THERE ARE OTHER WAYS DID NOT GO WHERE I WAS EXPECTING IT TO OH MY GOD /POS
PENELOPE’S THEME AND INSTRUMENT?? ODYSSEUS BEING QUITE LITERALLY BACKED INTO A CORNER AND HAVING SEEMINGLY NO OTHER WAY TO SAVE HIS MEN BUT STILL NOT BEING ABLE TO BRING HIMSELF TO GO THROUGH WITH THE ACT (EVEN THO IT WOULDN’T BE A TRUE ACT OF BETRAYAL BECAUSE THERE’S NO ACTUAL CONSENT ON HIS SIDE AND IT WAS SOMETHING HE WAS ABOUT TO BE COERCED INTO)??? CIRCE BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BEFORE AND BELIEVING THAT “BECOMING THE PUPPETEER” IS THE ONLY WAY TO KEEP HERSELF AND HER NYMPHS SAFE SO SHE OFFERS THIS “ACT OF PASSION” TO STILL HAVE A FORM OF CONTROL, AND THEN SEEING ODYSSEUS IS NOT LIKE THOSE BEFORE BECAUSE HE’S SO IN LOVE WITH PENELOPE (WHO HE HASN’T SEEN IN 12 YEARS) THAT HE REFUSES HER OFFER AND PLEADS BECAUSE IT’S NOT WORTH IT EVEN THO THATS THE ONLY OPTION HE’S BEEN GIVEN??? HIM CALLING HIMSELF A PUPPET MAKING HER REALIZE THAT THIS CYCLE OF ABUSE AND CONTROL ISN’T WORTH IT ONLY TO COME TO A MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING BECAUSE SHE KNOWS WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE TRULY IN LOVE AND TO BE HURT, SO SHE OFFERS HIM AN ACT OF KINDNESS INSTEAD???
“Maybe showing one act of kindness leads to kinder souls down the road”
tonight has been such a great show of how the fans see c!Dream. the language surrounding him is dehumanizing, in the story, he is the book, he is kept in a vault, he is a monster - c!Q and c!Sam are seconds from calling him it, and the fandom reflects so many of these views. he is not a person with feelings, he is a monster, a predator stalking its prey, an obssessed beast. not human, never human with his very own motivations and goals and dreams who plans for something more. he never wans things for a reason that could not be seen as selfish desire, he is evil personified.
but the moment the language around him, by others in the story, the people who hold power over him reflect the lack of humanity that he should be granted, suddenly it is impossible to strip him of this human side. no, he cannot be in a vault, vault is for objects (like the revive book that everyone sees him as).
he is granted only as much humanity as people think he deserves to be punished further
the life he’s had could make a good man turn bad… but he remains good and kind in spite of it

It's really interesting how Nightow talked about humans being some kinds of Gods to Plants because they created them. (Thus playing around with the trope of Man vs God)
And then having Knives describe himself and his kind as Gods or angels.
In a way, his goal was the exact same as humanity. Building a paradise for his kind to thrive in, free of the horrors and errors of the past.
However, like men were created in God's image, Knives is as human as he gets. Repeating the same mistakes and furthering the harm he and his kind received. Perpetuating the cycle of never ending violence.
What I like about Fear and Hunger is that it presents us with the question of “Is it worth it to sacrifice an innocent for the greater good?” and then shows us the answer of “Yeah...lmao jk it’s actually not”
in a way, the buried and the vast are about the same thing, and as a guy who might be aligned with both, i wanna give my perspective on this. i see them both as being embraced by something so, so much bigger than you. being insignificant and finding comfort in that insignificance. in both cases, you're a part of the universe, a body buried in the dirt, a body floating in space. do u get me
ok but can we talk about how being willing to kill your children is a sign of faith and love according to the story of Abraham and Isaac. and what that means for Amane and her abuse/torture.
ngl that story is so fucked up to tell to children. like. "your mommy and daddy have the right to kill you if the Lord so desires that ^w^!!!". and you just have to kinda live with that information for the rest of your life and not feel any negative feelings about it either or else youre being a bad Christian as well as a bad kid.
