@bullet-prooflove has gotten me starting to watch Grimm. If any new stories pop up, it's her fault.

Hmmm, thinking about that beautifully complex relationship between Renard and Nick. Like are they enemies? Are they allies? Friends? Both manipulating each other and manipulated by each other? Don't know where they stand with each other but know exactly how the other acts and so they trust each other almost fully?
Absolutely fascinating. THE LAYERS to this. I could spin them in my head all damn day

Hello lovely author! I've been devouring your Sean Renard fics and would love to request a Sean Renard x Siren! Reader where they're getting married and it's all dramatic because her family turns up at the 'I object' part and a whole lot of drama ensues, with a happy ending. If it's alright, and you have the time. If not, its totally okay and I'll still continue reading the lovely fics you write.
It’s here!! Oh, this was so much fun to write. I swear I have created a monster with our Siren and her captain. I am in love with this character pairing.
Seaside Wedding is now available.

Ace Of Clubs: Chapter I - The Day After
Series Masterlist My Masterlist
Word Count: 3.2k Chapter Warnings: None. Lightly proofread.
Summary: Ace meets the crew.
Where are people like me supposed to go? Do we even end up anywhere at all?
Tumblr media
"Thanks, Renard." I managed a small, appreciative smile, before moving to turn away. He still hovered over me, his arms slightly out to support me if need be. I was shaky on my feet and weak, it was only the next morning after the prelude, after all. He had insisted that I stayed longer- having only stayed the night, I was barely patched up - but I had been adamant on returning to my apartment. I would have felt awkward staying any longer than I needed to, even if that meant I was on my feet much quicker than I should have been.
"Sean." He corrected me, a slight smile on his face.
"Sean." I corrected myself, nodding at him. "Thank you. Really, I appreciate it."
"Any time." He nodded back, shoving his hands in his pockets and walking away. As soon as I made it into my apartment, I collapsed into the tattered sofa with a groan of pain. I had felt woozy and uncoordinated the entire time, barely standing on my feet. I was exhausted and I passed out almost instantly.
I awoke with a groan pawing at my phone to shut the blaring alarm off. Then, I realized I didn't have an alarm. An unknown number flashed across the screen, my ringtone going off loudly and uncaring. I propped myself onto my elbow with a wince, reaching for my phone.
"Hello?" I asked cautiously, not sure who was calling. I never kept the same number, using burner phones most of the time so I couldn't be tracked so easily.
"Ace." Sean Renard's voice greeted me.
"Renard?" My voice was hoarse with sleep. I pulled the phone away from my ear, glancing at the clock with bleary eyes. I had been asleep for 12 hours.
"Are you up for meeting Nick?"
"Uh, yeah sure, I guess. What time?"
"In an hour. That sound good?"
 "Yeah." I said hesitantly.
"If you need more time to heal-" He started.
"No. No, I'm fine. I'll be there."
"Good." He hung up.
I tossed my phone onto the other side of the bed, easing back onto the mattress with a groan. I still felt horrible, feverish almost, but I had been keeping the bullet wound clean. I just hadn't been resting enough, I told myself.
I had spent the past week, when I wasn't sleeping, going over book after book of wesen groups, trying to figure out the new group that had been tracking me. I had been looking for the symbol they left - a scythe usually drawn in blood- to no avail. The thought put me on edge. They had been following me wherever I went since I had started taking up cases in bigger cities. I hated not knowing, at the very least, who was following me.
I eased out of bed, my facr screwing up in pain. I sat on the edge of the mattress, pulling my shirt over my head. My breath hitched in my throat at the movement, the wound on my torso tingling and burning painfully. I tugged on another shirt, before pulling on my jeans and standing up, my hand held slightly to my side.
I pulled up to the police station in the old, beat-up car I had bought from a man in Beaverton. I changed cars as often as I could too. It threw them off my trail for a bit without fail, giving me precious extra days. They were well aware of my tricks by now, I was pretty sure, but so far they hadn't found a way around it.
I slammed the creaky door shut, rust and peeling paint flaking off as I did so. This had to be one of the worst cars I had found so far, but it was cheap, and all I could find in time with the group hot on my tail. I walked up the stairs, an arm pressed tenderly against my side as the movement jarred my still-healing injuries. I nodded politely at an important looking woman - a lawyer, perhaps - that held the door open for me, before walking off in a hurry.
Once I entered, I looked around, slightly overwhelmed and confused. I stood off to the side of the hall, watching people walk by at a brisk pace and wondering how to find Renard. I stopped a man in a uniform that didn't look like he was in a hurry, flipping through paperwork as he walked. I stepped out in front of him and he glanced at me, looking me up and down judgmentally.
"Do you know where I can find Captain Renard?"
"He's in his office, third door to the right, walk past all the desks and you should find it." He side-stepped around me, clearly in much more of a hurry than he was before. I watched him walk off wearily before following his directions, turning into the third door to my right.
I entered a busy room filled with desks, a man with dark hair and blue eyes glancing up at me as I passed. A room covered with windows was placed to the back, which I could only guess was his office. As I neared, I could see the police captain sitting at his desk, papers stacked next to him and a manila folder in his hands.
I knocked on the door hesitantly, greeted with a "Come in," I opened the door, creeping in with a sheepish smile.
"Ace, you made it."
"I said I would."
"Of course, of course." He closed the folder, placing it down on the desk opposite the stack of papers and folding his hands out in front of him.
"I'll get Nick in here in a minute, he's in the middle of a possible wesen case right now." He started, leaning forward in his chair slightly. "How are you feeling?"
"Been better, but I've had worse." I glossed over the rest, saving him from the gory details. He frowned at my vague answer.I sighed.
"Not too great," I admitted. "But I'm feeling better. I've just been busy."
He raised an eyebrow. "Not busy hunting down wesen or getting chased by bad guys, I hope? It's a bit soon for that." His voice had turned slightly teasing.
I smiled. "No, research kind of busy. I'm excited to meet another grimm, though. It'll be nice to have someone to talk to all this about, and I'm sure he knows things I don't. My father had quite a few books, but most of them got destroyed. I inherited what was left, which wasn't much, but it gave me enough to go off of so I knew I wasn't losing my mind when I started seeing wesen.I'm still pretty new to this, I guess."
"You'll have plenty to catch up on, I'm sure. You're-" He was cut off by a knock on the door. He smiled dryly. "Speak of the devil," He muttered. "Come in!"
He and I stood up simultaneously as the man at the desk from earlier walked in. I nodded politely when he glanced at me, shoving his hands in his pockets.
"Nick, Ace. Ace, Nick." Sean introduced us.
He shook my hand, glancing at the captain in slight confusion.
"What's this all about?" He asked good-naturedly.
"Nick, Ace is a grimm." Nick's eyes darted over to me, widening in surprise. "They've been on the move for quite some time, but have decided to give Portland a try." I nodded in agreement.
"Well I- welcome." He stumbled. "Sorry just, never met another grimm before." He laughed nervously.
"No, no me neither." I grinned, not finding him nearly as intimidating or brooding as I thought he would be. He was open and friendly, and I could certainly see working with him on cases as Renard had suggested before.
"How long have you been a grimm? Or that you've known of, anyways."
"A little over a year now. I thought I was going crazy."
"I think we probably all thought that at the beginning, right? I mean it's nearly impossible not to, unless you were exposed to it from a young age."
"Yeah." He agreed, cut off by the ringing of his phone.
"Gotta take this." He smiled apologetically, turning away.
"Burkhardt..Where at? Alright, I'm on my way." He turned back to me. "Hey, what do you say about joining us on this case?" He asked, his eyes flashing over to Renard. "If that's alright you?"
The captain waved his hand. "If they're up for it, go ahead."
"Sure."
"Bank robbery, witnesses said the perps had 'very realistic animal masks'. Nobody could quite tell what they were, but a woman said one looked like a wolf." A man about my height briefed us on the situation, glancing over at me. "Who's this?" I hesitated, looking to Nick for help. I was unsure what our excuse was, or if we even needed one.
"They're with us. They're uh, a criminology student." Nick stumbled.
Sergeant Wu, as his jacket read, looked at me skeptically. "A little old for that, aren't we?"He deadpanned. I half-glared at him, not sure where Nick or the others stood with him. They acted pretty friendly towards one another, and I didn't want to piss anyone off that I would be 'working' with.
He held his hands up in mock surrender. "Kidding, kidding." I suddenly noticed a man not-so-inconspiciously waving his hands around, trying to get, I presumed, Nick's attention.
"Anyone hurt?" Nick intercepted.
"Nope. Just a few people shaken up." I bumped Nick's elbow with mine, nodding my head over to the man when he looked at me. His eyes widened slightly, before he jogged over to him, motioning Hank over.
"Monroe?"
"Finally dude!" He huffed. "These guys broke the Gesetzbuch Ehrenkodex."
"The what?"
"You know, it's a wesen law of honor. It forbids any wesen from exposing their woged form to take advantage over people. Like robbing a bank?"
"So how do we deal with this?" Hank cut in. How many people were in on the whole grimm thing?
"It has to be reported to the council, or Nick could, y'know, deal with it as a grimm."
"What? No," Nick started. This time, it was Wu who cut him off. "We got some footage off of the security tapes, if you wanna take a look."
Nick glanced at Hank, then me, before nodding and following Wu over to the computers. l leaned down, favoring my injured side and watched over Wu's shoulder as he replayed the footage. As the 'animal masked' perpetrator moved about the screen, I shared a knowing glance with Nick, not daring to say anything aloud. We watched a bit more of the footage before heading out, Monroe in tow.
"That one was definitely blutbad, the one at the register camera?" I said as soon as we exited the building. I figured Hank and Monroe were fairly well educated in the wesen world, especially what Monroe had said earlier. He was definitely wesen. I was unsure about Hank.
"Agreed." Monroe chimed in. "They both were, I'm not sure about the third guy though.."
"You're wesen?" I asked suddenly, glancing at him as we neared the cars. He rolled his eyes jokingly, splitting off from our group to his own car. "Is it that easy to tell?" He waved, slamming the door behind him. I slid into the back of the police car, Nick getting into the driver's seat and Hank in the opposite.
I leaned forward, resting an elbow on the metal grate. "So who all is in on this?" I asked curiously.
Nick's eyes briefly looked into the rear view mirror. "Hank. And Renard. That's it."
"Sergeant Wu isn't on that list, I'm guessing?"
"No." Nick shook his head.
"Are you wesen?" I asked, directed at Hank. He couldn't be a grimm, I figured, as Nick had said I was the first grimm he'd met.
Hank turned, looking back at me. "No. I'm just a," He hesitated.
 "Kehrseite-Schlich-Kennen?" I finished for him.
"Yeah, that." He laughed.
"Don't worry, it's a mouthful."
We pulled into a storage lot, and I glanced around curiously. Nick pulled up next to an old looking trailer, he and Hank simultaneously exiting the car. I slowly opened my door, cautiously eyeing the lot.
"What's this?"
"My trailer. Well, actually my aunt's." Nick explained, flipping through his keys before unlocking the door. He turned back to me with a grin on his face. "You said you have a few books?"
"Yeah. Like I said, what my father managed to salvage. A couple weapons, too."
"You'll love this then." He disappeared into the trailer with an excited wave. Hank followed, briefly turning back to me with a nod. I trailed behind them, walking up the creaky stairs carefully.
I gazed around in awe as soon as I poked my head in, the musty, but comforting faint smell of old books mixing with stronger scents of herbs and various concoctions that reminded me of my earlier days of being a grimm; before I had been forced into a life on the run. I had ended up turning a room in my apartment into something like this, before I realized I would have to be moving constantly; It had become a comforting, safe place for me, a place where I wasn't crazy. Where I was understood, if only by the ancient books my father had left me and the herbs I mixed and brewed.  When I had been forced to leave the first time, it broke my heart to move and pack everything into boxes and leave. Even though I hadn't left a single item behind, I hadn't moved any of the items since my father's death. I inhaled deeply, a smile growing larger and larger on my face.
My eyes finally settled on Nick, noticing the grin on his face. I broke into a grin too, a breathless laugh leaving my throat.
"This is all yours?" I asked him, shutting the door behind me and beginning to take a closer look at everything. I gently ran my finger over the spine of an old, leather-bound book, much like the ones I had.
"It is now." He said, leaning over my shoulder to open the book, inviting me to look through it. "It was my aunt's. She said it's been in my family for generations. I thought it was a bunch of junk, at first, but I see why now."
"There's so much history in here-" I murmured in wonder, flipping through the pages, gazing curiously at the sketches of wesen I had seen, and even more curiously at the ones I had not, my eyes skimming over their names.
"I have a few books like this, from my father." I said without looking up, my eyes still glued to the pages. "He was a grimm. I didn't find out until basically after he died, though."
"I'm sorry." He said sympathetically.
"Don't be. I guess we both sort of had to find out the hard way, huh? At least we got some warning." He huffed at that.
I glanced up from the book suddenly. "Hey have you seen-"
"Found it." Hank intercepted, holding out a book. I stepped to the side, watching as he flipped through the book. He sighed in frustration. "No translation. It's in German."
"I'll call Monroe," Nick pulled out his phone.
"Wait." I said. "I can translate it for you, if that's what you want."
They both looked at me in surprise. "You speak German?" Hank asked in disbelief.
"Yeah, I mean a bit. I can roughly translate it, I'm not the best at it but-"
"Go ahead." Nick said, stepping away.
I picked the book up, holding it carefully in my hands."The Council of Walenstadt, in 1521."
I read over it, my brow furrowed in concentration and slight confusion. I had been a grimm for almost two years now, and I had no idea the wesen community had their own council and their own laws. I figured something was keeping them in line, but I had thought it was only grimms.
"...it establishes guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of the Wesen Community," I read under my breath, deep in concentration. Finishing the page, I looked up at the detectives standing on either side of me.
"So basically, very bad things happen when wesen reveal themselves and use that to take advantage of the 'normal folk.'" I sighed. "It might not hurt to talk to Monroe about this regardless, he might be able to tell you more."
Nick was already on it, dialing his number into his phone and placing it on speaker. "Monroe? Can you tell us anymore about the wesen council?"
He launched into an explanation, basically telling us what I had already read in the book. "When word gets out, a lot of wesen are gonna freak, and when the wesen community gets freaked, it is not good. Somebody is gonna know somebody who knows somebody, who knows somebody else, and he's going to start asking questions." He finished.
"Thanks Monroe." Nick said briefly, ending the call. "..Well, any ideas?"
They had brought me back to my car, telling me that I could go home if I wanted to, but they were going back to the precinct to review the footage again. I insisted on coming along, following the police cruiser down to the P.P.D.
"We lost them a couple of blocks from the scene." Wu explained, replaying the security tape footage for the twelfth time. "But, I found two additional cases that seem to fit the MO of the culprits, take a look." He slapped a folded down on the table in front of us. "I'll circulate a copy of the mask pic to stores that might sell that kind of thing around here. We'll find em." He said, turning away. "See you tomorrow!" He waved over his shoulder, shrugging his jacket on. That caught me off guard, as I glanced at the clock. 9:45.
"That late already?" I mumbled to myself, stretching my sore muscles. I winced, completely forgetting about my injury. I had also forgotten to take my pain pills.
"I think I'm going to head home. Sorry guys." I stood up, wobbling slightly on my feet.
"We should be going too." Hank agreed, tapping Nick on the shoulder, who looked up, startled. I smiled slightly. I had the feeling he was definitely one to get lost in work or books.
"It was good to meet you guys." I smiled.
"You too, I'm glad there's another grimm around." I shrugged on my jacket tenderly, glancing at the captain's office. It was dark.
"The captain left maybe, fifteen minutes ago." Nick said, following my gaze. I nodded, walking off. I heard the rustling of gathering items as I exited the room, before two pairs of footsteps joined me.
I called out, "Night!" to the detectives as they split off to their own cars. I paused for a brief second, looking around cautiously and pulling my switchblade out of my pocket. I walked briskly to my car. A tall figure suddenly appeared next to me as I reached for the handle, and I leapt back, my blade springing out...

Nick Burkhardt || How you met
Nick's P.o.V "Could it be Wesen?" Hank asks me as we read over our cases "Maybe, we'll have to wait for the ME's report to be sure," I reply. "Excuse me. I was wondering if you could help me." I hear a woman say behind me. I turn around to see a woman in her early 30's and dark chocolate brown hair. "Hello luv, I'm Detective Burkhardt. Is there anything I can help you with?" I question. She smiles and walks closer to my desk, "is there a Sean Renard here?" I return her smile, "Captain Renard? Yes but I'm afraid he's not here at the moment." "Is there a chance I could wait?" She questions with a hopeful look in her eyes. "Sure," I say as I get up to grab another chair, she sits down after I bring her a chair. She glances at the crime scene photos and mutters something under her breath. "Is there something wrong?" "Could we possibly go into the office? I wouldn't want people over hearing... I heard you and your partner talking," She questions looking between me and Hank. Hank and I stand up and take the woman into Renard's office. "So what is it you wanted to talk about without being overheard?" Hank questions after I close the door. She looks directly at me, "are you the Grimm Sean's been talking about?" "I am. Can I ask your name?" "Y/N." "Do you know what happened to our victim?" I question. "It's a Hexenbiest that's killed him. I know the curse..." she responds, "I assume you didn't ask Sean about the case?" I look at Hank and then at to woman, "how do you know it's Hexenbiest?" "Because I've used the curse... several times," she responds as she woges.

Smutty Blog Introduction
Hello fellow earthlings! I’ve been debating for a while now on whether or not to become more active on this platform. Given the short nature (ish) of the content here, it seems like a good option given that I’m currently quite busy with Uni and other life stuff in general, but still feel that writer’s itch and wish to write down thoughts and ideas to explore some creative avenues. Now, for that to happen, I’m more than happy to take requests, given that I’m a part of quite a few fandoms. I’ll also add the characters I’d be willing to write for, so you guys get an idea as to what to expect.
That being said, this is a blog largely dedicated to all the smutty fics I come up with, so it’ll mostly be one-shots, drabbles, headcannons, NSWF alphabets, etc. I reserve the right to not write certain stuff because, well, I might not be into it (this includes underage stuff and noncon, straight off the bat, sorry, that’s just how it is). Other than that, please feel free to send me an ask of a request. Under the cut are a list of characters I’ll happily write for since I’ve watched/binged the show and have plenty of inspo for them. [ hello i’m proposing again :) ]
[ lmao Implied Things at the very end ]
“Welcome home!” I called out from my place on the couch when I heard the front door open and close, hearing the clinking of keys as Sean set them down by the door and take his jacket off. “I would have made dinner, but I didn’t know if you’d be home in time,” I continued, looking up to catch a glance of my boyfriend when he entered the living room.
I’d only been living with Sean a few months now, but I knew that having him come home to me every day would never get old. Especially when I got to watch him relax and subsequently lose all his work clothes.
“Always the gamble, I suppose,” he replied, leaning over the back of the couch to give me a quick kiss. “Though, I would be more than happy to help out if you can pull yourself off the couch.”
I groaned at the idea, coaxing a chuckle from him. “Alright, alright, I’ll do it. Just because I love you so much.” With that confirmation, he pressed a kiss to the top of my head and headed over to the kitchen. Probably. I could only hear him now.
Quickly, before standing up, I patted down the pockets of my hoodie to ensure that the ring was still there.
Public, over the top proposals had always made me uncomfortable. I still vividly remembered one going wrong, and I didn’t want that to happen to my relationship. I told Sean that, when I moved in. Not... on purpose, and it made him suspicious, so I had to wait another month before asking.
Finally, I let out a long sigh before standing and making my way to the kitchen. “Baby, you have no idea how hard that was for me,” I whined as I entered, wrapping my arms around Sean’s torso from behind and resting my head against his back. “You’re lucky I love you.”
I felt the vibration of his chuckle with my cheek against his back, the motion bringing a smile to my face. “You’re right, I am,” he agreed, pausing from cutting whatever he was cutting to place a hand over mine. “Sometimes I forget just how much.”
“You...” I paused, thinking over my words for a moment. “You are way too sweet, Sean,” I decided, laughing before pressing a kiss to his shoulder blade. “I’ll pour us some wine.”
And that was exactly what I did, taking advantage of him being turned away to set the ring down on the counter, hidden by the wine glass.
“Come here, I want you to taste this,” I told him as I poured the wine, reaching out to grab his shirt sleeve when I was done. “It’s new, I don’t think you’ve had it before. I definitely haven’t.”
“You haven’t had most wines,” he teased, making me give a feigned gasp of offence. It just made him laugh as he grabbed his glass, kicking my plan into action before I was even ready.
Somehow I managed to keep my cool and pick up my own glass, tilting it towards him slightly. “Here’s a gay little toast for you,” he snickered, making me smile, “since you seem to like that thing.”
I cleared my throat quickly, leaning on my hip against the kitchen island. “Sean, I love you. I do. And I really don’t say that lightly, you know that. And... I’ve been thinking about this for a while now. I wasn’t sure if this was the right time, seeing as your family is on the brink of war, but then I realized that there’s no better time than this.”
I paused, taking a sip from my glass, Sean hesitating a moment before he did the same. “Anyway,” I moved my free hand to the ring, immediately catching his gaze, “I hope you think that too, because I’m not waiting any longer.” I watched as it finally clicked for him, realization dawning on his face as I picked up the ring and held it out to him. “So, Sean Renard, will you marry me?”
He just stared at me for a moment, apparently bewildered. “You want... you want to marry me? A Zauberbiest? You’re sure?” I almost laughed at how unsure he was, it was kind of adorable.
“Yes, Sean, I want to marry you. Zauberbiest and all,” I assured, right before being caught in a surprise kiss. It was a little messy, and very desperate, but I could feel how much love put into it. “I’ll take that as a yes,” I muttered against his lips, taking his glass to set them both down.
I didn’t get that verbal yes until the next morning, but he got plenty from me.

Sean Renard often regarded himself as someone higher on the evolutionary ladder, someone important. So the idea of him being set on a blind date by his fellow officers was ludicrous. However, here he was - at a nice lounge and cocktail bar in downtown, meeting up with a woman of their choice. Oh, how he dreaded the meeting. Knowing them, their preconception of his taste in women was utterly wrong.
When he walked in, his eyes immediately fell on a beautiful woman with long hair that fell past her mid-section, her legs were silky, her thighs accentuated the wholeness of her figure. Her loose black dress spoke volumes. He took courageous steps forward and stopped beside her. "Good evening." He greeted courteously, to which the woman glanced from her phone to him. Her eyes were mesmerising. "Oh, good evening to you, too." The conversation from that moment on continued languidly, both starting to enjoy the other's company.
"So what brings you here, Sean?" "Some friends decided it would be beneficial to set me up on a blind date." "Oh." You looked up at him with that enchanting smile and sent him into a stupor, "I hope your date goes well then, no one deserves to be alone." "I was sure you were my date, I'm sorry to have wasted your time." "Not at all, Sean. I had a lot of fun. Maybe if we had met in another time, another place." "Would you mind-" His sentence was interrupted by a woman calling his name.
"Hey, you're Sean Renard, right? I'm Michelle. Sorry I'm late." "That's alright." "Shall we?" Her smile was pretty, but it wasn't as brilliant as yours. Her body just didn't give off the same charming energy. Sean smiled awkwardly and was dragged away by the cheerful stranger. Your eyes connected for the last time that evening, but he couldn't stop thinking about you at all. It greatly distracted him.
The faithful police captain spent the next few days working on finding the mystery woman. He went back to the bar and was told you were a regular, but had no particular schedule. He searched for your name and address, and found it after extensive work.
Your doorbell rang just as you were getting out of the shower. At first you wanted to ignore it, but it rang two more times before you finally opened the door. Your eyes met with the grey-blue of Sean Renard's. "Oh, hello?" "Hi." His smile was awkward yet inviting. "Sorry to disturb you at such a time." "Oh, you're not disturbing. Would you like to come in or...?" "Yes, thank you."
You allowed him entrance and closed the door behind, wondering what he was doing here. Not that you didn't enjoy his company last time, but you were sure you weren't going to see him again. "Care for something to drink?" "No, thank you." "How was the date?" "Date? Oh, date... I guess it was alright. I'm still sorry our conversation was interrupted so suddenly." "It's okay, I understand. How did you find me?" "I'm a police detective. Finding people is my thing." "I see." "I figured you might want to continue our conversation by joining me for dinner. Or lunch, whichever you prefer."
You smiled widely and agreed almost immediately, watching him heave a sigh of relief.

Requested- Sean Renard x Reader.
Tumblr media
Request: Anonymous- Hey! If it's not too much trouble, could I request a jealous/protective Renard?Maybe like the reader likes Renard but thinks he likes someone else/deserves better,so they back off and eventually try to move on with someone else (despite still loving renard) and he gets really jealous?Thank you so much ? ((sorry if that's too specific))
You flick through the files on your desk with your head resting on your hand. You sigh deeply and take a huge swig of coffee. You’re drumming your fingers on the table when your colleagues, Nick and Hank saunter in, dropping more files onto their desks.
“Tell me someone’s dead.” You beg, sitting up and staring intently at them.
They shake their heads.
“Sorry, (Y/N), your just gonna have to work your own case for now.” Hank chuckles.
“But nothing’s happening!” You whine.
“Cold case?” Nick asks.
“Insufficient evidence.” You answer, shaking your head.
You rub your temples in circles and groan.
“I’m gonna go find out what I can do.” You decide, standing and heading over to the Captain’s office.
You knock the door and when he invites you in, you get butterflies in your stomach.
“Captain? It’s me.” You say tentatively.
“Come in, (Y/N), shut the door.” He insisted.
When the door is closed, he stands up and leans on his desk, staring at you with a small smile on his face.
“Captain, my case is … well, um, nothing’s happening, I was just wondering what I could do to sort of … get the ball rolling I guess?” You explain.
He smiles at you and stands up straight.
“Go over the evidence, see if you can piece bits together. Who are your suspects?” He asks.
“Well, that’s the thing … I don’t have any. Well, except her husband but there’s not enough evidence against him … well, any.” You reply.
“Hmm … well, do you have tire treads? Shoe impressions? Fingerprints? A murder weapon?” He interrogates.
“Murder weapon was never found, but it was blunt force trauma, so there has to be one.” You tell him.
“Okay, well, investigate further, go back to the crime scene and really look. See if you can find the murder weapon. Check the victim and see if you can determine what was used to kill her-“ The phone on his desk suddenly rings.
“You’ll get it, just don’t give up.” He smiles, walking around to sit in his chair.
He answers the phone and you walk out of his office. You go to Nick’s desk and sit on the corner.
“You wanna help with my case?” You ask, beaming at him.
“What are you going to do?” He replies, grabbing his jacket.
“We’re going back to the crime scene. Hank, you coming?” You answer, heading out of the station with the guys.
You walk into the house of the victim and look around. You check every heavy looking item for blood spatter, every ornament, the tools in the shed outside and every room in the house.
“I can’t see any blood.” You sigh, coming down the stairs.
Just then, something catches your eye. You hurry faster down the stairs and notice a hole in the wall. You crouch down to investigate it and then, slowly, you turn around, straighten up and stare fixedly at the banister.
“I got a murder weapon!” You exclaim.
The guys come over to you. They move their eyes to look where you’re still staring.
“The banister?” Hank asks.
You nod.
“How are we going to take this back as evidence?” Nick inquired.
You pull out your phone and snap a picture of the blood on the banister.
Back at the station, you head straight to the Captain’s office and knock on the door. When he invites you in, you can barely contain your excitement.”
“Captain! We found out what the-“ You stop mid-sentence, noticing another person in the room.
She’s a tall woman, and she’s beautiful. Her long blonde hair falls past her shoulders and her blue eyes are bright and framed with soft makeup. Her lips are plump and full, and her clothes are all designer. Suddenly your mouth goes very dry.
“What is it, (Y/N)?” Captain Renard asks.
“Oh, uh, well, we found the murder weapon. Just thought you’d like to know.” You stammer, suddenly feeling intimidated.
“Excellent, well, just keep going with it. You’ll figure it out.” He tells you, smiling.
You nod and turn to leave. You head down to the morgue and check over the body with the Coroner, looking at the wound on the back of the victim’s head. You can now see exactly where her head had hit the banister. You head back up to your desk and pull up the victim’s husband’s profile.
You bring the husband in for interrogation. He puts on a brilliant grieving act, but within an hour, you manage to convict him of the crime and make the arrest. Whilst you’re filling out the paperwork, the Captain comes over to your desk.
“Did you figure it out?” He asks.
“Yeah. I made an arrest; it was the husband. I’m just doing the paperwork now.” You answer, not looking up.
He picks up on your tone and goes back to his office. You finish the paperwork and take it to his office. Waiting at the door, you turn and see a young man with dark hair and brown eyes. He notices you and smiles. You can’t help but smile back, and he doesn’t take his eyes off you as he walks out of the precinct.
“Come in.” Renard calls from the other side of the door.
You walk in and place the paperwork on his desk in front of him, turning to leave instantly.
“(Y/N)?” He calls after you.
You stiffen and turn back to him, a soft smile creeps onto your face.
“Captain?” You address politely.
“Well done. I knew you’d figure it out.” He says, smiling appreciatively.
You smile and nod once, turning and walking out of his office. As you’re walking out of the precinct, you feel a hand on your shoulder and turn around quickly.
“Hi.” The young man from earlier says, grinning.
“Oh. Hi. Do I know you?” You ask casually.
“You smiled at me earlier, was wondering if you’d like to grab lunch with me.” He invites.
“Sure. I’m starving.” You agree, walking out with him.
You go to a small café on a street corner and have a nice lunch and coffee. The guy tells you his name is Daniel and you tell him your name. You have a long, pleasant conversation and exchange numbers.
You both say goodbye and you head back to the station.
When you get there, Renard calls you into your office.
“Who was the guy you left with?” He asks, raising his eyebrows.
“Just some guy. His name’s Daniel.” You answer stiffly.
“Did he tell you why he was in the Precinct?” He interrogates.
“Yeah, he did, actually. As I understand he was let go due to insufficient evidence … meaning no evidence.” You reply.
“He’s not-“ He starts, but you cut him off.
“Why do you care, Captain?” You ask, a little snappier than you mean to.
“Because I need you working on top form.” He snaps back.
As he says it, his eyes dart to the right and he runs his hand across the back of his neck. He’s lying.
You open the door to walk out, but he stops you.
Quietly, he says to you, “There’s nothing happening. Go home.”
You leave without a word, grab your jacket and get into your car.
When you get home, you put on your favourite song and get into a hot bath. You try to relax but your brain won’t shut off, so you get out of the bath and get dressed, drying your hair in record time and then you grab your phone. You sit for a while with his number on the screen, deciding whether or not you should call. Before you can overthink it too much, your phone rings in your hand.
“Hello?” You answer.
“(Y/N), it’s Daniel. What are you doing tonight?”
“Not a lot. Got no cases to work. Why? You feel like meeting up?”
“Well, maybe not quite so fancy, but I was wondering if you’d wanna come back to my place and order a pizza.”
You can practically hear the smile in his voice.
You think about it for a few seconds. Your mind goes to Renard and you quickly say, “Sure!”
He picks you up at seven and you head back to his place. He has a medium sized apartment and you can see that he’s made a small effort to clean up. Clothes are overflowing from the hamper and there’s still cleaning products out on the sides. You almost trip over the vacuum cord as you walk in.
“Sorry about the mess, I did try to clean the place up.” He says, smiling sheepishly.
You smile back and the two of you sit on the sofa together. A few hours pass and you eat pizza, talk, drink and talk some more. Before too long, he leans in and kisses you, and you kiss him back. When you pull away, he looks a little sad, but kind of laughs it off. You drink some more, but your mind keeps going back to Renard. Daniel sets his drink down on the table and you hold his face in your hands and kiss him forcefully, getting as close to him as possible. He takes your hand and leads you to the bedroom.
The next morning, you sneak out of Daniel’s bed and hurry out of his apartment, heading back to your place. When you walk in, you glance in the small mirror on the wall by your door. You take a closer look at yourself and you gasp. Your makeup from last night is smeared all over your face and your hair is an untameable mess. You rush to get a shower and manage to smooth your hair down, but decide to throw it into a ponytail rather than dry it. You change in to work appropriate clothes and head out, rushing to the precinct.
The entire station is chaos when you get there, and you run to find Nick and Hank to find out what’s going on.
“Double homicide and attempted suicide, let’s go.” Hank says before you even ask.
“Should be quick.” You remark.
You head out with Nick and Hank and they take you to a small cottage. Outside, on the porch steps, a man is sitting with police officers. He’s pressing a towel to his neck and there’s ambulance crew all around. You walk over to him, leaving Nick and Hank to talk to the other cops.
“So, you killed who exactly?” You ask, standing over him.
He looks up at you with tears rolling down his cheeks.
“The man. He’s my wife’s boyfriend.” He answers, sobbing.
“You caught them together, killed them both, realized what you’d done & failed to kill yourself?” You guess.
He shakes his head.
“He came here, caught me with my wife, didn’t know she was married. He killed her, tried to kill me too, but I fought him and I killed him in self-defence.”
“Bull.” You say shortly.
“Its true. Please, believe me.”
You arrest the husband for manslaughter. When you get back to the precinct, Daniel is waiting outside. You head over to him with a huge smile on your face.
“Hey, what’s going on?” You ask, leaning up to kiss him.
He pulls away from you. You’re confused, and apparently it shows on your face, because he suddenly looks very angry.
“Why didn’t you tell me you’re screwing your Captain?” He spits.
“I … uh … what?!” You ask, shocked.
“Yeah, your boyfriend threatened me. So, thanks for that. Bye, (Y/N).” He snaps, storming off.
You rush into the precinct and straight into the Captain’s office without knocking.
“(Y/N), what are you-“ He starts.
“How dare you? You threatened the guy I was seeing! What is wrong with you?” You shout.
“He was brought in for questioning in a murder case. You wonder why I was concerned?” He asks.
“What is your game, Captain? I really can’t figure out what’s going on with you.” You demand.
“I care about you, okay?” He replies, starting to get angry.
“Oh, yeah, you care about how I do my job more like. Enough for you to destroy my happiness.” You turn to leave, but he grabs your arm.
He pulls you back and you turn around. Before you realise what’s happening, he kisses you forcefully, and you melt into it, kissing him back passionately. He pulls away at stares into your eyes.
“I was hoping to be your happiness.” He says, placing a small kiss on your forehead.
