Attractive things that aren’t physical:
Not littering, cleaning up after yourself
Honestly it is so nice to see people who put in that extra effort to keep the place clean.
Wherever it might be, just don’t litter.
Keep it clean and tidy

Wei Wuxian: I'm barely even passable right now. I'm shocked Lan Zhan even likes me.
Jiang Cheng: Me too.
Wei Wuxian: Me too what?
Jiang Cheng: I'm just saying you're right. I'm on your side.
Wei Wuxian: You think I'm disgusting?
Jiang Cheng: What?

Out of all of Wei Wuxian's traits, one of the ones that fascinates me the most is how incredibly casual and chummy he is with corpses. All the other cultivators are a bit desensitized to the dead by nature of their profession, yes, but Wei Wuxian in particular treats the dead very much the same as he treats living people, and I think it's simultaneously one of his best and most concerning attributes.
On the good side, the way Wei Wuxian treats the dead is absolutely an extension of his overall goodness and empathy. He stands on the side of those that are looked down on, and nobody faces more discrimination that the dead. He treats the dead like people because they are people, and they deserve to have their voices heard. That's what Empathy's for, and that's why he revives Wen Ning to stand as witness to his own murder. Wen Ning is not a thing! And even when Wei Wuxian is raising armies of dead Wens to fight on his behalf, we get illustrations of him giving a helping hand to a weak old corpse that can't stand on its own.
Wei Wuxian is painted in very deliberate contrast to Xue Yang, who treats the dead as tools and deprives them of agency. His closeness with them is a symbol of his kindness.
However, beyond treating the dead decently and like people, there is a point where his chumminess with them starts to get unsettling, and that's the point where it becomes a reflection of his loneliness and trauma. In particular, I'm thinking of his cuddliness with the ghosts he uses to torture Wen Chao and the corpse girls he's hanging out with when he invites Lan Zhan to drink with him. Because treating the dead with respect is a very different thing from having a corpse lay in your lap as you stroke its hair. And fierce corpses by definition do not have personalities (with Wen Ning as the exception that proves the rule), so treating them as companions to socialize with is rather concerning behavior.
So why is he like this? Isolation and trauma!
It's easy to understate the trauma of Wei Wuxian's three months in the Burial Mound, especially given that we don't see them play out but do get details about so many other horrible moments. But those three months? They Fucked Him Up. In particular, beyond the trauma of the near death experience (or presumably many many near death experiences in a row), he spent the better part of three months without seeing a single other living human. People are not meant to do that.
So what is a person gonna do when he spends three months in Worse Solitary Confinement? And when that solitude is spent on Fierce Corpse Mountain? He's gonna get really weird about corpses. He's gonna turn into the kind of man that would let a murderous ghost he's controlling lay in his lap as he strokes her hair, because for an extended period of time, that is the closest thing to human contact he's had access to.
And later, post-sunshot-campaign, Wei Wuxian does regain access to living humans and society, but he's still incredibly isolated. Just about everyone besides his siblings and Lan Zhan hates and/or is scared of him by the time we hit the scene of him and the fierce corpse girls throwing flowers, so it's no wonder he's hanging out with dead people. He already picked up the habit of replacing company with corpses once, so of course he doesn't see anything wrong with it. Maybe they're there as bodyguards, maybe he's just extremely lonely and doesn't have any human companions to drink with him, or maybe (probably) it's a mix of both. But in any case, it's a pretty clear expression of a horrifying degree of both past and present isolation.
That's why, though he doesn't lose his respect for the dead or his desensitization to touching corpses, we never see him just Hanging Out With Mindless Ghosts in his second life. It's a substitute for real companionship, not a healthy behavior, but lack of company is no longer an issue he has after being resurrected.
He doesn't need an entourage of corpse girls, because this time, when he wants company, he's always got Lan Zhan.

I prayed three decades of the rosary for the first time in like six months and just... I don't know what to say but I'm glad I did it lol.
I find rosaries so hard to pray, but boy are they rewarding when I get it right. How about you?
woohoo!! that's so awesome to hear, Lofty! it takes a surprisingly large amount of effort to just sit down and pray a repetitive prayer like that, so kudos to you for muscling through it!
i'm fortunate to have grown up in a family where we pray a daily Rosary. since i still live with my parents, it's pretty easy to just continue the tradition when everyone else is doing it.
however, in the times when i've lived on my own, like in college or on vacations, it's just SO HARD. i struggle with feeling connected to God AND have ADHD, so the idea of sitting down for 15 minutes to fight against distractions and focus on someone whose presence i don't feel is difficult, to say the least. but once i do it (or at least pray one decade) it's nice to think that i've gotten a little closer to God, even if i don't feel it :')

Today, I want to honor everything about myself. I want to cherish this day I'm being given, another day of luxuriant opportunity. I am deeply grateful for this day and this life. May this day be filled with bliss and peace. May I come across all the waves of life with acceptance, ease and grace. May this beautiful day bring connection and light and may the dark moments of this day be bearable. For we carry within us all the seeds, And we get to choose each day which of them to water and which to cultivate. So may this new day be full of ways to bloom.🌻✨

Had an internship interview today. I told the interviewer my hobby was reading, so she asked me what the last book I read was.
...Being as thick-faced as Wei Wuxian, I answered that I last read Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation and said it was a Chinese novel translated into English.

It is poor work to read the Bible from mere curiosity, and for speculative purposes, in order to fill your head and store your mind with opinions, while you do not allow the book to influence your heart and life. That Bible is read best which is practiced most.

nothing is foolproof, but I try to notice recurring tells that art has been stolen/reposted. like: artists often leave captions. their OPs often have a coherent tagging system, e.g. "my stuff" "from the sketchpad" "a whales original" (whereas blogs that primarily repost content tend to just use vague and popular tags like "funny" "memes" "science"). Bios might include that they're an artist and their blogs have other art with recurring styles and content. The more notes it has the more likely someone has replied grumbling about giving due credit. Of course if i'm really not sure I'll run it thru a reverse image search (Pinterest my beloathéd), but there are little signs that get me there. what other patterns are ppl seeing? with increased traffic + ppl importing different norms from reddit, i wouldn't be surprised if there's a shift

Listening to our body is an art and a skill, you have to unlearn the habit of just listening to the mind. Cultivate the habit of practicing presence, focus on our breathing and ask ourselves "how am I feeling at the moment?" It's such a tremendous thing.🍀

i'm watching the untamed w a friend and i like it, and some of the rewriting (in particular the yin iron and making wwx's last cut for jin guangyao) is pretty good, but it really does take away most of wei wuxian's agency in the story? obviously he's the main character and the plot mostly centers around him or whatever but cql REALLY does not want him to make even a Single Bad Decision. demonic cultivator su she is the biggest example of this (let wei wuxian be responsible for jin zixuan's death 2k23) but also in, like, making demonic cultivation an existing branch of cultivation instead of wwx inventing it and completely getting rid of the members of the wen remnants who were able-bodied cultivators.
in the books wwx is literally losing his mind to the point where he definitely goes too far on multiple occasions (and sometimes seems to revel in it), and even though it's a result of the resentment corrupting his temperament it's still a choice wwx is making. present-day novel wwx looks back on his days as the yiling patriarch and admits to himself that he agrees with the people who go around saying "man that patriarch guy really crossed a line here and there." cql!wwx, however, has no need for that because it's like nothing he does comes with its own inherent consequences, which sort of takes away from the message of the book when everything is reduced to a black-and-white, good-is-always-good-and-evil-is-always-evil morality.
tl:dr: let cql!wwx have an actual impact on the story, COWARDS (read: cql writers)
