“Oh dear, why a long face?” Iroh asks as he spots a sour-looking Pakku making his way into the shop.

“Oh, nothing—just the same, old difficult diplomats that refuse to budge on a certain negotiation that could’ve made everyone’s lives so much much easier…” The waterbender dryly responds, sitting at a table while setting down his pack. Iroh chuckles and sets out to prepare some “welcome home” tea.

“My, I see they’ve only gotten more stubborn since I last left.” The firebender says, beaming at the other man’s annoying laugh.

“Oh dear, “stubborn” is a kinder way of putting it,” Pakku air-quoted, “but rather, it’s more like talking to a bunch of toddlers who only throw tantrums while stomping their feet. Agni—I’m sure even toddlers can understand better than whatever those officials have to say.”

“Well, you aren’t wrong on that, love,” Iroh adds on as he watched the teapot while removing the roots from its jars. “Sometimes, the best you can do is attempt to find a way around or through it. Whether it would be letting them choose or negotiate to anything they can agree to—though that’s one too harsh to deal with.”

“Yes—yes I am aware, dear.” Iroh assures, presenting a cup of tea in from of the another man. He the leans over to kiss him on the cheek.

“I’m sure it’ll all better eventually, my love.”
