Picrew Masterpost

So uh... I use picrew a lot. Like, a lot a lot. Because of this I have a lot of funky picrews in my catalog, some are really popular some less so - figured I'd make a master list with as many as I physically can. I'll try to list pros and cons* for each picrew - unfortunately, due to the image limit I can't include examples** *pros and cons are my personal opinion, I am not trying to insult any picrew on this list nor am I saying my opinion is the be-all or end-all. I will not be commenting negatively on any art styles in my con list, I will simply focus on what it does well and what I think could be better **If you have a maker you think should be added send me an ask with the link and lmk it's for this post For the sake of actually browsing this post, we're gonna have sections. Under these sections will be all the picrews relating to it. The sections, in the order listed, are:

Modern - has a majority modern clothing options

Fantasy - has a majority fantasy clothing options

Historic - clothing options or artstyle reflect a specific time period

Full Body - shows knees up of the characters or more

Group - more than one character in the image

Animals - any non-humanoid

Misc - makers that don't include a character or that work better for icons than character design

I will also put emojis next to picrews that include certain things, 🧕 for picrews with hijabs, 🌈 that include LGBT backgrounds or pins, 🎉for picrews with vitiligo, ♿ for disability options (wheelchairs, feeding tubes, etc) and ✨ for my personal favourite picrews. Annabeth:Transmasc he/him butch lesbian who's egg cracked thanks to and at the same time as Percy's.Works out a lot to be buff for gender euphoria and has an undercut,owl wing shaped top surgery scars and no streak in her hair as it faded fully due to being blonde.Dresses like a 90s tomboy

Clarisse:Pretty much the same but he's also half black and therefore has light brown skin and his brown hair is naturally kinky and he keeps it at chin length with chopping it off with a knife whenever it grows past that(took Piper's choppy look and gave it to him because it's not culturally insensitive that way).Same identity and aesthetic as Annabeth but with more edge to it like t-shirts with violent and crude graphics

Silena:I go with the fandom's muslim hc and also hc that all her hijabs have been a pastel color and after getting to Camp Half Blood,she was given magic ones that never come off.Black-french with almost black skin,brown eyes and burn scars from the acid incident that she survived in my verse.Peak pastel femme

Thalia:Black/white mixed and looks like a girl version of Zeus,not unlike Percy with Poseidon.Has her canon lithe build and electric blue eyes but her hair is locs(same length as usual though)and she's darkskinned with strong features.Trans girl who took metamorphose as a gift from Persephone like Percy(which is the reason for her chosen full name,as a thank you to her)but the only effects it had on her was giving her a muffin top and a small chest because she's butch.Goth punk like in canon

Nico:Black-italian trans boy.Darkskin but lighter than Percy and Thalia and noticably more delicate features than them and has an afro and an average build with top surgery scars-He was the third and final one to be gifted metamorphose by his stepmom and that's where he got them from,no surgery needed(it also added 2 inches to his height).Goth with but a gnc twist thanks Percy and Hazel's influence.Small note i'd like to share:Persephone asked Sally about the Big Three Kids' favorite foods and the metamorphose's ended up being blue pancakes,a double cheeseburger and a box of 10 piece McNuggets

Bianca:Black-italian with medium skin,similar facial features to Nico and her single braid is instead a box braid low ponytail.Light academia(but actually reads).Still dead sadly but everyone thinks fondly of and speaks highly of her

Rachel:Nigerian-american trans girl.Still a green eyed redhead but with a very strong face,extremely dark skin and wears her hair in it's naturally big and poofy state.Fat because of her estrogen and her fashion sense matches her eccentric artist personality

Jason:Black/white mixed and it's easy to tell by looking at him to go with him and Thalia being opposites.Thick and curly dirty blonde hair,brown eyes and light brown skin.Nerdy jock as always

Piper:Long straight black hair that she keeps down,skin that's darker than Jason's but lighter than the rest of the Big Three Kids',black eyes,monolids and a hooked nose.Butch with a love for sanrio and Percy got her into skating so she incorporates that into her wardrobe too(Butch4femme solidarity at it's finest).Aphrodite took the form of a cherokee woman when with Tristan so she's full native

The worst kinds of non-religious people are the ones who degrade Christianity for having the exact same traits MANY religions share. It's disgusting, close-minded, privileged, and complete erasure.

"The Bible is fiction" by that logic so is the Tanakh. The Torah, the story of Moses freeing his people from slavery using the wonders of G-d. The Neviyim.

That "sky daddy" you mock is the same God worshipped by Jewish ppl, Zoroastrians, and Muslims, as well as Christians.

MANY religions have sacred texts. Hinduism, the OLDEST SURVIVING RELIGION (recorded), worships multiple gods that form the many faces of greater more powerful Gods. Is that primitive? Does it shock you?

Indigenous religions know many spirits that they believe make up the forces of humanity and nature. The Navajo Holy Ones. The Australian aboriginal Dreaming.

These are their LIVES. Muslims are killed for their beliefs, while some misuse them for tyranny.

The Christians beat the culture out of the Native Americans, and now they're treated like antique humans. Ancient Central American religions paid their gods in the blood of PoWs, and now they're all dead.

Ever since Constantine hallucinated that magic cross in the sky and made Christianity mainstream, the holiness has been dying out. Crosses, SACRED SYMBOLS, are bought and worn by Goths, and Rroma culture is appropriated for the "aesthetic". They mashed Yule (a sacred pagan day to celebrate Midwinter) and Christmas (celebrating the day a refugee family bore the Son of God in a barn) into a capitalism holiday. The Bible and the hijab is twisted toward hateful causes, and now the hijab is the symbol of oppression when it was meant to show respect.

Christians in the age of Rome were hunted, chained up for gladiatorial sport, and blamed for terrorism. Now they have fallen, and have done the SAME THING TO OTHER CULTURES. it was the belief of the poor and oppressed, now its been stolen by hatred and entitlement. Homophobia, xenophobia, racism, hypocrisy, the Rich. Christianity isn't white, european, nice, clean, priveleged, pearl-clutching colonialism. It's about kindness, sympathizing with the oppressed, valuing mothers, raising your voice against injustice, and driving out the rich from holy spaces.

Muslims aren't terrorists. Jews aren't greedy. Buddhists aren't weak. Native Americans aren't primitive. While Christians are often fools, God isnt.

All religion means something. Memory, justice, spirituality. These are people's LIVES.

you hate religion? All religions? All of them are fiction? Maybe to you. But not everyone thinks we're meant to be alone in our lives.

THAT is humanity. Believing whatever takes so that we don't have to be alone. It doesn't matter if a people is the majority. They are people, culture. I don't give jack shit what you say about the assholes in my religion, but mocking the most basic framework of human spirituality is despicable and needlessly spiteful. You are shallow and have a narrow, spiteful view of humanity.

Treat religion with respect, or you'll risk repeating history.

Personally, I think Gareth would favor more Punk/Lolita Goth types but let's be real, he wouldn't give a fuck as long as you're anti-establishment, anti-Fascist, and like metal. Frankly even the metal part is probably not required lmao.

You two would go to shows together and he'd get so nervous at first if you went into the mosh pit, until he sees you're a little battering ram and just goes absolutely feral.

He'd get you longer necklaces so they fall in between your boobs, maybe he'd let you wear his skull necklace during shows.

Will mark your boobs with hickies so anyone who sees them knows you're taken (and you wear low cut shirts to show it off haha)

Before you all start dating he'd lowkey be scared of you! Till he learns your looks are the complete opposite of your personality which is soft and sweet. He'd also learn real quick that soft girls still bark, especially if they have a temper to match his own, which you do.

Gareth would take you Halloween shopping every year, and plan couples' costumes with you. You have a ritual where instead of watching slashers or horror movies like you normally do, you watch a romcom on Halloween night and eat all your favorite candy.

MATCHING TATTOOS AHHH

Hoping this doesn't sound performative but I'm adding it anyway bc it's important: I like to think that he'd be so supportive of however you choose to express yourself and make sure that he supports bands that are not just good but support good values. I write from my own POV which isn't all-encompassing and I think it's super important to acknowledge if it doesn't fit who you are there's still space for you <3 I'm talking about feminist Gareth, Gareth with a Muslim gf who loves how you match your hijab to his vest, Gareth who decolonizes and votes to protect women and POC, BLM protest Gareth, gay rights Gareth, Gareth who decorates his GF's mobility aid and makes pronoun pins for the band. I mention all this specifically because this "stuff" is a huge part of the goth culture (it built it really) and I think he'd be very passionate about it. I know I write smut lol, but good relationships don't require sex and I think he'd be an excellent BF who'd respect those boundaries and would care about what you believe in and his own belief system.

It's like 12:30 in the morning, and you're at Eddie's trailer with the older gang. Robin's in the corner talking to Nancy, Jeff is playing video games with Eddie, and you're in the kitchen listening to Steve and Gareth argue about music. It's hot, and your eyeliner is running as you rummage through the fridge looking for a cold beer, or literally anything to chase the shot you'd just taken.

"I'm telling you, Steve Miller band is so much better than that slasher band-" Steve says, completely getting cut off by your boyfriend.

"Slayer, it's SLAYER. That's not even who I'm talking about!" Gareth grumbles, "they have too much Nazi shit, I'm talking about fucking bands like Quiet Riot. They're revolutionizing music, you can't discredit that."

"Discredit? Man, they're brutalizing rock -" Steve cuts off again as you slam the fridge door.

"Will you two quit it? Steve's a jock Gareth, youre not gonna convince him to listen to metal, especially thrash." You groan, leaning against the counter. "He's no fun."

"Exactly," Steve says, throwing his hands up in the air. "Also, I AM fun, I have plenty of good music to listen to already." He emphasizes the good, making Gareth groan irritatedly.

"What? You think I'm boring?" Steve yells, "Eddie would you say I'm boring?"

"YES." Robin, Nancy, and Eddie reply together without even looking over.

"Jesus," Steve mumbles, "here, let me prove it."

Steve leans in and whispers something in your ear, as Gareth watches smugly, arching an eyebrow as you grin at what Steve is asking you to do. It's a party trick, one you've seen him do in high school, and you're just tipsy enough to play along.

"That's actually kind of metal." You giggle.

"What?" Gareth asks, staring at the two of you as Steve hands you a bottle of jack off the counter. "What're you two talking about?"

"Nuh huh," Steve laughs, "Y/N here is going to be able to explain it much better than I can."

You laugh again as you motion for Gareth to come to you and pull off the sliced-up T-shirt you have over your bra. Gareth's eyes get wide, despite the fact that everyone here could give less of a shit at your indecency.

"What the fuck are you doing, Y/N?" Gareth asks, in front of you now.

"The Harrington special, babe." You answer, winking. "You've never seen it?"

Gareth shakes his head as Steve laughs, "You're about to!"

You pull your boyfriend's face in with one hand and hold the liquor bottle in the other hand.

"All you have to do is stick your face in those lovely boobs of hers and open your mouth," Steve instructs, earning a glare from Gareth at the compliment to your anatomy.

"C'mere baby," you laugh, and Gareth complies, leaning into your chest as he starts to realize what you're going to do. You carefully pour a shot onto your boobs, the alcohol pooling between your cupped breasts and trickling down into his mouth. He laps it up, giving you a dark look as his tongue runs up from below your bra to your collar bone. Fucking christ that's hot.

You'd momentarily forgotten Steve was there as he hollers, "Would a lame person be able to do that?"

You giggle, "You're not doing shit, Harrington."

"Yeah well, not this time Y/L/N, I think your boyfriend would fucking kill me." he laughs, as Gareth nods.

"Touch her tits and you're dead, Steve." He laughs, pulling back and giving you a quick peck on the cheek. "I'll give you like, one notch above lame for teaching her that." He winks at you, and they go back to debating as you pull your shirt back over your shoulders. You were definitely going to pay for that later.

I love the liberation in wearing what you want to wear.

Like. I don't like showing my skin. I love wearing layers. I love obscuring my body either through layers or through flowing shirts or oversized pants. I love when there's holes in my jeans, wearing tights or fishnets underneath. I find great strength in wearing cloth like armor.

But I have friends who are the opposite. Who love to show their whole bodies, at least what's appropriate to show in public spaces. Who find strength in their skin being kissed by the sun.

And I love that. I love that we can choose to wear what makes us happy, comfortable, and more in line with how we feel. And this extends to religious and cultural attire, too. I love seeing Indigenous jewelry and patterns and beadwork adorning Indigenous people with pride. I love seeing people wearing hijabs and niqabs and moccasins and thawbs and yarmulkes and saris and sarafans and evil eye pendants. I love seeing people wearing gender-affirming clothes, too. I love seeing alternative subcultural clothes on people-- the goths, the punks, the e-boys/girls, the lolitas, the metalheads, the dark academics, the lovecore. I love seeing people wear hand-crocheted sweaters and thrifted flannels and regalia that I know required hundreds of hours of labor, every hour filled with love. I love seeing clothes full of holes because they've been worn for so long, but they are so loved by their wearer that they've refused to be turned into scrap cloth or trash. All of it, all of it, all of it.

There's so much beauty in the things we wear, the things we decorate our bodies with. There's so much connection in it. There's so much expression. It's so... human.
