Hello Vita!! I absolutely loved your headcanons with a partner from a different culture.
Being Spanish (Andalusian specifically, which is a exaggerated and stereotyped version of Spanish, hahaha), I think you nailed it with a Spanish and a Mexican as a couple. The accents are... aaaaaaaaah I love them, I don't know if you like the Spanish accent, but I really like Latin accents (by the way, did you know that the actor for Sanji is from the Canary Islands and in the Spanish dub he dubbed himself with a Canary Islands accent? so cute...).
And that idea of big families, that feeling of knowing the ingredients in a meal and thinking we control what we're going to eat but then... it's SUPER SPICY aaaaaaah!!!! water!!!!!, hahaha you made me laugh with that.
By the way, the fact of asking if we're pregnant I think is international! You also made me laugh with that!
I totally buy into the idea that Mihawk has a Spanish mom and a Romanian dad. Honestly, when I watched the live action without any prior knowledge of One Piece, I was blown away seeing that handsome character with that Spanish music in the background! The music fits so well with his aesthetics... and the cross on his chest... being Spanish, you may or may not be religious, but we can't deny that crosses are part of our culture.
By the way, I went to a show in France where a Frenchman fell in love with an Andalusian woman in the XVII century (a beautiful story), and the soundtrack was this. Specifically, starting from the minute I've shared with you, that instrumental part totally gives me the vibes of Ghost Rose and Mihawk, I hope you like it and it inspires you to write more about them!
Greetings from Sevilla! :D
Tumblr media
Hello, Jin!! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with me 🥰
Yesss, the accents 😚 It's always so much fun to hear all different spanish and latam accents. Ohhh, Taz Skylar's voice was 🫠 I started watching OPLA first on english but I switched to latam spanish pretty soon. Iñaki was sooo cute and they let him talk in mexican (there was a Chapulin Colorado reference!!!) and then ch 5 came and Sanji spoke... My god, his voice is so sexy... It's so rare to have this variety of accents in latam translations, they didn't even gave colombian accents to Encanto 🥺
Big families, salsas not-spicy (lie, they are), medium spicy and totally spicy, a wall full of crosses... That's some of the mexican package 😂 Pro tip: just water don't make the trick, drink milk to get rid of the spicyness in your mouth sooner. Horchata water do it too, there's a reason that's the beverage they would have by default at any restaurant, even street food.
I've been munching for the longest time about Mihawk's heritage with all the little information we have about him and the vibes he gives. If not for the crosses, including Yoru's shape, he would have been more musketeer alike, but the composers definetely felt the spanish vibe too and chose flamenco as his theme because of its intensity and passion. Their video here.
Ohh, I need to see that show and music! But the link is not connecting, like if it's broken or something 😢 Youtube links exclusively are giving me trouble today, share me the title of the play and I will watch it full!!!
I don't know if you were aware (I was told last year) but most of the spanish culture and people that migrated to latam during the colony centuries came from Andalusia! We were fed the most exaggerated and stereotyped version of Spain🤭 and don't make me start with all the MENA influences 🥰

saw wish just now!! i can confirm that youtube absolutely compressed the hell out of the effects in the trailer and it visually looked a million times better irl lol. still not as beautiful and unique as i expected it to look, but i love asha's gorgeous textured braids and i am glad that disney is trying new things with their art and animation. i hope this isn't the first and last movie they do this with, because i feel like it really could look amazing if it had been more polished.
unfortunately i also just... didn't enjoy wish anywhere near as much as i expected to. i didn't really like most of the songs, and while i was annoyed to see people judging asha and calling her a generic quirky girl before the movie even came out, i now have to admit that i don't find her very unique or interesting either :( same goes for rosas itself, it didn't feel like there was anything special about the setting. magnifico was the most fun part of this movie to me and that's not something i'd normally say--usually in disney movies i do love a good villain but i prefer to talk about the heroes and their journeys. but magnifico was a fun departure from the "no villain" trend we're currently on and the "every villain is a twist villain" trend we had before that. he only seemed like a good guy for about 10 minutes and was very obviously ruthlessly evil the rest of the time. i wish the queen had stayed evil too tbh, and i guess if i had listened to the soundtrack before watching the movie i would've known she wouldn't, but oh well. i just think a true villain couple would've been more fun than her turning on him once he went too far.
anyway uh... this was supposed to just be a few sentences and not a full review lol. so i guess i'll just say that it takes very little to make me tear up during a really good animated movie but wish barely made me feel anything and i was expecting a lot more out of it. even after seeing it get mixed reviews, i was still really hoping to love it because i've seen some of my favorite movies get trashed by critics while movies i either hated or thought were very mid were treated like the greatest thing ever. but in this case i find myself agreeing that it wasn't all that special. i also think that it was very obviously trying to utilize the nostalgia of longtime disney fans to get us to love it, with things like asha wearing a cape that made her resemble the fairy godmother, a boy named peter dressed in all green at the end wishing to invent a flying machine, and one of the wishes showing a girl sewing aurora's dress... but i can honestly say that the "once upon a studio" short felt to me like a more genuine, heartfelt, and emotional celebration of disney's history than wish did. wish kind of just made me wish i was watching encanto or elemental again.
if you're reading this and you love wish then don't let me stop you!! this is just what i'm feeling right now after getting out of the theater. i was very excited for this movie and wanted to love it so much more than i did, but in the end i guess it just wasn't for me.

Ranking the SADDEST moments from Disney and Pixar movies that broke me
Before we begin may I just say that I had to redo this entire chart because I forgot Tumblr only lets me post 10 pictures so at first this chart had 21 SPOTS and I already wrote it up until like the eleventh when I realized I had to redo it.
GENERAL WARNING: This is sad, people. Like, really sad. The kind of sad that can make you cry, but also the kind that sinks in you for the rest of the day and doesn't leave until the next morning. This is just plain angst, death scenes, break up scenes, hurt scenes, you know the deal. If you aren't looking to be depressed by scenes from children's movies, please scroll away. If you are, welcome, and here's a tissue. You're gonna need it bud.
These are gonna be ranked from the least sad/tolerable to sobbing-on-the-floor kind of deal. Again, I'm sorry, but you know that I had to mix in some good ol' angst in people's dashboards. Keep in mind, this may not be too sad for u or u might feel that I missed some stuff, but these are just scenes that I considered sad.
10. Moana's grandma dying in "Moana"
Tumblr media
Coming in on the last spot is the death scene of Moana's grandmother. I genuinely loved her character so much and I was so heartbroken and surprised when she suddenly died. It's ranked on the last spot because she later had an impact on the movie, so it felt like she was still there, which is really heart-warming and how actual death should be seen as.
9. The dad dinosaur dying in "The Good Dinosaur"
Tumblr media
I don't know how many of you watched this movie (but you should, it's really cute!), but I think that a death scene of such an important character not even twenty minutes into the movie should be illegal. And they even had a fight before he died, so his son never got the chance to apologise! It's on this list not because it was so emotional, just because I hate when a family member who's very important dies.
8. Ian not getting to see his dad in "Onward"
Tumblr media
Okay, I know this is not a death scene, however it still had a huge emotional impact on me. This whole movie resolves around the fact that Ian wants to see his dad, even just for a minute, so when he doesn't at the end, it's really devastating. The gesture he did for his brother is incredible, and I understand why he did it, I just wish that after all the trouble he went thru he could finally see him.
7. Ray's death in "Princess and The Frog"
Tumblr media
Ray is one of the funniest characters in the entire movie, and this was one of the saddest death scenes Disney ever had.
Was he too good to die? Yes.
Was this the saddest part of this movie? Also Yes.
Did Disney had to do this? No.
It's really not fair, poor Ray. At least he got to be with his Evangeline.
6. Bing Bong Perishing in "Inside Out"
Tumblr media
Bing Bong didn't actually die, however, he just kind of perished. I have to admit, he was kind of annoying to me when I first saw him on the screen, but I immediately regretted that thought when this scene happened. I love how he cared so much about Riley and Joy that he sacrificed himself for them, that was really cute. "Inside Out" all together was a really emotional movie, but I remember that the line "Go! Go, save Riley!" had me tearing up.
5. Bambi's mom dying in "Bambi"
Tumblr media
Wow, my fellow angst lovers (I mean.. I'm assuming you like angst since you're already this far.. If you don't, than wow, you must be really curious!), we already made it to top five! The death of Bambi's mom honestly deserves a place on any chart of sad scenes, because some people even consider it the saddest. This scene is so sudden and so genuine that I still cry every time I see it, which isn't every often because I haven't watched "Bambi" in forever. Again, death of an important family member getting to me isn't anything new. But at least that made him closer to his dad!
4. The flashback scene from "Encanto"
Tumblr media
Who would have thought that one of the saddest scenes from Disney and Pixar I would ever watch is from Disney's most recent movie: The Encanto. The scene where they showed how Abuela fell in love with Pedro was incredibly cute and heart-warming, which made his death even more tragic. There are three things that broke me about this scene:
1. The way he kissed all of his babies before trying to calm down the horse riders, before his death
2. Abuela's cry, that's so fucking raw and beautiful and horrifying and heart-wrenching in the same time that it did make me cry when I watched this two weeks ago. I think that Abuela crying here is one of the best animated cries ever
3. The entire song "Dos Oruguitas". SO beautiful and SO sad
wow my man Pedro didn't even say a word and I literately cried over him
3. Tadashi dying in "Big Hero 6"
Tumblr media
(sorry, I couldn't find a better pic)
listen.
Listen
LISTEN HERE-
"Big Hero 6" came out in 2014 and I'M STILL MAD ABOUT THIS DEATH SCENE 7 YEARS LATER
Tadashi is one of the best (*ehm* and the hottest *ehm*) animated characters of all time and he didn't deserve what Disney gave him
NOT EVEN 20 MINUTES INTO THE MOVIE
There was a period of time I refused to rewatch Big Hero 6 just and only because I didn't wanna se Tadashi dying again. I seriously think that his death was stupid and unnecessary, plus it somehow felt rushed, and without showing his helpful side but replacing it with the "somebody has to help" BS.
Welp, I guess that fanfics are the only way any of us are ever going to emotionally recover from this *aggressively starts writing fanfics where he didn't die, but just got hurt*
2. Ellie dying in "Up"
Tumblr media
Coming in at the second place, probably the saddest thing that has ever happened in the first 12 minutes of any movie ever. This love story and the song "Married Life" are already good enough reasons to love this movie. Even tho many people love rewatching "Up" many times, I have actually seen this movie only once. It was a long time ago, but I remember that I was like sad or something, so I decided to watch it because it seemed like a movie that would cheer me up. HUGE mistake. I cried so hard that I almost threw up, so yeah. Definitely deserves a place this high on this chart.
1. Literately the whole movie "Coco"
Tumblr media
This is the saddest movie I have ever watched, and in my opinion, the saddest movie Disney and Pixar ever made. This is the only movie I ever watched in a cinema that I seriously considered walking out of, just because I couldn't bear it. You're probably thinking that I'm overreacting a bit, but I lost my grandpa (who meant the world to me) not even two weeks before seeing this film, so it hit me like a bus. After it, I cried for weeks on end because it still bothered me, and to this day I haven't rewatched it (like I do with the rest of Disney movies) and I probably won't. It did have it's humour and I love "Un Poco Loco", but there isn't a sum of money you could pay me to rewatch this movie.
--
That would be all for this ranking! Hope you went thru it without too many used tissues. Tell me in the comments which Disney/Pixar movies scenes are the saddest to you!
The next ranking will be much happier than this one, so stay tuned and if you want me to rate something requests are open!

LMAOOO Did you know that apparently Asstruck made a tweet bashing Encanto for having, en quote, “Weak base mythology. Weak situations. Weak stakes. Weak people because too many, so no time to develop them well… Weak songs, nothing left in mind…” and so much more utter RIDICULOUSNESS??? Bruh this dude is straight up delusional I sweeeaaarrr
I've heard. And what's funny is that he's describing more of his own show than Encanto. Cause I watched Encanto. It doesn't have those issues. It was amazing. I cried. ML has not brought me to tears but Encanto has.
But if we want to be salty first thing in the morning...
- Weak based mythology? Yeah, no, its simple in set up. Through an act of love and sacrifice, the miracle came giving a magical house, a protective barrier, and offers gifts to descendants. ML's own mythology and lore I couldn't entirely explain as not everything is established and they will make changes out of the blue (like adults naturally more powerful, but what defines an adult? The age? One's mentality? How mature they are?)
- Weak situations. Yeah, its a low stake film, but hey, they covered family drama and issues better than ML. In short of 2 hours, they have addressed issues in this family and resolved things. ML is still 4 seasons in and nothing has changed in the Agreste family.
- Weak stakes. Yes, Encanto is a low stake film. But guess what? Not everything needs to be high stakes to be enjoyable. And honestly, I felt more for Encanto's low stakes than ML's high stakes. Largely because the issue was brought up, there was actual loss, and there was no magical cure that fixed everything in the end. The big issue with ML's high stakes is that there's never no real loss. Paris is fine. Damage all erased.
- Too many people. That's really rich coming from him, as this show will bring in new characters, then forget said characters, and only bring them back when needed. Like, you could really honestly wonder if you needed these characters. Should Lila really exist if Chloe is going to stay a bully and they're going to forget her existence? Did we really need Zoe's existence? If they allowed Nino to be his own character, Luka could've been cut and Nino could've easily filled that role. And did we really need a whole Zodiac of kwamis? In Encanto, yes, there's a lot of people, but they felt like a family, and you got a quick sense of who each of them were. Yes, you may not entirely be able to say what all the relationships are, but I didn't feel overwhelmed by the number of characters, unlike ML.
- Weak songs. I'm sorry, how many musicals has ML done? That one very forgettable Christmas special? Yeah, no, you can't boast and say that you have the better music. I've been bopping to Encanto's music while at work. It's amazing.
Also, Encanto does a far better job at representing the culture of where it's set at than ML ever has. I remember when the trailer released someone from Colombia made a whole post listing all the details of what was what, and what was seen in Columbia. ML hasn't even proper represented it's own culture, much less others. Only ONCE do we see characters greet each other by kissing each other's cheek which realistically should be more common. Also they have actual French heroes that have used miraculouses, yet when they dabble in miraculous history, they never talk about those heroes. You got Jeanne d'Arc as one. Why not ever bring her up? Give kids of the show someone to look up later.
Yeah, Encanto is vastly superior to ML. And it's a sole film.
Personally, I think Thomas is just salty whenever something of higher quality comes out and does certain thing better than him. So he has to make a post about how "terrible" it is to validate himself.
At least, that's what I gather from what I've seen so far. I know he also trashed Wonderwoman but I hear that was really good. Planning on watching it soon.

just rewatched raya for the first time in a couple months and I thought I'd give some random thoughts lol
- I will literally never watch the English dub again because I loved the bahasa Indonesia one so so so much. the voices were perfect and it filled a hole in my heart istg
- the plot feels really fragmented and I wonder if it has to do with how the work was literally fragmented with each person off in their home for the second half of production
- I was initially mad about having SEAsia blended together, however now I think that this is a good first step. having a movie come out that was just one of us probably would have caused some bitterness and I'm somewhat glad we can all just share this piece of representation until we all get up there and make our own :)
- the trust message feels a bit too nuanced/confusing for a kid's movie tbh. it felt like it always framed sisu as correct for randomly trusting ppl and raya as having trust issues when... yeah??? ofc she has trust issues? both of them had flaws in their outlook but it felt like raya was constantly criticized for it
- I didn't know that there were deleted scenes and other extras and they were so fun!! I loved seeing what aspects of the movie were from what culture :) seeing it say that pencak silat was the martial art that raya's was based on made me so happy!
- one day I want to dress up as raya bc istg that's what I look like :o I love the character design in this movie. almost cried the first time I watxhed bc omg that's me. wtf. that's my eyes and nose and hair??? I am so attached because of this??? and chief Benja looks just like my papah so it's just T-T yeah...
- raya barely did anything wrong. maybe im saying this bc I also have issues with needing to control things. in fact... probably... but still lmao imo she wasn't at fault for sisu's death bc namaari was about to pull the trigger.
- tuktuk being a pill bear is such a cute concept and I love it. he's just so cute. me and both of my sister's have plushies of him :)
- I'm still sad we didn't get fun music tbh. esp after watching encanto it feels like a lost opportunity even tho ik the tone of this movie was a lot darker. speaking of which, I love the cinematography but I kind of wish there were more bright colors?? idk, again, I don't know if it would match the vibe lol I wonder if we'll get a bright and happy movie one day. that would be fun. our cultures are so bright and beautiful and despite colonization and violence we have so much happiness to share
- not to beat a dead horse, but yea the jokes... aren't great. not a fan of them bc they rlly take me out of the immersion. why couldn't we just get funny jokes that aren't based on being #relatable. not everything needs to work for western ppl. we could have had inside jokes only we got.
- sisu's design also isn't my favorite but honestly I don't like how everyone acted about it. it really wasn't as terrible as ppl made it out to be and it's still clearly a dragon with SEAsian roots. that's not a European dragon that breathes fire
- the food makes me so happy :) I was eating longon and lychee and actually shrieked when I saw it on screen and I had Tom yum for dinner and that's so fun bc I was thinking about how much I wanted to try their soup and apparently that's what it's based on!!!
- I wish they had actually used a mix of different languages instead of making things up. like they could have had a word from each country or smthn instead of making up a random word. would have felt way more connected.
- the lack of SEAsian VAs makes me sad. partially why I love the Indonesian version so much is it alleviates some of that discomfort. I don't think the performances were bad (for the most part. I'm looking at you random really deep voiced girl from the market) but it just makes me so so sad. we had a thing for once and they just went. nah east Asians instead! like... why. it's not like we're not in the industry. ik Kelly Marie tran and awkwafina and Benedict Wong are popular but y'all rlly could've gotten a SEAsian for at least the side roles :(
- oh also the awkward way they say their names and made up words makes me so uncomfortable lmao. I think this every time I see a cartoon about a culture with another language but goddamn could you just give them an accent so the mixed in words from another language feel more cohesive? they managed to do this in encanto so goddamn have them roll some Rs sometimes lmao
- I love Boun and Tong and Toi and Benja and the ongis and it kind of makes me sad that there's only content for raya and namaari. sort of feels like yt queers just took the queer bits and decided that the rest of the cultural stuff wasn't as interesting.
- on the flip side some of the fanart is so fucking cool and I'm glad there's so much good stuff! and these characters are gay. so gay. they are just. so lesbians. the eye contact. the tension. the hand holding. the undercut and cat lady jokes (while western oriented) are yeah. theyre friends to enemies to lovers your honor. there's nothing else to be said
- the droon being an allegory for colonialism is something I just saw and that's rlly interesting. next time I watch I'll have to keep that in mind. would really change how I look at the movie I think. would add a layer of depth that could be interesting to think about.
in conclusion, I love this movie sm, it makes me cry every time, and I'm so fucking glad my little sisters have a south east Asian princess to look up to :)
edit: there have been many videos made recently about raya and in my watching of them, I noticed all of them said that the cast was almost fully east Asian including Kelly Marie Tran. a lot of issues that people have had are that she is east Asian and claiming the seasian princess but???? she is seasian?? I just checked and she's literally vietnamese?? I'm so confused why has everyone been acting like she was an east Asian coopting seasian roles?? help??

heyyy don’t worry, life gets busy! Hahahaha the whole world of anime bamboozles me anyway because there’s so much going on and so much content to keep up with!!
for seventeen would recommend: Rock with you & Crush from their latest album Attacca. GAM3 BO1 & Anyone from their album Your Choice. Left & Right and also Kidult from Heng:gareae.
for got7: just right (this one is olddd from their first album I think like 7 years ago sjsjs), not by the moon, you calling my name, poison, breath I’ll shut up now! All of them have solo songs too and they’re all honesty amazing in my very biased opinion <3 would recommend Slow Mo from Bambam’s last album, and literally everything Jay B and Yugyeom have released 💀 okay I’ll shut up now fr about them
i loved Coco!!! And yes I would consider those movies! I haven’t seen Encanto yet though. I am honestly struggling to remember the last non/animated movie I watched lmao I think it was Don’t Look Up on Netflix (something about the end of the world and how a meteor was gonna hit earth). Rn I’m watching a crime documentary on Netflix while I’ll finish today probably and I’m slowlyyyy watching Naruto and Hometown Cha Cha (romantic kdrama) so I kinda flip flop between them depending on how I’m feeling.
Nooo I totally get that!!! I like listening to podcasts or video essays when I’m doing other things or just put on a really familiar tv show I’ve watched before to have in the background so I’m not sitting in complete silence lool
Omg…relatable! Nowadays because of the pandemic, I really just work from home, read in my spare time, bake stuff and also rot away online 🤝
YOU KNOW I actually played genshin impact for a while on my phone in my downtime but I stopped playing because some of the challenges were too hard and my party was not strong enough skdbdjsjdw and honestly I just really enjoyed running around and unlocking the teleport waypoints and collecting fruit 💀💀💀 omg who does your party consist of? I usually kept Bennett (my beloved), Kaeya (also my beloved, my son), Lisa & Noelle because they were my strongest and I covered a good range of elements with them - Monbebe Valentine 💕
ohhhhh these r some lovely songs god damn! i really liked rock with you, anyone, not by the moon and you calling my name... straight up saved them ehehe
also i appreciate the passion for sharing your fav song! so thank u -w-
what crime documentary? :o i love that stuff
rotting away online is actually peak human experience akdhjskadhkj good for us (?) B)
omg starting genshin was so fun... the casual exploration was probably the most joyful thing ever ! and i can sorta relate to not having strong enough parties. my characters are just ok.. i don't care. they can get the job done and that's it and i'm happy with it askjdhaskjd
i don't really have a specific party anymore (mainly because i make very disfunctional parties with a bunch of characters who i want to get friendship levels up with)
buuut my 2 main damage dealers are kaeya and ningguan! i love them both to death, i've put the most effort into them, they're my pride and joy and i'm simping for them. hard.
then my best pyro support is xiangling (my baby daughter)
another great support but also a healer - bennet (my baby son)
epic anemo god - venti (absolute creature i adore him)
main geo support - albedo (stole all of my money i hate him)
so yeah i guess my "ideal" team would have kaeya, ningguan, venti and somebody else depending on the situation :p
(back in the days when i didn't spend much primogems my main team was kaeya, amber (replaced by xiangling once i got her), lisa and traveler (replaced by ningguan once i got into liyue lol))
