Lately I've seen a lot of Lizzie fan posts obviously hating Grace a lot. And they have to invent the reasons, because it didn't happen like that on the show.
I've even seen a post saying Tommy and Lizzie were so in love and so soft together, but they screwed that up on S6. I was really surprised because all it shows us is Tommy treating Lizzie badly or ignoring her, Lizzie treating Tommy badly and complaining about everything he does. She begging him to let her in, he calling her property. She is thinking about getting a divorce but in the end she decides no, she better accept that her husband cheats on her out of the house, and she better accepts living in a house that is a sanctuary of his dead wife, because otherwise she has to move and live normal as before, without the luxuries. At no time did I see love between the two of them. Lizzie never understood or accepted Tommy, she hoped that once they got married, she would replace Grace, in Tommy's heart, and he would fall completely in love with her. Well that never happened, and she blames him for it. I saw many posts with the anti grace tag, I would be anti Lizzie then, because i didn't believe that she didn't plan every decision she make since S1. She told Linda herself, "I chose this life."
I don't believe that the war that she started for Angel Changretta was for love. But rather it was jealousy, she was jealous of Grace, she wanted to be the one to marry Tommy, she wanted to make him jealous, but the only thing she achieved was to make John jealous. It's just that I don't see any other explanation, since she never shed a tear for Angel. What if it showed, as she did not wait a week, to jump on Tommy, Grace and Angel were dead, this was her opportunity, to go back to sleep with Tommy. He was vulnerable because of the death of the person he loved the most in his life, and as Polly said, when he's grieving he makes mistakes. Just like when John died, his big mistake was sleeping with Lizzie, and getting her pregnant. That was where he got stuck in a toxic, unhappy relationship, where guilt and loneliness were the emotions that remained in that marriage. He kept seeing her as a prostitute, "in my head i still paid you", she kept hoping that he would change for her. She tried everything to be his wife, and even though she succeeded it wasn't what she expected. That's why I don't understand the "she deserves better", if that's what she always wanted since S1. I will always see her as someone who did a lot of damage to the Shelbys, because of her jealousy.
Grace was the only one who accepted, understood and loved Tommy completely, that's why he could never forget her, he never stopped loving her, and no one is going to replace her in his heart.

Sometimes I think about how people rank Jason as their least favorite because he’s “such a bland character with no personality”, but was he even allowed to have one in the first place?
He’s two years old when Lupa guides him to Camp Jupiter. He’s brought up to be the perfect soldier, the perfect Roman, the perfect hero. He doesn’t know life outside the legion. He’s the son of Jupiter, he has to be great. If he’s not, he’s a failure and a disgrace. If he is then he’s still not the best because there so many other heroes who did it better than him so he has to keep trying harder and harder even though no matter what he’s never going to be good enough because the moment he slips up he’s no longer the perfect hero.
The few times he actually tries to do something he wants, he’s only cut down. Changing the 12th legion to the 1st legion? No, you can’t do that. It’s tradition. You’re wrong. That’s stupid. Joining the 5th cohort? Why would you join those losers? You’re only hurting yourself. You could be great if you join the 1st cohort instead like a good Roman boy.
So why would he try to do anything that cultivates his identity? Why would he try to do anything that brings him joy if everyone around him is just going to suck it right out?
He has no best friends at Camp Jupiter. He has acquaintances. He has people he’s friendly with. Say what you want but Reyna was a coworker. Dakota was cool, Gwen was nice. But none of them make Jason want to stay at Camp Jupiter instead of Camp Half-Blood. He thinks of Reyna but only in terms of he doesn’t want to saddle her with the responsibility of picking a new praetor. He thinks about duty. When he is picking between the camps he’s weighing his options between doing his duty as he’s done his whole life or picking himself for the very first time ever and he picks himself.
And it’s honestly so fucking depressing that the first time Jason picks himself and is actually supported in his decision happens when he is sixteen years old. And most of the people supporting him have only known him for a month.
But then he saddles himself with duty and responsibilities because that’s all he’s ever known and Percy is dying and Jason is a good Roman and a good hero and his job is to sacrifice his life for everyone else because of course it is. So he takes on Pontifex Maximus to build shrines and temples to minor gods and goddesses (not that they shouldn’t be honored but… once again he’s sacrificing his identity for the good of everyone around him).
And then, just as he’s finally discovering an identity for himself—he likes physics, he’s learning about the mortal world and living in it, he’s becoming more than just Jupiters son and Juno’s perfect hero—he’s killed.
Jason never got to be Jason. He only got to be Jason Grace, son of Jupiter, Praetor of the 12th Legion, slayer of Krios, one of the Seven, Juno’s Champion, Pontifex Maximus. He always belonged to someone else and never himself.
All this to say, Jason is my favorite of the Seven and although he’s not the eldest nor a daughter, as an eldest daughter I relate so hard and feel very seen in him.

I wish we got Jason being upset or jealous or something of Percy being closer to Thalia than he was. Annabeth too, tbh.
Like, can you imagine what that would have been like. Thalia is the ONLY family Jason really has. Camp Jupiter thinks of him as a soldier. His mom is dead and his dad is Zeus.
And he barely has any relationship with her!! He didn't even know she existed for most of his life and then they finally found each other but they had to split up after just a few hours and only saw each other a couple of times after that! Meanwhile Percy has gone on multiple quests with her and got to spend around a year with her and they were already pretty close at the start of TTC. Annabeth spent a year on the streets with her and also got to hang out with her pre-TTC to the point where Percy was competing with Thalia to be Annabeth's best friend (albeit one sided) And then there was Luke and Nico and the hunters of Artemis and even Reyna.
Just. Idk. Give me Jason wishing he could have that with Thalia.

can't stop thinking about that joke about Jason having to ask for every bolt of lightning he uses, but what if- what if that was true.
just imagine Jupiter giving a restricted amount of bolts he can use in a set time and not renewing them until the time limit has passed. just imagine Jason in battle counting off every lightning strike and trying to save them for later. just imagine that the only way to get more is begging to a father who does not care to listen. sometimes the count varies and he's in the middle of a fight and suddenly the lightning he's summoning puffs into smoke in his hands and he's left scrambling even though he's sure he hasn't run out. Jason learns to manipulate the winds, to fly, to fight and win without lightning ever sparking between his fingertips because there's always a chance that he may need it later, that a greater emergency could occur. He's fighting Krios, furious and fast when there's suddenly smoke where there should be lightning and he grits his teeth, raises his sword, and keeps going. He wins.

i will forever be disappointed at how the Aphrodite cabin is portrayed in the books.
Silena was an exception I guess but it wasn't enough tbh. I really dislike the way wearing makeup or dressing up fancy is seen as "shallow" or "too much". There's nothing wrong in wanting to dress extravagantly, it's a form of self prep. Fancy ≠ shallow. And the only "good" member of the cabin after silena was a girl who didn't like her own cabin and was seen as super "cool" simply because she rejected all the "girly" stuff by rebelling. Why can't we have both "girly" and non girly girls as cool people?
Drew was genuinely very shallow, but every time she's brought up in the books, instead of soley describing her personality, her tendency to wear makeup is shown as a bad thing. And it's not just because she's seen in piper's pov, she wasnt really described any better in Sadie Kane's povs either. When Sadie described drew wearing "awful pink eyeliner" upon seeing her + plus saying her perfume was 'too much' or something like that.
Reading about Drew's character description just gives me a headache lol because the way Rick wrote her as being shallow while ironically making other people judge her in a shallow way is just off putting. Like, no need to bitch on her for wanting to be more 'feminine' and "princess-y" ?
Give me an Aphrodite kid who sees wearing makeup as an art form (because it is) and not simply just to impress other people, like drew.
Give me an Aphrodite kid who uses fashion as a coping mechanism from their shitty life.
Give me an Aphrodite kid who loves knitting other people cute scarves as presents.
Give me an Aphrodite kid who loves doing younger camper's hair for them as their love language.

maybe jason is boring or maybe it’s the forced upon military training since the age of two (2!) and the expectation/pressure to be perfect that deprived him of having an actual childhood and having access to hobbies to figure out who he is & what he likes, and he still didn’t get to have that after the wars bc demigods can’t have anything for themselves for just one fucking second!

just imagining being all cuddled up with jason grace in his dorm at new rome on a stormy afternoon. wearing his scent-infused hoodie that’s too big while both your legs are buried underneath fluffy blankets, limbs all tangled together to trap in the heat. a comfort movie playing in front of you as the rain pelts the windows and thunder booms in the background. his strong arms tightening around you each time you flinch at a particularly loud crack of lightning. his stupid jokes about his dad being pissed off that he tells just to make you giggle. eventually falling asleep in his embrace and him just admiring your face before pressing a loving kiss to your temple and nodding off himself, happy as ever.

Blofis-Jackson-Grace AU Where Percy introduces the traumatized, anxiety ridden, orphan, Roman Demigod Jason Grace to Paul and Sally, and they immediately sign mental adoption papers.
With a side of big brother Jason to baby Estelle. Jason gets all mushy and depressed, and heartbroken around her because how could his mom live him alone when he was that small and breakable

Okay, so ignoring The Burning Maze in TOA. Imagine Jason hearing about Leo building his new life at the Waystation & he already knows Piper is working on her new mortal life. It leaves him questioning where he fits in now. What is he supposed to do? He still has to finish the shrines to the minor Gods, but after that, what purpose would keep him around? He was raised by Lupa during his crucial years, and then at 4 was sworn into the Legion. Yet, he's become too Greek to stay around Camp Jupiter. He doesn't fit in like he used to. And he's too restrained to really fit in at Camp Half-Blood.
It hurts because the two people closest to him seem to be adjusting just fine to new lives, and he has no idea what he'll do when this task is done. This giant question lies at his feet, and he doesn't want to search for the answer, the real answer. Because, if asked, the answer would be Son of Jupiter, Juno's Champion, and former Praetor.
Under all of Juno's memory meddling, behind the child soldier, beneath the abandoned toddler, Who is Jason Grace?

Catching Up
Thalia: So what happened after Juno took you? Where did you go? Were you safe, happy?
Jason, uncomfortably brushing her off: Well, it’s a long story and kind of a bummer haha. You don’t wanna hear that right now.
Thalia, softly: Jason, I’ve waited thirteen years to hear your sad stories.

far and away my favourite thing about tsc was the direct parallels we got between neil and jean now that we've been allowed inside jean's head as well.
we have neil who's almost frighteningly self-sufficient; getting to grips with his surroundings when he moves to psu as soon as possible by going for long solo runs, not waiting for his teammates after he's done at the stadium, going shopping on his own for stuff on foot and only buying what he can carry back by himself, hitchhiking back from columbia -- the fact that he could have asked coach or any of his upperclassmen to come and get him not even occuring to him. but through forced proximity, he gets to know them more, and he gets to like them, and they become the people that he would do anything for, that he fought so hard to stay with.
on the other hand we have jean, whose time in the nest has had the adverse effect; he's never alone, he's hardly ever off-campus, and he's never had the kind of freedoms that you'd usually be afforded at college. the idea of living off-campus is horrifying to him, the idea of having his own room is unheard of to him -- and unsettling enough for him to want jeremy to move in there with him. jeremy shows him the way to the court but he's too disoriented to follow along properly because he's not used to being out in a city like this. for years he hasn't been allowed a life outside of exy and the nest, so he doesn't know how to be out in the world. he has no idea how to navigate it. he sees exy as his only purpose, so anything that doesn't seem to serve this goal is meaningless and egregious to him.
...but then there's jeremy, and cat, and laila.
idk, just, something something neil didn't realise how lonely he was until he met the foxes, and jean was painfully aware of how lonely he was despite being stuck with the ravens all of the time, and is now getting the chance to learn that it doesn't have to be like that with the trojans.

I just realised that Jason/Thalia largely parallel Nico/Bianca and now I'm sobbing. Remember in the ending of lost hero? Jason was anxiously waiting for Thalia to join the chb meeting saying "She promised, after all" he sounded just like a little Nico saying "where is my sister?"
Jason Grace , the high and mighty leader of Rome becoming such a soft lil bro to Thalia is just so heartbreaking and adorable :( the moment he saw her face he immediately knew she was family, he took her hand when she offered it to him with zero hesitation and hugged her, was enraged after she was turned into an ice statue, and was deeply pained when he found out she had a whole new life without him and that she most likely won't need him anymore but all the while still desperately wanting her to be there with him in chb, for moral support. Gosh he's such a puppy :')
Thalia was also SUCH a soft older sis too, there's this passage in the lost hero where jason went "But we've barely talked" bc she said she had to leave and her eyes soften at his kicked-puppy face. Also the only thing that calmed Thalia from blowing up at juno was jason grabbing her hand and calling her "sis" UGHH THEY ARE BOTH SO SOFT
