WIP Wednesday 🚧
I am working on a sequel to @bekkachaos ’s An Oasis in the Stars – if you haven’t read it, you should rectify that immediately, it’s fucking brilliant. It’s my first Malex AU and it’s set in a semi-dystopian world with a little bit of space stuff but that’s mostly over now that they are back to Earth. It’s been a lot of fun so far even though I’ve only written like 4K.
Day 2 – Asteria Space Station (International Space Agency Conference Room 3)
“Captain,” Flight Director Maria DeLuca addressed him, standing on the other side of the table with her hands clasped behind her and a stern expression on her face. He hadn’t seen her since they left, but she looked like she aged more than just the few years they’d been gone–things in Mission Control may not have been so great during their absence. “I trust you were treated well yesterday.”
Honey first, sting later. None of the duties in the Flight Director’s job description included interrogation tactics, so he assumed the military had given her a crash course. “Can’t complain, Flight.” He nearly linked his fingers behind his head, but figured that was a little too showy, even for this farce.
“Please, Alex, call me Maria. We’re no longer on mission.” Her face softened ever so slightly, but he could still see the tightness behind her eyes.
“With all due respect to you as a commanding officer, Flight, this is an interrogation,” Alex put both of his hands on the table and leaned forward, “which definitely makes it part of the official mission. There’s certainly no need to break protocol.”
“This is not an interrogation, Manes.”
“Ma’am,” Alex said, unable to keep the edge of sarcasm from his voice now, “I borrowed a multi-billion dollar space shuttle. Let’s just call a spade a spade.”
“Okay, Captain Manes, we’ll have it your way.” She finally sat down at the conference table across from him. “Do you care to explain why you bypassed ISA protocol and landed the Roswell on Earth rather than docking with Asteria upon your return from mission?”
Alex had to bite back his first response, which was a hearty ‘no thanks, now can I go?’ because despite being tired of their bullshit, he did need to tread carefully with how he approached this if he wanted to keep everyone safe–not just Michael and his family, but his own crew too. He didn’t want any of this to blow back on Kyle or Liz, which meant he had to make it entirely believable that this was a decision he had enacted on his own.
“Flight,” he started carefully, “when we re-established contact on our way back to Earth, shouldn’t the Ortechos have been relocated back to Asteria per Liz Ortecho’s contract with the ISA for this mission?”
The Director looked confused by the response. “I’m not in charge of green passes, Captain, nor am I privy to the finer details of the contracts your crew signed. What does this have to do with the question I asked?”
“Everything, frankly.”

HEART RACING
Warnings: 8k+ words, bad writing, kissing, relationship started from a bet, slightly ooc vada (idk?) reader has she/her pronouns, ur best friends is kinda a dick ig
A/N: this was highly inspired by shes all that + i'm still kinda on my break, sorry if it seems like im ignoring asks
Summary: You take on a bet from your best friend, but what happens when you start regretting your decision.
Tumblr media
"I'm so excited." Jordan, your childhood best friend says, smiling at you. You narrow your eyes at the brunette boy, adjusting your bookbag strap that was slipping off your shoulder. "I wonder what dish your mom is going to make this time." He adds on, that goofy smile of his never leaves his face.
"Yeah." You mumble, trying to hide your nerves about the upcoming break. "Yeah, I hope it's something delicious," you reply, forcing a smile. Jordan reads you like a book, tilting his head before letting out a soft laugh.
"Don't tell me you're worried about your parents bothering you about having a girlfriend." You shake your head, furrowing your eyebrows, as your eyes stay attached to the trail in front of you.
"It's just... this happens every holiday! Oh, Y/N, where's your girlfriend? Oh, Y/N! Who's the lucky girl?" You mock your parents before letting out a sigh and stopping your walk to face Jordan.
"Why can't I just be single and enjoy my high school experience without constantly being questioned about my love life?" you vent, frustration evident in your voice. Jordan raises an eyebrow, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "To be fair, you haven't brought a girl home since freshman year. And you're now a senior. Did you see how happy they were?"
You roll your eyes at Jordan, "What about Ana? I brought her home." Jordan chuckles, shaking his head. "Ana doesn't count. You faked a relationship, and your parents read right through it. They know you too well."
You sigh, memories of that awkward dinner with Ana and your parents flooding back. "Yeah, that was a disaster. I guess I just wanted to avoid the constant interrogation for a while."  Jordan smirks. "Maybe it's time you actually find someone worth bringing home."
"Yeah, sure. It wouldn't be hard to, I just need someone to be able to play the part. My parents do not care who I date whatsoever, just as long as I'm dating them." You tell him, scratching your eyebrow.
Jordan raises an eyebrow, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "You wanna bet on it?" You raise an eyebrow in response, curious about what Jordan has in mind. "What kind of bet are we talking about here?"
"I pick the girl, and you have to bring her home to meet your parents on Christmas," Jordan says, a smirk playing on his lips. "And if you succeed, I'll do your math homework for the rest of the year."
You eye Jordan before holding out your hand. "Deal." Jordan's smile widens as he shakes your hand. "Let's go find your lover."  You laugh, following Jordan as the two of you start scanning the school for potential candidates.
"What about her?" You ask Jordan, nodding your head in the direction of a girl blowing bubbles. Jordan glances over at the girl blowing bubbles and raises an eyebrow. "Hmm, she seems carefree and fun-loving. Definitely a possibility," he teases. "But no!"
You continue searching, your eyes landing on a girl sitting alone in the library, engrossed in a book. "What about her?" you suggest to Jordan, pointing her out. Jordan observes her for a moment before responding, "Too boring."
"Ohhh, maybe her!" Jordan laughs loudly, pointing at a girl picking out her wedgie. You chuckle at Jordan's suggestion, but quickly shake your head. "I don't think so," you say, trying to stifle your laughter. "Let's keep looking."
"Hey! I'm the one picking here. I have the go-to." You shake your head. "Then pick."
Just as you say that a girl trips on her own shoelaces and stumbles forward, nearly falling face-first, Jordan bursts into laughter. "I think we have a winner!" You look over at the girl, who searches around to see if anyone has seen her embarrassing moment. She quickly regains her composure and brushes off the incident, pretending like nothing happened.
"Vada Cavell?" You yell at Jordan, "You've gotta be joking, man." Jordan chuckles and shrugs. "Hey, you said to pick. And she definitely caught my attention with that little stumble." You roll your eyes, not convinced that this is the best choice for your fake partner.
"Look. Ugly, bad personality, a bit on the smelly side, I can handle." You glance back at Vada, sighing.
"But I draw the line at someone who can't even walk without tripping over their own feet," you say, exasperated. Jordan laughs again, defending his choice. "A bet is a bet!" You open your mouth to argue again, but Jordan beats you.
"Hey, if I were you, I wouldn't be wasting my time. Because according to my calculations, you only have about four weeks to turn her into your perfect fake partner before Christmas. And if Vada Cavell is going to be that somebody, you've pretty much got your work cut off for you. "
You sigh and reluctantly agree, knowing that you can't back out of the bet now. You walk over to Vada Cavell, who is sitting with a blonde-haired girl at a table, engrossed in her phone.
"Hi, Vada. You got a second?" You ask, trying to sound casual as you approach her. Vada looks up from her phone with a hint of curiosity in her eyes. Mia, the blonde-haired girl, drops her jaw at the sight of you. You send her a small smile.
"Hi, Mia. I saw your soccer video on Instagram. "It was really impressive," you compliment, trying to make small talk. Vada raises an eyebrow, while Mia blushes. "You watch my videos?"
"You don't play soccer." Vada states matter-of-factly, glaring at her best friend. Mia looks sheepish, realizing your mistake. "Oh, sorry." You tell Mia who quickly brushes off the comment with a dismissive wave.
"So, Vada, listen," you begin, trying to redirect the conversation. "I was wondering maybe if you wanna..." Vada quickly stands up, interrupting you. "Let's go, Mia."
Mia gives you an apologetic smile before following Vada, leaving you feeling slightly embarrassed and rejected. You sigh, realizing that your attempt to ask Vada out didn't go as planned. "...embarrass me horribly in front of all these people?" You finish trailing off to yourself. You look back at Jordan, who's bending over, trying to stop himself from laughing so hard.
With a tight-lipped smile, you send him the finger, knowing that he's enjoying your embarrassment a little too much.
-
This was a bet, and you needed to win it. It wasn't like you were failing any of your classes, but you were tired of all the math homework Mr. Smith kept assigning. Plus, you'd love to see the defeated look on Jordan's face after Vada, and you successfully convinced your parents you found yourself a girlfriend.
In order to win this bet, you had to text Mia through Instagram direct messages and ask her where you could find Vada after school. Mia sent you a screenshot of Vada's Find My Phone, showing her location in a downtown park. You knew this was your chance to prove Jordan wrong and finally have some peace from Mr. Smith's math assignments.
Vada's eyes widen as she sees you walking closer to her, regardless, you send her your charming smile, which she doesn't reciprocate. "You know stalking is illegal in all 50 states, right?" Vada says, her voice laced with caution.
You quickly assure her that you were just trying to find her so you could talk. "I apologize if it seemed like stalking, but I genuinely wanted to have a conversation with you," you explain, hoping to ease her concerns.
"I'm not smart." Vada admits her eyes never leave yours. "What?" You breathe out a laugh, confused. "What? You think that I can tutor you or something?" Vada continues, a hint of vulnerability in her voice. "You're probably thinking, Oh, there's Vada, she dresses like a hippie—"
"Vada."
"—Barely has any friends."
"Vada."
"—She must at least be smart." You cut her off gently, placing a hand on her arm. "Vada, I have the fourth highest GPA in our grade." Vada looks at you with surprise evident in her eyes. "Really?" she asks, her voice filled with disbelief.
"Yes, really," you reply reassuringly. "It's true." You slightly jump at the sudden voice. Turning around, you see Vada's other best friend, Nick, sitting a few feet away.
"So what do you want? Is this some sort of dork outreach program?" Vada asks, rolling her eyes. "No, Vada," you say calmly, trying to hide your frustration. "I just wanted to hang out."
Vada raises an eyebrow, skeptical of your intentions. "Just hang out? With us?" she questions, her tone still laced with doubt. You nod, hoping to convince her that you genuinely want to enjoy their company. "Yeah, I thought it would be fun to get to know some new people," you explain, hoping she'll give you a chance.
"Sure, me and Vada were about to go to this stand-up comedy club. You can have my ticket if you want." Nick shrugs, ignoring the confused glare from his best friend.
Vada looks at Nick in surprise, clearly not expecting him to offer his ticket. "Really? You're giving up your ticket for her?" she asks, very confused. Nick shrugs again, flashing a grin while he holds out his ticket for you.
You take the ticket with a grateful smile, "Thank you, Nick. Are you sure? I could just buy my own if you want to go too." Nick shakes his head, "Nah, I've gotta go study for my presentation anyway." His phone chimes right after, and he quickly checks it, confirming his need to leave.
"Well, have fun at the club! Let me know how it goes," he says before hurriedly walking away. You watch him go, feeling a mix of gratitude and curiosity about why he would give up his ticket for you.
You send Vada a smile, "I guess I'm your plus one tonight." Vada narrows her eyes at you, still confused about why you, one of the most popular students in school, is so fascinated with her. "I'm still confused about why you're putting on this act. Are you trying to impress someone, or is there another reason behind it?"
You furrow your eyebrows, letting out a small laugh. "Are you always this skeptical? I assure you, there's no ulterior motive. I simply wanted to enjoy your company and spend the evening with you." Vada's expression softens slightly, but she still seems hesitant.
"Well, we should get going." Vada mumbles, brushing a small strand of hair behind her ear.
You follow Vada down the slightly busy streets, neon lights illuminating the sidewalks as people bustle by. You can't help but notice Vada's occasional glances in your direction, her guarded demeanor slowly melting away.
"I like your jewelry." It's unique and really suits your style," you comment, trying to ease the tension. Vada's face lights up with a genuine smile as she thanks you for the compliment.
"Do you always wear that letterman jacket? You look like you came straight out of a 90s movie." Vada says, laughing softly. "Oh, are you going to be an act too for this stand-up comedy thing?" You ask, joking.
"But, yeah, it's kind of my signature look," you reply with a chuckle. "I've always been drawn to that vintage aesthetic." Vada nods, her curiosity evident as she asks, "So, what other things inspire your style?"
"I don't know... I normally thrift a lot of my clothes," you admit. "Whether it's someone's old band t-shirt or their grandpa's old sweater, I love finding unique pieces. I also take inspiration from old photographs and films, especially from the 60s and 70s."
Vada smiles, clearly intrigued by your explanation. "I'm not a huge fashion before myself, but I don't know, I just like to be comfortable." You glance down at Vada's baggy attire, noticing the loose-fitting jeans and oversized hoodie.
"I totally get that," you reply. "Comfort is definitely important, and there's no right or wrong way to express yourself through fashion. It's all about finding what makes you feel good." Vada nods in agreement, playing with the drawstring on her hoodie.
-
There's an awkward silence as the comedian fails to deliver the punchline of his joke. Vada laughs in her own hand, trying not to be too loud. You can't help but smile as you glance at the shorter girl, confused. You lean into her ear, "I'm so confused. How was that funny?"
Vada chuckles and whispers back, "It wasn't. It was funny how no one was laughing." You glance around the room before laughing a bit yourself. She was right. Seeing the confused looks on everyone's faces made the situation even more amusing. It was as if the entire audience collectively missed the punchline.
You begin laughing even harder, unable to contain your amusement. The more you think about it, the funnier it becomes. Vada joins in on your laughter, hiding her face behind her hand as tears of laughter stream down her face.
"Why are you laughing, huh? You think it's easy to stand up here and try and do something you love?" The male comedian asks you, obviously upset that you're laughing at his expense. You quickly compose yourself, glancing at Vada, whose eyes are wide as she smiles, trying not to laugh again.
You raise your hand, trying to apologize for the misunderstanding, but the comedian interrupts you. "Well, if you think it's so easy, why don't you come up here and give it a shot?" he challenges, pointing towards the stage.
You shake your head with a tiny smile on your lips. "Come on, come up here." You squint your eyes as a light begins to shine on you from the stage. The audience starts cheering and encouraging you to take the comedian's challenge.
You look at Vada, "Go!" She says this, smiling as she pushes you from your seat. Reluctantly, you take a deep breath and make your way towards the stage, your heart beating in your chest. The comedian hands you the microphone with a smug look on his face.
Your shaky hands take the microphone, "Uh..." Your voice trembles as you try to gather your thoughts. You glance at an audience member who has a gutair strapped around their shoulder, and a lightbulb goes off in your head. "I'm not a comedian, but I can try and entertain you all another way."
With a nervous smile, you motion towards the audience member with the guitar, saying, "Can I borrow that for a second?" The audience member hesitates for a moment, but then nods and hands you the guitar. You place the microphone on its stand before stepping forward and strumming a few chords to test the sound.
"Something bad is bout' to happen to me. Why I feel this way, I don't know, baby." You sing with a raspy voice, closing your eyes and letting the music take over.
The crowd falls silent, captivated by the raw emotion in your performance. Vada is shocked, her eyes widening as she watches you on stage. She had no idea you could sing.
"I think of her so much it drives me crazy. I just don't want her to leave me."
You continue to sing Steve Lacy's iconic lyrics, pouring your heart out on stage. You hit the high notes, sending chills down the spines of everyone in the audience. This was much better than the comedy act they were just witnessing.
When you finish the song, Vada's the first one standing up and clapping, with others soon following. You open your eyes to see the crowd on their feet, their applause echoing through the venue. The look of surprise and admiration on Vada's face is priceless, and you can't help but smile broadly.
You push open the door to leave the club and are immediately greeted by a rush of cool night air. "That was so awesome! Just like...going up there and performing in front of all those people, it's such a rush," you exclaim, your eyes still shining with excitement.
Vada nods, her dimples deepening as she grins. "I never expected you to be such a natural on stage. It's like you were born to perform," she says, her voice filled with genuine admiration.
The two of you stop walking as you reach the edge of the sidewalk, taking a moment to catch your breath and let the adrenaline settle. The city lights twinkle above you, casting a magical glow on the vibrant streets below.
You glance over to Vada, and she glances back at you with a faint smile playing on her lips. "You hungry?" You ask, gesturing towards a nearby food truck. The tantalizing aroma of sizzling street food fills the air, making your stomach growl in response. Vada's eyes light up at the suggestion, and she nods eagerly, her excitement matching your own.
-
Vada smiles, her hair blowing in the wind due to the drop-top on your convertible. It's been three weeks since the comedy club, but the memory of that night still brings a smile to your face. The chemistry between you and Vada is undeniable, and you can't help but wonder what other adventures await the two of you.
Kali Uchis blasts through your speakers, filling the car with her soulful melodies. The warm sun kisses your skin as you drive along the scenic coastal road, creating the perfect backdrop for a carefree summer day.
You catch a glimpse of Vada through the side mirror, her hair blowing in the wind, and a contagious laugh escaping her lips. The connection between you two feels effortless, as if you've known each other for years.
"I just wanna get high with my lover!" Vada sings along to the lyrics, and you join in, "Veo una muñeca cuando miro en el espejo!"
Vada leans in closer to you, kissing your cheek gently while she sings more of the lyrics. "Kiss, kiss! Looking dolly, I think I might go out tonight. I just wanna ride get high in the moonlight."
The song proceeds to play, and your singing becomes more enthusiastic, matching Vada's energy. You both dance and laugh, completely lost in the moment. Soon, you both arrive at the beach, your phone ringing as you step outside the car.
"Hello?" You answer the phone and hear Jordan's voice on the other end. "Y/N! Where are you? I just stopped by your house, and you weren't there. I wanted to hang out tonight."
Vada waits patiently for you to end the phone call, holding all of your stuff in her hands.
"Oh, I'm uh...I'm not home right now." You mumble into the phone, scratching your nose. "Well, no shit. Where are you?"
"I'm actually at the beach with Vada," you reply, glancing at Vada, who raises an eyebrow curiously. "But maybe we can hang out tomorrow." You can basically hear the grin on Jordan's face.
"The beach, huh? You and Vada have been hanging out nearly every damn day. Don't tell me you're actually enjoying this bet, Y/LN." You chuckle and respond, "Goodbye, Jordan."
You quickly end the call, sending Vada a smile. You take the items from her hands, thankful for her help. As you start setting up your spot on the beach, Vada asks, "So, what did Jordan want?"
"To bother me," you reply with a dismissive wave. "He's always trying to pry into my business." Vada raises an eyebrow, clearly intrigued, but respects your privacy and doesn't press further. A part of you feels bad for becoming friends with Vada under such circumstances. She was a chill and easygoing person, and you found yourself truly enjoying yourself around her.
You couldn't help but wonder if you should tell her about the bet going on between you and Jordan or if you should just end the friendship altogether. It was a difficult decision to make, as you didn't want to risk losing the connection you had with Vada, but at the same time, keeping such a secret felt dishonest.
"Hey, where's the pump for this?" Vada asks, holding up the beach ball you packed with the rest of the beach gear. You smile, grateful for the distraction from your internal dilemma, and point her in the direction of the pump, except it's not there.
"Oh, shit." You frantically search through the beach bag, realizing that you must have forgotten to pack the pump. "Here, I'll just blow into it." You offer, trying to come up with a quick solution. However, as you start blowing into the beach ball, you quickly realize that it's going to take a lot more effort than you anticipated.
You feel yourself getting lightheaded as you continue to blow into the beach ball, desperately trying to inflate it. Vada giggles at your struggle, you send her a playful glare, but her laughter only encourages you to keep going.
"What if we take turns?" Vada suggests, hoping to alleviate some of the strain on you. You gratefully agree, handing her the faintly inflated beach ball. You expect her to wipe off the ball since your mouth was in fact directly on it, but she doesn't seem to mind.
Your heart begins racing. You basically just shared a kiss with Vada, even if it was through a beach ball. The thought of it sends a rush of excitement through your veins.
Vada hands you the ball back, slightly out of breath. You smile, hesitating for a moment before placing your lips on the ball again. After a while, the ball is fully inflated, and you both start tossing it back and forth, laughing and enjoying each other's company.
"Don't let it drop!" Vada yells out, her laughter echoing across the beach. You run as fast as you can, determined to keep the ball in the air. The sand squishes between your toes as you dive to smack it back into the air. The sound of the ball hitting your palm fills the air, creating a rhythmic pattern that matches the beat of your racing heart.
"God, do you play volleyball?" Vada asks, her eyes widening with excitement. You shake your head, catching your breath, and reply, "No, but I guess I could give it a try!"
You smack the ball a bit too hard, and it flies over Vada's head, landing in the sand behind her. She turns around, a playful grin on her face, and says, "I'm definitely not getting that." You chuckle, running over to retrieve the ball. Before you can, someone kicks it away, sending it rolling further down the beach.
"The fuck—" you stop yourself, looking up and noticing Jordan. Jordan, with a mischievous smirk on his face, shrugs and says, "Oops, my bad! Thought I'd give you a challenge."
"What are you doing here?" you ask, slightly annoyed by Jordan's interference. He chuckles and replies, "Just enjoying the beach with my friends."
You look behind him, noticing he's brought company—some of your friends and other people you've hung around with before. They wave at you, smiling and clearly excited to see you. Jordan adds, "We thought it would be fun to have a little gathering here. Hope you don't mind."
You narrow your eyes at your best friend. "You're an asshole. You're only doing this because I told you I was hanging out with Vada here." Jordan raises an eyebrow, feigning innocence. "Come on, don't be like that. It's just a coincidence that you're both here too."
You let out a sigh, realizing that Jordan's actions were most likely intentional. Despite feeling annoyed, you decide to put aside your frustration and make the best of the situation. "Alright, fine. Now go get my beach ball."
Jordan smirks, clearly enjoying the power he holds over you. "Sure thing, but only if you promise to introduce me to Vada later." You roll your eyes, knowing that Jordan's ulterior motives are far from innocent.
You walk over to Vada, plopping down beside her on her towel. She looks up at you with a smile, unaware of the tension between you and Jordan. "Sorry about that. He just invited himself...and everyone else."
Vada smiles, shaking her head. "It's okay. If we're going to be friends, I'd have to meet your other friends anyway." You chuckle, relieved that Vada doesn't seem bothered by Jordan's presence.
You begin unbuttoning your shirt, feeling a bit hot in it, leaving you in your white tank top. Vada glances over at you, her eyes lingering for a moment before she looks away, a faint blush creeping onto her cheeks.
Jordan walks over and throws the beach ball, obviously aiming to hit your face. You quickly catch it, sending your best friend a glare. Jordan lets out a silly laugh, clearly enjoying the playful banter. Vada raises an eyebrow at Jordan's antics, but her smile remains intact as she watches the interaction between the two of you.
"Someone has the guns out." Austin, another one of your friends says, walking toward the group with a mischievous grin. You roll your eyes at his comment, playfully flexing your muscles in response.
"You mean these?" You flex your biceps, exaggerating the muscles for comedic effect. Austin chuckles and nods, teasingly adding, "Yeah, those tiny peashooters." You playfully throw the ball at him, pretending to be offended by his remark.
"Alright, stop showing off in front of the pretty lady." Jordan teases, winking at Vada. Vada's face breaks into confusion, as she wonders if Jordan's comment was meant as a compliment or a joke. She looks at Austin for clarification, who shrugs and smirks, leaving her even more uncertain about the situation.
"Let's play a full game of volleyball," Austin suggests, picking up the beachball that had been thrown at him. Vada eagerly agrees, grateful for the distraction from the awkward tension between Jordan and herself.
You all split into two teams, with Vada and Jordan on one side and Austin and you on the other. Jordan serves the ball with a powerful swing, causing Austin to dive to the sand to make a save.
"Stop trying so hard, bitch!" Austin yells at Jordan with a smile on his lips. Jordan laughs, brushing off the comment with a playful smirk. The friendly banter between them lightens the atmosphere, allowing everyone to relax and enjoy the game even more.
Mid-game, Vada takes off her slightly baggy shirt, which she tied with a knot at the front, revealing her bikini. You notice Jordan staring at Vada, his eyes lingering on her, causing jealousy to rise within you.
You smack the ball against Jordan's head, catching him off guard and breaking his gaze. He glares at you, earning a shrug, as you innocently raise your hands in defense. "You had a bug on your head."
-
You're dropping Vada off at her house after the game when she turns to you with a smile. "Thanks for saving me from Jordan's ogling," she says, playfully nudging your arm. "I owe you one."
You smile, blushing a bit. "You saw that?" You ask, your eye's widening slightly. Vada chuckles and nods, her eyes twinkling mischievously. "Oh, I definitely saw that. You were like my personal superhero swooping in to save the day."
"Well, I couldn't let him make you uncomfortable," you reply, feeling a surge of protectiveness. "I'm always here to look out for you." Vada's smile widens, and she leans in closer. You glance behind her and say, "I could walk you to the door.
Vada blinks and looks at you, her expression softening. "Sure." You quickly get out of the car, making your way to Vada's side. Shoving your hands in your pockets to hide your nerves, you match Vada's pace as you both walk towards her front door. The night air is cool, but the warmth of Vada's presence makes it feel comforting.
"If you want, we could hang out tomorrow?" You ask, hoping to spend more time with Vada. Before she could respond, her front door flies open. A short figure emerges from the doorway, causing both you and Vada to pause. It's Vada's younger sister who greets you with a friendly smile.
"Hey, guys! What are you up to?" she asks, oblivious to the tension in the air.
"Oh my god, Amelia." Vada exclaims, clearly annoyed with her younger sister's interruption. Amelia shrugs innocently, not realizing the impact of her sudden appearance. Vada takes a deep breath, trying to calm herself before addressing the situation.
"Mom! Vada brought a lesbian home!" Amelia shouts, slightly turning her head towards her mother, who is in the next room.
Everyone freezes, unsure of how to react to Amelia's unexpected announcement. Vada's face turns red with embarrassment while you thin out your lips, confused and a bit amused.
Vada's mouth drops. "I am so sorry." She says to you, her voice filled with genuine remorse. You shrug her off while Amelia gasps. "Oh, are you not a lesbian?"
You chuckle, "Um...I do like girls." Before Amelia could press you for more information, Vada's mom appears in the doorway. "What's going on here?" she asks, her voice laced with worry. Vada quickly explains the situation, hoping to diffuse any potential tension.
"I was just dropping Vada off from the beach," you also add, trying to ease any concerns. "We were just having a casual conversation, nothing serious." Vada's mom looks relieved and nods understandingly.
"Well, as long as everyone is okay," she says with a smile. You exchange a grateful glance with Vada, grateful for her mom's understanding.
"Would you like to stay for dinner?" Vada's mom offers, wanting to extend her gratitude for your honesty and reassure you that everything is alright. You glance at Vada, who stares at her mom with a shocked expression. "That would be really nice," you respond, feeling touched by Vada's mom's kindness.
Dinner was fun. Amelia had no filter, which made everything hilarious and entertaining. She shared funny and embarrassing stories of Vada, which Vada tries to interrupt with playful protests. Despite the initial shock, Vada soon joins in on the laughter, realizing that her sister's antics brought out a huge and genuine smile on your face.
There were also serious moments during dinner where Vada's parents questioned you about your future plans and aspirations. They were genuinely interested in your goals and offered advice and support. It was refreshing to have such meaningful conversations with Vada's family, making you feel like a valued member of their circle.
You throw yourself on Vada's bed, falling face first onto the soft pillows. Vada plops on top of your back, laughing at your dramatic entrance. She soon rolls off of you, and you lay on your back, gazing up at the ceiling.
Vada was such a breath of fresh air in your life. Her carefree spirit is infectious, and you can't help but feel happy every single time you're around her.
She has a way of making even the simplest moments feel special, and her laughter is like music to your ears. Being friends with Vada has brought so much joy and light into your life, and you can't imagine what it would be like without her.
Fuck this bet, you think to yourself. Vada's friendship is worth so much more than any silly wager.
"You look deep in thought." Vada's voice interrupts your contemplation, pulling you back to the present moment.  "What's on your mind?" she asks, her eyes filled with genuine concern.
You turn your head towards Vada, a small smile forming on your lips. "I was just thinking about how grateful I am to have you as a friend," you say sincerely. "Your friendship means the world to me."
"You're so sappy." Vada mumbles, laughing softly. You break out into a smile. "I'm pouring my heart out here, c'mon!" You tease playfully, putting on an Italian accent.
Vada rolls her eyes, but her smile betrays her amusement. "That was one of the worst Italian accents I've ever heard," she says, chuckling. "But...you mean a lot to me too."
You feel a warm rush of affection as Vada's words sink in. "I'm glad to hear that," you reply, licking your lips. A comfortable silence falls over the two of you as you both bask in the genuine connection and shared vulnerability. Your eyes never leave each other, as if speaking a language that only the two of you understand.
"Is that all?" Vada breaks the silence. "Or is there something else you want to say?"
"Be my girlfriend?" Vada's eyes widen with surprise, and she stares at you.  She takes a moment to process your words before responding, "Okay."
-
"I'm even more excited than I was." Jordan smiles, "I can't believe you got away with that." You shake your head at your best friend, an eye roll following.
"No, seriously. You asked her to be your girlfriend, it's barely been a month, and you didn't even kiss her after? Shits crazy."
You put the last plate on the table, "Shut the fuck up, Jordan."
Jordan chuckles, raising his hands in surrender. "Alright, alright, I'll drop it. But seriously, man, you might've won this bet. Still gotta get the parents approval, though."
You let out a sigh, saying, "Maybe we should drop this bet, man." Jordan raises an eyebrow, a mischievous grin forming on his face. "Are you getting cold feet already? Come on, don't tell me you're chickening out now."
You shoot him a glare but can't help but feel a twinge of doubt. "It's just... I don't want to risk ruining our friendship over some stupid bet." Jordan starts to smirk. "Oh shit, you actually caught feeling for her? You can't be serious."
You roll your eyes, trying to brush off Jordan's teasing. "So, what? She's a nice girl, and I don't want to mess things up with this stupid bet about her."
Jordan chuckles, bringing his fist to his mouth. "I can't believe you're actually considering backing out because of a little crush. You've never been one to shy away from a challenge before."
He sighs, adding to his argument. "How about this? If your parents go for it, we'll drop the bet. But if they don't, you have to tell her it was a bet and apologize for any hurt feelings. It's only fair to give her the truth and a chance to decide if she still wants to pursue a relationship with you."
"Fine." You mutter, leaving the room with a heavy sigh.
Vada arrives at your doorstep, a nervous smile on her face. She seems unaware of the bet that has been made and the doubts that have been plaguing you. As you open the door, you can't help but wonder if this could be the start of something real or if it's all just a game that will eventually come crashing down.
You bring Vada into a hug, mumbling into her ear, "I'm glad you're here." Vada returns the hug, sighing contentedly. You pull away, looking into her eyes.
"My dad is in the kitchen." Vada nods, hearing Bad Bunny blaring from the speakers. "Where's your mom?" You begin walking toward the kitchen, "She's in the living room, finishing up the tree. I'll introduce you to her later. Let's go say hi to my dad first." Vada smiles and follows you, playing with her ring as you lead the way.
"Una dominicana que es uva bombón!" Your dad shouts, singing the lyrics. Jordan joins in, singing the next line. "Uva, uva bombón!" You facepalm, shaking your head at their silliness. Vada giggles, clearly amused by their antics.
"Dad!" You shout, trying to regain their attention. "We have a guest here, remember?" Your dad and Jordan finally notice Vada standing there, and their faces light up with surprise and excitement. "Oh wow, who do we have here?" your dad asks, extending his hand towards Vada.
"This is Vada, my girlfriend." You introduce Vada with a smile. Vada returns the gesture, shaking your dad's hand warmly. "Girlfriend? Am I dreaming?" your dad exclaims, a wide grin spreading across his face. "I never thought I'd see the day! It's great to finally meet you, Vada."
You sigh at your father. "Es bonita, mija." You clear your throat, blushing a bit. "Suficiente papá." Your dad chuckles and playfully nudges you. "No need to be shy. I'm just happy to see you happy." Vada smiles warmly at both of you, grateful for the warm welcome.
Your mom walks in, her eyes widening with surprise as she takes in the scene. "Well, well, well," she says with a smirk. "Looks like someone finally found themselves a catch." You roll your eyes at your mom's teasing, but deep down, you appreciate her support and acceptance.
Vada begins talking to your parents while you excuse yourself to speak to Jordan. "Looks like I won the bet." You say with a playful smile, feeling a sense of triumph. Jordan chuckles and shakes his head, admitting defeat.
"Jordan, Y/N, come help me bring out the food." Your mom calls out, breaking the playful banter between you and Jordan. You both exchange amused glances before making your way to help her, Vada also joins, eager to lend a hand.
Jordan is the last to leave the kitchen, hearing your parents talk about Vada. "Crees que es otro truco?" Your dad asks your mom. Jordan leans against the kitchen counter, listening intently to your parents' conversation about Vada. He raises an eyebrow, curious about their suspicions.
"No lo sé, cariño. Parece genuino, no crees?" Your dad shrugs at your mother's question, contemplating the authenticity of Vada's intentions. Jordan rushes out to the dining room, catching you staring at Vada like a lovesick puppy.
"Y/N." Jordan calls out your name, interrupting your daydreaming and bringing you back to reality. You hum, nodding your head at him. "Can I talk to you for a second?" You nod and follow Jordan to a quieter corner of the room.
"I heard your parents talking about how they think this is a trick." He begins to smirk, "Maybe this bet may be mine anyways." You roll your eyes, tired of this stupid bet.
"Whatever bro. I just wanna eat and enjoy dinner without any drama." Jordan chuckles, his smirk fading slightly. "Come on, Y/N. You know it's all in good fun. Besides, it's not like Vada and you are actually gonna last." You raise an eyebrow at him, wondering what he's getting at.
"What do you mean by that?" you ask, leaning in closer to Jordan. "Are you trying to say that Vada and I don't have a real connection?" Jordan shrugs, a sneaky glint in his eyes. "I'm just saying, Y/N, relationships at our age rarely go the distance. But hey, prove me wrong."
You scoff at him, "Sure...whatever you say. Don't be shocked when Vada and I prove you wrong and end up together for the long haul." Jordan raises an eyebrow, his sneaky glint fading slightly. "Well, I guess time will tell," he concedes, a hint of doubt in his voice.
When dinner ends, everyone begins to clean up and put away the dishes. "Have you seen my AirPods anywhere?" you ask Jordan, hoping he might have seen them. "You left them in my car like an entire month ago."
You roll your eyes and playfully nudge him. "Seriously? You couldn't have mentioned that earlier?" Jordan chuckles and shrugs. "I guess I wanted to see how long it would take for you to realize they were missing."
"You're a dickhead."
"Language!" From the kitchen, your mom scolds, reminding you to watch your language. You sheepishly apologize and snatch Jordan's keys from him. He glares at you, pulling at his phone that began ringing in his pocket.
"Wanna get some air?" You ask Vada, gesturing towards the open front door. Vada nods, following behind you as you step outside. "Your parents are nice. They're pretty chill, and your mom is honestly like drop-dead gorgeous."
You chuckle. "Do I have to compete with my mom for your attention now?" Vada laughs and playfully nudges you. "Nah, don't worry. You're more than enough for me."
You walk to Jordan's car, leaning against it as you wait for Vada to join you. "Wanna sit in the car?" You suggest, knowing that it might be more comfortable than standing outside. Vada considers for a moment before agreeing, "Sure, why not? It's a bit chilly out here." You both settle into the car, leaning back in the back leather seats.
Silence falls between you as you take in the peacefulness of the moment.
You look over at Vada, a soft smile playing on your lips. Vada turns her head to you before sitting up in her seat, leaning forward slightly. Her eyes fall to your lips, staring at them intently.
Without thinking, she leans in closer, capturing your lips with a gentle yet passionate kiss. The warmth of her touch sends a shiver down your spine, and you find yourself lost in the moment, forgetting about the chilly weather outside.
The kiss begins to deepen as Vada's hands slide up to cup your face, pulling you even closer. You find yourself melting against her lips, savoring the taste of her soft, sweet breath.
You pull away, breathless and hot, your heart racing as you lock eyes with Vada. "Can I turn on the A/C?" You mutter to the freckled-faced girl. Vada chuckles but nods regardless.
You put the key in the ignition and start the car, the engine purring to life. The cool air from the A/C quickly fills the car, providing a refreshing contrast to the heated moment that just transpired.
You bring Vada into another kiss, more passionate and urgent than before. The intensity between you both grows as you explore each other's mouths, losing yourselves in the heat of the moment. Your hand is tangled in Vada's hair, pulling her closer to you if that were possible.
"Y/N's still doing that bet with Vada?" You recognize that voice, it was Austin. You pull away from Vada, your eyes falling on Jordan's car screen, confirming he was on the phone with Austin. It must've connected to the car automatically, allowing Austin's voice to fill the car.
You quickly release Vada and feel a rush of embarrassment wash over you. You exchange a nervous glance with Vada, hoping Austin doesn't go in detail about the bet you've been participating in.
"It's silly, really. This all started because she didn't wanna do her math homework? So she decided to start dating baby Adam Sandler and introduce her to her parents? That's pretty fucked up. If I were Vada, I'd be pissed."
You close your eyes, taking a deep breath to steady your racing heart. The weight of Austin's words hangs heavy in the air. You hope that Vada understands that it was all just a silly game and that she won't hold it against you.
"Is he serious? A bet? Am I a bet to you?" You feel a knot forming in your stomach as Vada's voice trembles with hurt and disbelief. The realization hits you like a ton of bricks, and you quickly shake your head, desperately trying to find the right words to explain yourself.
"Am I a fucking bet to you?" Vada's voice cracks with anger, and tears well up in her eyes. The pain in her words cuts deep, leaving you speechless and filled with regret. You reach out to touch her arm, hoping to convey your sincerity and remorse, but the damage may already be done.
Vada pushes away your arm, opening the car door and slamming it shut behind her. Her actions speak louder than words, and you watch helplessly as she walks away, leaving you to grapple with the consequences of your thoughtless words.
Jordan rushes to the driver's side of the door, out of breath. "Did she hear?" Jordan asks, panting as he rests his hand on the car door. The worry in his eyes mirrors your own as you shake your head, uncertain of how to fix the mess you've made. "She did."
-
It's been two days, and you've called Vada's phone and sent multiple texts, but there's been no response. The silence only amplifies your guilt and regret as you desperately hope for a chance to apologize and make things right.
You decide to call her house phone, surprised when someone answers. "Mrs. Cavell?" You ask on the phone, hoping to speak with Vada's mother. "It's Amelia, asshole. Don't call again."
You're bewildered by the harsh response from Amelia. You never expected her to be so angry and hostile toward you. "Amelia, please. Just put your sister on the phone."
You plead, hoping to reason with Amelia and convince her to let you speak with Vada. However, Amelia's voice remains firm and cold as she refuses your request, leaving you feeling even more desperate and regretful.
"If I buy you $100 worth of slime supplies, will you let me talk to Vada?" you offer, trying to find a compromise. But Amelia's response is immediate and resolute, "No amount of slime supplies will change my mind. Don't contact us again."
"Fine! $200!" you exclaim, desperation creeping into your voice. Amelia stays silent for a moment, finally giving in. "Our parents are out. If you come over, you have ten minutes to speak to her." Relief washes over you as Amelia finally agrees to let you talk to Vada, even if it means spending more money.
With a renewed sense of urgency, you quickly make plans to rush over to their house within the given time frame, hoping that this opportunity will help mend the strained relationship between you and Vada.
You burst through Vada's room, and she jumps up in surprise, her eyes widening as she takes in your unexpected presence. "I'm on limited time by your sister, so I have to make this quick."
You take a deep breath, walking closer to Vada. "I made that bet before I met you, Vada. And spending time with you made me realize that winning that bet was not what was important anymore. What matters to me now is repairing our relationship and showing you how much you mean to me."
Vada's expression softens as she listens, her guard slowly starting to come down. "I never wanted to hurt you, Vada. I want us to start fresh and build something real together."
"What was it for anyway? I mean, what did you end up losing?" Vada asks, her curiosity piqued. You take another step closer before continuing. "I lost a lot of things, Vada. I lost your trust, our connection, and the chance to truly be there for you. But what I gained was the realization that you are the most important person in my life and the one girl that my parents truly approve of."
Vada stands up, playing with the bottom of her shirt. She looks down for a moment, deep in thought, before finally meeting your gaze. "Don't make me sing again." You jokingly mutter, looking down at the shorter girl.
Vada's eyes widen, and a small smile tugs at the corners of her lips. "No, not this time," she says playfully. "But I do expect you to make it up to me in some other way."
You smile, leaning down and lifting Vada's chin with your finger. Vada glances at your lips before looking back up into your eyes. You smirk before closing the distance between you, capturing her lips in a gentle kiss.
Your worries fade away, drowning in the sound of your heart pounding against your ribcage. Vada's arms wrap around your neck, pulling you closer, and you can't help but let out a content sigh against her lips.
As you pull away, Vada's cheeks flush with a rosy hue, and she bites her lip, opening her mouth to speak but is interrupted. "Ten minutes is up. Where's my $200?" Amelia says from Vada's door, holding out her hand expectantly.
Vada pulls away from you, confused. "What is she talking about?" You clear your throat. "I might've...um...made a deal with Amelia so she could let me talk to you."
Vada's eyes widen in surprise as she processes your words. "You paid her to see me?" she asks, laughing. You smile sheepishly, "Well, I wanted to make sure I had a chance to talk to you without any interruptions. It was worth every penny."
Vada's laughter fills the room as she playfully nudges your shoulder, "You're ridiculous, but I'm glad you did."

Alcina runs her gloved fingers through your hair before she steps out of the shadows towards the prisoner, leaving you out of sight but within earshot. The girls had dragged him out of his cell and seated him in an old wooden chair.
Bela, Cassandra and Daniela are taunting the prisoner, unaware of their mother's presence. The moment sound of Alcina's heels hit the stone floor with a "CRACK" the girls immediately fall in line.
The prisoner looks up with a terror in his eyes that grows as he takes in the sight before him. The small space of the dungeon makes Alcina look even taller, more imposing, more terrifying. She confidently and unapologetically takes up the space she occupies which makes her all the more intimidating. Never in his short life has the prisoner felt smaller, weaker and as helpless as he does in this moment.
"Well, well. If it isn't our little hunter." Alcina says, her grin widening as she leans into the prisoners space. "Daughters, has he given you any useful information?"
"Not yet mother." Bela says.
"We were just about to start playing with him." Cassandra says with a sadistic smile.
"There will be plenty of time to play with him later girls. Until then, let the interrogation commence." She says as she stands to her full height and raises her arms, signaling for the girls to take over before stepping off to the side. Alcina takes a seat in a larger chair and crosses her legs. She pulls out a lighter and lights the cigarette sitting at the end of her quellazaire before taking a deep inhale. The smoke dances around her as she exhales, curling almost beautifully as it glides through the air.
"We're going to start off with an easy question." Bela says with a sickly sweet tone of voice. "What's your name, little one?"
The prisoner stares at Bela with a blank look on his face, too terrified to respond.
"It will do you well to participate." Alcina says. "I make no promises that my daughters won't do all that they can to extract an answer from you."
The casual tone of her voice is unsettling. Cassandra steps in front of him, gently dragging her sickle down the side of his face but doesn't break skin.
"Or you can keep that mouth of yours shut. I do love being able to dig the answers out of our prisoners."
She presses the sickle harder into his face and a trickle of blood begins to run down his dirty skin.
"Cassandra." Alcina warns.
Cassandra pulls away with a dissatisfied grunt and returns to her spot next to Daniela.
"Shall we try again?" Bela asks, spinning her sickle in her hand. "What's your name?"
"D-dorin."
"See how easy that was?" Bela says with a wide, bloody smile. "Now, how far away was the base from where mother found you?"
"Less than a quarter mile."
Bela walks over to one of the tables with a book sitting on it and writes something down.
"Wonderful. Did they attack mother as soon as they found her?"
"N-no." He says, his eyes shifting from Bela to Alcina. "They noticed her following two of the members and led her away from the base before attacking."
Bela writes in the book and turns to Cassandra, nodding for her to take over.
Cassandra circles Dorin for a few moments before stopping behind him and leaning into his ear.
"BOO!"
Dorin yelped, jumping in his seat as Cassandra laughed at him; Bela and Daniela joining in on the laughter. Alcina even chuckled as she took another drag from her cigarette.
She rounded the chair and leaned in, her face becoming uncomfortably close with his, enough so that he winced and pulled back a little.
"Tell me, what were you all planning?"
"Th-they want to attack the four lords."
"When?" Cassandra growled.
"I don't know, they didn't say-"
Cassandra presses her sickle against his neck.
"Do not lie to me."
"I'm not! I promise! I really don't know when, they never told me a date! I wasn't a high enough rank to know things like that. All I knew was that they wanted to attack all four of the lords at once, I swear!" He says as tears run down his cheeks.
Cassandra withdraws her sickle and circles the chair again.
"And just how many of there are you?"
"Well, there were maybe fifty of us, but at least half of them were killed."
"Fifty? That's all?"
"They were recruiting more."
"How many more?"
"Hundreds."
"How?"
"From nearby villages and other countries. Sixty of them were coming in next week."
Cassandra grills him for the next few minutes on exactly where the hunters were coming from, what weapons they were supposed to be bringing and an overall layout of the base. When she was finished she stood next to Bela and Daniela.
"Daniela, darling, do you have any questions for the prisoner?" Alcina asks.
Daniela walks up to him and circles him a few times. She brushes his messy hair out of his face and squishes his cheeks between her hands.
"No, he's cute though, mother!" She says with an excited smile.
Alcina raises an eyebrow towards her daughter and with a huff, Daniela walks away and stands next to her sisters. The sound of heels on the stone floor fill the dungeon once more as Alcina walks up towards the prisoner.
"Was that all of the information you know?" She asks.
Dorin swallows hard and nods his head.
"Yes."
Alcina growls and leans in towards him.
"It would be in your very best interest not to lie to me."
"I-I'm not. I swear! That's it!"
"I will give you one more chance. I know you are not telling me everything." Alcina hears his heartrate grow faster and faster, not only is he lying through his teeth, he's more terrified than he was before. "What more information are you keeping from me?"
In the shadows you can feel your heart beating out of your chest. "Just tell them you idiot!" You scream in your head.
"Nothing. I've told you everything I know."
In that moment you knew he sealed his fate, but a tiny bit of you held out hope that he's either just too stupid or too scared to say the rest. He's just a kid after all, isn't he?
"LIAR!" Alcina screams in his face, causing him to flinch. "If there is one thing in this world that I detest most, it is a liar. And I will make sure you spill every ounce of truth." She says as she elongates her claws.
"I swear! That's everything! Please!"
Alcina retracts her claws and stands back up. She puts out the cigarette at the end of her quellazaire and lays it down on the table.
"Would you like to know how I know you are not being truthful?" Dorin doesn't respond, he just stares at her. "Because a little fly told me you had a visitor yesterday, one you poured your pathetic little heart out to."
Alcina walks over towards you and places a hand on your shoulder, guiding you out from the shadows. If Dorin had any color left in his face, it would have drained right then and there.
"You- you told them?" He asks in disbelief.
"I told you to tell them everything!" You say, as you walk towards him.
"You promised-"
"Enough!" Alcina says. "I know you are leaving out a very important piece of information. She told me everything."
You see something inside Dorin snap.
"You fucking bitch!!" He screams.
He lunges forward at you and you notice the glint of something sharp in his hand. Alcina quickly grabs your arm and pulls you backwards with such force you nearly fall over. You can feel the rush of air pass by as the object in Dorin's hand just misses you as you're pulled away. Cassandra jumps forward and sinks her sickle into his shoulder and pulls him back down into his seat. Dorin cries out in pain and you hear the sound of something hitting the ground. Alcina catches you before you fall and in an instant she's on her knees in front of you patting you down, checking for injuries.
"Draga, draga mea are you alright? Are you hurt?" She asks as her eyes scan every inch of you.
"No, no I'm okay, I promise. He didn't get me." Looking over her shoulder, you see a jagged piece of scrap metal laying on the floor. He must have found it in his cell and kept it up his sleeve as a makeshift weapon.
Alcina exhales a breath of relief before fury takes over her eyes. Her head snaps in Dorin's direction, all of her rage pointed directly at him.
"How DARE you try and lay a hand on what is MINE."
A look of confusion crosses Dorin's face until he registers that Alcina now has a protective arm around you and the interaction the two of you just had.
"I knew I never should have trusted you!" He screams at you. "You lying fucking bitch! You tricked me!"
"No! I didn't! I promise I was trying to help you!" You say as Alcina's grip around you tightens ever so slightly when she hears your voice shake.
"You told them everything! About the base, the hunters, about their cold weakness!" The three girls freeze in place when they hear him say that, their eyes go wide as they look over at Alcina and you. Each girl had a different look in their eyes. Cassandra was absolutely furious, Bela was shocked and Daniela was fearful. All three of them shared a look of disappointment and maybe even a hint of betrayal when they realized you both kept this information from them. "I bet you even told them about my mother and sisters in the village you traitor!" Dorin screams.
Alcina's head slowly turns to look at you, her eyes wide. With her still kneeling next to you she's much closer. So much so that you can see the flecks of grey and a small ring of red around the iris of her eyes.
"His what?" She hisses.
As you look up into her eyes tears begin to roll down your cheek. Alcina's eyes are filled with rage and disbelief. Looking back towards Dorin his eyes are wide as saucers.
"I didn't tell them that." You say softly, defeated.
"Well girls, it seems a little trip down to the village is in order." Alcina says with such ice in her voice it makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.
"No!" Both you and Dorin cry out.
Alcina's gaze snaps down to you.
"Al-" Her gaze at you hardens. "M-my lady, please, please don't, they're innocent in all of this."
"They had nothing to do with this! It was all my dad and brothers and you already killed them!" He yells.
Alcina looks over to Dorin and stands back up. She runs her fingers through your hair as she steps away from you, a subtle hint of comfort as she walks closer to him.
"You see, all of this could have been avoided if only you were honest from the beginning. Your carelessness, your selfishness is going to be the cause of the rest of your family's demise."
"Please! I'm sorry! Please don't hurt them!" He cries as he tries to stand up but Cassandra sinks her sickle deeper into his clavicle, causing him to yelp in pain as she pulls him back down.
"I'm sure the women in your family will make a nice vintage for next season." She says all too casually before letting out a deep, dark chuckle.
"You're all fucking monsters! All of you! You're all going to burn in hell!"
The laugh Alcina lets out is chilling. She leans in towards Dorin and says with a sickly-sweet smile, "you're already here." Before standing up to her full height and laughing out loud once more.
"Daughters, I believe we've heard enough from our prisoner. You're free to do what you want with the man-thing." The smile on the girls' faces grow wide, sending shivers down your spine. Alcina turns and stares down at you. "And you, you are coming with me. You and I must have a conversation."
She begins to guide you away from Dorin and you hear him yell out "I hope she fucking kills you!"
You stop and turn back towards him, his eyes are filled with hate and they're directed right at you. Alcina places her hand on your shoulder and continues to guide you out of the dungeon.
The moment the door shuts you hear the girl's laughter and the sound of Dorin screaming in pain. The sound of a sickle slicing through him makes it to your ears and you freeze as your stomach twists violently. He starts to gurgle on his screams and you feel the blood drain from your face.
Alcina looks down at you and sees you frozen in horror. The tears flow down your cheeks faster and you begin to tremble as the girls' laughter gets louder and louder.
"Come, draga." She says, putting a hand on the back of your shoulder and begins to guide you away from the dungeon.
It felt like you and Alcina were walking for an eternity. The screams from behind the door seemed to follow you as far as possible. As the awful sounds ring in your ears the memory of Alcina's claws punching through Stefana's body resurface. At the time you were too dazed to register any noises but your mind put the sound you heard just after the door closed to that visual and you begin to tremble more. Alcina kept a firm hand against your back - it was the only thing keeping you grounded. Every so often her thumb would rub against your shirt, providing a silent comfort while the two of you made your way out of the basement.
It wasn't until you began to walk up the stairs did the horrible sounds finally begin to fade out completely. When the two of you emerged from the basement a few maids stopped and stared at your disheveled state. Mixed looks of fear, pity, and disgust crossed their faces for a brief moment before the low growl Alcina let out sent them scurrying from the room.
With a large hand still resting on your shoulder, Alcina led you up the stairs towards her chambers. As you walked through the halls you looked up to steal a glance of Alcina's face. Her chin was held high as usual but you noticed the slight furrow in her brows and that her jaw was clenched tight. She seemed focused on where the two of you were going but you could tell at the same time she was deep in thought. Quickly you averted your eyes before she caught you looking at her.
Upon reaching her chambers, Alcina led you into the room before shutting the door behind her and guided you towards the chaise lounge in the corner. Once you were settled she walked over to her vanity and opened one of the drawers, taking out a case of cigarettes and a lighter. Neither one of you have uttered a word since the dungeon and you weren't about to be the one to break the silence.
Luckily, you stopped trembling. Only your hands had a slight shake to them as you tried your hardest to forget about the noises and thoughts plaguing your mind.
Alcina took a deep drag of her cigarette, her shoulders dropping some of the stress sitting on them as she exhaled. After a few more silent drags she stubbed the cigarette out in the ashtray and made her way across the room, taking the spot next to you on the lounge.
There were a few tense moments where you weren't sure if you were going receive the brunt of Alcina's anger and frustrations or if she was going to be the soft, caring woman you've grown to love. It seemed that Alcina contemplated that thought herself before sighing and tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.
Hesitantly, you turned towards her and met her gaze. In her eyes you could see the frustration, but more than that, you saw the concern she had for you.
Alcina cupped your face and wiped away the tear streaks with her thumb.
"Are you alright?" She asks.
"Mhm." You say, nodding into her hand. "The noises brought me back to when I fell down the stairs and, I don't know I just-" you trail off as your anxiety begins to build again.
Alcina immediately picks up on it and wraps her arm around you, pulling you close. Her lips meet your temple and she places a light kiss against your hairline. Instead of pulling away, you feel Alcina lean her head against yours.
"Shh, it's alright draga. We don't need to revisit that day. It's over." You nod against her and she moves to rest her chin on top of your head. "I did instruct the girls to wait until we were much further away before they began... playing with our prisoner. However, I think hearing him discuss their cold weakness set them off. I was half expecting Cassandra to go after him right then and there."
"I'm surprised she didn't, she was so mad." Fresh tears begin to prick at your eyes. "They all looked so hurt that we didn't tell them. I hate that that's how they found out. I told him to tell you everything, I told him!"
Alcina pulls you into her lap as you start to cry again, gently shushing you.
"You did everything you could draga. There was nothing more you were able to do. You risked your life to help a stranger and he repaid you by lying and then trying to kill you. Everything that happened to him after that was deserved."
"Is it naïve of me to think he only reacted like that because he's a kid and that he was just terrified?"
Alcina exhales from above you before lifting her head and bringing a gloved finger underneath your chin. She lifts your gaze to meet hers and tilts her head, a knowing look in her eyes.
"Do you truly need me to answer that question?"
"No."
"Draga, he tried to kill you. If I didn't pull you back, if I took just a second longer to react he would have-" Alcina's grip on you tightens and she shakes her head. "I don't even want to think of what could have happened." She says softly.
"Thank you for saving me." You say, burying your face into the soft fabric of her dress.
"I will always protect you, iubirea mea. Always."
The two of you sit in a comfortable silence for a few minutes before feeling a shift in the air. Stealing another look up at Alcina you notice her staring off into the distance, a pensive look on her face. Her eyes drift down and lock onto yours for a moment before she looks ahead once more.
"Are you mad at me?" You ask.
Alcina lets out an almost exaggerated exhale and looks down at you. She steels her expression in a way that makes her completely unreadable and you feel your heart sink in your chest. Alcina leans down and places a kiss to the top of your head before shifting you off of her lap and onto the chaise lounge.
"No." She says as she stands up and makes her way over to her vanity. "But that does not mean that I am happy with you."
You drop your gaze down to your lap, nodding in understanding as you fiddle with your hands. Off to the side you hear the metal cigarette case snap shut and the sound of the lighter flicking a few times before it lights. The faint crackle of the end of her cigarette is the only sound that fills the room until she exhales a cloud of smoke into the air.
"You do understand why I am not happy with you at the moment, yes?" She asks as she turns towards you.
"Yes, I think so." Alcina tilts her head at you, silently telling you to continue. "Because I didn't tell you about his family in the village?"
"Yes. Precisely." She says before taking another drag. "What I cannot seem to wrap my mind around is the fact that we spoke just last night about being completely honest with one another. Again. And again, you were not honest with me. Can you tell me why that is? Because I am having quite a difficult time understanding why you lied to me, again."
Peeling your eyes away from hers, you look down at your hands in your lap while you squirm under her gaze.
"I - I didn't think it was important." You say quietly before looking up at her again.
You can see the anger that flashes in her eyes, it almost makes you wince but stop yourself from reacting.
"That is not for you to decide." The iciness of her voice sends a shiver down your spine that you try to suppress. "You do not get to deem whether or not the information my prisoner gives you is important. Unless you've forgotten your place? In case you have, let me remind you. Just because we are in a relationship in no way means that your word outweighs mine. This is still my castle, my domain. It is my word that is law here, not yours. If he told you as little as when he last sneezed, I expect you to relay that information to me because it is not your place to decide what is and what is not important. As deeply as I care for you, you are still my maiden. I am your countess, your mistress and you will obey the rules I have in place. Do I make myself clear?"
Part of you wished she would have just yelled at you because the steady, controlled tone of her voice was far more intimidating than when she yells. You know she's angry and you can see under her hardened exterior that deep down she's scared, but her words cut into you and make you feel incredibly small. All you can do in response is nod, not trusting your voice to crack or for the tears that were building to not fall.
"Speak." She commands.
"Yes ma'am. I understand." You say with a shaking voice.
"Do you have anything to say for yourself?"
"I - I'm sorry."
Looking down into your lap you see the tears fall onto your dress. Never before have you felt so small, so insignificant. Her words felt like a sharp slap across the face. Was that how she looks at you? As something that belongs to her? Will she ever consider you an equal? Were you just looking at your relationship through rose colored glasses this whole time?
"Is that all?" You ask. Alcina pauses mid-drag and looks over at you with an unsure look on her face but you don't look up at her. "I apologize for overstepping my lady. I will make sure it never happens again. If that's all, I would like to retire to my chambers now."
It took Alcina by surprise hearing you call her "my lady" and speaking to her like every other maid in the castle. Before she could register the words coming out of her mouth she heard herself say "y-yes, that's all."
She watched you in near disbelief as you walked out of her chambers with tears streaming down your cheeks and your eyes trained on the ground. Her eyes closed as you shut the door behind you and she felt tears roll down her cheeks, the gravity of her words finally settling in.
The harsh words she spoke were out of fear. Fear for her daughters, for you, for her staff. Who knows what the prisoners family knows or how involved they really were in the hunters group. For all she knew they were regrouping in the days the prisoner has been sitting in the dungeon, getting a head start on their plans. It hurt her finding out that even after the conversation you had last night that you didn't tell her everything he said. Of course it meant a great deal to her that you told her all of the most crucial details, but such a small detail such as his family in the village going under the radar could end up being a much bigger issue in the future.
But how could you possibly know that? Alcina crushed the cigarette in her hands as she put herself in your shoes. You have no experience with groups such as these, you have no idea the true danger that they could impose if not dealt with properly. In your mind, the women in the village were just innocent lives you were trying to spare - just as you were trying so hard to spare the life of the prisoner. Alcina curses herself for being so cold towards you, for making you feel like you were her property. Like you were so far below her. Meanwhile in reality, your thoughts and opinions meant so very much to her.
She snaps out of her thoughts when she hears you crying in your bedroom. Her heart breaks once more knowing how deeply she's hurt you. She debated for a moment whether or not she should go and comfort you or give you space; but last time she did that you barely left your room. For the first time in decades Alcina feels nervous, unsure of what to do. Looking at her reflection in the mirror, she questions whether or not she'll be able to look herself in the eye if she left you in such a state again. Would she be able to forgive herself if she didn't go and try to right her wrong right this minute? Before she could even finish the thought she knows what her answer is.
Alcina removes her gloves, setting them down next to her hat and stands up, making her way out of her chambers and to your door. She debates on knocking but forgoes it and slowly opens your bedroom door. Seeing you curled up in your bed in tears breaks her heart and she makes her way to the edge of it before removing her heels and lays down behind you, wrapping herself around your tiny figure.
The sound of your door opening pulls you from your thoughts but the tears continue to fall. Soft clicks of Alcina's heels on the wood floor reach your ears before she stops at the edge of your bed. A few moments later the bed dips behind you and you feel her lay down, wrapping her arm around you and curling her knees up, cuddling you in her embrace.
Laying here in her arms feels like the complete opposite of the harsh words she spoke to you just a few minutes ago. The push and pull of emotion is almost too much to bear and you cry harder as she comforts you.
"What am I to you?" You ask through tears. "Am I just your property? Just something for you to control?"
"No." Alcina says with a heavy exhale. "You are everything to me my love."
"Then why? Why did you say those things? Will I ever be enough for you?" Alcina's grip around you tightens at your words.
"Oh, draga. You are, you are more than enough. I fear I will never be enough for you. I am so sorry for being so cold, so unloving towards you." She sniffles behind you and nuzzles into the back of your neck, inhaling your scent. "I was scared when I said those things."
There was a vulnerability to her voice that you're not sure you've ever heard before. It was like you could feel her walls crumbling as she laid behind you.
"What scared you?"
"All I could think of was that that man-things family has been continuing to plan their attack the days he was in the dungeon. That they are more involved than he said. That my girls could be in real danger. That you could be in real danger."
"But he said -"
"Darling," Alcina breathes. "One of my favorite things about you, one of the things I love most about you is that you always, always try to see the best in people. Even if it's just the smallest piece. For so many years I only ever looked at how awful, how horrible the world is. I forgot to look for the beauty, for the positive things even if they weren't the most obvious. My world has blossomed in front of me because you showed me that there is beauty everywhere, that there is always a bright side, even when it's dim."
Alcina nuzzles into the back of your neck, placing a kiss behind your ear before continuing.
"But my love, you cannot believe everything that you hear, even though you may desperately want to. I know he said they weren't involved but what if he lied? What if they were involved and play a vital hand in this attack they're planning? Maybe they weren't involved but now that half of their family has been slaughtered they decide to join in? I know you wanted to protect them, because in your world they are just innocent bystanders. That if they aren't involved then they're not a liability. When I said those things I did not take your perspective into consideration, and I am so sorry for that. But you have to know that in my world, in this world that you're in now, there are rarely such things as innocent bystanders. There are so many variables and even the smallest, most innocuous detail may seem irrelevant but could end up being a large threat to all of us.
I realize that there are so many things you don't know about what really goes on in our world and it was not fair of me to be angry with you for not knowing things you could never have possibly known. I promise that I will do better and that I will teach you more about this world we are in. But my love, I need you, from here on out, to be completely honest with me, especially about things like this. Our lives could very well depend on it."
She exhales and pulls you tighter against her chest, almost as if she's afraid that if she doesn't hold you close, you'll slip through her arms and never return.
"I may be your countess and mistress, but I am also your partner, your lover. Yes I have the final word but your thoughts and opinions hold more weight than you know. I love you so much draga mea, so, so much. And I am so sorry for hurting you again." She says as a few tears roll down her cheeks.
"I never thought of those things." You say quietly.
"I know, my love. I never should have expected you to know. After decades of dealing with these issues I forgot that not everyone that comes into this castle sees things the same way that we do."
"I'm sorry, Alcina."
Hearing her name fall from your lips brought a smile to Alcina's face. Part of her worried that her words set back so much of the progress the two of you had made. Hearing you call her "my lady" before terrified her, thinking that her harsh words broke the trust the two of you recently regain in one another.
"There is nothing for you to be sorry for, draga mea. It is I who should be apologizing to you. I am so sorry." Alcina kisses behind your ear and nuzzles into your hair again. "Will you ever be able to forgive me?" She asks quietly.
There's a hint of fear in her voice, fear that she's pushed you too far and that you won't be able to forgive her again.
Turning in her embrace, you look into her golden eyes. It surprised you to see that they were tinted red from her crying and to see the dried tears and mascara tracks down her cheeks. You wipe away the smeared makeup and place your hand on her cheek. Alcina covers your small hand with her much larger one and closes her eyes for a moment, feeling the warmth of your skin. When her eyes open again there's a hint of apprehension.
"I can't stay mad at you, even if I wanted to." You say, echoing her words from last night.
A beautiful smile crosses her face as her eyes fill with tears once more. She wraps her arms around you and pulls you into her before pressing her lips into yours and you happily kiss her back.
The two of you laid together for the rest of the day, cuddling and talking. Alcina kept her promise and talked about how even the smallest things could lead to potential disaster. She used Dorin's family as an example frequently, explaining how much of a threat they could truly possess to the castle. It surprised you just how important even the smallest details could be, especially after Alcina told you about the hunters that successfully breached the castle walls not long after she was infected with the cadou and what she had learned from each experience. The whole conversation was truly eye-opening and you understood why she was so scared when she found out about his family. By the time the conversation wrapped up you realized how truly dangerous they could be, although you still held so much guilt knowing nothing was going to stop Alcina and the girls from "taking care" of the problem.
The best thing to come out of that conversation, however, was the fact that you felt more like her equal, like the two of you were in it together rather than her ruling over you as if you were any other maid. When you expressed that thought to her, Alcina smiled and kissed you deeply, holding you close to her.
"I promise draga, one day you will be my equal. I look forward to the day you and I can rule over the castle together. It's going to take time, but I have no doubts in my mind that you are going to be more than capable of it and I know you are going to do a wonderful job."
She kissed you deeply once more, grazing her tongue across your bottom lip. You couldn't help but smile as her large tongue slipped between your lips as she poured all of the words she didn't know how to say into the kiss.
When you parted she rested her chin on your head and ran her long fingers through your hair.
"When are you going into the village?" You ask.
"Tomorrow night, most likely."
"What if there are children in the house? You won't, would you?" You ask, afraid of the answer she's going to give.
"If there are young children in the house, no. I won't bring harm to children if it can be avoided. Children are rarely a liability because they are so small and useless."
You let out a breath of relief. It would take a lot now to look at Alcina as a monster, but you would find it almost impossible to deal with knowing she would hurt an innocent child like that.
"What's going to happen to the rest of them?"
"Well it depends, if they put up a fight, which I expect them to, we will do what we have to to handle it. However, I try to keep the bloodshed to a minimum if possible so we can get a better harvest once we bring them back to the castle."
"Will you bring them back alive?"
"Perhaps, it depends on how it all happens."
"I know I'm in no position to ask for favors, but can you just try not to make them suffer?"
Alcina gives a lighthearted chuckle, shaking her head at how big and tender your heart still is.
"I promise I will do what I can to not make them suffer, draga mea. Alright?"
"Thank you." You say, cuddling into her.
"Of course, iubirea mea."
The two of you lay together, Alcina tracing the features of your face with a gentle touch, combing her fingers through your hair as the two of you sit in a comfortable silence. Just enjoying being together.
The dinner bell rings and Alcina lifts her head and looks towards the door and back to you. You look up at her golden eyes as they crinkle at the corners when she smiles down at you. Leaning down, Alcina places a kiss to your lips before you both start to get up. Alcina puts her heels back on and the two of you make your way downstairs.
The girls swarm into their seats as you walk into the dining room and you're more than a little relieved that they changed clothes and washed their faces before dinner.
"Good evening daughters. Did you enjoy the rest of your day?" Alcina asks as she takes her seat.
All three girls reply with a "yes" and start talking over each other, saying how much they enjoyed themselves. Your stomach churns when they start to talk about what they did to Dorin but Alcina cleared her throat and eyed the girls.
"Girls, I appreciate your excitement, and I am very glad that you all enjoyed yourselves, but can we please forego details?"
"Yes mother." They say in unison accompanied by apologies aimed at you.
"You know, the man-thing did say something interesting while we were tor- playing with him." Daniela says.
"And what was that draga?" Alcina says.
"He said something about how he's not going to see his youngest sister grow up and how her birthday was soon. But it got me thinking," she says, looking at you now. "when is your birthday?"
"Mine?" You ask.
"Yeah!" Daniela says.
"Uh, it's next month."
"REALLY?!" Daniela yells.
"Yeah, why? When are your birthdays?"
"We don't celebrate our birthdays." Bela says.
"Really?"
"Yeah, well none of us except for mother remember our lives before the cadou so we don't know when our birthdays are." Cassandra says.
"We have 'rebirthdays', the day that we were reborn, but we don't celebrate them." Bela says.
"Why not?"
"When you're immortal and don't age, birthdays kinda lose their excitement." Cassandra replies.
"That's fair I guess."
"But you're not immortal!" Daniela says.
"That is correct, I am not."
"So it would be so much fun to celebrate your birthday!!" Daniela says, looking over at her mother, buzzing with excitement. "Mother can we throw y/n a birthday party?! Pleaseeeee?!"
"Oh! Yes! We haven't had a proper party here in decades!" Bela says.
"That would be so much fun! Please mother?" Cassandra asks.
"I don't know girls, it's been a very long time since we've had a celebration." The girls respond with a disappointed whine and Alcina looks over at you. "It also depends on whether or not she wants us to throw her a birthday party."
"Can we?! Pleaseeeee?!" Daniela asks, giving you puppy dog eyes.
"I don't know guys," the girls groan. "I don't think I've had a birthday party since my parents were alive."
"Why not?" Bela asks.
"Because my aunt and uncle never threw me one, after a while my birthday became just another day I guess."
"That's bullshit." Cassandra grumbles and Alcina is quick to reprimand her. "Sorry, but it's true!"
"Pleaseeeee let us throw you a birthday party?! We promise it'll be the best most fun birthday party you'll ever have!" Daniela exclaims.
"I mean," you look over at Alcina who smiles back at you.
"If you are alright with the girls and I throwing you a party draga mea, I will allow it."
Looking back at the girls they look at you with excitement in their eyes. It melts your heart seeing them like this, you don't think you've ever seen them this excited before. They said they haven't thrown a party in decades and they seem so excited to have a reason to have one. Who are you to disappoint them?
"Sure, if you want to throw me a party you can. But you don't have to!"
"YEAH!!!" The girls cheer.
"Oh! Should we pick a theme?!" Daniela says.
"Themes are for children's parties!" Cassandra says.
"They are not!" Daniela argues.
"We can finally use the ballroom again!" Bela says.
"Fine if we can't do a theme can we at least do a color theme?!" Daniela asks.
"As long as it's not a stupid color like pink." Cassandra says.
"Why not?! Pink is SO pretty!"
"Pink is a terrible color theme for a party!"
"It is not!"
"Is too!"
"Oh! We also need a guest list!" Bela says. "Y/n, can you give us a list of your friends you want invited?"
"Oh, you're inviting people from the village?"
"Of course we are! It's a party!"
"Alright, alright. I didn't have a lot of friends so it'll be a small list anyway."
"The color should be black!" Cassandra says.
"Black is so dark and boring!" Daniela argues.
"Not if it's a black tie party, idiot!"
"I'm not an idiot!"
"Then stop acting like one!"
Before the argument between the girls can escalate any further, Alcina puts an end to it, telling the girls that they can all come up with ideas together, but since it is her castle, she will get the final say on everything.
"Oh here we go." Cassandra says.
"What?" You ask.
"Mother is going to take the whole thing over."
"I will not, I just want to make sure this party will reflect well on House Dimitrescu. It will be the first time in over fifty years that we will be having such an event and I will not allow it to reflect poorly on us." Alcina says.
"So she's going to take the whole thing over." Cassandra grumbles.
Alcina shoots her a look while she drinks her wine and the conversation surrounding the party continues as the girls throw out theme ideas, who will attend, what foods will be served and so-on.
Even though you haven't been a big fan of your birthday since your parents death, you have a feeling that this party is going to change that, at least for this year. Part of you hopes the girls will get it out of their system so you're not the center of attention every year for the rest of your life, especially in front of such a big crowd since the girls seem hellbent on inviting nearly everyone from the village.
As the whirlwind of the day winds down, you look forward to curling up with Alcina in bed and falling fast asleep. Much to your pleasant surprise when you walk into her chambers, Alcina is already in bed with a book in her hand. Quickly you get yourself ready for bed and climb in next to her. She puts her book down, turns off the light and pulls you into her.
"Goodnight draga mea. Te iubesc atat de mult." (I love you so much).
The purr from her chest quickly lulls you to sleep and you can barely mumble out "I love you too." before you're fast asleep in her arms.

I definitely don't need more WIPs right not for Dreamling, but sometimes it is fun to brainstorm a total nonsense fanfic-y premise played totally straight, which is why I'm fondly remembering the Cinderella Dreamling AU I brainstormed on one of the servers.
(Canon Divergence AU, because that's how I roll)
2022 rolls around and Hob and Dream are friends. Just... friends. Hob would love there to be more. He sometimes suspects, more like wishes really hard, that Dream would like more but, as usual, the guy isn't talking if he does. And Hob is too chicken to ruin the friendship they finally achieved to do something so uncouth as proposition his oldest friend.
He comes to the sad and perhaps inevitable conclusion that Dream has had all the chances in the world to say something so the only conclusion is that Hob's just not that interesting to him in that way. Stands to reason. The more Hob learns about the Dreaming and Dream's fantastical realm and all his adventures, the more Hob's almost single-minded dedication to living a normal life despite his immortality seems a bit... dull.
Enter Desire. Or Death. Or both. This is fanfic-y nonsense, after all, the point is there is a device and the device is our fairy god-person who is also sick to death of watching Dream pine from afar but is also a huge fan of chaos.
They (let's go with Desire for now, even if the trope is a bit overplayed, because it seems like their sort of thing) offer Hob a proposal. The chance to go into the Dreaming each night to woo Dream. Best of all, it will be with Desire's protection of his identity and a small amount of magic to create a persona for wooing Dream that won't be immediately obvious.
Oh, also, Dream is throwing a big fuck-off bash for Faerie or some other Dreaming ally so there's gonna be a party for weeks up there. Perfect place to slip in a new stranger. (Hob is a little charmed by the idea that he gets to be the stranger for once.)
Enter: the Knight of Roses.
Basically, Hob creates a persona into which he pours all of charm, wit, and courtier's polish from 600s years of life. If nothing else, he's having the time of his life at what is essentially a fancy magical masquerade ball where he gets to try his damndest to sweep Dream off his feet.
And it seems to be working. Hard to tell with Dream. But each night, Dream seems excited to see the Knight of Roses again.
(It is working. It's working very very well. The Dreaming is awash in flowers. Dream spends every waking moment he's not at the ball pacing his quarters, interrogating his subjects as to how in the world he can't get to the bottom of who this is, and every person who could nominally be considered his friend including his siblings and subjects are tearing their hair out with how sick they are of hearing about the Knight of Roses.
Hob doesn't hear about it though in the waking because Dream is in love with him and doesn't want to ruin any chance they might have together someday by agonizing over a mysterious guest who is probably some trick sent by Desire or Lucifer or someone to mess with Dream. He has no idea how right he is and how wrong he is not to bring it up to Hob.)
Secret Identity shenanigans ensue, of course, until we hit a breaking point with drama, tears, etc etc the usual for the trope because of course (gasp!) Hob is the Knight of Roses and there never was any need to create a separate persona because Dream was also agonizing over whether Hob was interested and Hob was so chill around him he assumed he was misreading all the signs. (Hob was working so, so hard to appear that chill around Dream.) Identities are unmasked and everyone lives happily ever after.
(But Hob is keeping the outfit once they're officially together, because Dream really, really liked the romance of the whole Knight of Roses identity but he likes it even more now that he knows it's Hob and not an evil trap laid by one of his enemies.)

Fake texts au- pt.13 bffs with the rookies+ Home alone in Monaco
Guys, who do you think the main pair should be? Cause we still have one contender yet to be revealed 😈
| Masterlist |
Arthurs P.O.V-
He walked out the door to grab your bags from the trunk of his car, when he heard the door open behind him, he thought it was Y/n so he turned around to tease the girl, "Miss me already- Oh Lorenzo!" He was surprised by the presence of his oldest brother.
His older brother looked at him weirdly but then walked up to the trunk where he was, leaning on it, "Arthur, nous devons parler," (Arthur, we need to talk,) He said, making me confused, talk about what?
He shifted again, seemingly uncomfortable, "Écoute, maman m'a demandé de te parler-" (Listen, mom asked me to talk to you-), I interrupted him too tired to have a proper conversation, I just wanted to get in the house and have dinner and talk with Y/n.
"de quoi, enzo," (what, enzo,)
"à propos de ton ami," (about your friend,)
"What about y/n?" I was even more confused now, enzo never spoke to me about Ollie, it was only that one embarrassing talk with Maman.
"Are you sure she's just a friend?" He asked making me groan, why this AGAIN. It's not like the media will leave us alone and now Maman and Lorenzo too?
"Yes, she's just a friend, Lorenzo, we're all just friends, this like Maman and Ollie all over again," I complained and cringed as Enzo raised his brow, he was definitely going to gossip with Maman about this.
"Are you sure? and are you sure you can trust her?" what the hell?
"Enzo of course, what the fuck!" Why would he even ask me that? She's been there for me through thick and thin, even when I couldn't talk to Enzo or Charlie or Maman, I could talk to her and she'd find a way to make it better.
"Arthur, not everyone has the best intentions, it's happened to Charlie many times-" How could he?!
"WELL I'M NOT CHARLIE," I couldn't stop my voice from rising, why would my brother even say something like that? My accent thickened, even if I had been media-trained, it crept up sometimes, too thick to understand when I was angry or sad, or even excited. Right now, I was definitely angry.
"J'essaie juste de prendre soin de toi," ( I'm just trying to take care of you,) he kept explaining but I was done.
"Well don't, je ne suis pas un enfant," (I'm not a child,) with that, he turned around and opened the trunk making him move away from it.
Just as I had yelled out at Lorenzo, Charles walked out of the house, he looked between the both of us confused and then walked forward in realisation, helping me take out Y/n's bags he shut the trunk and jumped up to sit on it.
Great, another lecture.
"Arthur, don't roll your eyes they'll get stuck that way," he chided, as he looked at the door, shifting a little and giving Lorenzo some space to lean on the car, they'd always been closer.
"I think Maman and Alex are interrogating Y/n right now," He chuckled, but it just made me angrier, "Like how she'd made you sit through that whole lecture with Alex, huh?" he nudged Enzo's shoulder with his elbow.
"What? why?" I asked, trying not to yell at them.
"Well, because Maman was worried Alex was-" He started,
"Non, Why is Y/n getting the lecture? We aren't even dating?" I asked still not getting why everyone was so upset over me inviting my friend. I had invited many others before.
"Arthur, that's what I was trying to explain-" Enzo began but I was still mad at him,
"You keep quiet, I'm still mad at you," He stopped explaining but grumbled about something which I didn't pay attention to.
"Okay," Charles whistled, "I think we can go inside now, boys," he jumped off the trunk, passing the backpack to me, grabbing the duffle himself and leaving the heaviest bag to Enzo.
Enzo, of course, complained about being too old for this but walked off anyways, but Charles held back, slinging the duffle over his shoulder, "You know, Princie," He'd begun using the nickname to tease me after Y/n but it had stuck, "It's the way you look at her,"
"Charlie, what-"
"And the way you talk about her, did you think Maman and Enzo missed that? You were practically jumping all week to meet her." He continued making my face feel warm. It wasn't true... of course not, he behaves the same for Oscar and Logan too, yeah, definitely.
.xX*Xx.
After dinner and the small fight, both of us were too tired to stay awake and talk as we had planned, Y/n had already thrown herself on the far side of the bed, covering herself in the blanket, and I followed.
The words slipped out of my mouth before I could realise what I was saying, "Bonne nuit, chérie." Fuck.
Y/N'S P.O.V-
I woke up without being able to breathe, I opened my eyes to see Arthur lying half on me, his arm around my waist, now I knew why Logan refused to pair up with him.
"Arthur," I whispered, poking his hand, "Arthur!" I whisper-yelled, trying to shove his arm off, my oxygen depleting fast, it was now a moment of survival, "ARTHUR!" I screamed out, making him fall off the bed in surprise, finally letting me breathe.
"QUOI! ES-TU EN SÉCURITÉ?" ( WHAT! ARE YOU SAFE?), He yelled in French, reminding me just how much I didn't know the language, "Y/n?" He seemed more awake, "WHAT THE HELL! WHAT DID YOU PUSH ME?" He yelled at me.
"PUSH YOU? YOU WERE ON TOP OF ME, I COULDN'T BREATH!" I yelled back.
His face turned red, "Oh, um, sorry, oh merde-" he cursed looking at the clock on his wall, "We're so late, Maman's going to kill me!" He got off the floor quickly, running around the room to get a new change of clothes?
"Wait, what do you mean we're late?" I asked, still dazed with sleep.
"We were supposed to go out today, we were supposed to leave by 7!" It was ten now.
Shit, that made me jump out of bed, I could not be making a worse impression on Arthur's Mom and brother, especially after last night.
"Shit, shit, shit," I panicked as I opened my bags to find clothes that fit the vibe. Unfortunately, Australia was a whole different story than Monaco.
"Where's, the bathroom?" I asked.
"What?"
"Well, I can't shower here now, can I?" I responded sarcastically making him blush.
"Uh, yeah, through here," He pointed to a door in the room and I ran in, trying not to waste any time.
I got out soon, and he ran in, both too scared to anger his mother and brother.
As soon as he walked out, hair wet and shirt clinging to his body, I rushed him out of the room, "Mate, your mum's gonna think I was seducing you or some shit," I yelled as I jumped down the staircase.
I tried to pull the door open but it didn't budge, "Arthur!" I yelled out, still pulling on the door, "It's locked." I gave up, walking away.
"What? Non non non," He looked panicked, going to the side door in the kitchen and the back door, he checked all the windows on the ground floor but they were shut too.
"They forgot us," his accent thickened, "Oh my god," he rubbed his palms across his face.
"Wait, look at it this way, now we can pull this over them every time," I laughed, making him laugh as well.
"Mate, I so want to go back to bed," I grumbled, feeling sleepy already.
"Honestly, Y/n," he scoffed, walking to the kitchen as I lay on the sofa, he came back with a large bowl of cereal, passing a spoon to me and digging in with another one himself.
"Mate, is this a salad bowl?" I asked,
"Fuck if I know," he shrugged.
We finished the cereal, looking around restlessly on what to do next, "Maybe we can call one of your brothers?" I asked, turning my head to him.
"Can't find my phone, you?" He whispered back,
"Phones out of charge," I said, making him giggle, "What?" I laughed back.
"Your phone is always out of charge," He said moving his hands around,
"It's so not!" I yelled back, suddenly energized, all sleep fading away.
"Do you want to go one twitch?" He asked jumping up from the sofa, "We can go live from Charlie's account!" He suggested and ran up the stairs to Charles's room, where he had his PC set up for the holidays.
"Don't you have your own account?" I yelled after him, following him up the stairs.
"I forgot the login," he said nonchalantly.
"And you remember, Charles'?"
"Yes"
I pulled up the dresser table chair up to the PC as he logged into his brother's account and went live, immediately pulling in thousands of viewers, all spamming the chat with various degrees of CHARLES?!?! or Arthur?!? with a few people asking about me.
"Hello, Chat! It's our Twitch era," I spoke out, making Arthur laugh, which made me laugh, we had been very giggly the whole day, it was probably the sugar from the cereal.
"Yes, my brothers forgot us at home so now we are causing chaos online!" He spoke to the audience, there had been at least eighty thousand people watching.
"Okay, so first-" I called out scrolling through my apps to open Tumblr, "We're gonna go through the f1 tags on Tumblr," I smiled into the camera as the chat went haywire, some yelling 'no' in all caps, the others happy at the decision.
Arthur on the other hand was blissfully unaware, "What's Tumblr?"
I made my best evil smile to the camera and passed the phone to him, making him scream at the number of shirtless pics, edits and fanfics.
"WHAT THE FUCK!"
.xX With Charles and Lorenzo Xx.
The brothers walked along the shops, Lorenzo holding the bags that Charles and Alex had already shopped for, "Charlie, je n'en peux plus de sacs, ça suffit déjà !" (Charlie, I can't take any more bags, that's enough already!) he whined as Charles passed more bags to him.
He had shopped in two stores, Alex in five, but Charles? He had stopped by every single store, pulling Alex and Lorenzo in and sometimes even forgetting them to run in the store by himself and come out holding at least three bags.
"Demandez juste à Arthur et Y/n de le tenir," (Just ask Arthur and Y/n to hold them,) He yelled out as he walked into another shop, for glasses this time... as if he didn't have enough from his sponsors already.
He called out to Arthur, and then to Y/n when he got no answer, and then he began panicking, "ARTHUR? ARTHUR, THIS IS NOT FUNNY!" He yelled out, standing on his toes to seek out the blonde and his friend.
Alex heard him and ran out to him, Charles following suit, wearing a brand new pair of sunglasses, "Enzo, what happened?" He asked.
"I cannot find Arthur and y/n," He looked around, with wide eyes, calling out for them, "If maman finds out w lost Arthur, we. are, dead!" He hissed at Charles.
"He's not lost," Charles tried to comfort his brother, "They're probably just shopping."
"Okay, okay," He dragged his hand through his hair, "I'll call Arthur, You call Y/n," He instructed, keeping all the bags down.
"She isn't picking up," Charles declared after a few calls.
"Neither is he," Lorenzo added, they spent the rest of the day looking for their youngest sibling and his friend, Stopping only once to grab a quick bite.
"Maman is going to kill me, Charlie!" He exclaimed it was three pm now. Their mother would be home in another three hours.
"He will be fine, Enzo, they aren't children anymore," Charles shrugged, sipping on a smoothie, texting Max on his phone as his brother continued to panic, Alex had given up long ago and was now simply taking in the Leclerc family chaos, "But yes, Maman will kill you for getting her favourite kidnapped," he continued to tease.
"THEY'RE NOT KIDNAPPED," Lorenzo yelled at Charles, turning red, "I'm too old for this," he whispered as he shoved the bags he was still holding to Charles, "Hold your own bags,"
"Enzo please," Charles cried out but stopped as Lando texted him, "What the hell?" He said out loud making the other two crowd around him.
"THEY'RE AT HOME! WE FORGOT THEM AT HOME!" He cried out and ran to their car, Lorenzo got into the driver's seat as Alex and Charles shoved their bags in the trunk and jumped into the back seat together.
"Lando just texted me, They've been live on since morning!" He yelled, getting angry, "Why on my account?" He whined making Alex slap his shoulder.
"That's what you care about?" She teased him, "You are such a middle child, Charles," She laughed and sat back.
They reached the house in record time, almost impossibly fast.
Lorenzo parked and ran to open the door quickly, Charles right behind him, ran in and up to his room, "WE WERE SO WORRIED"
"PUTAIN," Lorenzo yelled at Charles and threw a pillow at him, "You were drinking a smoothie and I was going mad looking for them!" He shrieked, and Charles fought back.
"Okay, Chat, I think Arthur is going to get his ass beat now, so byeeeee," Y/n yelled over the noise.
"NO I AM NOT-" Arthur began but was cut off by a pillow being thrown at him, cutting off the stream.

Looks at you with my eyes sitting in front of you like I'm interrogating you (but it's actually a really nice cozy room). I have heard tale of this WXwood ship. Tell me what you find compelling about the ship I'm considering joining you in WXwood land. Literally just say words at me I'm listening
Alright, very well then, so I shall! 🫡
At first, it was kind of an ironic ship for me, because they seemed like the classic "opposites attract"
But once I got digging, I found they're not actually that opposite, they share plenty of things in common and neither is actually a black or white character. Inevitably I became enthralled with this ship and now it's one of my top 3 or so OTPs.
Here's my reasoning and what I found:
1. WX-78 is actually a bit of a softie if you dig through their quotes enough. They act tough and logical to presumably hide whatever ounce of empathy they have left, that didn't escape them completely. (But they're not doing too good of a job)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Etc. They either use this uncharacteristically soft tone or hide a kind gesture or well-intentioned thought behind robotically constructed sentences and insults.
And of course, I don't have to show the quotes for machines or metallic structures, since WX openly sees them as their family and acts basically the same as Wormwood does with plants.
Meanwhile, Wormwood isn't always an empathetic creature. He can sometimes be callous, apathetic and even have favorites amongst plants (and people too), though he doesn't directly state that. He also isn't as dumb as he portrays himself to be, he definitely knows something, but either has too limited English speaking skills or is actively choosing not to say much.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He often sobs or cries when a creature dies, but there are times he reacts with either "whoops", "oh" or "too bad" like it's a small inconvenience at best.
And those are only some of the examples (I can't show them all since I'm answering this on my phone and therefore there's an image limit)
2. Here's a reason why, despite being vastly different at first, they'd ultimately become friends:
WX-78 actually likes plenty of things that correspond to Wormwood, it's likely for them to eventually settle, once they know enough about him.
And what are those things they like, you might ask?
Bees (going back to their previous quote) since WX is frankly enamored by bees, and since Wormwood blooms, there's countless of them surrounding him. if they were to hang around him, they'd hang around bees too. 👌
Their quote for green gem is: "PRESSURE AND IMPURITIES HAVE PRODUCED PLEASING PERFECTION" which is. well. Something.
They're very fond of pumpkins, describing them as: "IT HAS A PLEASANT SHAPE" while their seed as "IT IS A SOURCE CODE FOR PLEASING PLANTS" And guess who just happens to have a pumpkin skin ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The lunar affinity. WX practically WORSHIPS the moon, it wouldn't be surprising that, if they found about this aspect about him, they'd get very excited and embrace it, because c'mon, it's the moon. They have dozens of quotes describing how THE MOON IS SUPERIOR, I wouldn't be able to fit all of them into this post, just trust me on that.
WX-78 doesn't hate all organic life, besides they're just playing out a role. But they do certainly appreciate some plants, such as potatoes and lureplants. The former because they can relate to them (potato battery) and the latter because "AWW, IT'S JUST AS EVIL AS I AM". Would it be too farfetched if with his influence they'd grow to appreciate organic life more?
3. Wormwood's quote for W.A.R.B.I.S armor suggests that he admires WX and would like to mimic them. (Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery after all)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. The survivors farming animation is quite charming, I certainly loved their small interaction there. They're also shown in the official Return Of Them vignette, farming on the side.
5. I like the fact that one of them is afraid of water and the other of fire. Adds an interesting dynamic.
6. They just work. Despite wanting to "DOMINATE ALL ORGANIC LIFE" WX-78 appreciates people who can stand up for themselves. I'd guess Wormwood would be a huge pushover at first, no doubt, but with their influence, he would certainly have to grow a spine (metaphorically speaking)
Likewise, WX-78 struggles to show kindness to non-robotic creatures, because they fear they might come off as WEAK and SENTIMENTAL. Things they loathe to expose about themself. Wormwood could help them show that it's okay to love organic friends and be nice to others! (sometimes at least.)
I'd say they balance out each other perfectly and that is quite rare to see in modern pairings. While they'd definitely struggle to get along at first, they'd surely grow fond of the other one day :)
I hope this convinced you. if not, I'll try and dig up some more stuff. Then again, keep in mind that there aren't many canon character interactions besides whatever crumbs we've got from their quotes and official animations.

a Jake x fem!reader and the prompt is that Jake introduces the reader to the whole squad
YESSSSSS!!
Let me know what you thought of this in my ask box or in the comments! Feedback is always wanted!
Tumblr media
"So, Y/N I know that you want to meet the sqaudddd so I did something" this was the first thing Jake sad when you woke up next to him on Friday. "What did you do Jake?" You asked despite knowing that it would probably be something stupid. "Wellll, they don't know that I'm dating anyone, but you know who they are so that obviously has to change, you know?" "I don't like where this is going Jake, next thing you know you say that you want to pretend that I'm a criminal and introduce me in the interrogation room!" Jake quickly looked at you and very very quickly erased something from his notes on his phone. "Alrighty then, not that plan, falling through the roof? Knocking on the window? You come dressed up as Holly McClane and start to make out with me?" "No and it is Holly Gennero remember? They divorced." Jake just looked at you with those puppy love eyes. "How about I just walk in with some coffee and lunch for you? You can say you forgot it at home babe?" "Fine, boring but it came from you so it's great." He looked at the time and went to pick out clothes. Cue the whistling from your end, "My man is looking fine today, hurry up and go to work ill come around in the midday." He blew you a quick kiss before bolting out the door.
It was a pretty normal day in the precinct nothing out of the ordinary. Scully had another 'small' heart attack and holt didn't smile. Just a normal friday you would say. But Jake couldn't hide his excitement from his best friend Charles. Well Charles just assumed, and Jake spilled that there would be a surprise this midday. Let's be honest Charles couldn't keep this a secret very long and soon enough the squad all knew something would happen just not yet what would happen. Although they prepared for the worst believe me, the fire extinguisher close to Rosa was just a minor detail.
As you entered the building you walked towards the receptionist who just asked some routine questions and directed you towards the floor you boyfriend was on. Hearing the sound of the elevator Jake peeked to see if it was you, and there you were. With a cup of coffee and a sandwich from subway. Your eyes scanned the room and saw his fluffy hair which you could recognize miles away. "Jake there you are! I noticed you didn't take your food with you this morning so i thought I would visit you at work." You said while smiling at him, not noticing the eyes his colleagues gave each other in surprise that Jake had a girlfriend. "Thanks BABE! How much I LOVE you for doing this!" He almost yelled the words to make sure everyone heard it. Amy came up to him and took him away to have a small squad meeting, leaving you there to sit at his desk and sort the files why not.
"Who is that Jake? Did you kidnap her?" Terry asked worried for you. "No, that is my girlfriend from 8 months." Jake admitted to the squad. "8 months?!?!" "How did you keep this a secret?" Gina genuinely asked. "It was never a subject of conversation, at least not a serious one." You had stood up from his desk and walked to the break room. "Uhm Jake I've got to go, so unless you're going to introduce me now, I'm leaving" "Oh yeah of course."
"The scary looking one is Rosa, the big guy is Terry, the one with the boring outfit is Amy, the one with the phone is Gina, the small one is Charles and the one who never expresses emotions is Captain Holt." Jake said while pointing at each one. "It was very nice to meet you all, I hope to see you another time!" you said while leaving the break room waving and smiling. "Well Jake, I've only just met her but if you hurt her, I'll hurt you." Rosa said while smiling weirdly. "I won't I Won't.

Tumblr media
The way that you met the Cullens was, at best, not ideal. A broken down car here, the offer of a ride there. It wasn't a bad thing - the friendship you had with the family had lasted all through high school up to a local community college.
When they told you the truth about who they were, what they were, you thought it was a joke.
"Yeah, very funny. Halloween isn't for another two months, and you can't all go as vampires, that would be so stupid." You snorted, returning to the homework that was scattered on the dining room table.
"(Y/N)... Think about it." Alice placed her hand on your shoulder, forcing you to listen. How are you just now noticing her hands are so cold? "Have you ever seen any of us eat? Go into the sun?"
You didn't want to think about it, you knew they would never lie to you like this. It's too insane to be a lie. But didn't they lie and pretend like they were human? It was just all too confusing, so naturally, it took you a few days before you starting going around their house again. They answered all your questions, even when you decided to punish them all a bit for not telling you sooner.
"So, have you ever thought about the ecological damage you might be doing with all the hunting?" You had been interrogating them for hours, but honestly? They were grateful. Grateful that you didn't run off and tell the entire town, or worse, flee from Forks and lose you forever.
"Honestly, we all have different preferences." Emmett replied cooly, as if you were chatting about movies. "I prefer some of the bigger stuff: Bears, wildcats. It's mostly deer, though."
"Never people." Carlisle confirms with a smile, and you almost immediately regret giving him a chance to speak. Before their confession, the pounding of your heart was a fun secret, a dream you knew would never come true. The scenarios have run through your head all the time, anytime you looked at him. And those rare moments where you felt brave enough to make eye contact? But now, you knew that it was basically a public confession. You never talked about it. The Cullens never did, either.
"I know one of you has to know something about the Reliquary of Sainte Foy." You sighed, dropping your bag at your feet.
"Please, (y/n), come in." Edward quipped from the living room.
"I mean, this whole thing makes no sense!" You continued, thinking back to every single time you've used Edward to complain. "First, she starts off the semester with the Renaissance, then goes to modern minimalism, then back to freakin' Jesus times?"
"You know," Alice strode in, reading over the same paper, "When I have questions about art history, I usually ask Carlisle." She leaned against the counter. "He's the oldest of us." The look her and Edward shared were lost to you, as you already began to think of excuses as to why you shouldn't be alone in a room with him. The fear of looking and sounding stupid overcame the desire to just do anything with him. The desire to mess up that stupidly perfect hair of his, or his cold hands roughly wrapping around your-.
No. Absolutely not.
"Ah, no! I wouldn't want to bother him. He's probably super busy, with all of his... doctoring stuff-"
"Nonsense." Edward smiled. "He would be overjoyed to help."
"Edward, seriously, don't-" You pleaded, but it was too late. Carlisle's name echoed throughout the house, but it felt like a death bell.
"I hope you find your answers!" Alice quickly took her exit out the front door, with Edward following right behind her, with a polite "Excuse me."
"(Y/N)!" He greeted you fondly, noticing Edward and Alice's backs as they walked deeper into the forest that surrounded the house. "Didn't Edward call for me?" He was watching them, but you were watching how he saw you and immediately smiled, and the way his arms flexed on the table.
Stop.
"Yeah, he did. They insisted that you could help me with art history, but this is old, old crap, and like, yeah, you're old, but you're not that old, so it's not really..." He began to smile again. "Super important." You finished, suddenly very aware of how you were standing. And how your hand rested so close to his. And how hot your face suddenly got.
"Well, what is it you need my help with?" He took your assignment paper. "The Reliquary of Sainte Foy. Around what time was that?" He looked back at you.
"Uh, the- Jesus times. Like upper double digits for the year. Which, I mean, I don't know when you were born, but I don't think you're that old, I mean you're still fun and pretty cool." God, why couldn't you just stop talking!
"Come on." He turned his back, taking your picking up your bag and slinging it over his shoulder. "I think I have something in my office."
His office? He's taking you to his office? You've been inside of it before, but it wasn't just him and you, it was him and his kids. Just keep reminding yourself: You are his children's friend. You're friends with every single one of this man's children. You're probably not even on his radar! A (publicly) mid-30 year old local surgeon, and men that looked like him in this part of Washington was rare. And to be going after a college student? Pull it together.
The steely resolve quickly crumbled as he held the door open for you to walk past him, and if you had any doubts he could hear your heart before, they were absolutely gone. You could hear your pounding heart in your head. The office was gorgeous, a few lamps and some candles gave the dark office a warm glow, and you could see he had been actively working on... something?
"I'm so sorry, did I interrupt something?" You glanced at the papers on his desk.
"Oh, no, I was just going over some old files. You could never interrupt me."
Oh.
"Now." He began scanning a section of his large bookshelves. "I unfortunately was not born in 'Jesus times,' but I was born in 1640, and my father was an Anglican priest, so I might have something about early Christian relics." He finally pulled a large dark blue book from the shelf and handed it to you. "What about The Book of Sainte Foy? Written in 1010 A.D. and translated in 1995."
"Yes, please, that would be amazing." You replied quickly, eager to spend as little time in this room as possible.
"(Y/N), you seem stressed. If college is getting to be too much, you could always take a break." His eyebrows knit together and set the book on his desk. Your eyes followed his hand and you swallowed. This cannot be happening.
"Uh, no, it's not college! College is fine. It's just... other stuff." Your hands clasped together to try and ease some of your nerves.
"Well, (Y/N), if it's something more personal, you know you can always talk to me. I've enjoyed having you around and I hate to see you upset." You knew he was trying to ease information out of you, but his words just made it harder.
"Carlisle, I-" Oh god. No. Stop talking. His hand came to rest on your upper arm, his icy hand almost burning your hot skin. You've imagined this so many times "It's you!"
Wait. No! Keep talking! The look of slight shock and confusion on his face combined with the gentle grip he had on your arm had wiped your brain of whatever you were going to say. His hand relaxed and fell back to his side.
"Me? (Y/N), did I make you uncomfortable?" His voice was soft, but serious. Fix this, now!
"No! Well, sort of. But no! Just... listen." You rubbed the back of your neck, shifting your weight between your legs. He leaned back against his desk and looked at you.
This was going to be hard.
"It's just... You make me nervous because you know, you're like a genetically modified beauty of a human being. I mean, have you seen yourself? Actually seen yourself?"
Carlisle opened his mouth to respond but he couldn't get the words out before you continued.
"You are... gorgeous. And I know, Edward's complained to me about that whole 'Oh, our beauty just lures in innocent prey so we can destroy them,' thing, but you're just a... a genuinely beautiful person. You help people in need, you go to some extreme lengths to help people because why? Because you're a doctor and it's what you do, damn it! It's amazing. You're amazing." You took a breath, filling your lungs with all the words you've kept to yourself. "And I like your hands."
And you like his hands? That's what your confession is ending on? Okay, own it.
"You like my hands?" He questioned, biting back a smile. Of course that's what he focused on. "Tell me about my hands." He stood up off his desk and moved closer to you. You felt like the breath was being sucked out of your lungs as you tried to organize your thoughts.
"Well, they're..." His hand came up to your face, thumb grazing your cheekbone.
"Go on."
"I like the way they're..." In an effort to look anywhere else but his eyes, you glanced down to his chest. His face seemed to inch closer to yours as you searched for words you knew you wouldn't find. The hand on your face traveled to the back of your neck, and his other hand found the small of your back. Your hands rested on his biceps, your last attempt to try to cover up your attraction towards him.
"Tell me you want this." Carlisle whispered, pressing you closer to him, encouraged by your racing heart.
"I want this so bad." You admitted, and those were the words that broke the both of you. He pressed you against a bookshelf as his lips met yours, and the amount of passion coming from Carlisle was shocking. His thumb came around your neck to wrap around the front, and the simple weight of his hand caused you to moan in his mouth. He smiled into the kiss and your hands went to his hair, tugging as gently as you could.
"Jump." He whispered in between kisses. The faint taste of spearmint lingered, and you whined at the loss.
"What?" You pulled back and stared at him.
"Jump."
God, please let his vampire strength come in clutch. You wrapped your legs around his waist and his hands found the bottom of your thighs. He placed you on top of his desk, careful as to not disturb any documents or books, and pulled you in again. this time, there was something different. The kiss was more insistent, more demanding.
"More." He groaned, and slotted his head into the curve of your neck, biting gently, and kissing the same spots.
You had never seen Carlisle like this, never this... out of control.
"So, when is this paper due?" He asked, pulling you out of your thoughts. He walked back to the door of his office, laying his hand on the doorknob. You simply stared at him, still catching your breath. Did he seriously just ask that? Now? "Is it tonight?"
"No?"
"Good." He grinned at you, and turned the lock. "Because it's not getting done."

chenford thoughts, thoughts, thoughts 👀 bc i'm losing it between the promo and the interview lmao. contains s6 spoilers
this may just have been me who didn't put it together but we're getting another chenford dance ♡♡♡♡ when they showed a chenford snippet in the teaser promo idk why i thought it was them just standing there sharing a moment???? but bbs are gonna be danciiiiiiiing~~~
what if tim's "yes,i love you" is a red herring?? because i swear that right after he says it, it looks like she's about to turn and look to her right (like get confirmation of it from someone monitoring the lie detector perhaps???) i keep thinking of how alexi said they're always looking to "walk a fine line with chenford" plus what eric said in the interview about a "nice little confessional of information" at the wedding ― it makes me think that the interrogation scene does not end super well (maybe awkward, maybe angsty, maybe both?) and the resolution happens at the wedding where they're dancing and that's their first (official - bc we know their track record with firsts) "i love you"
RICHARD T. JONES TELLING ERIC AND MELISSA THAT CHENFORD WAS GOING TO BE SOMETHING WHEN THEY FILMED THAT SCENE IN 2X01!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this one made me laugh bc it felt very full circle in a way? like how grey was the one who paired tim and lucy up (i wish they talk about this one day like elaborate why he paired up everyone with who he did bc it was so interesting to learn percy had requested tim be jackson's t.o. and that clearly didn't happen) and how the actor himself was also like "yeah, that's gonna happen"
i loved that they were asked if they could pinpoint when they noticed a shift between them (and their answers, i love hearing all these different perspectives). i i think part of the beauty of the slow burn is that there's no specific point? also the way this goes back to "she fell first, he fell harder" because tim at the hallway scene in 4x22 was hit with a world of emotions and realizations after that kiss
chenford having to face the reality of what lucy being uc means will no doubt be tough but i'm so happy they're finally going to address it!!!!! they've been in such a honeymoon phase and every time the topic is brought up they pretend it's fine but it's v much not
"we had a big scene this season with each other" akljdfalsdkfjasdlfa. i'm so excited ... and a little scared lol
we know we're learning more about tim's past this season which is SOOO exciting!!!!! but i love how eric in the interview also mentions how lucy will help bring out the best in him to help him navigate that. it reminds me so much of s1 with isabel and s4 with his dad and it'll be so nice to see this again but now as a couple
"lucy's going through a set of circumstances that we've never had the opportunity to see her go through" *cries* mel's entire answer to this question makes me so excited for lucy's development. idk why but i don't think whatever she's referring to here has to do with lucy being a detective? it seems so raw and personal and it makes me wonder if we're also learning more about lucy's past too (also wondering if they're bringing back her parents for a sec 👀)
TIM STILL NOT KNOWING ABOUT LUCY & NOLAN SDFGHLADF okay but can they please give us this comedic moment because it would be gold
the mention of the moonstone ring ♡
bonus: eric being so proud of that jail tiktok is so funny and wholesome

Pet peeve / squick regarding "safewords" in sex scenes is when the author throws them into the story when 1) there has been NO build up to this, and/or 2) there is NO accompanying discussion or even brief negotiation of any kind, and/or 3) it doesn't have any relevance to anything afterwards.
Like, it is not sexy to be hooking up with someone (possibly for the FIRST TIME, what the hell) and they say apropos of absolutely nothing: "Your safeword is [insert random word here]." Because HOLD UP. Red light. Do not pass Go. What EXACTLY do you plan on doing here that makes you think we need a random safeword? Are you not going to just stop if I just say "stop" or "slow down" or "pause for a second, please"? Let's talk about this.
It's like the author is throwing this in there because they've picked up the idea that safewords are a necessary part of depicting "A Good, Safe, Consensual, Normal Sex Scene"? Or they want to feel like they're writing something "Kinky and Exciting"! Without interrogating what a safeword is actually for or why specific characters in a fictional story might be using them? And what this interaction as depicted now suddenly says about these characters and this relationship?
If this is supposed to demonstrate how "caring" a character is for another character's safety, how "thoughtful" they are, it really doesn't, especially if they don't even wait for their partner to AGREE to this safeword. That's... not great. It's bad.
I don't think there's necessarily a wrong way for real people to use safewords if they've worked out a system with their partners (really not my business); and I really don't think fictional characters need to be depicted as good examples of healthy behavior and safe choices for the audience. Maybe the characters are into this lack of communication for whatever reason! Maybe this is due to a lack of experience or bad experiences in their parts! Maybe this intentional lack of negotiation is going to backfire on them somehow! We explore all kinds of interesting things within fiction and I think it's reasonable to expect an audience to form their own opinions on a scene.
But it feels REAL WEIRD when this specific element is thrown into the mix of a story as nothing worth mentioning during or afterwards, with characters I wouldn't have expected any of this from, without any greater purpose, and as though most people wouldn't be really confused or weirded out if their new partner suddenly tried to assign them a safeword in the middle of sex. It's weird! It's so weird! My opinion is that safewords get fumbled as a concept by authors a lot.
Also, there are some characters where I'm like, "They would not fucking say that. This person does NOT have the sexual education to even know what a safeword is, much less the self-awareness to think that they might need one for any reason."

Haven't seen the trash boi Goo for a while! How bout a different girl for him, a hard-working and honest girl who works in a small convince store as her part-time job. She doesn't really like expensive gifts or stuff like that, to her spending time with her boyfriend is way more important than any sort of materialistic brand.
Thanks for the ask anon! I've missed this stupid lil idiot!
Goo Kim x Reader: Money
Goo-fy wonders why you're with him
Tumblr media
Goo is more than aware of your silly little part-time job.
On multiple occasions, he has offered to pay you himself so you didn't have to work the night shifts on your own. You thanked him, sweetly as usual, but said no anyway.
Well isn't that a pain.
How could he possibly just sit at home when he knows his darling girlfriend is working her butt off for pocket change. And think of the weird characters just like him that lurk around at night!
Goo shudders.
He makes up his mind to join you any opportunity he can.
.
.
The first time Goo shows up, you are practically buzzing with excitement. Holy crap, you're adorable.
Then you react the same the second and third and fourth time too. Come to think of it, it's every single time.
He starts to wonder if there is something wrong with you.
Yes, he is extraordinarily handsome. Yes, he is perfect. Yes, he is God's gift.
Still. No-one could be that excited to see him, right?
.
.
And what's even weirder, is the way you're looking at him and chattering away right now.
Do you even realise what Goo has offered?
He has given you complete, 100%, free rein in a shopping mall. The most high-end shopping mall in the country. It's all on him. He's got it, babe. Go shop your little heart out!
Yet... You're not sprinting towards the designer brands, you're not buying one in every colour. In fact, you're not buying anything at all.
(Goo did get you a juice when you said you were thirsty, but that hardly counts.)
You wander around with a ridiculous smile on your face, your hand in his, listening to him talk about anything and everything.
You steal glances at Goo when you think he's not looking, but he catches you every time.
No! Don't look at me! Look at this! This coat, this bag, these shoes!
It's the foodhall of all places that you two end up, seated at a little uneven table that tips on one side. Far, far below Goo's usual standard but he couldn't find it in himself to care with you next to him.
At the end of the day, you go home empty-handed, thanking him graciously for your juice, and Goo is left scratching his head.
.
.
If there are two things that Goo knows, it's how to fight and how to make money.
And you never particularly cared for his fighting skills. Sure, you're impressed. Everyone is.
Though if you don't care about that and you don't care about cash. Then... why are you with him?
Goo confronts you at work one evening.
He interrogates you about your feelings for him, about him, and you take it all with a straight face.
(You're not stupid. You don't date someone like Goo Kim unprepared for his unhinged moments.)
"-But it's good I'm rich, right?"
Of course you know what money means to him. It's not the same for you, and you try to be diplomatic about it. "Well... it's good that you can buy yourself nice things with it, I guess? But I don't need it."
Goo tilts his head, clearly confused with your response. "What? So you'll be with me even if I was broke?"
"Yup."
"If I had to wear ugly clothes?"
"Yup."
"If I couldn't take you out?"
"Yup."
"If I couldn't buy you things?"
"Yup."
"Not even," Goo looks around the store for inspiration, "this ramen?"
"Yup."
The cogs in Goo's brain stutters and stops. So then...?
You decide to put your moron out of his misery. You cup his face in your hands as he continues to look absolutely baffled.
"Goo. I don't need any of that. I just like being with you. You could make watching paint dry fun," you speak slowly and clearly, hoping that your words sink in. "You know you're also with me, right? And I don't really have any money."
As if your financial status would in any way shape or form affect his feelings towards you! Goo is appalled.
"My sweet lil honeybun, that's completely different!"
Honestly. You roll your eyes fondly and ruffle his hair.
Maybe, just maybe. He gets it. A little bit. Maybe money isn't everything-
Scratch that, money's pretty fucking important. Goo loves money. But, if he really thought about it, he loves you more.

Anime only watchers and people who aren't caught up with the Manga, BEWARE... Cuz I'm about to discuss Spy X Family Mission 89... You have been warned...! 👌
[SPOILERS AHEAD FROM THIS POINT ON]
OH MY GOSH, WHAT A GREAT CHAPTER!! 😆 (And a funny one as well!! 😂)
This chapter has probably become a new favorite of mine, so let's talk about it...!! 😄
Today's chapter follows one of my favorite characters in the series...
MY BOY, YURI BRIAR...!!! 😆
Tumblr media
And he's been reflecting on the events of the previous arc, disappointed that he couldn't stop Twilight... Officer Scarface tells Yuri to stop sulking over it because at least he was able to injure Twilight, so now the SSS is looking for anyone with bullet wounds in their right arms (which means that Twilight has to be EXTRA CAREFUL not to slip up in anyway... 😩)
As Yuri and Officer Scarface are just going about their day, Chole (happy to see her again 😆) is about to interrogate a man with a gun shot wound in his right arm... And, um...:
Tumblr media
THEY DIDN'T EVEN HESITATE!! DAMN...!!🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
But Scarface tells Yuri to just go ahead and assist Chole with the interrogation, which goes as you'd expect from Yuri when he does his job... 😅
Tumblr media
THAT FACE ALONE IS ONE OF THE MANY REASONS I WOULD NOT WANT TO MESS WITH YURI (or the the Briar siblings in general...!! 😵)
Anyway, after interrogating that guy, Yuri and Chole go to investigate the address that Yuri scared out of him... And on their way there, find out that Chole and Yuri WENT TO SCHOOL TOGETHER!! 😆
Tumblr media
If doesn't full more fire for Chloroform (the Yuri x Chole ship name that saw from @tare-anime 😁) to be even more of a thing, then I don't know what will...!! 👌😌
As they drive to their destination, Yuri can sense Yor (and by sense, I mean smell 😅) walking by and immediately ducks down. Chole questions why he did that since they aren't even wearing their uniforms and could've just told Yor that they were dating...!! 😏 But Yuri declined that idea because he still wants to do whatever he can to help Yor like what she did for him... And then, Chole says something that I agree with:
Tumblr media
I don't know when or how, but I hope that Yuri will one day leave the SSS (like how I hope that Yor and Loid leave their jobs or just retire someday) and hopefully find happiness...! 😊
Moving on from that, they find the place that they were looking for and Yuri rushes in guns a blazing and does some questionable fighting techniques in the process...:
Tumblr media
Yuri, I-- H-How did you do that...? 👏😂
After using his Street Fighter-esque Yor Fu, one of the guys there tries to sneak attack Yuri, but then...
Tumblr media
...CHOLE COMES IN WITH THE ELBOW AND SHUTS THAT SHIT DOWN...!!! 😆
And then she...
Tumblr media
...SLAPS THE SHIT OUT YURI (TWICE...)
Tumblr media
...And gives him some advice...!!
I loved what Chole says to Yuri about how he could die on the job and what that would do to Yor it that ever happened (and that exact thought was most likely what was going through Twilight's head during Mission 83... 🥲) Chole is most definitely a keeper and a real one...!! 👌😤
Lastly, after a long day Yuri is training at his place when Yor comes to visit and brings him some food...!! 🤗 As Yuri scarfs down the food Yor brought, he thinks to himself about what Chole said:
Tumblr media
But before the chapter ends, Yor tells him that Loid is the one that made the food that she brought over, Yuri spits it out and starts thinking of other ways to get rid of Loid!! 🤣
And that was Mission 89, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!! 😆 I'm glad that we got another Yuri focused chapter after all this time (Mission 41 being the first Yuri lead chapter) and got to see more of Chole!! 😁 Yuri never fails to make me laugh and this chapter was no exception (heck, even Scarface had me laughing at beginning of this chapter!! 🤣)
As usual, I'm excited for the next chapter and wonder what's gonna happen next...!! 😄 But if I had to pick one thing that I'm looking forward to see in future, it'll have to be seeing my little weird dude finally growing as a person...!! 😊 (And grow to like Loid, eventually...!! 😌)
That's pretty much all I gotta say about this chapter, so until the next Mission... Take care, be safe out there and be kind to one another...!! SEE YA!! 👋😄

↳ Alternatively, where Yeonjun’s flirtatious nature leaves you no choice but to doubt his evident feelings for you and, in turn, dismiss any emotions you may be developing for him
‣ warnings?: reader is just,,, confused all the time, prob poor attempts of 'flirting' bc idk how to flirt, side characters may potentially be more entertaining than the mains, otherwise nothing really!

Over the years you've spent at Hogwarts, your love for Herbology has blossomed into a deep passion. Contrary to what your peers say about the class being boring and useless, you believe they couldn't be more wrong. Herbology is an underrated and misunderstood subject that offers unique elements not found in other classes.
At first glance, certain plants looked welcoming, but from what you’ve learned, the most attractive herbs can be the most deadliest. This could even work the other way around. Growth patterns of the plants can directly affect its magical properties, which explains why the professors created emphasis on the care for plants.
Although Herbology looked like any other ordinary subject at Hogwarts, there were a lot more layers to its content. You suppose this was the reason why you grew to love the subject.
“What’s the difference between you and those flowers over there?”
Enter Choi Yeonjun. The main reason why advanced Herbology isn't the perfect class for you, and you mean that in the kindest way possible. Yeonjun is something else. While you hope to simply enjoy the class, he sees it as an opportunity to engage in endless conversation. You once joked with him that his voice could win a competition against a mandrake for being the most ear-piercing, but, surprisingly, he took no offense to this.
To make matters worse, a significant portion of his chatter is dedicated to shamelessly flirting with you. Despite months of this routine, he always finds new ways to keep things interesting, and you have to admit, it's quite impressive.
It was strange how all this had even started. You and Yeonjun were only familiar with each other because he was childhood friends with your fellow house member, Changbin. But after an encounter with the pair at Hogsmeade, Yeonjun started becoming quite adamant about making his presence known to you. And regardless of his motives and advances, you’ve, since then, been choosing not to indulge in his actions.
If you were given a knut every time someone asked you why you never gave him a chance, you’d be rich. Hell, you’d be bathing in galleons if you did, because this was Choi Yeonjun we were talking about. The one and only Choi Yeonjun who could practically steal hearts without the use of some silly charm pulled straight out of a textbook. He was reasonably one of the most attractive guys in the entirety of Hogwarts and his personality was one to adore, so you weren’t surprised with the persistent interrogation of those interested in him.
Though every question was worded differently, each one becoming more and more creative than the last, you hit them with the same, lazy explanation that you knew never left them satisfied.
“I just don’t see him in that way.”
Yeonjun stands by your side, hands comfortably nestled in gloves, which completely disregards Professor Longbottom's instructions that the gloves were not necessary for today's class. He looked ridiculous being the only one wearing the heavy-duty gloves. You hold back a laugh as your gaze follows his pointing finger, which leads you to a cluster of asphodels.
You look up at him, “One is an accessory to a deadly sleeping potion.” You’re cleaning up your area, making sure dirt is only where it was supposed to be.
“Y/N, c’mon~” Yeonjun whines, “Just play along.”
“Okay,” you huff, “What is it?”
Yeonjun stands quietly for a short moment, lips pressed together, “Now you made me forget what I was going to say, but it was something about you being pretty.” Yeonjun turns to put some pots away, leaving you unamused.
Although Yeonjun continues to make such advances, you admit that his playful personality was endearing. Just a few months ago, you regarded Yeonjun as nothing more than an annoyance, constantly looming around even when unwelcome, sort of like a wedgie. However, as time passed, you couldn't deny the odd bond that had formed between the two of you.
Just recently, you had reluctantly admitted to yourself that he’s grown on you to the point where you realize that the day would feel incomplete without his babbling. On a good day, you might even consider him your friend.
When Yeonjun returns, he flashes you a smile, “Do you have any plans for the weekend? Maybe I can take you to Hogsmeade.” He bends down slightly and reaches out, “You have a bit of dirt on your nose.” You feel his finger graze your nose for a quick second before it’s back at his side.
“I’m afraid I already do,” you hummed. Since the period has ended, you grab your belongings and take your leave. With no surprise, Yeonjun is trailing closely behind you.
Yeonjun’s lips were moulded into some sort of pout, brows furrowed, “Maybe the week after?”
“I have plans that week, too,” you say promptly, though you weren’t even entirely sure if you did, “Sorry, Yeonjun.”
Yeonjun narrows his eyes at you but you don’t catch him doing so. Instead, you’re dead set on finding your best friend Yena by the courtyard. Before Yeonjun could let out a sigh, he takes a big step forward and spins so that he’s facing you. Yeonjun executes this with ease. He’s quick on his feet and the next thing you know you’re walking into his chest.
“Don’t apologize.” Yeonjun grabs your wrist and swiftly pulls you to the edge of the hallway so you both aren't blocking the stream of students, “There’s always another week…” He pushes his lips towards one side of his face, eyes looking to the side. He was deep in thought, “Maybe you can come to the final game of the season? I know your house isn’t playing but it would be nice to have the support… I’ll even let you wear one of my extra uniforms… maybe some facepaint?” Yeonjun’s eyes light up at the thought.
“Yeonjun,” you say sternly.
“As a friend?” Yeonjun’s head is tilted to the side, brows knitting as he brings his lips into a pout, “Please?” His eyes pour into yours, making it hard for you to avoid his gaze. He’s waiting intently on a reply.
“I’ll… think about it,” You stall.
Yeonjun smiles, satisfied with your answer. Before he speaks up once again, he hears his name being called from across the hall. It was Wooyoung.
“I’ll see you later, beautiful~”
You groan and call out before you’re out of ear’s reach, “What did I tell you about pet names, Choi Yeonjun!”
Yeonjun turns to acknowledge you, but instead of saying anything to excuse himself, he sends you a wink before reaching his friend.
As expected.
°•. ✿ .•°
pls remember that this is a teaser and I'll be posting the full fic soon! thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed it! let me know if you'd like to be added to the taglist!

@ Anakin Skywalker × Female!Reader
— english is not my first language; I'm just trying to practice don't pay attencion to this please
⚠️ mentions of rape and violence
tags: angst and a little of confort
Summary: Someone tried to rape reader while Anakin was on a mission, the last thing that the reader wants, is to talk about it. — ao3
Anakin was coming back from a successful mission, joking around with Ashoka about how many droids they destroyed, a normal habit. He was so excited from coming back home that he couldn't suppress his smile; but Obi Wan, who received them, wasn't happy.
While the others masters looked like always, serious. Obi Wan looked at Anakin with worried eyes.
" Is something wrong, Master? " Anakin asked, a little disappointed for not seeing you on the platform waiting for him, he wanted to be with you so bad. Stepping far from the others, finally his master answered.
" Promise me that you are not going to freak out " Obi Wan pursed his lips, while Anakin frowns with a confused look.
" Why? " Anakin tried it to make a smile to hide his bad mood , if he was going to be sent to another long mission, he was not going to be able to bear it. Obi Wan gave him the look—I'm not going to answer until you promise—. " Okay, I promise. What happened? "
Obi Wan sighs before telling him that in the last gathering you showed up trying to hide some bruises on your body, and when Obi Wan interrogated you about it, you only said that it was nothing. Obi Wan couldn't just ignore it, you were a Senator and if you were in some kind of danger, he should inform it.
And he knows that you are close to Anakin, probably more than you should,  seeing how his padawan left barely he ended the sentence, confirmed his thoughts.
In your room, a sweet cup of tea aromatizes while you're reading papers from work. Your clothes hid the bruises on your skin, even though it had been a few days they still hurt when you pressed them. Knowing Anakin was arriving today, the concerning feeling about how you were gonna pass unnoticed makes you wanna throw out.
Lying to Anakin wasn't one of your favorites activities, at all. However, telling him the reason for your bruises could ruin everything, could make him hate you. And that was the last thing you wanted.
Even though you spent the last few days figuring out how to deal with this, when Anakin appeared in front of you, you realized that you weren't prepared at all. Getting inside of your room, Anakin didn't hesitate in grabbing your hand and lifting up the sleeve of your dress, watching the bruises of differents colors caused a huge impact on the jedi. You tried to hide them with your other hand but Anakin didn't allow it.
" Who did this to you? " His eyes full of anger made you swallow, trying to keep calm.
" It's okay, Anakin. It's not a big deal" with a smile you stand up, your heart beat painfully. This was not going to work.
" It's not okay, and you know it. Tell me who the person is." He wasn't asking, you avoided his touch, feeling that your disgusted skin didn't deserve to be touched for no one you loved. Maybe If you revealed a little of the truth he would let you forget it.
" I really don't know"
But Anakin didn't let you get away, trapping you between the desk and his body, your hand covered by his gentle touch made you wanna cry.
" How did this happen?" He was so close that you could feel his breath, your eyes down revealed that you didn't want to look at him. Nevertheless Anakin wasn't going to give up "Love, how did this happen?"
Feeling like you were collapsing, your cheek was held by Anakin, you looked up with a miserable expression.
"Can't we just forget about this? I really don't want to talk about it." You wanted Anakin to hold you close enough to wipe the dirt off your body.  He did, he hugged you around your waist and hiding his head on your shoulder.  After a long time, you finally felt safe.
You weren't prepared to relive that night, and Anakin could feel your pain, promising himself that he would find the person who hurt you and pay for It.

☆ Welcome home Neighbor~! ☆
-----------
After having rapid-fire questions shot at you, You begin to feel eyes on you where ever you go.
Chapter 5/?
Word Count: 3178 Out of 12,499
Now that everyone had gathered in Barnaby's house, you really felt small, despite being a totally reasonable human height, it didn't help either that Julie had not left your side. Her opting to sit on the floor while you tried to feel comfortable on the couch with all their eyes on you, Wally still seated beside you with his intense stare.
You let out a nervous cough to try to get the conversation rolling, might as well get their questions over with if they were going to keep staring.
“Uh, so, my name is Y/n, as you have all heard I'm sure,”
Your hands tried desperately to fiddle with anything, you could practically hear your heart in your ears as it felt like it was in your stomach. It was times like these you really wished you stayed near Howdy,
    “And I'm a human, I don't know how I got here haha…”
Frank who is currently holding his book reached for a pen that was conveniently on the table and began to write things down if your heart wasn't already pounding hard enough it just got worse. This really felt like an interrogation more than a  “Welcome to the neighbourhood” get-together.
Julie was the first to speak up after you spoke, she grabbed lightly onto your arm that was resting on the ledge of the couch excited, she reminded you of your younger cousin.
“Is that why your so warm all the time?”
It was a valid question of her to ask, her skin was felt so it was likely she didn't produce her own heat, the thought though still made a chill go up your spine at just how different you were from your ‘neighbours’
After that unpleasant thought left, you resumed the conversation with Julie,
“Yeah! Humans normally stay at a temperature of like, 98 degrees, anything above 99 is when we get sick,”
Julie's eyes practically shone with curiosity, she was still latched onto your arm as she looked like she was about to speak again before Frank interrupted her,
“Why do you need to stay so hot? Is the climate colder where you are located?”
His eyes looked like they were analyzing you as he held his pen above his notebook, the bar for answers was clearly high and you weren't exactly the best in biology.
“Some places are cold, while some are hotter, but it really depends on where you live,”
Your eyes moved to the shag floor Barnaby had, stimming lightly by tapping your foot, the bouncing provided you comfort until you looked back up to see all their eyes were again on you, ah.
“And that, why do you move like that?”
Frank was writing but seemed to let his questions flow freely as you opened up more to them,
“Like what?”
You stopped bouncing your leg after he asked that, suddenly feeling abnormal as a blush went to your face, you didn't know there was anything wrong with how you moved but maybe there was?
Howdy after noticing you getting flustered proceeds to also put his two cents into the conversation,
“He dont mean no harm in askin’ Y/N, Your just…”   He paused, thinking of the right words,
“More, articulated than we are, if that's the right word,”
Wally of course had to share his opinion while Howdy was talking, ruining the one opportunity for you to be calmed down.
“faster too, why do they make you so fast anyways,”
Ignoring Wally again, you responded to Howdy, you felt a little less flustered at his clarification,
“Well, I have bones- ah, I guess wires would be more accurate for you guys, and… harder stuffing, that makes my legs and fingers move as they do,”
Howdy gave you a closed-eyed smile before returning to idly chatting with Barnaby, you hadn't even noticed Barnaby stopped staring, Julie focused her attention now on your hands as she grabbed and gently moved your fingers around.
You didn't mind the feeling so you just let her have her fun as you focused back on Frank,
“Ahem, Yes, I meant no offence Y/N, Thank you for answering. Now, If you don't mind me asking How did you get here?”
Just as you had thought all eyes were off of you, Barnaby and Howdys chat ended and they both seemed to tune into the conversation you and Frank were having, even Eddie seemed eager to know.
“Ah.. well, I don't really know myself,”
You had to lie. Lying to Howdy made you feel bad but this just felt necessary, Wallys staring provided you no help though, you felt as if he could see through you.
“One minute I was walking my dog and the next I was here, I don't know what happened to my dog of course,”
You feigned being sad, even going as far as creasing your eyebrows to further the effect. Julie at least bought it and moved to put her hand on your shoulder in consolation,
“ ‘M sure if they're anything like you Y/N they're doin' just fine!”
You gave Julie a smile, you turned away from her looking back at Frank and you heard her mutter something,
“Who knows maybe they found puppet dogs..!”
Okay, she made you laugh a little, she really reminded you of your cousins that would visit during the holidays. Your audible laugh made Wally's smile grow wider as if that was possible.
“I like your laugh, it's very nice..”
You knew he was probably trying to be nice but you couldn't help not responding, choosing to offer him a smile as well instead of outwardly thanking him. You weren't impolite but you didn't particularly like his vibes, he gave you a feeling of Deja Vu you couldn't quite place.
“I was though really freaked out when I got here, I didn't know where I was and puppets aren't exactly.. Sentient like you all where I'm from.”
Frank took great interest in that, vigorously returning to writing as Howdy let out a small laugh from the kitchen barstool he sat at,
“You can say that again! When you saw me you looked as if you saw a ghost, kickin’ an screamin’ too as I tried to help ya!”
The memory of the previous day hit you and you realized one key flaw in the story you told them all just now.
You told Howdy you were looking for your cat.
If he had noticed he gave no clue about it, his face holding the same smile it always had with his dark green blush still present. You hoped he didn't notice, that would be awkward considering you were staying with him for the foreseeable future.
You tried your best to hide your realization by feigning a laugh as you continued to speak,
“Haha, yeah… I was a bit shocked but you all seem very friendly,”
Eddie smiled and spoke for the first time since he had arrived,
“Your very pleasant yourself Y/N! Even if we did literally run into each other first meeting!”
You laughed along with Eddie, he was probably one of the people you felt you could genuinely trust here. You didn't know if that was because you genuinely liked him or if it was because he looked most like a human, maybe both?
“You're a swell kid’ Y/N!”    Barnaby also spoke as he shuffled back into the living room with a plate of cookies, as he set them down he gave you a genuinely warm smile,
“You can stay as long as you need while we figure’ out a way to getcha’ home!”
He moved one of his big paws across Wallys' head to ruffle your hair, making a mess out of it. Not like he could do any more damage than what's been done, of course, you haven't had a proper hair brush in a day or two.
You stuck your tongue out at the Blue dog once he had finished messing up your hair, your hands quickly making work of trying to somewhat fix it before Wally let out a laugh,
“ha ha ha, would you like some of my hair product neighbour? it may help the tangles,”
…Alright that threw you for a loop. You had expected Wally to need some sort of hair product, especially with his pompadour, but you hadn't expected him to notice you needed help with yours so quickly.
“Uh sure Wally, that would be great actuall-”
Before you could finish Julie was again on your arm like a child with their mother, jumping up from her spot on the floor as she made deadly eye contact with Wally,
“I wanna do their hair! We could have a Spa day Y/N! Doesn't that sound fun?”
“ha ha, Julie i think Y/N would rather have me style their hair..”
Were they fighting to spend time with you..? You turned to Wally and saw the same pleased smile on his face that was always there, but there seemed to be a light eyebrow crease on his face, even if he had none.
You turned to Frank and Eddie for help, but Eddie and Frank were too focused on each other it seemed, with Frank holding Eddie's hand as he showed him the notes he was taking..
..Gay puppets, ‘good for them’ you thought.  Your last hope being Howdy and Barnaby… Who where gone and cooking something in the kitchen?
With a sigh you felt something grabbing at your other arm, seeing Wally holding on while staring Julie down, If you didn't do something soon they might just fight to see who gets to have human time.
“Uh… how about we all hang out?”
Julie finally stopped basically baring her teeth at Wally and looked at you, her eyes sparkling with excitement again,
“We could have a Group Spa day!!”
…Okay yeah that worked! Maybe through that, you could understand Wally a bit more in the process,
“Mhm! Though Wally for now I would maybe like a hairbrush at least until we could do the Spa day,”
Wally looked at you with his black eyes and nodded, his smile never ceasing, he did though seem entranced by the way your skin felt under his hands, his little felt fingers tapping on your arm.
“of course neighbour! ill grab it and run it to howdy tonight,”
His sleepy eyelids drooped again now that he had relaxed at the prospect of a joint spa day, Happy to have eased the tension between the two you looked at the clock that was on Barnabys' wall.
“It is getting a bit late though, So Julie is it okay if we do it tomorrow? I think i would enjoy it properly when im not tired”
Julie shook her head excited as always,
“Of course of course! I'll go home right now and prepare!”
She sprang up and went for the door, not before announcing her leave, even if she was excited she was also polite to Barnabys' hospitality.
Howdy emerged with Barnaby close behind, he took a look at the clock and made eye contact with you from across the room,
“Ya ready to call it a night Y/N?”
Howdy was an angel incarnate you decided. You nodded and stood from the couch, Wally at the loss of your arm stared at his hand, seemingly startled by how the feeling of warmth left his fingers.
“Yeah! Thank you for inviting me over Barnaby, and it was a pleasure to meet you Frank,”
You held your hand out for him to shake, and he returned the handshake..
…Though he held on a bit longer than expected, he seemed to be analyzing your hands, Eddie being the kind soul he was gently tapped Frank and he let go.
You left Barnabys, following Howdy as you both walked back to the Bugdega.
As you passed the red house with eyes you walked faster and stayed a bit closer to Howdy than normal, Howdy paid no mind to it though as he seemed to be lost in his own head, he stared at the stars with his lower arms crossed while his upper tapped his chin.
“...Something on your mind Howd’s?”
Your stomach dropped as he looked at you with a worried expression taking hold of his features, he was one of the few with eyebrows so it was easy to tell when he was distraught.
“Just a small thing… truthfully its nothing!”
He knew, didn't he?
“Look I'm sorry Howdy, it just slipped my mind and i-”
“It's okay! I just thought humans had to eat consistently or they would struggle to walk?”
…what
Your confusion must have been evident as he wrapped an arm around your shoulders, which was probably the best he could do at the height difference.
“When we get back to the Bugdega im makin’ sure you eat! Even if I'm not the best cook,”
You let out a laugh of relief, Howdy was just concerned because you hadn't eaten. Oh bless his heart, this man was probably the walking definition of sweet as candy.
The rest of the walk to Howdys shop was enveloped in a comforting silence, The red house being long forgotten behind you now.
It didn't forget you though.
—---------------------------
Howdy will swear up and down he's not a good cook but the dinner he made you proved otherwise. For a man who held no taste buds himself he cooked a damn good Spaghetti.
You sat on your cot restless as the grandfather clock ticked on and on, you knew by now Howdy was asleep in his room, which you had now learned was connected by the small hallway branching off of the living room you were in.
He didn't wrap you completely this time but he offered to tuck you in, he meant well of course but you simply blushed and politely declined. You had a feeling if he tucked you in you wouldn't be able to move at all, and maybe that was the reason why he did it?
Either way, you put it you were still awake in his living room, not able to sleep. Wally had never brought you a hairbrush and the mats that were forming in your hair were uncomfortable.
So with cautious steps, you walked back up the stairs to go to the bathroom, aiming to get a few sips of water from the sink before you tried to rest again. You got your water and smoothed down your hair again, your nails getting caught in the knots that formed in the back.
However, even after doing that, you didn't feel like going to sleep, as you walked out into the Shop you lay your head down on the smooth, cold counter.
You don't know what was so nice about this counter but it felt well-loved and cold. Even at times like these, you preferred sleeping on top of a cold pillow.. Or counter in your case.
As you lay there and daydreamed for a moment or two, you felt a small thought nagging at the back of your head,
Did your jacket always have this many pockets?
You had owned this jacket for years, of course, it was your favourite after all, especially for when you and your friends would go on adventures.
That's why you liked it so much, it could hold a lot while still letting you move around quickly.
As you felt around your jacket and smoothed out any sections that felt off, you heard something crinkle as your hand passed over one more time for good measure.
With curious eyes, you opened your jacket to look at the inside pockets, and it looked like it was… sewn shut?
That was odd. The only person who owned sewing kits that you knew of was Howdy, and he wasn't the type of guy to go in your clothes. And even then, why would he stitch up a pocket?
You picked at the stitching though and were able to pull whatever was sealed inside out, suddenly everything came back all at once.
Like a suppressed memory you remembered why the house was so familiar. And why Wally staring shook you to your core.
He was the one who sent you here.
He had to be. After all, he has been giving you awful feelings of Deja Vu since you arrived, not to mention he practically sent you into a PTSD episode the first night you met.
Lost in your panicked thoughts as you unfolded the papers, you heard a knocking at the Store door, only to see Wally Standing there.
It was late in the night. You were terrified and alone.
Except you weren't, Howdy was just downstairs, and you knew this now.
The knocking began again as you looked back at the doors, He held something in his hand, and you didn't care to find out what it was. In the shadows, he looked like nothing more than a figure with eyes, and you weren't going to find out what he wanted.
You frantically flung the office door open as you ran through, practically tripping on your own feet as a cold sweat went down your spine. The metal door hit the wall with a loud “BANG”.
You heard the glass doors of Howdys shop opening as you ran, damn Howdy for not locking his doors!
You ran down the steps as fast as you could, and you weren't one to invade a man's privacy but you had no choice.
You ran to where Howdys door was and knocked frantically, you had no clue what time it was but you knew by now Howdy was definitely asleep.
You heard shuffling both behind and in front of you as you desperately held onto Howdys door handle, seconds away from opening it yourself before Howdy opened it, clearly still groggy and startled.
“Y/N..? Whats wron-?”
Before he could finish his sentence though you shot behind him, moving under his arms to get into his room before finally falling and breaking into hyperventilating.
Howdy must not have seen anything because before you knew it he was shutting the door and clicking on a lamp, as he crouched in front of you his arms where held in the air, almost as if he was approaching a frightened animal.
“Woah! Woah love’bug, calm down your alright,”
You sat up from your spot on the floor and with a paranoid mind hugged Howdy tight, still sobbing into his pyjama shirt, terrified.
“Its alright, Your okay, Bad dream?”
…You didn't want to explain to Howdy what had happened, yet. So you simply nodded and curled into his touch, you felt like a child.
“Your okay. Get some shut-eye Y/N, Your safe.”
Without much complaint, you nodded off as Howdy scooped you up off the ground and placed you on his bed, the last touch you felt being his hand on your head as you dozed off into a peaceful sleep.
The feeling of eyes was gone for now.

TMNT Headcanons: Weaknesses
Leonardo cannot cook! I repeat, LEONARDO CANNOT COOK!
Leo definitely does not know his way around a toaster, Donnie has to repair it often, it started off so early during his teens, too. It's also one of the reasons why Mikey is coined as the family chef.
"Don't touch! Shoo!" Donnie exclaims as he slaps Leo's hand away from the toaster. It would be so funny, especially in the 2007 universe.
Leonardo getting back from a long ass trip abroad and coming home to electronics, oh my goodness. I headcanon that he would feel off about NOT hunting for food. Definitely had pizza withdrawal, and tried to mimic the taste (something Mikey would do,) back in South America with mushy berries as the pizza sauce, spoiler: it doesn't taste the same.
Donatello is terrible at social cues. Like, he doesn't read the room very well at times. Especially 2012 Donnie.
***THE blueprint of "Oh she passed away? Um...anyways so,"***
Yall remember when Mikey was literally on his deathbed in the lair and April texted Donnie about where Leonardo was so he decided to cheer about the fact that April texted him,
Donnie: "Oh this is the best day!"
Mikey: *on the couch debating his life choices up until this point*
Donnie: "Oh...well, its had its ups and downs :)"
A LOT of times in the show he gets all scientific during different crises', its seriously comical. Definitely will talk about the laws of physics whilst sneaking around TCRI, gets really excited over alien technology...too excited. He got the spirit, just terrible timing LMAO
Raphael's comebacks are always SOOOO out of pocket. Like, even he takes a second to reevaluate his cleverness.
2003 Raphael fits this headcanon like a glove. Mans really made a "yo mama" joke while being interrogated, you can't say he wasnt a goated character.
Clowns Donnie's inventions ALLL the time, doesn't matter what it is.
and Donnie better hope Raph doesn't catch him using them either.
"Ya're a genius, but damn, bro. A big red button? Look, Mikey, we're savin' tha world with a button! Whoop dee do."
cue the Shellraiser shooting missiles at whatever threat they're facing.
He also jumps the gun on his comebacks...case in point ^^
Also clowns Mikey for being Mikey, especially 2012 mikey.
Raph" "God, I didn't think a mutant could be uglier than Mikey over there!"
Mikey: "Hey! I'm right here!"
Michelangelo has TERRIBLE timing. I mean, cracks a joke during serious moments type of timing
He celebrates wayyyy too early. Always, always, ALWAYS! Definitely bayverse mikey!
Him & his brothers will literally be fighting the Foot & he’s all “AWWW YEAH!” when the soldiers are clear, just for the final bosses to come out the cut unexpected.
Beatboxes while in life-threatening situations, not that it’s a weakness, it’s just NOT the time, Leo let’s him know that.
Overdoes his jokes a lot of the time, ‘specially when it comes to April- when they first cornered her after she took a pic of them? Yikes.
Exchanges like this when they watch a movie or show with any female, what? They’ve only been around April!
Mikey: “Guysssss lil Mike is tingling oohhh!”
Donnie: “Lil Mike?”
Mikey: “Yeah, what? You guys didn’t name your di-“
Leo: “alright time to go,”
Out of all the brothers, I think Leonardo’s headcanon is the funniest!
