they've butchered the original universe. plus, my favorite character from atla is aang, and i do not know if any character from korra will have that same kind of charm.
on the other hand, i know it attracts a lot of fans. what do you think?:)
(btw, amazzzzzzing job on both your zukaang fanfic and the artwork for it !!)
Hi anon! :) This isn't a weird ask at all, I'd be happy to help!
So the short answer is: yes, I think it's worth watching! I know exactly how you feel - Aang is also my favorite AtLA character, so I was also very apprehensive when LoK was first announced way back in like 2011. But my apprehension didn't stop me from looking forward to and eventually enjoying it, mainly because AtLA was/still is my strongest and longest running hyperfixation to date, and I (especially at that time) was willing to consume any scrap of media related to it lol. We were very starved for content in the olden days :')
I'll go ahead and give you a spoiler-free breakdown of the four LoK seasons - this might help you decide:
Book 1: Air is definitely is quite a bit different from AtLA (which was done on purpose by the creators to differentiate it so it wouldn't just feel like the exact same show). Book 1 is still my least favorite of the LoK seasons for this reason (as well as for questionable writing decisions), but there are still some great moments. You may notice that Book 1 ends very "neatly" - this is because LoK was originally supposed to be a miniseries before Nickelodeon picked it up for 3 more seasons (which I think was a large part of why the writing suffers a lot in the first half of the show as a whole).
Book 2: Spirits also starts out pretty rough (with more questionable writing decisions), but it picks up about halfway through. Some people say this is their least favorite season, but I've always enjoyed it overall a ton more than Book 1. While some of the additions to the lore of the Avatar and the Spirit World are polarizing amongst the fandom (and there are some things I wish they'd done differently), I still ate that shit up when it first aired lol.
Book 3: Change is where, in my and many others' opinions, the show suddenly rises to the same level of quality as AtLA. There's a lot of traveling, we get to see some familiar faces and several classic AtLA locations from Book 2: Earth, the villains are the best villains in any Avatar media, and the plot and emotional core of the season are just so, so good. I can't say any more because I don't want to spoil even a little bit of it. I personally think LoK is worth watching just for this season alone.
Book 4: Balance is not as good as Book 3, but I enjoyed it a lot more than Book 1 and Book 2. It does a really good job of exploring trauma/PTSD and the relevance of the role of the Avatar in a modernizing world, and is a decent followup to Book 3. What happens at the end of Book 4 is also SO culturally impactful (not sure if you know why, but I won't say anything specific), especially for queer AtLA fans such as myself.
While LoK definitely isn't perfect, I still accept it as canon for the world of Avatar, and it's still a show I've rewatched several times (though I tend to skip a lot of Book 1 and the first half of Book 2 when I do lmao). If you decide to watch it, go in with an open mind knowing that it is not going to be exactly like AtLA. Even in the not-as-good seasons, there's still some gems to behold. And what's also nice about LoK is that each season is about 12ish episodes, so you'll get to the really good stuff (Book 3) pretty quickly if you binge lol.
Feel free to send me another ask if you have any more specific questions about LoK! :)

Pride Event 2024
Tumblr media
Hello everyone, as you may have figured out I am a queer trans writer, and therefore I want to do something for Pride month this year. I want to write a bunch of LGBTQIA fics to post throughout the month of June, and so hopefully that’s where all of you lovelies come in. If you wish please send in Lgbtqia requests for any of the characters I listed in this post, as long as it’s lgbtq I’ll see what I can do with it. This post will have a list of characters I will write for during this event, as well as a list of rules for the event. So without further ado please join me in prepping for Pride month and consider requesting. everything is under the keep reading to no clog the dash.
Here's my master list if you want to check out some of my work
Rules: (rules for event will differ slightly from my regular rules)
Please have some kind of plot when requesting, not just character & fluff, I need more to work with
In addition to the first rule, please don’t send me a request that is two pages long. Please keep requests to four or five sentences. If your request needs to be longer, please message me the details and we can discuss.
When requesting, please state if you want headcannons, a drabbel, or oneshot.
Limit of four characters for headcannons and drabbels
All characters are aged up, unless stated otherwise.
From now on Minors/ageless blogs will be blocked
No Smut (just not confident enough to write it yet, might change later on)
NO CHILD READER (in any way, even if it's a look back on character and reader as kids. I'm not comfortable with it)
No incest/stepcest or anything of the sort
No minor x adult
No big age gaps even if both sides are adults
No Homophobia/Transphobia/racism, there is an exception for if it is part of the plot requested. For example character comforting reader after they get harassed
No self-harm, ed’s, or s/a’s
Please do not send links. I would like to believe that you lovelies would try to put a virus on my computer, but I will not risk it.
Please only send requests or ask questions, don't say weird shit
AGAIN, NO MINORS OR AGELESS BLOGS
if you have any questions about if I will accept a request, feel free to message me for clarification

❖ Call me Syn, Syna, or Raina, or whatever comes to mind when you think of me~ ( be nice, there ain't none of that negativity here ! ) I'll also respond to Smut Santa / Saint Dickolaus! 😉
❖ I'm 29, about to be 30. I'm afab and use female pronouns. Happy mama of 2 beautiful babes~ They come first before anything else, so if I don't get back to you in a timely manner or like... at all... that's why. Or maybe I just don't like you. ( nahhh that's not it ... ? )
❖ Previously went by Taqsyq, but after YEARS of being out of the writing game and just off of tumblr in general, I've decided to start over fresh. I started Taqsyq when I was like sixteen or seventeen, still in my nerdy emo girl phase fuck I still am, and there is a shit ton of things that I just wanna run away from when it comes to that blog/username, including some very bad memories that I'm not going to discuss publicly. Plus, again: seventeen, nerdy emo girl phase. Everything I wrote on that blog was the highest form of OOC cringe like you just saw a stripper accidentally slam her hoo-ha on a pole bullshit for me. The only reason I'm not deleting it is because I'm a memory hoarder and despite all the bad, I want to keep it for all the good that happened there as well. Besides, it's the account that I ran imagine-reborn (an imagines blog for Katekyo Hitman Reborn) under and I figured, if nothing else, I could get a few laughs and maybe even learn a thing or two from how god-awful teenage me was at writing.
❖ My rules are simple. Be kind to all: this is a safe zone for EVERYONE. I would like to keep it that way. I don't have a list for what I will and will not write (yet), so all I can tell you is: ask. My inbox is always open. If I don't feel comfortable writing something, I'll let you know!
❖ Minors: as of right now, I don't think I'll be posting anything that is safe for your consumption, so I would very much appreciate it if you did not interact. If you are not a minor and do not have an age indicator, this rule applies to you as well. I check my follower list daily and I WILL block anyone that does not adhere to this rule.
❖ Requests: Closed ( not for long. I promise ;D )
❖ Currently, I only write for Hazbin Hotel. But I'm open for discussion on anything else on my list down below! I'm always looking for something new to watch/read, so if you have any recommendations, fire away!
❖ Series ; Current Hyperfixation: Hazbin Hotel
Anime : Naruto ; InuYasha ; Death Note ; Bleach ; Hellsing ; Soul Eater ; Fruits Basket ; D.Gray-Man [ Original / Hallow ] ; Kuroshitsuji ; Katekyo Hitman Reborn ; Ao No Exorcist ; Yu Yu Hakusho ; Full Metal Alchemist ; One Piece* ; Shingeki No Kyojin ; Kimetsu No Yaiba ; Jujutsu Kaisen**
* Still trying to catch up. This is a massive anime, and I've spent the better half of this past year trying to watch it all. I've made it to the Raid on Onigashima, the part where Yamato got his bracelets removed. Love him, by the way! <3
** Nanaminnnn~! I am not okay about anything with this man. <3
Manga / Manhwa : Everything mentioned above ; Noblesse ; Bloody Cross ; Area D
TV : Hazbin Hotel ; Game Of Thrones ; Vikings ; Avatar: The Last Airbender ; The Legend Of Korra ; Supernatural
Books : A Song Of Ice & Fire ; Twilight Saga why did teenage me think it was the greatest series ever shoot me now fucking christ
Video Games : Final Fantasy Series + Individual Prequels, Sequels, Movies, Remakes* [ 7 / 9 / 10 / 13 / 15** ] ; Tales Of Series [ Legendia / Zestiria / Berseria / Arise ] ; Devil May Cry Series ; Kingdom Hearts Series*** ; Star Ocean Series [ Till The End Of Time / The Divine Force ] ; The Legend Of Zelda [ A Link To The Past ] ; Sonic Series ; Spyro Series ; Shining Force Series [ 1 / 2 ] ; Lufia Series [ Fortress Of Doom / Rise Of The Sinistrals ] ; Diablo 3 ; Lunar [ Silver Star Story Complete ] ; Infinite Undiscovery ; to be updated as I remember / play.
* So far, I've only played the first installment of Final Fantasy 7 Remake because I currently do not own a PS5, but I'm working on it. The Compilation of Final Fantasy 7 is my absolute favorite series of all time. I could watch Advent Children ( original and complete ) on repeat, and I've played the original release so many times that I don't even need a guide to get a 100% on a brand new save ( Obsessed much? Yup ). I'm a completionist at heart, and this game is amazing and it provides a massive sense of nostalgia for me.
** SLIGHT SPOILER (maybe? You've been warned) Another amazing installment in the Final Fantasy series, this game is so well written in my opinion. It stays away from the bigger cliches you see in most RPGs ( eg : the guy gets the girl, friendship is the key to saving the world, etc. ), the characters are so individually complex, the villain technically wins and reminds you how easy it would be for you to become the same type of monster. Plus badass women that fix your car, lights up entire cities, wakes up the fucking Gods to fight on your side, takes the entire mercenary army they led and defects to your side? IN HEELS? YES PLEASE. It has one of the best enemy turned ally characters in the FF series; I'm just disappointed we didn't get to see much of Aranea after everything in Tenebrae. Also Ardyn has some serious daddy vibes, and I would literally give my left tit just to lick Aranea's boot ( oh, the things I would do to these two, phew~ ).
*** Let's be real here. The Kingdom Hearts Series makes zero sense if you didn't play all of them and you didn't pay attention to each and every detail, and I did neither. I played 2 and 3 when they originally came out, but in my defense: it doesn't look like a series that follows a singular story, something that I did not know at the time, and usually the series I play have an entirely different story per installment ( eg : Final Fantasy and Tales Of ). I tried to piece together the story from online synopses and second hand game play ( I watched someone else play ), and it just didn't work out. So, suffice to say, my knowledge of Kingdom Hearts goes about as far as basic facts regarding Organization XIII because they were my whole reason for trying the games in the first place. I'm still open to discussion about it, though! Just keep in mind my side will be very limited. Sorry!
To Be Read / Watched / Played : Helluva Boss ; Phantasy Star Series ; Final Fantasy Series [ 1-6 / 8 / 11-12 / 14 / 16 ] ; Diablo 4 ; Black Clover ; Hell's Paradise ; Fairy Tale ; The Seven Deadly Sins ; My Hero Academia

Avatar: The Last Airbender/The Legend of Korra | Canon x OC plots
please note that I only roleplay with people 21+. all characters are 18+.
"You must never give in to despair. Allow yourself to slip down that road, and you surrender to your lowest instincts." - Uncle Iroh
The new ATLA remake has just reawakened my love of the original cartoon, and I can already feel the brainrot taking over. First things first: I’m looking for someone to play a canon character against my OC, who is a water spirit who gave up their immortality in order to stay in the mortal realm. Our setting and timeline is flexible since I can play with The Last Airbender or The Legend of Korra. There will be awesome natural phenomena, spooky spirit hijinks, and of course, epic bending. I have a craving for angst and drama sprinkled with fluff, and perhaps a potential for ERP. Kinks/limits will be discussed privately. Of course, story comes first. If our characters form that chemistry, I’d be happy to feed into it.
🕊 Dead Dove themes are welcome(toxic relationships, unequal power dynamics, villains doing evil shit, etc.)
About my character; their name is Shio(潮 meaning ‘tide’). They can be either benevolent or malevolent depending on where we want to take our plot, but I have a whole arc sketched out in my head for them, which boils down to essentially a Noir storyline between two antagonists. I find this more interesting than the usual ‘protagonist vs. villain’ trope, but of course, I’m open to hearing your ideas as well. Now, onto my craved canon bois:
ATLA:
🌑 General/Admiral Zhao
🔥 Firelord Zuko
i love firebenders, okay??
TLOK:
🌪️ Zaheer
🎭 Amon(PLEASE HE IS MY FAVORITE and I would love you forever if you played him)
I’m an advanced-literate writer who ranges from multi-para to novella length. I like to match my partner. 3rd-person is preferred. I’m that type of roleplayer that loves continuous plotting, headcanons, making playlists and moodboards, and generally fawning over/memeing on our characters. Anyone interested may feel free to introduce themselves into my DMs, or like this post to get my attention.
DM @demon-the-writer if interested!

Out of all the Pop-Culture Paganism you talk about I have yet to see you ramble on Owl House cause Legit it is my FAVORITE depiction of witchcraft in popular media in general, but I personally think I may be biased on that matter, however, what's your take on it?
We got Glyphs, Sigil magic, Potions, Palismen (Aka Talismen merged with Familiars which is GREAT and AMAZING), And even Demons and Witches! How cool is that? Plus there's some of the best representation of Lgbt I've ever seen in media to begin with, Lumity for example tends to follow in making a loving girlfriend couple that doesn't even try to hide that they're gay like some lgbt rep does.
I am so, so sorry to disappoint, but I've literally never seen the Owl House.
And a lot of the early queer rep had to hide that they're queer because they were fighting against waves and waves of censorship. Korra and Asami holding hands at the end of Avatar: The Legend of Korra was as far as they could push at the time, which paved the way for Steven Universe's lesbian wedding, which paved the way for newer things. Many times, the writers or showrunners involved would have wanted more overt representation, but the host service (often Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon) shut it down.
I ain't judging you for the phrasing here, as I'm sure you meant it in earnest and likely were referencing more things I've never heard of that have done queer rep quite terribly, but I wanted to take a moment to talk about an overlooked aspect of media made and hosted by many different people.
And, unfortunately, just the promise of representation doesn't really endear me to the idea of a show. I have to know the tone, the plot, what the protagonists are going for, what the antagonist is doing, stuff that actually makes the story. And then I probably won't even watch it, merely skim the wikis, because I refuse to give streaming services my money and we don't get jack shit for television out here.
It sounds really neat, even though I'm not a witch personally. But until the moons align and I can become able to go into new media, I'm gonna have to pass for now. I'm glad you enjoy it! Let me know if you write any posts yourself about The Owl House and pop culture magic/paganism, I'll give it a read and a reblog!
~Jasper
(PS: This post isn't rebloggable because there are much better explanations of the above things than I've put out here. Go reblog those instead. This was written in a post-work fugue state, you don't want this on your blog.)

Hello All!!
My name is Bloo //She/Her//. I am 19, and I have been roleplaying for at least five or six years now! I started out on amino as a kid and then grew away of it (thankfully), so after a long break, I am looking for a new place to rp with people in my age range! would say I am a literate to Novella writer, but I do match my partner’s writing length. My rules and preferences will be included below!
Preferences:
I will only be roleplaying with people 18+, obviously. If your age is not included in your bio I will not respond.
I am in the EST timezone, so keep that in mind in case our times conflict!
I would prefer a partner who enjoys playing colder, or more dark characters! Even if the plot doesn’t call for any romance. I just really enjoy playing softer characters (not “crybabies”, but less intense) and I like the contrasting personalities!
Pls be semi-lit to novella! Really anything in the middle of that range is perfect.
I rp in and out of fandoms! But I don’t like to rp canon characters or doubling up.
I LOVE brainstorming plots and events in an rp! So an ooc is essential for me.
Ocs:
Ahlia(wip)
Atani(wip)
Fandoms:
The Last of us, Avatar(Blue People), Avatar(Bald kid), The Legend of Korra, Arcane, Spiderverse, Castlevania(Netflix Series), Any Rick Riordan Series lmao (“Heroes of Olympus” being a favorite)
Genres/Tropes:
Found family, Enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, survival together, fantasy, sci-fi, slice of life
For pairings I mainly do MxF! But I have also done FxF! all my ocs are Pan so any pairing works really. I would just like to be the F in each.
Here is a short drabble about my favorite oc for you to get a feel of my rp style!
Ahlia is quiet, peaceful, and relatively easy-going. She’s very sympathetic and cares about others, yet tries to hide or reserve her own emotions, seeking instead to influence others through gentleness and cooperation. She is good at resolving conflicts and problems by way of making sensible compromises but, on the other hand, she may also be too self-sacrificing or unambitious in the name of avoiding conflict. Ahlia rarely becomes angered or annoyed with people, but it most often shows itself in silent treatments, sudden outbursts, and complaints under her breath.
Rules:
❥I am Lit to Advanced Lit. But I do tend to mirror whoever I am rping with. So pls try to stay within the Lit/Adv range. I do reach the see all mark somewhat often, multiple posts if its warranted, but half posts are fine too! Especially if there isn’t much to write about lmao. I hate when people fill in reply space with unnecessary things just to get to the “see all”.
❥I dont rush for replies, so pls dont do the same. But if you will be very late for a reply for whatever reason, heads up would be nice. Even just saying you forgot or weren’t feeling it at the moment is alright, because it happens to me a lot.
❥Please pm me for rp requests if you are sure you will have the time. I get into so many good rps with people only for them to ghost me without an explanation. If you are unresponsive for more than two weeks without some sort of explanation or heads up I’ll probably leave.
❥I do enjoy some 🕊️ topics! But I also have limits. Topics like racism, homophobia, and excessive gore are not really something I am into. Though things like SA are alright for me as long as there is none of it actually taking place in the present of the rp. (Ofc I understand with the fandoms I am a part of (especially TLOU), the topic can be brought up and posed as a realistic threat). This goes for romantic and platonic plots.
❥I am not really fond of nsfw. Just makes me a bit uncomfortable to write. But I am open to fade to blacks after a certain point.
❥I am BLACK. PUHLEASE don’t message me with weird race kink shit or assume I’m white and starting being the most racist person alive omg I didn’t realize so many people were like that here😭
I hope we can create something fun together! Just comment or message me if interested!

god i dont know how this shit works still so im sending you the same question here, how would u do an azula redemption arc?
the thing about azula’s redemption is that realizing the error of her ways is only the first step; she needs to earn it. that said, she also needs to be shown empathy and tenderness, to be proven that people are capable of it, and capable of directing it towards her. azula’s arc must a) understand the weight of the harm she has caused b) make tangible amends where she can c) be good without expecting a reward d) realize that she doesn’t have to be perfect e) realize that she can be forgiven f) realize that she can be loved.
to answer this question, i am going to write a semi-thorough outline of how i would structure a post-canon spinoff series of atla. this is not a fourth season of atla, but a series that is supplementary to canon. i say this because the narrative structure of it would not work as a fourth season. i would structure azula’s redemption arc as vignettes sewn together, and somewhat eschew linear chronology. this isn’t to say i think this is the only narrative decision that works, but simply how i would choose to write it. and please keep in mind, this is merely an outline.
before i break down the “episodes,” i need to address the other existing continuations of atla.
legend of korra: actually this one is easy bc azula is never mentioned. next!
the comics: they do azula so dirty i refuse to read them as any sort of canon continuation of her arc whatsoever. the comics are also bad for a whole other slew of reasons. (this isn’t mentioning imbalance, which i enjoyed, but in which azula does not feature.)
measure each step to infinity: chell made me shout this out, and people have been imploring me to read the whole thing forever. i will not. i do not like it. disrespecting aang is an automatic red flag. next.
the series will be structured as “life-changing field trips.” first, is
SOKKA GAME: azula’s first introduction to hubris as downfall is when sokka casually offers to play her in pai sho. they agree to best of three; azula wins the first round easily, loses the second round easily, and loses the third round with slightly more difficulty but still in embarrassingly record speeds. having never lost a game of pai sho in her life, she is distraught. over the course of the game, they discuss war, imperialism, and sovereignty. one conversation isn’t enough to change her mind on all she was brought up believing, of course, but it plants some seeds. she decides she never wants to play sokka in pai sho again. but a year later, he offers again, and she is determined to prove herself. she loses, but it’s a closer match. that, in itself, is a small victory.
TOPH HIKE: a series of moments once a week spanning years. the one constant in azula’s life becomes toph, who is very reliable indeed. she is not scared of azula and never was, and she is empathetic enough to reach out. she takes her on hikes, same time every week, without fail. at first, azula is apprehensive that toph is planning to kill her. then she believes it to be some sort of test, a sick game. they walk in silence, though occasionally azula will say something snarky, which toph has learned to ignore. eventually, azula begins to talk. and toph listens, and commiserates, and pushes her in the right direction vis a vis getting her shit together. toph is the best therapist.
AANG ADVENTURE: remember that time azula murdered aang? yeah, so do they. it’s all they can think about now, trapped in the swamp together. aang asserts that it shouldn’t be difficult to get out if they just walk straight ahead, eventually the path will clear. but somehow, it doesn’t. azula’s emotional turbulence is making way for mirages galore. she runs into ursa (of course), ozai, zuko, ty lee, mai, suki, katara, azulon, sozin, iroh. aang sees gyatso, he sees his friends, his people. and azula sees them too. the entire nation her great-grandfather wiped out, and the sole remnant of it she nearly killed. looking at this boy in front of her, who is so powerful, and yet trying so hard to be gracious to her despite having every reason to hate her, and realizing that he shoulders enormous burdens she doesn’t actually know anything about, she breaks down in tears. aang helps her calm down. eventually, they decide they’re gonna find their way out this swamp. they run into toph, who says, “i thought i might find you losers here,” and gracefully shows them the way out.
AZULA ALONE: finally, after a good couple years of waiting for the opportunity, azula manages to make her escape. she is so fucking sick of being under zuko’s watch, under zuko’s authority, and all she wants is to leave. her hikes with toph are, she will admit, a pleasant breath of fresh air, but it’s not remotely close to freedom. she hitchhikes all the way to an ex-colony in the middle of a river, where she doubts she will ever be found. she knows she can’t stay forever, but she is tired of running, so she decides to stay for at least a couple of days. it is here that she meets dock (or is it xu?) who tells her about the waterbender who saved their village. well, azula only knows one waterbender: sokka’s sister, whatsherface. (she hasn’t actually seen katara since the comet, which is more than fine with her!!!!) then, they tell her about how the new firelord freed them from fire nation occupation, and how their economy is functional and their quality of life has drastically improved. azula scoffs at the adulation with which they speak of katara and zuko, as if they are heroes. that night, she realizes that she does not have enough money for food (she pickpocketed a guy she hitched a ride from earlier, but she had to spend it all on the ferry across the river). a little boy overhears her, and before she can protest, drags her by the hand to his house, where his family welcome her and offer her their food. she’s uncomfortable; there is so little of it as it is, but they insist that they have plenty. she watches them casually, lovingly interact over a meager meal, and she is still unable to place that pit of longing in her heart. the next day, she is greeted by none other than suki, who merely rolls her eyes and says, “come on, you don’t really want to stay here, do you?” and azula sighs and says, “no... i suppose not.”
SUKI FAVOR: long timeskip. (but also crucial that the previous episode ended on suki so that her character is fresh in the minds of the audience.) the kyoshi warriors were the only people zuko trusted to guard azula at first. we see this in the earlier episodes when they are guarding azula, but we do not see them reacting to her. eventually, the kyoshi warriors go back to kyoshi island, and while zuko still keeps azula at arm’s length, he also knows that she isn’t a danger to herself or others. azula hasn’t seen suki in a while when she returns to the palace. now that suki is there for another purpose, not as her prisoner, and not as her prisoner, azula sees her humanity, and is overcome with guilt at the memory of what she did. she is determined to prove to suki that she deserves her forgiveness. she does a series of favors for suki which do nothing to earn suki’s favor, and eventually suki says “im not going to help you ease your conscience. are you penitent, or do you just want to be absolved?” and it is then that azula realizes that she is penitent. and she proves it.
KATARA SHOWDOWN: one morning, azula awakes to the realization that she cannot bend. she freaks out, naturally, and demands to know if the avatar is behind this. aang assures that he is not. she can still produce a low, simmering flame, which means she hasn’t lost her fire entirely; it’s just… gone out. this time, when she leaves, it is because zuko has deemed her ready (he trusts toph and sokka’s opinions on the matter, and they sort of actually like her). this time, she makes it all the way to the south pole. she sees a lot on the journey there. she has never been this far south, and it dawns on her just how much of the world she hasn’t seen. just how young she was, still is. she gets trapped in a blizzard, and would freeze to death (fireless) if it weren’t for a man finding her out in the cold and bringing her back into town. there, she wakes up to katara’s furious face as she demands to know what azula is doing here. azula tells her the truth, and katara scoffs. there’s no way she’s supposed to believe that, what? azula is just...on holiday? they get each other so riled up that they end up fistfighting in the snow in the middle of town, and it is only when azula does not defend herself against katara’s waterbending that katara falters. maybe she really has changed.
IROH APOLOGY: the fact that no one in ba sing se recognizes azula as she enters their walls does not surprise her; they were always a particularly incompetent bunch. she finds the jasmine dragon easily, as everyone claims it is the best tea shop in the city. “wow,” azula says dryly, “the whole city????” iroh is somewhat stunned to see her. zuko had told him about her, of course, but it’s different when you haven’t seen your niece in person since she had you thrown in prison. which, yes, is how long it’s been. she orders a ginseng, and never takes her eyes off him as he prepares it. if her intention is to unnerve him (which it certainly is) it’s working. she drinks it so properly she does not look human, and she talks to him only in niceties. he responds just as politely. he asks her about her travels, and she tells him. he seems surprised that she is willing to admit that she was wrong in the past, willing to admit the error of their once-shared imperialist agenda. “why not?” azula asks. what differentiates them, other than the fact that she successfully took ba sing se where he could not? is it the fact that he was significantly older when he became enlightened? is it the fact that he had always discarded her, deemed her irreparably broken? he says “no, of course not,” and she says, “don’t bullshit me, uncle.” they are taking a walk through the city, that still stands despite their legacies, when they apologize. they both owe apologies, and are owed apologies. and they accept it.
ZUKO PROOF: it takes a really long time for zuko to fully forgive azula, and when he does, there is still a big part of azula that doesn’t even understand why. (she chalks it up to naïveté.) it takes a much longer time for zuko to truly trust her. this episode is a series of moments in which azula proves herself worthy of that trust. it takes a lot, because zuko thinks it’s all part of a long game, where she’s trying to earn his trust to eventually betray him. above all, she has to prove she has no interest in the throne. she has to prove that her vulnerability isn’t an act, and that she’s not lying, and that she wants to zuko’s trust so desperately that she will prove it. zuko tells her to pack a bag. she asks where it is that he intends on taking her. “to get your firebending back,” he says. it is only when the dragons deem her worthy that zuko’s final doubts can be allayed. azula cries when she realizes what firebending can be, that firebending can feel good, like love instead of approval. her flames are never blue again.
additional notes:
azula does not confront ursa, mai, or ty lee. not for a long time, at least. some wounds never heal, and you just have to learn to live with it, to live without it. we see, in hints elsewhere, that mai and ty lee are okay.
azula does not have some earth-shattering realization that ozai was a bad father/leader either. it is far more gradual than that.
azula does not deserve suki or aang’s forgiveness, but she gets it anyway.
she does befriend toph and sokka, who manage to forgive her once zuko does, and they both think she’s a riot, but she and katara maintain a relationship of mutual hostility/grudging respect for the rest of their lives.
it is crucial that azula shedding her nationalism is emphasized throughout her arc. she needs to realize that everything she grew up believing, about power, fear, superiority, the divine right to rule, etc. is all bullshit. she needs to learn to value globalism and kindness.
this is a rough sketch of the timeline:

20 Fic Writer Questions
Finally getting around to this. Thanks for the tags @rasnak2 @theboyfrommakapu @old-and-new-friends
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
37
2) What’s your total AO3 word count?
798,770. I want to do something when I get to one million, but that might be cry? I dunno, suggestions welcome.
3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Technically three: Avatar: Legend of Korra; Avatar: The Last Airbender; and Harry Potter. But I only have one ATLA fic and the HP one was a crossover. The vast majority of what I write is LOK.
4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
“AWOL,” my S2 re-write
“Glass,” my sequel to that
“Firestorm,” my sequel to that
“Smoke,” an Equalist Asami fic
“The Lies We Tell Ourselves,” a post S1 fix-it where Iroh and Asami become roommates.
Which, now that I see this, I kind of love? Sometimes I feel like there’s a lot of pressure to write shorter, fluffier fics because they’re “fun” or whatever. And they are fun, don’t get me wrong. Sometimes I need the brain break to write something like "Hotman" or "Mangosami." But it’s a nice reminder that over time what readers seem to enjoy the most are what I’d also consider my more “serious” writing, and that it’s okay for me to indulge in long multi-chapter fics even if they don’t deliver quick wins. If someone asked me for five fics of mine to recommend I’d not be at all disappointed with this list.
5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Sometimes? I need to work on this. I love comments. I love them so much. But I have a few regular readers who are kind enough to comment on a lot of chapters, and I feel like I’m bothering them if I respond to every comment? Which maybe I shouldn’t? I don’t know. I’m so grateful for every reader and comment that I worry about chasing people away by being too needy. But then I love it when authors respond to my comments, so...?
6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
“Yao Li’s Blade” for sure, my fic about Ozai’s hair stylist. It’s not even close. My Irosami is all angst with a happy ending — though “Smoke” may tip that balance by the time I finish it.
7) What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
Hard to say because I have a lot of HEA-type endings. I’m very partial to the Epilogue in “Glass” though.
8) Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
Very rarely, and only when I’m in a very silly mood to match. I think the only one I’ve posted is “Asami Sato and the Goblet of Fire,” which is a little one-shot imagining Asami as a muggle exchange student and Iroh as one of the Durmstrang competitors during Book 4. Asami is a Slytherin, by the way, and all y’all who put her in Ravenclaw are missing a trick. I consider this one of my most under-appreciated stories.
9) Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Not often, but yes. 100% of it is from Korrasami shippers calling me homophobic for shipping a canonically bi female character with a male. I used to try to respond and ask for constructive feedback on how I could make Asami feel more bi in my stories, but I’ve never gotten any, so now I delete comments like that and then feel like shit for a week before moving on.
10) Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes. Not well. And not… hard, I guess? All of my Irosami smut is of the sweet and rather giggly kind between two people who obviously love each other, and that one Kuviroh fic is just Iroh being drunk and awkward. Fluffy smut. Flut?
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don’t think so. I’d honestly be a little flattered? Also pissed, but really the idea that anyone cares enough about my writing to steal it is absurd.
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I know of.
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I’m currently co-writing “Harmonic Convergence” with @ideklolwat, and @the-hopefulpenguin and I started something together that’s on a little hiatus as we both got busy with other projects. It’s a learning experience for me for sure.
14) What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Tumblr media
15) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I WILL FINISH EVERY FIC IF IT’S THE LAST THING I DO
16) What are your writing strengths?
I’m not entirely sure. I used to think it was writing emotions but the more I read of other people’s work the more I doubt that assessment. Maybe something like fleshing out main characters? I’ve been told a few times that my Asami and especially my Iroh are better than canon. But I’m not as good with side characters.
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
Oh god, probably everything, but the thing that’s bothering me at the moment is trying to insert descriptions and movement into dialog. I can’t figure out how to say what is going on without breaking the conversation flow. I’m also shit at world building in the sense that I mostly make things up. I am awed by writers who do a ton of research and bring those elements into their stories. Most of what I have feels kind of modern AU even when it isn't.
18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I rarely have cause for this. It seems like everyone in the Avatar world speaks the same language. But I’ve had some fun throwing in allusions to other languages, such as creating a bit of a dialect for Southwest Earth Kingdom that mostly manifests in the pronunciation of names, or having someone study “old Omashan,” or having there be a song in another language and Iroh’s like “I have no idea what it means, I just thought it was pretty.”
19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Legend of Korra. I’m relatively new to fan fiction.
20) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
I don’t pick favorites. I love them all in different ways.

Fic Writer Review!
Thanks @mssirey for the tag! I totally didn't have a crisis with the very last question, not at all bwhahaha
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
41, soon to be 42. ASJKLDBLAHSDSD how. And also why. But mostly, how.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
565,934 EXCUSE ME WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. I was going to check my unpublished works but ya know what. Maybe I've written enough akdjsa
3. How many fandoms have you written for?
Technically speaking, I've written and published fics for five fandoms. However, I only have one story for OUAT (and I have @shadowdianne to thank for that... or do I?) and one for Captain Marvel. Mirandy was my first love, Cissamione the second, and Supercorp has burrowed in my brain and just won't let go.
I've also technically written for Xena, Legend of Korra, and Criminal Minds, but since I never published those, we're going to pretend they don't exist!
4. Top 5 fics by kudos?
Only two are WIPs! YEAH! They're the top two, but WHO CARES, here they are:
1) Perhaps, aka my baby, my child, my darling, the apple of my eye. If I ever had to choose to finish only ONE of my WIPs, this would be the one. This story has grown with me, and I think you can tell when you read. Or maybe not!
2) For the Better. If the former is my baby, this one is like... my moody teenager. I love it dearly, but... it takes a lot out of me. An ode to one of the first fandoms I actively wrote for, it sits unfinished, but nearly, oh so nearly done. I will finish it, damn ittt.
3) The Date. Honestly, this one really surprised me -- it's one of my oldest one-shots, and something I definitely dashed off between lectures back in Scotland, maybe alternating with FtB chapters. It's one of my first attempts at humour, I think.
4) Bits and Pieces. AYY, I wasn't sure Supercorp would make the cut, WOOOT! This one was the second Supercorp fic I ever wrote, and I did it because Lena Is Baby and the idea just wouldn't leave my brain.
And lastly, the fabulous number 5... Perfect. AKA Nara's First (published) Explicit Fic, featuring Praise Kink and an Enchanted Dildo (for... reasons). I'm not gonna lie, I am so HAPPY this one made it, because it has a special place in my heart. It's where Soft Butch Hermione comes to life, and if you don't love Soft Butch Hermione, I'm sorry, we can't be friends. I love her.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
Eeermmm... some? I do want to respond, but I'm terrible with keeping up with comments, I really am. For whatever reason, even when I do my best, I don't really love responding directly on AO3. I also turned off all email notifications for AO3 because turns out my brain WILL be distracted by even a single one.
I'm much more responsive on Tumblr, I promise!
6. A fic you've written with the angstiest ending:
Any of my Narlily works, I guess? Like... All Flowers Wither or Carry On.
Unshackled would be another one, though it's Cissamione... but I caved and made a happy(ish) second part for that one.
7. Do you write crossovers?
Nope! Crossovers just don't do it for me, generally speaking (reading or writing).
8. Ever received hate on a fic?
EvEr rEcEIvEd hAtE-- yes. Oh, yes. I've been told my writing is terrible, I've been told my stories were a 'waste of time,' or 'overhyped,' I've had people tell me there was only One Way to write a certain pairing and my way was definitely Not The Way.
The list goes on.
It used to really, really bother me--still does, but in a much smaller way. Delete/Block buttons are my friends.
9. Do you write smut?
I write an absurd amount of smut. I just don't publish any of it because. Fear.
My pretty, pretty pens have created some filthy, filthy things.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
A couple of times -- only once or twice like, straight up attributed to someone else who acted like they were the one writing it. The other times were reposts or translations (without my permission, so still. stolen).
11. Ever had a fic translated?
I've authorized a couple of translations of a few of my DWP works. I'm usually cool with people translating my stuff IF THEY ASK ME FIRST and GIVE ME PROPER CREDIT.
9/10 it's some Brazilian who translates it to Portuguese without my permission and then gets upset when I, another Brazilian, do not endorse it and politely ask them to take the thing down. Thankfully it's been a while. ASK ME, DAMN IT.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic?
Nothing published bwhaha!
13. All-time favourite ship?
Right now SuperCorp is definitely barking a little louder, so to speak, but I don't really have one favourite overall. It depends on the fandom, sometimes! Cissamione is very dear to my heart, because it's just so fucking out there and literally every one in this ship has some of the most fascinating headcanons for this pairing and it's just. So wonderful.
14. WIP you want to finish, but don't think you ever will?
Eeeeuuughhh.... Right now? Probably The Appraisal. I forget what I wanted to do with it, I'm not sure if I'm still feeling the premise... IDK.
I think the same could be said of For the Better, but I PROMISED to finish it, and GOD DAMN IT, I am so close I can't throw in the towel just yet.
15. Writing strengths?
You want ME to say good things about MYSELF? I'm still learning how to do that asldkjbasdn it's a work in progress. But I think I'd say... maybe world-building, at least on my longer works?
I would also like to think I do pretty OK in... IDK, some of the punchy stuff? The 'oh wait a minute' moment? IDK if that makes sense!
16. Writing weaknesses?
Organizing. Plot (HAHA IKR). Consistency. Editing (which is rich from someone who literally edits shit for a living... but go figure). Pacing. Weirdly long sentences? Commas for DAYS.
I could go on.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
I am a-OK attempting it in French/Spanish/Portuguese. It may not sound natural, but it will be correct. If I'm trying another language, I'll definitely get help! But I've got no problem with it.
18. First fandom you ever wrote for?
Harry Potter, Dramione specifically, and you'll never find a shred of it. I was like 12, and almost a decade later I figured out Hermione was much better off with Draco's mother.
19. What's your fav fic you've written so far?
DON'T MAKE ME CHOOOSE asdkljasdl I CAAANNN'TTTT
I mean, obviously Perhaps is one of them -- it is my baby, that has been established. I think Little Bumps in the Road is also up there, because it was just a random writing exercise that got out of hand, and honestly? I'm here for it. Andddd.... I GUESS I'll put A Valentine's Evening up there as well, because it was the first time I didn't second guess every word I wrote when posting smut. I just... felt it, went for it, wrote it, and it felt really, really good to release some of that into the world lol
WHEW, this was a long one! I'll be tagging @intheinkpot, @shadowdianne, @delirious-comfort, and @16-pennies because I am a curious bastard. But, as always, feel free to treat this as an open tag. Go nuts!

ATLAB / LOK and Nickelodeon’s Enforced Gendered Viewership.
https://thesummoningdark.tumblr.com/post/619001411756310528/gayna-scully-prokopetz-silkktheshocka With regards to this long ass post. (And I’m gonna slightly deviate from the original topic.) The really messed up thing with Nick, with concern to Korra. I read somewhere that when they were first doing concept designs for LOK, that the Nick execs railed against a female avatar cause they thought/(wanted to market) Avatar Last Airbender as strictly a Boys show. When faced with the designs of a really buff, muscular Korra, Nick wasnt overly keen, because they thought her supposed lack of femininity would put boys off
Tumblr media
They wanted her to be more feminine (even though Korra was meant to be a more physical Avatar in comparison to Aang.) And Mako would be more front and centre in aiding Korra. Guess what they found when they market tested the designs?  Girls were absolutely thrilled. And the boys? The boys couldn’t give two shits about Korra’s supposed lack of femininity. They loved the fact she could punch through shit. They thought Korra’s design was ‘cool’ and ‘badass’!
Tumblr media
(my opinion) So whilst the Nick execs were all patting themselves on the back that their fucked up view and enforced gendering of viewer ship still carried some weight, they obviously didnt think to actually look/take on board the actual content of ATLAB and maybe wonder why exactly it was so immensely popular and who exactly the fandom base was made up of.
Tumblr media
ATLAB had some of the strongest, most well rounded female characters on tv at the time. There’s a reason why Azula, Katara and Toph are so popular. Why Suki, Ty Lee and Mai are so beloved.
Not a single one of them is a damsel in distress. Hell, more often than not they handed the boys their ass in a fight.  Azula and Katara are bending masters in their respective element at 14 and Toph, a blind girl, at 11, in a world that it is heavily implied that most bending Adults have not reached that level of skill.  Toph creates her own off shoot of Earth Bending by being the first metal bender.  Azula is seen as an outlier by being able to create and bend lightening, never mind her signature and unique blue flame. Katara, under duress, masters  the rare ability to blood bend,  (being second person to do so that we know of in ATLAB) and has such a command of waterbending she can quite literally suck moisture out of the ground creating a barrier that torrential rain cannot penetrate.
Tumblr media
Even in the small snippet we get of Avatar Kyoshi, she is ruthless and takes no prisoners.  (and one of the main reasons why people have been clamoring for Kyoshi content spawning the books the ‘Rise of Kyoshi’ and the sequel that is following this year, ‘Shadow of Kyoshi’.)
Tumblr media
If the Nick execs had cared to take notice of the themes and arcs of some of the characters they might have seen how part of Sokka’s character arc was growing from an ignorant misogynist to a young adult who learned over time and regularly took a hefty gulp of respect women juice.  (A message that the Nick Execs might have benefited from when dealing with LOK.)
Aang, the titular protagonist learns bending from two of his female peers and often defers to their superior skill and knowledge, until he masters them. Were the Nick execs that dense that they genuinely believed that all these amazing female characters, created by Bryke and colab narratives by Ehasz, were there to appeal only to boys?  To represent boys? The ratio of male to female main heroes/villains is 3 boys, 6 girls and 2 male adults. (one adult we dont even see until the last season.) The ATLAB fandom was massively made up of girls, and by virtue those girls would more than likely migrate to LOK, specifically because it was a female Avatar hoping for the same depth of character and positive representation, which makes Nick’s whole fucked up enforcing of gendered viewership all the more baffling.  Again, had the Nick Execs not watched ATLAB if they thought they could tout it as ‘just’ another action show and its subsequent spin off LOK?
ATLAB at it’s core is about the interpersonal relationships, the struggles one faces when growing up, dealing with dark themes in a way that kids can understand and older viewers can relate. The war is the back drop, the action part of the draw but not main spectacle.
Had they not done their research, saw the trend of who exactly the audience consisted of and thought, ‘hey maybe its a good idea to maybe stop enforcing, dictating gendered viewership?’ and maybe not continue to labour under the belief that ‘girls dont like action’! Legend of Korra and ATLAB are still being discussed to this day and not only because it has the industry standard of redemption arcs by which all redemption arcs since have tried to emulate and hold a candle to. (SPOP I’m looking in your direction, congrats btw.) but also because of its representation, strong female characters and compelling villains.  Outside of Korra (/Asami), guess who are the most popular characters? Kuvira and Lin Beifong.
Tumblr media
Now getting back to the actual content of the OG post. There aint alot or ATLAB or LOK merch in general outside of comics and plushies.  (There was a poor attempt made at merchandsing on the M Night Shabigamoo’s god awful adaptation..... but shhhhhhhh, we aint even gonna get into that.) But of the merchandise that is available one in particular stands out as being in high demand.
Tumblr media
I typed into google ‘Azula Funko Pop’ and this is the first image!
(Look at that price, it’s insane!)
Now that might be a case of price gouging because she was a US Gamestop exclusive but it in no way detracts from the fact that FUNKO POP is aware of just how popular Azula is therefore by virtue she is a prime candidate for exclusivity and would have collectors clamoring to buy her.
Even Aang in the Avatar state isn’t an exclusive nor is the new Legend of Korra funkos that were meant to be released this June/July ,( which now might be pushed back Covid19 pending).
Now, who exact was Azula created for?  Yes, a foil for Zuko and a way to explore familial dysfunction, a mirror to what Zuko could have been if he hadn't been banished and had the support and guidance of his Uncle Iroh. Her subsequent mental breakdown is heart wrenching and a compelling take on what goes on underneath a villain’s impenetrable armor, that the ravages and victims of war are not just found in the body count.
But for most of the show, Azula is flouncing round the world with her two more than capable and dangerous in their own right, sidekicks, Ty Lee and Mai thrashing the gAang for the most part, kicking ass and taking names whilst also successfully heading a relatively bloodless coup of Ba Sing Se.
Tumblr media
How on earth with all that could Nick still be so bull headed as to continue to double down on maintaining it be a show strictly marketed to boys and then get pissed when it when girls flocked to it? And the comments made in the OG post are correct. Nick showed their displeasure by fucking around with LOK’s time slot on more than one occasion, claimed it’s ratings were dropping (no shit sherlock, wonder why?) before moving it to the web. (where ironically, it thrived.) and then they slashed it’s budget forcing Bryke to trim the animation in places, namely the outfits of the characters, so they could put the money towards the animation of scenes they had been building up to such as Korra’s style of metal bending, which would be more fluid given her OG element was water.
Tumblr media
Now imagine the show we might have gotten if Nick hadn’t been a bunch of arseholes, hadn’t tried to enforce their outdated misogynistic views and thrown a massive hissyfit?
Roll on the live action re-imagining with Bryke at the helm. I’m sure Netflix wont be trying to claim or market it as ‘a show strictly for boys’! And thankyou to Bryke, for this.
