I think that... instead of changing our home dashes or making for you pages, Tumblr should add a function that is like reblogs but call it "zeitgeist." And you click it like a reblog, and it goes into the zeitgeist.
The zeitgeist is a separate dashboard that just is everything that was put into it, so it'll be a whole new hoard of posts from every active corner of tumblr every time you refresh. Whenever you're bored just tap into the zeitgeist. People will put stuff there like 37 times and you'll still have posts between them it'll be great (or it can be the only place with mandatory shortened posts, to prevent Color Of The Sky spamming, but only shortened posts, none of this "last few comments" thing. If you want to have embedded comments, have them in the replies so I can have a conversation without @ing them and digging for the last reply because it's functionally unusable if too many people engage)
Anyway.
create the zeitgeist you wish to see in the world.

Hey folk - I don't have a tip jar or anything for the blog, but I do support it and the general research work I do through Patreon! If you're appreciative of the content I produce here, even a $1 pledge would be a huge help.
This Patreon supports not just the blog, but the time I spend studying animal legislation, litigation, and regulation, the conferences I attend, and the formal research papers I publish. I don't get any external funding for my work, and it's all done in addition to my day job as a freelance fact-checker.
Right now, I'm working on three separate original research projects, all of which I plan to submit for publication in a peer-reviewed academic journal. Patreon funding is what pays for the time it takes to do this extensive, in-depth data collection and analysis, as well as write the paper and pay the (very high) fees to publish it open-access where anyone can read it for free.
The current papers in progress are:
An examination of all the different ways zoo businesses are defined in the United States, and why it matters (legally, practically, within the industry itself, etc).
An examination of the different definitions of an animal "sanctuary", and why it's so complicated and often confusing.
A cross-comparison of the standards and policies of all five major zoo and sanctuary accrediting groups in the United States, categorized by topic and publicly available as an interactive spreadsheet.
In the interest of total transparency, because it matters to me: I struggled to update the Patreon for a long time, and I want to recognize that- sometimes I feel like shouldn't promote it now, because of that past difficulty. When I was newer to the field and this work, I was really uncomfortable talking about work that wasn't finished, or that dealt with sensitive industry politics. I also over-committed on perks, especially with regards to trying to send out physical rewards (stickers). I put a lot of thought into what to offer on Patreon before advertising it again to address that. I've found my footing regarding comfort levels for what, when, and how much I share as well. I've committed to updating my patrons monthly - and hopefully more frequently! To those of you that supported me through that struggle-bus period: I cannot thank you enough. It got me where I am today, and I wanted to acknowledge that.

I saw that Rosalie has been established as a Virgo (which is so fitting) but I have to say that the Ascendent reads as Gemini and Astarion is a complete Taurus. Yes I know they are technically the same person(ish) and would essentially have the same birthday but I don’t make the rules.
hello anon, alas I am not an astrology girlie but based on the searches I just made ('gemini virgo compatibility' vs. 'taurus virgo compatibility') I can 100% get on board. I do, however, submit it to larger astrology girlie peer review.
also in my world the Ascendent and Astarion don't have the same birthday, so your interpretation is so valid ;) x

It's a federal holiday here so the library is not open to volunteer today. However, the flash fiction competition is open, so I submitted my short story that I wrote. I did several more edits on it after my friend peer reviewed it and my mom looked at it, so it was ready.
I made multiple simple mistakes while working on my geometry review today, such as multiplying by 4/3 instead of dividing both sides by 4/3 which is multiplying by 3/4 when finding the volume of a sphere. I went back through on KA for the practice assignments that did not have full marks and re-did those, plus the mastery challenge. At the end of the quarter is when I do the unit tests for the units I studied that quarter, then I will do the course challenge to help at the end of the year for review before the final. I can't keep making simple mistakes.
My mom liked my newspaper assignment, but she said I could have been more detailed in places. She is not wrong, but that's why my grade was a 98%. That's still really good, but when I have the grading rubric available, I should be scoring 100%. She also thought it could have been a bit more organized, which again, she's not wrong. Then my dad said that the hypothesis section for my lab work was a mess. I did color code the if then statement, but it was not specifically what the directions asked for which was one statement and not a paragraph plus statement. It's okay. It's a 95%, and that's an A.
I'm also working on a few things for Girl Scouts, different activities that are available for fun patches. It is fun to discover new things.

wip wednesday!
no one asked, no one cared, and it’s not even wednesday anymore where i am but i just thought up some dialogue for a fic idea i’ve been rotating in my mind for months so i thought i’d submit it for peer review 💚
Carlos rests his hands on the wooden table separating them, nails digging in so hard they pull up splinters. “They took everything from us. After everything they put us through, after what they did to Papá, you can’t tell me you don’t want revenge.”
Except, he meets his mother’s eyes and, perhaps for the first time in his life, carlos can see disappointment in them.
“Justice, mijo,” she says, shaking her head. “I want justice.”
sorry it’s so short lol

Some weeks you win, some weeks you loose.
Long post for a long week at work.
I have waited over a year for the company to give me an opportunity like this, and I gave it my all, and did my best, and my best was actually pretty dang good. But, it was not enough. Because I tried my hardest, but was only able to send a partial submission I look like a absolute failure this week. I submitted 3/21 phases. My goal was all 21. And up till yesterday afternoon I thought all 21 were due today. I am about 10 hours away for submitting the entire project. But with 12hrs of travel time on Monday, I am already over 55hours this week, and that is not counting each day from 5:30-7am... Usually I am mad when my time card is that high, but I have been waiting years to be given a project this size and I needed it to be a success... I knew it would take 30-40+ hour in addition to my other tasks. But I could not miss the site visit. My Team and I have been asking to see one of our completed projects for months and this is one of the few times we would have the opportunity. I could not say no. I knew my week would be 50-55hr minimum and I was fine with that. Getting to see the installed project was worth it.
At 4pm today I was still at the office with a few other co-workers working on our projects. I was wrapping up the three phases. Fully reviewed by myself and peers, with full documentation, clean calculations, detailed drawings, and all information needed for the next department. The documentation to send to the next department takes about 20-30min. Big boss asks when I am heading out. I say "not too long, about 40min". I had already texted Matt with an ETA home of 5:30. My boss's boss replied
"I appreciate your dedication, but you need to plan better to be out of here on time"
Fuck. This is me planning. This is me trying my hardest to complete the tasks I am assigned. I knew it was going to be a long week, I accepted it was going to be a long week. How could I plan for this? How could I plan that two once in year opportunities would occur in one week? I tried my best, I was doctoring my time card to show less hours because I am ashamed of my slow speed and long hours. I did my best and gave it my all. But it was a fail, from all directions. I would 100% do it again. And I would not change a thing. But plan it? Sir, you are the boss's boss. You are the one applying additional pressure to these projects. You sir are the one who encouraged and helped set up the site visit. What is there for me to plan? I did a really, really good job on many items this week. I am VERY proud of me. I think I did amazing.
Yeah, I failed, but I failed forwards. It was an exciting project to work on, and we will get those other phases in on Monday or Tuesday. Which is still not bad at all! I may have failed in the eyes of so many people this week. But I am glad that I got to try. I will clean it up as best and I can and keep moving forwards.

I am Tim, I operate BDSM101.ICU. I am a Dom, and have been so for over a decade and a half. I won't even try to pretend that I know everything, but I know enough that educating people newly on their BDSM journey is well within my capabilities. Educating would make me an educator, and as such, I have adapted and adopted a Kink educator code of conduct listed below.
INTRODUCTION
The Kink Education Code of Conduct (KECC) establishes a code of conduct for kink educators and producers. It provides practical guidance for navigating many of the ethical dilemmas we face and creates a framework for clear communication between educators and producers.
The KECC is a roadmap for reasonable human beings, not a precise legal code. You should interpret it using good judgment and good faith, seeking always to adhere to the spirit of the code.
This is the educator version of the KECC. This code has been altered to reflect my personal work, such as removing student portions as I do not currently work with classes and students.
MODELING CONSENT
I consistently practice excellent consent in private and in public. Excellent consent is:
Verbal or written when I am teaching or playing in public. Verbal, written, or covered by a pre-existing relationship or negotiation when in private.
Fully informed, where all parties understand what is agreed to.
Expressed with explicit or enthusiastic agreement.
Consistent and continuous.
Not coerced, not forced, and free of manipulation.
PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE
I teach within my area of expertise:
I only teach material I thoroughly understand and am capable of teaching correctly.
If I teach techniques that are contrary to commonly accepted best practices, I clearly communicate that and explain my reasons for doing so.
When teaching any topic in the domain of a particular profession—for example physical fitness, stretching and warmup, anatomy, nerves, blood play, breath play, hypnosis, trauma response, mental health, legal issues, or any kind of medical play—I explicitly explain whether:
I have relevant professional qualifications, or
I have reviewed the material I am teaching with a qualified professional, or
I am teaching my own opinion.
I respect each person’s right to choose their own risk profile:
I do not pressure anyone to perform techniques outside their risk profile.
I make it clear that students are welcome to audit any techniques they are not comfortable performing.
If I teach high-risk techniques or activities, I clearly communicate the risks involved and I encourage my students to negotiate in class before engaging in any hands-on practice.
I respect each venue’s policies about high-risk activities.
INCLUSION
I treat everyone in a respectful manner and make them feel welcome:
In both my personal and professional lives, I do not discriminate against someone because of that person's race, color, religion, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation, sexuality, and pregnancy status), national origin, age, disability, or genetic information. I also do not retaliate against anyone because they have submitted a complaint about discrimination.
I do not intentionally do anything that creates a hostile environment for any group of people.
I apologize when something I do creates a hostile environment for any group of people.
I use correct pronouns for each person. I ask people what pronouns they use when I am not sure.
Except when teaching gender-specific topics, I present material in a gender-neutral fashion rather than assuming specific gender roles.
Whenever possible, I teach techniques that are applicable to all genders, body types, and physical abilities.
ACCOUNTABILITY
I hold myself accountable for my actions and enable the community to help hold me accountable:
I acknowledge that I am flawed and will not always succeed at applying this code of conduct to my behaviors and actions.
I respectfully and proactively seek feedback from the people I play with, the people I teach, my peers, community leaders, and others.
I acknowledge my inevitable mistakes and am receptive to others telling me when I have fallen short.
When I make a mistake I do my best to apologize, make things right, learn from the experience, and make changes to ensure the same mistakes don’t happen again.
I engage openly and honestly when addressing any reported consent issues, including participating in an accountability process with anyone who reports that I violated their consent or injured them.
I follow this code of conduct and the accountability processes of producers and organizations I work with.
I post this Code of Conduct wherever I have an online presence and explicitly state that I have voluntarily committed to following it.
I have at least one accountability contact and make their contact information available wherever I have an online presence, as well as in my class handouts. *
I do not use any kind of non-disclosure agreement or threat of legal action to prevent my partners from discussing their experiences with me.
PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
I am a professional:
I represent myself honestly, giving complete answers to all questions during the booking process.
I provide complete and accurate information about my experience and qualifications.
I am clear and up-front about my expectations regarding logistics and compensation.
I show up on time and prepared.
I understand my conduct reflects on the venues that hire me and behave in a professional and responsible fashion while working.
DISCLOSURE AND PRIVACY
I proactively provide producers with complete and accurate information about:
Any consent incidents I have caused or been accused of
Any injuries I have caused or been accused of
Any accountability processes I have been the focus of When disclosing information to producers or in public, I am careful to protect the privacy of anyone I may have harmed.
I respect other people’s right to freely discuss their experiences with me:
I never pressure anyone to keep quiet about their experience with me, nor do I ask my partners to refrain from discussing their experiences with me or others.
I do not retaliate against anyone for sharing their concerns about me with others, either directly or via third parties.
I respect everyone’s right to hold private discussions about educators and venues:
I do not ask anyone to share private information with me, nor will I look at information that should not have been shared with me.
I do not harass, challenge, or question anyone who shares information about me in a private forum.
* I am working on fulfilling this one, and will be actively shared once I do have someone I feel is capable of fulfilling the accountability point of contact for me.

The Palworld Discourse
Why is it so bad…
I actually have a nuanced take but seeing the two sides is just irritating.
One side is mad and saying it’s a cheap ripoff of pokemon and that it used AI (how??? unsure) and the other side is just like, loll who cares, bad look defending the biggest IP by Nintendo, what’s wrong playing a parody that a smaller company has made, looks fun!!
Alright, I’m breaking this down into some overarching problems I see, and why everyone is having a weird knee jerk reaction one way or the other.
Gameplay and why it is (or is not) the pokemon game you are looking for
The company model is not anything to write home about
As an artist who loves Pokemon, I’m not mad that they ripped off Pokemon, I’m just mad that they did it in the laziest way possible
AI and the artists in the current climate
I love media analysis, let’s goooooo
Gameplay and why it is (or is not) the pokemon game you are looking for
Okay yes, the images below are pretty great, definitely selling the edgy dark “this is an adult parody of pokemon – with guns!” complete with animal abuse and exploitation vibes. Funny to see, but that’s not my kinda game, and even if it were…
Tumblr media
That’s not what you are going to see most of the time. It’s definitely a more basic looking open world game/survival/base building/automation with menus and lists that you will be staring at, grinding and leveling up. The Pokepals are just a part of the game as a whole. It’s also early access, so the game is still not completely done yet. I can definitely see why it’s such a hit – it’s a genre crossover we haven’t seen before, even though it’s not…a great game, it still will be enjoyable for its audience. Presumably people who liked South Park growing up, idk
Tumblr media
Syntac on Youtube
The company model is not anything to write home about
Y’all thinking I’m defending Nintendo by criticizing another game company can know I can hold hate for both simultaneously, thank you very much. The developer/publisher Pocketpair has done other games that are on Steam – one is called Art Imposter, a game similar to drawful that uses AI to generate the art (I will touch on AI later) and Craftopia. Craftopia is also an early access multiplayer survival action game by them, maybe you can tell what other game is mentioned when talking about this game…
Tumblr media
How about an upcoming game they have in the works, in addition to the two early access games?
Tumblr media
If you can’t tell where I am going with this, their whole premise is making riffs off of popular works, and in my eyes, do not make them out of love, or make them in a transformative way.
As an artist who loves Pokemon, I’m not mad that they ripped off Pokemon, I’m mad that they did it in the laziest way possible
The fan game Pokemon infinite fusion uses an AI to generate a mash-up of two different pokemon, but a large fan base has been making unique pixel art to replace favorite fusions, and has some amazing takes! There are rules and peer review of the submitted artwork, and a guide of how to make these look like pokemon – complexity of the design, color scheme, shading, etc. There are some hilarious deep cuts, and sometimes multiple versions of the same fusion, so you can pick your favorite.
Tumblr media
SnooDrawings7091 on r/PokemonInfiniteFusion
Next, we have r/fakemon, a subreddit for fans to post their own designs, and they are amazing! They range from reimaginings and regional redesigns to original creatures, see below
Tumblr media
Expert-Discount-3311 on r/fakemon
Tumblr media
And here are some pal to pokemon comparisons
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you notice, all of these match the color scheme and body proportions of the one or two pokemon shown – all of them. There are original pals, but that is not the point. If you want a knock off pokemon game, go ahead, but in my book, even a few of these absolute fake prada bags are lazy. I love the creation of new, original designs that look like pokemon but are not. Look at the below image for an original pal that I love the design of -
Tumblr media
Give me more of this!!! These look like new pokemon, because they use the same basic shapes, colors, and eye shapes of the pokemon style.
But others can just shrug and won’t care that much, and find it kinda funny that the company is so blatant about it (and find it weird that I have such strong feelings on the subject)
And that brings me to

AI and the artists in the current climate
As you might know, AI has been a nightmare for digital artists, sending them into a survivalist defensive against the rise of generative art.
AI, that takes existing good art, puts it through a blender and makes something derivative with the same-wait a minute-no, I shan’t say-
If there were weird vibes of people throwing AI accusations against Palworld, this is probably why – they are so primed to be defensive right now against the use of AI that stuff like this hits that same spot in just the right way.
I have a whole other rant about how I do not like AI, but suffice it to say I feel kinda depressed that I have to scan digital photos and digital artwork now to make sure it is not AI generated before I can rely on my immediate gut instinct of liking or disliking a photo or artwork. The problem with AI generation is one of use – it makes so much chaff that the wheat of actual human work gets lost in the noise. Good luck for any new digital artist to join the market when AI can do it better off of stolen work for free. Something something the rise of derivative works overshadow smaller original ones
Anyways Palworld is meh to me and I’ll sit this one out and eye Slime Rancher 2 instead
