Wing au? Wing Au. With perhaps a bit of a twist. Also a hint of eldritchness perhaps. For fun!
Ghosts have wings. Sure, they aren’t normally seen, not in the visible spectrum, but they do. Scanners pick them up, and sometimes a ghost might even reveal them, which was hypothesized to be some sort of animalistic intimidation attempt. (Something more than one Amity Parker rolled their eyes at)
Everyone had seen them at least once- the motorcycle-driving ghost’s mass of shadowy feathers, the green-haired girls matching shaggy ones, the rocker’s ones that looked like pages of music before bursting into flame. Even the box ghost’s had been spotted- feathers looking more like sheets of cardboard than anything else.
It wasn’t until the whole kidnapped to the ghost zone that anyone saw Phantom’s, but that was another tale unto itself really. Honestly the arrival of the GIW would have maybe been seen as positive before, but the fact that many of them had looked in the mirror or gone to the doctors only to find feathers beginning to sprout on their back soured it.
Especially as the GIW continues to prattle on and on about how all ecto-contaminated scum are less than human, less than bacteria. And well, what does that make them? Them, who have been to the realms of the dead and gods and back, touched by the swirling green energy in ways incomprehensible? Changed by that energy?
So the people silently brush hidden feathers together, quietly rebuff the white-wearing lunatics from the city as best they can, and hope to anything listening that they can stop anyone else from disappearing. That maybe they can find the few no one noticed had been taken before it’s too late, even if they have to tear down the entire government to do it.

i unironically hope Eris stays in her Hive form at least physically bc im already loving how both her & Immaru are pointing out Ikora's (and humanity's) inherent dehumanization of the Hive.
Eris being all "If this form does not leave will you still view me as a friend?"
Immaru when asked where the Experiment Subjects come from and responding with "Don't act like you care."
Honestly, it's so good. I really love the Eris stuff and some of these questions being posed. A lot of people react negatively to Eris doing this, forgetting that Eris has already been part-Hive for a long time. She was just hiding it behind the eye cover.
Technically, nothing inherently changed about Eris; she just embraced that part of her. And that's super important for her arc I think because she's been on a journey of accepting her trauma and her losses for a very long time. We helped her face her fears and traumas in Shadowkeep and she came out of it victorious. And the story never treated it as her traumas being gone; she still has them, but she has the means to tackle them and handle them and live with them. Since we helped her, she became more open and more involved with what we do to save our home, even if it meant tackling dangerous things.
And the thing is, now that her traumas cannot be exploited by Darkness anymore, she's capable of involving herself in these things, knowing that she has friends to fall back to and a support system and better mental fortitude. We've seen it through her endurance beneath the Pyramid on Io, and her grasp of stasis, and her dealing with the Crown of Sorrow and egregore and the Lunar Pyramid nightmares. And now with her embracing her Hive self. It doesn't change anything about her, but people prefer when she hides it so they don't have to see it. And she knows it (Sororicide lore book, page 1):
It's a perfect example of how we inherently view the Hive as untrustworthy. Obviously, there are good reasons for it! The Hive have caused immense pain and trauma to pretty much everyone in the universe, Eris included. It must take an incredible strength of character to embrace the fact that you're physically half-Hive, creatures that traumatised you in the first place. No one else has dealt with anything similar so naturally they're afraid for Eris. But I believe in her strength. And so does Drifter and Drifter is never wrong:
He'd read the reports. He saw the theories on VanNet. He didn't trust them. He trusted her.
There's a cutscene that people skip and can cause people not to see it, I recommend replaying the thing on a different character or seeing it online, but it shows Eris taking off her bandage in front of us:
It's such a powerful image to me. A symbol of her taking off her mask. Not pretending to be the same as us anymore. Because she isn't! The Hive are a part of her and have been for centuries. And she's always been in control. Our mistrust has always hurt her, but before this, we could act with pity towards her. Now that she's fully in Hive form, people's perception of her changed, for really no good reason other than prejudice. She is still Eris.
I definitely think that eventually we will have to reconcile with the idea of the Hive not being inherently evil in totality as a whole group of people. Obviously this is going to be difficult, especially when their leaders act the way they do, but eventually I do believe we will have to accept some of them, even if it's only Eris for a start.

I had a feeling somebody was going to make a stink about this.
1. I age up all characters for my writings. Maybe I should have clarified as such in that specific post, so that's on me. Think of it as Idia giving him upgrades in the future like how he gave him legs for walking idk use your imagination.
2. Ortho is not a baby or a kid. I'm sick of seeing the fandom treating Ortho the same way as Cheka (an actual child). It's been stated during the Ignihyde chapter that Ortho recalls memories from eleven years ago, back when he was five. Meaning he'd be sixteen now (or rather his human counterpart would be). Ortho is literally considered to be on the same level, age-wise as the other first years.
3. The double standard of your last statement kind of makes me question your age, especially since you sent this on anon. So, are you saying that me writing romance or smut of the other underage characters, who are 16-17, is okay, because they are teens, despite still being underage in canon?? I can't help but question if you are a teenager yourself, because that's the only reason I can think of as to why you would make it a point that "Ortho is a kid, not a teen," as if him being a teenager is any better in this situation (which didn't even involve anything sexual fyi).
If you are under the age of eighteen, then you shouldn't even be here, directly interacting with me in the first place. Because if that is the case, then that is a hell of a lot worse than some stupid post about kissing a fictional robot boy on the cheek.
tl;dr Ortho is not a baby or a kid, dude is literally trigger happy if you so much as insult his big bro. I age up all characters, specifically the underage ones. I gave the option to view the post as either romantic or platonic. It was just a kiss on the cheek, nothing spicy. If you are underage, never message me again until you are eighteen years or older.

“Uh Carla,” he says vaguely, not entirely sure he hasn’t interrupted her. “I’ll have to call you back." He drops his phone back down by his side before she has a chance to reply, staring in dumbfounded bewilderment as Eddie Diaz pulls an LAFD shirt over his – very chiselled – chest.
“You know it’s rude to stare.”
Buck jumps, snapping his neck to the side to see Hen approaching.
“Do we need to get you laid?” she asks bluntly. “Should Karen and I take you out this weekend? I mean, first that dad at the kids’ school and now the new guy? Come on, Buck. Close your mouth.”
He splutters, tries to muster up some indignation at Hen’s comment, but then he catches sight of Eddie again, now buttoning up his over-shirt and instead all he can manage is-
“That is the hot dad from the kids’ school.”

While Dottore shows clear disdain for even the thought of actually being considered Anastasiy's father, I like to think that he's weirdly sensitive to his son's emotions, dubbed his "motherly instincts" by a teasing Columbina.
At first, it was nothing more than occasionally jerking out of a dead sleep because he felt like something was wrong. That something wrong being the child trying to hide his sniffles as he cuddled up on the couch in search of comfort- which Dottore can't have that, he'll catch a cold. The first few times it seemed to be a fluke, Anastasiy just happened to be upset and wandering around in search of a quiet place to cry where he wouldn't be in the way. But after a coincidental string of instances, Dottore starts to catch on to something being... off.
Anastasiy isn't connected to the 'hive mind' of the segments. It comes with his baby status, apparently, but Dottore swears up and down that he can feel something. Most of the Harbingers just brush it off as him losing his marbles again, but Anastasiy starts seeking him out more at night, seems to take comfort in him being nearby. Hell, sometimes Dottore will wake up first and end up hunched over the bed, half asleep by the time the kid wakes up in tears. Dottore isn't Irnes, he isn't comforting by a long shot, but the kid grows on him, and he finds himself curled up in a bed two sizes too small for him with Anastasiy more often than not. His back isn't exactly happy about the arrangement, but it's worth it.
The closer he is, the less Anastasiy seems to worry, and he finds that he was wrong. He remembers thinking his son was nothing more than a little bastard, a version of him that loved mischief and mayhem- a burden, really. But now... He's found that the kid has inched closer to him, occasionally showing him his drawings and giving Dottore books to read. There's no longer that sudden bolt of panic, just a warm feeling that Dottore has never felt before.
And when he feels the pain of injury, the sadness of being betrayed by someone so close yet so far, when his son is too big to hold in his arms...
He still goes to him. He tends to his wounds, holds him by his side, and ignores the distant pulling, telling him that something is wrong.
Dottore is not a good man. He abandoned Anastasiy when he needed him most. He let his own anger and frustration get in the way of Pantalone's attempts to be amiable for the child's sake. He's fucked, and he knows it.
But Anastasiy deserves better. And he'll be damned if he doesn't give him his best.
