This site is for...

María Antónia García Martín: Spanish migrant woman who went to Cuba where she met her husband, she settled in Garafia, had six children.

Regla María Teresa Vidal Recio was a Dominican loving mother to her 10 children and she took care of two more children from her husband. She had a very special relationship with her daughter María from whom received always beautiful letters and she read them numerous times until she learned them by heart. Her bond to her daughter was really strong they seemed to comunicate by telepathy.

María África Gracia Vidal was a Dominican actress who found fame and fortune in Hollywood. She came from a rural background, was self-thaught about English language and she knew since she was little, that she was born to triumph. She funded her own fan-club, wrote poems and even a song. She was also very loving and protective to her younger sisters and was a very loving mother.

Adita Gracia Vidal was María's younger sister, little is known about her, maybe the was the most shy of all the Gracia Sisters, but she travelled to Hollywood with them to try an artistic carrer as an actress.

Consuelo Gracia Vidal travelled with her sisters to Hollywood and stayed there under María's wing. She acted in one film "Pirates of Monterey" but found English quite difficult and became model. She was the mother of four.

Luz Gracia Vidal was the sweetest of all the Gracia Sisters and when María was away filming, she always took care of her niece Tina. She was married to Jean Roy and had three kids who lost their father in a killing and she took care of them by herself. She never remarried.

Teresa Gracia Vidal was a successful model in her adoptive country, France, as her sisters, she came from a rural area but had a very successful carrer in a foreign country. She settled there and had a daughter, Raïna Paris. Besides of modelling, Teresita tried to succeed in the cinema industry. Today we know she acted in one film "El Andén", filmed in Spain. She was a divorced mum.

Maria Christina Aumont Gracia was María's daughter, she lost her mother when she was just five years old, but she was loved and being cared with her dad, aunties, uncles, cousins... until she was sent away to a schoolboards, then she married at 17 and had a stillborn babygirl when she was 18. Although her personal life wasn't a fairylate, she managed to find happiness for a time and had a very successful carrer as an actress and also a model in Italy, her adoptive country. In 1969 Tina had to have an abortion in secret as it was illegal in France and in 1971 she signed a manifesto (risking jail) in order to decriminalize the right to abortion which until then was illegal in France.

María Montez Gracia Fiallo is named after her Dominican Auntie, as she was born some weeks after her auntie passed away. Just like her cousin Tina, María II lost her dad when she was five, and in her teens she travelled with her mum to Spain, the country of her ancestors, there she had a very successful carrer as a TV actress and performer first, but then she followed a cinema acting carrer and in the Seventies she went to live in a Comunity first in England and then in France where they had a specific stage methodology. She gave up her acting career to take care of her daughter, who was born with Down's Syndrome.

Maria Isabel Gracia is María's niece, and she worked in Puerto Rico and Chile as a model, actress and even did some work behind the cameras. She has, at least, one daughter.

Raïna Paris Manuel Gracia is Teresita's daughter. She has worked as a TV actress, stage actress, producer, documentaries director... but also she's been studing the spiritual side of the humanity and she's written books, poems and makes some speeches about the subject, she also makes some workshops and tarot readings. Being a single child, sometimes has been difficult for her as all the family burden was on her.

Dominic Fuentes Gracia is Maria Isabel's daughter. Just as her auntie Raïna, Dominic has worked on TV and cinema as an actress, but nowadays makes workshops and speeches about spirituality. She is a divorced mum but has a beautiful relationship with her ex-husband.

In this International Women's Day I honour all these strong and brave women who made (and still do) a wonderful family that has spread around the world but has a strong bond.

All these women are different, some were rich, some were poor, some had lots of kids, some had none, some had lovely families, others were just divorced women, but all of them had to fight for their rights, their lives and their truth.

To all of them, the ones who came first and the ones who'll came later, I honour you.

hello <3 about two years ago, I sent you an ask because i had gotten accepted to uni in france and I was terrified to leave behind my parents as i’d never been apart from them before and we have a great relationship. it’s possible you don’t remember this; you encouraged me to go, commiserated with my fears, shared about having gone to italy. I wanted to let you know that I decided in the end to move, and after two years I can safely say i found a home here. it was the best decision i ever made, and i thank you so much for having encouraged me, and, honestly, more than that, for having understood my fears and met me there. I can’t say I wouldn’t have gone without your response as I think there was some inevitability to it all, but you did make it so much easier. You made it feel like brightness when I had been crying for days about the fear of it all. I needed it so much. I wanted to thank you.

I’m so sorry to hear what you’re going through now. I have no way to make it better or easier, but I do hope your pain and your family’s pain eases soon. I don’t believe it’s kind to tell people things happen for a reason because not everything does. Sometimes things just happen and we have to bear them, and though I can’t hold your hand or give you a hug to help you bear it in person, know that I’m reaching out to you like this at least in the hope that it gives you something to know that this stranger is thinking of you. You gave me light and have given me light with your presence on my dash, silly as it sounds, for years. I wish you feel that light returning tenfold. ‘El Loco’ wins landslide victory in Argentina that experts say shows scale of frustration with Peronist status quo

Luminaries of the global far right are in raptures over Javier Milei’s thumping election victory in Argentina which experts predict will turn Buenos Aires into a new stomping ground for the populist radical right.

Donald Trump and Jair Bolsonaro led the merrymaking after their Argentinian ally trounced his rival, the Peronist finance minister Sergio Massa, by nearly 3 million votes in Sunday’s presidential election. The former US president predicted Milei would “truly make Argentina great again” while Brazil’s ex-president applauded a victory for “honesty, progress and freedom”.

Bolsonarista and Mileísta activists predicted Milei’s win would be the first in a trio of rightwing conquests that would see Trump and Bolsonaro reclaim power in 2024 and 2026.

In his first post-victory interview on Monday, Milei announced he would travel to the US and Israel – where he has promised to move Argentina’s embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem – before being sworn in on 10 December, alongside his ultra-conservative vice-president elect Victoria Villarruel.

Bolsonaro announced he would attend Milei’s inauguration in Buenos Aires and posted footage of a pally video call with Argentina’s president-elect. “I’m really happy,” Bolsonaro told the radical libertarian economist. “You have a big job ahead of you … and it’s a job that goes beyond Argentina,” Brazil’s former leader added. “Gracias!” Milei replied.

Unlike Bolsonaro, a professional politician who posed as an anti-establishment outsider to win power in 2018, Milei is a genuine newcomer to the world of politics. Born in Buenos Aires in 1970, he played in a Rolling Stones cover band and found fame as a foul-mouthed economic pundit on Argentinian television before being elected to congress in 2021 for his libertarian party Libertad Avanza (Freedom Advances). Milei’s mercurial personality, expletive-ridden onscreen outbursts and Britpop-style hairdo have cemented his reputation as ‘El Loco’ (The Madman).

From Bogotá and Santiago to Lisbon and Madrid, other ultra-conservative figures voiced delight at Milei’s landslide victory over the centrist Massa, by 14.47m to 11.51m votes.

André Ventura, the leader of Portugal’s far-right Chega! (Enough!), celebrated Milei’s “struggle to defend society” and Matteo Salvini, the leader of Italy’s far-right League, sent his congratulations. Santiago Abascal, the leader of Spain’s far-right party Vox, said Milei had opened “a path of future and hope … for Argentines and all of Latin America”.

Hungary’s president Katalin Novák congratulated Milei on a “great victory”.In South America, the Chilean ultra-conservative politician José Antonio Kast congratulated Milei for his “resounding triumph”, writing: “The reconstruction of Argentina starts now”.

The Colombian senator María Fernanda Cabal called Milei’s victory a victory for “sanity, common sense [and] the hope of a rebirth for Argentina”. “Once again Latin America’s depredating left has been defeated.”

Don’t mean to bother you but, I saw a clip of Meloni quoting GKC during a speech and that disposed me favorably towards her, but I was wondering what’s your opinion, as a smart Italian. Gracias!

Yeah, and she's apparently a huge fan of Tolkien too – she's catholic and I like that she is, BUT she's one of those catholics (and we have more than a few among Italian politicians) that boast about being catholic while very transparently never having read a single line of the Church's social teachings ever.

And yes, there are maybe one or two ideas of hers that I agree with, but that's mostly because you know what they say about broken clocks and being right. She is very right-wing so she has some truly bonkers ideas re: the economy and administration and policing, and also uncharitable ones about social matters like the poor, immigrants, minorities.

The absolute worst thing about her, though, is that she and her party are heavily inspired by late/neo fascist rhetoric (formally and ideologically), and they skew very close to revanchism. She has an incomprehensible admiration for Mussolini and the ideas of fascism, and she's had it since she was a teenager – which is, I mean, troubling to say the least. And while I don't think she will start a dictatorship or anything close to that (that's basically impossible given our anti-fascist constitution and the amount of votes she got), I feel very uneasy about the ugly ideas she opened the door to. There's a big chunk of the Italian population who has no problems about those fascist/racist/autarch-ist undertones – and I'm not just taking about people wearing black shirts and whatnot (even if they exist, unfortunately and ickily), but also in everyday life those ideas, that have always been there, mind you, are now being enabled more and more, and the amount of worrying events happening is undoubtedly bound to increase. Meloni (the Right in general) is iffy and vague when it's time to publicly condemn those kind of incidents; whereas she's adamant and venomous towards other situations (usually regarding immigrants or protesters), and also has some butt-ugly ideas re: police forces which could degenerate super easily.

Foreign press is all in a buzz because she's "Italy's first woman PM", but honestly she's simply the new eric_andre_thatcher_girl_power_meme.jpg

If you really wanna find one single positive thing about her is that she's been coherent throughout her whole political career, generally avoiding the oh-so-italian "inciuci" – although how admirable is coherence if your ideas are consistently bad?
