Tower of Terror and Hocus Pocus, please! 😘

In all fairness of this, I haven't added anything to Tower of Terror yet that isn't already posted. Buuuut I am planning on changing things around. The story will still run similar to the film/ride but it's going to have a special twist. Sorry this update is kind of lame, but to make up for it, here's a note about an exchange I planned on having in the story (who knows if I will) so yeah!

Liam jokes about Killian wanting frosted tips and killian groans and Emma’s like “be glad he stopped you” – like killian is all “trust me, it’s going to be a statement! It’ll be really popular soon!” and emma’s like “it’s a statement, that’s right.”

As for Hocus Pocus... Originally was planned as a CS Halloweek 2021 fic but then I started writing it and realized it was going to be a monster of a thing and so now I am hoping to finish it by Halloween 2022? It runs a similar storyline to the film but I definitely change things right off the bat to make it my own! :D Here's a snippet:

Cora stepped forward, following the last of the children to the cabin. “Come now. Dawn approaches fast and we need the moonlight.”

Regina waved her hand and the man at her side began walking again, his steps heavy and his sleeping pants turning brown from the dirt.

“Stop right there, hags!” a voice bellowed from the trees. The three witches turned their heads. Regina readied a fireball in her hand as Cora eyed the tree line.

“Show yourself or begone. You’re not wanted here and you will fear who you come across,” Cora called. Zelena giggled behind her.

A figure stepped out from the dark. An unlit lantern bounced against their leg and they stood straight as they approached. “I’m not afraid of you,” they growled loud enough for the three to hear.

“Oh,” Cora said with a smile. “You should be.” With another snap of her fingers, Cora lit the figure’s lantern. “Oh.”

Killian Jones stood before the women, trees standing on either side of him. He wore his long, black leather duster and a sword hung from his belt, unsheathed as the silver of the blade reflecting the lantern’s light. He blue eyes held an anger that shot pleasure through the women. He would provide entertainment for a moment, until they snapped his neck.

Spooky season is in full swing, so I thought I’d compile a list** of all my CS supernatural/Halloween-esque fics rather than do individual reblogs throughout the month. If you’ve already read them, then maybe it’s time to revisit, and if you haven’t then... Enjoy!

The Legend of Captain Killian Jones - (Complete) CS Halloweek / Modern AU: Cursed three hundred years ago to take on ghost form and haunt his family estate, Killian Jones receives a reprieve once every hundred years to take on corporeal form in order to try and break his curse. A renowned restorationist, Emma Swan takes on the project of bringing the three hundred year old Jones Manor back to its former glory. A manor that is reportedly haunted by the notorious Captain Killian Jones. Good thing Emma doesn’t believe in ghosts. Rated M / ~24k / Two Parts + an outtake

Some Legends are Best Kept as Legends - (Complete) CS AU based on The Legend of Sleepy Hollow: Years after ruthlessly humiliating the man known as Rumple von Stiltskin, Killian Jones faced him once again on the battlefield, though it was clear his foe was no longer an ordinary man. Before succumbing to the fatal injury the Dark One’s blade had inflicted, Killian managed to strike a blow of his own with the being’s own ripple-edged dagger. Now, nearly two hundred and fifty years later, Killian finds himself alive and back in his hometown. However, whatever awoke him from his cursed sleep had also raised the Dark One. With all of Storybrooke at risk, can Killian find a way to stop the Dark One once and for all? Perhaps so. With a little help from Deputy Swan and her boy. Rated T / Six Chapters

Ghost in the Void - CS Ghost!Killian AU: Emma needs to sell her house, and move on. The ghost that resides there doesn’t want her to leave, and therefore sabotages all of the home showings. Emma is not happy with said ghost… who insists he isn’t actually a ghost at all. Rated GA / ~2800 words

A Mutual Craving - CS Vampire!Killian AU: The Underworld was one of the seedier, less reputable establishments, even by black market standards. Every facet of the criminal element could be found here on any given night, engaging in all kinds of illicit activities. From the more mundane transactions, like drugs and conventional weapons, to the really shady and oftentimes dangerous dealing of occult, mystic, and poached items of a supernatural nature. Emma Swan was here for an altogether different reasons, however. She was casing the joint. Too bad all her research and intel had failed to prepare for an unusual security measure she had not planned for. One with pale skin, sharp fangs, and a thirst for blood. Her blood... and her body as well. Rated E / ~10K words

The Craving In Between - CS Vampire!Killian AU for the CSSNS: Emma shivered at the biting wind whipping through the street as she crossed from one alley to the next, the tight, thin dress beneath her jacket doing little to help keep her warm. She’d chosen it earlier that night hoping to impress a certain teaching assistant from one of the classes she and Neal shared. Killian Jones. A doctoral candidate several years her senior, and super hot to boot, Emma couldn’t deny she’d initially started flirting with him just to get under Neal’s skin, but as the semester went on and her overtures were met with equally witty and flirtatious banter, Emma had to admit there was something about Killian Jones that drew her to him.

Emma rolled her eyes, and not some mystical, mumbo jumbo, supernatural bullshit. A scoff left her lungs, hanging before her in a mist of cold sarcasm as she recalled her ex’s words warning that Jones wasn’t human. Shaking her head, Emma thought to herself, “Well, what the hell is he then, Neal?”

Emma was about to find out. Rated M / ~17.5K words

Varcolac: A Hybrid Tale - (Complete) CS Supernatural AU: While heading home to prepare for the coming evening, Killian Jones happens upon a woman broken down on the side of the road. A woman who shifts the entire foundations of his being with just her scent. Killian Jones is a werewolf you see, and the unsuspecting lass has landed herself deep in werewolf country on the cusp of the first night of the full moon. Knowing he must get her on her way for her own safety, Killian offers to fix her vehicle, but things go awry in town when another wolf attempts to stake a claim on the stunning stranger. Now Killian must do all he can to protect the woman, Emma Swan, from a vengeful pack, all while keeping his true nature a secret from her. Turns out, Killian Jones is no ordinary werewolf. Rated M / Five Parts + addt’l scene

That’s what the apothecary had told him. The witch in the woods. A designation that brought forth images of an old crone, hump-backed and wrinkled with warts on her nose and long spindling fingers whose knuckles were gnarled and stiff - not the blonde goddess currently grinding an assortment of herbs with her mortar and pestle, her brilliant jade eyes sparkling in the candlelight that was also casting a honeyed glow over her smooth, creamy skin. ~1K words

Crimson Crystal and Mating Stones - CS A/B/O: Once a year, unclaimed omegas of age were brought before unmated Alphas in the hopes mate bonds would form, thus furthering the species. Unclaimed omegas were carted from village to village until either their mate bond emerged or they were declared defective and released to fend for themselves. This was the fifth and final village Emma had been brought to, and she was about to face the fourth and final rotation of alphas.Just one more round and then, with any luck, she’d be free. Rated E / ~3600 words

The Cottage - (Complete) CS Fantasy AU: Everyone knew of the dark creatures that were rumored to lurk in the forest, the mystical elements that cast a foreboding veil over every cluster of trees, every sweeping branch and quivering leaf. The forest was quiet in the way fear was quiet. A silence one felt in their bones as it thundered in their ears from the pounding of their heart. To Emma Swan though, the quiet of the forest wasn’t that of fear, but of tranquility. She felt no foreboding in the way the trees swayed, even on windless days, or the shrouds of fog that collected along its floor. Emma was fascinated by the forest, always had been, but had never set foot across its border. She had enough prejudice against her from the village as it was, and the pull of the pines and sweet berries she could make out from the boundary line wasn’t enough to warrant more consternation from her neighbors. The cottage on the edge of the tree line was, though. Rated M / Sixteen Chapters + Epilogue

Seal the Deal - (Complete) Enchanted Forest/Dark Hook AU: Desperate for a cure for her ailing father, Emma seeks to make a deal with the one entity in possession of the magic that could save him. Never in her wildest dreams did she imagine the price the Dark One would set. Her first born child. With no husband and no prospects, Emma agrees, believing she'll never have to make good. Oh, how wrong she is… Rated E / Six Chapters

A Light Worth Living For - (Complete) Dark Hook AU: When Hook first became the Dark One, villagers would show up at all hours on any given day to plead their case of woe to him. Tired of inconvenient interruptions, he arranged three days each season when peasants could come from far and wide to throw themselves on his mercy, though they had to know he possessed no such virtue. It was all about the deal. Never would he have imagined that when the descendant of his old nemesis came before him with a great sum owed, an offer would turn into a betrayal that would, in turn, become the greatest deal any Dark One could have ever made. Conviction - (Complete) CS 1800s Prison AU: The story had been front page news for months. Scandalous details of a married woman of low birth and with limited means, murdering her husband; hatcheting him to death in order to save her own life and that of her unborn child - or so she claimed. No evidence to support her allegations of abuse had been presented during the trial, but in the end, it was the fact that Mrs. Cassidy was with child that saved her from a verdict of murder in the first degree, a judgment that carried the death penalty for both men and women alike. As an act of mercy, a lesser charge was issued, one that spared her life but now made her Misthaven Penitentiary’s problem to contend with, and more specifically, the Captain of the Guard charged with keeping order within its walls. Dark Hook Comes to Storybrooke - (Complete) Season 1 Canon Divergence co-written with @winterbaby89: Moments before the Evil Queen’s Dark Curse whisks our beloved fairytale characters to Storybrooke, Captain Hook finally gets his revenge on the Crocodile. Twenty-eight years later, Killian Jones awakes in Storybrooke expecting just another ordinary day, that is until a number of abnormal occurrences disrupts his otherwise scheduled life. The greatest of which is a new face in town. A young woman by the name of Emma. Emma. What a lovely name… Rated M / Twenty-Nine Chapters

May the Lord Open - (Complete) CS Dystopian AU inspired my The Handmaid’s Tale: Emma Swan, renamed Ofarthur when she was assigned to the Pendragon household as their Handmaid four months prior, is approached by her mistress, Mrs. Pendragon to take part in a scheme the woman hopes will produce her the child her husband cannot. During her encounter with family’s loyal Guardian, Emma gets more than she bargained for… in more ways than one. Rated E / Five Chapters

We Make Our Own Fate - (Complete) CS Post-apocalyptic AU inspired by the film What Still Remains: Emma Swan had been born on the cusp of the event that had changed mankind forever. A pestilence. A sickness that stripped away the humanity of those infected, those changed; abandoning the rest of the population to try and survive, not only the disease, but the crumbling of society itself. Nearly twenty-one years later, Emma finds herself at a crossroads - accept the opportunity presented to her by the handsome stranger she happened upon one fateful morning, or remain at the only home she’s ever known, alone. What Lies Beneath the Mask - (Complete) CS AU inspired by The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Man in the Iron Mask, and The Whipping Boy: Killian has never seen his face. At least, not that he has memory of. Rescued by his adoptive father, Lord Rumple Gold, when he was a mere four years old, Killian has always been told that his heartless mother abandoned him on the steps of Misthaven Cathedral because of his monstrous deformity. A deformity that must be hidden away behind a mask. He is forced to suffer a life of abuse as Lord Gold’s son’s whipping boy until he comes of age at 18. Misthaven Bishop, Nemo, offers him a place as groundskeeper at the cathedral where for the past six years, Killian has longed for a life among the people of Misthaven. In a moment of bravery he chances being a part of the crowds during the annual Feast of Fools celebration and meets a woman who is able to see past his mask to the man underneath. With her help, perhaps Killian can begin to discover what lies beneath the mask. Rated M / Eight Chapters + addt’l scene

Name: Lavi! As of 12/5, I’m no longer going by my real name (see this post)

Fandoms: so many 😂 check my bio, I think I have them all listed. I’ve posted fic for Hamilton and ATLA, and then there was a huge Inktober compilation I posted last year with a whole host of fandoms. Currently, my major fandom is ATLA, and probably Kipo as I’m starting to move through S1

Where you post: I have an AO3 (lavi0123)! I used to have an FFN and a Wattpad, but I don’t use either of those anymore :/ tbh, I’m embarrassed of anything I still have up there 😂

Most popular one-shot: Most definitely we’ll give the world to you (and you’ll blow us all away), one of my contributions to Maiko Week! I’m not surprised it’s an ATLA fic, but I find it interesting that a fic with Izumi in it blew up so quickly. But hey, if y’all want more Izumi content, you won’t be disappointed 😉

Most popular multi-chapter fic: ...I’m really embarrassed to say because I don’t think I’ll ever finish it...but En Hamilton Heights is the only multichap fic I’ve published so it’s gotta be that one 😂 hopefully soon I’ll have another fic to add to that, since I’m working on one (sorry EHH fans but it’s been too long and tbh I don’t remember where I was going with it :/ I’m thinking I might orphan it)

Favorite story you’ve written so far: you think this world is a dream come true (but you’re wrong) for sure! It’s super niche but it’s something I wrote out of love for a movie I discovered this Halloween and absolutely love. Though all you’ve got to do is want something (and then let yourself have it) is a close second. Basically, anything I write that sounds absolutely bonkers as a concept is one that I love 😂 (and it’s no coincidence that both fics are Mai-centric! I love all my Mai-centric fics nearly equally)

Fic you were nervous to post: Is there an “all of the above” option? 😂 I’m always nervous to post. But in particular, I was nervous for if you ran away (come back home), because it was Mai-centric and longer than any one-shot I’d written thus far, and also you think this world is a dream come true (but you’re wrong), because it’s Mai-centric and a Coraline AU, which makes it BONKERS as an idea

Why was I nervous to post Mai-centric fics, you ask? Two reasons: 1) Mai is very different from who I am as a person (I vibe a lot more with Aang and Ty Lee, sometimes Katara and Sokka), so I didn’t want to upset the Mai stans by writing her incorrectly. 2) Mai is generally not well-liked in the fandom at large, so I especially didn’t want to attract antis who would accuse me of writing Mai as too emotional and loving (which is why I tried to justify that in my tags). Luckily, my comments have all been lovely, and I’m far less afraid to post fics about her now that I’ve written three fics with her as the focus! And the shoutout from @nonbinary-crafter-aang praising my portrayal of her?? I was touched 🥺 still am

How you choose your titles: Song lyrics or movie/book lines that speak to me, occasionally a pun. Remember that post I rb’d about how authors title their works? My tags pretty much say it all 😂

Do you outline: Ehh...define outlining 😂 for my one-shots, nope. But for my upcoming multichap works (see below) and Nanowrimo work (original fiction, so I won’t talk about it on here, but send an ask if you’re curious), YES ABSOLUTELY!

For my Nanowrimo work and one of my upcoming AUs (a Soulmate AU), the worldbuilding is so complex that it’s an absolute necessity. For the other upcoming AU (a time travel AU), there are just too many things that need to happen at certain times so as not to interfere with canon events, and things I want to change from canon and things I want to keep...I think you get the idea 😂

Complete: Basically my entire maiko halloweek series! Check it out if you want some fics about the most underrated canon ATLA couple :)

In-progress: ...En Hamilton Heights again...but not for long, sadly. Still trying to decide between a quick conclusion and just flat-out orphaning it. Still haven’t made up my mind, but either way, it won’t be what I originally planned, unfortunately.

I’m also counting my ATLA Soulmate AU on the basis of forever in my mind (only you), which has the worldbuilding and fits into the AU without much problem (the AU is going to be a series of one-shots, not a multichap fic, because there won’t be enough deviations from canon imo to justify multiple chapters. And one-shots are just less pressure for me 😂)

[EDIT 12/12/2020: added another fic because I’m an idiot and forgot about this too 🤦‍♀️😂 it’s a year-old idea that I started writing but I’m picking it back up thanks to the Heist banter in MatPat’s St Jude stream!]

-A fic series combining Escape the Night and Who Killed Markiplier (Heist and Date are part of it too, but only tangentially at the moment. Depends on how involved I want DA Y/N to be). Tentatively titled A Heavy Cost, and definitely won’t happen in any of Mark’s projects, but in a way that’s actually for the best 😂 the canonicity for me stops at ETN S3 (with some S4), then it’s canon divergence

Coming soon/not yet started: OOOH YESSS HERE WE GO

Okay okay sooo we’ve got two main things:

–An ATLA Soulmate AU, featuring platonic and romantic soulmates! I know I called it in-progress, and I stand by that even though I haven’t actually set up the series on AO3 yet, but this AU is about to be SO MUCH MORE than just a few Maiko moments. Because...drum roll...it’s gonna be entirely Aang-centric (with maybe one or two exceptions)! Like Mai, Aang is a character that doesn’t get as many -centric fics as he should (and being an Aang stan also isn’t unanimous for some reason??), so I’m gonna fix that. Plus I want to dive further into his mind, and I think I’m more equipped to do that than I was with Mai, since Aang and I are very similar in attitude.

–Bumizumi time travel AU, which can be read as platonic until the last couple chapters (it’ll be multichap) but definitely has a romantic agenda throughout. So just. Be warned if you don’t ship them. It’s gonna be chock full of comedy and antics! Also A LOT of platonic affection between Izumi and teen Zuko (and just between Izumi, Bumi, and the Gaang in general), because platonic affection is underrated and also I can :D I’m also probably gonna make fun of how some elements of affection have become solely romantic territory, because...um, no, hugging and holding hands and cuddling can be done between friends, thanks! (Maybe it’s the ace in me talking. But regardless)

There are also vague concepts I’m spitballing, like:

-Zukaang telepathy AU (Platonic Zukaang, the only romance I’ll ever write in ATLA is for the canon ships, prompted by a dream because apparently ATLA lives in my head rent-free forever now 😂)

-Evil Zuko AU (Azula doesn’t exist, mostly prompted after watching Aang make fun of Zhao and realizing that if Zuko had been in any position of power during the War...the Gaang would have stood no chance at all)

-Bumizumi Arranged Marriage AU (Bumi and Izumi both think the other is hotheaded/reckless (Izumi @ Bumi) or uptight (Bumi @ Izumi). So Kataang and Maiko (along with Sukka, Ty Lee, and Toph because...duh) set them up in an arranged marriage, with the presented reasoning being that they already know each other’s families, it’ll be a great symbol of unity, and this way Izumi doesn’t have to worry about suitors. They both agree to it (it’s arranged, not forced), and over time, they warm up to each other...and maybe even...fall in love?? Prompted because we need more arranged marriage fics! On that note, I’m gonna plug shadows and steel by @dearestpartnerofgreatness because arranged marriage needs more rep and this fic does it and with Maiko to boot!)

-Zukaang as Brothers AU (I saw a fic about this, but it wasn’t complete. If it’s not done by the time I get to this concept, I’m gonna write it, because just...imagine the possibilities! Zuko and Aang are already basically brothers in canon anyway, this is just making them brothers in blood as well as in their hearts. This is especially vague because I have no concept of how this is gonna work 🤷‍♀️ I’ll get to it eventually)

(Can you tell I’m obsessed with Zuko and Aang’s friendship? Because I am!)

[EDIT 11/25/2020: I’m adding two more because I forgot these have been swirling around in my head too 😂]

-A fix-it fic based on May You Always Be Satisfied, a backstory fic for Who Killed Markiplier by @blackaquokat! I recently reread it and remembered that I was gonna write a fix-it for that fic. Not because the fic sucks, it’s actually amazing! I’m just a sucker for the main (requited unrequited) pairing, and there’s at least five ways to make that pairing canon and avoid the mess of Who Killed Markiplier. And THEY ALL DESERVE TO BE HAPPY OKAY

-A Finnrey fix-it for the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy (this one is especially vague, and I probably won’t write it since a bunch of these already exist, but it’s fun to think about. Maybe if I ever run out of WIPs 🤷‍♀️)

Upcoming story that you’re most excited to write: I’m equally excited for the Soulmate AU and the Bumizumi Time Travel AU! I’m also excited for my Nanowrimo work to be finished, but that’s more so in-progress than upcoming

Neca has just announced some new Halloween II (1981) joining their line of retro-styled collectible figures in 2020, including Michael Myers and, even more exciting, a two-pack featuring Dr. Loomis and Laurie Strode.

These eight-inch figures will be part of Neca’s “clothed action figure” retro line.

Based on his appearance in the classic 1981 sequel, Michael Myers comes complete with a knife, scalpel, syringe, hammer, as well as an alternate hand and bloody tears head, all highly detailed and fully poseable with multiple points of articulation and a tailored coveralls costume. It will come in clamshell packaging with brand new art by Jason Edmiston.

The Laurie and Loomis figures come with pistols and an interchangeable hand (with lighter), and are highly detailed and fully poseable, featuring the authorized likenesses of Donald Pleasence and Jamie Lee Curtis. This is the first time an officially licensed Laurie Strode figure from the original Halloween continuity has ever been released, and only the second officially licensed Loomis figure ever produced.

The two-pack also comes with a pumpkin accessory depicting the opening credits skull-jackolantern from Halloween II., and will arrive in window box packaging that recreates the look of Haddonfield Memorial Hospital.

The new figures are scheduled for release in May 2020. And we are expected an updated release date on Neca’s Halloween III: Season of the Witch trick or treat figures this quarter too.

Now for Prompt Examples + Explanations

I’ve had people ask for prompt examples in past events I’ve hosted and this event is open to any language, so here you go! These are the quick brainstorming notes (now expanded with links & definitions) I took while narrowing down the list to be sure the final prompts were unique enough / without toooo much overlap, and covered enough areas. Only some of maaaany interpretations—go wild!

Your host is a fic-writer with ADHD, so…you’ve been warned.

Day 1:

Pumpkin Spice: Cozy Autumn vibes. Putting up Halloween decorations, carving Jack-o-lanterns, coffee / tea shop, pumpkin patch, scented candles, baking, fall sangria, sweaters and beanies and flannels, momijigari (Autumn Hanami 🌸, basically) / admiring gorgeous fall foliage, fresh hot apple cider in an orchard. Itoshi Bros and their love of turtle/mock-neck sweaters. Pumpkin Farmer Aiku and Karasu scarecrow!

Do you believe in magic?: Revealing their magical powers for the first time. Crystal ball, tarot. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc. AU. Non-literal magic in relationships (feeling understood, chemistry, humor matching up perfectly, etc). Wands, spells, magical objects, magical creatures, etc.. Making a wish. Alexis "The Magician" Ness.

Day 2:

Masks: Costumes, super heroes, putting up a front, acting like something you’re not, classic masked Halloween meet-cute, secret / concealed identities, spies, ninja and samurai and assassins (Karasu and Otoyaaa!) Niko hiding his eyes / face.

Heartbeat: Racing heart from excitement, fright, romance, spice. No heartbeat like undead, zombie or vampire, etc.. Skip a beat, beat faster, beat slower (calm and comfort). Chigiri on the run from zombies, zombie Lorenzo!

Day 3:

Things that go bump in the night: unexplained (scary or otherwise) noises in the night, whispers or voices, ghosts and other supernatural entities, haunted house / place, anything scary, …spicy. Spooky Owl outside Rin’s window.

Festival: String lights illuminating festival stalls, costumes, traditional attire (Aryu looking stylish!), food and drink, games, Isagi devouring fried fair food. Fall Music festival. Mid-Autumn Festival (with all the pretty lanterns and mooncakes 🥮), Harvest / Fall Fests in general. Bobbing for apples, caramel / candy apples, carnival rides and games, Ferris wheel. Oktoberfest; Kaiser and/or any Bastard München player in Lederhosen—please, I’m begging!! Fun house / haunted house. Day of the Dead festivities.

Day 4:

Firelight: Cauldrons, brewing potions. Candles, rituals, bonfires. Autumn camping trip, s’mores, spooky firelight shadows outside the tent, got lost on a hiking trip & have to make a fire to keep warm! Torches, candles, lanterns lighting the way in a definitely not-haunted place. Hell, your favorite circle (Dante’s Inferno) 😈

Dark Waters: merpeople, sirens, sea monsters, kraken, pirates (Kurona and Raichi, Bachira 🐬!), sharks, shipwreck, ghost ships, stranded on a deserted island, haunted lakes, lake spirits, Autumn fishing trip, swamp monsters, bogs and marshes, willowisps, alligators, snakes. Loch Ness Monster

(Fire and water, light and dark)

Day 5:

Paranoia: Fear and suspicion, feeling like someone’s watching and you just can’t shake it (...Ego and his cameras), feeling like you’re losing your mind, etc.. Doesn’t have to be all bad! Maybe there was a misunderstanding before a fun surprise.

The Witching hour: Wiki / dictionary. Depending on whom you ask, the hour is either midnight or 3am - 4am. Supernatural entities / practitioners of dark arts are the most active and powerful. These entities might feel compelled / drawn out into the world. Magic and danger, inexplicable happenings! Humans ought to be at home and safely tucked in bed at this late hour, or else... Fun fact, the Orionid meteor shower peaks juuust before this event starts (in my hemisphere, at least) but continue until November, and the best time to view meteor showers is generally around the witching hour (after midnight / 3-4am). Can also mean the time in which people get up to no good or questionable stuff.

Day 6:

Monster’s Ball: Monsters, creatures. Bachiraaa. Halloween party, masquerade, nightlife (going out in costume—or not—to bars and clubs). Reo buying a round. Literal ⚽ ball (Lil Isagi trick-or-treating in Noa’s kit), Halloween Practice (like in high school or college when your coach let you have a fun practice in costume before a holiday—absolute chaos and so fun!). Whatever chaos and debauchery y’all can imagine. Just follow the event guidelines and tag accordingly! Green eyed monster (jealousy), Cinderella’s Ball (Sae and Shidou!)

Hunter’s Moon: The date of the actual full Hunter’s Moon—lucky us! Sometimes called the Blood Moon. Full moon, werewolves, moonlight, on the hunt or being hunted, spells and rituals, Tsukimi / moon viewing + Tsukimi dango 🎑, moon myths and gods. Celestial things, Kurona and Isagi planetary hotline / astronauts, aliens.

Day 7:

Angels and Demons: Demon and priest, hell, listening to the angel or the devil on your shoulder (making a questionable decision because it’s tempting), devilish fun or spells, sin, temptation, a deal with the devil. Ohhh, Sae and Shidou, your night has come! 😈

Castle: fairytales, knights, vampires, dungeons, Royalty (King Barou, Emperor Kaiser!). Also super Sae and Shidou.

Day 8:

Spirit: ghosts, haunted houses, GhostBusters, spirit entities like yokai, Ghost Adventures. Gagamaru as a friendly Yokai! Shaman. Possession, possessed or cursed objects. JJK. Ouija board game! Monk Igaguri.

Movie Night: Watching a scary (or not scary) movie, series, anime, etc. So many movie/show Alternate Universes. Sendou living his Hollywood dreams. Barbie please!!! Nagi nodding off halfway through. The guys as a character from their favorite movie listed in the Egoist Bible.

Mischief Night: Wiki page. The night before Halloween for hijinks, pranks, scaring each other! Toilet papering Ego’s house. Can be more sinister, too.

Day 9: Halloween!

Sweet tooth / sucker: Trick-or-Treating, candy corn, so much candy, caramel corn, vampires or anything with fangs, bite, ‘sucker’ like 🍭 or vampires, or…

Free day / AU (alternate universe) Palooza!:

Whatever Halloween stuff you want that doesn’t quite fit a prompt! Just listing some of the things I would draw (if I could) or write (if i had time):

Video game au for Hiori! Pokemon! Ego as a gangly cowboy, ⚽️ bolo tie and all. Barou as the "Cowardly" Lion in the Wizard of Oz. And finally, artists, if you're reading this, please, please consider Noel Noa (of the 🇫🇷 French National 🥖 Team!!) dressed as Bonjour Man from Life Lessons with Uramichi Onii-san (clip, manga cap). Please Omg. This image has literally been haunting me since starting this event and the manga/anime (even the dub!) is soooo funny. And technically, Bonjour Man is a cursed spirit sooo 👻

Returning for it's THIRD year in a row!

Hermione's Haven Halloweek 2019!

During the last week of October, we'll again be hosting special daily themes based around Halloween and Fall. #HHHalloweek will take place from the 25th-31st and you'll be able to share your creations on here as well as tumblr!

You can create fanart, picsets, gifsets, moodboards, aesthetics, stories, and fanfiction dedicated to Hermione and your favorite Hermione ships (crossovers included). I'm sharing this early in case you want to create your works ahead of time and share when the event begins.

Themes will be as follows:

25th: Fun & Festive (Autumn, Harvest, etc.)

26th: Dark & Dreary (Drama, Angst, etc.)

27th: Tales & Tombs (Twisted Fairytales, Death, etc.)

28th: Spirits & Sprites (Ghosts, Goblins, etc.)

29th: Wolves & Witches (Weres, Vamps, etc.)

30th: Mysteries & Marvels (Thriller, Obscure, etc.)

31st: Tricks & Treats (Playful, Candy, Fun, etc.)

I've begun creating the new album pics for the Facebook group and will update the album there closer to the event. Week 9/10

I knew that’d I would slip up eventually and have to combine weeks, so here we are. Halloweek honestly was insane, and I’m impressed all of us survived. So much has happened since I last typed down my thoughts, and I’m not even sure where to begin.

I think before flying across the globe that I thought I had my life together. Or perhaps, I was in denial, because being here for almost three months now, has made me certain that I definitely do not have it together. Life moves so fast here, and I’m the type of person to keep changing in my normal environment at home, trying to stay a few steps ahead of the world around me.

Intrinsically, I value change. It’s why I love travel so much. I love the fact that every day is something new. For me, every week can be entirely new, and even over the summer during my internship I managed to make my somewhat structured schedule (queue 9-5 by Dolly Parton) exciting and different.

Here, this takes on a whole new life. I’m juggling it all: social life, school, my mental and physical health, and somehow separate from it all, just getting enough sleep. It’s hard being somewhere with an expiration date, as I feel like I have to do everything, or else I’m wasting this amazing opportunity that has been granted to me.

Yes, everything happens for a reason (this affirmation is the one thing holding me together as this point lol), but I can’t help but wonder how much influence I have over everything. I feel I might’ve begun to underestimate myself.

But moving past my existential rambling—I’ll update you all on what I’ve been up to. Of course, Halloween happened! First there was Halloweekend, which involved exploring Itaewon. The streets were filled with people in their costumes!!

We started the night at an all you can drink party with rnb music playing (so good)! They had a weird game where you had to either play blackjack or a pikachu video game to get something other than a vodka tonic or beer—I suck at both but games but nice guys gave me their tokens for free lol Later, my friend was able to get us into a place called Boombar for free and we ran into Megan Bowen, a famous Youtuber. I was dancing and missed actually getting a picture but such is life.

Then, there was actual Halloween. It was low key one of the craziest nights I’ve had in Seoul. I lost my phone temporarily, and went on a “Hangover”-esqe adventure tracking it down. I don’t even know how many miles I walked and I honestly don’t even think I want to know. Thankfully someone took it to the police station!

I wound up getting home at 7, only to leave at 1 to go to the bus station. My friend, Grace, and I just messaged practically every host on Couchsurfers in South Korea, and wound up getting a response from an American English teacher in Gwangju.

Gwangju was definitely interesting! It has the strange quality of a small town vibe in arguably a large city (around 1 million people I think). We really relaxed (even napped in a park), walked around the city, and ate plenty of food. For example: we went to a vegetarian buffet run by monks, ate duck stew, and had tteokgalbi (basically a Korean hamburger).

We ended our trip Sunday, with a visit to the Boseong Green tea hills. It was such a beautiful place, and it’s a place that I thought about visiting since my early days here in Korea. Now back to life in Seoul!!
