Now it's common knowledge that Jade Leech is not very easily startled.
But being ambushed by some toddler as soon as he left his room will definitely do it.
The little boy latched onto Jade's leg and started gnawing on his dress pants.
When he tried to pick the boy up, he just scurried up Jade's back, latching onto his shoulders like some kind of deranged monkey.
The boy managed to steal his hat and giggle like a maniac before you came running down the hall with two more children in tow: a little girl with her hands clasped curtly in front of her, not much older than the boy Jade has already met, and a baby that was fast asleep in your arms.
"Bruno, get off of your father."
You shot a look at the boy who was know chewing on Jade's hat.
He looked down in shame and crawled back down Jade's leg.
Through all of this, the normal-composed eel was quite confused.
It was an interesting and amusing sensation for him to be in the dark as he was usually privy to most of the happenings at Night Raven.
"His father?" Jade raised an eyebrow.
You sighed as the boy skittered over to you and wrapped his arm around your leg.
"I don't really know how to say this without sounding insane, but I guess this is nothing compared to what you're used to."
You gestured to the little girl who smiled in a sly way that reminded you of a certain eel.
"This is Veronica," you then gestured to the manic little boy who grinned and showed off his pointy teeth. "This is Bruno," then you nodded toward the baby. "And this is Damian."
"Whatever is insane about that?" Jade mused, stroking his chin as he assessed the situation.
"They're our children."
The only indication that Jade was at all surprised was the momentary widening of his eyes.
"Ah, yes. They must be from the future. Magical accidents like this happen all the time."
You felt heat rise to your face at how nonchalantly he mentioned your future children.
"But... They're our children. Is that not surprising to you? That we have children together in the future?"
Jade just smirked at you and moved forward to pat Bruno's head. The little boy chomped down on his finger but sheepishly retreated when Jade raised an eyebrow at him.
"Of course I'm not surprised. I'm aware of our mutual interest in each other and it's only a natural progression to get married and have a family."
Once the kids return to their timeline, you and Jade are apparently dating.
He never actually asked you out, but he had been observing your mannerisms and how you reacted around him, so he knew you wouldn't say no if he did.

You were sleeping in your bed at Ramshackle, peacefully dreaming of a world were Crowley payed his child support, when you were rudely awakened by a violent shaking.
You opened your eyes to see Floyd, hovering over you with a maniacal grin.
Oddly enough, you weren't even startled.
It's a common enough occurrence to wake up in the middle of the night in congruence with Floyd's whims.
"Hey."
You yawned, knowing there was no point in struggling once Floyd had you pinned down.
Your tired expression only changed to confusion once two other faces with grins matching Floyd's popped into your view.
"We have babies, shrimpy."
The two others were little girls, around 7 or 8.
They had the same sharp, toothy grin as Floyd and both sported teal hair, though one wore it in pigtails and one had it cut into a pixie.
"We have babies," you repeated, hoping Floyd would elaborate.
"In the future," he continued, radiating excited energy. It was far too early in the morning for you to be matching his manic vibes so you just nodded sleepily and smiled at the two girls.
"This is Giulia and Lilith," he pointed at the girl with pigtails then at the pixie cut girl. "They're our babies."
"We're not babies, daddy!" Lilith pouted at Floyd, making him soften just a little.
"They're our not babies," he smiled proudly at you. Both girls looked at you with the same expectant expression.
You groaned and rolled over in bed, capturing the two girls in your arms as you went.
"I'm much too tired and you're much too cute, so as confused as I am, it will have to wait until morning. Till then, we can snuggle."
"Snuggle!"
All three of them exclaimed, much too loudly for the ungodly hour.
You were simultaneously pounced on by three bodies, though Floyd did much more damage to your lungs than the lighter girls.
You snuggled into Floyd and kept an arm on each girl.
"Good night, Giulia and Lilith. I'm sure I'll meet you correctly one day."

You hadn't even noticed much had changed until you payed a visit to Savanaclaw to see your boyfriend, Ruggie.
He was carrying on with his usual duties, only there was a 7-year-old girl perched on his hip as he did laundry.
"Need any help with that?"
He turned around to face you with a clothespin stuck in his mouth.
"No fanks," he mumbled through his teeth.
"This a relative or are you just babysitting?" You gestured to the little girl who was sucking on her thumb and inspecting you carefully. She was a bit on the chubbier side and had bright, curious eyes that matched the color you saw in the mirror.
You assumed she was Ruggie's sister or cousin or niece because she shared the same splotchy ears that twitched with every subtle noise.
"She's my daughter actually."
You were physically taken aback by the confession.
Once he initial shock wore off, you laughed and brushed it off.
"Very funny. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."
Ruggie finished pinning up one of his shirts before turning to you with an expression of unexpected seriousness.
"I am being dead serious right now, Y/N. This is my daughter, Iris."
"You're only 17, Ruggie. She looks at least 6 and as far as I know, you were not a baby daddy as a pre-teen."
"She's from the future." He admitted, being genuine although a teasing smirk grew on his face.
"From the future...?" you hesitantly clarified, eying the child as she took her thumb out of her mouth to reach for you.
"Momma, can you hold me? Dadda keeps moving around," she whined, grabbing for you and nearly falling out of Ruggie's grasp.
You rushed to catch her and set her to rest on your hip, bouncing slightly.
It didn't escape you how she called you Momma and you also noticed how her skin color and hair texture were a blend of yours and Ruggie's, the course fur on her ears peeking out from under her hair.
"Is she ours?"
Ruggie didn't reply but just nodded, while he continued pinning up clothes.
"She's darling."
Ruggie hummed in agreement and satisfaction.
"Reminds me of someone else I know."
He bent backwards to face you upside down and puckered his lips dramatically.
You chuckled and leaned down to press a kiss to his lips before he resumed his chores in lieu of his previous contortions.
You smacked several kisses onto Iris's cheeks and temple, though she pouted and wiped her cheek both her sleeve.
You laughed at how cute she was and continued bouncing her as she laid her head on your shoulder and closed her eyes, tuckered out from watching Ruggie work.
"Sweet dreams, future princess."

I'm starting to think that a good chunk of the fandom does not understand Sumire as a character.
'She is a mary sue!' She is literally brainwashed into act like that. Thats literally the point. She is forced to act like the perfect dream maniac pixie girl because thats what Sumire belived her sister was.
'All her confidants are forced!' So were Akechi's in vanilla.
'She hates the Phantom Thieves!'
Again, she is saying that while brainwashed; can you see the irony?
'Cendrillon its not even a rebel!'
Yeah, she might not be the standard idea of rebel, but she did rebel to her abusive family.
'The 3rd semester would be better without her!' ...She is the focal point of it?? She is Maruki's patient 0 and the living proof on how much fucked up his powers can get even before he reach his peak.
Sumire its a beautiful flawed character who can't cope with her envy and mourning to the point to let others to play with her cognition because she is oh so afraid of suffering, but even still, she manages to stand up on her feet and be strong.
You can blame Atlus for dropping the ball on her, but please start to have some reading comprension

hi, i was stalking your blog - and i adore your aus! i like your analysis and you're really good with your words! i just wanted to know - hypothetically, do you think anastacius and diana would ever work in any au?
I'm not sure but what I'm sure of is that it would never be as intense as the love of two emotionally broken people. Claudiana's whirlwind romance sounded like severe mania to me. Falling in love with a tyrant at first sight and deciding on having a baby with him a few weeks into the relationship, even sacrificing your life for said child and having faith that said tyrant would never let any harm come onto them, all this after a few months of knowing each other is a decision no woman in their right mind would ever make. Realistically it would make sense if Diana was a person who was attracted to toxic men like the moth to a flame. A person who wanted to fix others and struggled with their own mental health in a way that was not obvious to others because she was introduced when she was in a mania episode of euphoria, delusions, and overactivity. With Claude's she was his maniac pixie dream girl and died before her problems became apparent. With Anastacius her own struggles could be explored too.
How would the palace life affect Diana in the long run? Perhaps it is her fairy imaginary that makes me view Diana as someone deeply connected to nature and ever-changing. With time she might feel stifled like a flower in a vase or a songbird in the cage. Diana would hate the restricted life in the palace and go on long trips or mingle herself on the streets with the common folk. Someone like her would miss the life of a travelling entertainer and seek to replicate such life as best as she can at court. It's entirely possible that Diana and Anastacius' relationship would be something short-lived. They would break up on good terms and remember each other fondly many years later. I can imagine Diana as someone who jumps from relationship to relationship and doesn't really differenciate between romantic and platonic love. She loves someone as a friend but said friend wants more? She doesn't mind it and would sleep with them to see if she could feel the spark.
Supposing they stayed together: Unlike Claude I don't see Anastacius' breaking traditions easily. He cannot marry Diana and make her Empress. The logical conclusion is that he would have to take a princess as his official wife while keeping Diana as his concubine. Rather than offending the other party like Claude who would behead every envoy with marriage proposal and send their heads back, the best Anastacius could do would compromise and reduce at least his number of concubines. Now I have to pose the following questions: Does Anastacius have it in himself to put his lover through the same suffering Claude's mother had to endure? Would he be willing to humiliate his wife in the same way his own mother had been humiliated? Is he able not to play favourites between the child that was born out of love and the one that was born out of duty? Anastacius seems to have a soft spot for children. He would try to love them in equal measure but I think the children would understand unconsciously that he loves one of the mothers more than the other and his legitimate child might feel insecure because of this and doubt the extend of their fathers love. It would cause Anastacius many grieviances if his children would not get along.
However I think if Anastacius' married a good woman she and Diana would grow as close as sisters and she would love her stepchild as much as her own blood. Of course this requires that Diana doesn't die in childbirth. I think the chances of Anastacius committing himself completely to dark magic are slim in an AU like that. Throughout the series people only turn to black magic if they feel betrayed or unloved by their family. If Anastacius were to have a person like Diana by his side his heart would be purefied just by the goodness and love she gives so freely away. He wouldn't be so insecure and bitter if there was someone who loved him in spite of his lack of power or his status as crown prince. Ideally he would have to meet her in disguise. Maybe he's hunting and got lost or he went out to collect magicial herbs in the woods where Diana's dancer troop pitch their camp, they meet each other, fall in love, Diana notices that he's being targeted by an evil spirit and gives him a protection charm or performs an exorcism ritual that she has learned in Siodonna. She could have her own heroine arc where the lady saves her prince with the help of the prince's brother. Anastacius' relationship with Claude would improve after a heart to heart talk and a sincere apology, but I think Claude would fall for Diana in every universe and it would end on a bittersweet note for him.
In a darker AU Anastacius would have an affair with Diana to use her to give birth to his miracle child and would only realize once its too late the kind of danger he is putting her in (and that he has hopelessly fallen in love with her). Apart from that even if he never performed any experiments on her it's possible that Diana would die in childbirth. Despite Anastacius' absurdy low amount of mana he still comes from a long line of magicians and might have passed on the gene that has skipped him onto his own child.
Aeternitas could hijack someone else. Anastacius' father for example. Or Claude who is tormented by his unrequited love towards Diana. Anastacius might die anyway because of the aftereffects of his black magic usage in his youth (remember Aeternitas targeted him since childhood). Tragically Claude would find himself in a succession crisis with the children of his brother and the woman he loved and might even be forced to kill them one day.

Some silly little au of mine, just giving my bby boy satoshi some love:
Satoshi is resurrected as a revenant by a still alive Quan Chi seeking revenge against Hanzo. After he was human again, he became emo asf, got anger issues and the damian wayne of mk.
He stopped speaking and would lash out both quietly and violently if anyone tried to get him to talk and he also goes to this secluded lake to cool down, have his own alone time yk.
Then one day he randomly meets this cute witch named Yoomi, who's chaotic asf and was the textbook definition of the maniac pixie dream girl trope, along with hints of Deadpool in her. The Sunshine to Satoshi's grumpy
She uses art magic, she has cute plushies that she can control on command but they become sentient if ever their master was in danger, they have animalistic traits that only shown when they are in battle.
Her & Satoshi didn't get along first since she finds him to be a meanie while he finds her annoying, but over time they soften up and began to learn about what they have in common (their coven/clan being massacred, being really artistic etc.)
Just some silly little sunshine Γ grumpy + slowburn rivals to friends to lovers love story about a resurrected ninja & a silly, fun yet mysterious witch :3

Manga recommendation π
Once I was watching *certain* movie who's name is not worth mentioning, there I thought that I don't ever see such cliches from the movie world in manga.
(I am probably not looking hard enough)
Till I read "Yakedo Shoujo" and was like: oh my, manga's maniac, pixie, dream girl!
This cliche is my guilty pleasure, since who wouldn't like to meet a cute girl that changes your world view, but what if that girl changes your world for the worst?
The story of "Yakedo Shoujo" is that of two classmates: Kanamae and Shiina. They seem to be from complety different words till one day when both of them bumps into each other and the boy sees Shiina's notebook full of
"I WANNA DIE I WANNA DIE I WANNA DIE"
(dear Tumblr it's just a quote pls don't ban me)
Shiina is morbidly fascinated with death, specifically in that one moment when one being dies.
The girl takes Kanamae into her twisted world of death.
Yeah, so Shiina is very much crazy in "biblical" sense. She hurts both people and animals just to fulfill her desire to see a being die. She is also very maniacal, truly crazy crazy.
However she kind of also turns the protagonist's life around. Which is so twisted because he learns to love life by taking lifes. Really interesting.
Personally I slot this manga in the titles of the shit-show since it doesn't have much substance plus it ends very abruptly. But it was interesting while it lasted, just don't put your Hopes up too much.
Oh! Also the manga is really short, quick to read, if you can stomach animals getting hurt (and people but that's beside the point) then it can be interesting shit-show.

Something I love so much about characters and narrative is the deconstruction of it.
Puella Magi being a deconstruction of the magical girl genre and about selflessness/selfishness or love vs infatuation.
Tomie being a deconstruction of the femme fatale, beautiful to look at but has absolutely no sex appeal or charisma. She is the victim turned monster and ramped to 11.
Perfect Blue being a criticism of the Idol industry but also shows the contradictions women have to live by: dirty but pure, cute but sexy, innocent but mature.
Whenever I create characters (primarily female ones) I want to show those contradictions.
Iris, and now Ophelia play into the "femme fatale role" but with different variations.
Iris isn't conventionally attractive physically (according to society) but she has enough charisma and magnetism that you WANT to get to know her better. She plays with her sensuality and revels in it. She is confident even if others look at her with shock or fear. She knows how to be sugary sweet and she knows how to manipulate people with pretty words.
Ophelia on the other hand is conventionally beautiful (and dresses elegantly, proper of a lady of high standing) but she can be crude and lack tact and class when interacting with others. She sneers and mocks and her flirting/kindness feels too forced. She has a foul aura around her that others can perceive and she lacks the confidence needed to be a true "femme fatale".

Odile dresses like a princess with her long, flowy dresses and soft voice but she plays the role of the beast.
Violent, hurt, lonely, terrified, and shunned. She is ruthless with her violence and maniac.
She is the dirt/blood under the nails of a young girl that played with mud and she can't wash it off. She is the rotten, cruel past that clings to her and tells her she won't have a future. She is the other side of childhood.
She is the beast that gets hunted by the end of the story and the people cheer because finally, she's dead! The black swan who gives one last swan song before diving to her death. The witch who loses after being thrown water at or burned at the stake or hanged at the gallows.

"Alice" is a deconstruction of the manic pixie dream girl. She acts fun and whimsical and loud and quirky. However, in comparison to Arden, her true personality is bland and boring. Arden dresses more muted, and calmer but he is by far more friendly and fun (despite saying he is stoic and cynical) than "Alice."
She is hateful, she is resentful, she is nervous.
She wants others to like her, she wants to be unique, and she wants to be liked.
Look at her even if she is a mess.

While this is actually a really cute song--heavy on the Maniac Pixie Dream Girl trope--and I have it on a couple of novel playlists, it reads a ... liiiiiiiiittle more sinister to me when I listen to it with Summer in mind.

This isn't all that far off of how Summer dealt with Kona when they first met. She listened to him mope about being lonely, tried to cheer him up and began telling him that he was obviously waiting for her to come along. Of course in that first rush of excitement in meeting someone attractive who seems to have a vested interest in him, Kona got carried away along with her.

It's this last bit that really makes me laugh because in Kona's case... it really was his last chance. Listening to Summer, being dragged along when she decided to forcibly cheer him up, letting himself get carried away with her (admittedly infectious) enthusiasm... He had one (1) chance to escape.
And notably, he did NOT take it.

Hii!! I recently left you a comment on AO3, but I figured I'd move over here to contact you again. I just wanted to tell you that I haven't stopped thinking about your Bill fic basically all day π
I've really come to appreciate it more and more as I've been mulling it over. It really feels like you had all your bases covered and everything came together in a satisfying way.
I just wanted to ask you about your process for writing it. Did you map out the plot before you started writing, or did you go chapter by chapter? Also I'm just generally interested in how you came up with some of the details if you're happy to share here or dms i dont mind? (I'm SO sorry I'm fangirling a bit here π

Okay, so I'm happy to discuss any detail so feel free to interrogate but some of them I came up on the fly and won't be able to remember why. The idea/trope was inspired by the song 18 - Anarbor. I really took these lyrics to heart lol:

At the time, I only wrote for Fred or George, but it just wouldn't make sense y'know. Bill was older, cooler, and would be so much worse (in a good way) for the plot. I'd never written a Malfoy reader before, but the Malfoys were exceptional placeholders for the snobby, uppity family. And canonically, there's bad blood between the two families, so it was perfect.
So, going in, I only anticipated this to be a 10k one shot. That's why the first two/three chapters are so short. And then the last chapter is 8k words lol. I was trying to steer away from super long and flowery paragraphs and go for sweet and succinct but it didn't work haha.
When I started, I'd only written chapter 1, 2, and tidbits of that your-room-is-flooded scene in Nice. I knew that family dynamic was always going to be a thing, so it would have to be resolved eventually. I wanted Lucius to be the hard-hitter and cause the drama, whereas Narcissa was softer, eventually accepting the situation ("BY THE WAY, ARE YOU ON BIRTH CONTROL?"). As for Draco, I know all siblings have their rough patches, so I wanted to show that he's always had a soft spot for Y/N.
I remember just writing Chapter 4 and 5 on the fly. Like, Chapter 5 (the dinner scene) was my favourite to write/re-read. I still can't believe I wrote it because I'm not great with action, dialogue, and humour. And knowing Lucius wouldn't go down without a fight, I must've... created the move-in with Fred and George, and have Bill pull away at the same time. I think this falls in love with a typical plot, like conflict #1, resolution, conflict #2, etc... (throwback to middle school English class).
The Madame Millicent book really served no purpose initially. Then, I was like, let's have Bill find it to show that Y/N can be pervy too LMAO.
Y/N's extended family was also created near the end. I think thinking of characters as caricatures really helped me. Uncle Theo was Lucius on steroids, Genevieve and Claude as Y/N and Draco on steroids, Charlotte and Clara as wispy blonde maniac pixie dream girls, etc. It also helped show that Y/N and Draco really loved and supported each other when contrasted with other family members who actually didn't care much for them.
I'm the worst with finishing a series, and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to give this a proper ending, but people leaving sweet comments, reblogging, asking to be added to the tag list really gave me that push to write a conclusion.
But yeah, if there's anything you'd like to know, please ask!! I'm so happy you enjoyed it so much and because of people like you, I end up wanting to write more hahahaha. π
