Hiii, I love your art so much and I adore the way you draw Swatch. What's your opinion on swatchton? 👀
i don't usually answer ship opinion asks unless i'm fond of it myself out of respect for the Differently Opinionated but i Realized something the other night that kinda got a ball rolling for me. that "color cafe is also a host club" headcanon was funny, and then i remembered MONTHS late the line about spamton once being a loyal customer of theirs. ...that falls into place a little too well.
i mean the concept of he and swatch being exes is good (so much divorce in this game and we can add even more) but spamton thinking he's so famous now SURELY they like him back even though it's literally their job to flirt with customers so they spend more money? unparalleled 😂 i can see them kind of being friends though, he is a Funny Little Dude, and swatch never thought anything more of his frequent visits because queen, Their Bestie, stops by all the time too and there's nothing more there either. food good, music nice, birds pretty, why Wouldn't you want to come here?
... though i don't think they'd care if they knew he was interested in them in any way. so are literally hundreds of people, get in line <3 the cafe probably has a "no trying to propose to our staff" rule. they're too dedicated to the Butler thing anyway

For today’s Tuesday, prepare to get heatstroke from the sheer hotness of Myth, the Former Ultimate Firefighter!
——————————————————
BACKSTORY AND TALENT
Due to being bedridden with scoliosis in her younger years, Myth didn’t really do much apart from reading. Until one day, a brave firefighter saved Myth’s life from a dangerous house fire that still left burns on Myth’s left eye and arm. From that day forward, after her scoliosis surgery, she has dedicated her life to training hard to become like the firefighter that saved her life that fateful day. By her teen years, she managed to rise through the rankings and become a professional firefighter for her town. Her rapid rising through the ranks despite her age, gender and height gave her a free spot to Hope’s Peak as the Ultimate Firefighter. In her adult years, she is currently chaperoning this year’s Ultimates and Jr. Ultimates on a trip to Kibo-Con Ultimate!
——————————————————
RELATIONSHIPS
Wyre Anon, Former Ultimate Film Critic
Wyre has been best friends ever since she moved in next door to Myth and entertained her with some high-ranking movies. However, due to the time-consuming training Myth went through from her time as a firefighter trainee, they’ve been seeing each other less and less. And now, Wyre can’t help but swoon over the utter hunk that her childhood friend had become now.
Anon Scar, Ultimate Sailor
Scar, or as she calls herself, ”The Spirit of the Seven Seas”, gets along surprisingly well with ”The Spirit of the Quenched Flames”, as Scar puts it. This is probably due to their shared experience with tense situations, whether surrounded with raging water or raging flames. If either of them had a nightmare about certain traumatic incidents from the past, they’ll talk about the nightmare and reassure each other.
Fusion Anon, Ultimate Fantasy Novelist
Fusion became famous for writing “The Saga of Spritefolk”, a literary series famous for its lovable menagerie of characters and extensive lore and worldbuilding. Myth happens to be a huge fan of said series, and Myth was on cloud nine when she got an autograph from the novelist. The two also bond over their shared interest in mythology.
Fusion Anon II, Ultimate Cheerleader
Fusion II is well-known for leading a 50-person oendan group, complete with taiko drums and complex acrobatics. The oendan is known for praising the hometeam, and throwing shade towards the competition. Fusion II herself is actually more laid-back then what her talent suggests, although she is just as snarky as her cheers would suggest. Fusion II would never admit this, for she has a reputation to keep up, but she thinks Myth would be a fine addition to her group.
Just Anon, Ultimate Pediatric Nurse
Janon is worshipped throughout the medical world as a prodigy in the medical field. Due to Janon’s natural intellect letting him breeze through tests without any actual effort, Janon has a terrible work ethic and a lazy and apathetic attitude. Janon also happens to be Myth’s favorite teasing target, for his not-so-secret soft spot for children, his failed attempts at being edgy despite his innocuous talent and adorable appearance, and his massive crush on a certain dense barista. This has lead Janon to utterly despise Myth.
Sparkle Anon, Former Ultimate Ballroom Dancer
Being raised in a high-class family well-known for their bombastic and over-the-top dance parties, Sparkle is known to be able to charm anyone on the dance floor, whether male or female. And yet even she can’t help but get yearn to get swept off her feet by this strong yet dorky firefighter. Sparkle is currently trying to teach the firefighter the ways of her bloodline, but The Spectacular Sparkle gets way too flustered over Myth’s strong arms, and winds up botching the dance, much to Myth‘s confusion.
Egg Anon, Former Ultimate Lucky Student and Wet Sock Anon, Former Ultimate Librarian
Very little is known about this cursed duo, for they hardly do anything apart from spouting unnerving comments and remaining evasive about their past. At least Myth kind of got along with Wet Sock, due to their shared interest in reading, but Wet Sock is even more hostile towards Myth due to their growing feelings for the firefighter, usually threatening her with knives. Egg seems to be the only Former Ultimate to not have feelings for Myth, but due to the regular cursed comments and cursed actions made by the Former Lucky Student, people are too afraid to ask.
Curious Anon, Jr. Ultimate Barista
Myth regularly visits Curious for her daily cup of joe at their cafe, “Simply Splendid”. Myth can get along easily with Curious due to their tranquil, empathetic attitude and excellent service and ambience of the coffee shop that they work at. Myth couldn’t help but poke fun at Curious for their sheer density when it comes to Janon’s feelings towards them. Talk about calling the kettle black!
Anon Nerd, Former Ultimate Matchmaker
Despite Nerd’s knowledge on romantic relationships, to the point that he made the most reliable matchmaking website in the modern world by himself, it is very clear that Nerd’s never been in a relationship himself. But even the blind and deaf can see that Nerd is crushing bad on the dense firefighter, despite Nerd’s angry protests to the contrary. Too bad Myth has a density only matched by Curious. But the other Anons are deadset on getting both the tsundere matchmaker and the oblivious firefighter to realize their feelings for each other.
Eldritch Anon, Ultimate Occultist
Because of Eldritch’s paranoid attitude and his evasiveness of the public eye, very little is known about Eldritch or how he got into the occult. Myth can’t help but find it odd that such a jittery scaredy-cat has one of the more horrific talents. Much to Myth’s confusion, Eldritch seems to be convinced that Myth is an evil spirit and regularly tries to remedy that by tossing salt at Myth.
Dream Anon, Ultimate Viral Sensation
Dream, or as her fans call her “Sunny D”, is the creator of the “Vowolleyball“ web series, which centers around the antics Dream and her volleyball team. Her hyperactive and positive attitude has earned her a special spot in the heart of her fanbase. Dream gave Myth a shout-out in one of her videos centering around her time at the Kibo-Con, which gave way to a flood of thumbs-up and fangirling comments from the firefighter’s own fanbase.
Iris Anon, Jr. Ultimate Babysitter
Iris’s optimistic, hyperactive, and childish personality has made her a big hit with the little kids of her neighborhood. Her babysitting business earned a lot of money as a result of her popularity with children.  But sometimes, even the babysitter needs a babysitter of their own. And that exactly what Myth’s relationship with Iris is like. Myth and Iris have a bit of a mother-daughter relationship and Iris regularly winds up going to Myth in case she needs advice, her boo-boos patched up, or if she just needs a hug from a pair of strong arms.
Purple Anon, Ultimate Samurai
Myth can’t help but be surprised that samurai not only still exist, but one is attending Hope’s Peak right now. Myth can’t help but want to protect the crowned heiress of the Murasaki bloodline, upon noticing how timid said heiress is when outside of a combat scenario. Purple’s elaborate and old-fashioned vocabulary as a result of her upbringing, just confuses Myth, so she often requires Fusion to translate Purple’s speech into modern slang.
So basically, this AU is a harem series about an adorable and buff, if dense firefighter, and her four/five waifus/husbandos/whatever the NB term for a waifu is.
————————————————-——
APPEARANCE
Firefighter!Myth has shoulder-length undyed hair and burn scars on her left eye and arm. She wears an orange and black firefighter’s uniform that is undone at the waist, hanging at the back of her legs. Under her uniform, she wears a black tank top and a scarf that resembles a film reel (that she got as a token of friendship from Wyre). She also wears black boots with a white stripe running though the center and white soles. The arm bands on her muscular arms match the color scheme of her uniform, being orange with black stripes.
——————————————————
PERSONALITY
Because of Firefighter!Myth’s line of work, Firefighter!Myth is courageous and bold, always jumping into danger in order to save lives. That, along with her androgynous appearance, has earned her comparisons to a dashing prince. This has given her a passionate fan base amongst her neighborhood. Despite the confident and cool-headed personality of Firefighter!Myth, she isn’t as socially-skilled as one would expect. Because of her isolated and bed-ridden background, Firefighter!Myth is more socially-awkward and naive compared to Romantic!Myth, particularly when it comes to people with romantic intentions. When it comes to dating or noticing when people are attracted to her, she is completely and utterly clueless, much to the ire of Librarian!Wet Sock and Matchmaker!Nerd. She isn’t stupid though, for she still retains a love for literature and film from her younger years. Although hopefully, her time at the Kibo-Con would help her wise up to romantic intentions, but only time will tell.
——————————————————
I’ve took some inspiration from Fusion II’s talentswap, and added some backstory to the relationships section. I’ve partially based this Myth off of a Nozoeli fanfiction called “Best Star She’d Ever Had”, link to the fic here: (https://archiveofourown.org/works/5095454)
What do you think of this buff, yet dense Myth? Let me know what you think of this Talentswap!
-Fusion Anon
I think I speak for everyone who knows me when I say buff me is inherently cursed, that said I love this

For scenarios... could I request rfa accidentally meeting MC before the party? no drama like "there's a bomb so I gotta run to your place" they just accidentally meet somewhere and MC recognises them from the pictures in the chatrooms and goes to greet them. Rika's apartment can't be far away from where the others live so it should be impossible. (if you can find a way to squeeze in V that's okay but you don't have to)
i really liked this idea! hope i executed it well ^^
YOOSUNG:
MC and he were actually studying at the same university, but different subjects!
They had a common elective course of modern history though, one that Yoosung’s friends convinced him to take with them since they could share notes, and MC simply had an interest in it, and well, needed the extra credits
Neither of them really noticed each other at first-it’s a big classroom and it’s in the afternoons, so oftentimes Yoosung just skipped lmao
Once though Yoosung’s friends couldn’t make it to the class so he offered to go and take notes for the day, and rushed into the class a little late, so he took the first seat available-right next to MC
He struggled to both write and listen to the professor at the same time, and eventually he got a little behind with his notes. MC noticed his cute frustrated face and shared their notes with him, tapping him on the shoulder as they quietly pushed their papers to him
Yoosung’s happy face was stuck in MC’s mind-he wore his feelings on his sleeve and it was so refreshing to see someone this innocent at this day and age.
They became fast friends afterwards-exchanging facebook accounts and talking via messenger often, sometimes about the class, sometimes about anything and everything else
They even had study sessions to help each other study!
Near the end of the semester, and right when this extra class ended, is when MC stumbled upon the RFA messenger-and one look at Yoosung’s name along with his shooting star emoji got them excited to realise there’s a familiar face amongst this strangeness
The rest of the members found their friendship cute, and Zen constantly tried to play match-maker for the two, telling Yoosung that ‘he should’ve told the RFA he has such a cute girlfriend’ lmao
(*cue Yoosung flushing redder than Seven’s hair*)
ZEN:
No, contrary to what you might think, MC wasn’t his fan-they did however hear about Zen through friends interested in musicals, and agreed he was handsome
No, instead, they met him whilst helping out a friend who was working backstage at one of Zen’s shows-they needed help finishing up painting of some background sets, and MC offered to help them in their free time, and as a return their friend offered MC tickets to the show
Zen met MC whilst rehearsing-he knew MC’s friend and went over to say hi, and met MC, who he of course instantly tried to flirt with, even though he was half-kidding about it
Well, flirtatious nature aside, the two really hit it off, and became good friends-not that they were super close or anything, but Zen would stop and chat with MC after rehearsals, and he invited MC out along with the rest of the crew after the first successful run of the show
He didn’t exchange any social media accounts with MC, because quite frankly, he doesn’t have any lmao, and MC’s phone was broken so they couldn’t give him their number either
Zen insisted that if they leave it up to fate, they’ll meet again, and well-he was right
Lo and behold, MC joined the RFA, and whose face is the first they see in an oh-so-modest selfie?
Yup, Zen the Knight it is
His first words when he realised who MC was were ’See? I told you fate would find a way!’
Sure Zen,,,sure lol
JUMIN:
MC actually scored an interview as Jumin’s executive secretary!
They were so thrilled about it, and did their best to calm their nerves before the interview, knowing that being jittery and anxious would lead them nowhere
Well, they were more than shocked at Jumin’s cold behaviour, but they did their best to match his pace, answering each of his questions without missing a beat, mentioning their credentials without bragging about them
Honestly, Jumin was very pleased-he saw a perfect candidate across him, albeit a little inexperienced due to age, but that didn’t really matter to him-with a little training they’d be perfect for the job
Well, eventually though a better candidate came along, so MC was left with the rejection e-mail in their inbox, disappointed but ready to move on
They had all but forgotten about Jumin Han until stumbling onto the RFA and meeting him again, confused and surprised at the difference of his character in the chatrooms
They didn’t mention the interview at all, but Jumin has the memory of an elephant-one look at MC’s name reminded him of how he met them, and he reassured them that they were incredibly good at the interview and left an impression on him
It takes some getting used to his different attitude, but it’s refreshing to see a man they thought of as cold and calculated be a complete cat-loving goof-and it’s honestly one of the things that makes MC fall for Jumin
And vice-versa, Jumin remembers MC’s serious confident attitude at the interview, and is pleasantly surprised to learn what a gentle, kind person they are in the messenger
When they meet Jaehee though….boy are they glad they didn’t get the job lmao
*pat pat* it’s okay Jaehee…hang in there baby
JAEHEE:
MC was working part-time as a barista at a coffee shop near C&R!
It was a small independent shop, hidden in-between bigger franchises, but their coffee was great, and if there’s one person that loves good coffee, well, it’s Jaehee
The first time she visited the shop she was at a loss of what to order, the possibilities endless with all these brews of coffee they offered, and MC found Jahee’s flustered face adorable
They chatted her up to see what kind of flavours she likes and dislikes, and ended up making her a delicious cold brew with vanilla cream-just sweet enough to give her that sugar rush she needed, but not enough to hide the flavour of the coffee itself
Well, Jaehee was more than thrilled both at the taste, and at the cute cashier *wink wonk*, so she quickly became a regular at the shop
Yes this is your good ol’ cliche coffee AU DON’T JUDGE ME
She’d always stop for a cup of coffee before work, and would secretly be happy on the days she ended up meeting MC during their shift-she’d try and visit during her breaks too, when time would allow it, and would sit and sometimes chat with MC when the cafe wasn’t too busy
MC eventually learnt some stuff about Jaehee, that she works as a secretary to some annoying cat-loving rich dude (lmao sorry Jumin), that she loves coffee, and that her dream is to eventually open her own cafe, if circumstances allow it
One day, Jaehee went to the shop, knowing that MC had a shift at that time, but they were nowhere to be found-their co-workers said MC called in that they can’t make it today because something urgent came up, so Jahee nodded along, wondering if MC was okay
….well, she didn’t have to worry for too long, as not soon after she got her coffee and headed back to the office, a familiar name popped up on the RFA chatroom
Yup, this is a coffee shop au alright-just with some hacker and cat-loving twists lol
SEVEN:
You can never convince me that this boy is not an active reddit user, and you most definitely can Not convince me he isn’t in any and all paranormal and horror forums either
So he’s scrolling around on reddit one day, posting memes and trolling people, when he stumbles upon a really interesting thread someone made about the origins of mothman and possible sightings outside the USA
He’s hooked and spends a lot of time reading through the thread, intrigued by the sophisticated way the OP wrote their points and how well-thought of their evidences were
He started commenting on the thread and talking with the OP, who he soon became online friends with-he loved to chat with them about spooky stuff, cryptids, conspiracy theories and so forth
He didn’t talk much about himself, and would sometimes even make up some lies because he didn’t want to seem like a creep that won’t even share his name, but he couldn’t give out his info that easily; he did however tell them his code name, 707
Eventually they started talking outside of reddit too, through facebook messenger (i mean…we already know this dude has a facebook account and posts his cars there lmao), and is thrilled to find out more about his new online friend, MC, and to even find out they live far closer than he thought!
Well, he gets used to talking with MC almost everyday, and it’s actually one of the few highlights of his day-he’s never really had someone care for him the way this person, someone he hasn’t actually ever met in real life does. He wonders if they’d change their mind about him if they ever met him in real life, but shakes the thoughts away-it’s not as if this could ever develop into something more than an online friendship anyway
Well…or so you thought, Seven lol
When a stranger comes barging into the RFA messenger, he’s instantly tracing their steps and finding out all their internet activities, and lo and behold-whose facebook account is this that he ended up finding? Why, it’s none other than MC!
The moment Seven found out, he got suspicious; was MC just pretending to be online friends with him to hack into the RFA? Were they stealing information without him knowing?
It hurt to have to think this way, but how else could they be linked?
When he slowly found out MC was actually innocent, he was more than relieved-he secretly happy that he could now chat with them both online and on the RFA app, that he could share parts of himself with MC that he couldn’t before
to say he fell for them is the understatement of the century lmao
V/JIHYUN:
When he first started with photography, he took some classes at a local university to learn more about professional photography, photoshop e.t.c
And MC happened to be taking the same classes as him!
They often sat next to each other, not talking at first, but then their professors would sometimes ask them to pair up to work on assignments, and MC ended up paring up with Jihyun more than once
They became fast friends-Jihyun was a little distant, but always friendly in a cold, aloof way, and always polite, and he found MC to be so warm and gentle, he was naturally drawn to them
He did feel attracted to them, but never made a move-he was still struggling with so many things himself, he didn’t want to drag anyone else into his mess. He just wanted to focus on photography and that’s that
So whilst they talked a lot during university, as soon as they graduated, V drifted away, and when he even changed his phone number all communication was lost between the two
Well, time went on, and MC slowly began to forgot about the mint-coloured man they met, until they stumbled into the RFA chatroom
They didn’t realise it was Jihyun at first-he did change his name after all, and everyone in the char referred to him as V, but the way he texted was very familiar, even though MC couldn’t quite understand why
When he finally introduced himself, they were stunned. They didn’t want to ask him if he remembers them though-it’d be too embarrassing if he said he didn’t
But of course V did remember them-the moment Seven told him their name after his background check, all the memories came flooding back, opening up a Pandora’s box in his chest where he locked all those feelings away
Even if they’re back within arms’ reach, and even if they seem interested in him though…it’s useless. He’s far beyond repair, and if he didn’t want to drag MC into his mess then, he most certainly doesn’t want to drag them into it now
So he becomes distant again, more so than ever before but MC isn’t having it-they call him out on his bullshit, and tell him to square up and be honest otherwise they’re leaving
So V reluctantly admits to it all-to remembering MC, to his feelings towards them, and to his own cowardliness back then, and how it’s now too late to change anything; even if he wants to. God, he wants to.
hi I’m soph and i love to torture my favs lol

Dwalin's life in the modern world.
Chapter 1
The streets of Dale were bustling with people, an autumn breeze blew, just as Dwalin stepped out from his small house straight onto the street.
‘Even at this ungodly hour, people are everywhere’ Dwalin looked around, walking across the road to a small, glass fronted building.
Sticking a hand into the front pocket of his hoodie, he fumbled around, grabbing hold of a set of keys. Unlocking the door, he quickly walked over the alarm system.
“Yeah, yea I hear ya” He quickly punched in the code, all the while angrily whispering to the inanimate object.
He flicked on a set of switches, conveniently placed next to the alarm system, light flooded the room and an annoying up-beat, high tempo song began playing.
Dwalin looked around, taking in the room. ‘My gym, Sons of Fundin.’
Spotlights shone on treadmills, rowing machines, stacks of weights. Everything you could think of was in this room. It was bigger than one would expect from looking at the outside.
Walking further into the room, the stale smell of sweat hit him.
‘I need to clean this, maybe the air-con needs looking at’
Dwalin continued thinking endless thoughts of how to improve his beloved gym, as he made his way to the kitchen.
Walking into the tiny kitchen area, if you could even call it that. He made a beeline for the cupboard. Grabbing his protein shaker and the large tub of protein powder, he began to make his first of three protein shakes.
Looking down at the fitbit on his wrist. ‘Half 6, they open at 7. Plenty of time to clean up before I go’ taking a big chug of his shake, he grabbed a box with 'cleaning' scrawled on the side in red sharpie.
Cracking his neck either side and stretching his arms above his head, he began cleaning the gym.
“Damn, that took too long” Dwalin finally finished. Placing the last spray bottle into the box, he stood back, admiring his work.
“Shit what time is it?” glancing at the time, he grabbed his hoodie he had taken off at some point during his cleaning montage.
“Half 7, it won't be too busy.” Dwalin tried to reassure himself. Running out of the door and down the street.
Dwalin ran the whole length of the street before coming to a dead stop outside a pale pumpkin coloured building with a dark green door. The sign above the door, in elegant writing, said The Shire.
Slowly pushing open the door, Dwalin walked in.
“Hey Mister Dwalin” A cheerful voice called out. Turing, Dwalin saw the familiar long, black haired, young man sitting at one of the tables, next to him, a slightly older man, with blond hair a similar length to the other, waved.
“Kili, Fili, how ya’ doin” Dwalin smiled walking over to them. “How's Thorin been lately?”
“We’ve both been good, uncles been getting on fine as well, how's business at your gym been ?” Fili asked “I see you’ve got some clothing with your logo on. Dori’s was it ?”
“Business has been good, yeah” Dwalin nodded his head as he spoke. “ The clothes are just hoodies at the minute, great logo though isn't it.” Dwalin laughed, pulling his hoodie straight so he could better see the logo of two axes. “And of course ya’ can't, not go to Dori, he’s great with that printer thing.”
Fili nodded his head in agreement. “Ki here just got some new stuff printed himself, show him Kili” Fili elbowed Kili in his side to get his attention.
“Huh… oh yeah look, I love them aren’t the cool Mister Dwalin.” Kili jumped up, flicking his black hair over his shoulder he showed of the sweater.
“Kili’s archery and gun range” Dwalin read out. “I like it, looks very professional now”
“Me and Tauriel have already sold a few” Kili beamed in excitement. “Oh Mister Dwalin, no line at the till, better go quick before it gets busy”
“I will. Fili, tell Thorin I said Hi” Dwalin walked to the till, waving goodbye to the two young men.
Dwalin stopped at the till and browsed through the bars on the counter top.
‘There is alway a nice selection of protein bars here’ Dwalin picked one at random ‘it doesn't really matter which i get, i've had them all’
“Ah Dwalin, good morning, you're a little later today then normal.” Dwalin looked up, a man walked up to the counter from the kitchen. He had golden brown, curly hair. He was wearing green pants, a cream top and a burgundy apron but it somehow all looked right on him.
“Yea sorry Bilbo, I got caught up with some work”
“It’s ok” Bilbo waved him off with a smile. “ I have the couple boxes of bars you asked for, just came this morning”
“That's great, I’ll pay for them along with this, and can I order my usual for lunch”
“Certainly, I already have you down for the food Dwalin. You get the same thing every day, would you not change it up a bit.”
“Muscles, Bilbo, Muscles”
“Alright, staying with the usual salmon, rice, avocado with an egg on the side.”
“Let me go grab the boxes and the receipt, I put it in with my regular food order so don't worry about any extra cost” Bilbo turned and walked back to the kitchen. Stopping before he got to the door he turned back around.
“Oh did you hear”
Dwalin looked at him slightly confused.
“Hear what”
“Dori and Ori have a brother and he’s in town. I would say they will bring him by when they come grab their morning drinks” Bilbo spun back around and carried on into the kitchen.
“A brother?” Dwalin whispered to himself, still confused.
Plonking the boxes on the counter top, Bilbo grinned.
“Interesting, isn’t it. I never knew there was another brother. I’ve known those two for, gosh about 7 years now and not one word about him did they mention.” Shaking his head, Bilbo handed Dwalin the receipt. “I wonder if there was a reason he has never been mentioned. I know I have a few relations I don’t like to talk about.” Bilbo continued “Lobelia Sackville-Baggins” he trailed off in an angry whisper. Glancing over at the cutlery tray.
Dwalin passed over the money ‘ I wonder if there is a reason he hasn’t been mentioned’ he thought, a feeling of suspicion beginning to grow in his mind.
The door to the cafe opened, Dwalin not paying much attention until the people who entered were standing directly behind him.
“ Ahem, Mister Dwalin, Bilbo, I would like to introduce you to my brother, Nori”
‘Speak of the devil, so they say’ Dwalin turned around
“Hello Dori, Ori” Dwalin nodded at them both before turning his head to properly see this mysterious brother. ‘He is closer to Ori in his looks, they have the same reddish brown hair and willowy bodies’.He looked him over, then held out his hand. “ It's nice to meet you Nori, as your brother said, I am Dwalin, I own the gym down the street, two doors down from your brother's shop.”
Nori shook Dwalin's hand, an almost impish grin sliding onto his face.
“Well, Mister Dwalin, a pleasure to meet you. I don’t suppose you would like to let me rent your apartment that Dori told me about would you?” Finally letting go of Dwalin's hand.
Dwalin turned to Dori, eyes narrowed. ‘The fucker, he has two spare rooms himself’
“Mister Dwalin, you see, Nori prefers his own space and so I informed him of a friend who was trying to rent out a one bed apartment above his gym.”
“Did ya now, no other places ya thought of looking at before mine, ya know my apartment is tiny.” Dwalin was still annoyed at the situation, having something like this dumped on him, he just wanted to collect his protein bars in peace.
“ Well you see, that's where we have a slight issue”
Nori decided now was the time to step in and save his brother from Dwalins Glare.
“Mister Dwalin, the slight issue as Dori put it, is that I used all my money from my last job moving from one side of the country to the next. That means for the next few months, while i get my accounts sorted, I shall be working from paycheck to paycheck. Most places won't agree to that. They need three months rent up front, which I cannot do. Do you understand my problem?”
Nori looked at Dwalin expectantly.
Dwalin glanced back at Nori’s brothers, they were both staring at him hopefully. Breathing out a puff of air, Dwalin nodded.
“Thank you Mister Dwalin, I’ll make sure to tell Balin how helpful you have been.”Ori quietly piped up from the back.
“Well come on, get ya drink and i’ll show ya the place.” Dwalin grumbled still entirely happy and feeling he might come to regret his decision.
Standing there munching on a protein bar while Dori ordered a drink, Bilbo caught his eye from behind the counter. Dwalin could see Bilbo the whole situation hilarious, sticking his middle finger up he turned away and walked to the door.
A few minutes later Nori walked up to him.
“I’m ready to go” He grinned
‘Does he ever stop grinning? It’s like he knows something I don’t.’ Dwalin and Nori began walking to Dwalin’s gym. ‘I’m so going to regret this.'

Part 12 of the Mostly Human AU
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7 | Part 8 | Part 9 | Part 10 | Part 11
Suggested by @manadrite —This definitely isn’t a feel good chapter, but I enjoyed writing it anyway. Actually, that makes me sound sadistic.
Oh well.
>[X]<
Connor didn’t expect to see someone different behind the counter when he went into the pet shelter at his usual time, that day.
He always comes in at the same time every week; 3:30 PM every Sunday, on the dot.
The employee usually behind the counter, named Jesse, was teasing, but kind, always making sure the animals were on their best behavior when he let them show Connor their affection.
Of course, they would be on their best behavior, anyway, so it is redundant, but Connor appreciates the sentiment.
In place of Jesse sat a young adult, approximately 23 years of age. His name tag reads, “Thomas”; he vaguely remindes him of Luther’s relative, Adam. He had about two inches on Connor, though he was leaning against the counter, making his height seem less daunting.
“Welcome,” he said, the corner of his lips quirking slightly. Connor found himself a little winded, system fan hitching.
Thomas’ voice is smooth, rich—similar to Markus’ but somehow different.
Connor explained that he usually comes in to hang out with the animals, moving his hands around this way and that before wringing them together as he fleetingly wondered about a tiny inkling of nervousness he felt when he looked at him.
The man’s eyes crinkled as he smiled at Connor, a small breath of a chuckle escaping his mouth as he led Connor to the animals.
Connor realized that he was staring at Thomas’ mouth a lot. And maybe his warm hazel eyes, too.
Connor slowly relaxes during the time he spends with the animals, almost forgetting that Thomas is in the room.
Thomas laughs lightly at Connor being tackled by one of the pups who felt like he wasn’t getting enough attention.
“So cute.” He hears Thomas say. He wonders why he fleetingly hopes that the dark-skinned man is talking about him.
He motions for the man to join him as a few more pups follow the lead of the first, stepping their way on top of him and smothering him in licks.
Connor remembers Hank telling him that it’s weird to lick a dog back, despite it being a sign of affection. He doesn’t want to look weird in front of Thomas; the thought of the other looking at him in disgust is oddly concerning.
Connor also found the male extremely attractive.
Perhaps it was the shelter uniform being well-fitting, or maybe the friendly smile and easygoing yet professional air the other had to him.
After he made a few searches online, he discovered that his antsiness and sudden fascination is a crush.
So, the next week, he’s still searching for information.
The look on his face as he reads another article explaining it must be surprised enough to warrant curiosity on Thomas’ party
Thomas pokes Connor’s forehead, causing Connor to blink out of his stupor, tilting his head in confusion and causing the curls hanging down to bounce with the motion.
Connor then notices a faint, warm buzzing in his synthetic skin where the other pressed his finger.
“You okay? You were spacing out.” Connor smiles and nods to confirm that he’s alright. “By the way, I think one of the lizards has decided that your hair is his new home.” Thomas jokes, pointing to a lizard sitting amidst Connor’s curls.
Connor lets out a meek squeak when the lizard flicks his tongue out at Connor’s ear. He pulls the lizard off and wags his finger at him mock-scoldingly.
“I’d prefer if you take me out on a date, first, Mr. Lizard!” Connor jokes. Thomas’ eyebrow raises along with a corner of his lips in Connor’s peripherals.
“Is that so? Does that offer only extend to reptiles or are mammals included, too?” Thomas asks with a bit of humor in his tone.
Connor considers for a second. “Well, I certainly wouldn’t mind a play date with a puppy or a kitty, that’d certainly be more than enjoyable. Yes, I’d say mammals could be included.”
“Even humans?”
Connor tilts his head. “While I wouldn’t expect one to want to go out with me, I’d still be very likely to say yes.”
“Would you say yes to grabbing a coffee with me on Wednesday, then?”
Connor smiles; his crush wants to spend time with him? Even if it’s just friendly, he’s sure an outing would make his Thirium pump beat out of his chest.
“I would.”
Thomas’ shift was at its end when Connor stands up, making sure all of the animals are in their proper places.
He walks to the counter, smiling with a small skip in his step. Excitement for Wednesday bubbles in his chest, an odd sensation that makes him run a quick check of his biocomponents.
“Does 9 am sound good? Uh, f-for Wednesday, I mean.” Thomas’ cheeks have the slightest bit of blush as he verbally stumbles the moment Connor’s eyes meet his, sparkling.
“Yes, that sounds perfect.” Connor spots a notification in his peripherals and looks down to his phone to check a text from Hank. “Ah, I’ll have to take my leave, now. I’ll see you, then!”
As soon as Connor gets home, he lifts Sumo from the floor into a bear hug and twirls a bit. Remembering that he has to cook, he quickly places the dog down after planting a kiss near his ear.
When Wednesday comes about, Connor makes sure that he follows the comfort-casual-but-appealing outfit guide from a website online that explains to him how to escape “the friend zone”.
He heads over to where he’s meeting Thomas, wearing a nice, albeit dorky, t-shirt and jeans, along with black tennis shoes. His hair is left curly, and mostly untouched, though he wears his usual beanie for when he goes out.
Thomas looks good, but Connor hasn’t seen him look bad, though he feels like it’d be impossible for him to actually look bad, in Connor’s eyes.
Thomas’ eyes widen when he sees Connor, blush creeping up his cheeks, before he turns his head and coughs, looking back and seeming composed when he smiles.
They head inside and the two of them get coffee and sweets, and by the time they leave, Thomas’ carefully crafted composure had crumbled in the slightest.
Their outing becomes a regular event each Wednesday, and Connor now has two things to look forward to every week.
Hank asks him about where he goes, but Connor just tells him he’s out with a friend.
Gosh, Connor keeps liking Thomas more and more every moment they spend together.
The other can make him laugh and smile so easily, and he is so courteous and kind.
His love of animals shows such compassion and understanding and Connor feels himself hoping that the other may like him, too.
One Wednesday, it is unexpectedly hot. Connor wears a well-fitting but informal button-up with jeans, still wearing his beanie. His systems are lagging from the heat, and he has to pant discreetly to supply his fan with enough air to cool him down.
“Man, you look like you’re burning up! Here, let’s take this off.”
Thomas reaches over the table, pushing his fingers through Connor’s hair as he gently pushes the beanie off. Connor’s eyelashes flutter and he almost purrs as he leans into the touch. Any contact with Thomas feels nice.
Thomas teases that he’s almost like one of the cats, though his voice is slightly lower than before, and his volume makes it seem more like a murmur.
He ruffles Connor’s hair, sits back down, and places the beanie on the table, asking a nearby waitress if he could order a milkshake. Connor orders an ice cream, and they’re sure to share with each other.
Though, they only have one straw, so Connor and Thomas are taking turns with the shake.
Connor takes it upon himself to feed Thomas the ice cream when the other wants some, to the darker man’s embarrassment.
When Connor tilts his head to look outside, Thomas freezes.
Connor wonders what’s wrong. Thomas doesn’t move, doesn’t speak, doesn’t emote for a moment.
And then anger swirls into his expression.
“You’re an android, huh?” Thomas mutters, voice dark. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, before glaring coldly at Connor, whose voice feels lodged in the synthesizer.
His LED, now visible, turns to yellow, flashing. Red is slowly trying to make its way in.
“I can’t believe I’ve been spending my time feeling attracted to a piece of plastic. You from the Eden Club? Is this a fucked up way for you to attract new customers? Were you planning to lead me to a room and then have me give you my life savings for renting your time all these weeks?”
Connor can barely manage to whisper weakly, “N-No, th-that’s—“
Connor feels the shake being spilled over his head. He can see red light shining against the liquid as it rolls down, cold seeping into his body. Something within himself drops, but he’s too stricken to do an internal check.
“I can’t believe I fell for it. Man, this hurts. I thought I finally found someone cool, but you were really just a scam. An advertisement. You’d never understand how disappointed I feel.” Thomas laughs in an unpleasant way.
“You’d never understand feelings. Go play pretend back in the red light district where you belong, Pinocchio.” And with that, Thomas leaves.
Connor’s eyes fill up with tears and he makes a run for it, storming out of the cafe all the way home.
He’s gone into his hiding space. Hank is calling out to him.
“Connor, I heard you come home, where are you?” Hank pauses beside the door. He can hear every whine, sniffle, and sob that escapes Connor’s mouth as the tears pour. “Oh, Connor, what’s wrong? Hey, buddy, c’mon, you can talk to me. It’ll be okay, just talk to me.”
“It hurts, Hank.” Connor’s voice is soft, but Hank can hear it loud and clear.
“What hurts, kid? Did someone attack you? Are you okay?”
“I w-wasn’t attacked, but. My chest, my thirium pump, my-my heart hurts.”
“Does this have to do with the ‘friend’ you’ve been seeing every week?” Hank’s voice grows gruffer.
Connor made a small noise of confirmation, shoulders shaking and LED flashing red.
Hank sighs. Connor’s hands are around his knees, and Hank tries to open the door. Connor lets him. Hank wraps Connor in a hug.
“It’ll be okay, son.”
Connor sniffles into his shoulder, burrowing into Hank’s embrace for comfort.
“It’ll be okay.” Hank repeats, more to himself this time.
When Connor enters sleep mode in his arms, Hank cleans his boy up, then places him in his bed, cocooned in blankets. He calls up Kara, Markus, Kamski, and the Twins.
The person who hurt his boy is going to face the consequences.

A Coffee Drinkers Guide To Bali
I suppose Aussies are partly to thank/blame for opening the gates of hell of tourism here in Bali. Surfers have been coming here and enjoying the killer waves and friendly animist/Hindu smiles since the 1970s, and lately, you can’t throw a coconut without hitting an Australian surf shop or fashion startup. It’s a different world today from the horse-drawn carts and rice-field-serenity that those early surfers would have discovered—now it’s frenetic, jammed with scooter traffic, and development is rapid-fire. The island is a good spot for those seeking tasty food and drinks, and depending on your preference, you can pull up to a warung and eat street food and drink $2 beers, or you can eat at world-class restaurants followed by cocktails made by some of the best bartenders around. And whilst the kopi has been flowing since 1711 when the Dutch introduced Arabica plants—finding a delicious, sweet brew with any form of acidity has been hard here, where the humidity is always 90 plus, but the coffee not so much, until recently.
So let’s get into it. Next time you’re on the island of the gods, you’re getting out of the infinity pool in your villa, you’ve had your papaya, your hair is looking good in those braids you got down at Kuta beach—wack on your Bintang singlet, hop in a Bluebird taxi and go drink coffee here!
  Seniman Coffee
Owned by the Australian sculptor Rodney Glick and Englishman David Sullivan, Seinman Coffee is the spot to drink coffee in the hills in Ubud, which has become a vegan/raw food/yoga mecca of late. Seniman has fast expanded from one shop on Jalan Sriwedari into a training and education studio downstairs and a roasting headquarters across the road. Seniman means “artist” in Bahasa, and the name isn’t just an ego stroke from the owner—they do artfully prepare their drinks amongst the colorful vibe and hubbub of the place. They are brewing espresso on a La Marzocco Linea PB and they offer a choice of mostly (though they do have one or two imports) Indonesian hand-brewed filter coffee—you can choose or defer to them on what gadget you want your coffee brewed; I had a Hario V60. Cafes in Bali have lots of staff (wages are affordable, let’s put it that way) so places like this have a hive of buzzing young workers all super keen. This is helping to foster and develop a new coffee culture very quickly and it also means that hand-brewed coffee is the norm which was a nice change—there is a romance to watching your coffee being prepared by a focused barista as opposed to being squeezed out of an airpot.
Seniman Coffee is located at Jalan Sriwedari 5, Banjar Taman Kelod, Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar. Visit their official website and follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
 Hungry Bird Coffee Roaster
The area of Canggu on the west coast of the island is currently the hip spot. You’ve got nice little bars and great restaurants nestled in between rice fields, the waves are less crowded and less polluted—there are, however, a lot of cranes looming and developments are going up fast—so don’t sleep on visiting if you’re in Bali. Hungry Bird Coffee Roaster was once the sole purview of owner Prawira “Edo” Adhiguna pulling shots on a single-group machine, but it’s now expanded into a light-filled new shop and roastery with full kitchen and a 15-kilogram Probat that just arrived a week before I visited. The barista manning the Synesso Hydra was intent and extremely focused and was busting out good-looking tulips. Yes, one of the signs of a developing coffee culture is the fact that they are still super psyched on latte art—but it is a gateway drug. The food is tasty and affordable and the coffee was excellent, I had a great filter prepared with a coffee from Toraja in Sulawesi, and a leathery but sweet espresso made with coffee from Kintamani in Bali. They were kind enough to bag a few things for retail for me that were just roasted and gave me some tips on other spots to hit as well, so definitely have a chat.
Hungry Bird Coffee Roaster is located at Jalan Raya Semat 86, Tibubeneng, Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung. Visit their official website and follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
 Expat Roasters
Expat Roasters is so new you can smell it. The tiny espresso bar is all concrete and glass, and you could be in a downtown cafe in San Francisco or Potts Point if it weren’t for the plethora of motorbikes outside and the nice Balinese staff. Expat is next door to Sisterfields and Bo$$man—all three places are owned by Aussie Adam McAsey. McCasey set up Expat with Sydney barista Shae Macnamara, who won the Australian Coffee in Good Spirits contest in 2016 and works for Grinders Coffee. It’s not exactly vibe central here—it kind of feels like a holding bay for their two eateries—but they are making top notch coffees on a pimped out La Marzocco Linea PB (which has individual boilers and scales in the drip tray) and the location works well for a quick coffee before lunch or shopping for wooden penis bottle openers.
Expat Roasters is located at Jalan Kayu Cendana, Kerobokan Kelod, Kuta Utara, Seminyak. Visit their official website and follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
L/S Coffee Studio (Buro Concept Store)
OK, I was a little confused as to what this joint is called. It’s officially L/S Coffee Studio, it is a part of the Buro Concept Store and it’s above Livingstone Bakery… still with me? I think they may have taken the concept store idea a little far, but the Wi-Fi and air conditioning are good and they are smashing out tasty espresso. L/S was one of the only multi-roaster setups I found, running coffees from some of the best Indo roasters such as Common Grounds and Curious People as well as internationals like Melbourne’s Sensory Lab and Sydney roasters Artificer Coffee and Sample Coffee Roasters on occasion. The concept store extends nicely into hosting regular public cuppings and coffee classes (including regular workshops with St Ali’s Ben Morrow). L/S has a short menu of your usual cafe fare and a tight menu of “other coffee drinks” akin to the G&B Coffee stable—I had a cashew milk and espresso shake which was equal parts punchy and provided me much needed refreshment.
L/S Coffee Studio is located at Jalan Petitenget 88X, Kerobokan Kelod, Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung. Follow them on Instagram.
 Sensa Koffie
Sensa Koffie’s full name is Sensa Kueh Pia & Koffie Bali and it’s split into two shops. Downstairs it sells traditional Javanese snacks like kripuk—crispy fried things (delicious, get some), and kueh, which are sweets. The coffee zone upstairs is really lovely: it’s an open and airy space with a big balcony, a perfect spot to ruminate over a hand-brewed V60 or an espresso. Vito Adi is the owner and head roaster, he has a pretty serious coffee pedigree and is very involved in the competition and training scene in Indonesia—he is a certified competition judge and was the 2014 Cup Tasters champion in Indonesia. They serve a bunch of single origins from all over the archipelago amongst a menu of other drinks and traditional Indo food.
As were all of the staff at the cafes I visited, the barista at Sensa was friendly as hell and asked for feedback on the pour-over he made me as well as chatting about all the places I’d drunk coffee at. It’s easy to see why the coffee scene is growing so fast as the baristas are all really engaged, humble, and thirsty for information, they were all happy to discuss the other cafes they like to visit and it seems there’s a nice little community establishing itself. I’m looking forward to the brews on my next visit. Enjoy your coffees, selamat jalan.
Sense Koffie is located at Jalan Dewi Sri, Kompleks Ruko Parwata Blok 3-4, Kuta, Kabupaten Badung. Visit their official website and follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
