Hiiii Eri! Quickly dropping off to tell you that I love how you NSR-ify characters who are from different series! (Do you have any tips? Or designs you’re proud of?)

I would say the designs I am most proud of, or like the ones I like to look at the most, would be Miwa, Gayatri, Pav, Peni, and Jade!
I like those designs the most because, to me, they seem to fit the vibe of NSR the most. Well, maybe Miwa and Jade could use more tweaks to make them even more NSR-like but I like the designs I came up with for them despite that!
As for tips? Hmmm... I would say the first thing you might want to do is get the "style" of the game down. You know, the big hands and feet (with some exceptions like with Eve's body) as well as making sure to have good color combinations.
Though you can always have your own style and don't HAVE to copy the game's style at all! It does help make a character look like an NSR character if you copy the body type, kinda like a cheat or something (but I've seen plenty of non NSR styles out there and can still tell who the character is so like I said, that's not entirely something you have to do to NSR-ify a character).
I'll say, to me, the most important thing for NSR-ifying a character is the colors! You can have a totally different style, but it's the colors that really help sell that the character is an NSR character (at least that is how I feel about it).
It's hard to give tips on how to color a character other than to say study some color theory. I tend to do a majority warm or cool color and then have an accent of the opposite (so majority warm color and then an accent of a cool color).
I also tend to try and keep things down to 3 colors for a body/character unless I am doing something extra or an exception.
Eyes, skin, and hair. Those are the three main things I work with for a base and then add onto the design depending on what I am doing.
Peni has blue hair, red skin, and yellow eyes. That is kits base. I then added the little extra flairs such as the yellow skin condition and the light blue hair highlights. But my main focus was keeping the base hair, eyes, and skin cohesive before adding more onto the character.
Same for Miwa. She has blue hair, purpley-grey eyes, and beige-grey skin. And usually you would have a lot more saturated colors for an NSR character, but Miwa is an exception with more muted tones. Her hair and eyes are also given a special treatment with misty hair and shaped eyes like Mayday.
Then you have Gayatri who has purple skin, blue hair, and then multicolored eyes with a special white pupil. She has a basic design but her eyes are her gimmick.
And honestly that is probably the main thing I would suggest you do. Keep things simple and don't put too many ideas/themes into one character design.
Imagine if Eve had her skin condition, as well as an eye shape, and even a special hair or added elemental components on top of her mind theme and extra limbs gimmick. That would be WAY too much for a single character (at least in my opinion).
Mama is a super simple character. She really only has skin and eyes to worry about since she doesn't have any real "hair" (depending on how you see her head tail thingy). However, she has a whole tree/rose bush gimmick that makes up for that (as well as the heart motif on her head and dual toned eyes).
So when I personally make a character (either NSR-ifying one or making an OC), I look at the designs that the game has done and pick a few to possibly use for a design without picking too many.
If a character has a very unique trait (like Hobie's skin condition) then I tend to only give them that one trait only.
If a character has multiple kinda unique traits (like Miwa's hair and eyes, or Yinu's eyes and flower hair) then I try to make one trait more "important" or like visible than the other.
You can also have a character with no real unique traits at all, or at least a very minor unique trait (like Bunny in general or Gaya's eyes), which will allow you to over complicate the character design since there is nothing else you really have to worry about (like Bunny's design gets her uniqueness from her style and fashion, not from her natural body's traits which there isn't anything like elemental or a skin condition or anything like that).
You can also make it so that the character's unique trait makes them look less "unique" in a stereotypical sense. Noir and Mia have conditions which makes them unique by getting rid of the color aspect of the NSR world (Noir being greytones and Mia having pink eyes, hair, and skin that she needs to change herself with dye and contact lenses).
I would say find general design elements you like from NSR (eye shape, eye color, skin color, skin conditions, elemental theme, hair color, hair shape, etc.) and only choose one or two things when you want to NSR-ify a character or make an OC.
Hope that makes sense! You can always just ignore this though and just choose to make a character with a ton of these elemental designs that NSR has given!
Just look at my OC Ilma! She has special eye shapes (crystal) as well as coloring (based on her emotion). She has a split elemental hair type (space/fire and feathers). As well as a special mouth and hands (beak and claws).
Very much she has a lot going on for her, but I don't have a LOT of characters with this kind of over complex design. Which is why I am able to have a character like her in my opinion. I feel like if I made EVERY single NSR OC or NSR-ified character super over complicated, then the whole cast becomes disjointed but also they feel less like NSR characters.
So yea, you can even make your own design type to add into the little list I already gave (such as Ilma having a beak, you can make it so that lip types are a thing that can change or even something like teeth type. It doesn't have to be just things with eye colors and shapes or hair or skin).
But I would say, for starting off, try to replicate the NSR style if you want, but at the very least try following some design elements from NSR's character designs with your own twist! Keep the super unique design elements with more simple overall design, while the more common design elements can be combined together or given to an over complicated character design!

Had a weird Hollow Knight-related dream a couple days ago, so I decided to draw a major scene I remembered from it dgsgshf

#hollow knight#little ghost#hk ghost#the knight#hk hornet#hornet#alright. as of writing these tags it's been a week since the original dream so! let's see what i remember dgsgsgf#i was playing a game. which was a sequel to hollow knight ((Not silksong though))#there was some new sort of divine infection in hallownest and hornet had asked ghost to investigate it. they ended the last one after all!#the red glowy spike gate thingy is what you jumped into to enter the 'infected' areas#though it actually led directly to a hub world type of place. which was kinda like an expanded base for the grimm troupe?#more like an entire lair instead of a camp. also some greek gods were there for some reason lmao. they had their own special rooms too#so sidenote but- new headcanon that there are grimm troupe members named ares athena artemis &... venus lmao. not aphrodite for some reason#also monomon was there?? i think??? except she was cooking????? she had a sidequest to deliver something to someone though i dunno hdgfhdgh#i remember going back to the grimm troupe lair a couple times throughout my 'playthrough'#anyway. the 'infection' this time around was more of a glitchy physical corruption thing? rather than a mind corruption.#though there were still aggressive enemies to fight. but i remember getting a map from cornifer early on and he was. probably infected#i think part of his body was covered in electricity or something? so he wasn't fully visible? but he was still acting normally#there was also a moth who was the seer but then later wasn't the seer (but was still the same moth) dghgdhf. i delivered stuff to her#that glowing white wall thing in the drawing was like a one-way gate. you could only cross it from the other side and ghost came from there#i guess things looped back up somehow i dunno ghdgfhgf#anyway. ghost's red eyes. those are significant! those happened while i was walking through a corridor. it had pools of shallow water#(shallow enough to just walk through) and also creatures that were lightseeds but red.the implication was that they were full of Blood lmao#and as i went along killing them--as one does--as i walked through the hall. they started turning the water red too#there was also narration about this as it was happening ashdgsf. specifically the narrator said the water turned red before it actually did#ghost's eyes slowly turned red too. but aside from that they were fine! since. they're the player character and the player is perfectly fin#BUT. when they encountered hornet again. she thought they were infected. and that she lost the only family she had left </3#she didn't attack though. instead she just jumped into the red spike gate without a word. decided to try to fix everything herself#but eventually you'd encounter her again down below and she'd fight you. didn't actually get to that in the dream though#aand i'm out of tags </3 i wanted to talk about what i'd do to make this make more sense as an au or something now that i'm awake but. :c

since we're all having fun talking about theories and headcanons before the game drops. one thing that i do want for missing link, that is mostly wishful thinking on my part, is a reveal for kairi being a descendant of the player
this is based on their parallels of being shooting stars later found washed up on a beach from the new missing link trailer, plus that one moment from KH1 where kairi's grandma tells her about the age of the fairytales and nothing else lmfao
and i want that so badly because. it would be so fucking ironic and poetic to have kairi be a direct descendant of the one person that raised and cared so much for xehanort. the player, whose memories of ephemer and skuld and chirithy and everyone else influenced xehanort into starting his whole ass spiral and descent into darkness
only for her (and sora) to be the ones to get xehanort to stop in the end. ending a cycle of sorts. for her to be haunted by the memory of xehanort, the same way xehanort was "haunted" by the memory of the player's past life
PLUS. i want it to SPECIFICALLY recontextualize kairi's inheritance of the keyblade from BBS. because kairi's reason to wield a keyblade being nothing more than an "accident" feels like such a disservice to her AND aqua??
if they could recontextualize xehanort into whole new depths in dark road, i dont see why they couldn't reframe that moment as kairi reclaiming a dormant power, her own heritage that her bloodline forgot for centuries, since knowledge about keyblades and wielders began to fade out over time to the point where people who KNEW about them thought they were evil. makes sense that as the age of fairytales is left FORGOTTEN, no one can remember how to summon a keyblade, let alone the knowledge to create one from someone's heart. but having a strong heart (one of the requisites for bequeathing ceremonies) and being in direct contact with a keyblade, could just. help jog the memory a bit
and show that yeah. kairi deserves to wield a keyblade because she has a strong heart, and because this was her heritage that was taken away from her when the worlds began to drift away from each other and so on. not because of an accident
everytime chance, fate and destiny are brought up in the saga to explain why something. happened the way it did. it carries so much weight and so many events that led to That Point. but kairi's inheritance as of right now was just. yeah, an accident. no ceremony at all AND I JUST THINK SHE DESERVES RLLY COOL THINGS OKAY

Was finally back at the bar last Saturday after three weeks of being sick
#it was karaoke night!! but i still had a sore throat and came kinda late so i decided not to sing this time#it was so fun tho and i got tipped €60 even tho my shift was only 6 hours and it wasn't really crowded#it was so sweet how everyone was happy to see me again since i had to skip halloween and my two previous shifts 😭😭😭#my boss said 'heyy melissa high five great to see you' and complimented my shirt and his wife was like 'risen from the dead! welcome back'#and the girl i hadn't worked with before but who i've seen at meetings and concerts immediately hugged me and was so nice to me#i wondered why she sang along so enthusiastically to 'männer sind schweine' by die ärzte until i found out her husband suddenly left her#with three little kids!! 🙄 one of them has cancer and now she suddenly has to find an affordable apartment for the four of them#this is stressing me out so much how fucking dare he. men. our boss posted about it on facebook asking for help which is really kind of him#after we closed when the security guard jokingly suggested a new guy for her she said she's becoming a lesbian so welcome to the club ig#anyway don't we love it when guys suddenly dump you out of nowhere as soon as things start to get a lil rough. viva la lesbianism for real#my face#the bartender chronicles

ive been here an hour and im already so bored
#within five minutes of me walking in the door my mom was asking me to do chores#apparently there was still cat fur existing on the couch after i lint rolled it when i left#so she just refused to use the couch until i came back and then had me fix it??#ive been gone for over a month wtf#also shes working on some project so after talking to me for like two minutes she went back to her thing and im just kinda hanging around#she brought the cat indoors finally which is good#and now the cat lives in my old room#so ive been hanging out with an old old kitty#also i was gonna hang out with friends at some point but the one is sick so idk if thats still happening

Yeah idk I guess I’m just gonna go back to just reblogging things idk. Not really too in the UTMV fandom anymore and I still can’t get many interactions.
#I still love Error and Fresh don’t get me wrong but like. that’s really all I care about now + I’m focused on other fandoms now#like Sparklecare and Pizza Tower#I tried the best I could here to get interactions#but people barely reblogged my art or sent asks/practiced reblog karma or anything#and not only that is kinda demotivating but the fact that the interactions basically came to a screeching halt bc one mutual had to leave#like. it was nice when I got interactions. but I’m kinda disappointed to see how they suddenly stopped because one person left it’s like. ok#and I don’t really know how or even if I can even bring them back. because I try to go out of my way to send asks n stuff#but like. I think a 10yo just got attached to me in genshin and if this keeps up its gonna make me not wanna play cuz I don't wanna come off as mean if I have to tell her to give me some space, but I wanna play in peace ya know?
#she came into my world i think saturday night or sunday morning. thats how long i played. and chatted for a minute then left#then the second i logged on this morning she immediately hopped in and started calling me Ed#and she was asking questions and im polite so i answered and she was like you can ask me questions#and since she asked how old i was i asked back snd she was all uh um well im 10#and thats fine to me cuz im not gonna be a weirdo anyway#but then she asked if i had a wife and i said no im not interested in girls so thats probably when she was sure i was a safe adult#and someone else joined and she dm'ed me that she didnt like him and right after he left so did she#and when i opened my world back up later she immediately popped in again#and wanted me to go to whatever a playstation party is while i was doing a quest and i had to politely tell her no twice#and then it segwayed into material hunting with her so i could still do something productive in game at least#but at one point she called me her bff and started talking about how she just got a phone#and im worried she may end up asking for my number or something. like hell nah#like. im all for being friendly and playing a game together and casual chatting. again. i have no intention of EVER being a weirdo#but shes coming off as immediately REALLY attached and i dont need to be going through shit like that again#ive had people get REALLY attached to me in some games previously and not leave me alone while im trying to play#and then they blow up at me when i ask for some space. so i dont wanna deal with that again#especially from a 10yo. i really dont wanna upset anyone by rejecting them or asking for space#but sometimes its too much and i just wanna do what i want in the game#and i kinda really dont wanna have a 10yo tailing me the whole time i wanna play#especially cuz shes 10 ya know? friends are cool but im a little too old to be a bff to her imo#i think i'll just try keeping my world closed when i log off so i wont log on and she immediately pop in first thing#i dont wanna block her off completely cuz i dont mind if she comes by every once in a while. just not all the time ya know?#personal

somewhat yeah. i wouldnt consider myself like overemotional but i can get caught up in emotions sometimes (lesson learned i could talk about my emotions and how they work and why they do shit forever apparently. i rewrote this little parenthesis part like 4 times now)
i tend to like go from thing to thing really fast... like one thing could piss me off and then ill just. lose that immediately. also alter switches can changes things up too. like we woke up so tired and were mad about it so yesod was fronting and then boom agent 3 fronts and were. just fine lmao
(i mean thats normal for a lot of systems but i still find it like. kinda funny/absurd maybe? we have a designated mad guy which is funny enough but also when he leaves all our anger just dies. his pet. he takes it with it for the road)

honestly im not really sure. idk how to like. tell very well ig? id say i dont trust too easily though, especially if we havent known eachother for long.

#I HAD A GREAT NIGHT W MY SISTERS#if you have a chance to see big time rush on their forever tour 2022. DO it. tickets arent badly priced at all either.#i dont go to concerts very often but that was a great ass time. very warm and nostalgic and logan henderson can still marry me#tales from diana#theyre all still so good they look so good they sound so good. they havent aged badly at all!!! any of em!!!#i kinda love that there's never been any serious scandal or controversy w any of them. i always loved how quietly they pursued solo projects#but there's such a genuine love ppl have for big time rush. they're great performers and their group chemistry was and still is phenomenal#and the bops don't stop! don't even start me on how good their 2020s songs have been since they came back#what is it three singles??? they also played one tonight that theyre gonna drop officially on the 30th.#so stream honey when it comes out. and stream all their other songs dammit!! their comeback deserves to be as big as jobros' was#they just picked up like they never even left. their new songs are so seamlessly them. even while it has been like 10 years. it doesnt feel#wrong or weird or inappropriate in any way. it doesnt feel tryhard or edgy in terms of adapting to a new much older audience (that grew up#with them of course). it's so natural. if you put em in a playlist w all their old songs it's hardly noticeable.#i LOVE them. i loved them tonight i had a great time.#we somewhat joked about buying last minute tickets to see them in boston where they're playing tomorrow. but you know what#we're going out w my parents for their STUPID 30th anniversary (yawn)#when they came on to do their encore. they did the theme song of course and then when they transitioned to boyfriend#i forget which one asked. i think it was either james or logan. probably james#just said: 'before we play this last song...................... anybody here lookin for a boyfriend?'#me sitting next to the women my brothers are dating/engaged to and hearing them scream 'YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'#that was funny

to recap my day
- a server accused me of stealing 35 cents off her table and went to the MANAGER about it AFTER i handed it directly to her
- 2nd job, my section was literally empty for over an hour and another server got sat 3 times so i asked her if i could have one of the tables and she said yes. manager got MAD at us about this because apparently we’re not supposed to pick up each others tables. i said ok i havent been sat in over an hour and T got 3 tables in the meantime so i picked one up. die.
- this stupid fucking bedframe doesnt have instructions in the box so i spent 15 minutes on google trying to find the instructions only to find out this box also doesnt have the screws in it. so im sleeping on the mattress on the floor AGAIN tonight
#literally going to kms at this rate#am i just cranky or is this like. insane. i am so fucking mad rn#to elaborate on the first one: i cleaned the servers table off and she came by and got her cash tip which was well over 20 dollars#(big table)#but she left the change so i just kinda threw it in my pocket while i was cleaning and fully intended to give it to her if she asked#she came back and asked for it so i handed it to her#she THEN complained to the manager that i was stealing her change. even though i LITERALLY gave it to her BEFORE she complained#+ i didnt have time to go to the house between shifts. so i hung out in the sonic parking lot for 20 minutes#++ at the 2nd job they told me to clean out salad bar and then like got mad when i didnt know how to do that#because literally guess what. this is like my 2nd shift as a server. can yall die forreal#my fucking god i hate these bitches#shouts#rant in tags#rant in post as well ig
