ironically i love thrifting but ive never thought about using ebay, do you have any tips or keywords you use on it to find deals and shifty stuff/wording to look out for?

honestly I don't find ebay to be shifty for buying stuff! people are scared about using it sometimes and I think it's a little funny lol I guess the tip would be that if you search for an item with vague enough terms, you'll get some SHEIN-esque mass produced clothes muddying the results. and you know it when you see it, because those listings look like shit btw. this type of thing:

like, these are real listings and everything, and you'd get the product, but they are obviously not what you're looking for. you can ignore these, but if you want to filter them out, you can just narrow the search to SPECIFICALLY pre-owned items.

There isn't really any wording to look out for-- the only other thing would just be to make sure the stuff you get can be returned, bc sellers can specify whether or not they'll take the items back!

#aside from that you can search by brand if you're looking specifically for like. modcloth dresses #you can look for that! and obviously it lets you sort by size and color and whatever #people post pics of the clothes on a hanger or laying flat on a bed/table or on a mannequin #or they'll reupload the original product photo from the origin website lol and that's fine too. honestly sometimes prefer that.#people really optimize search terms on there so you can be vague or specific it doesn't really matter #I think pre-op I was looking for button up pajama tops. bc they're soft and have fewer buttons. and I looked exclusively for pre-owned #so they'd be cheap lol #ebay is really strict actually and if an item doesn't show up or there's a hole in a shirt or whatever you aren't left in the lurch #and the sellers really really want good ratings #sergle answers #It's a problem though actually bc I really really really like shopping for clothes. but also. I got no money #there's lots of great stuff ppl put on ebay instead of in a physical thrift store

I never wrote about winning the cosplay contest at STSF (lol wild), but here's the prize certificate:

On the one hand, I (almost didn't enter and) didn't think I was going to win, but on the other hand, they kept talking about a cash prize. And ok, cash prizes have weird legal issues or whatever, but this certificate is bound only to the Creation merch tables, where they sell t-shirts and bags with AI art on them. I asked what I could use it for and the lady said "maybe" I could put it towards a photo op, but it also says no tickets, so that's still up in the air.

That night, Eugene Cordero was hanging out with us at the afterparty (lol hey Rutherford (!!!???) you're super chill) and someone mentioned I'd won the contest/I probably said something about my $500 worthless prize. So he signed it to make it worth "less"

ANYWAY, all this to say

If I can use it towards a photo op (doubtful), and there is a group Voyager cast shot (cause hello expensive and I am, how you say, not formally employed), I think it'd be hilarious to do Threshold mutant Tom Paris

It seems highly doubtful, but it's a thought that at least keeps me quite amused

#still undecided if partially transformed or fully #either way #in my mind it is the height of hilarity #but I high key doubt they'll let me put it towards a photo op #if not I'm just gonna have actors keep signing it at creation events #I am amused at the prospect #like confused and less than thrilled at the prize lets be honest #cause I don't want $500 of AI art shirts when they can't even pay an artist #and the ones that don't sell are probably going to the Atacama desert anyway #I probably could've used $500 actual dollar bucks #especially when the guy on stage keeps repeating cash prize #going to actually make the other cosplay post but this thought occurred to me #also maybe need to learn to keep my mouth shut cause was vocally criticizing the prize in earshot of creation employees lolol #there's the autism #cosplay updates #like I didn't do it for the prize I genuinely had a great time making and wearing the costume and just cosplaying in general #and I liked being on stage (lol I love public speaking) but the prize was like... ok #meanwhile my ex getting married and people in my life being full adults with responsibilities and I'm over here like #I'm unemployed and played dress up for a niche nerd ref from 30 years ago and now I have $500 I can't really use anywhere #melts into oblivion #every day is threshold day

Okay, it's been a couple of months since I posted cosplay related stuff, soooo here goes.

I decided I want to try and make the wavemother's robe for Shadowheart since the Daisy dress is barely in the game upon release and I couldn't find the fabric for it anyway.

But ahhhh I got the perfect thing for the sea dress sleeves thingy!!! 🙀

Well, I've actually got the fabric, got the coral thingies for harness and whatever the heck they are on the hips, got a pretty decent option for the trim... got the grey-ish blond wig and dyed a ponytail to match since this one comes with a perfect parting and color, but the seller didn't have extentions to match it and I loved dying the wig for Merrin so just why not.

Also printed the hair accessory and parts for astral prison (well actually I first printed it just slashed in half but that way it's too small and it was missing the decorative frame so I just redid it, also reprinted the tiara piece with hooks and slightly enlarged because I could't get the chain to stick to my costest one even with hot glue).

SO now I just need to get myself to try and sew, paint and assemble everything... which is where I generally get stuck at because I can't make patterns for the life of me lmao. Like I'm good at photography, at video editing, somewhat know my way around wig styling, starting to get the hang of 3D modelling and printing with easy stuff or getting and editing game meshes into somewhat decent state for printing... but making patterns is what I nope out of. I've got no spatial thinking. I failed miserably at both geometry and drawing at school. xD

Got some vials for potions as well as they're the easiest props to finish and don't require much printing (like it will probably be hard to fail at getting it to look like an invisibility potion or a drow poison vial).

So in general, even though it might seem like I'm doing nothing cosplay related lately, I've been doing quite a bunch of stuff (for Merrin, too, so hopefully once life and health mine too now included stop messing things up it will come to... something. xD

Reaaaally not enjoying these pits of body dysmorphia I find myself falling into often lmaoo one minute I'm like "I'm above beauty standards. It doesn't bother me at all, my body is ever-changing and it's stupid to subscribe these arbitrary expectations" to "hnnnng my face is too round literally everything else would be Fine if my face was slimmer, I need to work out Immediately and eat less cause if I don't I will Explode oh my god I'm so ugly"

Pasta! I'm so happy you got to meet charlie!!!! We need a play by play of every interaction!!!! I'm going to meet him in a month and I'm so excited and scared haha

I wrote some play-by-plays and posted about our interactions so those are up now! And I can honestly say he is, without a doubt, the kindest, warmest, and most wonderful actor or celeb I've met. I was so, so nervous to meet him as @wonderlandmind4 can confirm. He's my favorite actor, who played what became my favorite character ever, and whose work quite literally changed the course of my life (since his portrayal of DD led to TRT which has snowballed into this massive thing, on top of how seeing Matt's struggle helped me process a lot of heavy stuff I struggled with). On top of that, I wanted to ask him to hold the red thread for our photo and I wasn't entirely sure he'd be down for that, AND I wanted to mention at the autograph how much his portrayal of Matt had helped me. And my anxiety levels were off the charts.

But he made it so, so easy to talk to him, to ask him to hold the thread or do other fun things for photo ops, and to interact with him. I've never seen anyone at events like this engage as easily, as happily, and as warmly as he does. He wants to talk with you, and hear what you have to say. He's genuinely happy to see you and sign things and for you to show him cool DD things (@intricate-melody got to show him her stunning DD tattoo and he signed her arm!). He cares about what you have to say, and his big smile when you come up to him is so kind that you just feel like this weight is off your shoulders, because he's so happy you're there, and that just... makes you feel more confident. Because when someone's happy to see you, so happy they get those little crinkles around their eyes, well, it's a lot easier to talk to them.

So from someone who was CRAZY nervous about meeting Charlie, I can tell you - you're going to have an absolutely AMAZING time meeting him. ❤️

#charlie cox #seriously i've met my share of celebs at photo ops and autograph tables #and he is absolutely the easiest person to meet #as well as the kindest and happiest #he was so so kind and i don't know anyone there who had a bad experience #a friend i didn't know was there spotted me talking to him from four lines away and could tell he was listening #really intently to what i was saying #he is LITERALLY just as nice as he seems #you'll do great! i hope that helps your nerves cause like #i swore i'd clam up with my nerves but he's just so friendly and warm and it's kinda impossible #to NOT want to talk to him and he makes it easy and relaxed #although i will say the first time you make direct eye contact with those warm happy gorgeous eyes #your brain will need to briefly reboot because holy shit #10/10 the most gorgeous eyes i've ever seen and even prettier in person

I saw this comment from @lolaused2run in the post about the photo op where Jared and Jensen recreate the barn scene (I refuse to reblog it because I don't want those pictures in my blog tbh). But the point is that lolaused2run is absolutely right! Why people don't ask Jensen and Misha to recreate the moment Dean and Cas finally meet again in Heaven? I know we don't have that scene in the show, but we know it happened. We have creative freedom to recreate that moment, and one of the ways is to mirror the barn scene from the finale, but as a happy moment and not a tragic one.

So we should ask Jensen and Misha in photo ops to recreate Dean and Cas meeting doing this:

To lean on each other and forehead touch.

To put their hands on each other's chest.

BUT the differences would be:

To look into each other's eyes

And smile!

So te bibro tragic scene would be converted into a destiel happy scene!

I'm not going to any con but I know people in tumblr who have been and or are planning to go so why not to try it? I think we should spread this idea.

If you don't mind I'm tagging some cockles/destiel blogs I follow, just in case you want to spread this idea (and if you don't, it's ok! But I really believe this is a valid alternative to these disgusting finale barn scene photo ops)

as nov 5 draws closer btw i feel the need to remind everyone that i a) do have a special reserved November 5th Shirt that i will wear again this year and b) i bought said shirt at a comic-con where i met the only supernatural actor you can trust (the fuckin car)

I'm a teeny bit manic in the smile, but honestly how can you be touching this man in the flesh and not be a little insane at the time?? Chill? I don't know her.

Pssst, how's Indie's Red Magic training going? Is it hard r easy for her? Has she ever used any kind of magic before?

I do like Red Mage but I’m not very good at it XD. Let’s just say Indie has zero experience using magic and it takes a little getting used to. She’s trying.

She’s definitely more confident with melee dps classes so if she gets in a scrape, she’s more likely to Monk her way out of it than try to figure out spells.

She does put on her caster hat for some of the more straightforward quests, just to keep up the practice but I imagine the trials of Stormblood won’t give her much opportunity. She is definitely planning on kicking Zenos’ ass in a literal sense.

I don’t want to disappoint X’rhun though so we’ll keep trying. And I love the aesthetic!

original plan for saturday was to go on a trip with some of my family to the slovakian carpathias but i also got invited last minute to a techno held at a rural manor, and i decided to go with the latter. i could say "we are so back" but im not sure that was the right deceison
