hypnotized by the lights, man this must be the life

Atreus: Hey Brok? How do I tell if a girl likes me?
Brok: I tell ya’ what ya’ do.
[Walks around his table and gets in the Boy’s face]
Brok: You walk up to her and say “Do you like me?”. If she says “Yes”, she likes yer. “No” means ya move on and quit wasting’ yer time. [Walks back to the business side of his table]
Kratos: [Mildly approving grumble and walks off].
Brok: [Leans over table and whispers to Atreus]
Come back once yer dads are sleepin’, an’ I’ll give yer the master class on wooing women.
Okay, something I’m genuinely confused about in regards of God of War: Ragnarok is why so many people seem to hate playing as Atreus?
His combat style is very scrappy yet graceful contrasted w/ Kratos’s, his missions are interesting & full of character, & the segments allow for so much to be introduced & developed. There’s so many cool things that happen during his segments (Asgard? Hello??) but people genuinely seem to think they shouldn’t be in the game.
The most specific these complaints seem to get is that the Ironwood segment is poorly paced. Which makes no sense to me as a complaint bc Ironwood is essentially 2 days of events happening in the span of 2 hours bc that’s how time flows there. People also seem to hate it for being awkward & cringy, but these are 2 kids who’ve barely spoken to people outside their families & who’ve never spoken to anyone their own age. Atreus also pretty much immediately thinks Angrboda’s cute & grows to really like her, & I guarantee nobody on earth who had a crush when they were 14 acted not cringy.
Obviously everyone’s entitled to their opinion but the amount of hate I’ve seen Atreus’s segments get seems excessive & I do not get it.
