my conclusion after finishing the witcher season 2 is that they had a very clear storyline which is overall ok but the writing (especially on an episode basis) is weak at best

#props to the actors for working with what they had (esp yennefer fringila and triss)#yennefe's arc was..... i mean i know plenty of ppl don't like her s1 arc because of the whole motherhood thing #but i actually liked how it was focused and that it wasn't so much about motherhood itself but more about body autonomy #and the desperatr need of having someone to unconditionally love you and depend on you (at least that's how i saw it)#and her arc here had sooooo much potential but ultimately it was botchy in it's development #also jaskier. a beloved character. much needed comic relief but did nothing after geralt saved him #don't get me started on how fringila was far too naive at first and the moment she snaps out of it it's shown during a murderous spree #only to have her character dragged down AGAIN for being too naive. similar butchering to what happened to cahir's character in the end #only it's far far worse with fringila and hmmm cannot shake the feeling it's uh. racist writing actually!#idk. the dialogues weren't too good. ciri went through some good character development but she was very much the only one to do so #i mean geralt kinda did too but he's so stiff....... also tons of witchers around and they were all pretty useless for writing's sake #vesemir and geralt's relationship was good but felt underdeveloped. ciri and yen was good but rushed... ah #speciaf effects costumes sets & scenery lighting (the lighting!!!) were all very good #i think in the more technical department everything was pretty solid. can't judge the sound really because in dub it's a bit different #anyways at least i got to see 8 hours of very pretty ppl on my screen #laura watches stuff #also! you know those joke posts going around abt how shows actually need more s*x? yeah? well this is one of them lol #spicing it up a bit was not difficult wouldn't necessarily get in the way of the story and would actually help disipate the #storytelling tension given there is barely any comic relief at all for the most part (or any relief at all lmao all the calming acenes are #repetitive pseudo deep conversations between two characters lmao)

So About Sakura...

I was was watching Naruto Shippuden for the 193637290 time, and notice somethings on Sakura. We all know Kishimoto does not write female characters well, and knows how to ruins a pretty good character. That was analised by many professionals, all though thing are much better on Boruto Series.

But let's go back to the focus on Sakura. Mostly her Family.

During the movie, that I don't know if it's events are cannon os OVA, Infinity Tsukuyomi Dream, after the fight with the Akatsuki every parent is being kind to their kid. Recomendation's letters are mentioned by Ino's parent and everything.

Them we cut to Sakura. Look at her expression, she knows everyone is watching them... She knows what they are doing.

Sakura's mother enjoys hurting her own daughter feelings, here was some sings of it since the classic, those who have a narcissist mom will understand. Part of her problems with her mom is probably due to the fact that she keeps her head up no matter what she says.

Later you she that her mom is still on the same page, in front of the other she was "acting funny" so Sakura looks like she is "overreacting" but her face at the acene Sakura is leaving you notice she has more agressive face details.

So now this part...

Naruto was in a bad place on that moment, all those families together made him fell more lonely. Sakura complaning about her family to him sounded selfish even cruel.

Them she says: "If Sasuke was here he would understand me"

The point is that, they actually made research on Sasuke's life to try to find him. She know Sasuke's father was strict, that he had a favorite son, Itachi (a pressious man that should have been protected at all costs), so that is why she thinks/hope he would understand her.

Because, even though Sasuke's father asked to keep him safe, he never showed proud like he did for Itachi. Sakura is an only child, that has parents that never showed proud on her at all.

Ino even laughs at how Sakura's mother is making her fell, what a great friend...

Now back to the the coments "at least she has a mother" type, some people are shitty parents and leave emotional scars on their kids, our generation should and NEEDS to be more aware of that. Sakura became a kunoichi on her on, no family guide. Her mother never expected her daughter to be bigger them her as a ninja that is why she became more rude. On her childhood memories her parents are kind of superficial but normal parents, on the classic her mother is "just a little bit to strict", on Shippuden her mother is on role another level.

She was sort off proud with her gennin daughter, until Sakura was more them she was. She poses to a perfect picture with her Chunnin daughter, only to embarass her in front of everyone in a way that would look like, "Sakura can't take a joke". But notice, Sakura is the only one not smiling in the picture but the picture of her alone there was a big smile.

Sakura dosen't have a secret rough background, she has a secret rough present, one that no one would believe it's true even when she tells to one of her best friends.

At "Boruto Series" you see Sakura and Sasuke being proud of every single thing Sarada accomplishes, because they broke a cycle of constant criticism.

What was your opinion on Morgana’s thought process during 2x12? I think she chose not to confess to Arthur & Merlin about her meeting with Morgause because she believed it wouldn’t have changed anything - she didn’t have any knowledge of Merlin’s magic then, how could a servant & a mortal prince defeat a group of immortal knights? Plus she would’ve had to admit that she met with Morgause to eradicate Uther, which would’ve angered Arthur in an already stressful situation.

This is Fires of Idirsholas, right? First I'm gonna put here the parts where Morgana is okay?

MORGANA I wear it all the time. I can't remember when I last had a bad dream.

MORGAUSE But you do not seem happy. Why is that?

MORGANA I would be if I didn't have to pretend.

MORGAUSE Pretend?

MORGANA That I'm Uther's loving ward when I hate him.

MORGAUSE Have you ever imagined a new world, Morgana? One where Uther was no more?

MORGANA Sometimes.

MORGAUSE And is that what you'd like?

MORGANA I once had the chance to be his assassin.

MORGAUSE And what stopped you?

MERLIN By then Gaius was too ill. He didn't have a chance to treat anyone else.

[INT. KING’S PALACE, ARTHUR’S CHAMBERS – DAY] [Merlin enters.]

MORGANA I was worried about you.

MERLIN They're here! They're in the castle!

MORGANA Where's Arthur?

MERLIN Gone to find somewhere safe to move to.

this is why this episode is so hard to analyse from a Morgana POV. There's a lot of evidence (based on body language/acting/circumstance) which suggest that

she had no idea at first

she had growing suspicion that she was the source

morgause had something to do with it

she didnt mind that morgause was coming anyway

she understood that whatever was happening was going to be uther's downfall

I agree.

THEN WHY DID SHE DO WHAT SHE DID?

For me I think she was desperate enough to see what would happens. Beyond her fear of the knights and her fear of seeing everybody falling around her, she had trust that Merlin and Morgause would find a way to fix things.

She may have believed, that as long as Morgause, Merlin and Arthur were with her even as Uther and Camelot falls to sickness and ruin for the sake of the "new world" that Morgause promised, everything would be alright

So she's gonna withhold information on morgause and she would always ask about merlin's health and safety.

It was just a powerful sleeping sickness (i apologize to everyone who kept explaining this to me before). Maybe Morgana just wanted to see what was going to happen.

Was it selfish? self-absorbed? yes. Done out of revenge? also yes. Done out of love for sister, self and friend? also yes.

Evil? depends on who you ask.

All in all these are merely speculation. We do not have true Morgana POV. I cannot judge her fairly if I'm just going by headcanon and guesses. We have no real idea what was going on in her mind. I may be wrong about this too. but we are already 11 years too late lol. There is no correct answer to this.

Anime Expo pics!

I ‘successfully’ made it to Anime Expo. I had no travel issues going to LA and even had a day to visit the Getty (note, the building is super cool - the art is meh). Much delicious food was had and I bravely cosplayed on Day 2/Saturday of the con. All in all, the cosplay held up very well and was comfortable despite having to wait outside and stand in the famous lines of AX. Thankfully, most of them were in the shade but I did stand a bit in the sun and it was not roasting. Hoping to get some easy pics on the set in the Entertainment Hall, I still had to wait 30 minutes for a chance to pose - after 9pm! This con is bonkers crowded man. I would have preferred to have gone to Anime Central but my moving schedule prevented it. I’m thinking ACen or Katsucon next year already.

This is me trying to look thoughtful. I had the wrong color and size of fan since I’d packed the white one in my moving boxes by accident - along with the hairpin. I used a post it note taped around a pencil as my hairpin hack and just used the green fan to have a fan.

Here is a nice full shot of the outfit. I am very picky about shoes and walking around a con so I just wore plain black boots which were what I wanted.

The different layers were quite comfortable and I’m glad I used the cotton for the white/red layers. Here, I’m still miffed about the wrong color fan so I’m trying to look serious or something with it closed.

Of course, I still had to pose with it open - maybe if I’m really dedicated I’ll try to photoshop it. Gotta look all sly and mysterious . . .

When I checked my mailbox today I found this - oh the irony! You were supposed to be delivered before I left!

It isn’t an exact match but I’ll have to cosplay this at least one more time with better accessories! It turned out that I put on the cosplay before 8am, and wore it until almost 10pm! Thus, I died after all of the nerdy things I partook in all day. Turns out I put in ~16,565 steps that day. The wig also held up decently with my friend’s constant assistance when I had to put my bag on and off.

I really like messenger bags for crowds but, it was hard to put over the long haired wig. Going to the bathroom wasn’t difficult but tedious - I did not wear pants underneath for two reasons: 1.) it was hot outside 2.) shorts are much easier to work with than a regular pair of pants under all those layers.

I was also excited the the first person I spotted that day was Ah Xu! I’m so short ;_;

As far as I could tell, we were the only WOH cosplayers - unless someone else was hiding in the massive crowds (totally possible). I saw tons of Hualian and the MXTX cosplayers were huge. TGCF first, MDZS second, SVSSS third. I was happy to find a Liu Mingyan on Friday in the artists alley and we were excited to be SVSSS fans. I also found one Ranwan couple with great details - the matching red stone necklaces, and whips in red and gold. . . . but that was it. Maybe after the 2ha novel comes out in the fall, cons will have more 2ha cosplayers in the future. I know my next one is SQQ, but other series should have cosplayers as well. SPL would be great with Gu Mang and his single eyeglass or Yuwu.

So, I'm still trying to figure out what to do with this page, but I feel it may be best for me to migrate here rather than using the MagicalGirloftheDay account a lot on Twitter. It's very odd that nowadays Tumblr for me is fairly quiet, but my Twitter and Discord experiences lately in the magical girl community have been really parasocial? Thankfully, my DM's are only open to followers on there, but with 7K+ followers in comparison to the 133 here it's a lot more peaceful. To anyone who does follow my page there, it was down last week due to this kind of behavior (ie me trying to make things work with friends/followers, but it doesn't :/)

I think messaging for submissions and such is fine, but people being upset when I can't talk to them, sending me their medical information unprompted, begging me to talk to them, etc, was/is the typical experience on Twitter. Last week I decided to distance myself from someone who has done these things, as it's too much stress to have friends who are followers that seem to expect me to available to their emotional needs 24/7. The entire incident spiraled, and due to it happening during ACEN weekend it took me until Saturday morning to try and calm down. Telling people you muted them, get angry, etc (esp bigger accounts on their social media) as if it's their responsibility is beyond toxic. This was also someone I continously had issues with, but I think the other stuff along with the recent messages made me opp out of the entire friendship. ACEN was supposed to be relaxing, and dealing with someone else's expectations honestly ruined the trip for me.

Anyway, I'm stating this to say that when this if the page does become more active to not do these things. Do not beg me to message you. Do not dm requests for money, and then do it under the guise of mental illness. Do not flood my account every 30 seconds because I'm not responding, as I'm nearly 30 years old, I work regularly, and am not always near my phone. Do not also do the "um, actually" magical girl fandom stuff Twitter is infamous for, where you come to correct me on stuff I'm correct about, either. This is not how you curate friendships or acquaintanceships, and I'm not so sure why people think this will get them into anyone's social graces instead of being blocked.

Please... just be normal and not dm big accounts on Twitter and Discord weird shit/guilt trip messages. Even when making friends not tied to the Twitter mg space, it seems the more demanding ones always end up in my Discord space to carry the behavior there as well. I guess I'm too patient with people and need to remove people the first time they do these things instead of talking things out, as it's ruining my mental health.
