I'm trying to be good at drawing people and I was wondering if you have and tips??
the simple (+annoying) answer every artist is going to give you: practice! just do it a LOT - fill up your mental library and with enough time, it'll come naturally. drawing from life helps a lot (you can do this anywhere people are but if you're in school, during class is a convenient time lmao), and here are a few online resources I like:
• Line of Action - tons of reference images for practice, with handy settings for switches images automatically at intervals from 30 seconds to 10 mins. plus you can choose more specific categories like hands/feet, faces, children etc
• earthsworld - candid photos of americans at county fairs. really fun for drawing more interesting and diverse faces
• AdorkaStock - an great library of poses that can be really helpful if you want something specific! they've got them in handy categories - multiple people, with weapons, on furniture etc (+more on their deviantart maybe but that also might be less easy to navigate)
• Proko on youtube - lots of solid art advice in general, as well as for figure drawing specifically
other miscellaneous tips:
• stylized art is more fun BUT when you take the time to build a solid knowledge of anatomy, you'll be able to stylize and exaggerate a lot more effectively! (this is why art teachers don't like anime lmao)
• practice a variety of things! quick gesture drawings to get a sense of motion, more technical sketches to understand anatomy and the shapes of the body, and longer drawings to practice rendering, lighting, etc
• lastly: take everything here with a grain of salt, cause the most important thing is to enjoy the process and find what works best for you :-) godspeed!!

sometimes i get scared, of it all. the planet ripping itself apart, people slaughtering mindlessly. it's scary.
the concept that everything could end in moments, just because some rich bastards didn't want to change anything, so they instead keep it as it is, letting it get worse as they rot with golden crowns and weighted down by their money and riches.
it's scary, terrifying, debilitating. but we are expected to keep going, to never stop working because without us. they lose money, they can't sit in their thrones without taking our money, and no, no. they can't have that.
so they make laws and rules to stay on top, "Anti-Boycott Laws", never taxing the rich, must come to work on time or else you will go poor and starve, not a second late.
but we're powerful, especially as a unit and as a group, as humans, we've always thrown over rich bastards. the boston tea party, the murder of julius caeser, maybe we need to do it again, it has been a while since the last time we did, right?
we give them our money, and instead of helping us back, they use it to murder, slander and pollute. it's wrong.
hatred is taught but love is natural. murder is taught but living is natural.
they've ruined living, suicide is on a rise, crime is as well, they're breaking their own laws just to stay in power, it's only fair that some woman steals a bit of formula from a super corporation to feed her children, is it not? it's only right that after they steal from us, we get it back.
fix the government, fight the good fight, and maybe, it'll get better soon, godspeed my friends

The Flash Season 7 - Retrospective Review
Watching The Flash season 7 was tough. This was the one season where I really did feel like it was a chore to get through it. I had wondered if my perspective on season 7 would differ from my initial watch, but the issues with the season are way too apparent. As a result, season 7 is easily my least favorite season of the lot.
In all fairness, this season must have been exhausting to shoot, given this was the season shot in the middle of a pandemic, with all sorts of restrictions in place. There are scenes and sequences throughout the season where it is obvious that there is a limit to how many actors can be in the same space. Given the difficulties in shooting, the fact that they cranked out 17 episodes and finished one episode's shooting from previous season is creditable. Additionally, the season also has to deal with the departure of Tom Cavanaugh, Carlos Valdez, and additionally the result of Hartley Sawyer being fired, meaning the loss of Ralph Dibny as well. This led to increased focus on Cecile, Allegra, and Chester which the show never really got us very interested in.
But even apart from the uncontrollables, there are major writing issues this season. The season is split into essentially 4 separate sections. First 3 episodes are basically the holdover mirrorverse storyline, the next 8 episodes are the Forces storyline, then there are 3 interlude episodes, followed by 4 episodes of the Godspeed storyline. Mixed with this is storylines about Frost's love life with Chillblaine, Allegra's storyline with her cousin, and Joe's storyline with Kristin Kramer. The issues start with the Mirrorverse finale. I read that the episode was intended to be much bigger and pandemic restriction kiboshed that, but it was really ridiculous that this storyline basically ended with Barry and Iris just talking Eva out of destroying everything. It was incredibly lame and it ruins all the buildup for a final showdown in retrospect. The first three episodes also basically wastes all the setup of creating the ASF and the sacrifice of all the Wells by destroying the ASF the very next episode. Again, this makes the whole building of ASF seem like a waste of time and also ruins the poignancy of Wells' sacrifice.
The Forces arc is where the season really loses it. The writing of this arc is really bad and cringeworthy. I don't know what Eric Wallace was thinking by making Flash and rest of team Flash basically useless when fighting all the various different forces. The concept of the speed force becoming a villain is interesting but is executed so poorly. And the very on the nose metaphor of the forces being Barry and Iris' children is plain ridiculous. It leads to a lot of unintendedly hilarious moments. It isn't even a metaphor because these forces, who are real people outside of their powers, call Barry and Iris 'Dad' and 'Mom' respectively. The resolution to the arc is also really stupid, with the forces again just kind of talking the speed force out of her villainy and Barry stopping a force storm by running around it. Around that we have the Kristin Kramer storyline, where they have the show have Joe twist and turn around trying to call Kramer a good cop, even though she is blatantly doing things that are very problematic. The whole Kristin Kramer storyline is perplexing and it just results in a storyline for Joe which keeps him away from the main action for most of the season. This may have again been something as a result of the pandemic, to give the cast something to do without them being in the same location. Of the interlude episodes, the Allegra episode is ok, but the Allegra story arc mends the ongoing relationship with Allegra and Esperanza and then immediately kills off Esperanza, which again begs the question as to why so much time was spent on Esperanza in the first place. The ongoing focus on Cecile also gets irritating. Danielle Nicolet is fine in a supporting role, but increased focus on her just results in a very overdone performance. The introduction of Chillblaine as a love interest for Frost was also a bad call. I don't think anyone likes Chillblaine apart from EW.
Of the story arcs for this season, the Godspeed arc is the most successful but it feels annoyingly abrupt. I don't quite get how the Forces arc got 8 episodes, and Godspeed arc for half of that, when Godspeed was a character they had been teasing since season 5. It is also apparent that they had no plan for Godspeed from previous incarnations because the role is recast. Its a very shallow arc, with no major depth to speak of, but it does at least provide more speedster vs speedster action, and we get Nora and Bart, along with Jay. I know there are some who find it goofy, and I get why, but I got a kick out of the lightning sword fight with Barry and Thawne vs Godspeed. It kind of at least delivers a bit of the fun that the season required. Its cool to see Nora and Bart, and its always great to have JWS back as Jay.
There are a few fun episodes throughout the season. I think the Cisco farewell episode is pretty lighthearted fun but also hits good emotional notes and relies on the Barry, Caitlin, Cisco dynamic. The farewell episode to all the various Harrison Wells is also well done. It gives Grant an opportunity to stretch his chops when channeling all the various Wells and the actual farewell moment was actually very well done. Its a bit odd that apart from Barry, there were no other OG team members around. I know Danielle was on maternity leave when the episode was largely shot, but Cisco should have been there. The ASF emotionless Barry episode was also pretty cool. The fight between Barry and team Flash was fun and it was shame they had to destroy the ASF and remove his speed thinking ability. The Still force episode with Cisco and Chester stuck in the 90's is pretty fun and kind of takes a bit of various Legends vibe with all the various characters in different era costumes. The final two parter of the Godspeed arc is decent. I did like that they separated out Caitlin and Frost. If they weren't going to merge them, it was better to separate them out. Not a fan of her love interest arc with Chillblaine but I liked that they did get around to her taking ownership of her actions, even though the way it happened didn't make much sense.
The cast does its job for the most part. All the OG's know their roles at this point. Grant, Candace, Danielle P, Jesse, Tom, Carlos all do their job well. Tom does get to play the OG wells, albeit just for a couple of episodes. I honestly think they should have done one more season with OG Wells. Carlos is missed after his departure. Kayla Compton and Brandon Knight both have much more elevated roles this season and they do a good job. Danielle Nicolet does overdo her performance at several points. Jessica Parker Kennedy is wonderful as Nora as usual. Jordan Fisher overdoes it a bit as Bart, but he's still likable. JWS is great as always. Michelle Harrison makes significant appearances both as the speed force as well as Joan Williams. Carmen Moore as Kristen Kramer is fine. Sara Garcia, Ennis Esmer, Christian Magby, and Karan Oberoi are ok as the forces and August Heart respectively. Jon Cor as Chillblaine is amusing, although far more effective when he was positioned as a villain. Natalie Deyfuss pops up for a couple of episodes as Sue and its great to see her too.
All in all though, the season is a big disappointment. Easily the weakest of the seasons. 3/10.

I'm so glad you said earlier that people need to let things meant for Iris be for Iris. I can't believe how fans want comic book stories taken from the comics to be brought to life until they realize oh! that means Iris has to be involved too. She is way more involved in the comics than the show has ever let her be and it makes the most sense that she would be one of the potential speedsters to help in the finale. Not because she once had speed from Barry due to a meta transferring it to her, but because of the force being in her period. Because she more than likely has gestational speed due to being pregnant with speedsters even though she doesn't know it yet. Not from any artificial means like V9 or V10. Not because she was hit by anti matter like Cecile was when she was pregnant. For some weird reason, some fans think the rest of the team will also be speedsters just because they've been in Flashtime with Barry. That doesn't make any speedforce logical sense at all and wouldn't be fair to the character of Iris.
Let Iris have what she deserves. Why does she have to be the one to share all the time?
Of course, nonnie, AND THANK YOU. ALL. OF. THIS.
I think what really frustrates me about this is that it shows how little these people actually care about Iris. They don't actually pay attention to what the narrative might be setting up for her; they just hear: "Ooh, Iris is getting something cool, let me see how I can apply that to everyone else on the show." Nobody does this with any other character, and I'm so tired of the disrespect. How are you going to sit there and cook up random theories about unrelated plot points just to involve "Team Flash" in a story about the West-Allen family, when the narrative has been clear about Iris's unique, organic connection to the speedforce, to the point that the speedforce is there beneath her veins and is why she was able to return Barry his speed. We've seen Iris's connection to the speedforce solidified this season; she and Barry recreated the speedforce and the other Forces. Iris had Barry's speed during 4x16, and she was able to cultivate her own lightning which she passes on to her daughter. Like her children inherit their connection to the speedforce not only from their father, but also from their mother. Now, Iris is experiencing a phenomenon where she's phasing through timelines. If you write that off as the show simply explaining her absence and not as setting up any plot for her, but want to reach for the stars to try and involve all these other characters... yeah, enough of that. Stop taking things away from her, just because you think a plot is cool and want to apply it to other characters. When clearly that plot point in 7x16 is also setting up Iris gaining speed. Add to all of this, Iris has gotten so little focus this season; to then want to take away this uniquely cool plot, where she's getting the chance to run with HER FAMILY, and apply it to everyone else is not okay. It's not. Iris shouldn't have to share all the fucking time. Even in 4x16, during her big episode as a speedster, there were sub-plots going on, and Ralph was being an absolute asshole towards her. I'm so tired of this same old nonsense from people in this fandom.
(Also, it was made evident in 7x16 that fake Godspeeds were feeding off of the speedforce, so anybody who doesn’t have an organic connection to the speedforce would essentially be an invasion in the speedforce. That is exactly what SF Nora doesn’t want, lmao. That was what Deon was telling Barry: the speedforce was trying to eradicate the fake Godspeeds that were feeding off of it. So how does it make an ounce sense for a bunch of people with zero connection to the speedforce to ALSO feed off of the speedforce during this War?)

More Nitpicking!
Article #3:
1. I’m pretty sure Heat Wave is more powerful than Captain Boomerang. Though I do think comparing him to Green Arrow and Hawkeye is appropriate, as it conveys the sheer level of skill that Capt. Boomerang has.
2. Killer Frost isn’t a Flash villain in the comics.
3. In the comics, the Thinker does not use a thinking chair like he does in the CW show; he uses a thinking cap instead. That being said, he is quite powerful, so I can’t argue with his placement on this list.
4. ABRA KADABRA SHOULD NOT BE #10 ON A LIST OF MOST POWERFUL VILLAINS!
5. “Abra Kadabra is a minor villain in DC Comics that gained a little more popularity when The Flash on The CW made him a character on the show.” I wouldn’t really call Kadabra a minor villain.
6. Cicada is not more powerful than Abra Kadabra (or the Thinker, but mainly Abra Kadabra).
7. Walter West wasn’t really a villain per se, so he shouldn’t really be on the list.
8. Captain Cold is not more powerful than Abra Kadabra, and he probably isn’t more powerful than the Thinker, either.
9. Zoom should be much higher than #6 on the list.
10. Grodd, Mirror Master, and Savitar being in spots #5, #4, and #3, respectively, is appropriate...but Zoom should be ranked higher than they are. And so should Abra Kadabra.
11. I don’t think Godspeed is more powerful than Savitar, and I’m sure he’s less powerful than Zoom. And Abra Kadabra.
12. Likewise, Eobard is also less powerful than Zoom.
I don’t know what Kadabra’s doing wrong, but man, he gets no respect. And neither does Zoom, apparently.
Article #4:
1. This article knows its stuff about Savitar...though it is a bit weird that he’s ranked so low on a list of the most feared Flash villains; I’d think he’d be a bit higher.
2. It’s a bit weird to have Killer Frost on the list of the most feared Flash villains (though the article does get points for acknowledging that she’s usually a Firestorm villain in the comics.)
3. I’m actually not sure whether Heat Wave is more or less scary than Weather Wizard. On the one hand, a villain who can control the weather is pretty scary as a concept...but on the other hand, Mark has a lot more control over himself than Heat Wave does...and Heat Wave’s pyromania means that he might hurt you without even wanting to. That’s pretty scary in its own right, so I can’t begrudge him being higher on the list than Mardon.
4. Everyone run from the terror that is...a guy who throws curvy sticks! (I know that some of them explode and such, but is Captain Boomerang really among the top ten most frightening Flash villains?)
5. Yay, Zoom! (I’d actually think he’d be a bit higher than number 4, but hey, at least that’s somewhat more subjective than power level.)
6. “Whereas most other Flash enemies cast aside the well-being of others, Captain Cold lives by a code of honor. In it lies the following codes: no senseless violence, no use of drugs, and no killing women or children.” And this makes him more frightening than Grodd or Zoom or Savitar because? How does him NOT wanting to hurt people for no good reason make him scarier?
7. I can’t really argue with Eobard being #1 on the list. Dude is a creepy stalker. I’d be scared of him.
8. This was actually a pretty good list overall; the person clearly knew the characters.
Article #5:
5 Flash Villains The CW Watered Down (& 5 They Powered Up)
1. “Both his (Captain Boomerang’s) personality and, ultimately, the size of the threat have all been watered down!” Agreed. CW Captain Boomerang was a letdown, in more ways than one.
2. The degree to which CW Thinker is more powerful than comic book Thinker (specifically, comic book Thinker during Geoff Johns’ run) is debatable, but I think that it’s fair to say that the show powered him up in general.
3. Is the Bug-Eyed Bandit really a proper Flash villain?
4. “Yet, the version (of Sam Scudder) we find in the Arrowverse isn't nearly as impressive as the crook we've seen in the pages of the comics. His design is far less interesting to start with, but his abilities are certainly watered down. He is a metahuman, but he can really only travel through mirrors and use them for illusions. The rest of his abilities are nowhere to be seen!” Very much agreed!
5. “Doctor Alchemy is a pretty forgettable villain in the comics.” Albert and Alvin are many things, but “forgettable” is not one of them. I’d also argue that the show actually depowered Dr. Alchemy if anything. CW Alchemy doesn’t show nearly the level of power over the elements that his comic book counterpart had.
7. “Rainbow Raider is an absolute blast in the comics. The Flash issue 286 introduced us to a flamboyant, colorblind artist with a wacky costume and fantastical powers. He can ride a rainbow with great agility and can actually use these beams of light as weapons! He can also manipulate a person's emotions, using each color of the rainbow to dictate the type of feeling. This is the only aspect of the character that transferred over to the live-action debut of Rainbow Raider. He's drab and boring and doesn't quite have the same flare. While his powers are useful in order to manipulate the team at Star Labs, he's a pale imitation of what we see in the comics. Worst of all he's only included in two episodes, making him a short-lived enemy.”
YAY!!! RESPECT FOR ROY!!!!
Article #6:
The Flash’s Rogues: 10 Supervillains Ranked From Least To Most Powerful
1. “Essentially The Flash’s version of The Joker, James Jesse was the son of a pair of circus performers. He never truly received the love and attention of his parents, so Jesse pulls trick after trick in a pathetic attempt to make them proud.” :*(  I was not expecting this random article to make me have feels.
2. I agree that, when he had the White Lantern boomerang construct power, Digger was probably more powerful than James. Otherwise, I’d have to argue with him being described as more powerful.
3. “She (Golden Glider) was on her way to becoming an Olympic skater but eventually joined her brother in a more exciting life of crime.” Not exactly what happened. She primarily became a supervillain to avenge Roscoe’s death.
4. I don’t think Heat Wave’s more powerful than Hartley, in general.
5. “Roscoe Dillon is seen as one of The Flash’s most ridiculous villains, but he can do much more than just spin fast. During the Identity Crisis tie-ins and Rogue War, we see the villain's true power levels. Top has the ability to return from the dead, inhabit people’s bodies, and even flip the psyche of anyone he feels like.Every Rogue that gave up crime during Rogue War was actually orchestrated by Top. In flashbacks, we also see Top easily speeding alongside Barry Allen after he was lobotomized into becoming a hero. Read up on him, you won’t be disappointed.”
Roscoe is #2 on this list! I’m not sure if he’s actually more powerful than, say, the Mirror Masters or Weather Wizard, but hey, at least he’s getting the credit he deserves.
6. Yay! Abra Kadabra is #1 and he’s actually the most powerful character on the list!

Hello naughty children it's Gehenna time.
...which means I'm going to read the book properly this time and write notes on each scenario, partially for my own reference, partially in answer to an ask from @rayshell22livejournalcom from about a zillion years ago. Sorry about that!
Mood soundtrack: Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F# A# ∞; Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven; Yanqui U.X.O.
Prelude: Netchurch is an interesting character. Very skeptical, despite, well, the entire setting, although that's definitely, uh, broken by the end. Feel very sad for Afifa, who was a pawn in all this. Creepy babies galore!
Introduction: "While Vampire favors that futile, tragic, and - we'll say it - angst-heavy conclusion" - lmao you don't say. Although I do like how they have the consistent golden rule that if you don't like it, just ditch it! (Of course, the Gehenna scenarios as a whole have been completely retconned anyway by v20 and v5, so this entire book is a good example of taking what you want from it and ignoring the rest.)
"Some people are on opposite sides of this thing. They're elders who don't want to knuckle under to the Antediluvians (most elders will accept their proper place in the heirarchy again with the rising of their progenitors) and poor, misled souls who bought into the lie and are pissed about it (paging Mr. Pieterzoon). Bottom line: the Camarilla collapses like Enron/WorldCom as the worthlessness of its foundation becomes public knowledge. Chaos ensues among the vampire community, princes find themselves besieged by their own locals, and it's all a big clusterfuck."
Have I ever mentioned I love how VtM phrases stuff? Also F to Jan.
I like how they have a masterlist of what's actually going on with the Antediluvians. Spoilers ;D "For example, note that [Tzimisce] is simply referred to as [Tzimisce]. Even here at the game studio, our limited mortal minds weren't able to comphrenend the creature's real name." Lovecraft only WISHES he had eldritch abominations this spooky! Ennoia is 'Active and scary' and apparently spooks the devs just thinking about it. Makes sense. "Giovanni (Augustus Giovanni): Augustus is a pig, and he should probably die as one of the early events of Gehenna. He's the youngest of the Antediluvians and probably possessed the greatest ego (in mortal terms), so it'll be cosmic justice when he eats it." I love how no one likes Giovanni, even his creators. Malkav may or may not BE the Madness Network, in which case they cease to be an Antediluvian and just become... a part of the Malkavians, I guess? Absimiliard may or may not be chilling at the bottom of the ocean, because mood. Tremere / Saulot is definitely a fun one to play with, yeah. Although, oof, if Saulot ever gets control of their shared body, he's going to be fucked up if [Tzimisce] activates, so. Probably better to create a nice fresh body, like what BJD suggests with the child Saulot.
Chapter 1 - the lead-up: Basically a rundown of the signs and how they're interpreted. "An angel dies: How does an angel die? Who has the gall to rise up and slay one of God's firstborn? Or perhaps this is another metaphor. An angel could be a pure and gentle creature, or then again, it need not be one of God's angels (not that God's angels are necessarily pure and gentle). A feared and particularly vicious Necronomist Tzimisce, Sascha Vykos is sometimes referred to as the Angel of Caine. Many would rejoice the night that Vykos died." Hey rude :( I vote they kill Michael instead. He wants to be an Archangel? Fine, he can fulfill a prophesy XD
Honestly I really do dig that Ennoia Earthmelded with the entire planet. You can go so many directions with that, good or bad! Ennoia as The Beast Below, or Ennoia as Gaia? (Wow, that'd really fuck with the Garou XD) I love how the general consensus on Haqim is like, no one knows if he exists or not but lbr Ur-Shulgi is bad enough. Kinda dig the idea of the Toreador ante, Ishtar/Arikel, being genderfluid? I mean yeah essentially demigods have no need for gender anyway, but the constant debates over whether the Toreador ante is the female Ishtar or the male Arikel (or, uh, was it vice versa?) does lead to some interesting concepts. Ooh, similar to [Tzimisce] being linked to its entire clan (and the Tremere, anyone who's ever taken part in the Vaulderie, and anyone who knows Vicissitude), [Lasombra] may be connected to anyone who knows Obtenebration? [Ravnos]... yeah, probably dead. F to the clan. And yeah I think [Tzimisce] is flat-out the scariest one of all, and probably the one most likely to actually start the apocalypse, lbr.
Ugh this is one of the books that calls Sascha 'it' :-\ Do not like. ...Also do not like the suggestion that they're an unknowing agent of the Eldest, given, uh, the last chapter of the DA Tzimisce novel. Shoo! Shoo! You've ruined their unlife enough as it is!
Epistolary material! I do dig those. Most interesting: a letter to Sascha mentioning apocalyptic visions of New York but with the Carpathians in the background, and an anonymous letter to Hardestadt warning him of one of his line tearing down a castle that the writer feels believes the Camarilla. GO JAN FUCK IT UP.
And on to the scenarios themselves!
Chapter 2 - Wormwood: This is an interesting one. Literally a Biblical vengeance - God takes a good look at the Children of Caine and goes, "Well, this is fucked up", acknowledges that Caine never really sought true forgiveness and repentance, and sets forth Wormwood, the Red Star. The truly repentant are saved, the rest just. Die.
Herald here is a dhampir girl named Alia - thinblood father, human mother. When she's twelve, she becomes God's chosen, basically. Traveling with three thinblood guardians, one night, she's approached a Gargoyle named Ferox with True Faith, who sees himself as a fallen angel. And Alia offers him a way of redemption - find the chosen true believers, wait out Wormwood, receive judgement. Anyone can seek sanctuary, only the true believers and the ones genuinely willing to repent will survive the judgement itself. Alia and Ferox set out to find the other chosen ones.
Whew. Very full-on - the players remain in one place with a whole bunch of other vampires for forty nights. I mean, that's a test in and of itself XD All welcome! (Except infernalists and the antediluvians and Caine himself. They're fucked no matter what.)
Like. All welcome XD "Some Storytellers might feel that this character roundup could get too silly, suddenly having all these celebrity Kindred get together for a big slumber party, and they would be correct." Fuck that give me a slumber party AU XD
Am very glad about the note that the vampires inside only lose one blood point per 10 days, rather than every day. Otherwise, uh, it'd get gory.
Yeah, this is a really interesting scenario. Very character-focused, very introspective. All about the characters trying to work out what it means to be good people - not the strongest vampires, not the most powerful, but good people. Are they worthy of salvation? That's the crux of the story. Of course, it's very, uh, Biblical, heh, but it's first and foremost about morality and redemption. I dig it.
Also, giant vampire slumber party.
Chapter 3 - Fair is Foul: Ooh, this is a Lilith vs Caine scenario.
This one has the Withering hit in weird ways, including clan-specific ones - like the Banu Haqim only able to feed on vitae, then only able to gain sustenance from diablerie. Gangrel turn even more animalistic. Lasombra take to the seas, Obtenebration ripping holes straight to the Abyss. Malks, uh, leak madness. Nosferatu get even uglier, Toreador devolve into debauchery. Tremere develop third eyes, and yes, I did laugh out loud when I read that. Tzimisce... hmm... get a bit, uh, uncontrolled. And Ventrue find they can now only feed on... other Ventrue. Fun times!
"At your discretion, Lilith might be particularly vulnerable to Jewish True Faith, as the Jewish tales about her are the source of nearly every negative sentiment ever directed against her in writing. As a result, most orthodox Jews bear Lilith great contempt for defying her husband and her God." Yeah ngl I think she's pretty dang cool and I can just see, like, most of my ancestors facepalming at the idea XD;; Fuck obediance you do your own thing.
"Trying to work out traits for Lilith, Lucifer, Caine, or any of the Antediluvians would just be a waste of our word count and your time." I like the time they published a guide for fighting Caine. It was two words. "You lose."
Ah. Okay, Saulot in Tremere's body being taken over by the Eldest = scary, because have you ever been attacked by an Antediluvian wielding Thaumaturgy, Valeran, and Vicissitude at the SAME :) TIME? :) Yeah :)
Really dig the idea of Abel showing up as the first Wraith. The forgiveness element.
Overall, this isn't my favourite scenario, I think? It feels very chaotic, and while it's probably the most traditional to play, I'm not sure how much it literally challenges the characters, unlike the sheer soul-searching...ness of Wormwood?
Chapter 4 - Nightshade: Chapter starts with, "We all wear masks" and my first thought was "boy you have no idea" XD
Awww yes this is the masquerade break scenario! See here for my thoughts on that and how the Nephtali could be adapted to v5, heh.
Yeah okay earthquakes, volcanoes, and riots are normal enough. A horrible blood virus where it appears some flesh-like thing is living in people's veins and feeding off their blood sounds like something that starts with T and rhymes with Shzimitze. ...Probably. No one knows how the fuck it's pronounced anyway. Oops, those riots are apparently over the existence of vampires. Yeah that'd be... unfortunate. And more earthquakes, this time due to Kupala vs the Eldest. Whew. Red star, yep, standard. MORE earthquakes, this time due to the Second City rising. Sounds legit. Bad times all around!
The details on breaking the Masquerade are interesting. Basic emotions: denial, rationalisation, fear, anger, acceptance. The acceptance one is interesting, because I can definitely see some jumping to it straight away.
So, on to the scenario itself! Jan recruits the players to fight the... uh, mass under NYC. This is the corpse of the Eldest, which is more or less a giant fungal infection held together with Vicissitude, which frankly is just icky. This actually is  canon-compliant with BJD, since it apparently has only just... dissipated? or whatever there, or if it still remains, it's no longer conscious. In this one, its soul flicks back to Tremere's/Saulot's body and wakes up, and basically every Tzimisce, Tremere, and anyone who has ever drank Tzimisce blood (which would be the entire Sabbat via Vaulderie) spontaneously frenzies. Godspeed. Cyscek, a Tzimisce methuselah, helps defeat the, uh, blob at the expense of his life, and warns with his last words, "The Dragon rises. You must stop it. Find Vykos. [They] know." (Okay yeah the text says 'it knows' but also fuck that.) Ooh, plot point!
Aaaand then they retreat from the battle, exhausted, only to find the whole damn thing broadcast on every TV screen, vampiric Disciplines and Cyscek dusting and all. W h o o p s.
Lots and lots of details of a major masquerade breach here. Hardestadt shows up and tells Jan he's proooobably gonna get Final Death for, you know, trying to save the world. Gonna share this bit because it's Very Satisfying.
Tumblr media
Please refer to my tag #hardestadt has no rights ;D
Anyway! The characters now recruited, Jan leads them back to London for the Convention of Fire. He's working with Calebros and... like a bunch of others, probably anyone can end up here, so long as they want to actually help and not just fall apart like the remnants of the Camarilla (trying to diablerise their way into keeping power) and the Sabbat (...ditto tbh). Those definitely in attendance are Ambrogino Giovanni, Hesha Ruhadze, and Fatima! And lbr the Nod Squad are probably there too. As if Beckett would pass up the chance to NOT witness what's happening with Gehenna. And Anatole is literally a prophet of Gehenna! They found the Nephtali, led by a council of twelve, with Jan at the head. Name means 'the highest point' or 'no further' - as in, Gehenna goes no further than this.
Oh lmao here we go, the scene I mentioned earlier - Jan vs talk shows.
Tumblr media
F to Jan.
Tremere's body (inhabited by Saulot) disappears from beneath the Vienna chantry. Tremere's body, with [Tzimisce] now well in control (having overtaken Saulot; Tremere, meanwhile, has taken over Goratrix's body, with Goratrix's mind stuck in a mirror... it's complicated), wipes out the Vienna chantry. RIP to the Vienna chantry, which doesn't survive in either timeline tbh. Hey, I wonder if that means that Saulot (in Tremere's body) is dead in v5? Etrius manages to escape and reports that the Eldest is now on the way to Ceoris, where it'll call all the remaining Tzimisce to it to become, uh, a part. Pleasant.
Everything between Krakow and Bucharest is straight fukk’d. Ceoris is the centre of all this - IIRC it's somewhere in the southern Carpathians, nearish Brasov. Either way, hell of a fight results with what can only be described as an eldritch abomination, finally both managing to destroy Kupala (the Eldest's goal) and reducing The Thing down to a human-looking body. This bit is interesting! Tremere (in Goratrix' body) and Etrius take one look at each other. "Master..." "I... I know. But where the hell is Saulot?!" Good question, because he sure ain't in Tremere's, uh, former body any more, which was in fact what was fighting them the whole time. Either way, Tremere-in-Goratrix'-body leaps at [Tzimisce]-in-Tremere's-body and diablerises his, um, former body, which must be weird as hell, then tries to turn on the characters and his powers fuckiNG FAIL. EAT SHIT TREMERE. And then the players kill him too and realise that over the course of one night they've destroyed the demon Kupala and two Antediluvians, Tremere and the Eldest. Not bad. This is the battle that causes that second lot of earthquakes I mentioned earlier.
Back to London! They find the mirror containing Goratrix amongst Tremere's belongings. Poor fucker sorry not sorry.
And now the players receive a summons to escort someone from Montreal to the Nephtali headquarters in London! Namely, a Tzimisce named Myca Vykos~ They've recently defected from the Sabbat and want to help take the Antediluvians tf down. (Note: the book here has reverted to using he/him pronouns since they're back in their original form, I'm going to keep using they/them because biological sex does not determine gender identity or pronouns goddammit. ...Anyway. I AM going to use the name Myca since that's the name they're using themself, mostly because, uh, 'Myca' is a bit less noticeable than 'Sascha Vykos', haha.)
So Gehenna has started. Myca's woken up in their original form and being like, "Hey you know what I am preTTY SURE I don't want to serve the Eldest" and promptly joins the Nephtali.
From New York to London to Romania to London to Montreal to London (...London is a hub world apparently), now off to Turkey, to Kaymakli! Which is actually a real place, my brother's been on a tour there. Anyway, this is the part of Kaymakli that they don't show the tourist and that's been sealed shut with lots of angry Cappadocians instead, so that was fun. Presumably Kapaneus hasn't been chilling out there in this one.
Also Colombia has completely been overtaken by the Sabbat so that sucks.
Into Kaymakli! Which usually doesn't let Cainites back out so it may be one-way. Don't worry, there's a ritual for that. At the bottom, they find Augustus Giovanni! Who is pissed off he never actually got to eat Cappadocius' soul and so wants to eat God instead.
As you do.
The book very strongly encourages the players to kill him. Just 'cause. Which is a mood, tbh. Killing him also reveals a beaten, bound Nosferatu, having been Giovanni's most recent food source. An F for Okulos. He's been there for four years, having managed to get a lost fragment of the Book of Nod for Beckett, who promised to come back for him and. Didn't. Which is just rude tbh and I can kind of understand why Okulos ends up betraying Beckett in the Gehenna novel but anyway. (Not canon as of v20, he's perfectly present and chill in BJD.)
End results - the fragment that Okulos went to retrieve shows how to restore the Second City, which holds a complete Book of Nod and may hold the key to stopping Gehenna. It's in Enochian so your player characters probably won't be able to read it (book suggests asking Sascha or Ambrogino). Next stop, Egypt, and a meeting with Hesha Ruhadze! Man this scenario has a lot of signature characters. It also suggests getting third parties in here too, so Beckett would actually be a really good choice. Either way, they find the probable site, and suddenly, a Second City.
Archeologists make grabby hands. Beckett, somewhere, is probably crying in joy. They find a vial with some very old blood in it that they definitely shouldn't drink because otherwise they'll explode (the book uses Sascha as the example here XD;; ). Along with some mystical enscriptions, they return to London and get to work on the prophecy - namely, it suggests that 'the gentle one' (likely Saulot) will die at the hands of another, but arise in a new form, and will stop Gehenna that way. Etrius, one of the only Tremere left and having joined the Nephtali, goes 'fuck it what do I have to lose?' and goes to find whatever new form Saulot is in (potentially can also involve Goratrix here).
Hm. Well. Saulot is apparently in a research centre outside Sydney. Apparently we're mostly chill with vampires, aside from Christians XD Go figure!
Apparently it's a cloning facility. One of the rooms had, past tense, a child, successfully cloned six-year-old, who was in perfect physical form but vegetative from birth. Religious characters will pick up that it's because the kid's body didn't have a soul. Now, it does - Saulot's. Having been thrown out of Tremere's body when the Eldest took over, his soul fled until it could find the most suitable vessel - a soulless cloned body. No actual soul to have to subdue. Saulot ends up reborn, albeit in the form of a six-year-old and without any memories. Turns out, the child was taken by a cult of Thinbloods, believing him to be the messiah.
Sydney's messy situation gets described here! Short version, Sydney's Prince is/was Sarrasine, who was a Toreador. Except he wasn't a Toreador, it was a fairly open secret he was only POSING as a Toreador - he was actually a Caitiff. (Except he's not actually a Caitiff. He's a sixth-gen Setite. Sydney is Like That, yes.) Given Sydney's independence from the sects and its apparent Caitiff Prince, it's become a major site of Caitiff and Thinbloods, which Sarrasine is just thrilled about but can't do anything about because he doesn't want to actually go 'lol I'm a Setite'. Anyway, either way, everyone is unaware of Saulot's return, so the players seek out the little boy, who's pretty spooked and confused. Asks the characters, "Who are you? What is this place? What do all these people want?" and his third eye opens. Tada! Salubri Antediluvian, and like the prophecy mentioned, he's 'unholy' and 'a mockery in the face of God' - a clone.
Back to London with kid!Saulot. The Nephtali have been trying to work out what tf is going on. A researcher tried drinking from the vial. It was messy. The characters might get some downtime. Sarrasine's followers may attack to try and get the kiddo back. Either way, everyone goes to bed, and wakes up to find a Darkness having overtaken the sun, which is generally not good for anyone, and Lasombra characters are just, feels bad man. The Veil of Darkness means vampires can be up 24/7, along with other things that don't like sunlight, and I imagine things like... plants not being thrilled. Also probably very confused animals. I'm not sure if it's like a dark atmosphere, or a physical body between the sun and Earth that just eclipses it whatever vantage point you look from, or what? Disciplines like Auspex, Obfuscate, and Obtenebration go a bit fucky. Then, a few days later, everyone feels a... Summons. For low-generation vampires with still-living Antediluvians, it's strongest. Higher gens with destroyed Antes, not so bad. So I'm sure you can guess what's summoning them.
Yep. Antediluvians. Banu Haqim are getting summoned to Alamut instead so Ur-Shulgi can turn them into an army against the Antediluvians, so godspeed resisting that, Elijah.
Off to the city of Gehenna (it's nearish Jerusalem). Elders of all stripes have been heading there to kill their childer in hope of being rewarded by their Antediluvians to get their powers restored, which is terribly rude. Indeed, the Antediluvians basically go, hey, can you not, and also can you start Embracing more childer for our armies, because they're not very nice either. Pretty much all the characters have been summoned for their crimes against the Antediluvians, and now they're gathered before them - Set, [Lasombra], Ennoia, Absimiliard, Malkav (as like... a cluster of identical little girls with glowing eyes because of course Malkav would use the Creepy Child trope), and [Toreador], who's so beautiful no one can tell if they're male or female. When the players and child!Saulot get there, they question him, but he's literally a six-year-old boy and is spooked. He also has the vial, somehow. Set takes it, and Kiddo says, "Don't drink it. You'll burn up." So Set makes Kiddo drink it instead, because he's a nice guy like that.
Kiddo's third eye opens. A giant black throne appears. The dozen small girls that are Malkav say, "Father's home." Kiddo!Saulot says, "No, Father's dead." Girls start screaming so loud people start bleeding thick black blood from their ears and doesn't stop until Set kills all twelve. A random stranger, now with their glowing eyes, steps forward and basically goes 'wow rude'.
Powerful beam of light appears. The Antes (aside from Kiddo!Saulot) writhe in pain. Angel appears, asks Saulot if he's willing to atone for all vampires. He agrees. Throne explodes, Antes fuckin' die, and everyone promptly frenzies and tries to eat each other, because vampires. In the aftermath of that, vampirism basically... ends. The player characters may be rewarded by becoming human again, as do a lot of Thinbloods, but most everyone older just, uh, dies. Vampirism ends, but the Earth has been saved.
That is... hmm, bittersweet, I think. It's a pretty compelling chronicle, very dramatic, but it's much less character-based and is more, 'the characters get dragged along to Do Shit'. I kind of like the idea of it being a story involving the characters we know, but for original characters, I think Wormwood is a much more compelling scenario so far.
Chapter 5 - The Crucible of God: Okay I'm tired now and this is the 'rocks fall everyone dies' scenario so gonna skim-read this one.
This is the chapter that introduces the level 10 power for all disciplines - Plot Device. The Antediluvians can do shit because they feel like it. Whew. Also, if an Ante spots anyone of their blood line, they can just make them... explode and their blood gushes into their mouth. Monch monch. Spot another clan mate? Roll to avoid frenzy. Just woke up? Roll to avoid frenzy. Good times!
And then the Tzimisce Antediluvian awoke as a mass of Vicissitude flesh fungal infestation with tentacles and lampray mouths and stuff and ate anything in reach until it ate, uh, every living thing in Manhattan. In one night. Bad day tbh. Eventually it burns when the sun rises, but what's left underground is still there and shit's still messed up. Like picking a leaf off a dandelion and it starts bleeding. Trees with faces, swarms of insects forming into eyes and watching. Nice and creepy. In the aftermath, it's basically infecting every life form on Earth with Vicissitude, which is distinctly uncool.
Absimliard has an animal army and currently looks like a giant humanoid jellyfish.
Oh boy here's the Banu Haqim part XD;; Interestingly, it's a lot better for them! Haqim doesn't eat his childer, they feel themselves strongly bonded to him but still maintain their own minds and wills. Downside, anyone who doesn't follow Haqim alone gets hunted down so he can eat them, so Ur-Shulgi's probably having a field day at being vindicated and poor Pyre/Elijah is hiding tf under the bed. Plus side, it only lasts a few months before something kills Haqim, so hey! And there's genuinely a way to become human again, especially for high-humanity, high-gen vampires, so that actually would be a genuinely good outcome for Pyre/Elijah.
Malkavians end up as a giant hive mind. Like, more than usual. [Lasombra] covers the world in darkness, then it stops. Ennoia merges with the entire planet and starts eating people. And vampires. And Methuselah. And other Antediluvians. She's kinda hangry at this point.
Tremere attempts to rule the entire world using the Human Genome Project as the true name of the entirety of humanity. It lasts about two minutes before [Tzimisce] turns him into a meat crime, along with, uh, the entire rest of the world, aside from the players, who were part of Tremere's ritual and thus immune from it.
Also Saulot, who they just met in the form of a little old man.
Turns out, he planned it all along. Lured Tremere to him, knowing that his body was tainted by using Tzimisce blood to become a vampire. Knew that when the Eldest returned, he'd be succeptable, and Saulot would be able to bounce out when the Eldest took over. Now, he can lead the characters in the only way to stop Planet Tzimisce, which is, uh, prayer and letting themselves get eaten. Could actually work! And you end up human again in the bargain!
End result - all vampires gone. Some of the more human ones do end up human again. Either way, world's still fucked. Open Antediluvian rule for several months has destroyed most of humanity. There are still remnants - former Malkavians who are still a bit weird, former Tzimisce who are a bit... Vicissitudey. Ennoia's still around! She's mostly chill except when she occasionally feels like rearranging landscapes. Otherwise, it's time to recover.
Alternate endings - that last one wasn't depressing enough, so here's a scenario where All Is Tzimisce, here's one where there's global extinction of literally everything except the player characters who gradually drop into torpor and never recover (or just flat out burn if they're outside), or there's one where the players are the only vampires left and start a new cycle with them as the new Antediluvians or something, oh and Caine's still kicking and is Very Displeased that God won't let him die already. Gooood times!
Rest is how to basically play it, and character sheets. Which go back to calling Sascha ‘it’ again *sigh* (And using the whole alien look despite explicitly mentioning that they look human again. Of course.)
So, final thoughts! Gehenna is... an interesting scenario. Lots of possibility for introspection. It’s very... apocalyptic, and that may bother a lot of people, since, well, for the most part, it’s going to be the end of playing your character as a vampire. Which I figure most people are playing Vampire the Masquerade for. So it’s basically either a hell of a finale, or you just don’t make use of it.
Favourite scenario did end up being Wormwood. I just really like the introspection and opportunity for hope. Did also enjoy Nightshade, but in a different way, I think? Like for Nightshade, I’d rather read it as existing characters working together, maybe as a novel, whereas for Wormwood I’d want to play it since it’s such an intensely personal kind of thing.
(I also still want a slumber party AU ngl.)

Lullaby OC’s: The Diamonds
Lullaby Masterlist II Neutral OC’s II The Clubs II Extra OC’s
Introductions to the All female Officer Army - The Diamonds
Azure Cantu: The Short but Passionate King of Diamonds and Protector of Lullaby
Age: 22
Pairing: Ray Blackwell
Description: She’s the shortest out of all the armies, with black hair that has colorful streaks that change depending on her mood or element she uses. Her eyes are heterochromatic, one silver and the other gold. Her skin is pale with freckles, and four moles make a diamond under each of her eyes. She likes Victorian or steampunk dresses in black or red, with roses as accents. Her style could be described as ‘gothic Lolita’. Black knee-high combat boots are always seen on her no matter what, even at formal gatherings.
Summary: Having been born into the Cantu family, she was always destined to be the King of Diamonds. From the age of four, she’s been practicing with blades and weapons. She passed at the top of her class in Diamond Academy, and started choosing her officers as they all started passing the school as well. She’s very passionate about protecting Lullaby, and will do anything to protect her citizens. She is quite close with the children of the other four original families that came to Lullaby: Aspen, Soleil, Venus, and Divinate.
Serenity Aspen: The Kind and Butterfly-like Queen of Diamonds and Head of the Barrier Branch
Age: 25
Pairing: Lancelot Kingsley
Description: Her skin is tanned and flawless, minus a birthmark on her arm. Her hair is dark brown with caramel highlights, and usually kept up in a high ponytail or braid. She’s tall and lanky, but toned.
Summary: Like Azure, Serenity’s been groomed from a young age to become the Queen of Diamonds. She’s mastered all of the blunt weapons at her disposal, preferring to not draw blood. She is alright with a blade and can defend herself if the need arises. She has a natural aura that draws people to her, and is considered the ‘mom’ of the Diamonds. She’s always been a bit protective of her little brother, but lets him live his life who he wants, as long as he promises not to die before her. She’s like a butterfly, between being the Queen of Diamonds and working as the Head of the Barrier Branch of the IOM.
Lunarye Star: The Reserved and Kind Jack of Diamonds
Age: 25
Pairing: Edgar Bright
Description: She has flawless olive skin minus a mole on her left cheek. She possesses amber gold eyes and has long wavy black hair streaked with a varying amount of blue, purple and teal streaks. She likes wearing white button ups and loose blue skirts, one that allows her easy movement. Prefers her hair down with just a headband keeping it out of her face.
Summary: Calm and reserved, she is the older of a set of twins. She is the exact opposite of her sister, the Ace of Diamonds, in every way. Preferring to use dual blades among other weapons, she can catch air currents and move earth to make her swords look like an elegant deadly dance. Not originally from Lullaby she wishes nothing more than for Lullaby and Cradle to reach an agreement. Fun fact: despite being twins with Solaria, they’re technically considered born on different days since Lunarye was born a few minutes before midnight while Solaria was born after midnight, therefore different days but the same night.
Mei Venus: The Girly and Fashionable Ten of Diamonds
Age: 26
Pairing: Aro Shielde
Description: Pale and fair skin that every girl envies, she looks just like a K-pop idol. Big warm gray eyes, a button nose, full rosy lips, and supple cheeks. Everyone is attracted to her looks, be it a girl or a boy. Her hair is originally black, but she’s dyed it a warm brown. It falls around her shoulders in fluffy waves. Mei might be the only girl in the Diamonds Army who always wears makeup and looks as if she’s on a runway instead of an army. She can pull off any look, from the sweet, innocent girl to the mature, sexy lady, to the messy college-girl look, and to the rich, high-end noble lady. Her makeup skills are scary, she can even pass off as other people form a distance. She’s the only one who can pull off fighting in stilettos. It scares all the other officers.
Summary: Despite being born into the Venus family, one of the original five families that founded Lullaby and the family in charge of producing the Ten of Diamonds, she’s always loved fashion instead of fighting. From a young age, she aspired to be a fashion designer, and it didn’t help that her aunt was a fashion fanatic and a famous fashion critic. And so, to please both her mother who wanted her to be an officer and her inner self that wanted to pursue fashion, she’s incorporated both into her daily military life. She requires all her ladies to look presentable, whether it’s just making sure their hair is neat and straightened or putting on full-glam makeup. Her fighting style is also unique, elegant and beautiful instead of being a fierce battle. Quite captivating.
Saiya Shade: The Official Night Owl and Vampiric Nine of Diamonds
Age: 26
Pairing: Avi Gatilin
Description: Dark skin with piercing emerald eyes. She has dyed black hair that is usually up in a ponytail out of the way. She is lean and very toned. She wears a lot of black out of uniform, preferring to cover up as much skin as possible. She prefers trousers to skirts or a dress and doesn’t like heeled combat boots. Her only “girly” accessory is the moonflower pin in her hair she constantly wears as a reminder of who she is and her top priority.
Summary: The daughter of two night mission based officers, Saiya was conditioned for nightlife. Only awake from the hours of 4pm - 8am, she runs one of the night units. She loves the darkness, embracing her dark/nature elements, and using the combo as a perfect advantage to be a sneak and informant. She comes off as a hardass and scary, but she is secretly a sweetheart who knows all about what happens at night, and behind closed doors.
Floria Hanshaw: The Gentle and Pacifist Eight of Diamonds
Age: 26
Pairing: Married to Kayne Hanshaw
Description: Tanned skin that used to be ivory, she is short and curvy. She has blonde hair that varies depending on the amount of sun it sees and light jade eyes. She wears a lot of ruffles and cottage core dresses. She always dresses gracefully and looks incredibly sweet. She bounces between both the skirt and pants version of the uniform. Always wearing flat boots so she doesn’t sink in the mud.
Summary: A sweet and gentle soul, Floria has an air about her that causes people and animals to flock to her for comfort. She is very sweet and gentle, rarely ever getting mad, unless Lullaby, or her family is threatened. Married to the three of Clubs and has a daughter named Lily. She is extremely charismatic and is considered the ‘ideal’ housewife.
Iris Breeze: The Naïve and Blind Seven of Diamonds
Age: 22
Pairing: Luka Clemence
Description: Flawless ivory skin with black hair, streaked in rainbow. She’s tall, toned, with curves for days. Her eyes are pure white, but rainbows dance in them whenever she uses magic or her abilities. She usually wears the Diamonds uniform with the skirt and kitten heels, rainbow colored accents everywhere. In her hair is a diamond hair clip that can reflect light in rainbows. It can store light for her to use in battle.
Summary: Iris has a hint of naivety to her, a naivety and innocence, as if she hasn’t ever seen the terrors of the world. That’s a lie. Her sight was stolen from her before she was rescued by Lullaby, it was only because Serenity took her under her wing that Iris was able to adjust to life blind. She can see light and shadows, and has the ability to see the magical auras around her. Even those who aren’t born with magic give off faint auras for her to locate. Her blades have rainbow magic flowing through them. With her light and air abilities, she can create illusions to disorient her enemies. They have no effect on her, since she’s blind.
Amari Darra: The Gun Maniac and Hot Headed Six of Diamonds
Age: 24
Pairing: Fenrir  Godspeed
Description: She is extremely little and lithe at only 5’4”. She is much stronger than she looks though and has bright baby blue eyes. Platinum blond ringlets are kept out of her face with a red headband. She wears a lot of bright Lolita dresses, gravitating toward red, orange and gold prints. She pairs her look with white stockings and matching flats. For her uniform she wears black fingerless gloves, heeled boots and trousers with a cropped officer jacket.
Summary: An absolute ball of chaos, she is hyper, energetic and friendly. Her friendly personality draws people in and makes her really easy to get along with.  She is a firecracker when set off though and has quite a temper when her friends are in danger and will do anything to protect them. In uniform though she is an extremely skilled fighter. Preferring guns, she summons twin gold pistols that shoot any type of bullet she summons. Her bullets always leave a silver residue behind, whether the target is dead or alive. Has limited missions with the Aces because those three are too chaotic together.
Elizabeth Leilani: The Shy and Angelic Five of Diamonds Medic
Age: 23
Pairing: Harr Silver
Description: Average with curves and is really strong. She has Emerald eyes hidden behind silver round glasses and is pale with a ton of freckles across her cheeks. Long, auburn hair is pulled back in two French braids. She wears emerald green dresses with black heels and stockings. She always has a messenger bag with first aid supplies and extra crystals. She likes the uniform skirt and flats, choosing to trade in her officer jacket for a lab coat with her medals and crystals.
Summary: The best healer in Lullaby, Elizabeth is an extremely strong hybrid, using nature, light and water elements. She is incredibly timid, with a calm aura about her. She will never take a life, and heals anyone no matter who they are or what they’ve done. She is very devoted to nature, being a vegetarian due to a meat allergy. Her brother is the Jack of Clubs and she worries endlessly for him.
Isabella Wynter: The Cold and Serious Four of Diamonds
Age: 26
Pairing: Jacob Raven
Description: She is an average 5’5” with a bit of muscle and icy, glacier blue eyes. Her hair is naturally black, but she dyes it a platinum blonde. She wears basic casual clothes, usually opting for trousers over a skirt or dress. She likes the non heeled combat boots and always wears black leather gloves.
Summary: She is very cold and serious, barely warming up to anyone. She has a fierce loyalty to Lullaby and will protect it no matter what. She is good with verbal fights, always knowing how to hurt the worst with her words. She is proficient in many types of weapons, often testing them out for Jacob. A bit of a tsundere, but the Lullaby officers know she means well and let her show her affections in her own way.
Sylvia Pointe: The Elegant and Deadly Three of Diamonds
Age: 26
Pairing: Jonah Clemence
Description: flawless fair skin that tans easily, but doesn’t have a blemish in sight. She is tall (5’7”) and lanky with muscles in her arms and legs. Her long dirty blonde hair with peach tips is usually up in a silver ribbon and out of her face. She wears high end dresses and silver heels out of uniform. In uniform she opts for flat combat boots and trousers.
Summary: She is very calm and reserved, elegant and poised at all times. She was  a perfect lady and it shows in everything she does. She is a massive perfectionist, and very rarely loses her cool. She is very passive aggressive, but non confrontational. She is the best swordsman in Lullaby and her moves are elegant and poised, looking like a quick deadly dance.
Violette Mercia: The Mysterious and Mature Two of Diamonds
Age: 23
Pairing: Loki Genetta
Description: Her hair is raven black, but there are a few purple streaks through it, to match with her name, Violette. Her eyes are a rare, silver color, something you don’t come across every day. She’s tanned and her skin is flawless, minus a few scars here and there. She isn’t fond of heels but does like wearing purple colored gothic dresses and outfits.
Summary: Drop her in the middle of nowhere and she’ll be able to survive perfectly fine. That’s an ability that a lot of officers are puzzled about. How does she know which plants are poisonous in the Forbidden Forest as though she lived there her whole life? It’s a mystery. With a mature and serious personality, she seems hard to get along with, but has a hidden playful side that only a certain few (wink wink, nudge nudge) can bring out. She has a soft side for children at the IOL, and is quite close to the IOL Dean, Axel Divinate.
Solaria Star: The Chaotic and Feisty Ace of Diamonds
Age: 25
Pairing: Dynite Spark
Description: Similar to her sister, she has olive skin with a mole on her right cheek. Her normally long black hair is streaked with all shades of orange, red and yellow, reflecting fire. She likes wearing black and gold steampunk skirts and corsets. The skirts have to fall above her knees and she will not wear a dress unless forced too. She keeps a holster on each thigh no matter what. One for her summoned gun and one for her tranquilizer. Her uniform is trousers and heeled combat boots.
Summary: She is the exact opposite of her twin. She is loud, wild and charismatic. She loves to spar and cannot sit still. She has a quick temper and is feisty when riled up. She is extremely protective of Lullaby and is not allowed to run missions with the Ace of Clubs because they are too chaotic together. She was ranked after graduating the Diamond Academy at the top of her class, beating everyone including her sister. She uses fire and air, becoming an extremely destructive force when riled up, changing her style to keep opponents on her toes. Fun fact: despite being twins with Lunarye, they’re technically considered born on different days since Solaria was born a few minutes after midnight while Lunarye was born before midnight, therefore different days but the same night.

67. “Speak for me again, and I’ll punch you in the throat.”  For Ell x John pwease 😌
skdjhfsdlf gosh i just!! hmmm!!! just love u to bits u always seem to know what my heart needs and i think that is honestly very delightful of u. send me a prompt + a pairing and i’ll write a warm-up blurb!
john/ell + “speak for me again and i’ll punch you in the throat”, set pre/no-cult AU, as a follow up to this blurb here. no warnings other than the insinuation john would like to pass on his genes, and also elliot’s mouth (lol).
words: 1.4k yes i am the mayor of clown town
The afternoon was going as smoothly as could be expected. Scarlet was on her fifth drink—Vodka martini, dry, “no olives, please, John”—and where most of the time John would have thought that drinking would make someone as ostensibly obnoxious as Scarlet Honeysett more bearable, it, in fact, accomplished the opposite. Alcohol did not soften Scarlet, but somehow managed to make her more sharp.
Out of the frying pan, John thought dryly, setting the glass down in front of her.
“You know, you’re very good at mixing drinks,” Scarlet remarked. “Do you have practice? Bartended before?”
“No, I just enjoy a nice cocktail,” John replied lightly, clearing his throat as he sat back down, glancing back in the kitchen where Elliot was making herself a drink. Just moments ago, she’d dragged him in there for a nice, secret little moment—but like always with these kinds of affairs, her absence was quickly noticed, and they’d gotten drawn back out into the bustle. “Have you, Scarlet?”
“Oh, don’t be silly, I’d never,” she replied, laughing as though it were cute he’d thought that she might have. “You’ve just got the look of one, you know.” She lifted her glass to her lips, and then added, “A bartender. It must be the tattoos and the ear piercing. You hardly look like a lawyer.”
John stifled a sigh and fanned the shirt away from his chest, feigning as though it were the afternoon heat and not irritation that was drawing the breath out of him. He had just opened his mouth to divert the conversation—a thing he’d done several times that evening already, perhaps evidence enough of his skills as a lawyer—when Elliot returned, saying, “Mama, you’re being obnoxious.”
“I’m not,” Scarlet defended. “Come here, bunny. Did you cut your hair? You know I love it long.”
It was like this, always. No amount of sweet-talking would have brought Scarlet into the fold for him; she was as impervious to charm as she was apparently to alcohol poisoning, unfortunately, which meant she was living long and remaining a thorn in his side until her long-awaited passing.
She really liked Jacob. For whatever fucking reason. It only served to make John more determined to try and win her over, even when he felt like his attempts were fruitless.
As Elliot explained that no, she had not cut her hair, her mother just hadn’t seen it in a few months, he heard Scarlet say, “Oh, I expect I’ll have grandbabies at this table soon anyway, then I’ll be seeing you all the time. Don’t you think, Elliot?”
Oh? John thought, swallowing a mouthful of his drink. Scarlet wants grandkids, is that all?
“Oh,” Elliot said, blinking owlishly. “I—”
“Absolutely,” John said, without thinking, because there was no way he wasn’t taking an in with Scarlet when he saw one. It was an instant rush of dopamine to see Scarlet look at him with anything other than thinly-veiled contempt, let alone with pleasant surprise.
“We’re—” Elliot stopped and looked at him, as though he’d just sprouted a third arm. “We’ve only—it’s—we’re not in a rush—”
“But it would be fine,” John continued, “if we were. Planning, I mean.” His eyes darted from Elliot to Scarlet. “For kids.”
Joey said serenely, “John and Elliot have always been on the same page. Very like-minded individuals.”
“Well, Hudson, I don’t think that’s fair,” John defended plainly, “as we all know you’ve barely gotten to know me.”
“Don’t need to,” Joey replied, not having looked up from her plate once, “to know you’re not trying to get Elliot pregnant and you’re just pulling it out of your ass to get Scarlet to like you.”
“You wouldn’t know,” he snapped.
“So,” Scarlet said, feigning confusion, “you are planning to have children soon, then? Bunny?”
“We’re not!” Elliot exclaimed. She groaned, trying to gather herself before she continued hurriedly, “John and I haven’t bothered talking about children because we’re not in a hurry. We don’t have a plan. We’re not planning anything. Right? John?”
John busied himself with his food. He still felt the petulant little sting from Hudson’s words—he knew she didn’t like him—but with Scarlet looking at him, clearly leaving an opening for them to be in agreement about something, well. He’d be stupid not to take it, wouldn’t he?
“Of course, baby,” he replied casually, “but no reason in waiting, either.”
Scarlet looked pleased. An expression of understanding crossed Elliot’s face; and it wasn’t that she was pleased to know what he was doing—but that she understood he was trying to squirm his way into her mother’s good books, and that alone was enough to set her off.
She said, “Excuse me,” before abruptly pushing her chair out. John sighed.
“Elliot,” he started, reaching for her hand.
She yanked it out of his reach and said, under the sound of Joey chatting pleasantly with Scarlet about the older woman’s garden, “Don’t fucking touch me.”
Her words were venomous. John was certain that Scarlet heard her, too—if the quick, furtive glance their way was any kind of indication—which only made them sting more,  like maybe her mother had wanted them to be at odds this whole time and he’d just done exactly that. And hearing Elliot say that kind of thing to him when she so frequently confided in him that she found his touch to be grounding, calming to her just made it all the worse.
John retracted his hand, reluctantly, and instead picked up his beverage from the table to take a big swallow. He let a minute or so pass, muddling his way through Joey’s pleasant conversation with Elliot’s mother and her own parents before he cleared his throat and said, “I’ll be right back.”
“I think that’s best,” Scarlet replied, and sipped her martini.
Inhaling through his nose, John made his way back into the house—this time, under less-fun pretenses; last time he’d been following Elliot to slide his hands up under her skirt, but now she’s—
“Are you fucking stupid?” Elliot demanded once he’d stepped foot inside the kitchen.
“Don’t be mad,” he tried, reaching for her, “I was just working the—”
“If you say working the room in reference to telling my mother we are planning on having children soon,” the blonde ground out, tugging her arms out of reach of his hands, “you’d better pick a god and start fucking praying, John Seed.”
“Okay! I’m sorry!” John exclaimed. “Your mom really hates me. I saw an opportunity to score some points, and I went for it. You missed the whole conversation earlier where she asked me if having tattoos means I go to hell, according to Joseph.”
Elliot stared at him. She was clearly still pissed off, arms crossed over her chest and a pretty, frustrated little blush rising in her cheeks. John lifted his hands, like he was afraid of spooking her (or maybe preparing to dodge a blow), before he said, “I’m sorry. I’ll go right out there and tell her in no uncertain terms will I be fucking a baby into you any time soon.”
“Good,” she snapped, letting his hands come to her face now. He cradled his palms against her cheeks, watching the little furrow of her brows, the way the blush under her cheeks made her freckles come to life.
“Unless you want me to,” John added, tucking some hair behind her ear, “because that’s pretty sexy, and we can do it right here in this kitchen, if you’d like.”
“Speak for me again, and I’ll punch you in the throat.”
“O-kay, message received loud and clear.” He leaned down and pressed a kiss to the corner of her mouth, chaste and innocent as can be. “So, no fucking in the kitchen?”
“John.”
“Okay, okay, just checking.” He could feel her smiling reluctantly against his mouth, and he said, “So you want me to go out there and make a big fool of myself in front of your mom, huh?”
Elliot sighed. “I know she’s—a lot. I know she’s not kind to you. But please,  please do not entertain this weird legacy fantasy that she has. You know she doesn’t even want me to take someone else’s last name? It’s fucking insane. Honeysett isn’t even her maiden name.”
John hummed in understanding, and then kissed her once, twice, three times. “For you, I will suffer the consequences of my actions,” he promised. “But for you and only you.” He saluted dutifully. “Into the fire.”
She watched him, mouth twisting in amusement as he wandered towards the patio’s sliding door again. “Godspeed, soldier.”
He heaved a sighed.
“It’s not much, but it’s honest work.”

HEADCANONS MEME: DATING EDITION !!
where they first met and how: The tundra is full of prehistoric grimm so there gotta be something out there related to Barty’s field/interest? I think he needs an Ace Op escort, no? Here, take the flirty one what can go wrong?
how long their ‘flirting’ phase was before feelings got involved: I think long because Clover loves to tease, especially ppl who are timid/trying to hide the fact they’re attracted to him. It’s a game of cat and mouse a little bit.
who fell for who first (if applicable): I think they both did at the same time.
where their first date was and what it was like: I really don’t know. Does an archeology mission count?
who asks who out and how (with a sign? spelled out on a cake? just a simple ‘will you go out with me’?): I believe this was Barty and Clover did not seeing it coming at all and it’s one of my favorite memories.
who proposes first: i want to say neither but we talked about this concept vaguely one time and would love to continue one day maybe eue
if they keep/kept their relationship secret or let everyone know right away: i don’t think either of them would hide it.
where the proposal happens and how (kiss cam at a baseball game? on a hillside surrounded by ducks? at a disney park?): N/A
if they adopt any pets together: cats so many cats
who’s more dominant: sorry reju I think Clover again uvu
where their first kiss was and what it was like: in barty’s office and it was cute and a pile of books got knocked over maybe because it got a little hot maybe
if they have any matching couples stuff (mugs? sweaters? pillowcases?): bro idk they both green this isn’t fair TvT they can’t exchange colors i’m sad
how into pda they are: Clover just wanna hold hands, pls give hand ;u;
who holds the umbrella when it rains: Barty Tol
where their usual ‘date spot’ is ( if applicable ): A cafe? Library?
who’s more protective: Clover
how long it is before they sleep together (can be as in ‘had sex’ or as in ‘shared a bed’):  not long? I think they’re really into each other once they know they like each other.
if they argue about anything: uh barty’s a faunus and clover works for a kingdom notorious for shitty faunus’ right. there’s a lot to unpack.
who leaves more marks (lipstick, hickeys, scratchmarks etc.): Clover
who steals whose clothes and how often: barty
how they cuddle (spooning? facing each other?): any sort of position where Clover can run his fingers through barty’s pretty rainbow plumage
what their favorite nonsexual activity is: clover listening to Barty’s pre-lecture or his thesis paper or the books he’s reading. you know, the safe for work kind.
how long they stay mad at each other: LONG they both stubborn
what their usual coffee/tea orders are: Clover loves plain green tea and black tea with milk and honey. Barty likes coffee with cream and a lot of sugar, right? They also bond over boba tea and honestly couple goals man
if they ever have any children together:  nope uwu
if they have any special pet names for each other: Clover doesn’t do nicknames
if they ever split up and/or get back together: if they break up, i can see them maybe making up and getting back together, but i can also see them after the break up as that ex you may find yourself waking up the next morning and saying it was just for the night or a mistake idk.
what their shared living space is like (messy? clean? what kind of decor?): Clover has a level of organization and Barty is messy, but claims it’s at a level of organization he understands. Sure jan.
what their first christmas/hanukkah/etc as a couple was like: N/A
what their names are in each other’s phones: They use each other’s names.
if they have any ‘couple traditions’ ( buying a new mug for their collection every year? baking every friday evening?): N/A
who falls asleep first and who wakes up first: I can see them both as early birds.
who’s the big spoon / little spoon: Clover wants to be the big spoon for the toll bean sprout
who hogs the bathroom: Qrow, change my mind.
who kills the spiders/takes them outside: Look, Barty would fight a stapler. Clover takes the spiders and stapler outside.

What the Water Gave Me
Santiago’s particular brand of immortality is heavily inspired by the ABC show ‘Forever’ which aired in 2014. It only ever got one season, in spite of it being pretty awesome. So, enjoy!
@the-roanoke-society
No one really ever gave him much more than a passing glance. A mechanic is sort of a given, given the scale of the Society’s operations, Santi thought. And he was perfectly happy to work in the background. Someone had to help the less adept agents with the upkeep of their chosen mode of transportation. He mostly left Agent Arizona to her own devices, same for Agent Sprite. All he really did for them was machining and fabrication of spare helicopter parts and weapons.     But the real work was tech like that which was found in the engine of a certain half-angel’s motorcycle, and the real fun was the upkeep of the classic and modern cars, both for the agents on assignment, and those who needed a reliable ride to get them wherever they needed to go to forget the horror and not-so-happy endings they faced on a monthly, weekly, or even daily basis.
So, when he finally came out of his garage to join the agents in the manor for dinner on a spring day, he’s a little shocked to be regarded with such curiosity. He’s always been here, they just never really noticed. Particularly the younger agents that were apparently Elfin and Jackalope’s kids. How time flew... Last time he thought about Tiffany, he had just watched her drive off in a tricked-out powder blue Cadillac. And then a year later watched Agent Nephilim park that same car in the corner of the garage as a sort of memorial to an agent who wasn’t allowed to remember. It was still there, as far as he knew, safe under her dust cover.
“So, how did you get here? And how long ago? What’s your ‘Thing’?” Carter asked across the table, unaware of the unspoken agreement that Santi had with pretty much every other agent present.     “I- well- longer than you’ve been around, for sure.” he replied, not really wanting to get into it at the moment. Especially not in front of that cute new recruit. Bracken, wasn’t that his name?     “Carter…” Joan rumbled, a tone of warning cast the boy’s way, and a look of concern for his friend. Memories of cold water and darkness sprang to his ancient mind, and he couldn’t imagine what memories Santi must hold.
“Whaaat? I can’t ask questions now? That’s not fair.” Carter pouted, wincing when his sister lightly whacked his shoulder.     “Not everyone has to answer your questions.” Parker said coolly. “Sorry.”     “No, it’s fine. I just- Yeah. It’s not exactly a topic for dinner conversation. Don’t- Don’t feel bad. You couldn’t be expected to know.” Santi pushed back his plate and sat back in his chair for a split second before taking off for the door.  Joan gave Carter a look and followed after Santi. He went back to the garage and up to his room in the loft above, locking the door and sitting on the floor in front of it so no one could come in and disturb him.       “Davies, there’s still someone in there. Ed is still in there. We have to get him. Please.” one of the firemen begged, clinging to his arm as the floor started to pitch at a growing angle. Santi shooed him away and struggled to lift the heavy door.
This boat was supposed to be unsinkable. This wasn’t meant to happen. This was wrong. As if the fire burning uncontrollably in the hull for the past two days hadn’t been enough of an omen.  There’s a sharp lurch as the steel buckled further, and the water continued to flood the holds. Santi pushed the men away.     “Get to the boats if you can, the lot of you. Hurry. There’s not much time. I’ll get him and meet you on deck.”     “Yes sir.”     “Godspeed.” Santi thought to himself, finally managing to crack the door, only to be met with a rush of steam as the water put out the engines. “Ed?!? Ed, come on, we’re getting you up to the deck.” He shouted above the hissing steam and the screech of warping metal. No response. Upon further scouring of the scene, Ed’s limp form was visible, floating facedown in the ash-blackened water. Santi was about to turn back, when he thought better of it. The ship was lost. He wouldn’t want to be trapped in the hull for eternity. This was no decent grave. He slipped into the icy water and hauled the body up onto his shoulders. At least they could both be recovered and given a decent burial if the distress signals were ever received by anybody. It took some doing, but he managed to get up to the lower deck.
Not nearly far enough.
Nowhere near the boats. He had to leave Ed behind. He could hear men and women calling for help, all third class passengers who had been left to fend for themselves. He had to at least try to help some of them. It’s 1:30 AM on April 15th, 1912.
Joan knocked on the bedroom door. “Davies? Open up. Please.” He rested his forehead against the door.     “Not now. I can’t. No-” He said, fighting to control his breathing.     “That’s an order.”
Santi wordlessly scooted over so the door could swing inward.     “I can still hear them.” he whispered after Joan settled on the floor beside him. Somehow, the man still towered over him even when sitting down. “Why can I still hear them?”     “I wish I could tell you. But you’re here and they’re not. Let the dead stay dead.” he said solemnly. All those innocents left for dead because of class difference and poor timing; it still upset him if he thought on it for too long.
“I should have died. Why couldn’t I have stayed dead? Surely one of them deserved what I ended up with…” Santi dragged a hand over his face as he got his breathing under control. Joan nodded in agreement.     “I’m sure one of them did. But you survived, and they didn’t. There’s bound to be a reason for that.”
“Oh, I’m sure being the eternal mechanic is a grand destiny.” Santi snarked, wiping at his nose with the back of his hand.     “Hey, maybe it is. You don’t know. And you might not ever know for sure. But in the meantime, you do pretty nice work.”     “You just say that because of that bike I rigged for you back in the day.” he laughed, forgetting the sadness and the mystery of his situation for a moment. It still gave Joan a pretty puzzle to ponder over.
2:15
Santi struggled to keep his footing as the ship began to go down bow-first. He was lucky enough to be near a railing. He closed his eyes, hearing the panicked screams of those who slid down the length of the deck into the water below. The lights on board slowly flickered out, causing even more of an outcry amidst the rush of water and the thrashing of the unfortunates floating in the freezing water. Alone, in the dark, flares ignored, and with no functional radio to call for help. Santi braced himself as the ship slid beneath the surface. The impact with the surface seemed to be the worst of it. And then he realized how little control he had over his limbs.
2:20
He had never been so cold in his life. The pull of the water took him under briefly with the ship.
He couldn’t help the reflexive gasp that filled his lungs with bitter water. And then he was gone. Or so he thought. He awakened at the surface, sans life-vest. Sans...clothes in general. But as the minutes ticked by, the cold seeped in, muscles seized, and he couldn’t keep afloat for long. Cardiac arrest set in and he sank below the waves again.
3:40
Would there be no end to this? What was happening? It was so still; bodies floated past him in life vests, blank eyes staring up at the stars and into eternity, and Santiago Davies had never wished more for a permanent death. Men, mostly, but a fairly large number of women and children had met their demise in the black water. Santi braced himself for the end again, sobbing in relief when the darkness took over. And then he awoke again.
4:05
When the RMS Carpathia arrived in the area and sent out lifeboats to search for any unlikely survivors, Joan had almost decided against joining the effort. Let the dead tend to their dead, he thought. But the little voice in the back of his mind wouldn’t shut up long enough to let him rest easy. So many lost...
Anger, sadness, but mostly pure shock took over. No survivors, except those in the boats. Did the Creator really think so little of His own creation to let them destroy themselves like this through their own foolish pride? Joan was ready to guide his rescue boat back to the ship when he heard a splash and a pained sob. Sharp dark eyes scanned the water. A survivor? How? The ship sank nearly two hours before, and many died in the first 10 minutes following.     “Over there! Hurry!” Joan ordered the men at the oars. Santiago stared up from the water, shuddering violently, and starting to slip under again.     “Oh no you don’t…” Joan muttered, reaching to grab him by the shoulder and haul him into the boat, but he was no longer there.
Vanished.
“What the hell?”  His head snapped up when he heard another splash as the boy reappears.     “Help- Please, God, please…” Before he can go under again, Joan has reached down and drags Santiago over the gunwale, ignoring the nudity, and draping his own greatcoat over his bare shoulders. Santiago curled in on himself, groaning in pain as he shivered.     “What are you?” Joan asked, immediately suspicious.     “A man. I think. I don’t know- I don’t know. I should be dead. I died. I died. Over and over- fuck.” The memories of being stranded in the watery void brought tears to his eyes and a ragged sob tore loose from his blue lips.
“Breathe. Just breathe. You’re safe now. We’ll sort this.” Joan replied, trying not to ask too many questions. The man has obviously been through a lot. “What’s your name, son?”     “Santiago. Davies.” He looked up at his rescuer. “You?”     “Joan. Just Joan.”
Santiago stands slowly after a few minutes of simply sitting there and breathing. Joan watched him get up and nodded once.     “Better?” He asked, following suit. He could sense Josie waiting just outside the door, and he glanced over. “Jo’s worried. Can we let her in too?” he asked.     “Sure.”     “Santi…” Josie immediately flew through the door, pulling the boy into her arms. “You okay?”
“I will be, eventually. Maybe. Just need a bit.”    “Of course, of course. But Carter is beating himself up, and he feels pretty bad about starting all of this.” Josie said, shaking her head in amusement. Her cousin’s son took everything so seriously when he thought he’d messed up.    “I’ll head back to the manor in a minute. Promise.”    “Good.” Joan slipped an arm around Josie’s waist and guided her back out and across the lawn to the manor. Santi stared at the now-vacant doorway. He supposed he had a few apologies to make for his abrupt departure. But compared to everything else he’s seen and done since that night when Joan pulled him from the water, Carter’s prodding was small fish. He’d get over it.

Personality: Gentle and caring would be the best words to describe Elise Marlowe. The traits very unusual in her family, yet the soft spoken and sweet girl is always with a smile on her face and a forever optimist. Raised in a family of high expectations and a legacy to bear, Elise is very goal-oriented and will find the way to achieve her goals. But unlike the rest of her family, she would never use someone for her own gain. It’s against her morals and she can’t bring herself to harm anyone, no matter their deeds.
Elise is the baby of the family and had always been spoiled but instead of making her into a brat, it further enhanced her inner feeling of needing to give back to the less fortunate than her. Having shown a talent for chemistry and alchemy early on and seeing the possibilities she can use it to help others. She is a very curious woman that could get lost in books or whatever subject she finds interesting.
Aside her good and caring side, she can be stubborn and easily scared of situations she can’t understand. She is not used to not know what’s happening and when something strays from her norm it scares her. She can be too hard-pressed on something to give up, even knowing it’s in vain. Sometimes she can get overly sensitive and let her emotions make decisions rather than her mind. She believes in “actions speak more than words”
In short, Elise is a selfless and caring person that wants to help but sometimes acts before she thinks.
Family and History: Youngest of three children of family, Elise had a childhood many would be envy of. Her family had held the position of 10 of Hearts for generations and had strict rules about which child will inherit the prestigious title of future 10. Marlowes have been among the first families to be established as part of the Red Army in Cradle’s beginnings and have further secured their position by handling pharmaceuticals and providing alchemy services to the citizens. The founder of the family, Augustus Marlowe, established first ever pharmacy in Cradle and his books are used in education of future alchemists and pharmacists. As a founder, he had set rules his descendants were obligated to follow. One of them were to marry people from strickly choosen families to avoid diluting the bloodline. Thanks to this, Marlowe family is also renowned for all family members having eye-catching silver hair and each generation has to provide 3 offspring, of which one has to be a male. These and many more were the rigorous rules that have to be followed.
As the youngest, Elise was utterly spoiled by both her parents and her brother and sister. She got everything she set her eyes on and pointed at with her finger. Despite the overwhelming spoils, she was raised with proper manners and her sister insisted that she should hold herself with dignity and not let her desires get a better or her. Her brother, who is expected to inherit the position of 10 of Hearts, has often read to her and greatly influenced her fashion sense. All three of them used to be close until the fallout between the older siblings. Now, she only remains close with her brother.
As a rule, 3 children are an obligation for Marlowe family. One for the army, one for the alchemy and one for the pharmacy. All children are free to choose which profession they’ll follow, provided that the oldest male heir is sent to the army. At the young age, Elise showed a remarkable talent for chemistry. She was a much quicker learner than the older siblings and her family was overjoyed to have decided on her future so early on. It was a good thing she enjoyed what her future role will ask of her. It only came to finding her a perfect husband down the road.
As a child of nobility and high officer, she had the opportunity to meet with higher and lower ranked officers and through that had met Lancelot, Jonah and Edgar and Luka and later on, Kyle. Same age as Jonah, she attended the same school and same class he had and developed a friendship with the future Queen of Hearts and held his little brother in high regard all up until his betrayal. Due to how her family took a stance against the Clemence family, their friendship took a hit and now, they are slowly trying to bridge that gap. Future Jack had her be his tutor with chemistry outside the school on Claudius Bright’s request for Edgar’s future missions. Through that, she bonded with Edgar and they remained good friends.
Having graduated and set to inherit her family’s pharmacy when her aunt retires, Elise had been put to immense studying for her future job. She found joy in her studies and gladly took everything she was given and looked for some more afterwards. Elise is still very much lives a life she wants and already decided for her, and even if she likes it it, she can’t help feel it’s suffocating to live it.
Skills and Special Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of chemistry and alchemy
Quick reader
Can play the viola
Paired with: Lancelot Kingsley (one-sided ?)*
Life in Cradle: During the day, Elise is tasked with overlooking the family internary and accounting for everything that is lacking. Afterwards she is scheduled for studying for her future employment until lunch. Afterwards she’s usually helping her aunt in the pharmacy. After closing time she is always making sure she visits her ‘brother’ in the barracks. Secretly she sends small medicines or gifts over him to the King, Queen and Jack. She hopes it finds them well. Recently she found that her feelings for the young King of Hearts have resurfaced after seeing him more and more after her ‘brother’s’ enrolment into the army and her heart undeniably skipping a beat. Alas, she knows he is not her intended groom in the future, and if Marlowe puts something above themselves, it’s the family tradition.
* On Elise’s feelings towards Lancelot
Elise had known Lancelot since they were kids throughout various social events her family was invited to along with other families from the red territory. She had considered him a friend but she has never outright called him that, since he was raised to respect him above everything else. As children both were happy to see each other and just have a playmate they could play with before knowing their duty will take over their lives.
That continued through the school years up until they both respectfully graduated. Elise has helped Lancelot with a few tutoring sessions with some of his subjects and had gotten close to him again, just as there were as kids, but has always been more content as his silent supporter from behind. She had also enjoyed making small gifts in form of healthy snacks for him and Jonah when they were all still close back then. At 17, it was the first time she realised she had feelings for him. She didn’t know how it happened but she knew her feelings were strong enough for her to call it live. She fell in love with him due to Lancelot’s selfless actions and kindness, that wasn’t always so obvious at first, but mainly due to what a strong person he was. She admired him for managing to not let his emotions sway him upon his dad’s death, that he carefully considered the best way he could go about things without inconveniencing or causing harm to anybody. And above all, for making a tough decisions when he absolutely had to. Elise knew she never could do that were she in his place, she was far too emotional to be able to think rationality in a situation like so. For most part she idolised him, wanted to be more than friends but she knew she could never. Not only was there a hierarchical difference, she had already been bethroed to someone else.
And yet, she wrote him a letter, detailing her feelings for him in it and left it for him to find. Unsigned of course and let her feelings subside and dull over time, all the while convincing herself that it she had ever told him how she felt it would just end up in rejection. She had wondered if he maybe felt the same way when she had caugh his glace to her over the hallways and during their tutoring. She hoped his small acts of kindness to her meant more than just that. But she didn’t want to be selfish, her sister taught her better than that. She should be happy just being his friend and living to see him rise to the throne to rule. And she was. She convinced herself that she was happy being able to support Lancelot during his reign as a new King of Hearts.
She truly had tired to love her choosen husband. He wasn’t a bad guy, he didn’t do anything to hurt her or make her feel awful for having feelings for another man. He was too good for her and Elise pitied the man. She was still going to go through the wedding when the time comes and tried to erase all feelings about Lancelot from her heart. After all, she is a Marlowe, and a Marlowe always follows the family duty. She had almost done it until her ‘brother’ joined the army and asked for her to visit on a daily basis under the pretense of ‘using her knowledge to help Red Army advance.’ Even if it was just a ploy, she was still happy and eager to help. That’s when she met Kyle through her ‘brother’ and had all the more reasons to visit the barracks. That’s when she had encountered Lancelot again one night in the hallway after having discussed with Kyle about new possible medical solutions. Seeing him again after years and exchanging just a few words had lit a flame inside her once again. Visiting barracks for work bacame the perfect excuse to see him again and have just a greeting between them. Now older and more mature, Elise knows she could never stand by his side as his choosen one but she still hasn’t given up on supporting him till the end. It’s was she has to do.
But so far, she hasn’t received any complains on sending him gifts again after all those years.

More from Mother Goose’s Cookbook:
Spells from the Cradle.
——————————————————-
Tumblr media
——————————————————
Protection:
This charm can be done in several ways. You could send out a familiar in pursuit, you could could carve/paint/ draw the image of an owl upon a door or doorway, or you use the bones and feathers on an owl. You could use it on your own house in an apotropaic way, or you could use it to keep people away from a certain place (ideally it would create a feeling of fear for intruders or give some location the illusion of a haunting).
——————————————————
A little boy went into the barn,
And lay down on some hay;
An owl came out and flew about,
And the little boy ran away.
——————————————————
A Summoning Charm:
Adjust to fit the types of sentience you wish to summon. The Good Folk? (Not advisable) Other witches? Like-minded folk? Use as you need. Can also be a hex- that is to say, it’s way too easy to make your neighbors home more
...crowded.
——————————————————
Girls and boys, come out to play,
The moon doth shine as bright as day;
Leave your supper, and leave your sleep,
And come with your playfellows into the street.
Come with a whoop, come with a call,
Come with a good will or not at all.
Up the ladder and down the wall,
A halfpenny roll will serve us all.
You find milk, and I'll find flour,
And we'll have a pudding in half an hour.
——————————————————
To Wake the Sleeping:
(Not all sleep can be broken with a shake)
Buzz, quoth the blue fly,
Hum, quoth the bee,
Buzz and hum they cry,
And so do we:
In his ear, in his nose,
Thus, do you see?
He ate the dormouse,
Else it was me.
——————————————————
Note: This one is an actual charm used by the Satyrs in Ben Jonson’s Masque of Oberon (1616).
Spell for Occupational Prosperity:
As I was going to Banbury,
Upon a summer's day,
My dame had butter, eggs, and fruit,
And I had corn and hay.
Joe drove the ox, and Tom the swine,
Dick took the foal and mare;
I sold them all--then home to dine,
From famous Banbury fair.
——————————————————
To Force Someone out of Indecision:
Sleepest or wakest thou, jolly shepherd?
Thy sheep be in the corn;
And for one blast of thy minikin mouth,
Thy sheep shall take no harm.
(King Lear, Shakespeare)——————————————————
Say When Sealing a Bargain to Insure Reparations:
Jack is alive, and likely to live,
If he dies in your hand you’ve a forfeit to give.
——————————————————
Spell to Send Away:
Ladybird, ladybird,
Fly away home,
Your house is on fire
And your children all gone;
All except one
And that's little Ann,
And she has crept under
The warming pan.
——————————————————
A Spell of Escape:
There was a man and he had naught,
And robbers came to rob him;
He crept up to the chimney top,
And then they thought they had him.
But he got down on the other side,
And then they could not find him;
He ran fourteen miles in fifteen days,
And never looked behind him.
——————————————————
A Simple Godspeed:
(A well wishing for safe travels)
One to make ready,
And two to prepare;
Good luck to the rider,
And away goes the mare.

On Infinity War
For those who joined Jill and I on part or even all of our journey (you brave souls) or were merely curious to the end result of this adventure, I feel a final note is merited. How good was Infinity War? It was, in our opinion, not good, as the people here with us Friday night, trudging through the morass can attest. Never have I heard so many people ask when a movie would end, not even through the extended Lord of the Rings trilogy. As Thor might have said, “You’re just... the worst.”
Forced romances (where even the canonical ones somehow feel uncompelling), inane decision-making all around (three different cases where people let their emotions around one person get in the way of half a universe; other cases where they made similar actions but it wouldn’t have mattered anyway); cardboard character development (the movie was simply too big; many of our participants were empty shells or caricatures of themselves); and unnecessary, dragged-out sequences (since Thanos has enough power virtually from the beginning to collect the Infinity Gems on his own, sending out his version of the Four Horsemen did nothing but provide empty battle sequences, fill time, and allow our heroes to seem heroic before the big conclusion.) Did it have a few decent fights? Sure. But so did the Matrix sequels, and look at how we remember those today. Fights alone cannot sell a film.
This is all to say nothing of Thanos himself, whom the movie attempts to add depth and reason to his misguided aims -- a noble endeavor on the part of the creators but just nonsensical if you actually consider his objectives and methods for a period of time. Unlike the comics, where Thanos, to put it very crudely, wants to get in Mistress Death’s pants, here he seems convinced of his own righteousness and benevolence. No issue there. Some of the best villains are those that believe they are right. The problem is his method. He wants to eliminate half of the universe to stop resource scarcity so people can live in plenty. Okay, well, sure, that one objective would be achieved right now if you did that (we overlook the trauma here), but what about twenty years from now when everyone has another generation of children. Fifty? A hundred? Will you live forever, snapping your fingers every few decades? What kind of universe is that? With the power of the Gauntlet, you could remove the need for everyone to eat and drink, limit lifespans to eighty years for everyone (completely fair and equal), restrict reproduction for the cosmos to ensure population explosions don’t occur. These are all major changes to nature as we know it, but they don’t involve wholesale slaughter, and they would actually solve the problem long-term, which Thanos’s plans don’t. There are probably even better answers I’m not thinking of.
Entire treatises could be penned on how this movie does an injustice to its comic book source material, but I guess my ultimate condemnation is that we are no longer actually going to see Endgame in the theaters, nor will we buy or rent it. When it comes out to Netflix or whatever, we’ll probably sit down and endure it just to see what they do, but I have zero confidence based on this movie that it will be something I want to actively put money toward. For those who may vehemently disagree with me, godspeed and more power to you. You do you; I can only do me.
