Started the 4th season of Stranger Things, gonna post my thoughts as I finish episodes so like, potential spoiler alert

okay so episode one

The entire Jonathan/Nancy scene made me so angry lmao STOP WASTING MY TIME WITH THIS GARBAGE

The whole tone is different?? Like the previous seasons had that kinda tropey jokey feeling from time to time but it took itself a little more seriously, especially season 1. But this one is like... wacky silly camera angles and sweeping swinging shots between scenes and goofy wacky prop comedy hehe finishing each other's sentences even though they're not together or talking about the same thing uhhhhhh it's just very silly

Not that that is BAD... just different

I like Eddie so far though. I thought he was gonna be a little Too Much™️ but by the end of the episode I decided that yes I like him. I can already see there being a point later on when his whole "theres no shame in running away" line is gonna either come in clutch or come back to bite him or someone else in the ass. Im gonna make a prediction that there's gonna be a scene where there's an option to run or fight and he's gonna stay and fight and then either save the day or die valiantly. Bonus points if throughout the show he constantly says to run away or chooses to run away until finally he's like "no, not this time" and then bam dead

I'm not mad at the whole "Lucas wants to be popular while the rest are content with being freaks" drama. Like I know it's kinda overdone but this show has always played into the popular tropes to create some tension between the characters so I don't think it's too weird

Eleven's drama is fine too. Being the new kid and getting bullied and also grappling with grief of losing her parent, I get it. She's acting kinda pitiful though? Like, she's always been really straightforward and strong and unyielding and now she's kinda just... rolling over? I understand she's in an entirely new environment and dealing with grief and loss of her abilities but still....

Pretty sure the skull monster thing is Papa. Maybe. Idk like it's weird that they're showing it so immediately in the first episode and it's just... preying on people's trauma, I'm guessing? Strange. But not Stranger Things Strange.

Idk so far I'm wondering how it's going to connect to the past seasons. Right now it feels like I'm watching a whole different show.

God I just hope there's less Nancy and Jonathan. Or their entire fucking plot lines aren't completely about their stupid fucking terrible romance. They have no chemistry and I despise their whole shtick. They'd be so much better characters if their stories were based more around being a big brother/sister to Will and Mike

Honestly idc about any of the romances other than Joyce and Hopper. Unless Steve and Eddie fuck because I'd be amenable to that. I might care about Robyn and Vickie but haven't seen enough of Vickie yet so who knows, they might wind up as boring as Jonathan and Nancy (or any of the kids' romances which I also don't care about even though they're not really terrible or whatever)

Erica is perfect as always though. I reeeeeeally liked the scene where that chick is singing the national anthem and Erica and the boys are slow motion walking to their dnd game. With the American flag cape? You can't spell America without Erica!

No further comments. Will watch another episode tomorrow

A/N: so sukuna was making me feel some kinda way thanks to that anon who talked about sukuna and favourites so i decided to write something about him and maybe this trope is kinda overdone but u know what? idc! i’m tired of pretending sukuna isn’t sexy and a demon and the way he could have a favoeuite !! so yea anyway hope you enjoy!! just had to write about him today damn 😔✋

You were his favourite.

Out of all the hordes of people he could have at his disposal, Sukuna found something in you that just invited him to get closer and closer. Like fire. Calling him to get warm but at the same time fight the temptation of touching the hot essence that was your soul.

Sukuna still remembers the first time he saw you as if it was yesterday; facing down at your feet with fear as the priests you once thought were God’s right hand were pushing you to the Devil’s grip. Submit and survive, that’s what they said.

Submit and survive for the greater good of the village.

You didn’t know if you wanted to be angry and scream with impotence or take a chance to run away as fast as you could when Sukuna didn’t even spare you a glance, let alone a comment. But your will to live with dignity was stronger than your ego and all the unworthy people in your village. You had a new goal.

Be invisible. Don’t let the King of Curses know of your existence. Become less than nothing under his scornful gaze and survive to get your revenge on the heads of the village.

And that’s what you thought you were doing right the first few weeks until Sukuna himself handpicked you among the rest of his followers desperate to get his attention. How? It’s still a mystery to this day but you weren’t going to become another corpse by him.

Sukuna really enjoyed the way you still had fight in you even after hours of him holding you against your will. You were feisty and he could feel the hatred inside you but, surprisingly enough, it wasn’t against him. At least not all of it.

Interesting.

No way in hell he was going to give up now that you had something he wanted to know, to possess. And day after day, Sukuna tried to break you in many ways, watching as the barrier that protected your essence broke little by little every time he barely touched your skin, red eyes studying you with something you couldn’t describe.

Nothing was better than taming a wild beast into submission.

Because the day you finally gave up to your deepest desires after fighting them –fighting yourself– you let Sukuna taint every single part of your soul with his lewd touch and mouths. But figure towering over you as if his shadow was meant to consume you since the beginning.

And when Sukuna finally marked you, a black line adorning your neck and wrists to become his and only his as you moaned his name like a prayer, that’s when you became his favourite.

You just took him so good Sukuna became addicted, keeping you all to himself next to him almost in fear of someone stealing you from him.

Sukuna adored you. From the way your body was so used to him by now it was almost in auto pilot, to the way you still bit back at him at every chance you got. He was totally infatuated by you and it was no secret to the jealous eyes of his followers.

But the hatred was still there. Your hunger of revenge bigger than your adoration for the King of Curses (if such feeling even existed), the fight within you never dying down even when you had all the privileges you could have. However, it wasn’t Sukuna’s fault, no. You just really wanted to kill those priests who cover the atrocious meaning of his gatherings under a mask of faith.

You would do anything.

The feeling of Sukuna’s fingertips traced your arm as you laid down next to him after bedding you was making you feel tranquil, something you thought you had forgotten a long time ago. The warmth emanating from his naked body behind you that you grew accustomed to and the feeling of his fangs sinking into your shoulder from time to time.

This would’ve been nice if it wasn’t all a lie. A prison keeping you from your destiny.

Your eyes landed on your marked wrists that matched with his and you knew that the moment was close. It didn’t matter anymore.

“You fool.” Sukuna’s whisper came to your ears as a low echo, his two pairs of red eyes looking at you from shove with sorrow as a sly smirk covered his face, contradicting himself.

It all felt it happened in a matter of seconds: the usual fighting and the usual angry sex before you admitted you were leaving, even if he didn’t want to, even if he had to kill you. You weren’t going to stop.

You expected every reaction except the sharp pain that invaded your body from the core of your chest.

You looked down with a blurry sight only to be met with his hand piercing right through your heart, blood spattering on the ground as you turned your head to look at Sukuna behind you. But you weren’t strong enough, falling to your knees as his arms wrapped around you and your mind started to shut down.

Pathetic. You were pathetic.

A bitter smile creeped up your face as you kept getting lost into those same red eyes, matching the small droplets of your blood in his face.

“All you had to do was listen to me, little human. I gave you everything.”

Your eyes started to feel heavy and, even at this state, you could feel the anger flowing within you because of his words; you wanted to spit on him.

“Couldn’t let you go just like that. You are my favourite.”

Sukuna’s deep voice started feeling further away as you finally gave up to the inevitable. But, if something more existed out there, you were sure you would never forget his words and what you could think was a hint of a tear on his eye or an illusion from the tears in your own.

“I will meet you in your next life. You’re never getting away from me. Even if I must kill you a thousand times. You’re mine. Always mine.”

lol your recap just reminded me, when I was a kid I absolutely LOVED the show Ben 10, and in that there was a running joke where all the members of the same family had rhyming names. Like the main character is named Ben, he's got a cousin named Gwen and then her brother is named Ken. That has the same energy as the Amelie/Emilie thing in Felix

Lolol, I never watched Ben 10, but I know exactly what you mean. I think ML is trying to up it even more by having their names be SO similar lol. And I think they’re supposed to be twins too? Which to me makes it sort of even more ridiculous, like especially when they’re pronounced in French, it musta been so confusing for them growing up - it’s like one sound different.

The rhyming thing is super funny too! ML even has that in the Couffaine family - Luka, Juleka, Arnaka lolll.

There’s a lot of good naming stuff going on in Miraculous tbh. Let me tell you, I laughed for a good five minutes when I found out the mayor’s last name was Bourgeois lol. And then Dupain for Tom the Baker, Mendeleiev for the science teacher, and even Kagami means mirror, and she’s a mirror for Adrien in a lot of ways. Penny Rolling, and Jagged Stone, Rolling Stone?? I mean, I could go on lol.

This is a trope I love in cartoons, it’s such a simple way to give us more insight into the characters, idc if it’s overdone or “obvious” it’s fun lol 🤷🏼‍♀️

It's......been awhile since the last one, because I haven't really had the time to watch new shows since I started working, but I binge-watched two new shows yesterday, so y'all get a rec post.

NOTE: Both shows are still airing and will be finished sometime in June, something which MY FRIENDS SHOULD'VE REALLY TOLD ME WHEN THEY RECCED THE SHOWS TO ME.

Like okay most of y'all should know that time travel is like my favourite cdrama trope. Like idc if it's really overdone or cliché or sometimes just outright trashy, I'm just weak for it okay???? If you're not into that, you can skip this post, because both shows are time travel webdramas.

#1 萌妻食神 Cinderella Chef

“Our heroine is a time-traveling person who becomes the daughter of an official who is then kidnapped to a bandits tribe where our hero is currently working as a spy. With her superb cooking and modern street smarts, she makes a name for herself while struggling to handle a fake marriage with the hero.” - MDL summary

UHM. This was the one I started out with, and to be really honest with y’all, I only watched this because Abs told me that the male lead looked like Shawn Dou (she was Not Lying, his whole look reminded me of Shawn Dou in Chu Qiao Zhuan), and I wasn’t expecting too much from this show, but it was surprisingly adorable??? Like hooo boy, it’s so light and funny AND I LOVE IT? So many moments of secondhand embarrassment, and honestly, I’m low key in love with Zhong Dan Ni who plays the female lead because she’s just so adorable.

I know they’re trying for some plot and ~dark mysterious spy stuff~, but honestly I’m just here for when the male lead admits that he’s accidentally fallen for the female lead. I basically Live for the moments where Chun Yu is really Soft™ for Yao Yao that he can’t help just doing nice things for her or just smiling when he thinks of her. Boy is so gone but he can’t admit it AND I DIG IT.

Featuring fun tropes like arranged marriage, fake marriage, misunderstandings (think: is he only using me to distract Da Ge from the fact that he’s a spy or does he secretly like me even just a little bit; WHICH I KNOW SOUNDS REALLY CLICHE BUT TRUST ME).

8.5/10 would recommend. Like we’re only 12 episodes in, and I let out an audible noise of disappointment last night when I realised there weren’t more episodes out, and had to look for something else to fill the void in my trash-trope-loving heart, which leads us to...

#2 哦！我的皇帝陛下 Oh! My Emperor

“Luo Fei Fei, a girl from the 21st century, was transported to a mysterious world of the past - Huang Dao Guo. In the nation of Huang Dao, its leadership is rotated among the 12 constellation leaders every thousand years. There, Fei Fei meets the current emperor of the nation, Bei Tang Yi, who is also the leader of the Capricorn constellation.” - MDL summary

This one has a more sci-fi/magic feel to the show. Everyone in the verse is assigned a constellation based on their birth dates, and some of them have special powers? Again, this is less of a serious periodic cdrama, and more of a cracky time travel webdrama. Like the previous rec, this one is also really comedic, and filled with moments that make you crack up.

Fei Fei (played by Zhao Lusi who also plays a supporting role in Cinderella Chef) does such a good job of making us laugh? Also, she’s got that face that just makes you feel for her when she’s in a bind? I WANT TO ADOPT HER AND PROTECT HER FROM EVERYTHING. Also while I know both main leads are probably going to end up together, I want to see the emperor clumsily court Fei Fei, and I want the (possibly evil) imperial uncle to do his best to win Fei Fei away from the emperor’s side, AND I WANT TO SIT IN SUSPENSE NOT KNOWING WHO SHE WILL CHOOSE.

(Bonus: I think the 男二 (possibly evil imperial uncle) in this one looks a lot like Wallace Huo??????? Someone watch this and tell me I’m not the only one who thinks so???????)

I mostly watched this one because I ran out of CC episodes to watch, but whereas the animation in this is Real Trash, the whole idea behind this universe has potential, and I’m keen to see how this plays out, 7/10 would rec because I want all y’all to come watch my tiny emperor son slowly figure feelings out and sigh with me.
