Elijah playfully went along with Carter’s teasing even as Carter remained dead silent and stoically faced. It was only after this image, when it was too late, when Elijah put the pieces together, as his long legs began the long slide down Carter’s throat. At least there’s worse ways to go out than in your teammate.

I think Slay the Princess is so popular partially because the *gets stabbed* "I'm in love" reaction is both intentional on the part of the developers and then they completely follow through on it.
