hello, ello !! can i pretty please request for some childhood headcanons of the Lin Kuei Brothers? (Bi-Han, Kuai Liang & Tomas.) Fluff, of course !!! Thankies !!

Childhood drama and nightmares

A/n: Omg, this sounds so cute!!! 🥺 I hope you don't mind, I added a little bit of angst for Tomas's part, give the fact that his family was murdered, I thought that might've needed to be addressed first before got to the fluffy stuff. Okay, that all❤️

Bi-Han

He didn't like you. That's at least what he wanted you to think. He was a cold and harsh person even when he was a child. A lot of pressure was put at such a young age.

The Lin Kuei were harsh in raising it's warriors, it was even harder to him than ks to the fact that he was was to inherit the role of Grandmaster some day. This caused him to develop quite a hard shell.

He had a soft side, but that was reserved for his brother, Kuai, and sometimes Tomas, it really depended on how he felt that day. He was scared to share this with anyone else, he thought he was able seen as weak and he was not weak.

So he never hesitated to put others down and hurt them with his words. You, unfortunately, were one of them.

Everyday without fail Bi-Han would find a way to put you down, either by mocking you or berating, whatever would work to hurt you.

But truthfully, Bi-Han admired you. You were kind, everyone loved you, no one judged you, he envied that. He tried to ignore your charming nature, but your warm disposition slowly melted away his icy cold shell.

He sees how good you and his brother get along and he gets jealous. He wants that, he wants to be able to talk to you the way he does, be near you the way he does, male you laugh the way he does.

You notice the strange way he looks at you two whenever you and Kuai are together. Like he can't seem to make up his mind on whether he wants to join in or attack Kuai. When you inquire about that then get gets very defensive.

He got very defensive a lot of times around you a lot of times. You were inching in closer into his heart and that scarf him. You made a part of him melt, you grew on him, he...liked you. But don't let anyone know he feels this way or he'll break your face!

Kuai Liang

The most loved of the Lin Kuei, the golden boy. Kuai Liang had a light around him that made people just adore him. You were different. If you didn't like him before, he charmed you with a bright smile and friendly attitude.

Though the Lin Kuei were harsh on him, he never lost his smile. You loved his smile. Who wouldn't love his smile? (probably Bi-Han)

You were close, Kaoi always macking sure you were seen, that you included even when the other kids didn't want you to be. He stuck for you many times against bullies. Either he'd use his family name to intimidate them or just beat them up for you.

You always appreciated how much he looked out for you. Though you couldn't help but wonder whether they did it because he was just a good soul or because he might have likd you.

Kuai always spooked you with love so you couldn't tell if it was out of friendship or some stupid little childhood crush he has done you. You couldn't tell. But if Kuai did have a crush on you, he'd tell you...right?

Anyway, Kuai was always thoughtful when it came to you. He'd bring you smack he remembered you said you liked, give his toys to you even though he really liked them, eyc. He really liked you, so he was willing to go the extra mile for you.

You two would talk about what you'd do when you were grown up. Kuai didn't exactly do what he wanted to be, but he did know that he wanted dall four of you to be together and friends for ever. And that would surely happen, right?

...right?

Tomas

A shy kid and an outsider, Tomas didn't fit in much. Thanks to the death of his mother and sister, Tomas couldn't be a normal kid. He was too traumatized to ever act normally again. That's why you and Kuai always made an effort to be there for him.

He was quiet and always soft to the corner. Whenever he did speak it was in a soft spoken voice. Unsure of itself with every word. He was so fragile that sometimes you were worried he'd be at the break of tears.

Tomas was so hard to be consoled when he broke down. Too scared to let someone get that close to him else they'd be taken away from his just like his family.

But somehow, you always managed to calm him down. You had that special touch, you were able to get to him where many others failed. He'd cry in your arms and he'd feel better afterwards. You'd find a way to cheer him up, either by telling a joke, reminiscing an old story,or just holding him.

You were with him most of the time. Bi-Han was cold to you, Kuai and you were close, but you and Kuai just seemed to have clicked much more compared to him. But that's okay, the three of you still hung out, Kuai led while you two followed.

Whenever Toma was bullied you'd be the first to rise to his defense. Threatening to do terrible things to them if they didn't leave Tomas alone. You would especially be very violently defensive if it was Bi-Han, what was his problem anyway?

There was a chance that you two liked each other. You always looked at each other's sort of lovey dovey stare. But this way slept between the two of you, if you did have feelings for each other, none of you spoke up so no one knew. But one thing was known: you'd be together till the end.

How to tumblr for artists… my own version

A collection of things that have been working for me, but may not work for everyone

~~~ your posts ~~~

!!!reblog your own stuff!!! you need to reblog your own stuff, there is nothing morally wrong with reblogging your own stuff regularly. in fact, it is morally right to allow the chance for more people to see your artwork.

~~~ queue it!! ~~~ my queue is 500 posts strong. maybe don't try to make your queue hundreds of posts strong in the same day omg but like… once every month or two i'll go through my whole blog and just scroll and "add to drafts" to every one of my own posts i have. then i'll use the "mass post editor" to add content warning tags. and add to queue, and shuffle. and then I write down what the date was for when I last added my posts to be reblogged on queue. this is helped by turning on timestamps for posts in tumblr "dashboard preferences" settings.

queueing is necessary and life saving for me. It takes out so much work with decision fatigue and the anxiety around posting. It also guarantees that even if I suddenly need time off or away from my phone, I don't just disappear and lose all traction. It also breaks the instant-gratification cycle that you expect when you finish an artwork. It's hard to keep creating when you post something and, when you're expecting to get that gratification, you get none... If you queue your new artwork to come out at a later time, you've separated that expectation - with time. It hurts less and contributes to a more consistent gratification thing instead of peaks and troughs.

~~~ tag ya stuff ~~~ when you're making a new post, the first 20 tags are what gets put into the searchable tags. do not feel shame for using lots of tags. shame is the mind-killer. tags are hard. hard to know what to tag a post with. hard to remember the tags. so I found some ways to help myself. maybe they'll help you too. dedicate some time towards just figuring out what tags you want to use. i have a list in my phone notes that i add tags to and reference whenever i'm making a new post. i have the phone right beside the laptop while i'm tagging so that i can just look at it and scroll. tags are the only way for people to find your artwork, other than people manually coming to your blog because they saw you somewhere. there is no algorithm. posting without tags, until you have an established fanbase, is throwing something into the void.

When I'm doing tag research, I look at what people seem to use - when you put something in the search bar, tumblr recommends you some that have a higher following, typically. Looks like this on desktop:

if you like one tag, look at what other people who use that tag also tag their posts with. Observe and learn how this tag is used. search through a bunch of them and write them down.

here's what i got in my notes, for the specific kind of art I post and look for:

these tags are sort of specific to me and the kind of art I make. You'll want to research your own tags, but this is an example of how I keep them organized to make posting more effective. I generally only write down a tag when it's got more than 2k followers. You might be tempted to use the tags with millions of followers, but I've actually found those a lot less functional for small artists. If your stuff doesn't immediately get a bunch of notifications, you're drowned out and pushed to the bottom much faster. But the bigger tags are better than no tags, so I keep them if I can't think of anything else to tag something with.

~~~ post at the right times….? ~~~

fridays and saturdays is when I post fresh new things... usually. every website has it's own peak hours, and you can find those hours in many different online articles that try to sell you social media growth services. tumblr is unique in having later hours.

please don't over think this. please don't let this consume the idea of when to post, preventing you from posting at all. it doesn't mean too much - if you post during very active hours, maybe your art would just be pushed down the feed faster. if you post at the end of hours, maybe everyone's going to sleep… if you post at inactive hours, maybe there's less 'competition'… if you post at the beginning of active hours, maybe that's just more time for your post to circulate for the day, if you have enough people reblogging it once it drops....

this also is in EST. So fuck the other time zones, I guess. I'm over here in europe knowing that the "best" time to post would be like 2-3am or something. It's like this for most english-speaking majority sites - higher traffic in north american time zones.

it's also worth mentioning that this is scattered as heck, compared to other social media sites. and it's not like, the activity times of your followers. it's not the best time to post for your niche. this is just tumblr, broadly. all of tumblr.

~~~ Plan ahead for annual dates ~~~

Your artwork will get more circulation if it's posted on a celebratory day. You could just put them on your calendar and if you're wondering what to make, look on the calendar for what's coming soon. For example, asexual awareness day, trans day of visibility, location-specific holidays, etc. Here's my phone notes thing with my own recorded annuals:

I got these dates from googling and reading different articles, but I find that I still miss dates, and then I add them for next year. If you know of some I missed, tell me and I'll add them please <3

~~~ reblog other people's stuff ~~~

tumblr is sorta about ecosystems. things get passed around within groups of people that are all following eachother. to enter this ecosystem, you must engage and reblog other people's stuff too.

if you reblog other artists' stuff, sometimes they'll come over and reblog your stuff too. sometimes they'll follow you back. this is called becoming a mutual. I'll search specific tags for the kinds of people I want to follow and the kind of art I like - those are listed in the screenshot of my tag note under "Tags for finding new people".

I see a lot of blogs out there that are very clean, posts are tagless, and are only for the artists' content. like scrolling through a portfolio. I imagine this is good for people who are migrating to tumblr but already have their own established fanbase from elsewhere.

you don't need to do reblog other people's stuff on your art blog, you can do this on a separate blog. but if the two don't look very closely correlated, it's hard to tell who you are when you're interacting. and hard to make sure people know that you are the same person as your art blog. and you gotta remember to promote yourself on your personal blog.

~~~ have an art tag ~~~

make your blog easy to search!

if i go to your blog, and you've written 'artist' or 'sometimes art' in your bio, i wanna see it… it make me so sad when i don't get to see it. i want to reblog it. please let me reblog it :(

to make a tag on your own blog searchable, you don't need to repost it to add a tag. you don't even need to reblog it. you can actually just go back to the original post and edit it to add your tag. I've seen post people just have their art tag be something like #(blogname)art . you can see my own in my tags image above. if it's very unique, then it'll work tumblr-wide. I think that's good, since the tumblr search function is really weird. Otherwise it should still work if it's not entirely unique, people just have to make sure they're searching specifically your blog to see only your stuff.

I like to have a link in my pinned post where people can click to have immediately searched for my art tag. Convenience is king. Keep in mind that most people are on mobile, and if something isn't immediately clickable, they often won't find it.

~~~ be consistent and be patient ~~~

!!!this time will pass anyway!!! how many notes you have is not correlated with how good you are as an artist. wanting to earn something from your art means you essentially have two jobs. two potentially full time jobs. this shit's difficult. most of the job is promoting yourself. don't undersell how hard it is to do… don't feel bad for not immediately succeeding. I would write about how hard it's been to promote myself, but it would just be long and sad I think.

This isn't a full guide, please feel free to add more!!

I'm sure in another year I'll disagree with a lot of this, it will become irrelevant with time, and I'll have a lot of different opinions. Chip in and share what you've been doing? Teach me? This is very overwhelming. Don't do it all at once, just like, try one thing at a time, and see how it works for you. Your niche might be different. One size does not fit all. If you're confused about some of the things I talk about in here, you might be on mobile. I do most of my queueing and posting from the desktop browser version.

Have you known that a ship exists, but you have never thought of it that much until one day you realize you ship it and you don't know how it happened? Or have you thought that a ship wouldn't work but then somehow were convinced otherwise? Or you didn't know about a ship and suddenly said ship is everywhere and you can't help but fall in love with it? Well, then this contest is for you!

Shipping is a very funny part of any media! There are ships and ships, some cannon you love or hate, some no-cannon that you wish they had ended up together... and ships you don't know how you ended up shipping.

Really, there are ships you don't know how you ended up shipping! One day you are chill, happy with your life, and the next you are obsessing with a ship you might not even have known that it existed. In fact, that has happened to me twice just this year, so I decided to create a contest for those ships!

Rules:

Please, be respectful to everyone. Don't be rude to someone just because you don't like the ship or be mean in the tags or reblogs. Let everyone enjoy what they enjoy.

Propaganda is allowed and encouraged as long as you follow the first rule!

You can submit any ship you want, however, because I am not very familiar with a lot of media, I will ask you to please refrain from submitting any ship that you think might cause controversy or if they come from a very controversial media (like Harry Potter or South Park). You will be helping me a lot if you do this!

There are three exceptions to the above rule is that you CAN'T submit an illegal ship, nothing that features an adult with an underage. These ships will be instantly banned.

Also, for this contest, I will not accept OC's as part of the ship.

And last but not least, nothing that features real people. Singers, actors, youtubers, streamers, NO-ONE of flesh and meat.

The ship doesn't have to be cannon, they might not even interact in cannon, who cares? As long as you don't know how you ended up shipping them, then you can submit it! You can even submit characters from different media!

You can submit as many ships as you want but don't submit the same ship twice. Number of entries will not have that much of an influence in deciding if a ship enters or not.

Instead, I added a question for you to tell how you realized you shipped this. It can be anything! You didn't know about the ship but one day you saw a cute fanart of them and OMG they are adorable together; you didn't think of them as a couple but someone convinced you that they are pretty cute together and know you are ready to sink with the ship; or you know that the ship isn't that good in the story they are from, but my god, how could you not ship them?

This is not mandatory, of course, but the funniest and most interesting stories will have a better chance of entering the tournament.

OMG YES<3 I've beent thinking abt prom w cove for days now. this is LONG btw, sm so I will make headcanons/another drabble with cove n reader clothes shopping and at prom <3

synopsis : cove asks you prom and it goes almost horribly wrong.

cove is totally shitting himself with nerves.

everyone has been asking their crushes, lovers, and friends to prom and cove wants to ask you so bad. he sees you looking a bit longingly at the public proposals and the way you stare at him afterwards with a look of anticipation and want has him reeling.

after a late night of looking at prom proposals and seeing one too many people get rejected at school, cove knew a public proposal was out of the question.

he'd die if you rejected him, and a public display of that would make him flee the country for sure...

cove had enlisted the help of his dad, a willing volunteer after cove almost busted at the seems during dinner last night with anxiety and tears.

they drove all the way to Prism Vista to pick up supplies, the likelihood of you seeing them at the store too high and cove certainly couldn't handle the teasing or knowing eye of the clerks, everyone knowing what time of year this was for seniors.

as his dad pulled into the driveway, cove exhaled shakily, noticing that you were still out with your family.

quickly snatching the stuff in his arms, cove slams the trunk and winces.

cliff laughs at his son's haste and tender nerves and throws the front door open so they can make haste on the board.

it takes a bit of planning, and the only thing cove tasked his dad with was the calligraphy, cove's hands far too shaky for such big letters, but he glues on plastic seashells and sand dollars for awhile before he helps his dad with painting the letters as he becomes more focused and determined to make this the greatest promposal ever.

eventually cliff left, letting cove take over now that he didn't need help with the preparations.

it's a corny poster, with "will you be my mermaid to my merman at prom?" in pretty blue letters and 'prom' in yellow glitter.

cove sits back, a bit hot from being hunched over and moving around as he ogled and analyzed the poster while working.

he wipes his forehead and moves the board to the guest bedroom where he knows you won't see it if you decide to sneak in his bedroom.

cliff notices cove cleaning up, and he perks up at his son's relaxed movements. "hey bud, all finish? how about we order some pizza?"

cove wasn't ready. well he was, he had the bouquet of your favorite flowers and the sign, and he even bought your favorite food from one of the restaurants in Sunset Bird.

instead of his usual way of entry, cove makes his way to your front door and knocks.

your ma opens the door, a sweet smile on her face but with a knowing look only a mother could have, cove pulled at the the collared shirt he wore and he really hoped between this half buttoned shirt and jeans, you didn't know what he was planning...

"cove, sweetie! looking for y/n?" noelani smiled, biting back a snicker.

cove distantly thinks that he hopes the sign doesn't blow away while he's here.

"y-yeah... um, is she here?"

pamela appears from behind, having been laid up in the living room. "I'll get her for you, don't run off!"

noelani hisses a scolding "pam!" at her wife's teasing and smacks her lips as pamela walks up the stairs to your room. "sorry sweetie, you're too easy for her to tease." she says bashful, knowing very well she can't help but snicker sometimes at cove and y/n's romantic fumbles and years of pining.

as cove distracts himself with small talk, you come down the stairs with pamela.

cove feels his heart beat against his chest, like a bee stuck in a window. he hoped you couldn't hear it, and with the way he felt, he hoped you couldn't see it beating out his chest as well..

in cove's hazy state, your moms have left and it's just you two.

"hey cove! what's up?"

cove swallows, wiping his hands on his jeans. you watch his mannerisms, you know them by heart and you see the sweat on his brow even though there's a chill in the air as the night befalls you.

"h-hey y/n.." great. as if he wasn't obvious before. "um, I wanna show you something, i-if that's okay.." cove laughs, and he tries to push away his worry. you never rejected him before, you always agreed with his crazy ideas or encouraged him to a better plan of action that still fulfilled cove's mild (or major, if he's feeling particularly bad) need for adventure.

you agree, and make your way across poppy hill.

before you reach the shore, cove instructs you to cover your eyes and he'll guide you to his surprise.

cove beams as your trust him, your eyes closed and covered by your hands as he takes you by the shoulders and helps you down the hill.

as you approach the park, cove sighs with relief as he sees his preparations are still there, he can even see the board hiding behind the jungle gym.

cove paced, waving his hands in front of you in a 'stay there' motion, as if you'd leave.

"tell me when i can open my eyes!" you laugh.

cove exhales, taking in deep breaths before he held it in anticipation.

he reached for the sign, briefly he thought about how embarrassing this was, he wished he could skip ahead but seeing your hopefully happy expression would make every second worth it.

"okay... open your eyes."

you shed your hands, and blink as you adjust to the light. eventually you beat the glare of the sun, and your mouth dropped in awe and shock.

cove feel hot under his collar, the breeze does nothing to relieve his edge.

while you're silent for the most part, besides a mumbled "what's this?.." that almost washes away with the beating waves of the sea.

cove speaks, "y/n.. i know you've been waiting for me to ask you, and uh.. i'm sorry i didn't ask you sooner. i was afraid you'd say no and that i'd embarrass myself and.." cove sighed, adjusting his grip.

"never mind. that's not what I wanted to say. y/n... i really like you, i have for a long time.. and i wanna go to prom with you. as my date."

cove flushed, his cheeks rivaling the color of the blushing evening sky.

you stood there, silently and shocked, but happiness bloomed on your face quickly. with watery eyes and a blinding grin you brushed cove's hands so he'd drop the poster.

cove drops the poster, smiling shakily as you wrapped your arms around him. "i like you too cove, so much. and i'd love to go to prom with you!"

cove grinned, happy as a peach. buoyed by the new development, he cupped your face. "can i.. kiss you?"

you nod, leaning into each others embrace and your lips meet in the middle.

you break apart, cove's head falls to your shoulder and water washes over your sandaled feet.

wait. water?..

the food! cove jumps up, suddenly remembering how close he'd put the food to the shoreline and the rising tide.

"the food! the flowers!" cove scrambles to the wet blanket he laid out, wishing he'd noticed this sooner.

he picks up the bag of take out, noticing how soaked the food already is. the tide must of washed over the food before cove came back.

thankful for small miracles, the flowers are only damp on one side but not bruised or flattened.

cove holds up the bouquet and presents it yet holds it close. "well... the food is ruined. the flowers are okay though?.." cove smiled sheepishly.

you sigh and approach, curling your hands around cove's trembling worried ones. "thank you for the bouquet, it's beautiful."

"i'm sorry.. i should've known i-" cove rambles.

"cove.." you try to sooth him.

"i hope you still wanna go with me, even after the majority of the surprise is ruined.." cove deflated, looking like a sad puppy who got his treat stolen by the other pup.

"cove! it's okay!" you push back his bangs, "I still wanna go to prom with you, even if our food and flowers almost got washed away for the fishes.."

he leans into your hand, blinking watery eyes.

"i'm glad.." cove brushes his nose against yours, leaning into your body. "so uh.. are we dating now?"

you laugh, "yes cove, if you'll have me as your girlfriend that is."

"of course!" cove kisses you again.

this is a great way to end your senior year.

Getting very tempted to make a list of pro-palestine blogs that think it's totally not horrifically disrespectful to post gore of the attack on Palestine. They legitimately do not care that it strips a person of their identity in life(often because they are unrecognizable), it indignifies them by using their corpse as shock value and it violates even basic respect of the dead to post their body without consent of the family or the individual. I may be only an arm chair psychologist and trying to learn how to properly handle grief but I'm sure your really fucking helping(/sar) the family when you post their loved ones corpse for all the Internet to fucking see and comment on.

Like imagen losing your kid in a horrific bombing and some white liberal half way across the world posts their dead body for everyone to see without remotely asking her family and they just say "omg my heart is with Palestine 😢 this poor little girl got her head torn off. I cry every night due to this massacre." And you just have to sit there and watch the comments fill with white tears and a few fuckers saying your daughter deserved it.

NGL I'd probably go fucking scorched earth if that happened to me and these fucking blogs do it daily then get mad at you when you point out:

(" the world needs to see this mutilated corpse to understand how bad it is!!" they say as if the death toll isn't right fucking there and these bodies don't have a right to dignity in death. Palestinians are not only corpses in the minds of the fucking iof but also apparent you. They are people and that applies to their fucking corpses. No one wants to be known and remembered by a picture taken of them when they died in a violent, torturous and degrading death. Imagine if that was you, or your sibling or your mom or grandparent or uncle or shit, even your dog. You'd be pissed and upset and dehumanized. Palestinians already have their grief forced into the spotlight by this genocide, do not make them share these horrible moments with the world.)

You do not get a special birthday boy pass to post gore because it's for a good cause. It's still fucking gore, it's fundamentally disrespectful and it's against tos for that reason. I'm not very strong opinioned about how people talk about certain social issues. There's a right way and a wrong way and some ways that ride the line. Gore posting is the wrong way, cut and dry. It invalidates your message and shows a lack of decorum for the dead. It's the basic principles.

Now I'm gonna talk directly to the people who posted gore from Palestine or any other horrific conflict world wide whose still not happy that I'm criticizing you. I'm gonna be nice here and I mean that:

I know it hurts. I know it's scary. I know thinking about it makes you angry and pisses you off and depresses you and makes you cry and have nightmares. I know that hurt and fear and anger at knowing something horrible is happening and there isn't much you can do about it. Posting dead bodies won't bring them back to life. Posting child corpses won't help your message get across. I know you desensitized to the violence but that's not the issue of your peers who tell you it's fucked up your posting dead bodies from a genocide. It's yours and it shows your basic respect is lost to your fear and you need to take a breather for a day and step off.

Everyone is exhausted. Everyone is scared and angry. You won't help us by upsetting other members of our movement with unnessesary and fundamentally disrespectful images of corpses. We know how bad it is, pictures just make people vomit and resent you. They don't change minds, they don't "show the reality" they don't even respect the living family of the dead. They do nothing. They are pointless. I know your tired of being gaslit and told this isn't happening and maybe you think those pictures prove it. They don't. The people who still think this isn't real and as bad as it is are going to look at that corpse and call it a lie, a prop. And now you've not only disrespected their body by posting it publicly for any ol creep and loved one of the dead to see, you've now made them a spectacle. A thing for them to point and laugh at and pick out "details that clearly show it's fake".

It helps nothing. It doesn't prove anything to those who don't believe it and it dosent show the truth of this genocide. All it shows is a dead person at the time their life was ended in a horrible and painful way and you have to sit with their body and the fact you've lost yourself so much in this you arnt shocked or surprised and that's concerning. You have to live with the fact people are going to spread their body far and wide across the Internet for any shock posters and necrophiles to disrespect. You put their body in that position when you could of stopped it, reported it and let them be known by a smiling picture in life of their family cropped from pictures the family holds dear. Now they are known as someone's favorite picture for numerous horrible and disrespectful reasons and you put them there. That's pretty shitty of you. Maybe get some therapy. Some help. Take a week break and take care of yourself.

And next time, when a mutual of yours thinks gore helps the movement, remind them the Internet is forever and although it's important we never forget this tragedy and we do everything we possibly can to stop it, this won't help anyone. Gore never does. Self harm for a righteous good never does. The same way you can't be held responsible for the things you think aka thought crime, the same you can't do good by thinking violent thoughts about iof soldiers or praying for Palestine. Hurting yourself won't help the movement and gore just hurts your friends. Think long and hard before you post that child's body and know to thousands, that's the only way they will ever see or know her, by her dead body. She deserves better. Her family deserves better. You know better. Do better.

you and jeremiah are polar opposites - he's wildly popular and fun and charming, always up for a party - and you're... not. you're quiet, and shy, and crowds make you break out in hives, most of the time.

unless you're with him. he's so sweet, and so gentle with you, so determined to know what you're thinking, what you like and don't like - everything that goes through your head. he's the only boy to care so much about the littlest details, and nothing in the world could have kept you from falling for him.

amid the loud whoops and cheering, jeremiah begins belting out the lyrics to taylor swift's 'lover.' you've already turned beet-red at this point.

"CAN I GO WHERE YOU GO," he all but yells into the microphone, amid the screams from the rest of the partygoers. "CAN WE ALWAYS BE THIS CLOSE FOREVER & EVER."

you practically want the floor to swallow you up at this point, but jeremiah's gaze doesn't leave you for an instant, and you can't tear your eyes from his - he looks too beautiful, a faint sheen of sweat sticking to his neck in the summer heat, darkening his curls. his voice softens as he reaches the next line: "i've loved you three summers now, honey, but i want 'em all..."

suddenly you understand what he's trying to tell you, in his own, loud, jeremiah-esque way, and you can't help tearing up a little, wondering how you ever got this lucky.

when the song's over, he bounds over to you at once - and you hug him immediately, burying your face in his chest. he holds you impossibly close, murmuring into your ear: "i really do love you, sweetheart. i'm sorry i didn't say it sooner. you don't have to say it back, don't worry."

but you do say it back - once, twice, a third time – and he can tell how much you mean it. and after that, nothing and no one can ever keep you apart. ♡

it's actually been leaked for some time, although — and not to sound whiny — any time i've posted it or just talked about it i've gotten 10+ anonymous messages telling me i'm the devil and ruining the establishment of taskmaster with my irresponsible gossiping. so i didn't post about it and deleted any of the asks/convo about the new cast, even though ofc everyone has had tonsss of thoughts about it 😅

anyways would have laid down my whole life betting john robins (one of THE most obvious future tm contestants, being such a good friend of alex's!) and joanne mcnally would be on so i feel very vindicated — and excited! — in that regard! we're gonna have a great time :)

i appreciate the message and you weren't the only person to say this, but i think some people are only part-way informed as to her journey reclaiming her name. her intention was never to scrap the nickname shappi or stop people from calling her that; it was 1) to reconcile her experience growing up in the uk with her name and how that led to her committing to shappi as a teen, and 2) to be published, credited, and billed as shaparak in professional capacities. she has clarified many times, including here and here, that it is totally acceptable to call her shappi; people on tv & radio still call her shappi after formal introductions, like in the new wilty when everyone calls her shappi throughout the entire episode; her social media handles are still shappi; and so on. she's shaparak, but that doesn't mean she "no longer goes by shappi". there is some confusion here i think some people are taking her journey, which was lovely to follow, as rejecting shappi — but that isn't the case.

i already updated her tag to 'shaparak khorsandi' a while ago and would definitely credit her full name where necessary, but socially, colloquially, like in the quick text post i made asking people to give shappi some love, there is no disrespect in calling her that! of course, plenty of people are credited by one name and are regularly called another/a nickname, like olivia colman who is actually called sarah by her family and colly by most everyone else. she seems really happy with having done her book and her recent show under her full name, and it's been beautiful to see her come around to love shaparak as much as she has loved shappi :')

btw for anyone who doesn't know, shaparak means butterfly in farsi!

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

No, as a general rule, I don't. I just feel like it's awkward to treat an AO3 comment as a conversation starter, I guess. Like, if someone wants to talk to me, my email address and Tumblr are in my AO3 bio. I do reply to AO3 comments if there's a question about the fic. Especially if the reader says their first language isn't English. I also will reply for the purpose of harassing friends.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Return to Sender and "I love you, (too/also)" are way up there in the angst department. For "I love you, (too/also)" I actually recorded a podfic of it, and I couldn't read the ending out loud without crying so I scrapped it. NO WAIT!!! I forgot about The Seven Weasley Horcruxes. Oh, Jeebus. Apologies in advance for that one.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Probably Eagles in Truro, just for the sake of everyone getting to have their polyamorous cake and eat it too.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Yes. Just... yes. Big yes.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yeah, most of my fics are explicit. I'm not really sure what kind of smut I write. I feel like my smut is probably more graphic than some. More jizz dripping on the floor and errant pubes in teeth than what's fandom typical.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

No, I can barely hold the HP universe in my head.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I don't think so.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yeah, several of them. I think it's cool as hell. If it's a language I'm familiar with, I help with phrasings and subtext and stuff.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yeah. I have a WIP collection that people can leave unfinished fics in, and then I finish them. And I'd say when I collaborate with an artist, there's enough back and forth that it counts as co-writing. Oh! And there's a WIP with @oknowkiss and @mintawasalreadytaken I'll eventually get back to writing, I swear, you guys, for real, I will finish that shower piss scene.

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

Joker/Harley Quinn, actually.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

OMG just one?! I have (briefly leaves to check Google Docs) about 100k in unfinished fics, plus outlines for about ten more. I think those are all going to get dumped as-is on AO3 in an anonymous collection, and I'm only going to finish the ones I'm actively posting (Seahorse, Glitch, 24k9).

16. What are your writing strengths?

Weird turns of phrase, I guess. Or at least that's what people tell me. I feel like I'm pretty good at not bogging down the pace with descriptions, but some people like to know the threadcount when they read smut. Honestly, I have way more strengths as an editor than as a writer.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Complete disregard for the em dash. If I were meant to use it, it would have a key on the standard QWERTY keyboard. I even bought an expensive-ass keyboard, programmed an em dash key for it, and still didn't use it. It wasn't meant to be. Who would like to buy a very fancy keyboard? I will also die on my double-spacing at the end of sentences hill. Going down with this typewriter skills ship. Maybe YOUR language evolves over time, but mine's stuck in 1987.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

That's one of my favorite puzzles. How comprehensible can I make the foreign language excerpt solely through the use of cognates and cues? Love it. 10/10.

{*} Truly I feel like this man would literally give his life for the people he loves. And if you hurt someone he loves, there's probably not many places on Earth to hide. He will get even somehow. Because he's hurting and he's angry and he's just not gonna let it slide.

{*} Bar fights... so damn many barfights. Let a person come up on you or try to force you into taking a drink you don't want to drink or God forbid, spike your drink with something. After Tim is sure you're okay and gotten you where you need to go, with the promise to be back as soon as he can, "I'll be right back, darlin, just stay put. Sit tight." and a forehead kiss, he's off to go find the person in question and nine out of ten, he's going to end up in a parking lot brawl. You always patch him up -unless you're in the ER because you got something slipped into your drink, and you never say anything to him about it because you know this is one small way that he shows that he loves you and he's loyal to you, protective over you.

{*} I feel like home invasions or something with him in the home would probably get real bad, real quick. See, this guy up here, he's not really afraid of too much and if somebody steps on his land, where his family happen to be, he's going to make them wish they hadn't, especially if he's awake before he has to be. I feel like if you woke him up because you heard something, he'd be putting a lock on the bedroom door and leaving you a gun or something while he went out -in underwear, at that, to go look for the intruder. And if he finds them and they fight, they fight. Before any of this happens though, bet your ass that he's gotten you and any pets/kids you have to safety first though. Either at a neighbors or in a locked room.

{*} In the case of natural disasters / weather / fires, he's somehow got a real clear head about him when you're panicked. He's learned tornado and fire procedure and while his house is up to code, he's not taking chances. He makes sure everyone he cares about is safe before getting his own ass to safety. He learned how to do cpr and basic first aid, I feel like he did.

{*} If you have a nightmare, he'll lay there and let you wrap yourself around him and he'll talk to you or hum to you in that silky thick drawl until you're asleep if you don't want to talk about the nightmare. If you do want to talk about it, he'll hold you close and listen. But he always reassures you that nothing like what you dreamed will ever happen if he can help it. He's very soothing to have for, tbh.

Thoughts on Beta Readers

Apologies in advance if this turns into a bit of a ramble; I've had a lot of thoughts in my head, and I needed to somewhere to formulate them into a coherent stream.

I made this writblr page about a year ago after realising that I have written loads of stories, but never really thought about sharing them. I still don't know what I'm ultimately going to do with any of them- I don't think I have the skills/fortitude to go through Trad or Indie pub, nor the stamina and/or headspace for self-pub and trying to be my own hype/marketing person just doesn't appeal to me.

I like the writing part of writing; not so much anything else, as anyone who has seen any of my other posts will attest to! I think in just about every post I've ever published, it's just me grumbling about editing!

Anyway- sorry, I digress (in my defense, I did say that this would be a rambling post, so you only have yourself to blame if you've made it this far into my diatribe!). I've only been brave enough to share snippets of my WIPs through tag games, and everyone who had liked, commented or reblogged something- has given me that little dopamine spike and helped me find some courage to share my work.

I put out a call for beta readers, and some amazing people have taken the time and effort to read something that I've written.

I'm not a confident person, and I really worried that my story was garbage. I think I've stared at the documents so many times, that I could no longer see the woods from the trees. There were bits that I wasn't happy with, but couldn't figure out why. I was worried that I didn't have enough research under my belt to handle sentitive topics. Some sections felt too heavy, or dull. I found my own writing boring, my characters bland, scenes didn't gel, action felt disjointed etc etc.

Basically, I was in a bit of a tailspin, or a slump, a funk...and I didn't know how to dig myself out of the hole that I'd managed to clamber into. Normally, when I finish a WIP, it's done, and I don't do anything with it. It just stays in my docs folder, and backed up to an external hard-drive.

Rather than just continuing to stare at a document for hours, wondering what to do, I found my beta readers, and sent my first draft over to them (hoping that I'd managed to find all typos- lol, that didn't happen. Typos still managed to escape me -_-' )

I've seen several posts on my dash from folk complaining about interaction and the writblr community. My posts don't get a lot of engagement, which is fine (not trying to join a pity party- just stating facts!) but I've found that the interaction that I do have from followers, mutual or random folk has been really meaningful.

I've gone from dreading sharing my work, to being excited to post snippets, and being tagged in games, getting to see what everyone else has been working on. (I appreciate that I'm a bit of a hypocrite, as I'm not very good at engaging with others on this site- I worry about coming across as a complete weirdo creep, and I struggle to find new ways of saying 'omg, I love this, show me more' in the tags! Or to think of asks to send, even though several people diligently send me asks every week! I'm trying to get better, I promise!)

Sorry- rambling again. I just...adklsdfgskhdfh

I'm honestly gobsmacked by the effort that my beta readers put into my WIP, and the kind comments, feedback and suggestions that they've made. I genuinely believed that I would get ' meh, it was okay' in the best scenario that I'd worked out in my head. Their engagement and feedback has been so helpful and I appreciate it so much.

It's helped me identify the sticking points that I was having, why I was unhappy with some scenes, characters etc etc. They have really helped me take that step back, and re-evaluate things, rather than just staring at the screen and feeling like a deer in the headlights. I was so worried/scared about sharing an entire WIP, but it's been worth it.

So, if anyone is in the same boat as me- scared to take the plunge- dip your toe in the water. Share snippets, work up to finding a beta reader or two, get outside input, rather than just sitting and staring trying to work it out on your own.

There are a lot of people out there willing to share their knowledge, and help you get the most out of your story.

Your tags under the pokemon poll are SO TRUEE and it hurts how many people dont understand that

I grew up in the change from pixel art to 3D and have nostalgia for bw, xy AND sm. So i think because of that, I can see the good and bad in all the games but don't feel like any of them 'peaked''. They're all different games, so they are really hard to compare.

On a related note tho, its so sad to see so many fans praise one of my childhood games and not the others. And like, I get it because gen 5 is more similar to what they grew up with.....but every time I say I love xy, sm and even swsh i get told they are terrible and usually imply that I shouldnt like them :/

That only happens online, though......irl all the fans ive met, no matter their ages, just say something like 'i didnt like it, but i'm glad you did!'. Growing up in irl fan spaces and having to move online during corona was AN EXPERIENCE omg

Yeah! It's super interesting how much we are affected by nostaglia.

There's usually a pattern you can notice with this stuff too. There are two lines that go up as time goes on. The one everyone talks about as being great and the newer one people hate on, usually to do with nostalgia of the now older original audience of the game.

My first Pokemon game was Colosseum, so gen 2/3 pokemon and gen 3 sound effects are pretty nostalgic to me.

Then I grew up mostly playing Diamond/Platinum/PMD2/Ranger2. I LOVED Team Galactic. I restarted the games so many times just so I could play through the story again with Cyrus and the Galactic Grunt theme. (I have also played through pmd2 many many times). I remember in my early teens seeing people on the internet hating on DPPt a lot and it making me sad. I recall someone saying that the gen 4 Pokemon sucked and I remember thinking "aw I guess they're right, some of these pokemon are really boring or annoying" and then I learned later that the pokemon I was thinking of were all gen 1 pokemon sdfkjsh

Gen 5 was hated when it first came out because it wasn't very fun for new players. I bet it also didn't help that the advertising for B2W2 was pretty poor and also came out after the 3DS did. I didn't even know it was a sequel until years later. That's why they went in the complete opposite direction for gen 6, and added gimmicks!

I have heard multiple people call the designs from gen 5 horrible over the years (And they're all wrong). Those comments are nowhere NEAR as frequent now, but they almost always come from people with nostalgia for the ones they grew up with.

I was 13 when BW first came out. I think I've only beaten it once, MAYBE twice. I'm not entirely sure why, because I was still replaying DPPt a lot. I would guess it's because the game is super linear in terms of gameplay and every playthrough will start exactly the same. You don't really get to make decisions on your team and how you play until later. Kid me loved the beginning of the main pokemon games the most because they were the most fun bits to play usually. So I suppose when you've already played it once, the beginning becomes quite boring.

And to compare. I did not like XY when it first came out. I was 16 and very against change and also my fav types at the time were dark and dragon so fairy type was the worst thing ever. I said previously that I really liked Team Galactic, so Team Flare was just a bootleg version of them to me. BUT I did immediately replay the game when I finished it. The character customisation plus the huge dex gives the game a lot of replayability. Because while I didn't like a lot about the game it was still fun to play, and it was the first time online was really accessible to me. I went back to 2013/2014 on my blog and there's SO much positivity about the game it's amazing! Over time people only remembered the bad parts and started hating it. I bet there'll be an influx of nostalgia for it before long. We can even see it in the hope people have for SV having Kalos DLC.

I need to replay sun/moon or play USUM because in my brain currently it sucks. But I'm very aware that that's because I only played it once, it's been years, and I played it when I started to grow out of Pokemon. So I'm excited to play it again now that I can appreciate it better. (Also the Sun/Moon anime is my fav so I have a lot of love for the characters now)

And finally, I loved SWSH! I didn't finish it the first time I tried to play it. Mostly because I spent HOURS trying to get a shiny hatenna before doing the fire gym skdfjhs. But then I SPED through the game with a bug type only run before Legends came out and I really enjoyed the story! One of those things that's more enjoyable if you're only focused on enjoying the story (and playing the game through with a joltik as the lead and trying to make sure they stay strong enough to beat the game with pfft) Also Leon was the first ever Champion I actually thought was cool and enjoyed seeing while playing the game (as ridiculous as his outfit is)

If I were to logically plot out the best for me based on how nostalgia works and taking into consideration that public opinion ABSOLUTELY influences me. I would have said BW was the best and XY(or SM) was the downfall, even though I had way more fun playing XY than BW as a kid

Tag game: eight shows to get to know me

I was tagged by @scienceoftheidiot and @goneadrift (thank you!! 🥺💕), and now the deal is that I get to rant about a couple of shows I like, so let's get straight to it!

1. House M.D.

- Knowing how many seasons are there in this show, I think it says something that I purposefully rewatched the full thing several times, and I probably will do it again at some point. Many characters from this series have a special place in my heart, and oh boy do I love myself a good medical drama sometimes. + the different medical cases are just very interesting for me to observe, even though I am by no means a medical specialist, let's say I know a thing or two from this field x)) (and some of you are probably aware of that, ahah)

2. Lethal Weapon

- This one is another one of these shows that I occasionally come back to for a rewatch, the chemistry between two main characters is amazing, and the main plotline is pretty good imo, + it's a classic detective-involving series, where, granted, not every case is super intriguing or complicated, but I think the characters and their development and relationships with each other - all this usually goes first when determining a series that I'll most probably like, and it delivers that part for sure! (Yes I used this specific gif because now I can't stop picturing this, but with Royais + Hughes, lolol, sorry I have a brainrot)

Also, look at this silly little totally not dysfunctional guy, come on, you can't help but love him:

3. Lucifer

- Ohohoho this one was one of the first quite long-term obsessions for me - I was watching it with my good friend as it was coming out (pretty sure starting from like, season 2 we began to watch it as it was airing, or at least I was and then I dragged this friend along for the ride, ahah), and I remember having so much fun with it - making theories, trying to predict the direction for the next season, simping over the main cast, being (more often unironically than not) frustrated with love triangles, all the good stuff. I also really like the soundtrack used in the series, and, of course, I have to mention the fact that its main leads are a blonde badass detective who is actually a sweetheart and her goofy dark-haired bastard-certified material partner who can actually be very scary and powerful to anyone but her :333

Go figure if I have a type or not, right (omg I just realized she also has a cute pet name and it's "detective")

4. Fleabag

- This one was such a pleasant surprise for me, the further I was watching the more invested into it I was getting, and in the end it turned out to be such an emotional rollercoaster, while also being able to handle a balance between more serious scenes and great humor really well. The romance plotline turned out to be very interesting too - overall, it's a great pretty short series that I can definitely recommend for people to check out at some point (I was indeed very happy when I found out @goneadrift was watching it too, hehe)

5. Sherlock (the BBC one)

- Honestly, this one is associated with many good memories for me - we used to watch it for a couple of years in a row with my parents during New Year, and it was like, one of the highlights of our celebration. Life just seemed so much easier these days, and I always remember them with warmth and joy. But! Apart from the sappy stuff - I genuinely think it's a nice modern AU Sherlock adaptation, hehe, as always, I pay a lot of attention to the chemistry between the characters, especially the main cast, and I think pretty much everyone nailed it - I find the characters from this series to be very enjoyable to watch. The other point that I want to mention here is the directing - I remember myself being very impressed by some of the shots and directing/editing choices they made there, and, of course, the main soundtrack is now pretty much engraved into my memory, hehe

(So yeah, aside from the last season, which I don't think is that bad, but definitely not as good as the earlier ones imo, it's a great show!)

6. Elementary

- Surprise surprise, another Sherlock adaptation involving detective storyline(s), who would've thought, right? Honestly, I don't remember a lot about it, since I haven't rewatched it in a looong time, ahah, but, believe it or not, I still love it and have a couple of good memories associated with it. Used to watch it during weekends back in the day when I still watched TV, lolol, but yeah, I think it's a pretty unique Sherlock adaptation, and you can definitely have fun watching it!

7. Forever

- That one is unexpected, definitely not my usual series of choice, but surprisingly I finished it pretty quickly and was glad I decided to give it a shot x)

(For the record - it's a series about a guy who works in the morgue while trying to find how to get rid of his immortality curse 👀👌).

8. Fullmetal Alchemist

- Gonna follow the lead of @scienceoftheidiot and add this one on the list too, because my god this series has me in a chokehold. Specifically Royai stuff of course, but I think in general this is the kind of anime (both FMA and FMAB btw) people who are generally not that much into anime can enjoy (I am saying as I am, apparently, one of these people, ahah). It's just a great story with a great cast and lovely imagery and soundtrack, I mean, what else can you possibly need? (Meanwhile here I am, going absolutely insane every time I think about my two beloved war criminals kissing)
