wriothesley knows that for others they believe rules are made to be broken.
he didn’t necessarily follow that same philosophy. he preferred to run on the straight lines, rarely ever straying, but he knows that many wouldn’t do the same.
luckily he’s more than capable of adapting and making sure that those who sought to play out of bounds would be dragged back in by his bare hands.
rules are there for a reason, and he couldn’t understand how they slipped from him this time.
he regrets giving in to your every request. he admits it’s because his heart softened at the sight of a creature so precious.
wriothesley is wasting away on the bed with his clothes disheveled and stained while the bunny he loves so dearly, ravaged him.
“you’re so handsome daddy . . .”
there it is again.
the dulcet sound of your soft voice feathered by a petulant whine.
your finger poked his spent cock. it laid wet and heavy on his taut stomach, with some of his cum damp on his chest. he can’t remember how many times he’s fucked you. he was warned about your heat, and nothing could prepare him for this.
he’s fought tough battles, taking on men thrice his size, skirting on the edge of death. they were brutal fights that nearly cost him his life, and somehow that seemed like a much easier hill to climb.
he’s exhausted and drained of every drop of cum he could pump out, and you still weren’t done. you continued to kiss his cock, lapping at it with long and rough strokes. the skin of his leaking shaft was raw from your sucks and the heat from your inner walls.
he could barely muster the strength to speak. his voice is hoarse from commands that fell on your deaf ears and all the groans escaping his lips.
“baby . . . daddy is tired . g-give-give me a second.”
he pulls at your floppy ears to halt your movement, but you only nose at his balls in response. your tongue darts out to taste his sweaty skin and he curses at himself when his body betrays him.
his dick twitches to life from your incessant nipping, and hearts take shape in your eyes.
you drag your soft body on top of his once more to straddle him yet again. your fat bunny cunt gaping and dripping cum hovers over his pudgy tip before swallowing his entire member.
“fuckkkkkk . . bunny, you’re gonna kill me. . .how much fuckin’ nut does that little pussy need ?”
you make a sound, halfway from a moan and a giggle. like a good bunny, you hop up and down until his head kisses your womb filling it with hot seed.
your tits bounce with every jerk of your hips and his hand on your plump ass encourages more of your of passion.
“daddy daddy daddy , I need all of it ♡ love y’r cum so much, hnn~”
there was never a battle wriothesley couldn’t win, not yet at least, but this time, wriothesley forfeits.
he’s accepted that he’s finally lost, and that his sweet bunny girl was the cause of his demise.

Imagine: Tav is about to face a near cerntain death battle. There's a high chance they're not coming back from this even with their allies present. Before they run into the fray with their companions, they keep turning back to the person they have feelings for but never showed it for reasons and just decides to go "fuck it" and pulls them in for a kiss. After they pull away they don't wait for the other party to get a word in before running off. Now with less regrets incase they don't make it.
Zevlor
At first regretted they couldn't head in with you but knows you and your companions are the only ones capable of defeating the incoming threat
Is there to wish you luck and give a few words if encouragement but he's internally scared and worried you'll never come back
But then you keep looking back at him and it looks like you desperately want to say something
"Is something wrong? Do you need-" you curse and apologise in the same breath before there's a hand on his cheek and soft lips on his own
Mentally blanks before settling into the kiss. He's in shock but his shoulders relax like usual whenever Tav is speaking to them. He's chasing your lips the moment you pull away but all you mutter is "I'm sorry but gods I've been wanting to do that."
You leave quickly. He's calling your name but you're gone by then to fight the unthinkable
You've effectively left a mess of him. Now he's not just worried for your safety, his mind is spiralling with all different thoughts. It feels like it came out of nowhere. Were his brief looks and feelings actually returned?
What do you mean you've wanted to do that? How long? Was he even worthy of a kiss? What did you see in him? Questions, questions and no answers to them.
If he wanted you to come back before he's absolutely praying for your victory. He needs to see you again but also terrified. He has no idea what he's going to say.
Almost follows after you then but either more people need protecting on his side or he knows he'll get in the way and make things worse.
Just please come back.
Rolan
Picture this, he's there with a rare expression of worry and even rarer words of encouragement. Hes not usually like this with most people.
Their local hero off to save the day again. But even he's worried. This looks serious. Something even out of your league. As you both stare at the battle ahead your suddenly turn to him with an odd expression.
Your eyes dart back and forth between him and the way forward. Of course he's running his mouth asking why you looked like that until it's eventually shut by you grabbing his collar.
He's baffled as you kiss him before pulling away with your typical annoying smile that not just infuriates him but does something else to him he can't pinpoint.
"You're cute when you're flustered." was the explanation before bounding off as if you weren't about to possibly die.
You've left him speechless, staring at your retrating form with a massive blush on his face. Its interrupted by the sound of cheering in the back. His siblings were passing around some money having placed bets.
"Why are you so surprised? They've been flirting with you since they got to the city." "They have not!" "They literally told us they thought you were cute after helping again." "They WHAT"
You were more obvious when it came to flirting with him. Everyone saw when you eagerly walked up to him at Sorcerous Sundries. When you paused noticing that state he was in. When you touched his bruised cheek and asked in a controlled tone "Who did this." That same day his abusive mentor was brutally murdered.
He's grappling with the revelation that you were interested the whole time and his siblings teasing him for being so oblivious
There's definitely an incoming rant in your future if you do survive. But he'll be lost in thought the whole time. Mind returning back to that moment you kissed him, how you look, how it felt. Before violently snapping out of it.
Dammon
Is there to see you off with a new weapon or armor to help you in the fight ahead. He's got full faith in you and your companions. You've done so much already.
You stand there, gripping the gifted item with conflicted thoughts. You've liked him for a while now, perhaps even more but kept quiet for mutliple reasons. In different circumstances you would never entertain just kissing him without permission. But there was a high chance this would be your end this time. And this thought won't leave you. Did you want to leave with regrets?
Your reckless nature and selfishness is at war with your manners (and possibly noble upbringing if thats what you chose) who will win: the free spirited adventurer or the honorable hero?
Time is ticking and there are precious few seconds before danger comes. Adrenaline kicks in and the literal fear of death pushes you to pull him in for a kiss guiltily.
Its desperate and doesn't last for more than a couple of seconds. The typical the world is ending and i might die soon type of kiss. Dammon is frozen, not expecting this. Your not surprised to feel warmth. Besides your self conscious and sense of propriety screaming at you, another voice in your head cheers
"sorry. I've always wanted to- uh a kiss for goodluck?" you pulled away and stammered out. He looked at a loss and adorable with a bronze blush. Equal parts of shame and urgency to face the fight has you running away as fast as your legs could carry you.
You couldn't help the adrenaline high as you ran ahead. No regrets would plague you this time. Going out with a kiss was one of the better ways to go right?
While you were focused on other matters, Dammon was left holding his mouth and staring at your retreated form. Face warm for a long while. He'll have to be there thinking on your actions and words.
You've always wanted to? Was it really just a spur in the moment or something more. Now you had to come back, if just to resolve this plaguing his mind. Its a harder time focusing on whatever work he had.
It seems like he spends a lot of time in thought. He'll be over analysing all your interactions. Wondering what he missed. Did he want something with you? Has to put down his tools to think about it. He'll be so awkward next time you meet, flushed but wanting to talk.

ive been thinking about this a bit and i feel like i have some very different feelings towards certain things and strongly disagree with the implications present in the ways i see them discussed. i do not like to simplify these themes to “vengeance/punishment bad wahh”, because it does not at all feel complete enough to convey my true feelings, or the themes of the text itself for that matter imo, but like… ofc i personally cant read things like cersei’s walk of shame, where she is punished, humiliated, and dehumanized through the one thing she was unfairly condemned for her entire life— jaime’s brutal maiming and torture where he is humiliated, fed things like horse piss which he forces down because he is so thirsty before vomiting it back up, gets repeatedly beaten unconscious, and is nearly driven to passive suicide— theon’s excessive physical and mental torment that would take too long to list that breaks him entirely— and even a man as deeply evil as vargo hoat (who is not at all three dimensional) having his hands and feet and arms and legs cut off, be cannibalized, and even be forced to eat parts of himself, causing the pov character that swore to enact brutal vengeance on him to feel ill and repulsed once he finds out— and experience much, if any, catharsis, personal feelings about these characters aside. asoiaf is a series where the author pretty often deliberately places us inside the heads of bad people that have done terrible things, who some readers may feel a certain hatred for, as they are put through torment. not to make the reader feel good and satisfied about it, but to present it as something that should not really be a thing that we revel in, and encourage us to be critical about what is even gained through what they are going through. even a morally dark antagonist without a pov like joffrey and his death was meant to have elements of tragedy. during, tyrion notes that he is a young boy with fear in his eyes that he had never seen in the eyes of his father. whether you feel a certain way about it (and i am not arguing that you are morally flawed for not sympathizing with a fictional character, this isn’t real life, i am just discussing themes that i am identifying), the goal was not really to provide us with a feel-good “justice at last!” emotion through the brutally violent death of a 13 year old boy. it makes me genuinely wonder how some ppl come away with the idea that this series is intended to be a celebration and glorification of punitive justice. i am not saying justice in general is not a huge theme, and some catharsis, especially for victims, over the death/defeat of their abusers & tormenters is present in the text as well, understandably so, because it can mean safety. take pia smiling through broken teeth when jaime has her rapist executed and presents his head to her while setting a precedent with gregor’s men. some people need to die, and deserve it, but what does that look like? who decides it? why? by contrast, the instance of jaime actually feeling good when he hangs a bunch of random outlaws reads as something more tied to his current relationship to the self and certain selfish desires at this point in his story than real justice, and it is further elaborated upon and taken apart in the book. anyway, all these questions are present and the answers are not near as simple as i often see them made out to be.
it doesn’t feel like to me that most things that can be interpreted as enactments of punitive justice or moments of karma are these epic events that should just make the reader blindly cheer and applaud, or even feel good about. there is a reason that some things go awry (like with oberyn), and it isn’t cynicism. there is nuance, and not in a way where victims are condemned for fighting back, or a pacifist ideology is idealized. there just really isn’t a glorification of brutal punishment, ‘eye for an eye’ vengeance, and the needless causing of suffering. same with a blind upholding of duty and law based around flawed feudalistic constructs. and all these things should not even be conflated. not to mention that punitive justice exists also in a way where it is connected to institutions. take the faith and organized religion for example. the whole process is interrogated: what is sin? what sins are being punished? how? why? and what are the actual effects? be it jaime’s and brienne’s conversations/interactions with a bunch of different tertiary characters in affc, or cersei’s punishment in adwd. at the end of the day, she is punished for her body, for being a woman. she does not suffer “consequences” for her actual wrongs and the suffering she causes. she doesn’t really learn anything, and it will all just make her spiral more. the whole concept of punitive justice gets focused on especially with theon’s entire identity being withered away through torture. he experiences so much torment that there comes a point where he is robbed of his mind and agency. what does the “criminal” learn? how can a person change in these circumstances? what is the point, and why should we feel good about this? he is not even really “punished” for his crimes, and certainly not by people with any moral high ground over him, he is just being brutalized. same is the case with jaime in asos: it is a bad person being brutalized by men even more vile than he is, and they are not doing it because they want to deliver any justice to his victims. also, though the maiming does kickstart crisis with him specifically, it is not the determining factor when it comes to his reformation. this story is not actually saying that people can be, and should be, tortured into becoming better people, and if they can’t the solution is to just axe them. there is nuance, sure, mercy is not something everyone is entitled to in all circumstances. sometimes “mercy” towards certain evil people will lead to the enablement of the suffering of others, even entire populations. there are certainly circumstances where compromise isn’t an option. but, again, i dont think george is ever holding back on actually interrogating the moral quandaries when it comes to identifying cycles and ending them, and he is for sure not treating every single aspect of these conflicts as black and white. even tyrion murdering his father, who purposefully does have a very ironic and humiliating death scene, which is important thematically, doesn’t end in easy and feel-good catharsis, especially for tyrion, which doesn’t equal “oh, tywin should be forgiven and spared”.
all of this is also why i do not really see how events like the fall of house lannister (first of all, we know it is gonna include the likely very brutal deaths of two innocent small children), red wedding 2.0, valonqar etc would be these grand and glorious moments of justice and pay-off, treated as just the good guys finally getting an epic W. they will very likely be filled with tragedy, so i am genuinely curious about where these expectations for this kind of catharsis come from

Innocent Child!Reader, who’s brutally honest and asks Loki “Are you a meanie because nobody loves you? Does nobody love you because or how ugly you are?” And just pats Loki’s arm saying “Don’t worry! I’ll love you, even though your an ugly meanie!”
Which Gods and Humans are about ready to laugh, trying not to laugh and already on the floor dying from laughter (Especially from Loki’s face)
-The honesty of a child can be a wonderful thing, they will call things how they see them, unaware that their words cut sharply into others.
-You were the most brutally honest child your family had ever met, as you were encouraged to always tell the truth no matter what.
-However, they now realize that maybe they should have also taught you how to tell the truth in a way that others won’t see as rude or cruel.
-Loki and Buddha were fighting over you, you had been sitting in Buddha’s lap and Loki wanted to hug you, but Buddha held you close, not willing to share.
-Loki’s face warped as he glared and you spoke, breaking up their fight, “Big Brother Loki, why are you so ugly looking when you get mad?”
-The two instantly turned on you, gawking at your words before Loki, his face returning to normal, smiling down at you, “What do you mean my sweet little Y/N?”
-You cupped his cheeks as he kneeled down in front of you, “When you get mad you make really ugly faces! Is that why nobody likes you when you get mad? Because you’re ugly?”
-Buddha was instantly laughing, as was Zeus who had just been passing by, the two on the ground, roaring with laughter while Loki was face down on the ground, twitching in despair, his heart broken by your honesty.
-You hopped down and walked over, kneeling down next tot him, patting his hair, “It’s okay Loki, I’ll always love you, even when you’re ugly.” He sniffled softly, lifting his head as he thanked you while Zeus and Buddha were near death, unable to breathe.

This one is currently winning on my little motivation poll so here we go
SEPERATED LEO AU!!! (because we don't have enough of those already lol)
Link to original post
So, I wanna talk more about how they all refound each other (link to how they met here)
Just to recap, Big Mama has Mikey, Draxum has Raph, and Splinter has Donnie. Big Mama's in her Nexus Hotel, Draxum is in NYC with a cloaking broach, and Splinter's in the ever iconic sewers.
Big Mama is actually a very kind mother to Mikey! She loves her little baby, and especially loves how he has her beloved Lou's smile. She spoils him to death and lets them express himself however she'd like. (If you haven't picked up on it yet, Mikey is genderfluid in this au and generally presents as a feminine man) Mikey absolutely adores skirts and zip-up hoodies, and usually wears a very bright suit top with a big orange ball gown skirt to formal events that Big Mama matches at Mikey's whims (I cannot draw for the life of me so if anyone is willing to draw this for me I will work out some kind of trade with you if you'd like 🙏)
But yeah, Big Mama does not let her fight in the Nexus, and has even toned down the brutality of the Nexus due to Mikey's pleading. There aren't any more lethal fights and she rarely makes binding, lifelong contracts because it made her baby upset to see all the sad and scared people.
They are a very cute duo and both genuinely love each other very much
Tumblr media
Then there's Draxum amd Raph! Draxum luckily snagged two cloaking broaches before his lab exploded and slapped them on both him and his 2 year old son before heading up to the surface. The two of them then got a apartment in the.....*shuddder*........human world. Draxum tries to hide them in mostly secret, only leaving the house for groceries and necessities, but eventually realizes that poor Raphie is very lonely.
This is made so much worse when he meets the little girl downstairs and wants so desperately to follow her to school after their playdates.........Draxum finally caves.
With the help of Mr. and Mrs. O'Neil, he enrolls Raphie in the same Kindergarden as April and lets him finally go to school after years of homeschooling. Raphie struggles with the transition a bit, but eventually he gets the hang of it and thrives! Draxum encourages him to join as many clubs as he can (without getting overwhelmed of course) and is his biggest fan.
Once Draxum is able to settle down, he's actually a huge soccer mom and goes to all of Raphie's events, he gets totally embarrassed sometimes. Draxum and the O'Neils are really good friends and try to have dinner at least once a week
But once again, a very happy family! They struggle to show it sometimes, but they truly love each other and only want what's best for each other
Tumblr media
Then we have Donnie and Splinter! Splinter was mutated with the DNA from his pet rat that he picked up on his travels with Big Mama and Draxum to get the turtles, and he was only able to grab Donnie and retreat to the sewers before Draxum's while lab collapsed. He, along with the other two, belive his partners and other children to be dead, so he never goes searching for them. Instead, he raises his son in the sewers on his own, foraging for all that they need just like in canon.
However, their sewer home is PREEEEEEEETY nice, since Donnie doesn't really doesn't have anything better to do other than make their home as nice as possible. He's has all major appliances working since he was 6 and only makes improvements from there. He also has his little pet project, but Splinter doesn't know about that yet!!!!
Speaking of Splinter, he varies pretty dramatically from canon. He's a lot less depressed because he had a much better experience with the yokai world and doesn't feel nearly as ashamed to BE a yokai (or yokai-adjacent) and keeps himself in much better shape, helping him with the dysmorphia that he does have. Overall, Splinter's doing pretty well, and he's a pretty attentive parent overall!
He was able to access some of his funds from his Lou Jitsu days and pays for Donnie to go to online school, and by the time Donnie meets up with the rest of his family at 11, he's halfway through high school work and has plans to go on to college so that he can start building up his tech empire by the time he's 18
But yeah, yet again, a overall happy parent/child relationship!
Tumblr media
(Then there's Leo. All the angst had to go somewhere, right???)
Moving on! Now, the adults all lived separately with each of their respective kid, but when Raphie was about 8, he got really sick. Like, really really sick. Draxum went to as many human doctors that he could trust, but none of them were able to figure out what was wrong with his baby. He finally musters up the courage to go down to the Hidden City, and finds out that Raphie has Mystic Overload Syndrome. While he's running around trying to find stuff to help his little boy (he's so affectionate guys), Raphie sneaks out! He starts running around the Hidden City unbroached, and he feels truly seen for the first time in his life.
While running around, he literally runs into another turtle yokai, one who's dressed in expensive orange clothes...........
This post got REALLY long, so stay tuned for more! Next post will probably be how Draxum and Big Mama finally met, and then how Splinter and Donnie come into play!
(Don't worry about Leo this isn't about him he's fine)
First // Previous // Next
(Also stay tuned for the name reveal of the AU!

RTC Sleepover Headcanons!
They always go to either Constance or Mischa’s place for obvious reasons
Mischa carries Ricky up and down stairs you can fight me over this
The whole choir learned sign language so that they can talk to Ricky
Sometimes when they’re doing things Ricky gets really excited and just signs stuff really quickly and only Ocean and Constance can understand him because Ocean is just Like That and Constance helps Ocean whenever she’s having an anxiety attack or asthma attack and Ocean signs really quickly when she’s like that
Literally any time Ocean or Mischa needs to get away from home because of their shitty parents they just go to Constance’s house and she’ll text the group chat for an impromptu sleepover
This extends to any member of the choir actually
Onto actual sleepover activities! Whenever they’re at Mischa’s house Constance brings a duffel bag full of board games
She also has a guide for multiple things including:
Anxiety attacks
Asthma attacks
CPR
How to treat burn wounds (from the time Ocean and Noel tried to make cupcakes)
And minor injuries
Mischa has a DDR machine in his room and he’s the freaking best simply because it’s loud and pisses off his parents
At some point during the night Noel and Ocean start arguing and they settle it with a DDR battle
Ocean wins every single time because Mischa always ends up trying to encourage Noel and he always gets distracted
Ocean is definitely either aroace or a lesbian ace so somehow during the night someone’s choice in dating material always ends up getting insulted
Including Mischa
Especially Mischa
They have a fun game where Ricky will sign something as fast as he can and the others have to decipher it
Mischa’s parents hears yelling and they’re very concerned but when they look it’s just a smug looking redhead and an effeminate boy yelling over a game of Monopoly
Either that or a bunch of odd children yelling at a kid who’s signing as fast as he possibly can
Safe to say they don’t open the basement door during sleepovers
They order 5 pizzas every time because they all have vastly different pizza orders except for Ricky and Penny who somehow have the exact same very complicated pizza order
Penny is a cuddly sleeper
She once woke up somehow holding the entire choir
They all love it they don’t even try to hide it
Penny and Mischa love horror movies
The only thing that Ocean and Noel have in common is their hatred of horror movies
Penny: *gasps* That’s such a cool effect
Mischa: Oh my god there goes her head
Ocean and Noel, clutching each other: TURN IT OFF TURN IT OFF TURN IT OFF
Constance and Ricky have a respect for the genre but they still cling on to each other like their lives depend on it
Ricky’s favorite horror movie is Killer Klowns From Outer Space
When they’re at Constance’s house her parents feed them the best food ever
There are always attempts to bake because some people (*cough cough* Ocean and Noel *cough cough*) can’t learn their lesson
Ricky and Penny are the taste testers
Ricky is brutally honest
Ocean: Alright Ricky, how does this taste!
Ricky: *signing* This tastes like shit
Ocean: *instantly crumbles*
Ocean and Noel are fire hazards
Ricky likes to sit on the counter
Mischa knows it wouldn’t go well if he tried to help so he just stands by with the fire extinguisher
Ricky paints everyone’s nails
Penny braids everyone’s hair
They always joke about opening up a salon
Ocean keeps some clothes at Constance’s house since she sleeps over a lot
They used to play a game where you would act out a scene from a movie until both Noel and Mischa acted out horrible death scenes in one night
Yeah Constance’s parents banned that game
Constance has a bunch of Mario games
Ricky likes the ones where you can turn into a cat
They do game nights every now and then and if Noel and Ocean get paired together you better start saying your prayers right then and there
Someone ends up crying every time they have a sleepover
Usually Ocean
Penny’s favorite new saying is “It’s not a party until Oceans full on sobbing on the floor”
Mischa is the mama bear fight me on this
He will cradle whoever’s crying like a baby
One time he ended up crying and no one knew what to do until Penny just walked over and picked him up so easily
Homegirl is surprisingly strong
Constance has a Wii and Mischa and Penny are forced to wear the wrist straps every single time
Constance has a supply of puzzles for Ricky
He just seems like a puzzle guy
Constance’s parents once came in to check in on the kids and found Ocean and Noel having a heated argument so they came in and put them in separate rooms
Both broke down crying after five minutes
Arguments happened a lot less after that
Ocean likes catfishing creeps on Tinder
So does Noel
One time Talia FaceTimed Mischa during a sleepover and everyone was so surprised
Mischa: Meet Talia!
Everyone, in unison: She’s REAL?!
Ricky managed to figure out a way where everyone can fit comfortably on the bed
Penny is in the middle always right next to Mischa
Ricky curls up at the end of the bed like a cat
Noel and Ocean talk to each other in their sleep
They also sleepwalk
Once they somehow managed to sleep-switch clothes and everyone was so confused
Everyone has a spare inhaler even though Ocean always has one on her
Except for Constance who has FIVE-
Ocean and Noel have frequent anxiety attacks so everyone else is well versed in how to deal with them
They played spin the bottle once which led to Noel and Mischa AGGRESSIVELY MAKING OUT INT THE MIDDLE OF THE CIRCLE
“You know you don’t have to-” “JUST LET ME HAVE THIS”
Ocean, who snuck downstairs to get a midnight snack:
Penny, who standing in the middle of the kitchen with a bag of popcorn:
New headcanon: Ocean has diabetes
For the first like 15 years of her life everyone just thought that Ocean fainted really easy
Constance has a stash of snacks in her room for Oceans blood sugar
She thinks her parents don’t know about it but her parents just let her have it cause they worry about Ocean
Let’s be real, everybody worried about Ocean
Girlie has diabetes, asthma, and she’s just fragile as fuck both mentally and physically
Mischa is surprisingly over protective over her
Ocean, doing her own version of “How to Catch a Predator”: There it is. Predictable
Mischa: What?
Ocean: The creep I’m catfishing sent me a dick pic
Mischa: He did WHAT-
Movie night is, of course, a regular thing
Ocean is a surprisingly big fan of romcoms
This was so much longer than I anticipated but I hope y’all like it???
I might end up making this a fic??? If I do I’ll post the link to it here

Shinichiro lost his father, and his mother was at the hospital, and he decided to cope by fighting people (way stronger than him) and starting a gang which later became the greatest gang in Japan and -
This man, this teenager, this boy, who until his 13 birthday had an as normal life as it can be, who had a father, a mother, grandparents, who even had a little brother (!!!), who had a typical childhood with an as banal as him childhood friend, with an as normal life as him – lost that. (and his normal childhood friend lost it as well, wow !)
He lost that and decided to become a delinquent, which, even if it brought him joy ("I am very proud to have spent my all my teenhood with you guys!"), led him to 1. encourage his baby brother (who he sees as his son) to do the same, even with all the pain it (can) involves 2. lose that baby brother, which, during all those years, he had heavily put the responsibility of is mental well-being on. His baby brother who is one of the few things he had left of this normal life he once had (and that his baby brother can't remember having).
Mikey has a tragic life - maybe he wouldn't have turn to delinquency if Shinichiro didn't. The same way perhaps Izana wouldn't have but Shinichiro showed him the way.
Shinichiro has a tragic life - even without the original timeline. The so called 'normal life' he had was teared away from him, suddenly, brutally. And he turned to violence.
Shinichiro's teenhood starts off with his father's sudden, unpredictable death, and it ends with the disbandment of the 1st generation of Black Dragon (which could've happened a few months after his mother's death - giving another perspective on the whole thing). But Shinichiro left Black Dragon so that Mikey could have it, and could become greater than him.
Without Mikey, Shinichiro wouldn't have left Black Dragon.
And with Mikey dead, he almost goes back to it (doesn't deny Wakasa's proposal of joining his gang and being on top of the world) and he talks about murdering people - and he does it. Granted, there were a lot of other stuffs that pushed him to it; but if it wasn't for his baby brother, the only thing left of his normal life, the only thing that reminded him of it, and how you do it, the only thing that pushed him to go back to it, to be 'normal', to open a legal shop, to stop illegal acts...
If Mikey didn't exist, or if he had died with his father, how far into illegality would Shinichiro had gone ? (and how far was he about to go in the original timeline if he hadn't died ? knowing he confesses he did a lot of shady stuffs in those four years to take care of Mikey)

Propaganda:
I would encourage anyone who enjoys shows that make you think to check this one out! Due to things revealed near the end of the series, a second watch-through is well worth it to see the clues towards the ending and foreshadowing along the way. Consequential drawbacks for these special powers are included throughout the series. Plot-twists keep the audience hooked through it all. There is character growth as the main character changes and as hard choices come up later. It does take you on an emotional roller coaster from light-hearted humor to hitting you right in the feels. (I totally did not watch this anime just because my favorite voice actor is in it lol)
Trigger Warnings: Child Abuse, Child Death, Emotional Abuse, Flashing Lights, Gender Identity/Sexuality Discrimination, Graphic Depictions of Cruelty/Violence/Gore, Rape/Non-Con, Torture, Mutilation.
The non-con warning is for female characters unwillingly having their underwear publicly exposed.

#A8: Trese
youtube
Propaganda:
It’s the first Filipino anime (at least, that I know of) to feature the country’s supernatural creatures, so if you’ve only watched Japanese anime up to now, you will find the magic in Trese very novel. I also like how the protagonist is a woman when the Lakan, in Philippine history, tended to be a man. She’s also quite badass. Although she has two bulky twin sidekicks who can serve as her bodyguards, she is in no way less than them when it comes to fighting. The show’s on Netflix with different language audios. If you’re gonna watch it in English, you can even hear Dante Basco (Zuko’s voice actor) voicing one of the minor characters.
Trigger Warnings: Child Abuse, Graphic Depictions of Cruelty/Violence/Gore.
The Child Abuse warning is for the episode about a reanimated baby, and the Violence stuff is expected because there are fight scenes. Gore is for when the monsters get killed brutally, but because of the art style, it doesn’t appear that extreme.

Hallucinations And Associations
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even before the incident at the cannery, which would result in Mylo's and Claggor's deaths and Vi abandoning her, Jinx had a very fragile and unstable mind. Her rampant imagination, coupled with seeing violence on the scales she did, when she was so young led to the development of auditory and visual hallucinations, often concealing the most brutal elements of the violence, she witnessed. Whether that be turning the faces of the perpetrators into monsters or steeping the world in white and magenta. Her visual hallucinations tended to resemble brush strokes or scribbling lines, similar to how she drew as a child.
After the explosion of the cannery, Jinx's hallucinations matured alongside her by becoming more complex and layered. For one, each voice is from someone close to Jinx's personal life. Therefore, each voice and the accompanying hallucination has its own distinct personality and mannerisms. Not only did Jinx's ailing mind assign every voice, which she could hear, a specific role and thus usually only heard that voice in specific instances, but she also began to have physical sensations, she associated with the people, whose voices, she was hearing. The people, whose voices she hears the most prominently, are Mylo, Claggor, Silco and Vi. She can also hear Caitlyn to some extent, but Caitlyn is a bit different than the other four.
Mylo is the loudest and most persistent voice in Jinx's mind. He represents her fears, insecurities and self-doubts. He constantly berates and belittles Jinx, making her doubt her skills and the connections, she has with other people. In a way, he is her paranoia, if that had a voice and a physical image. While Mylo used to bully Powder a lot, his living counterpart still loved and regarded Powder as a part of the family and cared for her deeply. However, in Jinx's wrought mind, even these positive associations have been twisted and changed, corrupting Mylo's chosen term of endearment for Powder, "Baby sister", into a mockery and an insult. Jinx associates Mylo with a feeling of touching or falling into a bush of nettles. Her skin stings and usually the static in the air overpowers her before Mylo even says a word. He is the one, causing Jinx the most distress, and she has to fight him the hardest to silence him.
Claggor functions almost as a counter towards Mylo. Because Jinx has fewer negative memories of him, he usually only judges her with silent disappointment rather than verbally condemning her. He only joins in with Mylo if Jinx is very overwhelmed. Normally, Claggor then voices worries over what Jinx might need to do next. His phrasing is less mean-spirited than Mylo's. Claggor acts as a protector and aid towards Jinx much like he did towards Powder when she was little. He normally is the one encouraging her in her pursuits and also tends to be the first one to notice if one of Jinx's carnal needs like food and drink has not been met in a while. Claggor's voice usually overpowers Mylo's during crucial physical fights as he tends to be the one, through whom Jinx can sense incoming attacks. Or at the very least that is how her mind chooses to read her hypervigilance. Claggor usually announces his presence through a feeling of walking over warm earth and soft, sandy grounds.
Silco becomes the new primary, most frequent and loudest voice after his death. Unlike the others, Jinx rarely hallucinates him physically and instead associates his voice, coming from the rocket launcher, Fishbones, who in her mind behaves like a living shark. Because of Jinx's positive memories of Silco, he is the one voice, Jinx usually does not try to shun and instead actively engages with. After his death, Silco is Jinx's main protector but also a strategist. Outside of identifying who might pose a danger to Jinx and whom she can possibly trust, he is especially responsible for helping Jinx arrange her ideas into fully functioning plans. He tends to point out oversights or impossibilities in Jinx's plans and helps her refine what she tries to do. He also, for lack of a better term, keeps her company and makes sure she does not feel lonely. Jinx associates Silco with the feeling of being underwater, yet still being able to breathe. Because of how Silco reframed his experience of drowning as a rebirth, Jinx has grown to associate the very sensation of drowning as something positive and tends to allow it to linger for a long while as it tends to calm her down.
Vi in Jinx's mind is associated with the feeling of fire. However, because of how conflicting Jinx's emotions are, concerning Vi, hallucination Vi equally seems to fulfil two roles instead of just one. Because of this and depending on what role she fulfils, the feeling of fire can either be warm and comforting or hot and scorching. Much like Claggor, Vi has the capability of picking Jinx up and encouraging her to keep going, especially when she feels so lost that she cannot even see a light. Vi reassures Jinx of her physical and mental fortitude. However, at the same time, she can be even more damaging and paralysing than Mylo. Not just because she will judge her harshly, but also because she will very regularly call Jinx Powder in her mind and call attention to the fact how much Jinx misses her. This feels particularly hurtful as it stands in direct conflict with what Jinx believes. Namely that her sister abandoned her and hates her. Once Silco becomes a part of Jinx's mind, his and Vi's voices regularly get into conflict with one another as both want what is best for Jinx, but have very different ideas on what that looks like. In these instances, Jinx can experience both fire and water as a sensation. She really dislikes it when they fight.
Caitlyn stands out among the hallucinations as she does not have a role, though she tends to work in tandem with Mylo, representing a specific fear. Caitlyn usually only appears if Jinx either sees the actual Caitlyn or things, which remind her of her like cupcakes or couples in Piltover. Caitlyn is the only one, who does not have a physical sensation associated with her. However, she usually appears for Jinx with devil horns and a snake's mouth. Caitlyn represents Jinx's fears of replacement but also can double as a way through which she experiences trauma related to Enforcers. Because of this, Caitlyn is after Mylo the one hallucination, Jinx reacts the most aggressively towards.

The thing people seem to miss about MDZS is there are almost no morally pure characters because almost all the characters have falling into a destructive cycle:
Characters are abused by people who see them as things
They are dehumanised
And when they rise up against that abuse their response is to dehumanise their abusers by seeing them as monsters that deserve whatever happens to them
Wei Wuxian tortures Wen Chao and those with him in brutal and horrific ways
For whatever evil that they did that was grotesque cruelty
So was the cultivation worlds treatment of the Wen sect remnant. The cultivation world didn't see them as people they saw them as "Wen Dogs" and it was easy to then see Wei Wuxian as less than human too
Jin Guangyao does the same process when seeking his revenge. What he does to his father is again horrific and of course to Nie Mingjue
Mo Xuanyu is another example
We see this most extremely with Xue Yang who had never been treated as a person until Jin Guangyao and later Xiao Xingchen and he has no desire to see anyone else as people
Jiang Cheng is an interesting example of this because like the rest of the cultivation world he does this with the Wens too.
Which is why he can't understand Wei Wuxian's choice and is so hurt. Because in the book he has no relationship with or memory of Wen Ning and Wen Qing. He had either been unconscious, nearly catatonic with depression, or blindfolded around them. They are quite literally strangers to him and strangers affiliated with a group he has stopped seeing as people and only sees as monsters.
A view that comes from his personal trauma and that is supported and encouraged by the adults around him
And until Jiang Yanli's death Jiang Cheng is one of very few people who does not see Wei Wuxian as a monster. After the death of Jiang Yanli he wants to see Wei Wuxian as an inhuman monster
He wants to be able to see him as something other then human. Something not his brother
And he utterly fucking fails at it
When Wei Wuxian comes back Jiang Cheng is posturing and threatening but he is much more bark than bite. I think some people see him as an antagonist early on but really it always felt more to me that Wei Wuxian wanted to get away not because he felt in danger (except if Fairy was around) but because it was really fucking awkward and his personal guilt was eating him alive
Like Jiang Cheng gets mad that he can't hate him properly! It's a whole thing! If he's an antagonist he's really shit at it!
Still, there is a reoccurring message: when you see people as monsters/less than human then it you run the risk of becoming monstrous in response
There are far more examples in the book. I'm not going to list every single one here.
Am I saying the cultivation world was wrong to fight the Wens? No
Am I saying Wei Wuxian was wrong to save the Wen sect remnant. No
What I'm saying is the book is an examination of a cycle of dehumanisation and brutal cruelty
And I think that's really interesting and one of the reasons I like MDZS
Wei Wuxian, Jiang Cheng, even Lan Wangji to an extent...their generation were kids who had horrific traumatic shit happened to them. It's not surprising that they saw the perpetrators as monsters instead of people. It was easier and it was encouraged by the adults around them who encouraged them to continue to paint people as monsters,
But I think a lot of the story is some of them realising in various ways how seeing people as inhuman warps your thinking and your actions. And they don't all learn that gracefully. And some don't learn at all, and some learn the lesson far too late
It's just something I really enjoy about the book

World on Fire Season 2, Episode 5: An Impossible Position
The French Storyline
Tumblr media
Henriette and David grow closer as he recovers. After last episode’s run-in with a local woman discouraging resistance and a German officer, Henriette has decided to stay with David in the barn of a sympathetic farmer couple until he is well enough to leave the country, then to return to Paris as a nurse in a different hospital.
But for now, they are young and alone…except for the farmer couple, who wink and nudge their encouragement every chance they get. The farmer’s wife actually tries to set the mood with wine, but it quickly goes to her head. Henriette murmurs “the world is spinning,” which David says is only “the nearness of you,” a reference to the song of the same name by Hoagy Carmichael and Ned Washington.
Tumblr media
It's not the pale moon that excites me / That thrills and delights me…
Falling hard and fast, David initially wants to stay behind, pose as a Frenchman, and help the Resistance. She quickly dispels him of that notion: he cannot speak French, he cannot blend in, and there is no single Resistance network, just people doing what they can. The best he can do is go home to his squadron.
Even though he retains enough boyish charm to make Henriette smile, David is certainly different from the carefree version of himself at the beginning of the season. With Henriette, he breaks down his barriers and becomes more serious and sincere. He means it when he says, “Don't forget me. Please, don't ever forget me.” And he means it when he refers to his pre-crash self with shame and derision.
David: You read the newspapers. The persecution and the hate. You want to weep, to rage, but then, on the next page, you read the cricket scores. I'm ashamed. Henriette: Ashamed? You're fighting for us. David: I'm a boy playing soldiers. Henriette: You didn't understand. How can anyone understand?
There’s another character out there who does, though, and I hope somewhere down the line Kasia meets David and Henriette. I still think it’s possible if one of them becomes part of the British Special Operations Executive (SOE) and returns to their home country as spies or saboteurs.
The British Storyline
Tumblr media
Irena is brought in for questioning with MI5. Tam is unable to get an answer out of Irena, but once alone with Kasia, Irena reveals that yes, she is spying for the Germans–but that’s because they have her son. Kasia struggles with disbelief as Irena pleads for help, that the Germans will kill her son if she doesn’t send the Avro factory plans onward. James suggests that Kasia “turn” Irena into a double agent, “she is a traitor, after all.”
Kasia convinces Tam to let Irena go home, where Kasia can convince her to give more information. But in the early hours of the morning after Kasia has dozed off, Irena poisons herself with arsenic, leaving only a note addressed to her son, begging forgiveness. “All doors were closed to me.”
Far from fazed, James doctors the Avro blueprints and proceeds with the misinformation plan. His coolness shakes Kasia to her core. That night over a chicken feast that leaves Jan wide-eyed in amazement and Robina suspicious of blackmarket activity, Kasia confronts James about Irena’s death.
Tumblr media
Kasia: You are the coldest man I’ve ever known.
To everyone’s shock, he responds angrily in Polish. Robina kicks a poor horrified Jan from the room and demands answers. Without hesitation, Kasia admits their work with MI5.
Kasia: I did believe her, in my heart. But you are not allowed to have a heart, you are not allowed to have the–the smallest human decency! And you sit here, smiling, and joking, eating and.. how does guilt not choke you? Hm? [...] I put her in an impossible position.
Now on the defensive, James calls Kasia a child for expecting anything other than brutal acceptance of reality. He explains how familiar this war is to his generation of veterans, completely missing Kasia’s own experiences in this current war.
James: Now, you might think that callous. But really, it was a kind of courage. An acceptance of our lot. The horror was and could not be denied. We knew at any moment that faceless body could be one of us. We saw. But we did not look. If you can find this same, cold courage, then maybe you will survive this war intact.
Robina, realizing that she has once again let a WWI vet with a different kind of trauma into her home and heart, politely but coolly dismisses James from her life for his months of lies and deceit and corruption of Kasia’s role as a woman and wife. Faced with the changing roles for women in society (with all the rapid changes in society), Robina doubles down on the 19th century concept of a woman’s role as a domestic peacekeeper.
For her role in the deceit, Kasia is given an ultimatum: leave all war and spycraft behind or she and Jan will be turned from the house, in-laws or not. Desperate to keep Jan safe once more, Kasia agrees, but not in her heart of hearts.
So…Harry’s going to have quite a bit of catching up to do when he gets home. As will Lois.
The Egyptian Storyline
Tumblr media
Still billeted at an ATS station near Cairo, Lois has adapted to work as an ambulance driver but not the mindset. When she sees an Egyptian woman collapse (the woman’s cause of death are left unclear) and leave her young baby boy an orphan, Lois rushes to care for the boy. She wants to get him to Cairo where he’d have better opportunities, but Pearl argues that their job is to take care of the wounded soldiers, not civilian babies, and they don’t have the time or resources to go to Cairo and back for one baby who isn’t their responsibility. The best they can do is drop him off in a local village when they have a chance.
Lois: They can't even feed themselves. Isn't that the whole problem? It makes me wild. What does any of this got to do with any of these poor people? Why are we fighting our war on their land?
For the next several hours, Lois tries to balance caring for the baby boy with her ATS duties. This plotline is resolved offscreen, so I’m not entirely sure if they end up getting him to an orphanage in Cairo or just leaving him in a local village. He doesn’t even get a name. The more important concern for this episode is how caring for an orphaned baby reminds Lois of her own child, who is not orphaned but, if Robina’s words in past episodes are to be believed, unloved.
Wiping away her tears, Lois resolves to quit ATS and return home to take care of her daughter. Next episode, she’ll have to get in line. Robina has become attached to Vera over the past several months, and if Harry’s reaction in episode 1 is any indication, he won’t want to let Vera go either.
“I won’t be needing this anymore,” Lois says, placing her helmet on the bed.
It’s a nice symbolic gesture and all…but Pearl just finished an ambulance shift. Quit after you put in your hours, Lois. There are wounded people and no replacement drivers.
I don’t know if this show intends this, but Lois constantly makes snap decisions that others have to pay for. Like…I’m glad she’s healed from multiple traumatic experiences in a row, but you can’t just travel to another country at wartime to “find yourself,” spend a few hours with a plot device baby, and decide that you don’t have any responsibility for your coworkers and patients. Quitting before your shift is a jerk move. Quitting before your shift at a field hospital during wartime takes that to a new level.
I feel like she could have hit these character beats in another (better) way. Why not have it go like this:
After a long shift, Lois returns to base and strikes up a conversation with a woman holding a baby. It soon becomes clear that the woman is extremely weak and has made her way to the ATS outpost as a last-ditch effort to get help for herself and her son. Lois is able to guide the woman and baby into the ambulance alongside some wounded soldiers and take them all to the hospital.
In the next scene, it is revealed that the woman has died of either starvation or disease brought on by the disruptions of war. In her fury, Lois gives the “What does any of this have to do with any of these poor people?” speech and resolves to get the baby boy (who gets a name during Lois’s conversation with his mom) as far from the frontlines as possible. Pearl tries to talk her out of it, but Lois, with the baby in her arms, climbs into the truck and demands that Pearl drive them to the city.
Their last appearance in the episode is a conversation as the two women drive through the desert at night, having safely delivered the boy to the orphanage. Finally, Lois breaks down and reveals to Pearl that she left her baby to be here, that she lied about not having children in order to get the job, that she initially came here to run away from everything…but she can’t run anymore. Speaking with the Egyptian mother reminded her that she left her own daughter in a country at war, but her assignment with ATS is nearly through, then she’s going home.
Oh well, that’s what fanfic’s for.
The Libyan Storyline
Tumblr media
Constant shelling has left the men with little sleep, half of half rations, and now no access to distilled water as the siege of Tobruk rages on. Harry’s mental state continues to worsen as battle fatigue creeps in. He becomes obsessed with covering everyone’s tracks in the sand and keeping the men occupied, growing irritable and restless, and showing signs of sunstroke, as diagnosed by Rajib.
When Harry encourages the men to go on patrol for a water source at night, Rajib disagrees, but eventually both lead their men into the desert. They succeed only in capturing Italians who were guarding an oil well. During a skirmish with Axis forces, the Italians escape, and Stan is killed. There is no heroic moment of sacrifice. In fact, we don’t even see it. (At least in the version aired in America. Was that censored from TV broadcast like some of the language has been?) Like Harry, we are shocked at the realization.
The next day, the survivors are driven to safety in a truck. On the floor of the truck is Stan’s body. Then there’s the German POW captured after the Italians escaped. He shows no remorse for the dead and no compassion for any of his fellow soldiers. In fact, he takes pains to be as hateful and crass as possible at every opportunity. His goal, after all, is to live as a prisoner of war.
When he is made to dig the grave for Stan, the soldier is left alone with Harry. Once the soldier realizes Harry understands German, he launches into a tirade against Britain, the Polish, and anything that strikes a nerve. Now with Harry’s undivided attention, the soldier metaphorically aims at the heart, saying that Harry is ultimately responsible for Stan’s death. In fury, Harry shoots the soldier in the chest before coming to his senses and weeping. Oh how far he is from the moony-eyed boy of 1939.
Throughout this episode, Rajib acts as the steady counter to Harry as Stan did in season 1, maintaining a show of optimism and perseverance for morale. It is Rajib who places himself between George and the German POW and refuses to engage with the soldier’s hateful rhetoric. It is Rajib, not Harry, who ultimately delivers the funeral prayer for Stan. Finally, it is Rajib who takes responsibility for the men, even as Harry is determined to get drunk (which, given the dehydration, won’t be too hard).
Rajib: Beer and revenge, the coward's arsenal. Your men have lost their sergeant. They need you. Pull yourself together, man. For God's sake. It's the beginning of the end, drinking alone.
And he holds out his hand to take the whiskey and half the burden from Harry.
Tumblr media
At the beginning of the episode, as Harry is ladling out the last of the rations, Stan asks him about the rest of the meal. His words are “Where’s the other half?” This episode is full of people with their other halves missing, and not just in a romantic sense. Irena and Lois miss their children. Robina and James part ways. Stan is shown with his picture of his wife, Eileen, and their baby. Where is your other half, Harry? What’s missing that can be restored next episode?

thanks @kittyandco!! for my totk SIs
🎂 How are you two with food? Do you share food freely or do you try and steal food from the other person?
Wendy and Vaati share pretty freely. Crystalline is quite possessive but can be persuaded to make a trade fdsahkjfdhsakj
♥️ Does either of you ever tease the other about crushes/romantic partners? How does that go?
Crystalline is the easiest to tease. There's a brief period after everything before both Mipha and Urbosa make their moves on their respective future partners, and in that time Crystalline is quite a mess about Mipha. Though, honestly, Wendy is really only trying to be encouraging, Crystalline takes it as brutal teasing and retaliates.
And so Wendy must bear the brunt of excessive teasing about Urbosa XD so we end up with both of them flustered out of their minds over Women.
If/when Vaati gets a crush, he's going to get teased by both Wendy and Crystalline. Crystalline is trying to fluster him to death while Wendy is interested in the slightly gentle version of that and of wingmanning for him- HEWKJHFKJEW
🎳What is your favorite activity to do together?
Crystalline and Vaati do enjoy sparring together quite a bit, even if it looks competitive and aggressive. It's a way that they can connect (and no one else can really keep up except perhaps Link) without words.
Wendy and Vaati like to sit in scenic locations and chat, maybe while having a picnic! Just relaxing and catching up!!!
Wendy and Crystalline...why is this the hardest one KJFHEKJWHF they have such disparate interests. Cooking (Kakariko recipes especially), even if they fight the entire time. Any Sheikah rituals (like prayer) that they grew up doing together. I think they enjoy engaging with Sheikah culture and Kakariko together. Habit in many ways.

Math Girl AU Part 2: The Amazing Boxleitner Family, Miss Power, and the New Dr. Two Brains
So continuing with this au I am going to focus on Becky's family and who becomes the new Dr. Two Brains as well as include Miss Power in here.
So Amazo Guy is species swapped with Miss Power. He is from Miss Power's planet and he came to earth to conquer it. Instead of using manipulating tactics, he views them as a weak excuse, Amazo just acts like a brutal jerk and bully who loves to be mean to villains and citizens alike. He called himself Mr. Amazing in this one. One day when he was being a jerk to some villains and innocent citizens, someone threw a rock at the back of his head and told him to knock it off. Mr. Amazing turned around and paused when he saw this brown haired, human scientist trying to act imposing in front of the guy even though he was internally freaking out over his actions. (Steven had no idea why he thought it was a good idea to agitate a super powered alien being. He acted before thinking.) Mr. Amazing's first thoughts upon seeing Steven were, 'Holy Quazars he's cute!' Since then Mr. Amazing tried his tactics but only did it in front of Steven to try and impress him. Steven told him point blank that he did not like how he acted and that he was nothing but a bully that he didn't want to associate with. That struck Amazing a bit and a little later, after swallowing much of his pride, he asked Steven to help him interact better among humans. Steven was a bit hesitant at first then agreed. It took quite a while but Steven was able to change Mr. Amazing's character and personality for the better. Mr. Amazing became a vigilante/hero for a while then kind of quit the gig when he married Steven because he was secretly afraid his people would come after him and Steven if they found out about his change. Mr. Amazing also faked his death so people would not find him. He changed his name to Alex Boxleitner when he married Steven.
Personality and Role: Alex is somewhat different than his canon counterpart. He loves his family and is very protective of them. He would pick a fight with anyone that he feels is a threat to them. (Steven holds him back.) He is cynical and tolerates people, is only kind and caring to his family and their friends. Guy has no friends of his own and has a bit of trouble making some. He is more serious in this au but his successfully helpful to other when he can. He is still a bit snarky and sometimes acts rude (Steven corrects him a lot, though let's it slide if the persons are entitled jerks.) He takes Mr. Botsford's role a little bit, he takes side jobs in helping people take self defense classes and works part time at the local gym and community center working with kids who live in a rough environment. Alex is a no nonsense kind of guy but loves animals. (He also works part time at animal shelters.) He is not as close with Becky in this au because she acts more like a nerd like Steven and will often choose more peaceful solutions than using her fists. This doesn't mean he loves his adopted daughter any less. They do bond over helping animals and pretty princess (Alex tries to hide it from his husband but Steven already knows.)
Since Amazo Guy looks like Miss Power in this au, his reptile side is on the right side of his face. He has green reptile eyes instead and red scales. His hair is combed over that side in his civilian life. Alex also has a medium sized ponytail he grows out. Guy wears ripped jeans and tank tops that usually have animals or sarcastic sayings on them. He also wears ripped short sleeve shirts and midriff shirts. He wears a brown or dark green jacket most of the time to cover his battle scars. Neither Alex nor Steven have told Becky about his past or the fact that he is an alien. Alex is worried about Becky seeing him as a monster before he met Steven. Steven respects Alex's plan, but also encourages that they have to tell her sooner or later because she is a really smart kid. (They don't know Becky is an alien either. She does not want to freak her dads out or tell them about her heroics because of how protective they are about her safety.) Alex in this au has never been to Hexagon and does not know much about the planet only that they love math which most humans on earth do as well so he can't tell the difference.
Steven is the same as his canon self. He is a little more sarcastic and acts like a tired coffee dad from time to time because that's due to him dealing with a former intergalactic conqueror he is now married to and having a child that he has no clue she is an alien also along with her ferret. He does part time research in this au as compared to his canon self. His main job is head of Fair City's criminal analysis department. (Fair City police are a bit more competent in this au due to how he runs things.) Steven did not write his practical guide for superheroes but rather, unknowingly, helped inspire Becky to be a hero through their shared love of comic books. Steven also works as a part time tutor for high school and university students in the field of science. Same canon outfits. Is a little similar to canon Two Brains in personality, but not much and no evil tendencies.
Miss Power in this au is from Amazo's fanon world. She was upset with how her people enforced guidelines where they are supposed to be nothing but aiding to other planets and protectors for weaker planets. She craved conquest and power. She deserted her home planet and went on a conquest spree through a good number of planets until she ended up on Earth and met Math Girl. Her outfit and personality are the same as canon. She is a bit more unhinged than her counterpart due to her feeling oppressed by her planets rules and teachings for so long. Colonel Gigglecheeks is a hawk with talons and a beak that can slice and break through anything. For her hair style. Her hair is styled back and she has forehead bangs. Her name in this au is Triumphant Gal (Power Girl is a trademark of the DC universe and Power Gal sounds too close to it.) Like her canon self she pretends to be a hero, but is more convincing and does not focus that much on bullying. She has different manipulation tactics along with other strategies to bring down villains. Only Alex and Bob are distrusting of her immediately in the beginning.
Now how I incorporated Professor James Doohickey into Dr. Two Brains. Unlike Steven's book, Professor Doohickey thought heroes could better win battles, and avoid too much property damage, through the use of building and handling gadgets and inventions properly. His book, "Heroes and Technology: Using Brains before Brawn" was a guidebook that taught heroes about different types of gadgets and inventions they can construct or use to aid them when fighting villains and protecting citizens. James Doohickey was a close friend and colleague of Steven as well as Professor Tubing. They did some research projects together combining Steven's expertise with his own. Doohickey taught Math Girl how to build hero gadgets and use them effectively in battle against villains. Doohickey and Tubing were both uncle figures to Becky but Doohickey had a mentor figure as well with her as Math Girl. He did not know Becky is Math Girl. Their relationship was not as strong as was canon Steven and Wordgirl, but it was still pretty good and would cause some emotional distress for Becky after the accident. He helped Math Girl build some of her gadgets and designed her visor for her.
Now for the accident: Steven and Doohickey both worked on the mind reading experiment, but it was designed for all animals instead of just mice. Doohickey suggested that instead of a mouse, why don't they try with a monkey. Through connections with the local zoo, they were able to get an albino monkey called Squeaky who was a vicious fellow. He was called Squeaky because of a screeching sound he made that sounded like a mouse squeak's. Now for the day of the experiment, Steven unfortunately got the flu and his husband was not going to let him work while he was sick. So Doohickey planned to test the experiment himself. He would still give credit to Steven since he contributed a major part to the work. Now no "Holy Cow Don't Press This Button" button was attached but while Doohickey had his back turned to look at some data, Squeaky found some wires and started messing with them. James turned around and caught Squeaky messing with the wires and tried to stop him. He got bit by Squeaky and when trying to pull his hand out of Squeaky's mouth (he still has the bite scars even after the accident) Doohickey falls back on the switch that activates the machine. With the wires all messed up, the machine malfunctions and they fuse.
For those who read my alliance swap au for Dr. Ape Brains. Dr. Monkey Brains looks similar to his design. The difference here is that he has white hair/fur and red/pink eyes like canon Two Brains. Dr. Monkey Brains does not have a tail and hates when he is called an ape. Since Squeaky was obsessed with cheese in the canon series. Dr. Monkey Brains is obsessed with bananas. He is more manipulative and vicious than canon Dr. Two Brains due to him being fused with a monkey and not being canonically clumsy or oblivious like Steven is. Steven feels a little guilty that he was not there to help prevent the accident from happening but his family and friends assured him that it is not his fault and it was an accident. He and Becky are still a little sad about what happened to their old friend. After the episode "A Game of Cat and Mouse" but for this au, Steven takes over the mentor role for Math Girl and does not realize it is still Becky. Dr. Monkey Brains does not hate humans as much as Dr. Ape Brains, but he still doesn't like people that much, he at best tolerates them. He still has the canon henchmen working for him His canon outfit stays the same although he doesn't wear ties anymore after the accident due to them feeling constricting around his neck.
That's what I have right now for the next part. Still working on the villains and Becky's Friends for the au.

“ 'Right of Retaliation'; do you have any idea of how fucking stupid you sound?” Raia commented casually, not missing the helpless fury flashing through her descendant's face, almost proving her right, but not yet. The Véghvárys shared stubbornness, the almost inability to yield, even when doing so would have spared them more agony.
“One of us is not a lawless escape artist, gnawing through anyone just to stay alive.” Rozália fired back almost immediately and it didn't offend her distant sister. However, those words coming from someone else's mouth would've been their last.
“Don't tell me you envy my freedom. But I wouldn't be surprised. How long have you been Lucifer's perfect toy soldier, doing your utmost to take all blows meant for your family and still failing?” the lightning demon fluidly, elegantly ducked the anticipated spinning kick
“Do you want to fight again, sister ?” oh that word was spat with a surprising amount of venom; she was indeed the Viper as well along with the Hellfire and the Hussar.
“No.” Raia shrugged nonchalantly “I want you to see. To acknowledge the inevitable.” she knew how the General's heart ached when she gazed into her eyes; the same color she possessed as a human before the infernal red ruination.
“That I can't hold back Heaven forever? I am well aware of that, along with what will happen after.” Rozália replied with a scoff and a borderline eyeroll. She is destined to lose everyone and when she does, her second death will leave a larger impact anyone could predict. Yet her answer only drew a low chuckle and a small shake of head from her sister.
“You are willingly protecting the scum of Earth landed here for the price of your family's lives. Are you even a Véghváry or just a mindless pawn-” unable to finish the train of thought since her top was fisted in a merciless grip of ashen hands with pulsing orange veins as she was yanked down to Rozália's eye level.
“Who said I'm willing? I never wanted this, never signed anything, never asked for this.” alright, the last part stung a little but Raia allowed it for now, eerily calm about the motion. Easier to study her emotions shifting in those serpent eyes, which cannot be concealed by armor
“But you are still being used.” As nasty as it was, Raia pointed out with a sharp grin. The grip tightened.
“And what happens when an upper class demon snatches one of your warriors for fun? Do you run to Lucifer for permission for a rescue mission?” her tone borderline mocking but genuinely curious at the same time
“My graveyard is full of Overlords, demons of every species and class, even a few members of the Ars Goetia itself. My army is untouchable.” the General growled and Raia felt the incredible power pulsing beneath her skin, power rivaling almost anything in this realm, many would kill for it, try and tried to kill her for it; not knowing she was bound by unseen chains.
Well…if not her warriors…
“And what about the imp hybrid? Striker, if I'm correct.” oh she was correct, judging by the brief flash of terror and the incredible strength shoving her away.
“It will be only a matter of time until someone else notices how you look at him.” and the sincerity of Raia's tone halted Rozália's hands in drawing her swords. She took the pause as encouragement and continued to widen the crack in her shield.
“You feel like someone else when you're with him, aren't you? Even if you don't see wings rising from his back,” a brief moment of her own vulnerability before the flow of poisonous truth continued dripping into the opened wound “you feel different. Maybe not someone else, but someone who you were, perhaps.” for once, the General was silent, no remarks but jaw set in stone with vividly glowing crimson eyes staring ahead, refusing to risk a glance at her.
“You love him.” Raia's brutal riposte was flawless
“He is capable, skilled and prepared, I give that to him. But those holy bullets run out fast once your enemies sense how important he is to you.” the lightning demon slowly began to circle around Rozália, her steps careful and calculated
“He's not protected by that silly Right of Retaliation; is he?” a cruelly soft whisper which had the power of a full force blow judging by her silent shudder and breathless cry upon it
“What happens when a nobody Overlord manages to capture him? If they torture him because they know you cannot do anything. If demon royalty places the clues together and sentences him to the most gruesome death? If they dump his mangled, broken body at your feet with a leering face?” Raia has come to a full circle, even though she probably should have been, she was not afraid by the rapidly increasing heat, the clenched, trembling fingers and the crimson bleeding into the General's sclera at the possibility too real to brush off. Raia was right about him being extraordinarily skilled, but he couldn't possibly be at alert in every second nor can she.
“What if you saw his emerald ringed golden eyes flicker up to you one last time before life leaves his body? Do you choose stalling your family's ultimate demise further or burst free from your bounds for the man you love so deeply? What will it be, General?” Raia stood in front of the still silent woman shaking from the unsaid emotions crawling to surface; unbearably close which proved to be rewarding when she saw it.
“ I̵ W̷I̷L̸L̸ ̴TE̸A̸R̷ ̸A̴P̸A̵R̸T A̵N̵Y̸O̴N̸E̵,̶ ̸E̶V̴E̸RY̵O̴NE̵ N̸O̵ MA̸TTE̸R̴ W̷H̵O̶ ̸T̴H̶E̸Y̸ A̵R̴E̸,̷ W̴HAT̸ AR̵E̵ T̷H̴E̵ ̸C̶O̶N̵S̴E̷Q̷U̴E̸NC̵ES̵.̴ I W̴I̵L̵L̷ B̸U̵R̶N̵ ̸T̵H̶I̸S̸ C̷U̷R̸SE̵D̴ P̴L̶A̵C̵E̴ T̸O̴ ̶T̷H̶E̴ ̶G̷R̸O̷U̸N̷D̴ IF̶ A̶N̷Y̶O̴N̷E̷ D̴A̶R̵E̵S̴ T̵O̶ ̷L̵A̶Y̴ A HA̸N̴D̷ O̵N̸ O̸R̴ TA̷K̷E HI̵M̸ ̶A̷W̸A̵Y̴ F̴R̸OM̵ M̷E̵. And the General was undone with that howl that could shatter Heaven, scorch Hell itself. Raw and cracked open like a fresh cut on flesh, the torrent of her agony like spilt blood from an artery. Dissolving skin in places revealed the wild Hellfire underneath, cursed magma tears of fury spilling from unified blood red viper eyes, monstrous fangs bared viciously.
“There is my blood. My legacy. My sister.” Raia smiled, this time without malice or false intentions, her tone surprisingly tender after the destruction she caused. She has gotten the answers she wanted and needed. Her bloodline wasn't dead, only forced to be dormant by unsaid threats and by the duty to protect. But not for long ; she could sense it.

ABOUT
Born and raised in Atlanta within the Cross pack, Rhea's father was killed during a fight against vampires when she was young and the relationship with her mother drifted as a result. Instead of trying to cling to a maternal nature that she would never receive, Rhea was practically raised alongside the other wolves in the pack and believes wholeheartedly that her personality is an amalgamation of every wolf she's idolized. And there were three wolves that she held closer to her heart than the others. Wolf, Xiomara and Josie. When their relationship began and seemed unconventional to some, Rhea knew that they all gave one another something much more profound than love. They were one another's support system and encouragement during the cruel ways of the Cross pack, able to fill days with something more positive than violence and death.
Rhea has always had an internal struggle with the pack she was raised in. She wanted to fight and play her part in their glory so as soon as she shifted at thirteen, she welcomed the brutal training under the belief that it would make her strong. However, as the years passed she knew that being ruled by fear of Jeffrey and Peter was actually a weakness. In a strange turn of events, she watched as their leadership caused the pack to resent them and this observation stuck with her when she became a mother at eighteen. Out of the fight to raise her son, Rhea could see an innocence and gentleness in little Tyr that she never wanted to leave him. She encouraged that both strength and softness can exist together, that loving others is not a weakness at all but is in fact the reason why so many of them are strong. She helped train him before he shifted for the first time, in preparation for the force he'd be met with by pack training. She reminded him daily that Jeffrey and Peter have to be so loud with their anger and violence because deep down, they were fearful little men with no love to make them strong.
Ten years ago, the loss of Josie not only impacted the pack but Rhea could see a change in Wolf. Her and Xiomara continued to raise Allie as their own from that point on but also could see that the young girl would never be the same again. In many ways, Rhea has been unable to process the grief she experienced that day from the sheer shock of how fast everything happened , and where she's tried to remain a strong and supportive force for others. It's only in quieter moments that she's able to truly feel it.
After Tyr and Allie's first shift and their training began, Rhea put herself back into the fight. However, she's never embodied outwardly aggressive traits which is why she earned a reputation of being temperamental as she appears level-headed and stoic but can move into violence seamlessly and directly without much of a change on her expression. She treats violence as a transaction of life, something to do rather than something to let consume you and these days she is trying desperately to pass that knowledge onto her son and Allie as she knows the burden of anger and rage sits within them, swallowing them whole as they feel everything so intensely.
Since arriving in Hollow Cove, Rhea like many of the other wolves wears as many hats as possible. While she prefers to be out fighting, she also knows the importance of keeping the pack together and running from behind the scenes. She does whatever task is needed, and even though Ryan has become the official Beta of the pack she knows that her and Xiomara's thoughts and opinions can sway choices that Wolf makes. There's no reason for her to have an ulterior motive with this knowledge, so Rhea handles the responsibility wisely and is careful with her words where possible. But she also watches closely, taking everything in around her because loving Wolf dearly is one thing but him being an Alpha is another.

If we can’t do anything, can we still love?
Recommendation: To Be Alone by Hozier
Tumblr media
There is always some tragedy that accompanies love. I would not use “tragedy” to define the smaller fights between two people that love one another, nor to express things done maliciously and purposefully by one person to another (this could launch a debate about whether or not something done in this manner could ever constitute a loving relationship – I will refrain). No, the concept of this tragedy I refer to is something far greater. It could be the sudden or expected, yet inevitable and devastating, death of a lover, or it could be a breakup and termination of a relationship – a destruction of this unique line of communication. However, sometimes this tragedy is brought on by something exterior to a loving relationship. This outside cause is something larger than the relationship itself, and perhaps even larger than love (although this is not to say that it is stronger than love). In some cases, this obstacle is a societal one. For James Baldwin in his book If Beale Street Could Talk as well as the film adaptation (dir. Barry Jenkins, 2018), systemic and societal issues come into conflict with love in various ways.
By examining Christopher Freeburg’s writing on Baldwin and If Beale Street Could Talk, I hope to answer the following questions: Why do Tish and Fonny choose to stay together through all of their pain? What keeps Tish from abandoning all hope when she realizes there is nothing more she can do? And more broadly, how does love function amidst circumstances out of our control?
Christopher Freeburg connects Baldwin’s writings to those of Soren Kierkegaard. Kierkegaard describes love as being hidden in the interior being, while in turn acting as a form of connection with all of existence. As Freeburg points out, Baldwin explores the body as a material thing through sexuality and vulnerability while encouraging his readers to consider their own existence as “transcending material life.” Baldwin wants his readers to long for control of their lives when they are faced with an insurmountable obstacle.
This exploration of love and the self is made abundantly clear in If Beale Street Could Talk. Immediately after Tish and Fonny are shown having sex for the first time, the film cuts with an unapologetic harshness to the current “facts” known about Fonny’s arrest and the crime he is accused of committing (Timestamp: 36:00 - 39:00). Beyond the explicit overarching storytelling method used here, there is an inherent brutality in the dialogue, soundscape, and cinematography that convinces the viewer from this relatively early point in the film that there is little hope for Tish and Fonny. Tish tells Fonny she loves him as they lie together, naked, in bed. The bedroom is warm and dimly lit, and so is the train car that the characters ride on the way back to Tish’s home afterwards. The score is instrumental and sweeping, paving a sonic confirmation of the love the characters feel for one another. Then, there is the cut to black as the music fades away. This is followed by a moment of silence and then, Tish’s voice. However, it is not her soft, shaky voice professing her love to Fonny. Rather, it is an emotionless recounting of Fonn’s criminal case. The once sensual visual language becomes black and white still images, thrusting the viewer from pure love to its polar opposite; we are in a world without emotion and where subjectivity is greeted with hostility.
Tish and Fonny, in this moment and in the film as a whole, seem to follow Freeburg’s discussion of Baldwin. These characters experience the material only to be confined by the realities of American society. Nonetheless, Tish and Fonny are able to hold on to their love even as the chances of Fonny’s freedom disappear. Their love cannot be thought of as something that will be destroyed by the ruthless and impenetrable systemic injustices and their own powerlessness in the face of these injustices. This love is also not something that will fail when these characters realize that even their most desperate efforts, such as Tish’s mom traveling to Puerto Rico, will not be able to break through historical and societal barriers. Rather, since the love between Tish and Fonny has been in part established through the material, sexual connection between them, it transcends their powerlessness.
"But I Know About Suffering, And I Know That It Ends." If Beale Street Could Talk, dir. Barry Jenkins
This idea can be explained through a look at the “before” and the “after” of Fonny’s arrest. Before the arrest, Tish and Fonny had their love for one another, but they also had time to look for an apartment, to go grocery shopping, to walk in the park and talk, to have sex, etc. etc. After the arrest, all that remains is love. Although it is safe to assume that Tish and Fonny’s entire lives were in part dictated by the widespread systemic racial issues of 1970s America, they do not come to realize their complete lack of control until after Fonny’s arrest.
In accepting their powerlessness, Tish, Fonny, and their families give up all hope that a solution to Fonny’s situation is lost but retain the hope that not only their love remains, but also a hopefulness about their love in the future.
When some tragedy causes one to lose their connection to the material world, just as Tish and Fonny have, a lack of choice becomes a prominent factor in life. However, one can still choose what they want to love. There can be this overriding precedent: things have been that good once, things can and will be that good again. Although a relationship can be fundamentally altered or destroyed by inescapable societal oppressions, love is the one thing that can be retained even in an acceptance of one’s powerlessness.
