BOTTOM RICHIE RIGHTS!!! I’m sorry this took so long, but I hope you’re happy with the results. Read on AO3 or below:
Mike slowly felt himself drift into consciousness, awarenesscoming back to his senses as he blinked sleep out of his eyes. He felt next tohim for his warm-bodied companion but found empty rustled sheets instead. Mikedecided to take another moment before getting out of bed to search for hisboyfriend.
When he finally padded down the hallway, lit up by earlymorning sun that covered his skin in waves, he found the kitchen and livingroom empty as well. He busied himself with making coffee, stretching himselfout as the coffee pot filled drip by drip.
Yesterday had been exhausting, leaving his muscles feelingstiff from sleeping so deeply after such a long day. Him and Richie had arrivedat the beach house well into the evening, after a day full of travelling. They’d ordered a mediocre pizza before passing out in uncomfortable positionsthat they’d seemingly held all night, if the rigidity in Mike’s limbs wasanything to go by.
Once the coffee was done, he poured himself a cup and madehis way towards the back door, having no doubt where he’d find Richie.
Richie was a capital B beach bum. He got restless anytime hewas away from the water for too long. Something about the sand between his toesseemed to ground him, so when Mike had suggested that they get a summer beachhouse, it had earned him tons of gratitude from his excited partner.
This was the third year they’d spent their summer here sincebuying it, and Mike was used to Richie’s routine by now. Although usually a bedbug, Richie transformed into a morning bird every time they visited. He’d wakeup at the crack of dawn, as if the sun itself had reached down and shook himawake, and he’d be in the sand before he’d even grabbed breakfast. Thebeautiful thing about having a private beach was that Richie never had to worryabout looking unkempt, so he never bothered with looking presentable thosemornings.
As he’d expected, Mike spotted Richie wadding around in thewater, curly hair dripping over his shoulders and ivory chest reflecting thesun. Mike would have to grill him about wearing sunscreen later; also a routinethey’d fallen into each year.
Mike leaned against the door frame, holding his cup to hischest as he watched the goofy grin on his lover’s face expand, and then fall ashe got knocked over by a wave.
Mike waited until he was done his coffee to actually bravethe salty air and scorching sand, wincing for a moment when the sun hit hisgolden eyes, until they adjusted to the brightness. He slid the patio doorclosed behind him and walked down the steps leading him to the beach.
It didn’t take long before Richie noticed him, grinreturning as he waved wildly over his head as if Mike might not be able to spotthe only other person in the vicinity. He smiled, returning the gesture, beforesettling down into one of the reclining beach chairs they’d set out.
Richie came traipsing out of the water, a little pep in hisstep from a morning in his happiest place. He was wearing something that Mikehad never seen before, and he had to hold himself back from laughing at thesight of a tight leopard print speedo barely covering Richie’s junk.
“Good mooooorning Mikey!” Richie greeted, plopping down intoMike’s lap without warning. Mike let out a little oof before settlinghis arms around Richie’s waist and pulling him close, complaininglightheartedly about Richie’s wet butt soaking his boxers in ocean water.
“What are you wearing?” Mike asked, cocking one eyebrow andsmirking down at the offending item.
“It’s a speedo!” Richie defended, snapping the waistline againsthis skin for emphasis.
“Since when do you wear speedos?”
“What, a man can’t look good for his boyfriend?” Richiewiggled in his spot, rubbing up against Mike very deliberately. Mike’s hold onRichie tightened warningly and Richie stopped moving.
“You always look good; I just didn’t know speedos were yourthing.”
“Well. Now they are.” Richie said decidedly. “Besides, youlike it, don’t lie.” Richie squirmed in Mike’s lap once again, causing Mike tostill his hands on his mischievous boyfriend’s hips.
“Are you trying to give me a boner on the beach?”Mike asked accusingly.
“Mmmmmmmaybe.” Richie looked up at Mike through thick blacklashes, batting them to feign innocence.
“At least let a man have breakfast first.”
“But I’ve been waiting for you all morning.” Richie moaned.
The spot in Mike’s heart that belonged to Richie thumped alittle louder, drowning out the common sense he was trying to hold on to. Therewas only so much he could do when Richie spoke to him with such desire anddepravity.
“All right, get that little ass inside then.” Mike crumbledeasily, slapping Richie’s ass playfully in a gesture to get him moving.
“Mmmm- too far.” Richie mumbled, beginning to nose at thecolumn of Mike’s neck.
Mike laughed a little incredulously, deciding to humorRichie for a moment.
“So, what, we’re just gonna give our neighbors a show?”
“They wouldn’t complain.” Richie teased, his light kissesturning into nips that had Mike’s blood pressure rising.
“Richie…” Mike warned, beginning to feel himself stir in hisboxers.
“Come on Mike, I didn’t get off at all yesterday.” Richiewhined, the sound, unfortunately, only adding to Mike’s growing problem.
“We were travelling-”
“If someone hadn’t objected to joining the mile-high club, Iwouldn’t be so riled up-”
“I didn’t want to start our vacation with us getting introuble-”
“We wouldn’t have gotten in trouble-”
“You’re getting yourself in a lot of trouble right now withthat mouth-”
“Oh, sorry for missing my boyfriend’s cock-”
“Fine.” Mike gripped the back of Richie’s neck, pulling himinches from his mouth, Mike’s lips ghosting his. “You want me to fuck you onthis beach, right out in the open where everyone can see what a desperate cockslut you are?”
Richie’s eyes were wide, shock written on his features. Heclearly wasn’t expecting Mike to give in so quickly, but quite honestly, Mikedidn’t have much fight in him when his dick was throbbing.
It took a slight jolt from Mike to remind Richie to answer, and then he was shaking his head eagerly.
“And what do you expect me to stretch you out with? Oceanwater?” Mike prodded, the slight condescension causing a flush to Richie’scheeks.
“No, I-”
“You have 30 seconds to get the lube or you have to stretchyourself out.” Mike deadpanned, the inklings of a smirk twitching at the cornerof his lip. Richie loved it when Mike got authoritative.
It didn’t take long before Richie was stumbling to his feet, trying to beat the traction of the sand as he ran towards their beach house.Mike counted in his head, listening intently for the sound of padding footstepsexiting the house again. When they finally did, Mike was up to 38 seconds, buthe chose to keep that to himself.
He heard a tumbling and whirled his head around to see Richielosing his footing on the stairs, his body slipping horizontal as his hand heldon to the rail to keep him from fully falling. Mike noted the speedo, pulledhaphazardly around Richie’s knees, and guessed that the culprit of hisdownfall.
“Someone’s eager.” Mike noted, as Richie righted himself andtook the time to pull his speedo the rest of the way down, stepping out of itcarefully before resuming his sprint towards Mike.
Richie came to an ungraceful halt in front of Mike, thrusting the lube out with a triumphant smile, his breathing labored fromtrying to beat the clock.
Richie’s cock looked painfully hard, and Mike wondered ifgoing one day without fucking had always affected Richie this way, or if it wasjust since they’d gotten together. Mike’s ego would like to believe the latter.
“Alright, let’s get you satiated before some poor sap has tolook out their window only to be blinded by your pale ass.” Mike crooked hisfinger in a come-hither motion.
“They can admire my pale ass all they want, as longas you’re the one fucking it.” Richie responded without missing a beat, climbing back into Mike’s lap.
Mike laughed along with Richie, giggling into each other’smouths with a bliss that Mike only ever felt around the love of his life. Itwas a carefree laugh with no worries hiding behind closed doors or secrets hidingunder floorboards. They were as raw and open with each other as they possiblycould be, in a way that Mike hadn’t felt in any of his relationships outsidethe other Losers. He felt grateful that the world had allowed him to fall inlove with one of his best friends.
It only took a few minutes of kissing for Richie to getimpatient, tugging on Mike’s hand and trying to guide him where he wanted him.
“Please, Mike, just-” Richie panted against Mike’s lips, hisvoice breathy with need and cutting off midsentence.
“What, you want me to go in there dry after you went to allthe trouble to grab the lube?” Mike chuckled deeply, reminding Richie that hewas, in fact, holding the lube hostage in one tight-knuckled hand.
“Oh, fuck- yeah here.” Richie eagerly popped the cap on thebottle and squeezed about half its contents into Mike’s awaiting hand. It oozedthrough Mike’s fingers and down to his wrist as Mike’s shocked eyes flittedback and forth from the massacre in his hand to Richie’s face.
“Well jeez, think that’s enough, Rich?”
Richie made a noise deep in his throat that sounded bothneedy and apologetic all at once. As if he was sorry, but not really thatsorry.
With enough lube to drown a man, Mike had no problemslipping the first finger in. The others took a little more time, but withinminutes Mike had four of his fingers thrusting in and out of Richie, theexcessive lube making a lewd squelching noise that made Mike blush from top tobottom.
“Mikey, I can’t wait any longer, please-”
The switch from fingers to cock was effortless, Richie’sbody stretching to accommodate the intrusion like the well-trained boy he was.He slid down Mike’s length with a heady moan that crawled into Mike’s gut andignited the coil that was already pulling taut.
“I’ve got you.” Mike wrapped his arms around Richie’s waist, the action made easy by how tiny Richie was compared to him. Mike’s hand alonealmost engulfed Richie’s entire back, eclipsing the pale skin with dark umber.
Richie melted above him, his muscles relaxing under Mike’s holdand the familiar stretch of his hole.
Over the years, they’d discovered that Richie took to dickthe way others took to chocolate, or ice cream; cock was his comfort food. WhenRichie was nestled around Mike was when he was happiest, and Mike sometimesforgot how stressed Richie could get without his fill. Their trip really hadtaken its toll on him.
“Is that better, baby?” Mike asked gently, rolling his hipsand elating at the content mewl he got in response.
“Mmm.” Richie hunched over slightly so he could set his headon Mike’s shoulder, kissing his neck lazily as he began bouncing shallowly inplace. Mike let his hands trail down the length of Richie’s back, settling onthe globes of his ass and squeezing hard enough to leave crescent moons in hiswake.
Richie responded with a slight increase to his thrusts, butnot enough to satisfy Mike’s pulsing need.
“Are you gonna pleasure yourself on my cock, or just playaround with it a little?” Mike teased, nudging Richie’s forehead with his chinso he was forced to look up and meet Mike’s wanting eyes.
Richie gazed at him through a shadow of lashes, innocenceand deviance battling behind his eyes. Mike could tell Richie was trying todecide which response he wanted to give; whether he wanted to comply, or tease.
Richie straightened back up, placing his hands on Mike’schest for stability as he peered down at him, decision made and determined.
Locking eyes with Mike, Richie tensed his thighs and raisedhimself up until just the crown of Mike’s head was settled against Richie’srim. Mike’s lungs seized up in anticipation, before Richie was baring down andpunching the air right out of him, along with a drawn-out groan.
“So good for me.” Mike crooned, watching as Richie repeatedthe motion again. “So beautiful like this.”
Mike’s hands moved to Richie’s thighs, surveying the fadingmarks he’d left there a few days ago. He pressed down on one, noticing how itblossomed around his finger and caused Richie to let out a little gasp.
“Wanna mark you up like this again.” Mike said absently.
“Please.” Richie begged wantonly.
If it was possible to get his mouth on those thighs andstill fuck into him, Mike would have done so in a heartbeat. But as it was, he wasnot a contortionist, so he settled for putting it on the list for later.
They settled on a brisk but relaxed pace, letting themselvesenjoy the languid thrusts and the thrill that rushed under their skin each timethey remembered they were out in the open.
Mike ran his hands back up Richie’s body, taking his time totrace every curve and dip and crevice along the way. He payed extra attentionto Richie’s nipples, grinning when it caused Richie to arch his back furtherand turn his head towards the sky.
Once Richie was red chested and begging for release, alreadywound so tight even though they’d only been at it for a few minutes, Mike lethis hands trail the rest of the way towards their destination. Thick fingersthreaded through black hair, which reflected in shades of brown and bluedepending on how the sun chose to illuminate it. Richie’s hair was one of Mike’sfavorite parts of his appearance, though it was tough competition if he wasbeing honest. He loved everything about Richie, but there was something especiallyappealing about the way those soft curls would tighten around his fingers, caginghim in as if they had a life of their own and never wanted to let him go.
In response, Richie’s hands darted into Mike’s own hair, which had been grown out since their younger years, and was now pulled into abun atop his head. Mike had voluptuous curls of his own, but the sides and napeof his neck were all shorn, leaving the natural curls atop his head the main focalpoint. Richie had loved every hair style Mike had worn over the years, but thisone was by far his favorite, and he was vocal about it, too.
“God, you’re so sexy Mikey-” Richie breathed, eyes liddedand already looking fucked out of his mind. He absently pulled off the elasticthat held Mike’s hair in place, and dug his fingernails deep into his scalp, watching as the curls cascaded down to frame Mike’s face.
Mike pulled him in close, leaning their foreheads against oneanother, and settling his gaze where they were connected. He watched intentlyas Richie continued to grind up and down, slowly squeezing the life out of Mike’scock.
He couldn’t help but grind his hips, imagining himself stirringRichie’s insides around. And if Richie’s reaction was anything to go by, itprobably felt fairly similar. Moans were dripping out of his mouth like saliva, getting higher and higher pitched as Mike continued his ministrations.
Mike pistoned his hips up once, experimentally, and receiveda resounding response.
“Daddy! Daddy- fuck- oh my god-” Richie’s hipsslapped down to meet Mike’s next thrust, his cheeks now marked with tearstreaks that Mike wanted to lick off. Richie never looked as good as he didwhen he was wrecked like this.
Mike continued to fuck up into him, leaning in and kissingRichie’s forehead, his eyebrow, his temple. Their mouths intermingled as theyboth labored for breath and struggled to keep their pace.
“Fuck… look at you, princess.” Mike whispered against Richie’slips
Richie keened at the use of the nickname, his entire bodyseizing up as he crested over the edge. Mike continued to fuck him through his climax, his touch gentle but his thrusts rough.
Once Richie finally stopped spilling out onto Mike’sstomach, aftershocks mimicking the waves behind them, Mike hit his ownthreshold.
Richie was pliant as Mike fucked up into him. He knew Richiewas probably experiencing overstimulation, but he didn’t make a peep, lettingMike ride out his own orgasm for as long as he needed to.
It was a long time before either of them moved again. The warmsun had a way of lulling them into even deeper of a post-coital bliss than usual. It wasn’t until a seagull squawked nearby that they were brought back to reality.
Mike stretched his arms up above his head, smiling down atRichie as he nuzzled further into Mike’s chest. By now he’d completely softenedinside Richie, and their stomachs were sticking together like someone hadpoured glue between them. He’d have to get them to a shower before Richie triedto prance back into the Ocean and claim it was ‘good enough’.
The seagull squawked again, sounding closer now and almost…human like. Now that Mike thought about it, it didn’t sound all that much likethe seagulls they were used to. He swivelled around as much as he could with anotherfull-grown man laying on his body and caught sight of the very-much-not-a-seagulltrampling towards them.
“Fuck! Richie, get up!” Mike scrambled to stand on his ownfeet, hissing slightly as he slipped out of Richie’s tight heat and suddenly feltmuch more exposed than he’d like.
“What’s going on- OH FUCK.” Richie stumbled backwards a few stepsbefore homing in on the fast approaching threat that had caused Mike’sreaction.
A few meters away, holding a sandal threateningly in herraised hand and a scowl on her face, was a woman who was speaking in spurts of Spanishand broken English. Richie had taken Spanish in high school, and although he didn’tremember much, he’d prided himself on learning every Spanish swear word therewas; and this woman seemed to know them all.
Richie panicked, turning around in a circle and searchingthe sand as if he could find a way to hide himself, maybe build a quick sandcastle and crown himself king. All may enter except this lady.
Mike, being the rational one as always, grabbed Richie’swrist before he started booking it back towards the beach house.
As they reached the steps, Richie realized they’d left theirlube behind, and high on adrenaline and panic, suddenly it seemed like the mostimportant possession he’d ever owned.
“THE LUBE!” Richie shouted to Mike, tearing his arm from Mike’sgrasp.
“Richie, leave it!” Mike shouted back, eyeing the woman whowas still storming towards them, now yelling words that he didn’t need to speakSpanish to understand.
“No one left behind, Michael!” Richie ran back towards thechair, slipping down on to his side and sliding along the ground like he’d seenBill do a million times in his baseball games. He felt the sand dig into his bareflesh and immediately regretted the decision, but he had no time to do anythingbut grab the bottle and run.
So, he did just that, kicking sand up behind him as he triedto move as quickly as possible. Ahead of him, Mike was holding the patio dooropen for him, anxiously ushering him forward as if it had the magic ability to makeRichie faster.
When he finally reached the stairs for the second time, Richiefelt something hard hit his back. He kept moving, his rapid heartbeat drowningout the yelling to the right of him.
He reached the top step, took a giant leap, and landedinside the beach house on wobbling feet. He turned back towards the door whichMike was sliding shut and locking into place, and he raised his hands in triumph.
Staring back at him from the bottom of their stairs, pickingup the sandal she’d thrown at Richie, was the middle-aged woman who had all butdamned them to hell. She was glowering in fury at the two younger men, the gripon her sandal strong enough to bend it nearly in half.
Richie lowered his arms, realizing it probably looked likehe was flashing her on purpose. He mouthed a guilty ‘sorry’ as Mike drew the blindsshut.
“Well… that was an experience.” Mike whispered, as if worriedthe angry woman might have superhuman hearing.
“Yeah, I’m gonna be digging sand out of my ass crack fordays.” Richie responded, turning and presenting his backside to Mike. The lube thatcoated his ass and upper thighs had acted as an adhesive for the sand he’drolled in, leaving him absolutely caked in it. At the sight, Mike couldn’t helpbut burst out laughing at the absurdity of the whole situation.
“Alright, let’s get you a shower.” He chuckled,side-stepping around his sandy boyfriend and only getting close enough to leavea peck against Richie’s forehead before was disappearing down the hall towardsthe bathroom.
Richie trailed after him, leaving a literaltrail of sand in his wake.

Road To Vegas - IT (2017)
A preview to a fic I’m working on! The losers find their old bucket lists, and decide to finish them before college. Ships: Reddie, Benverly, Stanlonbrough
--------
Eddie Kaspbrak had every fucking right to be terrified. Every single right. He was about to ask his mother- the pinnacle of a helicopter parent- if he could go on a camping trip with his friends. One with no supervisors, no parents, and a stupid plan. It had started then the losers were sleeping at Beverly’s aunts house.
They were sitting in front of a TV, Richie and Eddie sharing a beanbag chair, Bev leaning against Stan, who’s against the wall. Mike, teaching Bill how to make friendship bracelets, and Ben, sitting next to Bev, watching her smokee. The sun was low, and golden beams of light shone their way through the dust covered windows. The cheap fabric drapes were held apart by pushpins. Bev took a long drag off her cigarette, blowing the smoke towards Richie, who waved the air in front of his face in an attempt to get the smoke away from Eddie, who hated the smell of cigarettes. Eddie laughed a bit, and reminded Richie quietly that he didn’t mind too much anymore. They were going to college, they’d have to get used to the smell. Richie nodded, reaching out and grabbing a cigarette from Bev, lighting it and blowing the smoke away from Eddie nonetheless. The mood was tired. Musty. They sat in a natural and comfortable silence, and the only noise was the sound of Ren and Stimpy screaming. Eddie laughed a little at the TV, and Richie’s heart exploded. Other than that, it was quiet. Fuck, Richie hated the quiet.
“We should do something dumb!” He announced, his hair bouncing as he perked up with a smile. “We could murder someone. Like in the movies. Then we could run away and start a new life-” He was interrupted by Eddie groaning.
“Shut up! It’s Ren and Stimpy! I love this show,” he said bitterly to Richie, looking back at the TV. He watched closely, a childlike wonder in his eyes. Bev felt bad for the kid. He never had any real freedom. He had a small variety of shows he was allowed to watch, and Ren and Stimpy was not one of them, which was why he would watch shows whenever he got the chance at his friends’ house.
Bev hummed, smiling. Fuck, her friends really are just like children. “Murder could be fun,” she offered sarcastically, laughing as Ben immediately protested and started going on a rant about morals. “Benny- Ben- I’m kidding,” she chuckled, putting a hand on Ben’s shoulder. His frown immediately faded away, and was replaced with a smile as he sighed a soft ‘oh’.
Bill hummed. “It’s our gap year. We don’t have school, and still, we aren’t doing anything reckless like causing trouble or running around town. Isn’t that unlike us?” He asked, holding up his friendship bracelet and turning to Mike. “How’s this?” Mike gave a wide, fake smile. Bill was trying really hard. Even if it was a knotty, tangled mess. “Great, Bill.” Bill grinned, handing it to Mike and holding his wrist out. Mike tied it around his wrist, nodding. “There.” Bev furrowed her brows. Running around town. That could work, but they’d have to expand their area. “We could go camping,” she offered. “And just go on a road trip and drive around places,” she said. She quickly stood up, digging through her bedside drawer past cigarettes, a lighter, and a crumpled postcard that was barely readable. She got another piece of paper, which was folded a bit nicer, and sat back down, spreading it out smooth. “I found this the other day while I was cleaning my room. It’s one of the bucket lists we all made when we were in middle school.” She looked down her list, looking for a potential location. Richie pointed at the paper quickly.
“Go to Vegas,” he read aloud, smiling. “Damn, Marsh, you trying to gamble?” Eddie peeled his eyes away from the screen, looking back at the paper and turning the TV down. “Hey, Eds,” Richie hummed offhandedly, reading down the list.
Suddenly, Eddie started laughing, covering his mouth with his hand. All the other losers looked over at him, confused and slightly amused. “Punch Bowers!” He wailed happily, pointing at the list and laying back, putting a hand on his stomach and laughing hard. Richie watched him with a grin and started laughing too, air being pulled from his lungs by the contagiousness of Eddie’s laugh. Eddie was on his back next to him, grinning and giggling. He wiped his eyes, and Richie noticed there were tears.
Bev grinned and rolled her eyes, giving a small laugh and looking at the list. “I think we should try and check our lists off.” Eddie’s laughing calmed down, and he sat up.
“What?” Eddie asked, an unsure smile settling on his face. “Bev, I don’t even know if I still have that list, and if we leave, my mom would kill me,” he said, furrowing his brows. Bev hummed, grabbing a piece of scrap paper and rewriting the list with a sharpie. A bit of the ash from her cigarette fell onto her hand as she was writing, and she quickly blew it off, wincing a bit. She finished the list, setting it down.
“There.” She hummed, giving a short nod. “We should find our lists, and if we can’t, we should write new ones.” Bev stood up, pulling a jacket on. “Come on, we’re going.” Eddie’s eyes widened. “Where?” He asked quickly. “We can’t go anywhere that my mom doesn’t know about, Bev.” She groaned, crossing her arms.
“You’re eighteen. You’re legally an adult,” she insisted, giving everyone a look. Stan, Mike, Bill and Ben all stood up, leaving just Richie and Eddie. Richie didn’t want to leave Eddie, so he stayed sitting. Eddie stood up, and Richie followed closely. “Good. I just want food. Let’s go to the pharmacy, they have really good chips.” Stan chuckled and tugged on the collar of his shirt, trying to straighten it a little. Stan had only recently been diagnosed with OCD, and it was a fucking nightmare. Mostly because all of his friends assumed it made him a neat freak. It was the nineties. Of course nobody was properly educated. As they walked out of the house, he flicked the lightswitch thirteen times. Stanley Uris. 13 letters. Mike sighed. “Guys, I don’t know if running away and checking off a bucket list from 7th grade is the best idea,” he said softly, worried that he might hurt the other’s feelings. Bill looked over at Mike, shrugging and smiling.
“Does it matter how good an idea it is? We’re trying to have fun.”
And somehow, that was all it took to convince the group. Bill had a natural leader complex, and where he and Bev went, everybody followed. If Bill and Bev thought it was a good idea, everyone did.

i know that you will catch me right before i hit the ground
pairing: richie tozier & everybody, richie tozier/eddie kaspbrak
summary: you are always there for me, when i need you most, day and night, you’re by my side, protecting me
or: wentworth and maggie tozier love the fuck out of their son and are good parents, y’all are just mean
warnings: child abuse (mentioned), emotional abuse (mentioned), sexual abuse (mentioned), incestuous relations (mentioned),
Richie’s parents had never fully declared an open door policy in their home, Richie hadn’t never asked about it. When they were younger and the group was smaller, they always went to the Denbroughs if the urge came upon them to hang out inside. Sure, maybe, the Toziers was bigger and had more expensive things but the Denbroughs had a baby Georgie which Richie just couldn’t compete with.
Of course, things changed after Georgie disappeared. It wasn’t properly discussed, but it became apparent that there a had been cold shift in the Denbrough house. The distance between the Denbrough parents and their remaining son, a constant holding of him at an arms length.
The actually movement from hanging out at Billy’s to hanging out Richie’s didn’t happen immediately by any means, they had allowances now and could do things besides sitting outside all the time. Arcades, movies, the works.
If sometimes Bill would spend hours sitting in Richie’s room with him after every body had gone back home, nobody questioned it. Maggie would always welcome Bill to stay for dinner and give him extra dessert.
Bill became a pretty normal presence at the Tozier’s dinner at least two or three times a week and Richie really started giving thought to how nice to was to have his friends around the house. Richie had never really considered the concept of being lonely, because he was never really alone. He spent his free time with his friends, and his parents were more than happy to let Richie come sit with them on the couch in the evenings if he wanted to. Most of the time, he didn’t want to. Richie didn’t mind spending nights alone in his room, unless he was really feeling his ADHD that night.
But having Bill around during dinner and even past dark was nice. Richie had never had the urge for a sibling, in truth, he liked not having to share his parents love and attention but the feeling of being a like a brother to Bill Denbrough when he needed one was a rush to the heart that Richie enjoyed.
---
Stanley showed up on Richie’s doorstep one night when they were eleven, cuddling up in a large jacket and flushed cheeks. Richie blinked at him, and stepped aside surprisingly wordlessly. Before Richie could even ask what he was doing there, Stan launched quickly into an angrier and longer rant than Richie had ever heard from his best friend. The boy just going off about his father and all the stupid pressure his father was putting on him about his studies and his bar mitzvah. Richie wasn’t sure what he should say, so for once, he just stood in silence and let his friend complain with angry tears streaming down his cheeks.
When Wentworth came into the front foyer, he took one look at the flushed and frazzled Stanley Uris and took them both into the kitchen. He sat the boys down at the table and made them all tea, even as Richie curled his nose up at it. He talked to Stan in a soft, clear voice. He talked about fathers, about how it almost seemed like a curse that they would never be able to fully understand their sons, that they would put too much pressure on them and that it was because they wanted them to succeed.
Richie looked up and his dad and they exchanged soft smiles.
It, too, became a tradition after that. Stan coming to the Toziers every time things got just a little too intense with his dad. It was always the same every time, Stan coming over flushed and angry and letting Wentworth and Maggie calm him down. Making sure Stan knew that, yes, his father loved him even if he was making things hard for him right now. That parents made mistakes, too, sometimes. Stan wasn’t one who was good at stomaching mistakes, which made Richie sort of marvel sometimes at how Stan was even friends with him.
---
The only person Richie had ever felt the need to sneak into his house was Beverly Marsh. Richie felt nothing romantic towards the girl at all, never really had, but he still wasn’t sure his parents would be as welcoming to her camping out on his bedroom floor as they were with Billy or Stan.
The thing with Richie and Beverly was, of course, that they were terrible at being sneaky and were caught out after the second attempt to sneak her after dark. Richie got the third degree- and what felt like the fourth or the fifth- from his parents before he finally broke down and told them everything Beverly had to struggle with at home and her dad.
He’d never seen his father look scarier as he did as he left the house that night, swearing the he would never let Beverly step foot in that environment ever again. Maggie and Richie put together their guest room perfectly for her, and Beverly began the sibling that Richie had always believed he didn’t want but maybe had wanted all along.
---
Ben’s introduction to spending hours and hours at time at Tozier’s house originated from spending time with Beverly but it seemed almost like Wentworth and Maggie had ingrained radar built into them to know when a kid was coming from a troubled house at this point. They were the Losers Club, after all, it only made sense that they had struggles.
Maggie noticed the way Ben’s hand always went to brush over his mouth when he was offered food, how he wore sweaters no matter the temperature. She knew that Richie and Bev blew her off when she asked about it, would have expected nothing less from the her kids that believed their parents didn’t know they smoke weed out Richie’s window and kept smoke stashes under Beverly’s bed. They prided themselves on the secrets they thought they were good at keeping.
She kept her meddling with the sweet boy more subtle than she did with Bill or Stanley. Small reassuring comments or causal compliments towards Ben that would make the boy blush and her kids exchange small smiles.
---
Even families that are close and full of love have their own problems, and Mike Hanlon even had his share of sleeping on Richie’s bedroom floor. The fights between Mike and his parents never compared to that which the others went through, but Richie could understand that sometimes you just needed space.
Richie and Mike always went to each other for that, parental issues wise. They both knew that they’d gotten fucking lucky in that department, but if Mike ever started feeling over worked he’d go sleepover at Tozier’s and take some time to himself. It was the same as if Richie ever felt too much like his parents didn’t understand him and made him feel like he didn’t belong, he’d go smoke weed and feed the chickens at the Hanlon farm.
Mike was probably the favourite friend of Maggie and Wentworth because he was the most helpful without question.
---
The Tozier open door policy only had restrictions for one Eddie Kaspbrak. He had probably been using the open door policy before it was even a consideration, a thought in the back of anybody’s heads. Eddie had been going to seek comfort in Maggie and Wentworth (and defintely not Richie, of fucking course not, that’s just stupid.) whenever his mother was Just Too Much.
Of course, once Eddie and Richie got their shit together and became a couple, the Toziers needed to implace rules because being Richie’s parents had always come first. It never banned Eddie from the house, no- the door open policy mostly just became literally. Eddie and Richie had been in rooms with open doors, where they could be monitored. Absoultely no sleeping in the same bed, or even in the same room. (Once Beverly was moved in, Eddie would be know to move from the couch in living room to her bed. Richie never missed an opportunity to raise his voice about how unfair a double standard that was. He was always ignored, of course.)
Those rules, too, were thrown aside the night Eddie showed up on their porch with tears burning his eyes and a bright red hand mark on his cheek. There had been many minutes of coxing before Eddie spit out the truth that he’d finally gotten up the courage to come out to his mother and, in her denial fueled rage, she’d hit him.
Richie may have gotten the chance to his father’s look of pure rage for the second time in his life, if he hadn’t had his face buired into boyfriend’s hair as they shook with sobs. That night, Wentworth Tozier swore for the second time that he would never let a child enter the home of their parents ever again. Soft conversation between Maggie and Wentworth had made it that they would renovate the basement for Eddie to have as his space before all three left for college the following year.
One look at the boys clutching to each other like life lines, and they knew there would never be a question of separating them that night. And they were fine with that.
---
The day Richie and Eddie packed up for California, everybody was there. They were the first Losers to leave, and it was big scary event for everybody. Richie made the first move towards his parents, wrapping an arm around his mother and handing the box to his father.
Nestling inside were two matching gold rings, one smaller than the other in width, with the words “mom and dad” engraved on them. Maggie teared up instantly and moved to bury herself in her son.
“We all pitched in for them,” Richie said, giving his dad a small smile. “They’re not like, real gold or any of that shit because we’re broke college students that were broke high school students like a month ago but-”
“We wanted you to know that we appreciate everything you’ve done for us over the years,” Bev jumped, letting her arm go around Richie’s waist. “Especially me but-”
“No-no,” Bill smiled from where he sat on the front lawn. “I pretty much lived here as-as much as y-you did, Bev. And long-longer.”
Wentworth spoke to the group but only had eyes for his son. “The door is always open if you ever want come home.”
Richie smiled sadly and gave a small nod.

Just Hold Me a Bit Tighter - Hanzier
AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/15313434
Richie almost always had a smile on his face. This was a given fact. Of course, there were certain things that none of them could really smile about. With the exception of that summer, and whenever they discuss it, Richie always wore his trademark shit-eating grin that made his eyes shine.
He always jokes about Eddie’s mother, much to Eddie’s disdain. If Edward Kaspbrak had multiple problems Richie’s jokes about his mother were several of them. Eddie wouldn’t dare admit it, but those jokes helped him at times.
Especially after the ‘gazebo’ discussion. That summer when Eddie had called his mother out on the way she had held him captive in a world of fake medications. Richie may have feigned hurt when Eddie would playfully hit him, but Mike had always seen his eyes glow with almost a smug expression of their own. Richie always knew what he was doing, it seemed.
That theory came back into play after Stan’s Bar Mitzvah. When his father began practically drowning him in religion after the things he had said. Not only had Richie stood proudly and clapped, as he had talked to Stan the night before and tried convincing him to say it, but the teasing about Stan’s religion came in full force.
It definitely helped Stan, to have someone who kept things the same, rather than everyone else who had seemed to become harsher towards Richie and softer towards Stan. Mike saw that look in Richie’s eyes, so he had decided to not interfere with whatever Richie’s true plan was.
Those are just a few examples of the way Richie Tozier had seemed to do things. Everything he did was with a grin that reached his eyes or a smile with eyes that showed something else, that something else always being positive.
Mike noticed this. It was one of the things that had pushed him to say yes when Richie had initially asked him out. It was in stupid pick-up lines and jokes of usual Richie Tozier fashion, but Mike could tell he meant it by the way his eyes shone. They showed caring, fear that Mike would reject him, and if Mike looked close enough, he might almost say that he could see love.
————
That love in Richie’s eyes was always there, in whatever they did. No matter what happened to them you could truly see that Richie loved Mike.
Even when they stood at the grave of William Hanlon, roughly a year after his death and their graduation. The end for William and a new beginning for Mike, Richie, and the entire losers club.
Even as they stood, Mike, holding tightly onto Richie and softly crying into his shoulder. Richie wearing a serious expression while keeping his arms around Mike. When Mike stepped back, taking a deep breath to regain his composure as he looked up a bit to meet Richie’s eyes, he saw Richie’s expression soften into a small smile.
His eyes were filled with gentleness, compassion, and love. A look that it seemed only Mike could seem to make him pull off. It was sweet, and Mike couldn’t help but return the smile as he took Richie’s hand- furnished with a silver promise ring supplied by Mike- as they walked back towards the car they had rented for the duration of their stay back in Maine.
————
However, there were times, especially as they got older, that the glow in Richie’s eyes wouldn’t be there. The shine of love was always there, which was important, especially after they got married. It was just that happiness that Mike had come to know from his husband wouldn’t be there sometimes.
Mike was okay with that, of course. Richie was allowed to feel negative emotions, though to most people those weren’t a frequent thing for him. What he wasn’t as okay with, was how Richie attempted to hide it.
Stressful, long, late night shifts were what had done Richie in. Richie loved his job, don’t get me wrong, working at an LA radio station not far from him and Mike’s shared apartment was great. However, suddenly there was a lot more than just making playlists and screwing around on air.
When he went from simply a talk show host to owner of the radio station, suddenly things got a lot more complicated. There were bills for the station, and scheduling, and staying on top of everything to make sure that all shows and people and advertisers and sponsors involved with the station were doing well and everything was running smoothly.
Mike was always there for him, and supportive of his decisions, and Richie knew that. Richie, however, didn’t want to put his worries on Mike. That, and he wasn’t all that great with expressing those types of things.
Obviously, suddenly taking on more shifts that nine times out of ten were much longer than he was used to and not properly handling the stress was the best option. At least, that’s what Richie decided. So he didn’t say anything about how he felt. About how stressed he was, about the weight on his chest and the backpack of pressure on his shoulders.
It’s not like he would be a burden to Mike. Mike was always a good listener, he had been for years and Richie was sure that hadn’t changed. It’s not like Mike had a high-stress job, he was simply a librarian downtown. Not that being a librarian doesn’t come with its moments- Wednesday afternoons from three to five PM sounded terrible from what Mike had told him- but most of Mike’s job seemed pretty calm.
To be fair, Richie didn’t exactly need to tell Mike. Mike already had his suspicions. He noticed the lack of shine in Richie’s eyes, though the love was still there when Richie looked at him, of course, he did. But there were other things too.
The heels of Richie’s hands would frequently press on his eyes, he- thought he tried to control it around Mike- had begun to smoke more. He ran his hands through his hair more frequently and more frequently got lost in his own thoughts. The point is, Mike could tell.
So one evening, when Mike had finished making dinner and went to their shared bedroom to get Richie. He wasn’t one-hundred percent surprised when he found Richie curled up on their bed, tears pricking the corners of his eyes that could be seen when he turned his head up to look at Mike.
Richie put on a smile, blinking rapidly as he quickly stood up and pretended that Mike hadn’t seen him the way he was. “What’s cookin’, good lookin’? Whatever it is, it smells great. Can’t wait to eat it.” He spoke quickly, kissing Mike’s temple before attempting to leave the room.
Mike stopped Richie and gave him a fond smile, which soon turned into an expression of concern, “Richie, love, I’m worried about you,” he started off slow, his tone gentle, “what’s going on?”
Richie feigned confusion, his eyes betraying him as they always did by showing surprise that Mike had figured it out, “why whatever do you mean? Nothing to be concerned about, babe. Good old Richie Tozier-Hanlon, same as he always is.” His tone was more casual, shifting his weight to his right while his arms crossed over his chest.
Mike’s expression stayed, his tone growing more worried, “I can see through your ruse. You’re not okay. You don’t have to talk about why I just want to know how to help you.” While more worried, his tone remained gentle. He softly wrapped his arms around Richie, resting his head on Richie’s shoulder, “now answer me honestly this time, please. Can I help you, and if so, how?”
Richie softly sighed, relaxing a bit when Mike wrapped his arms around his waist. Actually, he relaxed quite a lot. He was so busy the past few days that he and Mike hardly had any time together. He guesses he just really needed a hug.
Richie always felt safe in Mike’s arms. His arms were strong, both from years on the farm back in Derry and weekly visits to the gym.
Honestly, it was probably impossible to not feel protected in Mike’s embrace, and that’s most likely why Richie loved it so much. That, and the fact that it was another thing about Mike to love.
Mike feels Richie relax, so he doesn’t move, “Richie? I’d like an answer,” he says softly, pressing a light kiss to Richie’s shoulder.
Richie thinks for a moment, wrapping his own arms around Mike before answering, “just hold me a bit tighter.”
————
That was how they ended up on their couch in the living room, eating dinner with Richie proudly sitting in Mike’s lap, and when they had finished, Mike’s arms were back around Richie.
Mike held Richie close, showering him with sweet compliments and at some point moving a hand to gently run through Richie’s unruly, raven-colored curls. Richie’s glasses were taken off and placed on the coffee table, along with the dirty dishes and some assorted papers.
Richie had his head on Mike’s chest, his feet dangling over the edge of the couch as he relaxed under Mike’s touch. Eventually, he fell asleep to Mike’s words. Mike didn’t mind, he kept brushing Richie’s hair with his hand until he fell asleep himself, happy he could help Richie.

Derry Nights
hi i tried to make this as open ended as possible so you can picture whatever ship your little heart desires also i recommend listening 2 this while reading bc you bet your ass i was while writing it: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KbuGWgYLqWk ---- The room was dim, a collection of three tea lights on the nightstand acting as the only source of brightness. Street light filtered in through the window, but in such a small town as Derry, there weren't many lamps to provide such light. That was okay. Neither of the boys minded. As long as they both could see each other, they were alright. They were safe. The space was warm and heavy. The air felt like a quilt. The soft scent of the candles put both of their minds at ease. They wouldn't be disturbed. Nothing could reach them here. The only sound that could be heard was their own breathing. It was rhythmic, the only thing breaking it was a sigh ever so often. Never very loud, never for very long. They were too involved with each other for it to be broken for very long. The blankets on the bed came up to about their waists. Any further would cause them to become overheated, as they found out earlier. They were just warm enough to be comfortable. Positioned so that the taller boy's knees rested on either side of the bed beside the smaller boy's legs, leaned over his chest, they were at peace. Their lips locked, hands flat against the bed above the smaller boy's shoulders and clasped together, they were at peace. Every once in a while there would be a gust of wind outside, leaving a cool sensation in its wake. Although not physically cold, the boys felt the smooth sound resonate in both of their bodies. They relished it. Neither one of them was very good at this yet, lips moving together awkwardly, noses bumping, but neither one of them minded. As long as they were together, they would never mind. As long as they were this in love, they would never mind. The bed was made for one person, but this didn't stop them. With each small movement there was a creak in the wood frame. They hardly noticed. Every few minutes the boys broke apart and rested their foreheads together, regulating their breathing. They would get so caught up in each other that they'd even forget to breathe. It wasn't rare for them. When you love a person this deeply, your own needs become secondary. A tiny but beaming smile creeped onto the smaller boy's face. He adored feeling this wanted. A rush of blood to his face caused it to become a deep shade of pink as the other boy kissed him softly again. The taller boy would be hard-pressed to find someone luckier than him in that moment. He cherished seeing his lover so happy. They didn't like to be separated for long. The wind became louder, but fell on deaf ears. The boys were absorbed. Their fingers laced, heads tilted, nerves firing. They were ablaze. Either one of them would tell you that they were the ones lighting the room, not the candles, nor the streetlights. As a unit, the boys were brighter than the sun. Neither wanted to admit that they were becoming exhausted. It was early into the morning, far past the hours they were used to being awake. How long had they been burning? An hour? Two? Three? They'd lost track. It didn't matter. They decided when the wax had all melted, and the brightness had left the room, they would stop. They would sleep when it was dark. Despite this, they both silently knew that as long as they were together, there would never be darkness. They would burn forever if given the chance. And when the candles went out, the room was dark. The only sound that could be heard was their own breathing. A sigh could be heard ever so often, never long enough to break the rhythm. They were too involved with each other for it to be broken for too long...

a little rant about shipping discourse stuff!! under the cut
i believe eddie is definitely queercoded, and maybe had a crush on richie sure. and they had moments where they were touchy and had nicknames for each other. then we had the death scene where he died in his arms and richie “knew very well” and all that jazz! just because we have this doesn’t mean it invalidates any other ship.
if we wanted to use book “evidence”, we can talk about that whole paragraph where richie describes bill’s back muscles for bichie? or i mean eddie said he would die for bill, we can interpret that as romantic? richie paying for ben’s movie ticket?
honestly we need no proof or book context or evidence to support why ppl ship who they ship.
in 2017 when the fandom was big poppin i was so tired of seeing reddie on my dash and also felt mike was being left out of stuff, to the point where i started to write hanzier hcs (before they even had a ship name!) just despite them lmao and requested hcs and fics from ppl, and they would say “oh interesting i never thought of this ship before :)” or things like that ya know. it’s like super big now everyone loves it yay!!
it also bothers me that of course stan loved party a lot, married her, and even wanted to have children! but i mean he could be bi? his het relationship doesn’t change his sexuality? or if that’s not a hc of yours, it could be any other character. beverly? bill?
also in 2017 there was lots of ace mike hcs (i have no problem with anyone being ace!!!) it just rubbed me the wrong way because i felt just because he stayed in derry and dedicated his life to working on finding out more about pennywise etc. didn’t mean he didn’t have a sexual appetite? he just had other stuff going on i mean he could like women or men idc
i believe there are reasons why any ship could work. maybe mike and ben bond over reading?? bev and richie are such good friends their relationship could blossom into something else? whatever the case could be! whatever you believe in!
reddie is not like a higher standard just cause there’s book context, come on. standard reddie fic: richie climbs through eddie’s window, giving him an asthma attack. they kiss and then he calls him eds. imagine how many fanfics the fandom had if some of these ppl stopped being so boring

10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 :)
Thank you Di!!
10. Is there a fandom you read fic from but don't write in?
Mmm the Marvel fandom, sometimes I read Stucky fics, but I've never written for that fandom!
20. Any ships which you surprised yourself by liking?
Hanzier!! I don't remember how or when I started shipping them, but there's just something about them that makes me so happy! Mike is so sweet and gentle, but he knows how to be silly with Richie and match all his jokes and his flirting.
30. What inspires you to write?
Already answered!
40. What do you struggle the most with in your writing?
Already answered! But to give you a different answer- coming up with titles. You know first hand how much I struggle with that!
50. How did you get into reading and/or writing fanfiction?
Reading fanfic for me goes way back, since my HP/Narnia days. I guess when I finished reading the books/watching the movies I wasn't ready to let go of the characters, so I started looking for more stories with them! It became habit later
As for writing, it started with giving the characters a different ending! In my first fic, a Narnia fic I wrote, I just wanted all the Pevensies to come back to Narnia one more time and well, with reddie is obvious why I would want them to have a different ending lol. Once I discovered AUs and fanfic tropes I knew there was no turning back!
Send me some fanfiction questions!

Catagory A: #2. Next Door Neighbors and #30 for catagory B; Hanzier?
Next Door Neighbors + Suddenly Flustered Because of a Particular Outfit from this prompt list
Richie Tozier had twig arms; this was just a fact. You don’t grow into a beanpole and not have the appendages to match. Richie had accepted long ago that he was just going to be a lanky, kinda awkward looking guy. He’d made peace with it, especially when he realized that girls kinda have a thing for guys over six feet.
However, what he couldn’t accept was that he was no longer able to pick up his 5 year old cousin, who’s favorite place to be was alongside Richie. The last time he’d visited her, he’d tried to lift her up into the air to play airplane, and had nearly dropped her in the process. He decided in that moment that he’d start working out.
Which brought him to the present day, trudging down the hall of his apartment building that led to the gym. When he’d applied for the apartment, its gym wasn’t one of the selling points Richie had focused on. Now, however, he was glad he didn’t have to waste money on a gym membership he’d probably forget about in a month.
He pulled the large double doors open to find a seemingly empty room, smaller than he’d expected but still generously packed with equipment. As he entered, he heard the faint sounds of clanking metal and heavy breathing. The only kind of heavy breathing Richie was used to hearing was after sex, or when he had to run to catch a bus and his lungs threatened to give out.
This breathing was calculated though, gruff, if breathing could even be such a thing. Richie followed it to the back of the gym, turning a corner to find himself right next to the man in question.
Surprising to Richie, he actually knew the guy. He was Richie’s next door neighbor, renting the apartment directly to the left of Richie’s. The man had always been a great neighbor; he never played his music too loud, or had late nights where he talked loudly with his friends. He always smiled kindly at Richie when they passed by one another, or gave him a curt nod on the mornings when they were both leaving for work at the same time, bleary eyed and still half asleep.
He looked different this time though, his usual business appropriate attire switched out for gym clothes. He wore a pair of nylon black shorts, tiny enough to show off the curves of his defined thigh muscles. Richie allowed himself a moment to appreciate them before moving higher. On his top he was wearing a low scooping tank top, the arms and neckline of which seemed to be stretched purposefully wide to bring attention to his toned torso and muscled arms, which were lifting barbels bigger than Richie’s head. The view was a dream, and it left Richie more flustered than he’d like to admit.
“Uh... hi?” He heard a deep voice say.
Richie snapped out of his trance, suddenly very aware of how creepy he looked standing in a near-empty gym, staring at the only other guy there.
“Hi! Uh- I’m neighbor, your Richie! I mean, Richie, your neighbor. Unless you want me to be your Richie, in which case, please give me the dignity of trying this again.”
There was a pregnant pause between Richie’s rambles ending and the man reacting, but once he did Richie let out a relieved sigh.
The man’s laughter was warm, unrestrained and all encompassing. It made Richie feel like he might melt into the floor.
“Yeah, I recall that face of yours greeting me on early mornings.” Mike responded.
“Yeah, that’s me! That’s my face!” Richie said excitedly. “I, haven’t actually seen you around the last few months. It seemed like we had almost the same schedule for a while.”
“Yeah,” the man started hesitantly, lowering his barbels to the floor. “Uh, I got fired actually.” He chuckled awkwardly, lifting a hand to the back of his neck and rubbing it.
“Fuck, oh wow I’m so sorry. I have a tendency of putting my foot in my mouth, but it usually doesn’t happen this early in conversation.” Richie tried to apologize, the awkwardness seeping into his own tone.
“No, it’s okay, really. The place I was working wasn’t really my scene anyway. Too many stuffy business men that cringe at the mere mention of liberal politics. Not exactly the ideal place for a gay black man to spend his adult life. Besides, I’ve got a better gig now, I’m DJing part-time at a friend’s club.”
Richie’s eyes lit up. Okay, so this guy was openly gay, confident enough to mention it to a near stranger, and he was a DJ. Richie was swooning so hard he thought he might fall over.
“Wow, shit, I’m going into detail about my job history and I haven’t even officially introduced myself. I’m so sorry- I’m Mike.” Mike extended a hand, a kind smile gracing his lips.
When Richie shook his hand he wasn’t able to miss the stir in his stomach.
“By the way, have I ever thanked you for being such a considerate neighbor? I mean, I’ve lived in a lot of places and there’s usually at least one thing you can find to hate your neighbors for. You’re always so quiet, it’s like I live next to a ghost sometimes.” Richie was scraping the bottom of the barrel for topics to talk about, but now that he had Mike actually conversing with him, he couldn’t let it stop.
“Trust me, I've also had my fair share of terrible neighbors, that’s why I try to not be one. I’m glad to hear I’m doing a good job.” Mike chuckled.
Richie looked down, suddenly rethinking every time he’d ever possibly been loud in his apartment. Was he one of the bad neighbors? Was he part of the fair share?
“Don’t worry, you’re pretty considerate too.” Mike commented, sensing Richie’s panic. “The only time I ever hear you is when you’re playing Cher in the morning, and I can’t even be mad at it because I do believe in life after love.”
Richie’s face faded into embarrassment, only quelled by the smile Mike was giving him.
“And with that mortification, I should probably let you get back to your workout...” Richie gestured towards Mike’s abandoned barbells.
“I’m never bothered by a cute guy interrupting my workout.” Mike responded smoothly.
Richie felt like everything inside him stopped all at once, a stall in the system for only a moment, but long enough to make his heart skip. He sputtered for a response before Mike too over.
“Not to assume you’re into guys, but I’ve got to shoot my shot here. Would you let me take you out sometime?”
Richie malfunction, completely and totally shutting down. Without another word he turned on his feet and fled the room, running the entire 14 flights of stairs to his apartment for fear that if he stopped for even a moment, Mike would be right behind him.
He slammed his apartment door closed, locking it for good measure and sinking to the ground before erupting into a breathless fit of giggles.
Once he calmed down, he allowed himself to think up a plan. Running away after someone asked you out probably didn’t send the best message, but he’d been overwhelmed, okay? Now it was time for damage control... and hopefully time to secure a date.
He paced around his apartment all night, too hyped up from the butterflies of a new crush to notice the hours trickling away. It wasn’t until he heard music filtering through the walls that he looked to the clock on his dresser.
It was 5:45am, and the familiar sound of Cher’s ‘Believe’ was coming from Mike’s apartment.
His excitement grew tenfold as he grabbed the note he’d written at some point during the night, and exited his apartment. He walked the few steps over to Mike’s door and slipped the note underneath, knocking on the wood quickly before sprinting back into his own apartment.
The music stopped along with Richie’s heart, and he waited a few agonizing minutes before his cellphone chirped.
He opened the text from an unknown number, reading it over three times before throwing his phone to his couch and yelling triumphantly, admittedly much too loudly for 6:00am.
After he’d gotten it out of his system he walked back over to the couch, curling up on the cushions and reading the text over and over again until he fell asleep.
Pick you up at 7:00. :)      - Mike

I’m sorry it took longer than expected to get this to you, life got in the way! But I had so much fun writing this, thank you for the prompt.
Read On AO3
Richie and Mike were an anomaly. A peculiar match that shocked everyone as much as it shocked them themselves. They moved as a unit, despite being so vastly different in all other capacities. Their love is what stitched them together, made them immovable, a constant in everyone’s lives.
They’d gotten together at an early age, the pull between them impossible to ignore. While the rest of the Losers were exploring their hearts, Mike and Richie spent their nights curled up together in the fields at Mike’s farm, watching the stars and making wishes on the ones that shot by.
So, it wasn’t a surprise to anyone when they got engaged. Everyone has seen it coming from a mile away. At 25, the pair had been together for nearly 9 years, a decade approaching at light speed to wrap up their adoration for each other in a pretty little bow.
They’d been talking about marriage since they were teenagers, young and naive to the realities of the world outside of high school. They’d thought they could get hitched as soon as they were out of school, settle down in a big house with three dogs, and call it a day. Unfortunately, life had other plans. Finances and secondary education snuck up on them quickly, pulling the wool off their eyes and exposing sensitive nerves to adult life. They adapted, but not without having to make some adjustments to their original plan. A big house became a small off-campus apartment, which they had to share with Stan and Bill just to make rent. Three dogs became one goldfish, which Richie adamantly insisted they name “Spot”. And getting married got put on the back burner, a dream for another time. A time when they weren’t buried in student loans, homework, and minimum wage jobs.
While it wasn’t a surprise to anyone that they got engaged, how they got engaged was a story in itself.
Mike had always been the level-headed part of the twosome, balancing out Richie’s grand imagination and impulsive nature. So, when he decided he wanted to propose, he had to start thinking like his boyfriend. A proposal to Richie couldn’t simply be “level-headed”, it had to match how wild and loud and full of life he was. Mike had mulled over ideas for weeks until he finally admitted he needed to recruit some help, so he went to the only other person who knew Richie as well as he did: Beverly Marsh.
Beverly was, of course, ecstatic to hear that Mike planned on proposing. But she also wasn’t shy to tell him how much his ideas sucked. A walk along the beach, a boat ride, a nature walk; they were all sweet gestures, but they weren’t as memorable as Mike wanted them to be.
Finally, after another week of discreetly texting one another, Beverly and Mike came up with a plan, and a month later he was putting it into action.
It was the 10th of July, the day that Richie had officially asked Mike to be his boyfriend all those years ago. Mike planned a weekend trip for them to visit Derry, catch up with their parents and see how much the town had changed since they’d left. Neither of them had enjoyed living there when they’d been kids but going back had a nostalgic draw that made it seem sentimental. It hadn’t been all bad; long days freckling under the sun at the Quarry, making Eddie squirm as they trudged through the mucky waters of the Barrens, muffled giggles into old books as they tried to hide from Ms. Sally’s shushing at the town’s library. And of course, it’s where they met each other. Where they fell in love.
They’d spent the earlier part of the day at the Tozier residence, visiting with Maggie and Went over brunch. Now, they were at the tail-end of dinner with the Hanlons. Will and Jessica were clearing the table when Jessica spoke up.
“Do you two have somewhere to stay tonight?”
“We were just going to grab a room at the motel down the road-” Richie began to say, before Jessica interrupted him with her tutting.
“Nonsense! Why spend money when you can stay here?”
Mike and Richie exchanged a bashful look, knowing that staying in Mike’s childhood room together with his parents right next door might not be… ideal.
Will chuckled, as if reading their minds. “We’re going out tonight, won’t be back ‘till tomorrow afternoon. We’re going swing dancing in Old Town! We’ll be staying with your aunt Mary overnight.”
Mike’s tense shoulders relaxed at the news that they’d have the house all to themselves for the night. It would make his plan go that much smoother.
Jessica brought out dessert, which Richie devoured in record time, and then they were heading out, leaving Richie and Mike to their own devices.
As Richie set off to shower, Mike checked his watch for the umpteenth time that evening, watching the time closely to make sure he followed his schedule down to the minute. Richie’s shower made them a smidge late, but Mike schooled his features to hide his worry so Richie wouldn’t suspect anything.
“Heya hot stuff.” Mike greeted Richie as he strolled out of the bathroom with steam billowing behind him. He had one towel loosely thrown around his hips and was ruffling up his hair with another. Mike got up from his perch on his bed and strolled towards Richie, meeting him in the middle of the room. He grabbed Richie by the hips and pulled him in for a soft kiss.
“Mmm, hi.” Richie whispered against Mike’s lips, a smile curling under the attention.
With a second kiss to Richie’s forehead, Mike pulled himself away.
“So, I was thinking maybe we could walk out to the field and do some stargazing, you know, like we used to.” The suggestion was casual, but Mike’s heart was beating fast. His plan depended on Richie saying yes.
“Yeah sure babe.” Richie responded as he pulled a t-shirt over his wet mop of hair and reached for his boxers. “Just let me get a little more appropriately dressed.” He winked before hopping ungracefully as he pulled on his boxers, tripping slightly but recovering with a charming smile.
Mike’s pulse relaxed immediately, his anxiety being replaced with fondness for this goofy, maladjusted boy he was soon going to propose to.
It took a few more minutes before they were off, hands clasped together as they wandered out into the seemingly never-ending field of the Hanlon’s farm. The night was beautiful, the sky completely devoid of clouds and shining bright with the dim light of the stars.
They walked for a few minutes until the house behind them became part of a separate world, and that’s when Richie saw it.
“Michael!” Richie gasped, as he spotted what was in the distance. They were walking towards a patch of grass covered with a large blanket, surrounded by four lit tiki torches.
Mike couldn’t hold back the grin that split across his face, seeing Richie’s excitement got his own going.
Richie let go of Mike’s hand to sprint the rest of the way to the set-up. When he got there, he noticed there was an abundance of pillows as well as two picnic baskets set aside. Laying down was like resting on a bed of clouds, and he instantly felt all the stress of life evaporating away under the stars.
Mike finally caught up and sat down beside Richie. He looked down at him and couldn’t help but reach a hand out and pet the hair back from Richie’s forehead, letting his fingers linger on his cheek.
“Happy 9 years, my love.” He whispered.
Richie’s eyes flicked their attention to Mike, so much adoration and passion present in those blue pearls.
“Happy 9 years, Mikey.” Richie responded, lifting his hand up to Mikes and lacing their fingers together. He swiftly broke the moment by tugging on Mike’s arm and pulling him down on top of him.
Richie laughed as Mike tried not to crush Richie beneath him as he toppled over. He was still giggling as he brought their lips together, his hands already wandering down the front of Mike’s chest.
Mike had to fight to get his mind and body to comply to the plan he had set up. As much as he wanted to get lost in Richie’s arms, he couldn’t. Not yet, at least.
So, ignoring Richie’s complaintive whine, Mike rolled off him and towards the baskets he had set aside.
“I don’t want our food to get cold.” Mike used as an excuse. From the basket he procured a tray of chocolate covered strawberries, as well as two champagne flutes along with non-alcoholic champagne. Neither of them really drank, and besides, he wanted to be as lucid as possible for what was about to happen.
He passed the plate off to Richie who grabbed it eagerly, tearing the saran wrap off unceremoniously and beginning his search for the perfect strawberry. Mike poured them both some champagne, taking the time to check his watch again. Eight minutes until the big moment. He took a deep breath before putting the champagne aside and turning back to Richie.
“I found the best one.” Richie exclaimed happily, holding up the biggest strawberry in the pile. It was coated nearly perfectly in chocolate, save for the green stem Richie was holding it by.
“C’mere.” Richie beckoned, setting the tray beside him and scooting closer to Mike.
Mike complied, snuggling close to Richie and handing him one of the flutes.
Richie brought the strawberry up to Mike’s lips, beginning to trace them slowly with the fruit. Richie’s mouth was set tight, but Mike could tell he was trying to hold back laughter.
“Richie this doesn’t-”
“Shhhh.” Richie used the strawberry to quiet him, pressing it more firmly against his lips.
“Let me seduce you.” Richie said in a low attempt at a sultry voice.
Now Mike was also trying not to laugh, his cheeks pulled up into rosy apples as Richie continued his ministrations. Chocolate was melting against Mike’s mouth, giving him the appearance of wearing lipstick. That’s when Richie finally cracked, pulled his hand back and laughing audibly at the mess on Mike’s face.
Mike laughed along, resisting the urge to wipe his mouth right away. Instead, as he’d expected, Richie leaned in after he’d composed himself, and licked the chocolate clean. He finished by pecking Mike innocently before pulling back and finally properly feeding the strawberry to his poor boyfriend.
They continued like that for the next few minutes, laughing and talking, eating the strawberries faster than they probably should and washing down the sweetness with glorified carbonated juice.
Mike got so caught up in the moment that he almost forgot what he was there for, until the loud boom reminded him.
“Fireworks, really? The 4th of July was six days ago!” Richie complained with no real fever. Richie loved fireworks, loved the bright colors and loud noises, loved getting lost in whatever story his brain decided they were telling.
“Let’s watch.” Mike encouraged, taking Richie’s nearly empty flute from him and setting both of theirs back into the picnic basket.
When Mike turned back around, Richie was already laying on his back, his hands folded eagerly on his stomach as his eyes searched the sky for the next show.
Mike lowered himself down beside him, taking a second to memorize the look on Richie’s face at that exact moment.
Another firework exploded above them, accompanied by a quicker burst of a few more. Mike’s gaze stayed on Richie’s face, his hand reaching into his pocket to finger the little ring box he’d been carrying around all day.
Three more fireworks. Richie’s eyes were lit up both with the reflection of the lights, and with that wonder that Mike fell in love with.
Another one.
Then a succession of smaller ones.
And then...
Richie’s eyes were meeting Mike’s, wide and questioning.
Richie’s mouth gaped, words seeming to fail him for the first time in his life.
Above them, the fireworks were quickly disappearing, the fiery words “Richie, Will You Marry Me?” fading into the night’s sky.
“So?” Mike took a deep breath, rolling over on to his side to fully face Richie. His hand pulled the small box out from its confines and he held it up to Richie, popping it open to reveal a delicate gold band.
“What do you say?” Mike’s voice wavered as he waited for a sigh.
“What the fuck.” Richie blurted out, before he started sobbing.
Mike faltered quickly, letting the ring box drop as he prioritized pulling Richie close to his chest.
“Baby, baby I’m so sorry. Please don’t cry, I’m sorry I-”
A vibration against his chest cut him off. He had to pull away slightly so he could decipher Richie’s words.
“You ruined my plan.” Richie blubbered out again, his tears now juxtaposed by a huge smile that he was trying to disguise as a pout. Mike felt his composure relax. Richie continued without being prompted. “I was going t-to propose next w-weekend.” Richie explained between splutters.
It was Mike’s turn to be speechless now.
“But of course, Mike Hanlon, always the romantic, has to do it on our fucking anniversary.” Richie’s tears were slowing down now, his usual demeanor coming back. “Now I’ll have to see if I can get my deposit back on the horse.”
“Horse…?”
“And I’ll have to call the bakery and cancel the cake order, hopefully the band will be able to find another gig on such short notice, Eddie and Bill are definitely going to have to return their costumes, and-”
“Baby, honey, slow down.” Mike’s gentle hands were cupping Richie’s face, forcing him to meet his gaze.
Richie stopped immediately, closing his eyes and forcing himself to take a deep breath. When his eyes re-opened, they were teary again. “Can I at least say it?”
Mike’s heart felt like it would burst, his love for Richie so palpable in that moment.
“Of course.”
Richie cleared his throat and wiped his eyes as he stood up. He dramatically shook his limbs out one by one, cracking his neck side to side, and then turned back around to face Mike.
“Michael Hanlon. Michael the bicycle. Love of my life. Hopefully one day, bearer of my children. My best friend. My compadre. My-”
“Richie.” Mike cut him off with a laugh.
“Right, right. Sorry. Mike…” Richie got down on one knee, taking Mike’s hand between his own. “Will you marry me?”
Mike’s grin could have rivalled the sun. “Yes. Yesyesyes yes.” Mike rushed out.
“AND THERE WE HAVE IT FOLKS,” Richie let go of Mike’s hand and swiveled on his knees as if to address an invisible audience. He lifted both his hands in triumph. “DERRY’S MOST ELIGIBLE BACHELORS ARE OFFICIALLY OFF THE MARKET FOR GOOD.”
Mike rolled his eyes, wrapping his arms around Richie’s torso and pulling him backwards. Richie came crashing down with an eruption of laughter, mixing along with Mike’s own. Mike didn’t waste any time beginning to pepper kisses down Richie’s neck, using his position to pull Richie flush against his chest.
Things heated up quickly. Kisses became more passionate, clothes were shed, and soon the two were left naked under the stars, the kindness of July keeping them warm and the flickering from the tiki torches lighting their hands’ paths. It wasn’t long before Richie was aching for more.
“Mikey…” Richie canted his hips upwards, ushering Mike’s hand, which was gripped around his cock, to move faster.
“Hold on baby, I’ve got you.” Mike twisted his body around uncomfortably to reach for the second picnic basket he’d packed. He opened it up with his free hand, his busy one never ceasing its job, and grabbed for the bottle of lube he’d packed.
The familiar sound of the cap popping open made Richie’s cock twitch.
“Oh my god, you really think of everything, don’t you.” Richie said excitedly.
“One of us has to.” Mike winked.
Richie spread his legs eagerly before Mike even had the chance to pour lube on to his fingers. The anticipation on Richie’s face egged him to move faster, his own eagerness becoming evident.
As Mike poured out a generous amount of the slick liquid into his hand, Richie grabbed one of the extra pillows and tucked it under his lower back, propping himself up on display. Mike nearly salivated at the view, never quite having gotten used to seeing Richie spread out, no matter how many times they did this.
Mike brought his lubricated hand up to Richie’s hole, circling a finger around the puckered muscle, teasing Richie before slipping his digit inside smoothly.
They’d fooled around only a few hours ago, stopping on the side of the road on their drive to Mike’s farm and squeezing into the back seat. Mike had fucked Richie until he’d cried, fingers desperately grabbing at the seats around him for some kind of leverage to ground himself. Richie came all over his shirt, causing them to have to dig their suitcases out of the trunk and wrestle out a clean one for him to change into.
Richie was still deliciously stretched from their afternoon activities, letting Mike slip in a second finger after only a few moments.
“You’re so beautiful like this, laid out bare for me…” Mike praised Richie who was breathing heavily beneath him.
Richie didn’t answer, just pushed his hips towards Mike to get his fingers as deep as possible. Mike found Richie’s prostate and stroked it lightly, eliciting a gorgeous moan.
“You can be as loud as you want.” Mike said, rubbing Richie’s prostate a little harder. “No one will hear you out here.”
It came out as a promise, assurance that he’d get Richie to the point where he couldn’t stay silent even if he tried. It sent goosebumps down Richie’s body.
A third finger was added, the stretch familiar and gentle. Richie felt warm, both from Mike’s body heat and desire kindling inside. They continued like that for a few more minutes, Mike pumping his hand steadily, teasing Richie’s prostate every time he thrust upwards. It was tantalizing.
“Please, Mikey…” Richie pleaded when it finally got to be too much. Mike pulled his hand away, watching Richie’s hole flutter around nothing. It was so pretty he took a moment to lean down and kiss it. Richie gasped at the unexpected contact, grinding his hips down against Mike’s face. Mike indulged him, kissing it with dirty flicks of his tongue. When he pulled away his face shone with lube.
“I could spend all night eating you out,” Mike stated, grabbing the lube and squirting a little extra into his hand. “but right now, I’d rather do this.” He rubbed the excess lube across his cock, coating it generously before lining himself up with Richie’s hole. He wasted no time before pushing in, shivering as the tightness enveloped him.
“Fuuuuuck-” Richie groaned wantonly.
Mike bottomed out, shifting his gaze from where they were connected and following the planes of Richie’s torso until their eyes met. Richie had his lower lip tucked between his teeth, as if trying to hold himself back, but upon meeting Mike’s gaze he let it drop.
“I can’t wait to be your husband.” Richie said sincerely.
“Me neither.” Mike smile tenderly. “But I am glad I get to show you off as my fiancé for a while.”
They both laughed, the movement jostling Mike inside Richie and reminding them of their current situation.
Mike pulled out slowly before easing himself back in at the same pace. He kept that rhythm as he continued.
“Everyone’s going to be jealous I get to marry the most affectionate, effervescent, passionate man in the whole world.”
“I’m the one who’s lucky,” Richie panted out between slow thrusts. “Getting to marry the most open-minded, kind-hearted, and hottest guy in town.”
Mike let out a burst of laughter, letting his head drop to Richie’s chest as a blush rose to his cheeks.
“I’m farthest from the hottest. That would be-”
“You’re right, it’s definitely Bill.” Richie interrupted with a breathless giggle.
Mike drew his head back and gasped dramatically.
“I was going to say you but…” Mike pretended to contemplate it. “Yeah, Denbrough could get it.”
They shared a smile. Mike loved Richie's ability to make any moment playful, even moments when Mike was buried to the hilt within him. This charismatic man, with the imagination of a child and the whimsy to match.
Mike picked up his pace, spurred on by his adoration, set on making Richie feel as good as he possibly could. The mewls he got in response were encouraging, so he continued swiveling his hips and propelling himself deeper with every thrust.
“That feel good, baby?” Mike purred into Richie’s ear, nipping his earlobe before descending to his neck.
A litany of curses was all Richie could manage in response, feeling himself climbing towards his peak.
Soon, curses were being split up by warning attempts. “Mike- fuckfuckfuck- I’m almost- holy shit yes don’t stop- I’m going to- jesus fucking christ-”
Mike knew that he was hitting the perfect spot. He didn’t dare move, no matter how much his arms were quivering, or his legs threatened to give out. He pumped forward once, twice, three times, and then the empty field was being filled with a throaty scream.
Richie’s fingernails left crescent moons where they dug into Mike’s arms, holding on for his dear life as he felt the waves of pleasure nearly drown him.
The feeling of Richie clenching around his cock did him in. As Mike joined Richie in his climax, he forced himself to keep his eyes open, never wanting to miss a moment of watching Richie come undone. He was so beautiful; pale skin, tinted pink from exertion and nearly transparent under the moonlight, thickly rimmed glasses sitting askew on his face, cum spread across his chest and pooling into his bellybutton. He looked so fragile, so small underneath Mike’s hold. Vulnerable in a way only Mike would ever see him.
Eventually they both regained their composure along with their breath. Mike pulled out of Richie slowly, watching as his own fluid follow him out of the tight confine, leaking onto Richie’s thighs and the pillow below him. Mike wanted to clean it up, dive in with his mouth and get Richie to cum all over again, but he knew there would be time to do that later.
They did, after-all, have forever ahead of them.
