Sometimes characters have chemistry, and other times... well... they don't. Sometimes reading them interact is like watching paint dry or eating a plain piece of bread. Yuck. In other news, we discuss fairies (everyone's favorite topic), childhood favorites, and what's coming up in our TBR.

So, just a thought. Laini Taylor and Erin Morgenstern books have descriptions that deliver vibes. They're atmospheric, they're capable of making you lose yourself in the world and it's magic. While Caraval descriptions as well as Hotel Magnifique's are there to just help you imagine what something looks like. Like if you love it, you might imagine a vibe as well but there's no vibe being delivered by the author is what I feel here. This isn't criticism, only my thoughts (observation?)

We need to make a fandom for Hotel magnifique, I've only read the first 1/3 of it and it's amazing as hell

Guys .. does anyone know The Girl With No Soul by Morgan Owen and Hotel Magnifique by Emily J. Taylor? I swear there are no fandoms for these 2 books and they're my all time favorite it genuinely breaks my heart
If you like fantasy worlds that include magic and taking big bad evil guys/governments you guys should read these!!

Just finished reading this book and it was really good. While I was reading it, it put me in mind of the Hollywood Ghost Club from Julie and the Phantoms a little bit. Mysterious sorcerer, exclusive guest list, sophisticated setting and magic that has to been seen to be believed? All of that can be found in Hotel Magnifique, with a little bit of darkness thrown in as well. If you enjoyed that storyline in the show, then you’ll love this book.

Not the best picture, which is definitely not my skill set. But I’m still so in love with these new books I got about a week and a half ago ❤️ I’ve read 3 of them, but I’m looking forward to reading each of them many times to come in the future!

My current read 📖 🤓
Tumblr media
All her life, Jani has dreamed of Elsewhere. Just barely scraping by with her job at a tannery, she’s resigned to a dreary life in the port town of Durc, caring for her younger sister Zosa. That is, until the Hotel Magnifique comes to town.
The hotel is legendary not only for its whimsical enchantments, but also for its ability to travel—appearing in a different destination every morning. While Jani and Zosa can’t afford the exorbitant costs of a guest’s stay, they can interview to join the staff, and are soon whisked away on the greatest adventure of their lives. But once inside, Jani quickly discovers their contracts are unbreakable and that beneath the marvelous glamour, the hotel is hiding dangerous secrets.
With the vexingly handsome doorman Bel as her only ally, Jani embarks on a mission to unravel the mystery of the magic at the heart of the hotel and free Zosa—and the other staff—from the cruelty of the ruthless maître d’hôtel. To succeed, she’ll have to risk everything she loves, but failure would mean a fate far worse than never returning home.

Books I‘ve read in August 2022
Spoiler Alert: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- this has been a reread. This book is the one that got me into reading. I‘ve never been a big reader but this book unlocked something in me. Since then i read about 5 to 6 books in a month.
- i enjoy a plus-size heroine. Marcus is part of a TV-show and April writes Fanfiction about said show. They go on a date and fall in love.
- One of my favourite part are all the GoT hints. It‘s so funny.
- the first time around i gave this book 5 stars during my reread i noticed a few things that made me rate it 4 stars this time around. I still enjoyed it and will proably gonna read it again in the future.
Hotel Magnifique: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- this one was bit different from most fantasy books i have read this year.
- this hotel can travel around the world and collects employees and guests.
- the magic is intressting and from time to time complex. I enjoyed it. The end is a bit open and i normally don‘t like that but i didn‘t mind with this book.
Rhapsodic: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
- there are people who love this book and the series but i‘m not one of them. The mystery is good, i enjoyed it but overall it just didn‘t do it for me.
- one thing i really REALLY hated was the overuse of the word „bitch“. The FMC best friend uses the word „bitch“ all the time. When i say all the time. I MEAN ALL THE TIME. She answers the phone like that. She calles her friend that. Ohh it annoyed me so much.
- there was also a lot of SA and i just don‘t like that. I know in other Series SA is part of the story but it was not glanced over that easily. That did strike me as weird.
Throttled: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- first book in the dirty-air series.
- i have read Collided before i read this one. I think that was good because if i‘vre read it the other way around Collided would have gotten a lower rating. Maya and Noah are superior.
- he is a dick and behaves horribly in the beginning but you can see him fall hard for Maya.
- one thing i hate in romance books is the third act breakup. But in this book there is no third act breakup. I LOVED THAT SO MUCH!!
Window Shopping: ⭐️⭐️
- I love Tessa Bailey but this book has not been it for me.
- it had potential but i didn‘t enjoy it as much as other books.
A League of Gentlewoman Witches: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- I‘m a master in reading Series in the wring order. I did it again with this one. Because it is a stand-alone series it‘s not a big deal but yeah it kind of is typical for me. 🙈
- the story takes place in kind if oldy times in London. Alex is a oirate and he flys a fucking house. A battlehouse. Who comes up with that? That is brilliant!! Charlotte is a witch how highjacks Alex battlehouse.
- the two have absolute fantastic banter. They go on an adventure and it is glorious.
- the end was perfect and i loved it so much.
- in the beginning of each chapter there were some keywords for the chapter and sometimes it was very clear what they meant and sometimes they were twisted. That was such a nice touch i enjoyed it immensely.

I accidentally stayed up until 1am reading for the first time in a long time just now. I haven't done that since middle school.
It felt really nice. I felt like myself for the first time in a while.

Found this book at a library. It reminds me of Balan Theater. Haven't read it, yet.
