What if each of the Main Characters had killed one of the 6 humans (except for Papyrus; and in Toriel’s case, it was an accident) … What if even when the Souls are harvested, and in jars… Their Spirits can still haunt their Killers… What if the Spirits haunt their Killers, by sitting on their shoulders and quietly death glaring them (their sins; literally on their shoulders) … And only the Killers can truly see the Spirits… Killers: Toriel + Asgore + Undyne + Alphys + Mettaton + Sans! 👻
what if the ghosts join Frisk after they make friends/peace with the killers... or by having their power absorbed. And each monster loses their trait after killing them.
Toriel - Patience
Tumblr media
They were such a sweet child but were very ill. They'd been sick for as long as they could remember (part of the reason they ran away). Toriel completely broke down while caring for them, unable to take the memories of Chara and her past failures. Panic and intolerance overtook her. In the end, her neglect caused her to fail. Again. Toriel gave the soul to Sans in misery.
The child was grateful and un-vengeful. They were, after all, a patient and tolerant thing. That's not to say they were happy with her. Their hauntings consist of a wordless presence. It's chilling, instilling in her a deep irritation and panic. Enough to make her fight instead of losing another child. Total kills: 0
Sans - Bravery
Tumblr media
They were scared, but they went on anyway. Sans could see it, and he could respect it. They were tough. They reminded him of Papyrus in a way. ...Or, that's what I'd say if he had taken the time to get to know them. He caught them on the outskirts of Snowden and they were dead where they stood. It was a lazy, cowardly kill.
The kid faced death head-on with an ire. They knew from the moment they fell that it was likely, maybe even inevitable, and they went on anyway. That's what made them brave. Their hauntings are wordless, blunt-force trauma that pierce Sans's numbness with flat and gripping terror. They LOVE to taunt him. Especially by hanging around Papyrus. Sans is too busy being protective to think about what good friends they would have made. Or maybe it's just easier to pretend he doesn't notice.
Total kills: 4 (defending themself)
Undyne - Integrity
Tumblr media
They were a good kid. They'd been doing well in the underground, being upfront and sincere about what they wanted: to go home. Their plan was to meet with the king and plead their case, believing that integrity was their best weapon.
Undyne, at first, did not realize they were a human. They were the first one she encountered. Their mistake was telling her the truth. If they'd just been a little less moral, a little more dishonest, Undyne may have been a very good friend of theirs. But between Asgore and this new human, Undyne knew where her loyalties had to lie.
Their hauntings are loud, mournful, and direct. They knew what was happening was wrong. Everything about it was wrong, the other children, them, and they fought back. Undyne's honor was stolen from her the second she landed her first blow.
Total kills: 0, but they took Undyne's eye.
Alphys - Perseverance
Tumblr media
Alphys didn't mean to kill them. She watched them march onward, curiosity and resolve equipped like tool and weapon. They journeyed forward with a persistence Alphys envied. She didn't mean to kill them, but it was her traps that did them in.
They were the first soul she experimented on. It was mostly their extract that fed the amalgamates. When they haunt her, it's in the shadow of her own failures. Her eagerness worn away, her willingness to give up and hide rather than press onward and face her consequences.
Total kills: 2 (accidents)
Mettaton - Kindness
Tumblr media
They tried their best to be a friendly face. A select few monsters took pity on them and helped hide/disguise them on their journey to Asgore so they didn’t run into many people.
Mettaton’s original body was designed to find and kill humans, however. He discovered them sneaking their way through the core. Their death was messy and slow. Bombs will do that to humans. Even as they died, they tried to talk to him. Their hauntings are cold and quiet. Trying to cope Mettaton threw himself harder than ever into being LOUD—visually, audibly, metaphorically, every way possible—and in the process became unkind to his friends, especially Napstablook and Alphys.
Total kills: 0
Asgore - Justice
Tumblr media
The only child to make it all the way to him. They knew what had happened to the monsters was wrong. They also knew the kings decision was a cruel, repressive, immoral, cowardly, and intolerable one.
Asgore is burdened by every soul he holds, but they haunt him directly. They talk to him. They ask him questions about every decision he makes. They sit across from him while he eats. They are the judge that carries his soul. His act destroys him.
Total kills: unknown

UT Haunting Souls AU: After the human spirits are revealed, and tell the whole truth of who destroyed them to Frisk (and Papyrus)... How would the Main Characters (besides Papyrus) react to Frisk saying this;
Frisk: "I'm sorry, but I can't forgive you for what you did to the previous humans... I don't hate you though... I get that you did it, because you were following Asgore's orders... I also get that Asgore and Toriel went mad with grief, after losing both their children... But killing 6 innocent human children, and trying to kill me is still a horrible thing to do, despite your reasons." 😔
Toriel: she'd be completely torn up by it. Absolutely destroyed by the guilt of her inaction that ended the lives of the other children.
Sans: He does what he always does and lies to everyone that it doesn't matter and it doesn't affect him. I think he believed it at first but having Frisk outright refuse to forgive him puts everything into perspective of what he's done.
Papyrus: He was the only one who never killed Frisk (it's impossible to die to Papyrus) and actively defended them. However, I think he'd try and encourage them to forgive the others, which drives a wedge between them.
Undyne: She'd be angry at first. Burning with rage that "Frisk just doesn't understand!" She'd hold onto that stubbornness long as she could.
Alphys: She handles this the best, apart from maybe Agore. She understands. She'd spent so long expecting to never be forgiven for so many things. It still hurts, but she lets Frisk go with goodwill.
Asgore: He's in a very similar boat as Alphys. He knew what he was doing was cruel and wrong and he's been carrying this guilt for a very long time.

DpxDc AU: Tim as a child was never given a lot of information regarding the scribbling messy handwriting that appeared over night all over his arms- naturally he came to his own conclusions.
Tim Drake was home entirely alone at 9 years old and was about to go out for the night to test his brand new long exposure camera lens when he sees the writing on his arm. It’s not English, like he assumed it was at first, but it was using the alphabet to represent… Tim isn’t bad at math but this formula is complex for his little genius brain.
Looking at his camera, he decides he can spare a moment to look it up, solve it, and get back out into old town Gotham in time for Batman and Robin’s final patrol lap. He does just that, finding the problem to relate to some aerospace engineering and then quickly deduces what laws and theorems need to be applied. He finds a pen, writes down his findings in much neater handwriting onto his arm, and goes out. It’s barely a remarkable night at all. He gets a much more memorable photo of Robin roundhouse kicking a hench person.
Things just continued on that way. Tim would find some complex math, physics or chemistry prompt on his arm (surrounded by various question marks or notes or sad faces)- he’d answer it as best he could and move on with his life. Perhaps his parents were manifesting these pop quizzes? Perhaps his subconscious felt guilty about abandoning his studies for more Bat related pursuits? Tim really didn’t care to think much about it once he became Robin- there was too much on his plate and too many peoples problems for him to fix.
Notably, however, after the attack at the Tower, the pop quiz appeared and Tim wrote back that he wouldn’t be able to find an answer to this one. It was the only time Tim questioned the markings appearance and it was because the next thing that appeared was “Hope you feel better soon.”
… his parents wouldn’t include that on a pop quiz. Cursed then. Tim decided it must be a curse, whatever, he’d deal with the implications later in life.
Tim then has the worst year of his life, hes 15, no longer Robin and the questions from his curse are getting less math oriented and more… philosophical. A lot of mentions of death that, in hindsight helped him actually grieve, and a lot of theories about dark matter and souls. Tim answers back as best he can but he’s drained and his answers aren’t very good in his opinion. He gets minimal feedback.
It all comes to a point that he’s at a family dinner, Bruce is at the head of the table, Jason has promised just to stay for dessert, Damian hasn’t thrown a single insult his way and Steph was laughing at him- when a new theoretical model appears on his arm.
“You’re just as bad as Bruce, Timberly. Hiding a soulmate from all of us, how fucking typical.” Jason points out, while watching Tim scribble back some math with a question mark onto his arm.
“A what? No, this is just a curse. I get pop quizzes every now and then.” Tim bats away Steph who rapidly approaches and began to analyze his arm (the rest of the family isn’t far behind).
“Drake. Explain how you came to this conclusion.” Damian seems more curious than anything, if his lack of insults was anything to go off of.
“Since I was young I’ve had at least weekly math check ins, I never had a parent or anyone else around so I assumed my parents had me cursed to ensure I stayed on top of my studies. Sometimes it’s physics or chemistry, for a while there it was a ton of philosophy and behavioral psychology.” He shrugs his shoulders.
“Master Tim, I believe the lack of adults in your life has led you towards a false conclusion. That is most certainly a soulmate mark. The individual to whom you are responding is undoubtedly your other half.” Alfred attempts to calm the room before explaining to Tim. Tim isnt sure if he believes the butler, though Alfred only very rarely lied, so he grabs the pen once more. He writes his first question back: “Who am I to you?”
The room waits in anticipation and within moments a brand new line appears on Tim’s arm and he is vindicated: “We do math together???”
——
The reason Danny is failing English is because his built in homework helper sucks ass at metaphors and has apparently never read any classic literature. The tutor on his arm is great at puzzles and math tho.
Danny gets a reply back one night that he wasn’t expecting (Who am I to you?) and he mentions it to Jazz. Who goes insane that Danny didn’t even question it and just went with “meh, probably haunted” as his explanation for the phenomenon for all these years.
Apparently, if Jazz was right, he had a soulmate who was uh, super fucking smart. That was an overwhelming thought.
The next day Danny is in crisis mode and writes back “Wait, WHAT AM I TO YOU??? Can I help on your homework??”
Danny gets vindicated when the writing on his arm presents a shit ton of dates and information for an unsolved Gotham cold case. See, Haunted.
———
Eventually between Danny becoming the top candidate for astrophysics at Wayne Enterprises and Tim Drake being outed as having contributed tips to the GCPD that solved cold cases- they meet and realize just how dumb they’ve been.

DP x DC prompt - My Mother Annabelle - I mean Adelaide
(A Different Haunted Doll AU)
A young Danny finds himself in the Gotham after running away from home. He brings with him his favorite doll.
Bruce finds a young Danny wandering the streets and takes him home.
The batfam can't help but find it adorable, and a little sad, that Danny calls the doll his "mom."
That soon turns to horror.
[insert haunted doll shenanigans here]
Adelaide does not like the fact that some playboy with a furry fetish has decided to take over the parental role in Danny's life.
That's HER role!
Basically, a haunted doll and Bruce Wayne get into a custody battle.

Ghost Zone Breakout Au
So! Danny is missing. Maybe it's a Vivisection AU and he ran away, maybe he got trapped by one of his Rogues, either way, Danny is gone and his Rogues are free to spread across the planet.
Walker in particular has an interesting adventure.
After Danny trashed his Prison and broke Wulf out, people realized that it wasn't as impenetrable as he made it out to be. And what's an army of Immortal Criminals to do when given all the time in the world? They test each and every method they can to break in or to escape.
Danny's actions caused a Domino Effect that lead to Walkers Prison being torn apart from both the inside and the outside. He lost his Territory, his Power, and most of his Guards. So he decided to start again in the Mortal Realm.
And he found the perfect New Haunt.
Arkham.
He's never seen such a sorry Prison in his AfterLife (It's an asylum). Criminals breaking in and out every other week, no prisoner staying for longer than a month at most, and nobody is doing anything to fix it.
He needs to remedy this.
So one night, he and his Army of Ghostly Guards attack the Prison. They Overshadow whatever guards are on Duty, take control of the Prison Systems, and Initiate a Total Lockdown.
Walker then sends out a Message.
"People of the Mortal Realm. I an Warden Walker, the new Head of this here little Prison. We have seen how terrible this sorry excuse for a prison is, and decided to take it upon ourselves to fix it. From now on, we will be the Guards of this Arkham. Send your prisoners here, and they will stay here. Try to break in, and you will never leave. Try to force us out, and you will join our undead Ranks. This is not a Negotiation, this is not a Request, this is an Announcement. If you have a problem with this, then I will be happy for personally meet you. I am in need of new employees after all."
After this message, many tried to stop him, but none were successful. He didn't seem to understand that a Prison is meant to hold Prisoners for a determined amount of Time, not forever. Or that it wasn't a Prison in the first place, it was an Asylum to treat the mentally ill.
The Bats could do anything either. Any time they tried to take back the prison, they were beaten back by the Possessed Guards and Ghostly Guards patrolling the grounds. And they didn't want to hurt the Hostages.
They needed a solution, so they got to digging.
Apparently they weren't the only ones who were dealing with Ghost Related Issues. All across the world, powerful Ghosts were claiming large areas of land as their new Haunts, weaker Ghosts were running Rampant in the spaces in between, and JLD was being run ragged as they tried to help wherever they could.
It was a worldwide issue, and they needed to find the Cause.
After a lengthy investigation, they found that all the Ghosts originally came from one Place. A small town in Illinois where they had been trying to break into the Mortal Realm for years, but they had been stopped by another. A Ghost who protected the Mortal Realm from the powerful Spirits of the Dead.
If they had any hope of containing this threat, they needed his help. They needed to find Phantom.

if the agrestes weren't rich i think that gabriel would be the normal one. like gabe's problem is that he stopped running into natural limits due to absurd wealth and his obsessive nature led him to develop some kind of god complex where he won't accept that anything is out of his control. I think that if gabe was broke again and just simply couldn't afford to go on an international goose chase for ancient magic artifacts of untold power, if he had to work a 9-5 to live and couldn't just disappear into his basement lair to commit domestic terrorism and say evil monologues to himself, then he would be way more normal. he'd just be some guy. he might even let himself have a mowhawk again. but I think that emilie would be way LESS normal if they weren't rich. like emilie needs so many people to be obsessed with her so much all the time in order for her to function. and gabe would still have his toxic codependent obsession with her, sure, but that wouldn't be nearly enough. emilie has to be at the center of the world's spotlight at all times because she doesn't know how to exist if she's not performing. anyway all this to say I am so certain that if the agrestes were not disgustingly wealthy, emilie agreste would one million percent be running a massive family vlogger youtube channel

UT Haunting Souls AU (where Main Characters are haunted by the humans they have killed)... 👻 What if the spirits still haunt their killers, even after the Pacifist Ending?... 👻 But before breaking the barrier, Asriel/Flowey makes it so Frisk and Papyrus can see the spirits as well (cause Asriel believes that they deserve to know the truth)... 👻 How would Papyrus feel about learning that his brother + his friends are child killers?... 👻 How would Toriel feel about the Bravery Spirit telling her that Sans ended their life + he didn't keep his promise to protect Frisk? 👻
(The AU in question)
Papyrus
Papyrus would be so torn. His first reaction is that Sans is his brother! Of course he’ll stand by him no matter what. His love is entirely unconditional!
Then he thinks about “Bravery” and that odd feeling he had over his shoulder. That friendly, cold, headstrong presence he’s always had hanging around him.
He thinks about how he spent every day for years patrolling Snowden and it’s outskirts for a human only to realize his brother had not only seen one but killed it. Killed them without a fair fight. Without talking to them, without asking for help… And not only that, but he never once told him. He just… carried that.
And Undyne?! And Mettaton. And Toriel, even?
Papyrus doesn’t confront Sans. He says everything is fine, tries to smile and be strong, but pulls away a lot. He spends a lot of time with the lost souls just thinking and talking.
I think eventually the souls ask him what HE really wants to do. He wants his brother and friends and new friends back, the way he thought they were.
They say that’s not possible, so what does he want? He says he wants them back still… but he doesn’t know if he can forgive them. He’s never been so.. so ANGRY before. They tell him he doesn’t have to forgive them but that it’s his choice if he wants to go back to them or not.
He does eventually. The souls were right, things aren’t the same and they never will be. Papyrus isn’t so trusting of Sans anymore, commands a lot more respect from Undyne, and is a lot more weary of the king. But, eventually, things do become nice again.
Toriel
I think her reactions go by much quicker. She’s furious at first but really only at herself. She’s short with Sans, snaps that they really don’t know each other when he tries to explain. The kid was dangerous! That was before he’d made his promise! And he never fought Frisk, and they didn’t really die!But she didn’t care about his excuses or technicalities.
She tries very hard to tend to the souls. Integrity, Justice, and Patience put things into perspective for her. How she had no right to lord herself as a judge. How she’d abandoned them to their fates rather than face the rest of the underground.
I think she isolates a lot after that realization. Frisk tries to comfort her but she rejects it. In the end, I think it’s Asgore than manages to reach her. They don’t talk much. They don’t comfort or reunified. They sat in sorrow, just as they had for decades, but now they sat together. They understood each other a little better. And that relationship healing—even just the little bit—gave them hope.

UT Haunting Souls AU: What if the spirits tell the Main Characters that the curse binding them to the human spirits can be lifted if they do 3 things:
Asgore confesses all his crimes to the humans + surface monsters, then allows himself to be thrown in prison for life...
Toriel visits all the dead humans' families, and she tells their families how they all died, because their families deserve closure...
Toriel, Papyrus and Frisk help create a proper funeral for the dead humans... (And the dead humans' families must attend the funeral!) 🌼
that'd be sweat. Have you ever read The Thought comic? I think you'd really like Toriel it

New In Town (dp x dc)
ALRIGHT! 👏🏽 A prompt. (Or, well. A premise.) I’m schtealing a lot of worldbuilding from @mediumsizedpidegon‘s post here so bear with me please.
The Bats, however they catch wind of Amity, catch wind of Amity Park. Of course they do. Amity Park has a very distinct presence— Or, well, a lack of a presence. It may have an abundance of documented weirdness online, from folk stories to abandoned livestreams to concerning details in expats’ online blogs.
But there is no online evidence of Amity Park that leaves Amity Park.
So. What is a family of detectives to do when confronted with the need to gather physical evidence? Road Trip, baby!🏄🏽‍♂️🚗🚞🚡
Everyone hops in the car/Batplane and makes their way to Amity Park; they make hotel reservations, ring up the only reasonably rich enough people to even touch their social circle (the Manson family, and Vlad Masters, apparently), make an itinerary for all the documented tourist stops to hit up while in town off the town website, and prepare themselves for whatever dimensional weirdness is causing a complete tech blackout on the town and an inability to be found by satellite.
They get about ten feet into Amity proper when they meet the first local.
His name is Danny. He’s nice! Affable. He looks a lot like any other Wayne sibling, actually, if a little on the younger side. He notices it’s their first time in town. Do they need any help getting around?
Best way to get information is to ingratiate with a local, so...sure, why not? They get a free tour guide, Danny gets to show off his town; they see all the sights, like the local burger joint, the school, the Manson home, the town hall, the city proper. They’re having a clothing swap in the temple parking lot, actually. You should go check it out!
For whatever reason, it’s all...Punk? Goth? There’s a couple of lolita dressed tossed in, and some crocheted things. Everyone has a trunk out their car, eyeliner, and at least two piercings in their face; everyone here seems to know each other on a personal level. Well, small towns are small towns. Whatever.
Danny isn’t deterred by their reactions. If they want, there’s the movie in park tonight! If not, they can catch dinner, though; their hotel restaurant closes at 8pm sharp. (He just...knows this off the top of his head?)
They split up. Some of the family people watch at the restaurant. Everyone is...weirdly courteous to them. A little standoffish. But not at the Wayne name, just at...them being there.
The people at the park find out they’re watching The Night of the Living Dead. This would be much more normal if the park wasn’t also clearly the cemetery, in the middle of July? Which is. Why? It’s not even for any holiday or special time of the year? It’s just...clearly a movie night in the summer? There are little kids here, playing among the gravestones while their parents set out blankets and snacks. Why is this considered a family event??
Well. At least Jason has fun.
Everyone goes to bed and reconvenes in the morning. When they wake up and roll out for the day, Danny manages to find them again, this time with two new friends, bright and chipper in the morning. There’s a farmer’s market today! Everyone’s worked really hard on this week’s harvest; don’t they want to see?
...Sure?
And the longer they’re in Amity Park, the more they begin to realize how convenient it is, that they’re ferried around so easily; that there’s immediately a local who takes a liking to them, that there’s always something else to do; how suspicious it is that no data can get in or out of Amity now that they’re in it, or how they can’t seem to get close to any of the more suspicious parts of town they want to infiltrate. The town is entirely closed to outside influences. The fashion trends are strange and foreign. They only eat things grown in the area, by people they know, and it’s all sort of...green. Everyone knows everyone. Everyone knows where to go. Who to talk to. The superstitions— make no wishes, step on no cracks, wear no large jewelry, cross no shadows of any person (living or dead, apparently), speak to no one without full view of their eyes.
But nothing seems dangerous— not until a few of them try to investigate Axiom Labs, a subsidiary of the otherwise national Dalvco company, and are met to the face with a blaster that uses tech they’ve never seen, by a red fighter in an ultra-synthetic suit.
Overnight, the extremely polite and welcoming town becomes a hostile entity to fight their way out of.
