hate the ultimate guide. heres a few reasons why.
reused art: I understand how hard it is to make art, especially at that calliber of detail. I'm an artist, I get it. but the charm of the original ultimate guide was that we had these hand painted, unique pieces of art of these characters, it showed a little personality too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
How stale and lifeless the art is: This is a complaint that I've had with the current western artist for years, the art is just... boring. the colors are pretty, yeah, like wow hyperrealistic cats. cool. but what else? can we see their personalities? what's the book gonna be like? the old covers had that charm, but not these ones. at all. (also is that even... i could not tell that was runningnose and littlecloud. i mean. runningnose has water in his snout, thats not what cat snot looks like but go off. he just looks a little soggy ig, not in a perpetual state of sick.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lack of Personality: this is a different complaint I promise. I dont like how the art seems to take away the personality of every character so theyre staring stoicly at the camera. some of these characters arent all that stoic. I never liked the firestar art in the last hope because I deadass thought it was mapleshade until someone told me it was firestar. firestar isnt this scary, stalky cat in the shadows. not to normal people at least. if i can mistake your main character as one of the villains in your cover art that isnt fucking good. I don't want to see these cats staring bug eyed at the camera, I want to be able to tell what they're like JUST from a glance at the art. Who is that- harestar?? why doesnt he look nervous?? he looks almost noble here, which is the opposite of who he's supposed to be, he's a wuss and a loser and i love him for it. like girl that is NOT mudclaw thats some random cat i saw at the shelter once, WHERES HIS ANGER? WHERES HIS FUCKING RAGE??? RISE RISE RISE RISE RISE RI
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the Characters are hard to recognize, even with the title cards: Who are these cats. who. who the fuck are they. I can recognize a few cats, sure, but thats if I can pick out a defining trait. Squirrelflights tail, Scourges Collar, Ravenpaw's white chest, those are things that are explicitly told to us that these characters have, but everyone else??? WHO??? Like that was supposed to be leafstar?? HUH?? Wait that's supposed to be Oakheart? I cant even tell if hes red, its so YELLOW OUT I CANT FUCKING TEL WHO HE IS. Sagewhisker is described with yellow eyes, yet she has blue ones in the ultimate guide (i dont usually get pissy about eye color but not only are these cats supposed to be distinct from each other but i really like sagewhisker and i would die for her, yes i will gatekeep her from the artist fucking fight me), Bluestar is barely recognizable, i didnt know who half of these cats were before i read their nameplate. thats not a good thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Red mapleshade. Why she red. WHY SHE RED.
Tumblr media
Leafpool. I didn't even know that was you at first but man they did you dirty.
Tumblr media
sol. dude that is not sol no matter how much you stretch it- why is he a tabby?? hes supposed to be a tortie, why does he look like lionblaze?? and even then he doesnt look that lionlike, even though hollyleaf literally thought he was when she first saw him like what?? HUH???
Tumblr media
mothwing. why she anger. also why she not fluffy
Tumblr media
squirrelflight. i always hated her SE art but seeing the whole thing makes me angrier. like she isnt not accurate to canon or anything i just... hate it. i hate it withe very fibre of my being. ALSO WHERE IS HER PERSONALITY I WANT TO SEE HER BEING ENERGETIC NOT STARING 😐 AT THE CAMERA FUCKING HELL-
Tumblr media
yeah, so im not gonna buy this book. i dont even want to know how they wrorte any of the female characters to make them somehow evil or how they somehow make a completely irridemable male character a sweet uwu baby. and everyone has talked about the ableism to death so im not going to beat this clearly still living horse, im just gonna let you find it yourself.

I went back to reading my real book for adults so my warriors reread is on hold but I have a few things to say. So the early super editions (I reread bluestar yellowfang and crookedstar) are fucking awesome because I love how heavy-handed warriors in general is with foreshadowing but like in those books since they each tell a complete story (rather than being single installments in a series) they Love to hammer in The Ideas And The Themes. I don't even care that it isn't always subtle or tasteful because 1. it's funny and 2. the entire appeal of warriors to me at least is that it's greek tragedy bullshit at a fourth grade reading level like tell me why I was eight years old and reading about a mother blinding and then murdering her evil son. Yellowfang was always my favorite character as a kid and rereading the first arc I was like yeah I understand why. And then I reread her super edition and holy fuck I forgot how terrible things got for her. Made for a crazy warriors book though. There's the last chapter or so where brokenstar exiles her and she goes to thunderclan territory to die and then the book ends by retelling her first meeting with firepaw from her perspective. I was genuinely moved by him showing her mercy in that moment LOL and especially immediately after these passages about her passive suicidality, how she's lost the ability to even care enough to end things for herself and is just waiting for death... but yeah ending it with that meeting is nice you know she gets a chance to make things right. The ending of crookedstar's promise also really stuck with me because the more I think about it why was that just the end of evangelion for kids. I'm joking but also kind of not like it comes to a similar conclusion in a slightly different way because ok like crookedstar is at the point where he's lost almost everyone he loves either to mapleshade or terrible luck—most recently his mate willowbreeze, who has left him with one daughter. And even though crookedstar was himself rejected and abandoned by his mother as a kit, he refuses to get close to his daughter because horrible things happened to everyone he's ever gotten close to. And his brother oakheart tells him cut the bullshit you're not going to do to her what our mother did to you and crookedstar is like i can't because then she's going to be taken away from me in some horrible way and then they start battling it out warrior style in the middle of the camp and oakheart is like Well i'm your brother and i'm still here for you doesn't that mean anything. You and willowbreeze loved each other and she might be gone now but would you choose never to have loved her instead? To never have had that time with her, that experience that enriched your life? Would you erase every meaningful relationship you've ever had from your life just because it ended in pain? Are we not better for opening ourselves up to the possibility of love even though we know we might get hurt again? And crookedstar is like yeah you're right and it ends on a hopeful note of him choosing to build a relationship with his daughter (the irony here being that we know what ends up happening to silverstream LOL but also even as readers who know this would we tell crookedstar to stay away from her? Not me not after reading the ending of his book!) So it kind of is a similar message to evangelion if you think about it

Welcome back to Hypokits time!! Let’s get to the goods! Anonymous asked for FireBramble, @floofyboi57 asked for Bramble+Trans!Rowan, @the-cryptid-moth asked for Trans!FireDust, and @fernstarsblog asked for longhair/scot fold Misty+wirehair Trans!Green, longhair/Savannah NB!Tiger+Misty, and RavenSilver!
In the first AU, Rusty joins Thunderclan as a kit because his uncle Coldstep brought him and his brother Cloudy after their mother Ruby abandoned them. They were raised in the nursery alongside Ashkit and Fernkit, and Firepaw and Bramblepaw became close after he saved Swiftpaw from dying.
In the second AU, Bramblepaw goes to Shadowclan instead of Tawnypaw. He supports Rowanpaw’s Gender Choices, and the two save Stonefur.
In the third AU, Rusty joins Thunderclan because they support her Gender, and Dustpaw goes all Tsundere you fool you buffoon I don’t like you, now stop being so attractive!
In the Fourth AU, Mistyfoot and Greenflower just enjoy each other’s company, and like making flower crowns for each other.
In the fifth AU, Tigerkit is born just when Bluefur realizes she’s pregnant. One day, she catches Pinestar attacking his own kit, huddled behind the body of their mother, and a furious Bluestar accidentally kills Pinestar, on his last life. In a horrified panic, she snags Tigerkit and her own kits, and bolts for Riverclan. Tigerpaw grows up adoring Bluefur, Oakheart, and Crookedstar, and falls for Mistyfoot hard. He never becomes leader, deciding to be the most Supportive Warrior Ever. Mistystar finds the orphaned Weaselkit next to the savaged body of his mother; Tigerclaw finds a Thunderclan warrior (Probably Thistleclaw) attacking a group of kittypet kits, and they launch the warrior into a tree, scoop up the kits, and carry them all to their new home.
In the last AU, Ravenpaw isn’t related to Dustpaw; instead Coalpaw/Firepaw is Dustpaw’s sibling. Tigerclaw is actually decent, if a bit heavy-handed, and they have a decent relationship. Ravenpaw falls into the stream, and Silverpaw goes uwu a soft sensitive boy! And he’s single ohoho~ Crookedstar and Bluestar work out a treaty because they care and are Reasonable Adults, so Silverstream survives the birth, but can’t have any more kits.
Enjoy your characters!

If I had a dollar for every time I told someone that female leaders can have kits since it’s not forbidden it’s just rare for them to have them, I’ll be rich.
tbh I find it wild when people say "female leaders / deputies can't have children" as if female authority figures and leaders in history haven't been able to manage family and children at the same time
but not only that but it's one of the more obvious sexism problems in Warriors
I think of all known female leaders / deputies, only a small handful have ever had kits while in a position of power
which includes;
Wind Runner / Windstar [counting her under a technicality cause the Clans were just starting to form]
Leafstar
Squirrelflight [she had Spark, Alder, Juniper, and Dandelion as deputy]
and this doesn't count Bluestar, since Bluestar had given up her kits to Oakheart to become deputy [which it later turned out she didn't need to do cause Sunstar was already considering which is a whole different issue]
like there might be others that I'm not remembering
but I'm certain there's at least only 3
but yeah
let female leaders and deputies have kits
if they want them, o/c

It would have been so easy to just give Mistystar and Stonefur different prefixes in Bluestar's Prophesy............... like when they were kittens. Why didn't they do that
From an in-universe standpoint I guess Oakheart wanted to honour them names Bluefur gave them? But it wasn’t a smart move from him at all lol, they’re really lucky no one seemed to notice.
Like you say it would have been really easy for Bluefur to give them different names as kits and then maybe she and Oakheart could decide on new ones at the border together quickly as she’s handing them over?

I just read "(hand games on the playground court)" and the scene where Mistyfoot and Stonefur sneak the kids out and say it's an adventure reminds me of "Bluestar's Prophecy", which makes me wonder, how do you see that translating into a human AU? This one or in general, if it's different? Why did Bluestar give up her children? Is it still hidden from them that they were adopted? How did Mosskit die?
i think a bit of this has been explained...or at least stone references it in (bivalve).
bluefur's an unmarried woman in...urgh, i'd have to pull it out, but i want to say the 70s or 80s? so um...it's like. she can't. judgment. single mom of triplets is hard.
haven't decided exactly what to do. i might want. i might have. shoot. sorry.
okay okay so i might. not sure what's going on with mosskit. possible bluefur has them as a second child later? like w thrushpelt? i honestly have no idea what to do about mosskit. it is REALLY hard to deal with the high child mortality rates, lol. so yeah um. undecided. might do a lot of things, we'll see.
it's not hidden from them that they're adopted, but they don't know who their birth parents are (especially that oakheart is their birth father), or anything like that.
(honestly the fact that they know that they're adopted is an oversight in adoption bc i didn't research common/best practices in adoption. not sure when it went from "don't tell" to "open adoption story." easier to just...assume oak and grey tell them.)

warrior cats headcanons bc why not!
these are mostly design headcanons but ehhhhh whatever
1. crowfeather and jayfeather look extremely similar. i like to think that jayfeather got crofeather's lanky, skinny and tall body type. he looks more like a typical windclan cat than a thunderclan cat, and is definitely taller than his littermates (and even leafpool!) hollyleaf is definitely up there in height and got crowfeather's windclan genes too, but she passes more as a thunderclan cat than jayfeather. lionblaze on the other hand is big, bulky, stumpy, much like leafpool. i also like to think he looks a bit like his great grandfather jake
2. crowfeather carries a silver and gray/black feather and a jay's feather behind his ear, to honor feathertail and jayfeather. jayfeather does the same with a single crow's feather. idk i just like to think that crowfeather isn't ALL that much of an asshole and doesn't completely disown his and leafpool's kits
3. dovewing and ivypool both have heterochromia! dovewing has a green right eye and a blue left eye, while ivypool has a green left eye and a blue right eye!
4. instead of all of bluestar's kits looking like her (with the exception of mosskit, but to be fair she doesnt look all like oakheart either), stonefur's body type is much more similar to oakheart (bulky and somewhat muscular), and he has yellowish/amber eyes. mistystar is almost a carbon copy of bluestar with the exception that she has lighter more icy blue eyes than bluestar. i like to think mosskit looks the same as her canon description but one of her eyes is half yellow/amber and half blue
5. hollyleaf inherited squirrelflight's single white paw, and has the same color eyes as squilf (and by that i mean like......same shade and everything. basically identical.) once she found out about squirrelflight not being their mother she would cover her white paw in brambles and holly leaves, trying to cover it up as best as she could. eventually she took the brambles and holly leaves off, after finally coming to terms with everything
6. briarlight and jayfeather would go out for walks, early early during the morning, when barely any cats were awake. not only just to get briarlight out of the den and to exercise her legs, but because she liked to describe everything she could see to jayfeather
7. when firestar first came into the forest and met tallstar for the first time, the first thing tallstar thought of was jake, and how much firestar looked like him. he knew immediately that this was jake's kid lol
8. brightheart and jayfeather liked to decorate briarlight's nest with flowers and feathers and all sorts of stuff while briarlight was asleep. her reaction is always priceless, like she never expects a thing.
9. tigerstar and brambleclaw WOULD'VE looked exactly the same......if it wasn't for goldenflower. brambleclaw is much more golden tinted and fluffy, more similar to goldenflower, which is what sets him apart from tigerstar. despite looking like a fluffy boy he is still an asshole
10. i havent even READ the broken code yet, but i like to think that when ashfur possesses brambleclaw, he changes like......a lot. his eyes change from amber to blue, and he definitely looks more like a ghost than a real.....cat. the tabby stripes on his pelt change into spots/flecks (similar to ashfur's darker flecks of fur), and occasionally little specks of ash will fall off of him, or if he shakes he'll spray bits of ash everywhere. just a little nod to him actually being ashfur, i suppose
and those are all the things i can think of! feel free to reblog this/reply to this and add more!

how i would rewrite warrior cats: into the wild
rewriting the entire series is a big Thing in the warrior cats fandom, and i don’t have the time to do that. however i have been having Ideas about what i would do if i rewrote the books, and the changes are... drastic, to say the least, so i figured i would write them down in a bullet-point style List Thing to see what happens.
- we open on henry, an old wise sage-type kittypet, telling two kittypet kits- rusty and smudge- about the forest cats and their legends, primarily that of how the clans were born
- there were always little groups of cats in the forest, and they were originally very hostile- except for a lush spot full of prey, herbs, just about anything needed for survival. this spot has had many names and is referred to by a different name for each clan but universally, it’s called fourtrees, because there are four grand oaks that guard the area. this spot was something of a truce area where all the groups could get along
- however tension slowly boiled throughout the forest until there was a massive war at fourtrees. lots of cats dead and even more wounded. their spirits joined together to form starclan, who told the cats to unite or die- and as punishment for breaking the fourtrees truce, they set the whole thing ablaze. it’s no longer the survival spot it was
- however, the spirits say, the four oaks will grow from their charred remains again, as will the rest of the area. everything will be as it once was in time. starclan themselves cannot last, and must be reborn every 600 moons (or some other large number) from the midst of celestial battle. however, every time this happens, the spirits say, the coming of the ‘end of the stars’ will always and only be heralded by a heroic cat in a flame-orange coat, as a nod to the fire that started the clans to begin with. so it’s kind of like an avatar thing
- anyway 6 moons later there’s a battle at sunningrocks that kills redtail and oakheart. bluestar and spottedleaf, while discussing who will replace redtail, see a comet across the sky
- every falling star means a warrior has faded in starclan, and it means they are to be reborn- and something wonderful is on the cusp of beginning, says spottedleaf. spottedleaf also notes that according to the calendar system kept by the medicine cats the ‘fire alone’ cat should have arrived about 6 months ago, so everyone’s worried about what’s going on w/ that, Where Are They. she does note however that a lot of cats think the calendar had a miscalculation at some point and that the ‘fire alone’ cat is shadowclan’s new leader
- anyway rusty, the kittypet, decides to enter the forest. the twoleg nests here are Not A Good Place for cats to live, bc there’s constant fighting between the kittypets and everyone has their own boundaries and it’s very chaotic. there is a group that tries to monitor it called the blood brothers, but they’re usually in the city so their guidance isn’t often There. so both rusty and smudge want to Get Out and join the clans
- like in the original books he meets graypaw, who’s always interested in outsiders, and then bluestar, lionheart, and tigerclaw. lionheart is graypaw’s mentor, bluestar is thunderclan’s leader, and tigerclaw is bluestar’s nephew who is kindly yet determined, and has become deputy after redtail’s demise. again like in the originals he’s accepted into thunderclan fast
- smudge feels Betrayed. for some reason the writing takes special note of the glimmer in his striped collar- it’s all kind of colors, purple, red, blue, yellow. it’s very distinctive...
- next morning, lionheart and tigerclaw lead rusty to the thunderclan camp. all is well and good until longpaw and sandpaw roll up
- longpaw and sandpaw are twins and look exactly alike. they’re also the children of redtail and are both very competitive with everyone and each other (although they are very close) because they want to be Like Their Dad. both are taking redtail’s death hard
- longpaw is like ‘i wanna beat him up’ and given these are two 10 year olds basically everyone’s like ‘well rusty can fight too so Bet.’ it’s an even fight, longpaw gets his ear torn and rusty gets his collar ripped off
- this fight proves rusty is capable of being in thunderclan, and he’s renamed firepaw, which is a nod to the ‘fire alone’ thing as a ‘hey isn’t it funny he came right after the clock lined up for a fire-cloaked savior? strange lol’
- anyway firepaw is introduced to some Other Characters besides everyone i’ve mentioned thus far: - ravenpaw, medicine cat apprentice. he was a loner kit found abandoned on the territory and he’s constantly nervous and jittery. he’s also kind of clingy and a tad annoying because he’s constantly worried of being abandoned again, but he Is endearing - graypaw and darkpaw, twins similar to longpaw and sandpaw (although unlike them they have an ‘opposite twins’ kinda thing). both are the sons of willowpelt and a shadowclan tom, but both deal with it differently: graypaw is a dreamer who constantly is interested in cats from outside thunderclan ‘like him’, and darkpaw wants to try and overcompensate for it by being nothing but loyal- especially to his mentor, tigerclaw, who’s a father figure to him. dark isn’t mean but he is very sardonic and sarcastic, and it’s also made increasingly obvious that he Knows Something and is very nervous about it. weird - (yes, longpaw and sandpaw are annoyed that they’re the only ‘fully clan’ cats in this batch of apprentices.) - spottedleaf, thunderclan medicine cat. kind of a ditzy aunt type, it’s joked that she acts like a stoner bc she’s inhaling all the Herb Scents all day. fully enables all of the kids to do Dumb Things - the elders, who dislike all these new apprentices bc besides long and sand none of them are fully clan-blooded. the most vocal about this is thistleclaw, an elder always trying to start shit, and tigerclaw’s father (altho tiger is embarrassed by thistle’s outbursts). - and finally, cinderkit, who always tags along w/ the apprentices although she isn’t supposed to. she is however very smart and the apprentices don’t mind her tagging along. she’s made an apprentice like 1/2 way through here
- anyway at the gathering windclan is MISSING and NOBODY seems to know what is going on, but both riverclan and shadowclan are acting shady about it.
- also brokenstar, The New ShadowClan Leader, seems like a nice guy, a Poster Boy type. his fur is bright orange so everyone’s like, ‘yea he’s the fire that’ll herald feline gottdammerung’ but nobody wants to THINK about feline gottdammerung yet because like, That’s An Upsetting Thought! it’s also noted that he’s way young for a leader
- anyway the apprentices (and cinderkit) are like. ‘we gotta know what's happening and why windclan vanished’ and everyone is involved (although sand and long keep their distance). it’s a very ‘up at midnight at a slumber party’ kind of aesthetic. everyone in shadow and river also has a motive, and at points there’s even evidence that something caused windclan to die out. lots of red herrings
- eventually yellowfang comes into the picture like she does in canon and they figure out shadowclan drove windclan out and that windclan is Alive and Out There somewhere. the evidence is enough that spottedleaf and tigerclaw (who's like the Cool Resident Dad) agree about it and so a spy patrol is sent to sneak in on shadowclan
- anyway everyone discovers how fucked up shadowclan is behind the curtain (what with the elder abuse and child warfare) and is like ‘holy shit we gotta stop these guys’ so there’s a big fight like in the original book and brokenstar is dethroned like he is in canon and brought to thunderclan
- thunderclan saves the day, yellowfang joins spottedleaf in the med cat den, and the apprentices all get names (save ravenpaw who’s a med cat apprentice)- firepaw is fireheart, graypaw is graystripe, darkpaw is darkstripe, longpaw is longtail (in honor of redtail), and sandpaw is sandstorm. it’s noted darkstripe looks super uncomfortable when tigerclaw is mentioned to be deputy. long and sand have a humorous argument abt their names and who got the Cooler One
- however everyone’s like ‘ok so brokenstar wasn’t the Fire Savior so who IS’ and fire is dismissed out of hand bc he’s a kittypet and all the past fire saviors was clanborn. ravenpaw however tells fireheart in private that he believes fireheart is the Fire Alone, and that Shit Is About To Go The Fuck Down
- meanwhile, darkstripe asks if he can see fireheart alone, and fireheart obliges. darkstripe sits down and, very quietly, says ‘i have to tell you about what happened to redtail.’
- and it ends there lol that’s book one.

Just put this in tags in another post buT I wanna make a full post on my full thoughts
Mapleshade good i love her
She was introduced as this character who was just a dark forest cat
All you know about her is that she was evil
Then shes this figure of torture in crookedstar promise
All you know about her is that she is evil. For these reasons we hardly understand or that are explained and that crookedstar was no part of. She seems evil and irrational. All you know about her is that she is evil and your meant to think nothing else
Then mapleshade vengeance happened
And most of yall seemed to read it and continued to think mapleshade was evil and that was it. plain and simple Because you've been told this for so long that you haven't considered ever that she can be seen as anything else.
Mapleshade is already a character written in a poorly written book series that tends to make things very black and white. Especially with rules and how cats feel. Stuff along these lines. If the writers say a cat is evil we for some reason can’t seem to be allowed to see them as anything else even if some of their evil stuff is agreed to be ok on other characters or isolated without the characters name attached.
Mapleshade is a cat who lives in the clans, and anyone with the ability to think knows the clans kinds suck. There are rules that are ridiculous and even harmful such as these mixed clan romances and shit.
Mapleshade also appears to be living in a time where the clans are cruel and strict.
Mapleshade is a cat who made a mistake with the cat she chose to loved. Appledusk never loved her and she made the mistake of getting close to him.
She wasn't in love with Birchface. She never had to be. But when someone ask if that's her kits father, of course she says yes. Because she knows the laws and isnt looking to start up more trouble than she is already in.
Mapleshade killed appledusk, who more than deserved it. And was surrounded by cats who let her kits die. Cats who despite seeing and knowing her loyalty and young young kits decided their laws were so important that the death of one cat (Birchface) was worth ruining a whole family and letting children drown. (I really don’t see anyone talking about blaming the cats who let all this happen, only yall you want to say mapleshade let her kits die and shit like HELLO?)
Mapleshade loses her kits, I often see people say 'she killed her kits it's her fault for making them cross the river' like hello the books are badly written?? You think this lady who clearly loved her kits so much would have done that just because and not because she thought she needed to. You act like bluestar didnt take her kits out of camp in the freezing cold and lose one. Mapleshade was desperate and afraid with no where to go but with hoped riverclan. All she had was hope, and at her kits death she had nothing. With appledusk and darkstar and everyone else turning her away at this point she had less than nothing. She is upset and she goes on her quest of vengeance against cats who wronged her over and over. ( I really don’t understand how this isnt seen as an epic tale of a mother who sought vengeance for her three lost children sPECIALLY when we on SO many occasions have seen  cats murder others for equal to less reasons. its a fucking fantasy book about WARRIOR feral CATS yEAH sometimes a killing gonna happen and it DOES A LOT!)
Mapleshade lives in world that chose to be nothing but cruel to her and she dies by its hands.
Normie warrior cat fans dont have a single sympathetic bone in their body
'Mapleshade is a murderer!' So are a lot of cats yall dont NEarly give as much shit for also it's a fantasy cat book where they fight and shit big woop
BUT the real point I'm making, my idea for better writing
Mapleshade has killed these cats who wronged her and starclan sees her through their glasses of black and white. She is a murderer. She goes to the dark forest.
But miraculously despite their stupidity, they recognize some of the cats she killed as rule breakers. they are also sent to the dark forest
Mapleshade spends the afterlife tormented by the ghost of her past.
She stands on the edge of the dark forest and thinks of her family
Then
Crookedstars promise
But instead of just a story where mapleshade haunts and torments crookedjaw
Crookedjaw struggles with mapleshade as she tries to get revenge, tormenting him however she can. She has become twisted and dark with her time spent in the forest.
However, Crookedjaw learns about Mapleshade. hears the stories of mapleshade. Here's the vile way people say her name. They see her as evil because it's what they've been told. A story of this cat who killed Riverclan warriors for what their told, no reasons. Shes only a murderer.
But Crookedjaw gets the full story from Mapleshade and potentially others.
He sympathizes with her and understands why she would be so hateful and spiteful of his family despite many moons past.
Crookedstars promise becomes a book of healing. Crookedjaw does what he can to atone for his family's mistakes and what they did to mapleshade.
Mapleshade isnt sure she can ever forgive what happened.
Crookedjaw and bluefur fall in love and she has their kits.
Mapleshade watches. She is seen by crookedjaw less and less as she had begun to watch over bluefur and her new born kits. She sees herself in the new queen. She wants her to thrive and be well.
When mapleshade knows bluefur has decided to take her kits to riverclan so she can be leader. Mapleshade wants to yell
She watches bluefur get up and take her kits. Mapleshade yells and yells to bluefur. she tells her to turn back. It's too cold, turn back. They wont make it, please! Someone else can be deputy. Do this another day. Anything! Please dont do this!
Mapleshade frantically tries to get her ghostly cries to reach bluefur
Snowfur's ghost walks on in silence. Eyes on mosskit.
Mosskit drops. She dies and Mapleshade cries for the kit who has died too young. For the blue queen to has made a mistake that got her own beloved kit killed. Much like Mapleshade has many moons ago.
Mapleshade is heart broken as she watches bluefur get her kits to riverclan. the only thing that brings her joy is watching Crookedjaw and Oakheart accept these kits to their side of the river lovingly, accepting them fully as family.
Snowfur leads mosskit to starclan. Mapleshade follows as far as she can go to make sure they make it ok.
She stands at the edge of starclan like she has so many times. Watching the two cats walk right in.
Snowfur stops. Still quiet. And gives a single nod to follow.
Mapleshade enters starclan. She sprints into starclan until she is met with her babies
Mapleshade lives out her days with her babies, and her new found family with snowfur and mosskit. Soon oakheart. Stonefur and bluestar. Crookedstar is there happy to see the cat he knew deserved a second chance. They wait for mistystar now.
Mapleshade is finally at peace
Appledusk replaces maples position in the dark forest.
All you were supposes to know about mapleshade was that she was evil. But maybe she could be more.

Rosetail, Shadepelt, Darkstripe, Crookedstar, Willowbreeze, Greypool, Mudfur, Deadfoot?
Welp, my tabs fucked up and i lost what i was writing, so here’s take two
Rosetail: I made her a kittypet that joined the clan at ~4-5 months old just to keep the family trees cleaner.  She was good friends with Bluestar and they trained together.  She eventually got together with Thrushpelt after they were both turned down by Bluestar and had three litters together.  Their third and last litter died with them during the winter before Fireheart arrived in the clan.
Shadepelt: My girl’s super dead now but she was basically Sunfish’s personal chosen one after she noticed how well she excelled as a warrior apprentice.  So Shadepelt felt the pressure from a pretty young age.  Honestly, she wanted to be a kittypet or a loner well before she admitted that to Leopardfur, and she would’ve gone through with it if she’d lived that long.
Darkstripe: My mans was hit by a double whammy to be honest.  On one hand, he was overshadowed by a dead sister who didn’t even live to be 3 months old and an overbearing mother who genuinely believed he was the reincarnation of said sister.  On the other hand, Tigerclaw consistently told him that he was the only one in the clan who cared about Darkstripe.  On a third hand, he was also an only kitten and his only two peers, Mousefur and Swiftstep, also had a habit of ignoring him.
Crookedstar: Somewhat similar to canon.  Broke his jaw as a kitten, never left the clan but his mother wrote him off as “dead, or in the least can never be a warrior” and neglected him.  Oakheart and Shellheart more than made up for that, though, and he grew up happy.  He never strove to be leader, but because he was charming, friendly, and determined, he was popular among his clanmates and got chosen after Shellheart’s retirement.
Willowbreeze: I don’t really have much to say about her.  Tbh she prolly wasn’t much different than canon (i can’t remember much about her).  She and Crookedstar were quite happy, but a couple years before the start of the story she and their litter died during labour and Crookedstar grieved long and hard over that.
Greypool: Also pretty much the same.  She was very much a mother to Mistfoot and Stonefur, and though she, Mudfur, and Oakheart never explicitly explained what their relationship was to the rest of the clan considering she nursed and helped raise his son and daughter, most assumed that they were in a poly relationship of some sort.
Mudfur: Started as a warrior and was pretty proud of it, but he was disturbed by the violence between Thunderclan and Riverclan (and Windclan as well) over territory and inevitably decided to become a healer.  He and Greypool went through a bit of a rough patch over it, but came out of it fine.  He helped raise Mistfoot and Stonefur to an extent, but he mostly didn’t want kits and stayed out of it.
Deadfoot: Deadfoot is one of the hardest working cats in Windclan.  Being born with a twisted front paw would inevitably make a lot of a warrior’s normal tasks more difficult, but he was nonetheless allowed to prove himself and prove himself he did.  He’s not the best hunter or fighter (in fact he’s a rather poor hunter) but he’s whip smart and very diplomatic.  This has both helped quell the grumblings over Breezestar’s decisions (though a lot of cats don’t like Deadfoot just because Breezestar chose him) and in general helped with Windclan’s new reputation of being amiable to the other clans.

Warrior Cats Hunger Games (Pt 1)
Welcome everyone, to the Warrior Cats Hunger Games! I’ve added as many cats as i can fit (48) and specifically the ones i know of/like/etc. I haven’t read the books for a few years, so i have no idea how in-character half of these guys are gonna be. (i will be treating this like an au)
I don’t know if anyone’s gonna care about this post/au, but i’m gonna make my fun everyone else’s problem. My next wc hunger games thing will be a whole bunch of kits against eachother, and then maybe the leaders.
(everything else will be under the cut bc wow this is long)
In the districts, we have Firestar, Sandstorm, Squirrelflight, Leafpool, Silverstream, Feathertail, Stormfur, Greystripe, Tigerstar, Hawkfrost, Brambleclaw, Ashfur, Mothwing, Tawnypelt, Millie, Goldenflower, Bluestar, Oakheart, Stonefur, Mistystar, Quince, Jake, Princess, Nutmeg, Tallstar, Brokenstar, Crookedstar, Onestar, Jayfeather, Lionblaze, Hollyleaf, Dovewing, Ivypool, Cinderheart, Cinderpelt, Cloudtail, Brightheart, Swiftpaw, Ravenpaw, Barley, Briarlight, Alderheart, Crowfeather, Breezepelt, Mapleshade, Deadfoot, Yellowfang, and Darkstripe! (districts split into 12 groups of 4)
so, let the games begin! (no images bc too many characters, names will be bolded)
Round 1: Bloodbath
- Nutmeg, Princess, Crookedstar, Breezepelt, Brokenstar, Onestar, Millie, Stormfur run away from the cornucopia -Cloudtail, Dovewing, and Ravenpaw run into the cornucopia and hide -Quince gathers as much food as she can -Cinderheart and Silverstream both grab backpacks, silverstream’s is full of camping equiptment - Stonefur grabs a jar of fishing bait while Hawkfrost gets fishing gear. -Yellowfang, Darkstripe, Brambleclaw, and Alderheart share everything they gathered before running. -Feathertail scares Goldenflower away from the cornucopia.
-Weapons:  Mistystar grabs a shovel  Bluestar grabs a sword Leafpool runs away with a lighter and some rope Jake grabs a shovel Oakheart takes a handful of throwing knives Tawnypelt finds a bow, some arrows, and a quiver.
-Deaths: Briarlight and Mapleshade fight for a bag, Briarlight strangles Mapleshade with the straps and runs.  Cinderpelt sets an explosive off, killing Jayfeather, Swiftpaw, and Greystripe. Deadfoot sets an explosive off, killing Crowfeather, and Ashfur. Tallstar repeatedly stabs Sandstorm to death with sais. Squirrelflight overpowers Brightheart, killing her. Tigerstar pushes Ivypool off a cliff during a knife fight. Firestar sets an explosive off, killing Mothwing. Barley and Hollyleaf work together to drown Lionblaze.
So that brings the deaths for round 1 to: 11 cats down, 37 left, with Mapleshade being the first to die
Day 1: (unknown sponsors are from starclan)
- Squirrelflight diverts Tawnypelt's attention and runs away. - Leafpool steals from Deadfoot while he isn't looking. -Alderheart fishes. -Darkstripe constructs a shack. -Hawkfrost, Ravenpaw, and Dovewing hunt for other tributes. -Firestar, Barley, Cinderheart, and Feathertail hunt for other tributes. -Silverstream, Goldenflower, Brambleclaw, and Hollyleaf raid Cinderpelt's camp while she is hunting. - Briarlight injures herself. -Nutmeg stalks Stormfur. -Bluestar chases Cloudtail. -Yellowfang sprains her ankle while running away from Quince.
-Weapons: -Tallstar makes a slingshot -Brokenstar makes a wooden spear. -Millie practices her archery. -Crookedstar receives a hatchet from Starclan, and Jake receives an explosive.
-Deaths/Attacks: - Oakheart attacks Onestar, but he manages to escape. -Tigerstar, Mistystar, and Breezepelt get into a fight. Breezepelt triumphantly kills them both. -Princess catches Stonefur off guard and kills him.
so day 1 ends, and we have 3 deaths!
Night 1:
-Quince, Firestar, Tallstar, and Darkstripe tell each other ghost stories to lighten the mood. -Nutmeg, Princess, Goldenflower, and Ravenpaw tell each other ghost stories to lighten the mood. -Oakheart stays awake all night. -Cinderpelt is unable to start a fire and sleeps without warmth. -Breezepelt questions his sanity. -Millie, Tawnypelt, and Cinderheart cheerfully sing songs together. -Feathertail cries herself to sleep. -Onestar starts a fire. -Squirrelflight cooks her food before putting her fire out. -Brambleclaw receives clean water from an unknown sponsor. -Hawkfrost thinks about winning. -Cloudtail and Leafpool talk about the tributes still alive. -Stormfur passes out from exhaustion. -Dovewing sets up camp for the night. -Barley thinks about home. -Deadfoot, Yellowfang, and Bluestar discuss the games and what might happen in the morning. -Hollyleaf climbs a tree to rest. -Briarlight tries to treat her infection.
-Weapons: -Silverstream receives an explosive from an unknown sponsor.
-Deaths/Attacks: -Alderheart throws a knife into Jake's head. -Brokenstar repeatedly stabs Crookedstar to death with sais.
so 2 deaths for night 1, poor jake, although i do find it cute how the rest of his family is telling ghost stories to eachother.
Day 2:
-Silverstream, Barley, Deadfoot, and Brambleclaw raid Squirrelflight's camp while she is hunting. -Feathertail, Dovewing, Cloudtail, and Hollyleaf raid Tallstar's camp while he is hunting. -Oakheart and Brokenstar both receive a hatchet from an unknown sponsor -Hawkfrost receives clean water from an unknown sponsor. -Alderheart and Princess both try to sleep through the entire day, seperately. -Breezepelt and Briarlight explore the arena. -Onestar goes hunting. -Quince and Darkstripe both question their sanity. -Ravenpaw and Nutmeg are both pricked by thorns while picking berries. -Cinderpelt sees smoke rising in the distance, but decides not to investigate. -Leafpool chases Firestar. -Bluestar stalks Stormfur. -Yellowfang runs away from Tawnypelt.
-Deaths: -Goldenflower shoots a poisonous blow dart into Millie's neck, slowly killing her.
-Weapons: -Cinderheart makes a slingshot.
so 1 death for day 2. The idea of Leafpool chasing her own father and bluestar chasing her own son is brilliant, and somehow a nice parallel.
Night 2:
-Feathertail, Leafpool, and Princess discuss the games and what might happen in the morning. -Ravenpaw tends to his wounds. -Darkstripe tries to sing himself to sleep. -Quince convinces Hollyleaf to snuggle with her. -Both Goldenflower and Cloudtail sleep without issue. -Stormfur lets Cinderheart into his shelter. -Squirrelflight sees a fire, but stays hidden. -Barley is unable to start a fire and sleeps without warmth. -Deadfoot climbs a tree to rest. -Tallstar screams for help. -Oakheart, Briarlight, Yellowfang, and Bluestar tell each other ghost stories to lighten the mood. -Dovewing, Silverstream, Brambleclaw, and Alderheart tell each other ghost stories to lighten the mood.
-Deaths: Breezepelt falls into a frozen lake and drowns. Onestar attempts to climb a tree, but falls on Firestar, killing them both. Cinderpelt and Hawkfrost track down and kill Tawnypelt.
-Weapons: Brokenstar receives an explosive from an unknown sponsor. Nutmeg receives an explosive from an unknown sponsor.
4 deaths for night 2! rip firestar, not surprised by hawkfrost, and atleast it wasnt tawnypelt that drowned. Also who thought it was a good idea to give Brokenstar both a hatchet and an explosive?
Day 3:
-Darkstripe and Hawkfrost both construct a shack. -Brokenstar, Feathertail, Hollyleaf, Ravenpaw, and Briarlight hunt for other tributes. -Silverstream, Nutmeg, Deadfoot, and Quince hunt for other tributes. -Alderheart picks flowers. -Oakheart receives fresh food from an unknown sponsor. -Squirrelflight explores the arena. -Dovewing tries to sleep through the entire day. -Stormfur chases Barley.
-Deaths/Attacks: -Cinderpelt, Bluestar, Leafpool, Cinderheart, and Princess track down and kill Brambleclaw. -Yellowfang begs for Cloudtail to kill her. He refuses, keeping Yellowfang alive.
-Weapons: -Tallstar makes a slingshot. -Goldenflower practices her archery.
1 kill for day 3, thank starclan leafpool and princess decided to get rid of their sister/niece’s main problem (and thank starclan cinderpelt, bluestar, and cinderheart decided to help)
Night 3:
Nutmeg fends Darkstripe, Silverstream, and Hawkfrost away from her fire. Stormfur tries to sing himself to sleep. Ravenpaw receives clean water from an unknown sponsor. Hollyleaf looks at the night sky. Dovewing and Deadfoot are both awoken by nightmares. Yellowfang, Alderheart, and Briarlight cheerfully sing songs together. Cinderpelt, Goldenflower, and Brokenstar cheerfully sing songs together. Cloudtail goes to sleep. Tallstar and Quince sleep in shifts. Princess and Barely both receive medical supplies from unknown sponsors. Oakheart lets Leafpool into his shelter. Bluestar thinks about winning. Cinderheart questions her sanity.
-Deaths/Attacks: -Feathertail begs for Squirrelflight to kill her. She refuses, keeping Feathertail alive.
No deaths for night 3, but some cute imagery of alderheart, yellowfang, and briarlight singing together, along with hollyleaf looking up at silverpelt. But also someone put feathertail into therapy.
Currently, the cat with the most kills is- Cinderpelt with 5 kills!? and, with 26 cats left, she still has the oppurtunity to get more kills in before someone targets her.
Day 4:
-Hawkfrost diverts Darkstripe's attention and runs away. -Dovewing, Alderheart, Brokenstar, and Cinderheart raid Silverstream's camp while she is hunting. -Yellowfang and Goldenflower hunt for other tributes. -Cloudtail, Oakheart, Princess, and Leafpool hunt for other tributes. -Stormfur and Tallstar split up to search for resources. -Nutmeg tries to spear fish with a trident. -Barley tries to sleep through the entire day. -Deadfoot questions his sanity. -Cinderpelt is pricked by thorns while picking berries. -Hollyleaf injures herself.
-Deaths: -Quince forces Briarlight to kill Squirrelflight or Ravenpaw. She refuses to kill, so Quince kills her instead. -Bluestar shoots a poisonous blow dart into Feathertail's neck, slowly killing her.
2 deaths for day 4, also quince, great starclan, squirrelflight is your (step) granddaughter!
Night 4:
-Yellowfang, Leafpool and Cinderpelt quietly hum. -Hawkfrost attempts to start a fire, but is unsuccessful. -Ravenpaw, Barley, Quince, and Alderheart tell each other ghost stories to lighten the mood. -Stormfur, Nutmeg, Oakheart, and Cinderheart tell each other ghost stories to lighten the mood. -Cloudtail stays awake all night. -Darkstripe is unable to start a fire and sleeps without warmth. -Squirrelflight starts a fire. -Hollyleaf, Bluestar, and Tallstar sleep in shifts. -Deadfoot sees a fire, but stays hidden. -Brokenstar is awoken by nightmares. -Silverstream cries herself to sleep. -Dovewing questions her sanity. -Goldenflower screams for help.
-Deaths/Attacks: -Princess dies from an infection.
1 death for night 4, poor princess, but atleast she gets to stay with her brother and father now. I like the little musical trio the med cats have going on, and its good to see ravenpaw hanging out with barley.
Day 5:
Hollyleaf, Bluestar, Barley, and Ravenpaw raid Nutmeg's camp while she is hunting. Alderheart receives clean water from an unknown sponsor. Goldenflower constructs a shack. Stormfur hunts for other tributes. Quince is pricked by thorns while picking berries. Leafpool scares Squirrelflight off. Hawkfrost stalks Oakheart. Dovewing steals from Silverstream while she isn't looking.
-Deaths/Attacks: Cinderpelt begs for Darkstripe to kill her. He refuses, keeping Cinderpelt alive. Yellowfang attacks Tallstar, but he manages to escape. Deadfoot begs for Cinderheart to kill him. She refuses, keeping Deadfoot alive. Brokenstar attacks Cloudtail, but he manages to escape.
No deaths for day 5. Interesting things: Leafpool scaring her own sister away, and Cinderpelt begging to be killed while Cinderheart refuses to kill. (nice lil parallel there)
Night 5
-Ravenpaw and Hawkfrost run into each other and decide to truce for the night. -Alderheart looks at the night sky. -Cinderheart receives clean water from an unknown sponsor. -Bluestar and Darkstripe huddle for warmth. -Hollyleaf looks at the night sky. -Leafpool tries to sing herself to sleep. -Tallstar starts a fire. -Nutmeg and Squirrelflight talk about the tributes still alive.
-Deaths: -Barley kills Oakheart with his own weapon. -Quince and Goldenflower fight Cloudtail and Silverstream. Cloudtail and Silverstream survive. -Stormfur pushes Dovewing off a cliff during a knife fight. -Brokenstar and Deadfoot fight Cinderpelt and Yellowfang. Brokenstar and Deadfoot survive.
5 kills on night 5, cloudtail kills his own step-grandmother and brokenstar, in revenge for his own death, kills his own mother. also, this is the second time stormfur has watched a bird unable to fly (sorry, too soon?) Another cute thing is Nutmeg and Squirrelflight bonding, and Hollyleaf once again looking up at silverpelt
Day 6
Hollyleaf explores the arena. Cloudtail discovers a cave. Darkstripe constructs a shack. Leafpool collects fruit from a tree. Barley searches for firewood. Silverstream and Stormfur split up to search for resources. Ravenpaw diverts Nutmeg's attention and runs away.
-Deaths: - Alderheart dies from an infection. -Brokenstar and Hawkfrost threaten a double suicide. It fails and they die. -Bluestar, Cinderheart, and Deadfoot get into a fight. Bluestar triumphantly kills them both. -Tallstar attempts to climb a tree, but falls to his death.
-Weapons: -Squirrelflight makes a slingshot.
6 deaths for day 6, deadfoot’s paw isnt the only part of him dead now, alderheart apparently forgot how to be a medicine cat, and tallstar proves why windclan cats dont belong in trees (leave the tree climbing to skyclan, tallstar)
So, checking back up on the surviving members and the highest kill count: 11 cats left, with Bluestar coming out on top with 4 kills
Night 6
Darkstripe destroys Silverstream's supplies while she is asleep. Barley climbs a tree to rest. Stormfur stays awake all night. Hollyleaf receives clean water from an unknown sponsor. Leafpool sees a fire, but stays hidden.
Deaths: Bluestar falls into a pit and dies. Ravenpaw poisons Squirrelflight's drink. She drinks it and dies. Cloudtail throws a knife into Nutmeg's chest.
3 deaths, Bluestar reinacts her canon death, Ravenpaw kills his friend’s daughter, and cloudtail kills his grandmother. How in starclan’s name is barley still alive, and how did nutmeg survive this long?
Day 7
Barley camouflauges himself in the bushes. Leafpool and Hollyleaf hunt for other tributes. Darkstripe tends to Cloudtail's wounds. Ravenpaw injures himself.
-Deaths: -Stormfur attempts to climb a tree, but falls to his death.
-Weapons: -Silverstream makes a wooden spear.
one death, like sister like brother. The leaf duo are on the hunt, and cloudtail probably caught his paw on the knife he threw at nutmeg. (also barley how are you still alive dude, seriously!?)
Night 7
-Barley questions his sanity. -Cloudtail, Darkstripe, Ravenpaw, and Silverstream tell each other ghost stories to lighten the mood.
-Deaths: -Hollyleaf poisons Leafpool's drink, but mistakes it for her own and dies.
Hollyleaf betrays her mother, Barley is also wondering how hes still alive, and Silverstream has probably adopted ravenpaw at this rate, considering both her children and her mate are now dead.
one last check-up on everyone: 6 cats alive, cloudtail leading with 3 kills.
Day 8
Ravenpaw sees smoke rising in the distance, but decides not to investigate. Cloudtail camouflauges himself in the bushes. Barley discovers a cave.
-Deaths: Darkstripe bashes Silverstream's head in with a mace.
-Weapons: Leafpool practices her archery.
i spoke too soon, silverstream has joined her mate and kits. down to the final 5.
Night 8
Ravenpaw, Cloudtail, Darkstripe, and Barley tell each other ghost stories to lighten the mood. Leafpool is awoken by nightmares.
One last good night before everyone gets killed, i see. We actually have quite an interesting final group here.
Day 9
Leafpool fishes. Darkstripe sees smoke rising in the distance, but decides not to investigate. Cloudtail searches for a water source. Barley explores the arena. Ravenpaw searches for firewood.
Great starclan their getting along?? barley, i’m starting to hope you win this now
Night 9
Barley and Ravenpaw sleep in shifts.
-Deaths: Cloudtail accidently detonates a land mine while trying to arm it. Leafpool kills Darkstripe while he is sleeping.
technically my comment at night 8 was right, they did have one last good day/night before everyone started dying. Now, its just Leafpool, Barley, and Ravenpaw, which could cause a painful ending depending on who the final two are.
and, finally, day 10, the final day!
Day 10
Ravenpaw bashes Barley's head against a rock several times. Leafpool dies of dysentery.
now that was a painful and unexpected kill from Ravenpaw, and poor leafpool (although she is a medicine cat, i dont think the warrior cats know what dysentery is)
well, rest in peace leafpool and barley, but that leaves only one cat:
Ravenpaw from District 10 is the winner with only 2 kills!
now, the cat with the most kills is Cinderpelt with 5 kills!
what a match. i certainly had fun, hope everyone else did too!

Princess and Rusty swapped, under read more
The basic premise IS that Princess is the one with the prophecy, the call to the outdoors and the like. Rusty comes in later as her littermate who she bonds with.
I'm not certain if I'll switch any other roles around, on one hand having a parent/child relationship like Bluestar and Firestar stay with Bluestar and Princess is tempting, switching Bluestar with any male counterparts could get tangled so I'm not sure on that.
Sandstorm is still female. She was an abandoned kit just outside of the clan territory that Redtail and Runningwind found. She was nursed by Brindleface. Like canon, she loses half her litter, the last two being Fernkit and Ashkit. They are born significantly sooner, there's less than a years gap between Dustpelt and Sandstorm being made warriors and Ashfur and Ferncloud being made apprentices.
Princess and Sandstorm become mates, and optionally Dustpelt sires for them but I'm not certain if it'd go well? Since it'd be in the 1-2 years between Ferncloud being a warrior and her and Dustpelt being mates.
A lot of my rough outline follows Bluestar and Tigerstar being switched.
Ravenpaw still leaves and goes to the barn, where hes mates with Barley. Graystripe falls into the river still and the two options are A) still Silverstream or Graypools kits Swankit, Morningkit and Splashkit are alive and he becomes mates with one of them, with Silverstream being the surrogate if its Splashkit. I want to keep the cross clan relationship there because its pretty good?
I'm not sure how to write in Brambleclaw and Tawnypelt though. My options are either Goldenflower is 100% a Riverclan cat or was Thunderclan and moved to Riverclan. I'm unsure. Either way, Swiftpaw was Tigerstars. He still dies in the dog attack, he hangs on long enough to be recovered to the clan and comforted in his strength and bravery, and given a warrior name. Optionally he was Riverclan who saw Brightpaw alone and ran to save her but I'm not sure?? This is if I switch Tigerclaw and Bluestar
If Bluestar and Tigerstar are swapped, Bluestar would've had kits with Thrushpelt, she just would've lied and said they were Oakhearts to create tension and hurt Thrushpelt.
Tallstar and Jake are mates, Jake is just a surrogate for Quince and Nutmeg.
Currently I either want Scourge to have been MIA OR for Jake to have basically stolen him after he saw what was happening, carting him off to Windclan where he's made a warrior. Either way, Ruby still takes his place in the story as a scourge against all cats. Name is also a wip
One major thing I want to be known: Princess has the kits, not Sandstorm. She nurses them and traded places with Sandstorm occasionally to do deputy duties, and when the dogs are around, she isn't part of the dog chase, she actually takes the last leg of the run instead of Sandstorm, who would've had the last 2 roles in the run. Sandstorm absolutely chews her out afterwards for being so reckless with her safety.
Sandstorm also isn't kept in as much darkness as canon, she knows about any half clan kits/relationships and doesn't put much of a fuss up, mostly because she knows she wasn't a clan born kit.
Also because I hated this: when Redtail is brought back to camp dead, she does actually grieve him instead of just ignoring that he's dead. Runningwind and Mousefur are in a similar situation to Dustpelt and Ferncloud and are almost apprentices when Redtail is made a warrior.
Runningwind still dies to Tigerclaw, and when Sandstorm finds out, she has it OUT for Tigerstar for killing both of her dads AND her foster mother?? No forgiveness. Optionally Bluestar if I do switch it around. I actually have an entire layout for if I DO switch Bluestar and Tigerstars places, since I really don't want it to seem like I'm ripping that from another rewrite thats been around longer than mine. But I'll talk about it if anyone asks. It also ties into why I brought up Graypools kits previously.
Side note, Cinderpelt still gets hit by the car, she still gets her leg mangled. After recovery, she spends a lot of time trying to continue warrior training, including going to Deadfoot for help on a lame leg. In the end, she still does become a medicine cat AFTER spending a long time trying to make ways to make hunting and fighting comfortable. After being clipped by a car, a cats leg usually gets shattered. Trying to scrunch it up so the toes don't drag on the ground is painful, and in battle it would've been a target. She values her training and time learning to do things from Deadfoot, but decides to become a medicine cat on her own.
She enjoys being a medicine cat, and doesn't feel lesser. She also does NOT get the reincarnation arc, instead shes just Cinderhearts guide like Spottedleaf was to Fireheart, minus any creepy stuff. She loved her life as a med cat, and doesnt think her accident made her lose her life.
Similarly, Briarlights accident still happens. Brackenfur helps her figure out stretches, because he helped Cinderpelt with them for her leg. Briarlight becomes a camp guard, though, and has survivors guilt above all else for surviving what Longtail didnt.
Most of the other cats like Jayfeather and Snowkit are up in the air. Right now I don't have a set plan for Princesses kits yet, so Im not sure what I'll go about doing for that and how the three are going to work.

Because people showed some interest in seeing a full list of male to female cats in power on my last post, I've compiled a full list! Here it is:
Male Clan Leaders: Thunderstar, Skystar, Riverstar, Redstar, Swiftstar, Cloudstar, Pinestar, Cedarstar, Hailstar, Sunstar, Raggedstar, Tallstar, Crookedstar, Brokenstar, Nightstar, Tigerstar (OG), Firestar, Blackstar, Onestar, Bramblestar, Rowanstar, Harestar, Tigerstar (New), Owlstar, Whitestar, Finchstar, Lionstar, Vinestar, Morningstar, Oakstar, Ravenpelt, Blizzardstar, Snowstar, Ripplestar, Marshscar, Sedgestar, Houndstar, Gorsestar, Duststar, Stonestar, Hazelstar, Dovestar, Rabbitstar, Emberstar, Troutstar, Reedstar, Talonstar, Volestar, Beechstar, Mothpelt, Hawkstar, Rowanstar (SkyClan), Flystar, Spiderstar, Buzzardstar. In total 55.
Female Clan Leaders: Windstar, Shadowstar, Dawnstar, Heatherstar, Bluestar, Leopardstar, Leafstar, Mistystar, Doestar, Hollystar, Brindlestar, Lilystar, Brightwhisker, Flowerstar, Featherstar, Darkstar, Ivystar, Birchstar, Maplestar. In total 19.
Male Deputies: Lightningtail, Sunfall, Tawnyspots, Redtail, Lionheart, Tigerclaw, Fireheart, Whitestorm, Graystripe, Brambleclaw, Gorsefur, Reedfeather, Talltail, Deadfoot, Mudclaw, Onewhisker, Harespring, Crowfeather, Shellheart, Crookedjaw, Timberfur, Oakheart, Stonefur, Reedwhisker, Stonetooth, Raggedpelt, Cloudpelt, Brokentail, Blackfoot, Cinderfur, Rowanclaw, Crowfrost, Tigerheart, Juniperclaw, Sharpclaw, Waspwhisker, Hawkwing, Owleyes, Vinetail, Beetail, Pineheart, Mumblefoot, Stonetail, Mudpuddle, Pebblefur, Acorntail, Milkfur, Gorsefoot, Hailstep, Ravenpelt, Sunshadow, Lakestorm, Marshscar, Silvermask, Snaketail, Cedarpelt, Cloudstorm, Buzzardtail. 58 in total.
Female Deputies: Bluefur, Squirrelflight, Ashfoot, Leopardfur, Mistyfoot, Foxheart, Russetfur, Tawnypelt, Cloverfoot, Honeyleaf, Daisyheart, Greeneyes, Leafstorm, Seedpelt, Doefeather, Night, Sloefur, Sunnytail, Brightwhisker, Sparrowfur, Maplewhisker, Raincloud, Petalfall. 23 in total.
Overall, 113 Male cats have held positions of power, compared to 42 female cats. While that is slightly better than the 3:1 difference from before, it is only just barely so.
At the risk of making accusations, though, it seems that the authors are more likely to throw in a female deputy in one of the ancient short stories from Code of the Clans, because they don't have to be developed or appear for more than one scene.
Another interesting thing to point out... Cats that have been shown to have children before or during their positions of power.
Male cats: Hailstar, Deadfoot, Crowfeather, Onestar, Pinestar, Redtail, Lionheart, Tigerstar (OG), Firestar, Whitestorm, Graystripe, Bramblestar, Gorsefur, Reedfeather, Shellheart, Crookedstar, Oakheart, Timberfur, Raggedstar, Rowanstar, Crowfrost, Tigerstar (New), Sharpclaw, Waspwhisker, Hawkwing. 25 male cats.
Female cats: Bluestar, Leafstar, Squirrelflight, Mistystar, Tawnypelt, Ashfoot. 6 female cats.
Even with the 3:1 disparity of male cats in power to female cats in power, this is very skewed. This stat gives an almost 5:1 disparity of male cats in power with children to female cats in power with children. And I almost don't want to count Bluestar among the female cats because the whole point was that she gave up her family to earn her position of power.
In the warriors world, motherhood and leadership are portrayed as highly incompatible, but fatherhood and leadership are not. And it doesn't just apply to cats that have kits while in power. Any cat that has ever been a mother is automatically like... darkmarked against being given deputyship or leadership. This plays into the hurtful and misogynistic concept that being a mother and being a career woman cannot go hand in hand. We already see this in the real world, we don't need it in our children's book series as well.
Let moms be leaders!

Warriors Rewrite Pt 0: Allegiances
So! Some of you may know Ive started rereading the first arc of warriors. As a result, I've been inspired to come up with my own version of a rewrite. I'm gonna make about 7+ posts of notes about things I'd change throughout the entirety of The Prophecies Begin.
To start off, let's talk about our cast
Leader: Bluestar (Apprentice: Sandpaw)
Blue-gray she-cat with a darker face, tail, and legs, and blue eyes. Basically she's a blue Burmese
She teaches Sandpaw instead of Firepaw because then it'd make sense when Graypaw says Bluestar only trains the deputy's kits. Not to mention I think Bluestar would be good at taming Sandpaw's attitude
Like in canon she gave up her kits. The way it happened was a bit different though. To look more convincing, Bluefur had Oakheart scratch her shoulder to make it look like she'd gone to fight the fox for her kits. Bringing home one of her kits half frozen made her story more believable
Deputy: Redtail (Apprentice: Dustpaw)
Small, mostly black tortoishell tom with a plumy dark ginger tail and green eyes
He lives! Or at least longer than he's supposed to. Probably til up about the time Lionheart dies in canon
He's mates with Runningwind. Sandpaw is their adopted daughter (we need more adoption positivity, plus her having no relation to the clan makes for a cleaner bloodline)
Medicine cat: Spottedleaf
Beautiful spotted torbie she-cat with a white chest, underbelly, and paws and amber eyes
She's not having a love affair with Firepaw/Fireheart in this. Also she's going to live slightly longer cause even tho Im not a fan of hers I want to change that
Warriors:
Lionheart (Apprentice: Graypaw)
Large longhaired golden tabby tom with a broad head, broad shoulders and amber eyes
Instead of dying during the raid Shadowclan leads on Thunderclan camp, he dies when the clan goes to chase out Brokenstar
Tigerclaw
Broad shouldered dark brown tabby tom with a scar across his muzzle and amber eyes
Whitestorm
White tom with a plumy blue-gray tail and yellow eyes
Bluestar raised him alongside Mosskit. So he sees her as his mom figure. He even calls her mom. He still loves Snowfur and sees her as his mother, but Bluestar was there for more of his life so he sees her as a mother too
Following that point, he sees Mosscloud as his sister. He also kind of sees Tigerclaw as a brother but doesn't have as strong of a bond with him as he does with Mosscloud
Mosscloud (Apprentice: Ravenpaw)
White she-cat with lilac patches and blue eyes
It's Mosskit!! She survived
Let me explain how: Bluefur snuck her kits out to bring to Riverclan (as she did in canon). But when she noticed Mosskit was falling behind and growing weak she panicked. She realized her daughter wasn't strong enough to make the journey, not like her littermates. So Bluefur tucked them away under a warm tree root and fetched Oakheart. Oakheart took Mistykit and Stonekit with him, and Bluefur carried Mosskit back to camp. It made her fox kitnapping story more believeable
Mosscloud doesn't really remember what happened that night anyways. If asked she'll say she remembers being cold and out of camp in the snow, and then next thing she knew Bluefur had carried her home. She believes Bluestar's story and believes her littermates are dead
She's really close with her dad, Thrushpelt. During free time she can often be found sharing tongues or having a meal with him
When she is busy, however, she's putting her focus on Ravenpaw. Mosscloud is an incredibly patient cat and wants to draw Ravenpaw out of his shell. She knows he has the potential to be a great warrior
Darkstripe
Black smoke classic tabby tom with a broad face and amber eyes. Like mama Willowpelt he looks like a British Shorthair
Longtail (Apprentice: Firepaw)
Lithe cinnamon silver classic tabby tom with a long tail and blue eyes
He was named a warrior 2 moons before Rusty came to Thunderclan
He was assigned to train Firepaw since he was so keen on testing the tom as soon as he stepped paw in camp (I'll go more in dept on this later)
Runningwind
What does "swift tabby tom" mean @ The Erins???
Here he's a fawn classic tabby tom with yellow-green eyes
He found Sandpaw at the edge of the territory when she was about a halfmoon-moon old kit and immediately brought her home to Thunderclan. She smelled of Windclan and he guessed a queen in the clan had abandoned her
Mousefur
Chocolate ticked tabby she-cat with amber eyes
She's pretty popular among the clan
She's around Longtail's age. They'd been named warriors together
Apprentices:
Sandpaw
Lithe dilute ginger classic tabby she-cat with green eyes
She doesn't know she was adopted from outside of Thunderclan. Nobody wants to tell her and frankly nobody really cares. She has clan blood, that's what's important. Plus she's strong, both physically and in wills
She's the oldest apprentice at approximately 9 and a half-10 moons
Dustpaw
Chocolate smoke tabby tom with amber eyes
He's kinda lean, like his brother. By the way Ravenpaw is his brother
He is 9 moons old at the beginning of Into the Wild
Ravenpaw
Small lithe black tom with a white chest locket, white tail-tip, and purple eyes ((this is my rewrite and I say purple-eyed ravenpaw rights.))
Like his brother he is 9 moons old
Ravenpaw is very grateful for his mentor. At first he feared he'd be given to a cat like Tigerclaw. But when he was given to Mosscloud, he calmed down, if only slightly. He appreciates her kind words and encouragement, and he responds well when she pushes him to do better. He wants to make Mosscloud proud
Graypaw
Longhaired gray tom with yellow eyes, a broad head, and a darker gray stripe from his forehead to his tail-tip. He looks like a British Longhair
He is 6 moons old at the start of Into the Wild, just like in canon. In fact, he'd been named an apprentice the sunhigh before he met Rusty.
He is still Willowpelt's son, despite having siblings who are two moons younger than him. Willowpelt became pregnant again not long after Graykit had been born.
Firepaw
Tom, handsome sorrel Abyssinian mix with green eyes. He's just...really orange
He's plump when he first comes to Thunderclan. Actually he remains kinda chubby
He's 6 moons at the start of Into the Wild
Queens:
Frostfur
Dilute tortoishell point siamese she-cat with a plumy tail and blue eyes
Obviously, her mate is Lionheart. They're the kinda couple who's really mushy and lovey
Her kits are Brackenkit, Swiftkit, and Snowkit
Willowpelt
Silver shaded white she-cat with a broad head and rich blue eyes ("rich" as in super blue. Like deep ocean blue). She looks like a British Shorthair
I decided to make her a queen early. I really like Willowpelt and I think she'd be good as a queen longer
Her mate is Whitestorm
Her kits are Cinderkit and Mistlekit
Before her current kits, Willowpelt had had 2 seperate litters before. Her first born is Darkstripe, who had siblings who had died young. He has an unknown father, but its suspected that he's half Shadowclan. Willowpelt's next litter consisted of one kit: Graypaw, who is also suspected to be half Shadowclan, but by a different tom.
Cinderkit and Mistlekit were born two moons after Graypaw was. This is because Willowpelt had had an out of clan affair, and while expecting a litter, fell in love with Whitestorm. When she was able to, she and Whitestorm mated and it resulted in kits a little sooner than either had expected. Yes this is a real thing that can happen, female cats can get pregnant again anywhere from 1-8 weeks after kitting.
Brindleface
Silver-gray spotted tabby she-cat with yellow-green eyes (I know what Brindle means but I've always headcanoned her to look like this)
She's expecting kits. Nobody knows who the father is though
Goldenflower
Pretty longhaired golden she-cat with broad shoulders, a broad head, and green eyes
She's incredibly fluffy. Even moreso than her brother
Her kits are Brightkit and Thornkit
Nobody knows who the father of her kits are, and she's going to keep it that way
Speckletail
Chocolate tortoishell she-cat
She doesn't have any kits as she is too old. She's just a permanent queen who likes helping newer mothers and kitsitting. She probably won't ever retire.
Kits:
Cinderkit
Blue-gray she-cat with a broad face and blue eyes
She's almost old enough to become an apprentice
Brackenkit
Golden-brown tabby tom with amber eyes
Brackenkit and his littermates are about a moon younger than Willowpelt's kits
Brightkit
Long haired white and ginger patched she-cat with green eyes
She's about a moon old
Thornkit
Longhaired golden tabby tom with orange eyes
Like his sister, he's a moon old
Swiftkit
White and black patched tom with heterochromatic eyes (one yellow and one blue)
Snowkit
Mostly pure white tom with blue eyes and a small patch of gray on the bridge of his nose. He is 100% deaf
I'm keeping this precious baby alive, you'll have to pry him out of my cold dead hands
Mistlekit
Silver shaded white she-cat with a plumy tail and yellow eyes
In canon she's Snowkit's littermate (who the Erins completely forgot about) soo I've revamped her and turned her into Cinderkit's littermate.
Like her sister she's about ready to become an apprentice
Elders:
Halftail
Dark brown tabby tom with a nubby torn off tail
Smallear
Gray tom with small folded ears
Patchpelt
Small black and white patched tom
One-eye
Pale gray she-cat, oldest cat in Thunderclan
Dappletail
Once pretty tortoishell she-cat
Thrushpelt
Lilac classic tabby tom with yellow eyes
He's still in love woth Bluefur but as always it's pretty one sided.
He adores Mosscloud with all his heart as if she were his own kit. As far as he and the clan's concerned, she is his kit. He's so happy he got to be involved in raising at least one of Bluestar's litter
Rosetail
Dilute mostly gray tortoishell with a pale ginger tail, and a white underbelly and paws
She retired early when Thistleclaw died
One day Bluestar explained to her how terrible her brother was, and even though she knows and understands, she still misses him
Cats outside the clan:
Smudge
Tom, Harliquine purebred Japanese Bobtail. Aka he's white and black patched and has a cute nubby tail
He has a little red bowtie collar
Yellowfang
Longhaired, flat faced, dark gray she-cat with a ragged scarred pelt, a yellow snaggle tooth, and orange eyes
Her name is actually Smokefang, but when she's exiled from Shadowclan she changes it.
Cats used to call her yellow-fang as an insult to her hygiene, so she took it on as her identity cause she's that bitch
Jake
Tom, purebred sorrel Abyssinian with amber eyes and a rainbow collar
Why do his owners let him roam around??? They probably don't know he's a pedigree purebred tbh
Nutmeg
Ginger and white tabby she-cat with green eyes
Princess
She-cat, ruddy and white Abyssinian mix with amber eyes and a pink collar
Barley
Black and white tom with yellow eyes and a red bandanna around his neck
Probably has a southern accent
Scourge
Tom, small all black Abyssinian mix with one white paw, ice blue eyes, a tooth studded collar, and dog teeth reinforced claws
Gotta talk about my boi if we're talking about a rewrite. He's probably got a genetic condition through Quince that makes him so damn small. Not to mention he's a runt
His collar is purple cause I make the rules here. And the very front has a bird skull because that's edgy and its a nod to flightfootwarrior/aka @ corvidkatana's old scourge design which I'm incredibly fond of
Also he has a hard time talking and walking. His collar's kinda tight on him now and it hurts to talk. His usual silence comes out more intimidating anyways. As for the difficulty walking thats due to his claws.

20 Warriors Questions!
1.  How did you get into Warriors?
Well, if I’m being honest, my sister started reading them first.  She checked the first book out of our school library and convinced me to read it.  I think I was in fifth or sixth grade at the time.  Yeah, it was fifth grade, because I was in sixth grade when The Last Hope came out.  More specifically, it was the summer after sixth grade.  So, yeah, you can thank my sister, @pipatyp, for introducing me to the series.
2.  Favorite arc?
Ooh, boy.  That’s tough one, especially since I’m not a hundred percent caught up.  I haven’t finished Dawn of the Clans yet, but that’s due to my two-year absence from reading the series.  I have a lot of catching up to do.  Anyway, as far as favorite arc goes, I’m going to have to say my personal favorite is either Power of Three or The New Prophecy.  I love Power of Three because I love it when there’s a sibling dynamic between major characters, especially if those characters all have their own internal conflicts.  The New Prophecy has a similar situation, but it also sets up some stuff that pays off in later books along with having my boy Firestar being a shotgun dad for five chapters in Midnight.
3.  Favorite book (excluding Super Editions, Manga, and Novellas)?
Agh!  Like I said, I’m not caught up right now, so that makes this a hard question to answer.  I guess I’d have to say my favorite book is probably... well, Twilight.  I can’t help it; despite my utter hatred of the title (I blame edgy teen vampire romance), it’s a pretty solid entry into The New Prophecy arc.  Leafpool and Crowfeather’s whirlwind romance is actually pretty believable, while Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw’s arguing is by far the most realistic thing about these books.
4.  Favorite Super Edition, Novella, or Manga?
This is another one that’s tough to answer.  I haven’t read all the Super Editions or novellas yet, but I’ve read every volume of manga the series has produced thus far.  In this category, I’d have to say my favorite is probably either Goosefeather’s Curse, Crookedstar’s Promise, or The Rise of Scourge.  Whoa, hey!  I got one of each.  Cool!  Anyway, I love Goosefeather’s Curse because Goosefeather is one of my favorite characters in the series, and it’s kind of a dive into who he is before he gets bees in his brain and becomes the laughingstock of ThunderClan.  Crookedstar’s Promise was the first Super Edition I read after Bluestar’s Prophecy, shortly after I finished The Prophecies Begin.  It was also the first book to get me emotionally invested in the series.  Yes, I cried.  Deal with it.  As for The Rise of Scourge, I’ve always been a fan of villains with backstories to back them up, and this solidified Scourge in my mind as the perfect villain for Firestar to face.  They have similar backgrounds, but not as similar as a lot of people seem to think.  This is also the only book to even hint at the blood connection between them, so there’s that.
5.  Favorite Clan?
Okay, this one’s actually easy.  My favorite is RiverClan, plain and simple.  Despite the fact that they appear to the Clan least able to keep their genes in their own Clan (Appledusk, Oakheart, and Silverstream, just to name a few), they are also the only ones that can swim.  I don’t know if you’ve ever seen a cat swim, but it’s adorable.  And I’m not saying the others can’t swim, they just won’t.  RiverClan rules the water.  Also, they eat fish, which makes their coats healthier than the other clans.  Cool.
6.  Favorite character?
Ooh, boy.  Here’s a stunningly broad category that’s difficult to answer.  There are so many characters in this series that it’s honestly hard to pick favorites.  Personally, mine is either Squirrelflight, Sandstorm, or the ball of sass and salt known as Ivypool.  Squirrelflight (at least in The New Prophecy) was a ball of energy and cunning remarks, which made her all the more fun to read about.  It honestly sucks we never got to hear any of the arc from her perspective, but we can guess a lot of her thoughts based on her actions.  Sandstorm is incredibly patient and a damn good mom.  She stands by her daughters after their lives basically get torn to shreds because of Hollyleaf and she’s also the one who reassures Firestar that Cloudtail would make a good warrior.  As for Ivypool, her struggles living in the shadow of her sibling are pretty relatable, and you just want to see her succeed.  She’s also a five-star badass once she turns on the Dark Forest, so there’s that.
7.  Least favorite character?
Hands-down, it’s either Darkstripe, Sleekwhisker, or... Spottedleaf.  And I can hear the anger now, but let me point some things out.  Darkstripe is an annoying little fanboy with a tom-crush the size of Texas on Tigerstar.  Nobody really likes Darkstripe in this fandom, though.  Sleekwhisker is a goddamn bitch as well as a matricidal murderer (she did help drown her own mother).  As for Spottedleaf, I can’t say that she’s a good character.  Her only role in most of the books she appears in is to act as a guide for Firestar or Leafpool, or in Firestar’s case, a massive roadblock in his relationship with Sandstorm.  She has little to no actual personality beyond ‘medicine cat and Firestar’s first love’ and, despite Spottedleaf’s Heart, I can’t say that I like her backstory.  As somebody who’s going into the field of education, it made me very uncomfortable and I worry for any younger kids who maybe pick up this book.
8.   Most Aesthetically Pleasing Cat?
Ivypool.  I like silver and white cats.  I think they’re really pretty.  Also, I have this image in my head of Ivypool being this pretty teenage girl who’s super skinny and looks really weak, but then she slams a fully-grown Hawkfrost into the mud with little effort.  Yeah, I don’t care how the cats look.
9.  Favorite leader?
Leafstar.  Weird choice, I know, but she’s had to deal with things no other leader has really dealt with:  the invading rats, her clan having a number of kittypets as part-time warriors due to low numbers, being pregnant and still trying to lead her Clan, and helping to rebuild the Clan from the ground up.  Not to mention, she’s still leader when SkyClan moves to the lake territories.  She’s one badass Miss Mama Cat.
10.  Favorite villain?
Mapleshade.  Like I said, I love backstories for villains, and Mapleshade’s is even more compelling and tragic than that of Scourge.  She really got screwed over by first Ravenwing, then all of ThunderClan, then Frecklewish, and the list just goes on and on.  And, the funny thing is, when you think about it, she never would’ve become a villain if Ravenwing had kept his damn medicine cat mouth shut.  Maybe then he wouldn’t have ended up murdered at the Moonstone and his body wouldn’t have been eaten by a hawk.
11.  Favorite Medicine cat?
Either Goosefeather or Jayfeather.  They’re both fun characters who have a certain amount of bones to pick with StarClan for screwing them over.  In Goosefeather’s case, it’s because of his powers and the fact that he went kind of crazy towards the end of his life.  Jayfeather is just mad for them making him blind and forcing him to be a medicine cat.  The boy wanted to be a warrior, so let him be a warrior!  Then again, the love of his life has been dead for over eight decades, so... yeah.
12.  Overrated character?
I’d have to say probably... *sighs* Crowfeather.  Despite me loving his whirlwind romance with Leafpool, he gets a little too much love from the fandom.  And no, I have not read Crowfeather’s Trial yet.  Like I said, I’m behind.  Anyway, he’s not really a good father to Breezepelt, which is painfully obvious in the way that they interact.  He was going to abandon his Clan for the sake of breaking two codes with Leafpool.  And, on top of that, he barely acknowledges the fact that he fathered Hollyleaf, Lionblaze, and Jayfeather.  He’s not a bad character, but he doesn’t deserve all the love he gets from the fans.
13.  Underrated character?
Briarlight.  This girl survived a freaking tree falling on her and breaking her spine, which paralyzed her from the waist down, and she still maintains a happy attitude.  Despite the fact that Jayfeather doesn’t make her a full medicine cat (she can’t exactly collect herbs or go to the Moonpool, can she?), she’s more than happy to assist the medicine cats that ThunderClan has by soaking dried-up herbs, handling patients who come in the early morning, and just generally improving the usually sour mood that’s in the medicine cat den.
14.  Favorite minor character?
Hm.  This one’s kind of tough.  I’d have to say Purdy.  He was never an official warrior of ThunderClan, but he was a big help when it came to lightening the mood in the elders’ den.  Purdy always had a story to tell or some sort of wisdom to pass on, not to mention the fact that he told those stories whether you wanted to hear them or not.  Kit, medicine cat, warrior, apprentice, leader, deputy--he didn’t care.  All you had to do was listen and he’d go on until you actively told him to stop.  And he’s funny.
15.  Favorite pairing?
Firestar and Sandstorm, hands down.  I know a lot of people don’t like it because Firestar still had a thing for Spottedleaf, but to me, a good pairing is all about balance.  Shipping two people with the same personality doesn’t work.  It’s why you so often see an optimist getting shipped with a pessimist.  Anyway, they balance each other out because Firestar is an idealist and Sandstorm is a realist.  Not only that, but they’re supportive of each other, and they stick by each other through thick and thin.  They became mates in The Darkest Hour and remain mates once they’re in StarClan.  The only regret they have about their relationship is the fact that they didn’t have more kits!  That’s a good and healthily-built relationship to me.
16.  Least favorite pairing?
Tigerheart and Dovewing.  It’s not because they’re from different Clans, either.  I don’t feel like there’s really balance in their relationship.  They always seem to be arguing about something, and if they’re not doing that, they’re avoiding each other because their relationship is ‘against the warrior code’.  Yeah, we all know that one part of the code has been broken so many times it might as well not exist anymore.  Their personalities, if you ask me, are a little too similar for this relationship to work.
17.  Favorite friendship?
Sorreltail and Leafpool, surprisingly enough.  It stood the test of time and Leafpool’s biggest secret being spilled, forcing her to give up her position as a medicine cat.  Sorreltail keeps thinking of Leafpool as the friend she knew back before everything went paws-up, and that line of thinking is on display in The Forgotten Warrior when she specifically cries out for Leafpool’s help while kitting.  I have no doubt that they’ll be reunited in StarClan and hunt side-by-side.
18.  Favorite moment?
I think my favorite moment so far in the entire series is when Yellowfang is first teaching Cinderpelt about herbs, and she snaps at Fireheart for upsetting her assistant.  It kind of reveals that Yellowfang thinks of Cinderpelt as a replacement for her two daughters who never really got a chance to live in the world that killed them.  And most likely, it was the daughter who died because Brokenkit poked her with his paw and it was too much for her body.  Seriously, that’s tragically funny.
19.  Most tragic death?
I’m going to have to go with a rather shocking answer and say the drowning of Mapleshade’s kits.  This is a moment that sets a lot of the series in motion, since it was the aftermath of her kits’ deaths that sends Mapleshade down a dark path.  After she dies and swears revenge on the descendants of those who wronged her, she gets into the minds of many of the most ‘evil’ cats we see in the series:  Tigerstar, Brokenstar, and Thistleclaw, just to name a few.  She also messes with the minds of good cats, like Crookedstar, making them feel like everything is their fault.  I have no doubt she’s the true villain of the series, but all the death and destruction that is brought to the clans from within--so much of it can be linked back to Mapleshade and her toxic teachings in the Dark Forest.  And her toxic teachings can be linked back to the deaths of her kits.  Patchkit, Petalkit, and Larchkit drowning was the event that set off a chain reaction that killed so many Clan cats, and it’s tragedy stemming from tragedy.
20.  Favorite battle/fight scene?
And, after four days of filling out these questions, reading A Vision of Shadows, and thinking through my answers, I have reached the final question.  I’m not a person who typically enjoys battle scenes, but I’d have to say my favorite is the SkyClan battle against the rats in Firestar’s Quest.  It’s intriguing for a number of reasons, the least of which being that there’s a rat who understands and speaks cat!  The rats are an unusual enemy because they’re essentially a hivemind--the only one that’s been fought so far in the series.  Hivemind fights are fascinating because once you take out the big brain, the rest scatter.  That’s exactly what we see!  As soon as Firestar takes out the lead rat, the Clan has won the battle and secured SkyClan’s place in the gorge.  And thanks to that, we eventually get Violetshine and Twigbranch (we are never letting Bramblestar live that name down, I swear to God).
So, that’s my 20 Warriors Questions.  Now I challenge my sister, @pipatyp, to answer the twenty.  I look forward to seeing her answers!
