Lucy is … Lucy, he knows that doesn’t make sense but it’s the best way to put it. If he absolutely had to define it, he’d say she’s his friend, a good friend. Except, Angela’s his best friend and the role the two women have in his life while similar is significantly different. He’d walk to the ends of the earth for them, he’d do anything for them except of the two, only one of them seems to be his voice of reason (and it’s not the one who he occasionally fears).  For everything he’s taught her, she’s taught him something too. He knows the hardships they’ve face within the last year are ones that can make or break someone, how they’ve come back stronger from it, and have been able to continue on because of how they’ve been at the other’s side. He’ll never admit it but he knows she’s become his guiding light, the one who reminds him to let his guard down just enough to see the good that surrounds them, the one who doesn’t know the depth of just how she’s helped him heal from some of the trauma that he carries. “To help people cope with the end of a relationship.” Her words play back in his mind and he realizes how she was more than a few steps ahead of him throughout the entire day. His statement about seeing each other tomorrow at roll call remains true but he’s suddenly thankful for the five stages of grief she walked them through during their shift. While planned for him, Tim knows that Lucy needed it as much as he did. It was the distraction she needed in order to not spiral to worst case scenario over the Amber Alert for the missing baby. One that took an unexpected turn as Tim draws a sharp breath at the memory of her first prank of the day.

They didn’t always go to bed together, but they always woke up together. And as much as Lucy loved the nights that they went to bed together, the middle of the night wakes up always held a special place in her heart. She loved the feeling of comfort and would breathe a sigh of relief when she would hear the door open and Tim would enter, trying to be as quiet as possible. She’d smile softly upon feeling him enter their bed and wrap his arms around her as he buried his head against her neck, breathing her in and finally reuniting with her after a long day apart. He’d kiss her shoulder softly and remind her how much he loved her. And Lucy would lay there in his arms and close her eyes knowing, without a doubt, she was loved.
