Violinist Juvia Lockser! 🎻
Earlier, I’ve been thinking about an AU where a kid Meredy tried hooking up her uncle Gray, with a violinist Juvia after watching her show. Also, I wanted to try a semi-realism art style so here you go! Ending 2023 with this art!

Gruvia/Fullbuster Family Headcanons YAAY!!
1. They’re daughter’s name is Juvina because Gray’s conversation with Juvina was the first time he admitted his feelings for Juvia out loud. The name is their repayment, plus Greige’s name starts with a G like Gray’s, it would only make sense for their daughter’s name to start with a J like Juvia.
2. Greige is a mama’s boy. Similar to Juvia, Greige is afraid of being left alone so he will often grab on to the bottom of Juvia’s dress when he’s feeling lonely.
3. Juvina (their daughter) is a Tsundere like Gray and prefers to be independent from her siblings and parents. Gray tries to baby her around but she doesn’t let him.
4. The kids have a habit of being overdressed and often gets creeped out by their parents stripping habits.
5. Greige is a water demon slayer (the fandom talks about this one a lot) and Juvina is a regular ice wizard who wants to learn arc of time thanks to Aunt Ultear, but Gray warns her not to dig to deep into it because of the consequences.
Those are my random Gruvia/Fullbuster family headcanons!

If Fairy Tail was in the modern world and the characters were regular teenagers part 2.
It’s Friday night and Juvia is eagerly putting on her make up before leaving for her date. While Lucy is there helping her get ready.
Juvia: I can’t believe Gray actually asked me out.
Lucy: I can! I knew he’d get around to asking you eventually. Which reminds me, Natsu owes me twenty bucks.
Juvia: How do I look?
Lucy: Like you’re not trying and that’s exactly how you need to look.
Juvia: I do? But I am trying.
Lucy: But you can’t let him know that. He has basically been ignoring you since middle school and now that we’re seniors and he’s asked you out, you can’t just fall into his arms.
Juvia: I can’t?
Lucy: Absolutely not. If guy thinks you’re easy, he will never appreciate you. You have to show him, that while you are interested, you aren’t just going to do whatever he wants.
Juvia: What if I want to do whatever he wants?
Lucy: Trust me, no girl wants to do whatever a guy wants all the time. You think I want to watch Natsu scarf down an entire buffet and then spend the whole night listening to him barf in a bush? In relationships both parties have to give and you better make sure Gray knows that.
Juvia: Okay.
Lucy: So where are you going for your date?
Juvia: Drive in movie.
Lucy: What are you seeing?
Juvia: Well I wanted to see something romantic but I know guys hate chick-flicks, unless they’re Freed, so I compromised that we see that new war movie about the solider and the nurse who travel across the world to get back to each other. It’s a love story but it’s also about honor and courage and mind-less violence. Something for both of us.
Lucy: Nice! And your brother is okay with this right?
Juvia: Yes. Last week we had a talk about boundaries. About how he’s not going to treat me like a little kid anymore, how he’s going to stop hovering over me, and how he’s going to give me privacy.
Ironically, Gajeel is downstairs listening to their conversation through the air vents.
Levy: Gajeel stop eavesdropping! We’re going to be late for your gig! Also that’s very creepy.
Gajeel: I’m sorry babe, but Juvia is going on her first date and I just want to make sure that she’ll be coming straight home tonight.
Levy: Will you relax? It’s just a drive in movie. Remember when you took me to one? We had such a wonderful time.
Gajeel: (Smiles at the memory) Yeah we did. The starry night, the way you’d cling to me each time someone got butchered on screen. I’d hold you to keep you safe, we’d kiss, it would get really warm and then we’d….
Gajeel suddenly becomes panic stricken and runs upstairs.

Gray bit the inside of his cheek, trying not to make it obvious as he glared across the classroom. His eyes focused on Juvia, who sat way in the front...right next to Natsu.
How the teacher didn't see either of them passing notes back and forth, he had no idea. His lip twitched every time he watched their fingers brush against the other, the pen in his hand surely about to crack in half.
That idiot never liked to pay attention in class, worse now that Lucy was stuck in a different class. Last year all that slanty-eyed idiot did was flash a dopey smile at her, distracting them both from their lectures.
While the rest of their friends were across the hall, he was stuck watching his worst nightmare unfold. Juvia shouldn't give that idiot the time of day.
"Quit bothering Juvia."
"Who said I was bothering her?" Natsu threw a sideways glance as he bit into his yakisoba sandwich. Gajeel scooted back in his seat, keeping himself out of the path of Gray's glare.
"You're distracting her in class; I'd say that's bothering her." He huffed, clicking his tongue under his breath.
"She's the one who passed me a note first," The pink-haired student rolled his eyes. "If you're so bent, just tell her you like her already. I'm allowed to talk to my friend if I feel like it."
Gray squished a riceball in his fist, fuming as Natsu went on to enjoy his lunch without worry. Of course trying to talk sense into an idiot wouldn't work.

This request is from 2021.......I-I don't even know what to say.
I do hope that you like this. I love exploring Juvia's mind and feelings in these <3
we are switching povs like changing lanes in this one lol.

--
He was officially out of breath. His lungs were screaming and while it wasn't the longest battle he had ever encountered, it was still a contender for one of the hardest.
How did she even do that? Lock him in a chamber of water? He thought for a second that she would kill him. She easily could have and he assumed that she might have. There was a flicker of something in her eye when she released him and he wasn't sure if he should be thankful or not.
Usually you don't stay and talk with the enemy. Usually one of you is dead or you walk away. Not this time. Instead of running or hurting her further, he had saved her. She slipped off of the rooftop and for some reason, he couldn't let her die. It wasn't in his moral code to kill someone and even thought this guild was trying to do that to his members, he didn't think it was her idea. He knew what it was like to be a pawn in someones game.
Her dark blue hair that was once curled perfectly into big ringlets had now started to loosen. She looked paler when she first showed up on the roof but now? Now she looked more human. She seemed like something just happened and he couldn't place it. He was always a mess after a good fight but she sat perfectly still and looked...rejuvenated.
"So what now?" Gray asked.
He thought she was like a deer. Her eyes were wide when he spoke and her head turned sharply towards him. It was as if no one had ever spoken to her before.
"What do you mean?" She questioned.
She felt weird staring at this man. What was weirder was the sky above them. A beautiful cyan that she had never seen before. She almost started to cry but held those tears back. She had just gotten the sky, she would not let it darken.
"Where are you going to go after this?"
The question confused her. She was a Phantom Lord member. She was S Class wizard in the most frighting guild. Where else would she go besides there? Deep down, she didn't want to return. She had failed to kill a member but how could she? Somehow kindness leaked from his pores even as he was trapped in her spell. She wouldn't remove that light from the world. She couldn't.
She wanted to say that she was going back home where she belonged. Did she belong? Did she really want to return to a place that didn't care about her well being. They cared that she was strong. They cared that her magic could frighten anyone. But thats all she was. A weapon of destruction.
She looked out towards the fields. Flowers grew within the sea of green grass. Oh how she wondered how they smelled. The feeling of the soft petals. Its been a long time since she had seen a flower not be drowned by her presence.
While she stared at the field, she thought about what he had said during battle. That he would fight to the death to save a member of Fairy Tail. It hurt her. She knew that no one would do that for her. That if she were to die, not one member would bat an eye. No flowers would be at her grave.
She wasn't even sure if she would have a tombstone.
Juvia Lockser. The one no one knows. The rain woman, she is as forgetful as a raindrop. One hit of the pavement, and then that was it.
Phantom Lord didn't care for funerals. They didn't care for much in general.
She wondered if she was someone else, maybe she would receive flowers on her deathbed. Could she ever live in a world where her death meant something? Could someone ever love her enough to shed tears for her permeant absence?
Where are you going to go from here?
That is what he had asked and he was still waiting for her answer.
The clouds had left and she wanted to stay here forever and gaze at a sight she had missed. Oh how the sun felt against her skin! This is where she wanted to go.
She wanted the sunlight on her forever. She wanted to see the flowers bloom and the snow melt. Those dark clouds had cleared something up in her.
Perhaps maybe, just maybe, she could find a home.
Home.
The word felt foreign in her mind but she liked it. She wanted to be wanted and to be loved and remembered. She didn't need a legacy. She didn't need to be the rain woman. She just wanted to be-
"Juvia?"
Her head snapped to his.
He said her name. It sounded like heaven. The way he said it, it was almost like she had forgotten her own name. She couldn't remember a time that her name sounded genuine from another person. There was so much good surrounding him, she almost couldn't believe it.
"Yes?" Her voice almost cracked.
"I asked where you were going to go after this? You can't possibly think your guild is good?" He said sternly.
He was right. This beautiful stranger was right. He had shown a kindness she had never found before so simply. She wanted that. She wanted to be kind. He had saved her. A man from an enemy guild saw something in her and decided she had a life worth living.
A life she should treasure.
If the sky could be clear and hopefully, then she could be too.
Little did she know, he thought that too. Gray knew she was stronger. Much stronger than she let on. Right now all he saw was a fragile woman. Someone who needed to be healed. He knew what it was like to feel hopeless and lost. He was lucky he found people before the darkness corrupted her. Most would think that she was off in the deep end. Too lost to be saved. Not him.
Even in the height of their battle, he could tell she was a gentle soul. Someone who needed a light to guide them, even if it couldn't be him. He wanted to scream at her and tell her to leave that guild. To have her run into Fairy Tail's arms and to never look back. Maybe she would. Maybe she could find a place that treated her better.
No person should look content falling to their death. There was no fear in her eyes and it almost broke him. It wasn't his place to tell her things, just question if she was alright. He didn't know her, but he knew she needed something better. Somewhere to thrive.
When they weren't fighting, she looked delicate and soft. He wouldn't place her as a dark wizard, not a chance. She was a good person, he could sense it.
"No. Juvia does not believe it is good. Juvia is tired of being seen as a monster. She shall find a new home." She stood and dusted off her coat. She began to walk away. "Thank you Gray. to just for saving Juvia's life, but saving Juvia's future as well."
"Is there a chance I'll see you again? Where will you look for your home?" He didn't want her to leave oddly.
"Hopefully." She smiled. "Just like the rain, Juvia will go where ever the wind blows. Maybe one day she will find her way back to you."
"I wish you the best." He waved at her and watched her walk away until she was nothing but a memory.

Gray: You okay dude? You seem a little on edge. You and Lucy-
Natsu: What about us?
Gray: Have you decided what you’re going to do yet?
Natsu: What’s to decide? We’re just friends. We’re happy. It’s good.
Gray: (Doubtful) Uh-huh.
Natsu: (Frustrated) What? I said it’s fine. Just leave it. Besides, no offense dude, but what would you know about relationships anyway?
Gray: Well actually smart guy I-…(Gets nervous)Eh…
Natsu: Actually what?
Gray struggles to speak.
Natsu: Spill it.
Gray: Juvia and I are dating!
Natsu: (Dramatic gasp)
Gray: For like a couple months now.
Natsu: (Double dramatic gasp)
Gray: We have matching bracelets! (Holds up his wrist which has a ‘His’ bracelet on it)
Natsu: Dude that’s crazy! Why didn’t you tell me?
Gray: We didn’t want to shove our happiness down your throat. Well actually I did, but Juvia asked me not to.

Subtle
Summary: Juvia comes to the conclusion that Gray is much more subtle about his feelings than she is.
Also on FF.net and AO3
______________
“There, there.” Levy rubbed Juvia’s back as he lay with her forehead pressed against the wooden table. “I’m sure he really was just busy this time.”
“Maybe,” Juvia said pathetically, her arms loose at her sides. “He did seem to be in a hurry with Natsu.”
“See, the time will be right for guys one day soon. Maybe even sooner than you think.” Levy grabbed both of Juvia’s shoulders and sat her up straight again. “Just be as patient as you always have been. It’ll pay off one of these days, I just know it.”
“Patience,” Juvia let out a breath. “I’ve been patient about it. I was promised an answer from him a year ago and now look, he’s finished the 100 years quest and came back like nothing new happened.”
Levy gave her an awkward smile and rubbed up and down her arm in comfort. Juvia looked at her with a sad look in her eyes before looking down at her lap.
“Should I just give up? At this point he’d have to be pretending to not know that I’m right here waiting on him doing something,” she fiddled with her fingers, feeling heart broken by her own suggestion of giving up on waiting around for an answer.
“Oh Juvia, no,” Levy said back, tilting her head to get a better look at the water mage’s face. “He made sure you knew he was at least thinking about you, right? The ball is in his court now, and he’s the one who put it there.”
“Maybe,” Juvia said again, which seemed to be her favorite word during the conversation. “I guess my expectations for our reunion were just too high.”
“Hey, it was still super sweet. He even caught you when you jumped at him, that’s a good sign.” Levy was clearly grasping at straws to make her feel better about the whole situation.
Juvia gave her a small smile, and placed a hand over one hers. “Thank you, Levy. You’re too kind.”
“Well, ain’t this romantic,” Cana crashed onto the bench opposite Levy and Juvia’s table. “Never would have guessed, congratulations.”
She laughed out loud as both girls went red and stared at her in shock. Levy placed both hands on her now swollen belly and mumbled under her breath at the remark.
“She’s been dying to come over here and say that,” Lucy said as she approached. “I tried to hold her off, looked like you guys needed a minute.”
“Thanks Lucy,” Juvia smiled at the two girls who had joined them. “I thought you would be on a job today.”
“Nope,” she said and stretched her arms out with a big smile. “Natsu wanted to go fishing today and I didn’t feel like getting that awful salty smell all over my clothes.”
“Yeah, well you should tell him to take more care of his fishing rod,” a voice said from behind them. “He just forced me to make him two extra ones.”
Gray slid into the booth beside Juvia and ran a hand through his hair. Juvia stiffened up and moved to grab Levy’s hand under the table for support. Levy simply smiled and winked at her friend before shifting to stand up.
“I think I’m gonna get some air, crowded booths really get me stuffy these days,” Levy said and rubbed her stomach fondly. “Not for long though.”
The group bid Levy goodbye and continued their mindless chatter. Juvia attempted to keep up but couldn’t help feeling insecure at how Gray joked with Cana Lucy. They were able to make him laugh and bring out his wittiness while he was always so stoic towards Juvia when they talked.
She lifted her arms to rest them on the table and consequently knocked off a candle holder in her way. Without thinking she leaned over to grab it, feeling something soft against her arm on the way down and up again instead of the table's edge. When she was upright again she saw Gray’s hand retracted from the corner where she had just brushed against.
She blushed, deciding in her mind that Levy could’ve been right afterall. He did let her know he was thinking about her, just through his actions and not his words. She just needed to keep being patient.
___________
The door creaked closed behind them as Gray and Juvia walked out of the Guildhall, the evening air brushing against their skin.
“I swear, I’m not even kidding,” he spoke as she laughed at him. “Cana has not let me live that down, I thought everyone did that kind of stuff.”
She covered her mouth and looked up at him, “so, you just assumed she got naked and rubber cards on her body?”
“Well, I wasn’t that naïve, but you never know with Cana,” he mumbled as she giggled at him before linking her arm with his as they walked towards their respective apartments.
“That’s true,” Juvia hummed. “She was joking about Levy and I dating before you joined us earlier. I think Gajeel would have killed all three of us if he heard her.”
“Nah, he wouldn’t touch Levy,” Gray said with confidence. “He would definitely kill Cana though.”
“Plus, you would have to be Juvia’s knight in shining armor and save her from him,” she had hearts in her eyes as she fantasized about Gray sticking up for her openly in the guildhall, dressed as a prince of course.
“Right,” he snorted. “Be honest. Do you know about it? You do, don’t you.”
“Do I know what?” Juvia looked up at him, noting his curious gaze.
“That I like you back.” He said as if it was obvious.
“You what?” Juvia stopped walking and looked up at him with wide eyes and her mouth slightly ajar.
“Well, yeah. I had this whole thing that after the 100 Year Quest was over I was gonna make you mine, no matter what.” He smiled confidently down at her. “I was trying to figure out how to actually catch you in a romantic moment to just tell you how I felt, and I’ve been trying to keep my feelings to myself in the meantime, but we keep ending up like this.”
He referred to their attached arms and his cheeks gained a slight pink colour as he rubbed the back of his neck. He kept looking at her though, not breaking their eye contact. For once, she was the one that looked overwhelmed while she was the one struggling to keep up, even though Gray was being so calm.
“I- I don’t know what to say.” Juvia managed, still staring up at him. “I thought I was never getting an answer out loud.”
“Out loud?” He frowned at her. “What- Of course I was planning to tell you, I promised after all.”
“You did,” she finally took a deep breath and gave him a small smile. “But, you also show me. I mean, protecting me from something as small as a table’s corner speaks volumes, you know.”
“Yeah, I guess I just can’t help it sometimes,” he chuckled and continued to walk again, their arms still linked. “I was hoping to make my confession a little more of a big surprise or something, but it’s just so natural to be close to you, sorry.”
“No, this was perfect,” Juvia sighed and rested her head on his shoulder.
Gray hummed and they continued to walk in a comfortable silence until they reached the start of the path leading to Fairy Hills, where they would usually part.
“Do you mind if I love you?” Gray said in a rush and then shook his head. “I mean, do you mind if I kiss you?”
Juvia giggled as she watched him mentally kick himself for the slip up, but she took it as her perfect opportunity to flirt with him.
“You could always do both,” she took the opportunity to wrap her arms around Gray’s neck and leaned her torso against his, smiling expectantly at him.
“Yeah, I guess I could,” he breathed out as his eyes met hers.
His hands rested on the small of her back as he leaned forward to meet her lips halfway. When their lips finally collided, Juvia completely melted against him and giggled against his lips which disrupted their kiss.
“You good?” Gray asked, teasing her. He had only leaned back a little and was smiling brightly down at her.
“Better than good,” Juvia said before connecting their lips together once again, Gray wasting no time in giving her what she wanted.
Levy was definitely right. Juvia’s patience had definitely paid off.

Chapter IX - Flourish
Juvia’s gaze aimlessly fell to the metal bars that meandered around the edge of the tunnels. The ten-metre fall loomed at her feet, inviting her to take another step. Its gloomy shadows enticed her to swing her legs over, straddling the metal between her thighs until she could no longer feel the ground beneath her.
Jump.
Her eyes would roll backwards as she was brought back into the tunnel. The wind fights against her hair. Her skin burns from the force and she’s taken by the void. Before she could test those thoughts, she is interrupted by the clatter of Erza’s boots.
“If you want to die, do it somewhere else.” The Commander’s scarlet eyes flickered between the drop and Juvia’s staggering figure. “I’m busy as it is already.”
“Why did you pair me with Gajeel?” Erza stopped in her tracks. “All my opponents have been in higher ranks,” Juvia stammered. “I don’t see how that’s fair.” Erza immediately swirls her head to face the drifter.
“I’m always fair,” she hissed. Raising a hand, she slipped a finger down Juvia’s cheek. “I gave you the opportunity to climb the ranks.” Juvia flinched from her nail scraping down her bruised skin. “If you bothered to fight properly, you would’ve rosen the ranks and we wouldn’t be having this conversation right now, would we?” Her breath hammered against Juvia’s face. “You’ve gotten plenty of help already from a certain someone.” Juvia gulped in response. “Does that answer your question?”
Juvia gave her a small nod and moved away uneasily.
“Good,” Erza smiled. She turned her head to leave, allowing her hair to follow her like a blaze. “Oh, I forgot to tell you.” Juvia flinched as she felt her face burn. Erza’s lips adorned an intense red tint as she let a tongue flicker against her upper lip. “Bora is alive.”
Juvia winced as a ringing punctured her ears. “You’ll pay. You’ll pay. You’ll pay” She was once again faced with the disfigured man who taunted her with a playful smile. Its flesh gleamed bright red and patches of skin peeled away, revealing the face of a normal man. His features twisted from blotches of red and reverted back to an ordinary man. Juvia couldn’t help but approach him carefully, started by his transformation. She raised a hand in shock, but was knocked over her feet as a stench tickled her nose, sending a rush of sulphur into her oesophagus. She lurched over to cough. A sting at her shoulder caught her motionless. She convulsed as she found a familiar dagger hanging out from her flesh, sending blood running down her body. Before she could recover her posture, the man twisted his neck to meet her face-to-face.
“Juvia Lockser,” it shrieked, “you’ll pay.”
Juvia screamed as a fist suddenly hammered against the man’s face repeatedly. With every hit, his face distorted into patches of red and black. Before she could stop what was happening, she realised the man was the one that tried to throw her over the edge, and Gray had killed him.
A guttural sound escaped his lips and the man began to whimper, its lipless mouth formed a pool of blood before eventually dissipating away into its rotting body. A puddle of frayed skin and flesh piled into a viscous liquid that slithered into the earth.
Juvia collapsed as her legs gave out. Every moment since she has existed felt like a crime. She buried her head into her hands. An ache grappled at her chest and she let it lave over as she crumbled to the floor. Juvia stared at the reflection of herself on the tiled ground. Before she could take a look, she felt her stomach jab at her skin, as if trying to escape. Her own existence disgusted her. No longer was she able to cry away her pain and troubles. It wasn’t physically possible for her anymore. Dabbing her eyes with the back of her hand, she was surprised to find them dry. She was fearful of how weak she was. A sudden feeling of needing to be strong washed away the unrelenting pain in her shoulder.
»»————- ⚜ ————-««
The trenches were silent. All the other recruits were in bed but Juvia stood at the centre of the training grounds. She formed her hand into a fist and lashed out onto a punching bag. Her bruised arms raised tirelessly, trying to match the speed she was constantly hit with. She felt her blood boil when she let Bora’s elbow slam into her face. Juvia threw out another punch, allowing the bag to sting her knuckles. His grip strangled her until she could no longer think straight. Her feet casted a blow to the rough fabric. A crude smile plastered across his face as he pierced the knife through her shoulder. She sent out an array of jabs, letting her blood race through her body. Her ragged breathing vibrated through her ribs, shaking her lungs rapidly. Her knuckles ached and her stomach clenched from the extraneous motion. Her shoulder was hammered with pain. However, she was too enraged to care. A shrill scream repeatedly encircled her, and she only accelerated her movements, desperate to drown everything out.
A cold hand suddenly enclosed her knuckles. Juvia jerked away in surprise and tumbled backwards. Her waist was enclosed by a strong arm and she found herself staring into Gray’s onyx eyes. A rush of heat flowed through her face as she found her palm pressed to his chiselled chest. He gripped her body against his as he leaned down to inspect her.
“You’ve lost weight.”
Juvia promptly took a step to steady herself, pulling away from him. She patted down her clothes and swept a lock of stray hair behind her ear. “Why should that concern you?” she muttered.
He tousled his hair away from his eyes as they surveyed her cautiously. “You’re right, it doesn’t,” he replied bluntly.
Juvia felt her eyebrow twitch in annoyance. She wasn’t sure what these feelings were but they confused her. She wanted to stay in his arms, but she was too scared to be close. When he tipped his head closer towards her she wanted to entangle her hands in his hair and kiss him. But when he would nonchalantly touch her with an aloof demeanour, she wanted to slap him away.
“You…why are you talking to me?” Juvia unconsciously bit her lip. “I thought I said I didn’t want to see you ever again.”
Gray sighed as he brushed a hand behind his neck. “I don’t know.” His eyes drifted down to Juvia’s feet.
“That’s all you say,” Juvia muttered. “At least you could make up something.” She took a step back when he leaned down on a knee. “Anything.”
“I don’t know how to express myself,” he grumbled. His hands followed her stride and caught the loose shoelace between his fingers. “I’m… not sure why I act like this.” No words left Juvia’s mouth as she swallowed down a sob. She watched in silence as he lowered his head to fix her laces. Her heart pounded vehemently. She pressed a palm to her chest, a pointless attempt at calming it down. His charcoal locks swayed gently with every movement. Juvia suppressed the urge to touch his hair.
He eventually let go and revealed a tight ribbon at the centre of her shoe. “I do know one thing.” Juvia trembled as he rose, allowing his sculpted figure to tower over her. His gaze locked onto Juvia’s quivering eyes. “I don’t want to hurt you.”
Before Juvia could respond, she let out a yelp as he sent a swing at her leg and let her fall backwards. He caught her right as she prepared for a harsh collision.
“You need to be cautious of everyone,” he whispered. She quivered as his breath tickled her ear. “If your opponent is bigger than you, hit them in the diaphragm.” Juvia forgot how to breathe as she felt his grasp tighten around her waist. With a jerk of his arm, Juvia was pulled back upright.
He suddenly yanked her arms away from her sides and pinned them together with a steady grip. “When a man takes advantage of you in a fight,” he muttered, “remember to kick them in between the legs.” Before he could finish his sentence, he swung Juvia’s body around and rammed it against the wall. She screamed in response and her eyes widened as her back collided against Gray’s arm. Juvia struggled against his hold but he did not budge. His other free hand trailed down her hip and latched on her underthigh. Juvia mewled in response but quickly pressed her palm to her mouth in surprise.
“If someone is about to kick you, get closer to them.” He trailed her thigh with a thumb. “They won’t have enough room to land an accurate hit.” Juvia’s arms flailed desperately above her head. She swallowed hard as the sensation of his hand on her thigh started to leave a burning trail. His chest was pressed against hers and his other hand tightened around her hands. With an aggressive tug, Gray wrapped her leg around his waist. “Are you listening?”
Juvia blinked in shock, her lips moving to form words but nothing was uttered. His eyes were steady as he peered down at her. She felt every one of his exhales caress her cheek. With his body encased around her, every feature on his face was captivating. His lips were slightly chapped, but they invited her to lean in closer. The way his eyebrows furrowed together accentuated his charcoal gaze, sending her into a state of frenzy she never knew she had in her body. Even the scar etched on his forehead striked her heart.
Juvia found herself completely infatuated by Gray, the Exterminator who could kill her at any moment.

A gruvia one shot I posted on my Wattpad but I’ll post it here too! :)
Synopsis: Juvia comes home everyday with bruises and markings. What happens when Gray finds out why?
Tumblr media
Fanart: NOT MINE CREDITS TO THE OWNER
——————————
It was late at night, and Gray stood at the door of the water mage's room, while she continued to brush her long wavy blue hair. Her hair was the color of ocean waves gleaming in the sunlight. Gray just stood outside Juvia's door, watching her from the little crack of the door he managed to get without her hearing. Now you might be wondering, was this really Gray? What was he doing stalking the water mage as she continued her nightly routine? Yes, indeed the ice mage was watching the water mage, but not for the reason it seemed.
Juvia had been staying at Gray's house for a few weeks so far, due to Fairy Hill's getting destroyed. You might ask how? Well it was due to non other than the Fairy Tail guilds famous Natsu Dragneel. Let's just say, he asked to borrow Juvia's kitchen for...cooking purposes. Knowing that the water mage wouldn't deny his request, he marched right into the kitchen and ended up burning the whole place down. Everyone was safe and okay but the dorms...not so much.
Erza, Levy, and Wendy decided to stay at Natsu's house, and of course Erza threaten Natsu if he denied their request. While Natsu and Happy now stayed with Lucy. Natsu's house was a pretty small and couldn't fit more than 2 people. They made adjustments for Wendy but it wasn't both enough for Juvia to stay as well. So you guess it, Juvia moved in with Gray.
Gray denied wanting the water mage to stay at his house but Erza wouldn't put up with it.
"You two have shared a place before so I wouldn't think it would be a problem, right?" Erza had told Gray in a threatening voice. Not wanting to get the requip mage riled up, he agreed to it immediately. It was true the water mage and ice mage shared a house before, but it ended up not being something Gray wanted to remember. Remembering it just made him feel even more guilty than he already did.
Gray thought living with Juvia would mean having her cling onto him 24/7, but it actually wasn't too bad. She respected his boundaries, even when he denied sharing a room with her. She would make breakfast for the two of them and they would eat together. After that they walk to the guild together. Gray at first refused to walk together thinking everyone would get the wrong idea, but after a while he didn't mind the company.
Gray watched as the water mage stood up from her desk, she turned the other way revealing a bruise on her arm which made Gray's heart sink at the look of it. The purple discoloration on her pale skin was enough to make a person face the other direction. For the past week Juvia had been coming home with bruises and red markings on her skin. Juvia tried to hide the bruises with her magic but Gray caught her one day when she returned from a mission at night covered in bruises. She reassured him saying it was because she tripped, but Gray could see it was definitely not that, he didn't know what it was.
Gray watched as Juvia noticed the bruise on her arm and winced when touching it. She quickly used her magic to cover it up before heading to bed. Gray slowly turned around and walked away. He walked back to his room and sat on his bed thinking. Not only had Juvia started coming home with bruises but she also had been distant with him. It wasn't like he didn't mind her being less clingy right? But after a while, he started to think of Juvia's antics apart of his daily life. Without her bubbly and cheerful personality circling him 24/7, it felt wrong. Gray shook his head trying to focus.
"Tomorrow." He thought, "I will make her tell me what's going on."
With that, he let sleep overtake him.
—————————
The next morning, Gray woke up hoping to see Juvia before she left. She had been leaving earlier than usual, avoiding to walk with him to the guild. Juvia ended up leaving him breakfast on his counter.
He walked into Juvia's room to find it empty. He groaned annoyed that he missed his shot. It was only 7:00 in the morning, the guild wouldn't usually fill up until 8:00. He wondered why she decided to leave this early. Non the less she did indeed leave breakfast for him on the counter, a note was also placed neatly next to the plate of food. Gray picked it up.
Juvia hopes Gray-sama likes her breakfast she cooked up while Gray-sama was sleeping! If Gray-sama doesn't like it there's cereal in the cabinets. Juvia is sorry for leaving so early but she has some things to do today! She won't arrive back for a while.
~ Juvia <3
Gray chuckled at the note, but also was curious at what she was doing going out so early. It was none of his business so he didn't want to think much of it. Gray placed the note back in its spot and started to eat the food Juvia made for him. He always loved Juvia's cooking so there wouldn't have been a reason for him not to like what she made for him that morning. After he was done, he decided to head to the guild to try and see if he could find Juvia, he couldn't stand not knowing why she had those bruises.
————————
Gray entered the guild at 7:55 to see that most of the guild was already there. He saw Mira giving out orders at the bar while Erza ate her strawberry cake. He continued to look around the guild but couldn't spot the water mage anywhere.
"Dammit...she left already." Gray said to himself, pissed that he got here too late.
"Gray? You ok?" He heard someone say behind him. He turned around to see Lucy with Natsu and Happy next to her.
"I'm fine, sorry for blocking your way." He moved out of the way to let the others in.
"You seemed like you were looking around for someone." Happy exclaimed with raised eyebrows. (AN: DOES HE EVEN HAVE ANY EYEBROWS!?)
"I wasn't looking around for anyone ok?" Gray snapped. Lucy gave him a knowing look.
"Oh by the way, where's Juvia? Shouldn't she be with you?"
"Yeah ain't she always clinging onto you?" "Juvia loves Gray-sama~" OW!" Lucy smacked Natsu on the back of his head indicating for him to be quiet.
"She left early. I don't know where she is now though." Gray bluntly said not wanting to show he was worried about her.
"Juvia? Oh she left on a mission, a day long and far mission." Mira called out from the bar.
"What!? I mean- tch whatever." Gray quickly covered for himself.
"Looks like Ice Princess is worried for his girl! HAHAHAHAHHAHAH-"*thunk* Gray punched Natsu in the chest while glaring at him.
"What did you call me flame brain!?"
"Why did you punch me freezer!?"
The two started battling in the guild and soon enough, it turned out into an all guild brawl.
—————————
"Thank you!"
Juvia thanked the old lady as she left the orphanage. She had left on a job earlier that morning to help out the old lady with her children. The old lady was sweet and deeply cared about the children, Juvia wished that the orphanage she was put in would've been just as amazing.
Juvia clutched the bag of jewels in her hand as she made her way through the village. She felt bad that she left her Gray-sama alone that morning but she needed to get money as they were losing food, having an extra person in the house meant that Gray's food supply would need to double. Juvia knew if she told Gray why she left he would scold her. He already told her that he would take care of the food supply and everything and for her to stay out of it. But Juvia didn't want to be a burden so she decided to leave before he woke up, to avoid any questions.
Juvia was about to reach the train station when a burning sensation came from the back of her neck. She felt herself go pale as her heart dropped to her stomach.
"It's him..." She thought to herself. She felt the marking glow and burn on her neck the closer he got closer to her. She started to quicken her pace hoping to reach the train station so someone could help her, but of course fate had other plans...
And a hand covered her mouth, dragging her to an ally way.
—————————
Gray stood at his front door tapping his foot on the wooden floor. He felt himself grow inpatient as the front door continued to stay closed. It was now pitch black outside and past midnight, Juvia had still not returned home. After a few more minutes Gray sighed.
"Why am I even here? She's fine she can handle herself." Gray reassured himself walking away, only to stop midway and walk right back to where he was standing.
"She's been ignoring me for days though, I have the right to know why, we live together dammit!" He told himself continuing to stand patiently.
He stood there for another hour, drifting off to sleep at times while continuing to stand. He told himself he'll stay here till morning if he had to, he felt too impatient and worried about the water mage, even though he wouldn't admit it to himself. He felt himself jerk his eyes open when he heard the door knob shake. He quickly composed himself, trying to act serious as the door opened revealing the water mage. Juvia stepped into the house closing the door behind her. She dropped the bag of jewels on the ground and quickly tried to use to her magic to cover the bruises before she went upstairs. But she didn't realize Gray was standing in front of the door the whole time...
"Ahem." Gray turned the lights on making the water mage shriek. Gray's eyes widened as he stared at the Juvia in the light. He didn't realize how bad her bruises actually were until he saw her. There were now fresh bruises on her leg and face.
"G-Gray-sama!? Juvia thought Gray-sama would be sleeping by now!" She scrambled to cover the rest of the bruises but Gray's glare stopped her midway.
"What were you doing out this late? And why are you covered in bruises!?" Juvia simply tried to ignore his questions and gave Gray a nervous pat on his shoulder while walking past him.
"Gray-sama should go to bed, he looks exhausted."
"Juvia's sorry you have to worry about her." Juvia tried to keep her tears in as she looked away from Gray. But Gray wasn't playing with her game.
He quickly faced her direction and forcefully grabbed Juvia's wrist, making her gasp.
"Juvia...why are you covered in bruises." He asked in more of a demanding voice than a questioning one. She felt herself tense up, her face paled in the process. She gulped, her body shaking in the process.
"I-I...I-I Can Juvia please go to bed Gray-sama? She doesn't want to talk about it." She pleaded. Gray was pissed already for having to wait for her for hours. He hated how she would say she's okay but it was obvious she wasn't. He tightened his grip on her wrist making her wince.
"Dammit Juvia tell me what's wrong!" He shouted at her.
And then she broke.
She forcefully yanked her wrist out of his grasp. She backed away from Gray and towards the front door with a look a horror in her eyes. But Gray could tell it wasn't towards him, but it seemed like she was remembering something else, something she didn't want to.
"Juvia..." He calmly said trying to go closer to her but she backed away even further.
"No! Don't come closer to Juvia! Stay away! Juvia won't let you hurt her!" She cried running outside.
"Wait Juvia! Where are you-"
"-going...?" Once he exited the door, he saw no sign of the water mage. He scolded himself for acting like a bitch.
"Great way to handle it Fullbuster..." He quickly grabbed his coat and rushed outside, trying to find where Juvia had run off to.
—————————
"Fuck..."
Gray slumped onto the bar of the guild laying his head on the counter. He felt horrible, mentally and physically. He stayed up the rest of the night trying to find Juvia but to no avail. Who knew the water mage was an expert at hide and seek. He didn't know how far she could've even gone, he left minutes after she did so she couldn't have, right?
"Sheesh what's up with you ice freak?" Natsu exclaimed appearing next to Gray.
"You look like a mix sleep deprived and beat up by Erza." Happy snickered.
"Anything wrong Gray? And where's Juvia?" Erza asks appearing with Lucy and Wendy.
"I know I look horrible you flame head, and no nothing's wrong cause Juvia disappearing last night is definitively not serious." Gray sarcastically rolled his eyes.
"WHAT!?" The whole guild screamed.
Erza grabbed Gray by the collar while glaring at him, "Quit the sarcasm and explain Gray."
"Tch will you chill!? I was going to!" Erza put Gray down. He explained what happened last night and in a matter of minutes, the whole guild started glaring at him.
"You did what!?" This time Gajeel grabbed Gray from the collar and glared at him. Juvia was his closest friend and somewhat of a sister to him. If anything ever happened to him, Gajeel knew he wouldn't know what to do.
"Gray you idiot! What were you thinking!? You don't just grab a girl who is obviously not ok and start demanding answers from them!" Lucy swatted Gray in the head.
"That's harsh even for someone as cold as you man." Natsu shook his head.
"You better find her you son of a cold bitch or I'll kill you on the spot." Gajeel threatened making Gray tense.
"Ok I will! I will! You guys are acting like I'm happy about this!"
"I wouldn't be surprised if you were, aren't you always saying how she's annoying the crap outta you? But then some days you act as if you like her too! That's not good Gray you should give her a clear answer." Lucy rolled her eyes at Gray.
"I-I- fine! I get it, it's my mistake. But it's not my fault she's so good at hiding! I looked all over the place. It's like she disappeared from the face of the Earth or got kidnapped."
"You said she was covered in bruises right?" Levy questioned Gray while he nodded, "She could be in trouble guys...we should do something."
"Well fighting about it won't fix it, we need to look harder."
"Agreed, everyone search the whole town."
And that's what they did.
But even after hours, they still couldn't find Juvia.
"Ok I see what you mean now Gray, this girl really is hard to find..." Lucy admitted slumping on to a table in exhaustion. They spent hours looking for Juvia but she was nowhere in Magnolia. They even asked other guilds if they saw her but came up empty.
"Arg, I'm such an idiot..." Gray grabbed a chair in anger wanting to break it to pieces.
"Yeah no shit sherlock."
"You're not helping Natsu!" Lucy said towards her boyfriend in a warning tone.
"Well it's not my fault this ice freak made his girl run away."
"Well this," Gray waved his arms around to indicate the situation. "wouldn't have happened if you didn't burn down Fairy Hills!"
"Wait so this is now my fault!?" Natsu sarcastically chuckled before glaring at his rival. "I wasn't the one acting like an idiotic who can't even get his feelings together!"
"Just because you and Lucy confessed and got together before Juvia and I doesn't mean you're any smarter!" Lucy gaped when she heard Gray say that, he basically confessed his feelings.
"Oh so now he admits his love, well doesn't it seem a bit too late you freezer!?"
"Say again flame head?!"
"Boys boys! Chill out would y'a!? This isn't the time for brawling."
"But he started it!" They said in unison pointing to each other.
"Did not!"
"You did!"
"Stop repeating what I say!"
"You want at it!?" The two rivals started brawling in the middle of the guild while everyone sweatdropped.
Suddenly, the whole guild went silent as the doors opened up, revealing the one person they'd been looking for the whole day.
"Juvia!"
But she wasn't the same...
She looked dead...
Bruises filled her entire body in splotches. Her pale white skin was now barely evident against the red and purple which covers it. Blood looked as if it was seeping out of her eyes, her whole body seemed the shake as it entered the guild. Her hair looked messy and strangled. Her hat and parts of her clothes were ripped and missing. Gray felt his heart sickly drop to his stomach making it twist and twist in circles.
Gray didn't notice, but his feet start to quicken in pace as he pushed his guild members out of the way. All he could think about right there and then was Juvia. Juvia felt her legs give out, her body suddenly felt like a weight she couldn't hold up and she felt herself falling to the floor. But her body didn't impact with the floor. She felt herself fall into someone else's arms, warm, strong arms that made her believe, it was going to be ok.
"There there, I got you..." Gray said softly to Juvia.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I acted like a jerk...I was just worried and I don't even have an excuse to why I acted the way I did, I'm just horrible at this." He chuckled sadly remembering all the horrible things he's done to this girl in the past.
"H-He...d-don't make him hurt Juvia again!" She cried while hugging Gray even tighter. This confused everyone even more.
"Him? What does she mean by that?" Wendy questioned her friends who shrugged. Carla and Happy flew over and gasped when they looked at Juvia's back.
"Uh...Gray...you better see this." Carla said making Gray raise his eyebrows.
"See what-" He got cut off as his breath hitched in his throat.
Right there, on Juvia's back, carved in by a knife, was the words that made his worry for her turn into anger. Without saying he dashed out of the guild, leaving Juvia in the hands of Lucy.
"What the hell Gray!? Why'd he leave all of a sudden- oh my god!" She shrieked when she saw what was written on Juvia's back.
"She's mine now, Fullbuster...?" Natsu read out loud questioning it at the end.
"So I guess Gray was right about her getting kidnapped, but who do this?" Mira asked surprised.
The suddenly heard a growl coming from behind them, and then a shriek of a girl. They saw Gajeel with a crushed up glass bottle in his hand and Levy next to him with wide eyes.
"That bastard, what is he doing messing with Juvia!?" Gajeel marched up right to Juvia.
"Rain women, tell me when this all started!"
"A-A few weeks ago! After Juvia and Gray-sama went on that mission."
"Wait I'm confused, so he knows who did this to Juvia?" Lisanna asked Lucy. She shrugged.
"I guess so, I don't have a clue though."
"That bastard! What is he doing back in town..." Gajeel started crushing tables and chairs in sight.
"Gajeel! You're gonna break the whole guild apart!" Levy started trying to pry his hands off the table.
"I'm confused." Natsu bluntly stated.
"Would you mind explaining? You have us all lost." Mirajane turned to Gajeel.
"I can recognize that sent from miles away, it's Juvia's ex's, Bora."
"Ex!?" Lucy questioned surprised. "I didn't know Juvia dated someone before."
"I remember she told me about that guy when we were partners on Tenrou Island." Lisanna popped in.
"Apparently he only used her to try and get back into Phantom Lord. And then he would start hitting her if she made it rain. After a while he got fed up with the rain and dumped her, saying she was too gloomy and useless." Lisanna explained whole everyone listened closely.
"Well we can't just stand here? We have to go teach that guy a lesson!" Lucy said with triumph. Just then Erza stopped her.
"I think Gray has it handled."
"Titania is right, that ice prick better give that bastard a beating." Gajeel grumbled.
"For now, let's take Juvia to the infirmary."
—————————————
"I was expecting to see you, after what I did to that water cutie of yours." Gray felt himself seething with anger as he found himself face to face with the man who hurt Juvia.
"I told you to leave her alone." Gray said in a threatening voice.
"Hm, really?"
—————————
"You leave her alone got that?" Gray glared at the man as he cackled, turning around to leave.
"Sure I'll leave you alone."
—————————
"I don't recall myself saying I would leave her alone." Bora smirked while twirling Juvia's hat around his finger, knowing he got the slayer good. Gray only felt his anger rise when he saw that Bora had Juvia's hat in possession.
Dammit!
"Stay away from Juvia, and we won't have any problems." Gray felt his devil slayer markings appear as his slayer magic filled his body. He didn't understand, why was he so mad? Why did he feel so enraged.
Was it cause Juvia was his comrade?
Or...
Was it cause she was something more?
He wanted to believe it was the first one...
But deep down, he knew it was the second...
"Now that wouldn't be any fun would it? Besides, it was fun seeing that water cutie's pale body with all those bruises, and don't get me started on those curves, the curves I had so much fun staring at. Maybe I'll go harder on her next time, get deeper in there-."
Gray snapped.
He went ballistic, his face screamed death. All he wanted to do was kill this man. Kill the man for talking like that about a woman, the woman he most cared about. He felt disgusted, how could this man talk about someone so sinisterly? Before he knew it, he have Bora exactly what he deserved.
Gray marched up to a half conscious Bora and grabbed him by the collar, his eyes livid.
"Mess with her again, and I'll give you something even worse than death." With that he snatched the hat and threw Bora against a wall, ensuring he wouldn't wake up any time soon.
————————————
"Where is she?" Gray immediately asked Lucy once he entered the guild.
"Oh you're back! We were about to go on a search mission cause you were gone for so long-."
"Where is she Lucy." Gray demanded.
"She's in infirmary, resting, Wendy healed her wounds and...the scars on her back." Lucy quickly responded as Gray brushed past her.
He entered the infirmary and spotted Wendy by Juvia's bedside. She looked exhausted but who wouldn't? Juvia had been beat up by that bastard for who knows how many weeks. And she came home with just as much wounds.
Wendy spotted Gray and immediately shot up from her spot and bowed sadly.
"I-I healed most of the scars! But some of the wounds I couldn't fully heal so she'll have to rest." Gray patted the girl on the head, telling her it was fine. She quickly marched out of there. Once she was gone, Gray sat beside Juvia. She was unconscious. She was sweating a bit and she had a pained face plastered. Gray grabbed her hand a squeezed it.
"I-I got your hat back." He placed the hat next to the bed, relaxing when her pained expression vanished.
"I took care of him, he won't hurt you anymore."
"I don't know what to say, why didn't you tell me? Did you think I was going to be mad? Of course I was mad at that bastard but I wouldn't have been mad at you."
"Don't you trust me enough to tell me when something's bothering you or when you're in trouble?"
"What am I saying? I've been nothing but a jerk to you since we met. Why would you trust me after everything I did?" Gray put his head in his other hand. Just then, he felt Juvia squeeze his other hand. He looked up to see the water mage smiling back at him.
"Oh Gray, Juvia doesn't not trust you. She just didn't want to burden you with her own problem, she thought she could handle it, but Bora threatened her if she told anyone he would hurt the guild. She just didn't want to put anyone else in danger, but maybe it went a bit too far..." Juvia winced.
"A bit is an understatement." Gray said chuckling sadly.
"Yeah..."
"Juvia...look at me." She looked at him.
"Never think of yourself as a burden to the guild, you're family to us, if you're in trouble we have your back, that's what we stand for." Gray brushed a piece of hair behind her ear and sighed.
"I love you Juvia. I love you so much that it feels scary. I love you so much..." He trailed off.
"But I'm not sure I'm ready." Juvia smiled at Gray, leaning over to give a kiss on his cheek.
"Juvia- no I love you too Gray, and I love you so much that, I trust you to make the right choice. I'll be here for you no matter what, and when you're ready, I'll still be here, waiting, by your side." Gray smiled back.
"Thank you Juvia..."

Gray’s Fantasy of a Happy Family (Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest Spoiler - Chapter 84)
I saw a Twitter post about this scene in An Icy Fantasy and everyone was wondering why Mika wasn’t there. My guess is that this allusion was based on Gray’s memories. He doesn’t remember his real mom which is why she isn’t there, he’s had interactions with everyone in the room at a time where he was old enough to remember.
Aside from the Mika question: THIS SHIT TOOK MY HEART AND SHATTERED IT! Even if he does get to have Juvia and Greige, he’ll never be able to have all the people he holds close to him during his special moments in life. I’m broken, a scene that looked so happy ripped me to shreds. Why must they always pull on my heart strings. I never cry reading things so why now?!? He deserved this so much and the fact that he can never have it is what makes it worse. I LOVE YOU GRAY IDC!!!!🥹💔
Chapter 84 edit I like to watch when I want to cry!

Natsu the terrible cook.
Nasha and Greige approach the bar table for their morning meal and find Natsu getting food out of the fridge.
Greige: Where’s my mom? I need breakfast.
Natsu: She’s out this morning. Emergency mission with your dad. So I’ll be cooking your breakfast.
Nasha: You don’t know how to cook.
Natsu: I’ll barbecue your breakfast.
Greige: I don’t know Uncle Natsu. Happy says you tend to go a little overboard with the grilling part and kids have sensitive stomachs you know. I think we’ll skip breakfast this time.
Nasha: Oh come on Greige, it’s not like it’ll kill us to at least try his cooking.
One hour later…
Nasha and Greige: (In agony) Ohhhh!!!
The two children have terrible tummy aches and are crying while their mothers are holding them, and Gray has Natsu by the shirt collar.
Gray: I’m gonna kill you for this Natsu! You poisoned my son!
Natsu: It was just a little overcooked.
Greige: A little overcooked? I feel like I ate charcoal.
Juvia: (Rocking him) Oh my poor baby.
Natsu: I don’t get it, the food tasted fine to me.
Lucy: You idiot! Of course it tasted fine to you! You eat fire for crying out loud! These children don’t!
Natsu: Well Nasha would if she had gotten more of my genes.
Lucy glares at him. Suddenly the door swings open and in walks Erza wearing a nurse’s outfit and carrying a doctor’s bag.
Erza: Where’s my niece?
Nasha: (Whines) Here Auntie Erza. Daddy made me sick.
Erza: Yes I know he did baby. Your daddy makes everybody sick.
Natsu: Hey!
Erza: But I have just the thing to fix you two up. (Opens her bag)
Lucy: Oh Erza please, nothing rough. These babies have suffered enough.
Erza: Oh no I’d never be rough with my favorite niece and nephew. (She then produces two small cakes from the bag) Some strawberry cake mixed with healing magic oughta do the trick. I invented it myself.
Nasha and Greige: Yay!
