#god amanda waller what did they do to you....#i KNOW i never shut up about this but GUYS ITS SO BAD#fucking WHY would you take the interesting antihero protagonist and then strip her of any redeeming quality and use her as this horrific#unforgivable villain who is treated as a hated antagonist in her own comics#WHERE SHE ISNT EVEN THE MAIN CHARACTER MOST OF THE TIME#like why are you trying to make me sympathize with fucking harley quinn or smth when the actual main character is right there. why are we#turning her into this horrific villain w a million master plans making deals with the devil and shit.#we are supposed to like her. like maybe not all dc fans do because shes almost always an antagonist in other books but in her own shes the#main character!!! there should be some aspect of interest or sympathy for her. as opposed to just making her like badass or whatever#so sick of this#and its in freaking EVERYTHING right now on god i cant read other comics that are otherwise good (like ga) and enjoy them without the#obligatory intense demonification of one of my fave characters#like shes my no 6 in locg for a reason i genuinely love waller like yeah she sucks sometimes but shes INTERESTING.#this is not interesting or creative in any way what theyre doing with her#this genuinely could have been any government baddie like honestly#dont flatten 3 dimensional characters into 1 dimension (or at best like 1.5) to tell a story you tell the story around the 3d characters.#why do i need to say this. basic competent storytime#blah#amanda waller#istg i throw out another waller rant every freaking tuesday on here#suicide squad#you know what. at least we had the movie#you heard me. higher hopes for the new gunn dceu series than actual comics for the forseeable future#viola davis save me...#need to do a bit of 00s reading still to verify but on god watch this all come down to a fucking new 52 thing. like not to say that i think#thats where it all went wrong bc i need to read more to verify but i have an idea of what rlly did it and i think it was a nu52 decision#but then again maybe im stupid

Reluctant War AU Part 3
Part 1 Part 2
More of the brain worm that has taken me over, gonna probably post it to Ao3 here before too long. Already got another part started and so many ideas for additional stuff, someone please send help I've been consumed by this thing lol
Sorry if Waller seems out of character, outside of fandom I'm mostly familiar with her through Justice League the animated show & Justice League: Unlimited and her vibe there has always struck me as "deeply incredibly unlikable character that also kind of has a point but also has done so much fucked up shit in the name of her goals that you don't really care about her point anymore." So you know, complicated lol. If she's completely unrecognizable let me know, but I'm hoping she feels at least somewhat like Waller.
Forgot to say this in the last update, but still feel free to use all this as an overly long prompt if yall want. Literally anything I throw out to the void should be treated as a prompt lol If there's anything at all interesting to you in any of this nonsense go for it <3 <3 <3
---
Amanda Waller was someone who did what needed to be done.
Ruthless, heartless, vicious, cruel.
She’d been called it all. Wore the words thrown as insults as a badges of pride and valor. Because at the end of the day, when it came to the problems she was given to face, the issues she was meant to solve, those words meant she’d done what others had been too squeamish or cowardly to do. Life was a never ending slog of trolley problems and she the only one unshakable enough to pull the levers that needed pulling.
It wasn’t so simple as a matter of greater good.
Greater good was what the weak willed muttered to themselves after having feelings over doing the bare minimum. A justification used by people on all sides to do what they wanted with fractured, faulty logic thrown around like truth was a thing immutable. To assuage their guilt when they were forced to make a call they didn’t want to.
It wasn’t a matter of greater good. It was a matter of preservation. Of protection. Of digging through the filth to find the threats skittering beneath and crush them with ruthless abandon. Of facing a god and not blinking because if you did it could cost the world.
Of doing what needed to be done, no matter how underhanded or atrocious it was.
Hands dirty.
Hands red.
Hands wrapped tight around the throat of something that could threaten to destroy it all.
When the Ghost Investigation Ward had been shoved her way with it’s sucking wound of a budget, it’s bloated incompetent staff, its asinine methods she’d seen a rotted limb in need of hacking off. It hadn’t been until she’d been conducting her inspection, digging through the trash for a few pearls of effective agents she could snatch up and put to work elsewhere, that she’d truly seen what they were working on. The potential.
Potential to better arm themselves with in the forms of the strange new weapons being created.
Potential for threats far greater than anything even she had thought possible before.
The GIW as it had been when she’d first come across it was a fetid waste of time and resources. A laughing stock agency only secret because no one took them seriously enough to look. Made stupid and useless with its own conceited delusions of importance it didn’t actually have. Yet.
She went to work on it. Hacking away as she’d originally intended, but this time with a different goal in mind. She ripped out the weeds with bare, calloused hands and planted proficiency and loyalty in their place. She took over as director herself, tossing the self-aggrandizing fool that had been running the place into the ground to the dogs as the culprit for misappropriate spendings, saving the agency by tweaking things until their ballooning budget was pinned neatly onto the former director as an embezzling charge.
Then she got to work.
The Fentons were brilliant, if entirely insane. But Amanda could work with that. She’d reigned Harley Quinn in - more or less - she could do the same to the two deranged scientists that so eagerly wanted to be apart of the fight against the dead. Especially when the benefit came in the form of the inventions they threw together so easily, especially when those inventions were weapons.
It took very little to get them on board with her plans for the GIW. Keeping their focus could be a chore, at times, but she didn’t even have to really do much in the way of pressing to get them back where she wanted them. They craved knowledge and understanding nearly as much as they craved the eradication of the entities themselves. Letting them have the first look at a new subject here, free reign over a vivisection there, it took so little to fuel their fervor and keep them busy working on the projects she set for them.
Things had been going smoothly.
For a time at least.
Until Phantom.
He’d been the main focus of the previous director’s attention, the big fish he’d so desperately wanted to catch and put up on his wall. Amanda wouldn’t lie and say it wasn’t a tempting prospect, but not one she’d put above the other projects she had set in motion since taking over. No, Phantom was powerful, enough to be a real problem one day, but she could the awkward youth in the way he held himself, the inexperience in how he handled situations. She had time to get everything else in order before focusing on getting Amity Park’s would-be hero brought to heel.
And he would be brought to heel. One way or another.
Hands dirty.
Hands red.
Hands wrapped tight around the Core of a fledgling god and bending him to her will.
An artifact, old an powerful, recovered with some effort. A means of controlling specters, of chaining them to the will of the artifact’s wielder. Dangerous in the wrong hands. Dangerous in the right hands.
It was shattered, and even whole and functional Phantom was resistant to its power. But Amanda Waller prided herself in her ability to see the potential in things. It could be repaired, be made better. Even gods could be bound, be made to kneel, with the right pieces, with the right application of force.
It was just a matter of time to gather everything needed.
Phantom didn’t know he could single handedly destroy every last member of the Justice League. The baby fat, the innocent eyes, the split-second hesitations when he fought. He knew enough to be confident in fighting the usual ghosts that haunted Amity Park, but he still very much saw himself as a little fish. Maybe it was the part of him that was still Daniel Fenton, gangly teenager not quite sure what he was truly capable of yet.
She had time before the Fenton’s son truly became an issue. Time to judge if his parents’ obsessiveness would overcome their - rather shoddy, by Amanda’s estimation - parental instincts and continue to hunt him once they knew the truth. Time to get as much out of them as she could before hand, should they falter at the idea of attacking their own son. Time for the staff to be repaired and returned to working order, to get the other items needed for the truly big fish hidden on the other side of the veil between worlds.
She had time.
Until she didn’t.
Pariah Dark had not been something she thought she’d have to account for - not yet, at least.
If he wasn’t already dead, she’d ring the Ghost King’s neck with her bare hands. His arrival had opened Phantom’s eyes to what he was capable of, of just how big of a fish he was. Worse still, Phantom’s defeat of the war mongering King changed the state of play. Phantom was no longer an impressively powerful half dead teenager.
He was King Infinite.
He was an Ancient.
He was getting on her last damn nerves.
Phantom’s rogue gallery were now firmly under the boy’s control. Still distinct nuisances around Amity Park, but no longer considered true concerns. They were loyal to their boy king, delighting in ruffling his feathers but never crossing the line into treason or attempted regicide. Which meant that the GIW was the only thing that held his attention.
Amanda took the time to send a care package to the former GIW director in his tiny, dank prison cell. As thanks for his carelessness in revealing to the entire town - both living and dead - of the agency’s existence and their intentions. Had he stuck to standard protocol, Phantom would have been none the wiser to their presence. Would have scratched his head and shrugged his shoulders at the ghost that went missing upon occasion. Would have been boredly uninterested in the people his parents had begun working with. Would have been taken by surprise when they finally came for him.
But no.
No that self-obsessed, fame chasing imbecile had to go and announce to everyone and their dead mother that the GIW existed and exactly what it was they were in Amity Park to do.
Phantom knew what they were there to do.
They could only count on his naive certainty that he could broker peace with them for so long.
Peace. As if he and his people weren’t the invading force, the monsters slipping in through the cracks between worlds, the latest threat that had to be accounted for. As if he himself hadn’t rent their world asunder himself in another world, another time. No. Peace was not something they could hash out with this baby-faced monarch with his too-big crown. Peace was the assurance of safety, security. Of control of the situation.
There could be no peace.
The higher ups were somehow surprised when Phantom took that to mean there would be war.
Amanda Waller was not.
The Fentons, as suspected, took the right side when all was revealed. Steady hands and flinty eyes as they crafted the weapons that would be needed for the coming fight. Minds even sharper in their maddened grief, hearts set on revenge for the son lost and the entity that stole his face and friends and sister in his garish pretense at humanity. They were blinded to the reality of the situation in its entirety, the potential in what their son truly was, but at the end of the day it didn’t really matter. They did what she needed them to do, they could believe whatever it was they wanted so long as they did.
By the time the boy king and his armies marched upon the Amity park facility, preparations had been put into place. The base in Amity had been stripped back to bare essentials, everything of importance moved to more secured locations.
The weapons labs.
The artifact.
The girl.
All tucked well away from the front lines where Phantom and his motley crew could not reach. Their time to be put in play would come, but not yet. First she needed to gauge what Phantom and his people were capable of, what they were willing to do in the name of what they wanted. Amity Park was a pawn well sacrificed on that front. As were the other facilities she’d left easy to find.
The problem with making children gods, with giving them crowns and calling them King and giving them armies to play with, was that they thought there should be rules. That even in the trenches tearing apart their enemies, there was a certain level of playing fair that everyone was held to. They thought there was a way the world worked, of how things should be that blinded them to more effective options even as time stretched on and desperation set in.
It was the Dead’s problem though, not hers.
She reached out to the Justice League. Sour faced, unhappy, bitterly reluctant to accept that she needed their help. Stone faced and barely containing their rage at what little they knew of the situation, they agreed to a meeting.
She didn’t let herself smile until she was well and truly alone in her office.
Greater good. A lie people told themselves. A fairytale told to children. A means of convincing the weaker willed that they had no choice, that they had a noble duty to bend to. A belief that could be wielded like a weapon if the fantasy of the idea had dug in deep enough. And there were few it had dug into so deep as the members of the Justice League.
Amanda Waller was someone who did what needed to be done.
Hands dirty.
Hands red.
Hands clenched tight on a victory long in the making.

Rick Flag x Reader
Plot: You were always at odds with a certain Colonel. Will Christmas change things?
Genre: PG-13, Colleagues/Neighbors/Enemies to Lovers (wow so many tropes in one haha) Christmas theme (again)
A/N: Big thanks to @the-slumberparty for letting me not forget my writing roots in times of writer’s slump/block! 2nd piece for sleepover event to hopefully end the year right. Enjoy and please reblog/comment!❤️
Tumblr media
Prompt: “I never hated you. I just didn’t want you to know how much I liked you.”
***
“Motherfu-”
You yell in pain as the infirmary doctor at Belle Reve patches up your injuries. “Sorry, I wasn’t-”
The doctor waves away your apology nonchalantly. He brushes a strand of grey hair off his face before applying more iodine to the angry looking flesh on your knee. Hats off to him, he does quick and efficient work. The doctor sends you on your way with a month’s worth of painkillers and advice to rest.
“Thanks doc, but I don’t think that’s in Waller’s dictionary. At least not for us.”
He doesn’t refute your statement and simply prepares to see his next patient. Bag of medicine in hand, you limp to the office as quickly as you can. You want to get out of the penitentiary and lay in the comfort of your own bed.
You acknowledge Emilia and John who congratulate you on another successful mission. Even Amanda Waller, who you had to submit your report to despite being on the brink of death gives a subtle nod to the quick thinking that you displayed on the field. But knowing her, she probably was just happy that she could continue using her soldiers.
Including the ridiculously handsome Colonel who had marched into the shared office space, not sparing you a glance. He shoves his belongings into his bag and he is gone as quickly as he came.
You frown. You have no idea what’s his problem. Ever since your first day, it felt as if like he’s had it out for you. And the best part? For no good reason. He was civil with everyone. Everyone but you. He was downright rude and a jerk.
Emilia gives you an empathetic smile. The two of you leaned on each other, being one of the few females in an environment that wasn’t exactly sunshine and rainbows. She comforted you after Rick blew your head off for almost ruining the mission when all you did was to rescue two innocent children in the crossfire.
“Cheer up! At least it’ll be Christmas soon. Things will be different.” She says. “Any plans?”
You shake your head. “Not that I can think of. I’m just lucky that I survived this mission.” You sling your bag over your shoulder and bid them goodbye. Emilia was right, at least it was that time of the year. Maybe things will be different.
***
It looks like the doctor had clearly outdone himself. Your injuries were healing nicely and you could even step outside your house for a jog. Dressed in your running gear, you leave your apartment and step into the pleasantly cold weather.
Making your way round the block, you arrive back at your apartment. You think about what you wanted to do next with the treasured free time that you have. Perhaps you’ll order in from that Korean restaurant, pull out a Disney movie and be a couch potato for the rest of the day.
Yeah, that sounded excellent.
Deep in thought about what you should pick from the menu, you don’t notice that one of the stitches from your more severe wounds snap, causing a patch of red to blossom at the side of your stomach. The lift dings, signaling that this is your floor. Thank god no one saw you. They knew who you were but most of your neighbors were under the impression that you were an outdoor educator.
Clutching the side of your stomach, you willed yourself to take the steps forward needed to get to your door. Easy does it, you think. Unfortunately, your vision starts to spot and the floor starts to shake. This unnerves your usually calm demeanor as your breathing quickens. As if it was an eternity, you reach the door. All you needed to do was to get the keys, unlock the door and-
And…
***
You blink, shifting uncomfortably on the sofa. To be exact, your sofa.
How did you get inside? You can’t remember anything after the jog.
“You’re awake.” A familiar voice can be heard and a flop of messy blonde hair comes into vision. You don’t know how Rick Flag got into your house, let alone knew that you lived here.
“Rick?”
“Yeah, it’s me darlin.”
The name somehow wakes you up and you attempt to sit upright only for Rick to gently push you back down. “I just did your stitches for you. You don’t want to burst them again.” He tells you and your cheeks heat up. Rick did your stitches, which means he saw you- Stop it!
“How did you know where I lived? How did you even know I was coming back home?” You focus your attention on the important moments. “Are you stalking me? I could sue you for workplace harassment.”
Rick lets out a deep chuckle that has butterflies bursting in the pit of your stomach. “Yeah, you do that. Though I don’t think there’s any issue with me coming to this building seeing as it’s my home too.”
You let yourself process this. “Wait… you’re the neighbor from five-oh-two?” You wanted to mentally slap yourself in the face. No wonder Mrs Jenkins told you that neighbor five-oh-two was supposedly a private contractor. That he had weird, odd hours. That apparently you should have met him since you and him leave around the same time in the morning for work.
Rick smiles. “That’s me.”
You almost let your defenses down until you realized that it’s been eight months since you moved in here and you’ve met everyone on your level except one. Until now.
This reaffirms the fact that Rick Flag hates you for no good reason and has wants nothing to do with you outside work. Even if he is your neighbor. Fine. Two people can play that game.
“Thanks for fixing me up. I’m not sure why the stitch burst open but I’ll let Doctor Shaw know when I get back to work.”
Rick catches on to your sudden frostiness. His expression softens for a moment before it is replaced by the brooding look that you have grown so accustomed to. “Sure. Uh… have a good Christmas.”
That was oddly civil.
You nod stiffly, closing the door as he steps out your house.
You really need a glass of water.
***
Christmas. The time of jolly good cheer.
You walk down the shops that are adorned with bright lights and Christmas decorations, mood improving significantly.
Okay, the steak that you had for dinner also played a part in the great day that you had. You also decided to treat yourself, purchasing a lovely sweater. Bag in hand, you continue down the pavement. If only every day could be like this. Not throwing yourself into life or death situations, not having criminals as your field members, not having to deal with a tyrannical boss at work and most importantly…
Not having to see Rick Flag twenty-four seven.
Even if he may be disarmingly handsome and everything that you wanted.
A loud honk and bright flights come flashing at you and instead of ducking for cover, you stand there like a deer in headlights, as if waiting for the truck to hit you.
A hand reaches out and grabs you by the arm, pulling you back to safety where pedestrians continue on their way. You find yourself staring into the sea foam eyes of the Colonel who does not look pleased one bit. In fact, he looks positively seething with rage. Rage that was about to be directed at you.
“What were you thinking? Are you trying to get yourself killed?” He grips you by the shoulder tightly and you would have swatted his hands away if you weren’t still recovering from the shock of it all. “Are you injured anywhere? Do you need me to take you to the hospital?”
You shake your head slowly and Rick sighs with relief. Apparently, he only just realizes what he is doing and removes his hands as if like he had touched something that he shouldn’t have. This annoys you and is also enough to tip you over the edge.
“What’s your problem?”
Rick’s brows furrow in confusion before his face twists in disgust. “Is this how you thank someone for saving you from almost being hit by a one ton truck?”
“No, this is me asking if you have a problem with me.” You refuse to back down. “Because it’s either you pretend to be worried or save me from a ‘rookie’ mistake I made on the field and proceed to humiliate me publicly!” You raised your voice. “If you hate me, make it clear. I can’t do anything about work but I can make myself disappear when we’re outside.”
You proceed to turn around to be on your way when Rick holds you by the wrist. He hangs his head, surprisingly defeated by your words. You want to twist yourself out of his grasp, but his sad golden retriever appearance is making it very hard for you to be the villain here.
“Please,” Rick pleads. “Stay.”
An internal you battle, you relent and let him take you to a nearby cafe. He insists on getting you something, so you order a simple hot chocolate to calm your nerves. You remain silent, waiting for what the Colonel has to say.
“I’m sorry.”
You cock your head to the side, unsure if you were hearing things after that truck almost ran you over.
“I didn’t mean to do all of that.” Rick starts. “It was unprofessional and very unlike me. It was just that-” He inhales deeply.
“When I see you throwing yourself in danger or being in danger… my mind stops working. I’m so scared that one day, things will go wrong and I’m left alone again.” He grips the handle of his mug tightly.
“Remember when you saved those two children?”
“How could I forget?”
“You were amazing for that. You were fearless and brave. That’s what I wanted to tell you. But my fear became the better of me and I hurt you instead.” Rick recounts bitterly.
“I never hated you. I just didn’t want you to know how much I liked you.”
Rick can’t bring himself to look at your reaction. Perhaps a peek and he sees that your mouth is hanging open slightly. Oh, he’s done it. He’s really blown this to bits. Perhaps he can file in a transfer when he gets to work - yeah, as if Waller would allow that. Perhaps death would be the best option.
“Then say it.”
Rick stares at you, dumbfounded. A small smile is etched on your lips. “Say it you big dummy.” You laugh this time and his heart skips a beat.
“Okay, maybe I’ll say it first. Get the ball rolling hm?” You add playfully, enjoying the look on his face. “I lo- oof!”
Rick knocks his chair over from standing up to fast as he makes his way to you, engulfing you in a big and warm embrace. You freeze but only momentarily before melting into his hug that smelled like cinnamon.
“I love you Y/N Y/S/N.” He says breathlessly before giving you what was possibly the most mind shattering kisses that you ever had.
The Christmas lights start to dance around each other and the music in the cafe plays a slow jazz song. People trickle in and out for a nice warm drink and you are content with how Christmas has played out today.
Christmas could be different after all.

Consider: Captain Marvel Villian arc, but Billy Batson's heart stays pure.
Like Amanda Waller finds out his secret identity after bribing some of his villains for his secret identity.
She catches him when he is his child-self and muzzles him to make sure he wouldn't be able to turn.
He's experimented on, in an try to find a logical explanation for his magic.
Through it all his instincts/the godly Twitch chat scream at him to murder all the scientists and escape, but Billy finds himself unable to do that.
It's just not right for his child brain.
Especially since none of the scientists seem to want to hurt him.
He remembers his hands being held as some of his blood is taken, his hair getting petted as he is put to sleep, how they give him books and toys and blankets so he would bedistracted from the pain.
These people weren't evil. They where just doing their jobs.
Slowly he learned and watched the things around him.
There were others like him. Test subjects. People that needed help.
Most of the scientists weren't allowed to leave and those who were wore trackers. They where prisoners.
One day, the scientists made a "mistake", by not securing the muzzle right.
(He saw the way the doctor looked at him. He knew. He knew and allowed him to leave)
Captain Marvel was powerful. A being that could easily devour a god.
Destroying the facility was easy. Saving all those prisoners was even easier.
Some, he returned to their home and took away all of their memories.
Others, he made disappear, changing everything about them so they could start anew.
The rest he took home with him. Those he saw fit to share a drop of his power with to protect others.
He comes home like a father that returned from war. Captain Marvels appearance has changed in the time he was gone.
Still, his heart stayed as pure as it was before.
He still remembers the name of his people, their struggles, the things they like.
He still helps the old ladies cross the streets, plays with the children of the town and protects all those who might need it.
But many things changed aswell.
The magical world has gone out of its rails after he disappeared.
Billy was a child of magic and his disappearing was upsetting.
It was the Captains duty to bring balance to it.
And so he did.
He bathed in blood and iron to do what is right.
To save those around him.
To do good, as good will follow.
As the magic was in disarray, he gently gave it a sense of order back.
He took and gave powers how he saw fit and brought stability.
This stability changed the world fundamentally.
___________________________________
Captain Marvel became a dangerous being with an army of magic powered mini hims and a soul of gold.
He will help those who need it. Even those who don't want it.
He can recreat you as easily as he can recreate the world.

Title: Green Pairing: Nyssa al Ghul x Reader Summary: Nyssa and Y/n realize how much of an impact environment can have on a relationship. NR WC: 755
Y/n kicked her feet back and forth off the edge of the rooftop she was sitting on as she sipped on her beer. It was cocky and something that would have had her punished if she was still in the League. There were certain behaviors that were frowned upon, no matter how impressive one's kill count was. Y/n fancied herself as one of the greatest to ever been among the ranks of Ra's al Ghul, but of course, there were those who begged to differ. Talia wrote her off as a showboater, and Nyssa had always been a bit jealous. Y/n didn't want their relationship to be like that, but there was nothing that she could have done herself to fix things between them aside from completely disbanding the League of Assassin's.
"You should not be in this city." Nyssa's voice was cold, even colder than Y/n remembered it being.
"Hey there ice queen. What brings a girl like you to a city like this?" Y/n asked as she pointed her rifle downwards. Nyssa looked at the weapon in Y/n's hands and scoffed. "What? Don't knock the weapons of the century until you try them. Waller hooked me up with some pretty neat gadgets."
"Does she know that you're a deserter?" Nyssa questioned. Y/n laughed at Nyssa's question. Nyssa's face scrunched in displeasure. Y/n realized then that Nyssa had no idea why Y/n had left her post on their final mission together.
"Who the hell do you think recruited me?" Y/n glanced up at Nyssa as she watched the realization settle in. Nyssa looked displeased to say the very least, but didn't say anything else. "I answered your question, now answer mine."
"I have been residing in Star City and helping out the Green Arrow, which is why I can't allow you to do this," Nyssa said as she grabbed the muzzle of Y/n's rifle. Y/n narrowed her eyes as she swept Nyssa off of her feet and sent the woman flying back several feet on the roof. Y/n saw the door open to the club and aimed her sights down to see who was exiting. She let out a sigh of disappointment when it ended up not being her guy. She lowered it again as Nyssa grabbed her by the collar and dragged her away from her little camp.
"God, that American did a number on you. You get a little pussy and suddenly you're the shining example of morality. I know what you've done. I've got the scars to show how deep your compassion runs." Y/n shot up to her feet and got in Nyssa's face. Nyssa looked away from Y/n, suddenly unable to meet her eye. It was their first meeting since Y/n had left, and Nyssa thought that she would have wanted to kill Y/n, but all Nyssa could feel was guilt. They weren't at odds with each other, not really.
"I am sorry for what I did to you," Nyssa said as she sat down cross-legged on the ground. Y/n tossed her rifle to the side and laid down next to Nyssa. "We do not have to be enemies here, I just can't let you assassinate anybody."
"It's not on Amanda's terms, it's on mine. The people I kill, they truly deserve it now. I am past redemption, but the world doesn't have to be. You and I, we aren't ever going to be heroes, but we can make it safer for those who can be. I don't want to fight with you any more than I want to go back to being Amanda Waller's bitch," Y/n admitted. She glanced up at Nyssa, who seemed to be smiling slightly. "Let me pull the trigger tonight, and tomorrow, I'll let you show me another way."
"What you do when I'm not looking is not any of my business," Nyssa said as she covered her eyes. Y/n muttered a quiet thanks before she set herself back up again. This time, she was able to catch her guy and dispose of him quickly. The rooftop was empty and abandoned by the time that any guards got there, both Nyssa and Y/n nearly half a mile away from the scene of the crime. Y/n found herself feeling free as Nyssa held onto her hand while they ran together. It was much less scary having Nyssa as her ally rather than her enemy.

[Someone to Try New Things With] - Part 1
Adrian Chase/Reader
Tumblr media
Word Count: 3K
Warnings: Cursing, drug use, universe-similar language/subject matter, will add as needed as things might get smutty.
AN: This has been sitting in my drafts for days now with me putting off posting. No Y/N, but the reader is loosely based off of the same as my AO3 fic. This is still a baby of an idea and more of a drabble to length is tbd :)
Covered in blood and speeding down the highway, everyone was having a much better time than they probably should. You chalked it up to the adrenaline, the euphoria at somehow still being alive despite a literal gorilla swinging you around like its toy doll. Everyone was celebrating the win, exposing and wounding a deep rooted butterfly operation right under their noses, and yet, you couldn’t help but find yourself dwelling on the opposite. The obvious fact that this plant supplied so much of the alien food source that it could only mean an invasion on the scale of which you hadn’t fully even grasped yet.
But hey, nothing getting a little less than sober couldn’t fix.
Harcourt nudged your shoulder, pulling you out of your own head, “If even I’m sporting a hint of a smile, how is it you’re not?” She eyed you suspiciously.
Emilia had known you the longest of the team, and had actually been the person who made the call to recruit you. You were…an exception to the government to say the absolute least. To put it simply, this universe wasn’t your first home, but you did find yourself here and even found family, and abilities you never knew you had in your other life.
Amanda Waller was aware of your arrival immediately, though once she saw who had found you first, even she knew she couldn’t intervene with her usual force. The best she could do was invite you and your…’uncle’, Lucifer Morningstar, to brunch while she was ‘conveniently passing through’ L.A. Explain who she was, what she did, and ask if she could ever call on them for help.
She did, and once or twice you agreed. It soon became obvious that you were more likely to agree if Emilia were on the case as well, and the two of you became friends with a quickness that surprised you both. She knew your entire past, in both worlds, and in return you were one of the only people who knew hers. Probably as close as you would come to having a sister.
“Just trying to wrap my head around the day I guess. Or,” you coughed, making a show of raising your voice even above the music, “OR trying to figure out if anyone wants to partake in some legal drugs and alcohol this evening because what the fuck just happened??”
The group collectively cheered and you smirked at Emilia, as if to prove everything were fine. She rolled her eyes at your blatant attempt to throw her off.
Leota slid over, joining the huddle as soon as she saw the dreaded Harcourt eye roll.
“Is it the dancing? Are you totally questioning your sexual taste over that dancing?”
“OH MY GOD” you whisper yelled, channeling David a-la Schitt’s Creek.
Adebayo laughed, “What? You’re the only one sitting here looking miserable after getting out of there in one piece, and since she couldn’t get you to crack I figured you were regretting your crush on-“
“I know what you’re-“ you cut her and yourself off, closing your eyes and stopping.
Emilia doesn’t know where to start with her prying, and Leota had to go to straight to the one thing she didn’t want to talk about in such a close knit space. She wanted to talk about your hopelessly ridiculous crush on Adrian Chase.
You fell pretty hard and pretty fast for someone who made absolutely no fucking sense. Emilia couldn’t make heads or tails of it. She was mortified. Not quite disgusted, she wasn’t blind, but she never believed in the ‘love at first sight’ thing. And neither did you, which only made how you felt, and how deeply you felt it, all the more confusing.
You decided to fess up to your actual feelings before they could make any more guesses, “Honestly the scale of this thing is just weighing on me. Didn’t hit me until we saw the size of this operation, ya know?”
They both looked momentarily deflated, but quickly bounced back shrugging, with Emilia shaking her head at you.
“Okay see, you have to enjoy the moment.” Leota forced your shoulders down urging you to relax and speaking louder now, “I think we’re gonna do exactly what you said.”
Economos snorted from the driver’s seat, “Drugs and alcohol?”
“Fuck yeah, I’m in.” From Chris, obviously.
You hadn’t even realized the guys had tuned into the conversation once Leota spoke up. Economos shrugged like he was in but didn’t care, though you could tell he was excited. The only one still thinking was Adrian, and you looked at him waiting for an answer. Chris spoke up instead.
“Dude, stop being weird about weed and just come, it’s legal, you gotta let it go and probably try it so you don’t keep being so fucking-“
“Alright, alright!” Adrian interrupted before Chris could keep going, he didn’t want to hear the rest of it. He looked at you.
“I’m coming but we need snacks. Come to 7-11 with me when we get back?”
You smirked, “Adrian, I would love to.”
He glared at you, “Are you being sarcastic?”
“She’s not,” Harcourt said, “You two head out when we get back and I’ll text you a list.”
The rest of the ride was spent with everyone shouting out snacks and drinks they like, don’t like, don’t like but might like while stoned, and it went on and on until John and Chris were fighting about Combos and there wasn’t anything resembling a list. You leaned into Adrian’s side, watching everything unfold.
“I think we have to make a run for it and just buy everything in 7-11.” She stage whispered near him and he smirked.
“Yeah, there’s no way we can afford everything in 7-11.”
You laughed in response and held up a wallet that was clearly not your own. You let it fall open for Adrian to see that you had picked Emilia’s pocket while she was trying to end the Great Combo Debate.
“You know that’s a crime.” He raised his eyebrows at you, you knew Adrian well enough to know that while he sounded like he was joking, he completely wasn’t.
“Actually it’s not,” you pulled out a generic looking credit card Adrian had never seen before, “Em has a card that gets comp’d by the job. And since this is a team event after nearly getting shredded by a gorilla, I think Waller can bankroll us tonight.”
“In that case I’m gonna need two bags of each Skittles flavor just for me-”
He went on, but you just bounced on your heels waiting for John to park. Everyone had a part; Chris and John were heading out to find a dealer Chris knew for some last minute party favors, Harcourt and Adebayo were on alcohol and set up duty, grabbing speakers from a dusty room in the back and throwing on a playlist.
You and Adrian were on your way to 7-11 when you realized that the ride had been unusually quiet. You weren’t totally sure what you were to Adrian, but you knew that he never had any shortage of things to say or questions to ask you. As soon as you had joined the team and they had been given a (loose) background of why you joined the team, Adrian had had an endless stream of questions for you. The team had given him a hard time about it, but you assured them you didn’t mind, not adding how adorable you found it.
“What’s on your mind, Ade?”
It struck you not for the first time that it was a good thing Vigilante’s mask was so concealing because you could read every thought that passed Adrian’s mind. He clearly weighed whether or not to tell the truth or make something up, you could see the moment he decided on the truth, and the moment that he braced himself play out in succession.
“I’m thinking about smoking with you guys to stop being annoying like Chris said, but it’s probably so gross and I’m gonna choke and then he’s just gonna make fun of me more and think I’m a lame best friend so then Adebayo is gonna be second under Eagley and third may as well not even count as a best friend.”
Everything was said in one running sentence and he kept his eyes straight ahead, but you could tell how worried he actually was about this.
“Okay.” You took a deep breath-
“It’s fine, I was being stupid.”
“No, you’re not, let’s just talk it out. Seriously.” You looked right at him and he nodded. Pulling into the 7-11 parking lot, he parked and threw his seat belt off, turning to you and waiting.
“First of all Ade, don’t smoke because of Chris. He’s just messing with you and once he starts partying he’ll forget he even said it.”
Adrian nodded begrudgingly.
“Second, the only reason you should try tonight would be if you want to try it for yourself while you’re with friends who’ll look out for you in case it doesn’t go well. For all of his jokes I know Chris would look out for you if it actually came down to it. He’d make fun of you first, but he’d help.” You smirked at him, shrugging.
Adrian took a deep breath and released it, immediately feeling lighter, but also a little scared. He told you it was Chris he was worried about, totally. It was, anyway, but then you sat there and walked through everything he said, one step at a time, in a way no one else ever does and he was able to make sense of things so the problem just…goes away? Crazy.
“I know you said I should only do it if I want to, but I wanna know if you think I should do it?” He asked you so genuinely, like it was a matter of life and death.
“Okay, how about this. I’ll try to explain what I like about it, and you can think about if you’d like that too and want to try.” He nodded and you took that as your sign to keep going, “I mean you know me Ade, I get anxiety about things I don’t even know if I should have anxiety about yet. Not to mention all the shit I’d much rather forget. I’m not saying smoking makes any of that go away, but it definitely puts me in a headspace where for a little while it doesn’t feel as heavy. It feels like I can really breath, and all of the good things just feel better too. It’s not like that for everyone, and it takes some getting used to, but that’s what I like about it.”
You meandered towards the end of that sentence, suddenly feeling self conscious over how intently Adrian was staring at you and listening to your every word. He thought about what you said before very seriously stating, “Okay, I’m definitely a maybe.” and you couldn’t help but laugh.
“Let’s head in, gonna take a while to grab one of everything.” You joked, exiting the car with Adrian catching up to you.
By the time you made it back to base Adrian wouldn’t let you help carry anything and asked you to send Chris and John out instead. He did, however, take the time to clarify that he wasn’t being sexist, he just knew you had carried enough out of 7-11 and Harcourt and Adebayo probably needed a break from their bickering.
He was way more aware than people gave him credit for, you decided making your way into the building.
“That was a pretty clean swipe but I’m gonna need my wallet back now.” Emilia help her hand out expectantly, smirking.
“‘Clean’ come on, you know you didn’t even notice, you can say so.” You rolled your eyes and passed the wallet back, leaving the receipt tucked in for her expense report. You looked around and laughed, “Do you think you guys got enough beer?” There were cases all over of several different types.
Leota shrugged, “Everyone likes something different and it’s not like we’re not gonna use it.”
“That’s true, I just know once I smoke I’m going to start tossing those like I’m Stone Cold Steve Austin and no one will be able to talk sense into me.”
The guys all came in dropping bags from 7-11 just in time to catch your last remark and Chris immediately agreed.
“FUCK YEAH WE HAVE TO-”
“OUTSIDE!” Emilia interrupted, “If you must be children, do. it. out. side.”
“Yes, mom.” You rolled your eyes, quickly shaking your head at Chris and shooting him a warning glare from adding on to your statement. You could easily see him calling Emilia ‘mommy’ and getting this whole night canceled for everyone.
“Need any help?” You turned to John who you were surprised to see getting a bong set up. Not exactly what you were expecting for a black ops team, but hey, who were you to judge. Lucifer used some surprising pieces too, after all.
“Nah, pretty straightforward over here, but everyone agreed you’ll be getting first dibs.”
“Aw, thanks.” You weren’t all that surprised. As Emilia said, you not joining in the celebration was an odd sight, and not just to her. There was a silent agreement that you needed the nudge.
Everyone settled onto the floor surprisingly naturally. Once the adrenaline started fading a little and they had found their favorite snacks, the group found themselves casually arranged in a circle on the ground, throwing things at each other and debating the music choices.
A loose order was formed once you decided to light the bong, with Adrian observing as the rest of the group (excluding Emilia) passed the herb around. After Chris lit more than he could handle you jumped in to help, pulling the bowl and laughing along with Chris.
“So is there a way for like,” he nudged his glasses up his face and shrugged, “you can start it for me and I can just ya know, do that part at the end?”
“Is he talking about a shotgun?” Economos foolishly asked while Chris burst into a grin. You looked to the two women for help, neither seeing any reason for your panic.
“Why yes there IS a way to do that, and I’m sure Angel Cakes would be happy to help you out with it.” Chris eagerly nodded at you, making sure to drop the nickname he knew you couldn’t stand.
“Chris don’t be ridiculous, we all know you two are close enough to do it.” Leota jumped in, ready to save you from your already weakening self control.
“Well sure but he didn’t ask me he asked her, and probably cause he knows I might laugh right in his mouth and that would be-“
“Okay, enough, yeah, fuck it-“ you cut everyone off, getting a bit louder with each work, “I’m gonna shot gun Ade’s first hit, but everyone’s taking a shot first.”
The group gave a salute and followed orders, proving that there were at least some things they could agree on as a team.
“So what exactly does shotgun even mean for this, it’s not like shotgunning a beer otherwise why would you or Chris have to do it…?” Adrian was asking the questions to the group, but specifically you while you grabbed your lighter from Chris and motioned for Adrian to slow down.
“I’m gonna light the bowl, take a deep breath, and hold all the smoke in my mouth.” He nodded for you to continue, “I’m going to turn to you and blow all the smoke into your mouth, so make sure you take a nice deep breath. Hold it for a while, and don’t let anyone be a bitch if you cough.”
“Economos, this is what you thought I was asking for??”
“Well you seem like you’re into some kinky shit so sure!”
“I mean yeah but not with you!” Adrian caught himself and turned back to you “With him that is, not saying yes with you but not no either because any answer is inappropriate so-“
“Adrian,” you stopped him, “We’re here now. Just take a deep breath when I tell you, okay?”
He nodded and you lit the bowl, saying a quick prayer that this wasn’t going to be the metaphorical rubber band snap that sent you crossing the lines of appropriate workplace boundaries with an off-the-books-anyway assassin.
You went on as if everything were completely normal. As if Adrian weren’t watching your lips with the intense concentration usually reserved for something else entirely, deadly in a different sense. You pulled the bowl from the slider and grabbed Adrian’s chin, gesturing him to tilt and open his mouth, which he did surprisingly quickly.
The first thing he noticed was that he did faintly taste your cherry soda, something he told himself wouldn’t happen, because surely the only taste he would be able to notice would be the weed he told himself he’d never try. It almost felt welcoming in a way he didn’t expect, it tasted familiar, and tasted like you, something he had been so curious about that he felt instantly calmed. Until he remembered the smoke in his lungs and urgently started coughing, smoke pluming out quickly. Expecting everyone to be laughing, he was pleasantly surprised to look up to see the team cheering, Chris coming over to clap him on the back.
Turned out to be exactly like you said, Adrian realized everything felt a little lighter. Problems that seemed insurmountable earlier…kind of seemed manageable now.

Emily watches "Shazam! Fury of the Gods"
I think Zachary Levi is aging out of this role (because Asher Angel is aging into it). It's weird Billy doesn't keep his same body when Mary does and she was the same age as him in the first movie, I think. Or maybe they will just recast Billy instead?
There would be a real logistical challenge to making the third one hinted at in the second post credits scene.
Spoiler cut
Love Helen Mirren as a goddess. Maybe that goes without saying.
I kept thinking the random women saved in bystander scenes were Billy's biological mom. I don't know why. I guess I only remember she's a white lady with blondish hair and that is EVERYONE they cast as extras. SPOILER ALERT: None of them are. We don't go back to that well of pain for Billy.
I think it was wise to revive Djimon Honsou as the Wizard. I think he was underutilized in the first movie. And this time we got to see his biceps! So that's a plus. (Him removing the splinter from under his finger nail was tough for me though.)
I thought the scenes with him and talented-despite-being-a-nepo-baby Jack Dylan Grazer were some of the best.
Although, I did not really believe Rachel Zegler was into him. Like maybe she liked him as a friend and respected him as a person. But them like living together at the end? That's insane male writer fantasy shit. As a disabled person who loves superheroes, I would also totally do what Freddy does and turn into his "good" body all the time. But I think that needs to be examined and questioned, which Billy wants to bring up but it never gets addressed further. Not rewarded with hot immortal goddess love. Like the actors are very good and she does a lot in her performance to make it convincing, but I have concerns.
I was glad my fave Darla was able to see unicorns. But I thought the CGI was bad. I really wanted them to look like Lisa Frank cartoons after they ate the PRODUCT PLACEMENT. That would've been such a better choice.
Love Helen Mirren as a goddess. Maybe that goes without saying.
Very happy everyone is cool with Pedro being gay.
I thought seeing Billy's broken body was kind of dark. I mean, I guess the first one had that scenes where the Seven Deadly Sins attack a board room of people, but you don't see much. And even the bad guy lives at the end. Here there are deaths (and resurrections), I guess.
Diana is the real hero of the DC films. I think we all know that, right?
I wasn't a fan of the post-credits scene. Two characters from "Peacemaker" show up and ask Shazam to join the "Justice Society" that Amanda Waller is putting together. The two tones don't really match. And like is Black Adam's Justice Society the same one Waller is building here? Is this all going to get fucked around in Flash, probably.
I want to talk to some fellow nerds about Flash too. I don't know if I can go see it in good conscience. I know a lot of actors are problematic but... I feel kind of awful being like "lol it's got Michael Keaton so I don't care about Ezra's behavior anymore".
Is anyone else conflicted??

I watched Black Adam for my 18th birthday, here's my spoiler filled thoughts
So I watched it a couple of nights ago for my birthday with my sister and my brother in law. Here's my overall thoughts
-I'm going to lose a LOT of money because I made a boat load of bets that Hawkman dies
*on a separate point, isn't it a little funny that Dr. Fate had to fight canon itself to make sure that Hawkman survived?
-I liked The Rock as Black Adam
*I wouldn't say he's the spitting image of Teth-Adam, but Dwayne Johnson is charming enough
*While I haven't actively read Black Adam comics, I've read him as a guest character in other books to get a general feel for his personality. I wouldn't say it's blatant character assasination, but it's also a more loose interpretation. I do love his costume, both before and after. Just a little salty he didn't have the pointy ears
*I admit his backstory was a little confusing, after a solid second I understood. But, it felt like a problem I often see Grant Morrison or Tom King fall into where the direction is supposed to be conveying more than it's actually showing. It makes sense, it just might take a minute for the non-comic readers to completely get it.
*Also, am I the only one who missed the part where Black Adam actually chose to surrender? I know he made an alliance with the JSA, but I thought that was always on a flimsy foothold. Black Adam doesn't seem like the type to just choose to surrender. Maybe I'm just remembering wrong?
-Not too fond of the OC's
*If they were better acted, I would've liked them more, especially the kid. That kid at times was really charming, and at other times, was really emotionless
*I did like the electrician brother, and "don't worry, I die by electricity" legitimately made me laugh
-I really liked the JSA
*Twister was fine, didn't have too much of a defined personality, but she was fine and her tornado sequences were some of my favorite directed portions of the movie
*Atom Smasher was maybe my favorite. Noah Centineo was a really good cast for what they wanted. I liked the fact they mentioned he was a successor character. I'm a sucker for continuity like that. My sister was shocked to see the guy from Kissing Booth in a superhero movie, and so was I. But he did what he was told
*Hawkman was fine. He wasn't abysmal. I feel like I got small bread crumbs of his character relationships. Like with Dr. Fate, I don't need the entire backstory explained, but I feel like we should've gotten a heart to heart before Fate died to really hit hard. And with Atom Smasher, I feel like his "me and you are talking on the ship" bit should've gotten some type of payoff. Like somehow Atom Smasher should've saved Hawkman and Carter should've gone "Me and you baby! Me and you!" but in a happy way. It felt like Checkov's Gun was never fired. Also, I feel like he should've gotten more moments with Black Adam. From the trailers it looked liked they went from enemies to rivals, but that kind of happened in a snap. I feel like the scene where they were gathering the kidnappers of OC Boy should've been their bonding moment.
*Dr. Fate was definitely my favorite. Everything he said was golden. I've got no critiques on him. He was awesome. Pitch perfect cast. Also, random ramble, but I love that this helmet of fate has no eye holes. That kind of makes perfect metaphorical sense, and I'm shocked that nobody's really done that before.
-Thoughts on the post-credit scene
*God, I am glad to see Henry Cavill back as Superman. Also, am I the only one who noticed that his costume is brighter? God, I love it when his costume is bright. It's awesome. I heard a grown man squeal in my audience. I geeked out with the dude beside me. It was awesome. Bona fide nerd moment.
*Also how on God's mostly blue Earth does Superman owe Amanda Waller a favor? Unless if she know's who Clark really is, I would think that if anything, she owes Superman a favor. I don't know. Little pet peeve I have. I'm just glad to see him back
-Overall Story Opinions
*Fine. I won't say it's the next coming of Christ, but it's solid. It's fun. It's better than anything Marvel's put out since Endgame besides No Way Home. It definitely feels unique. And I feel like unique is what DC is aiming for. My life wasn't changed, but I had a good time at the theatre, and I want to see these characters again.
-Overall Ranking
*7.5/10
*This is going by the Cosmonaut Scale where 5 is completely average. I definitely had fun, I might even watch this a time or two again, but it's not life changing. Lemme know what you thought!

Little Light Chapter 2
Lucy was furious, but she hid her emotions well. She went over to her suitcase and pulls out her laptop and medical supplies. She presses the power button and goes over to the bathroom while Barry looks around the big room in curiosity.
When she takes off her black tank top she is relived and pissed at the same time. When it is off of her body she can clearly see that it is in tatters and her body is marked with two different types of wounds, flesh wounds and bullet grazes. The grazes she quickly cleans up and bandages, but when it comes time to deal with the flesh wounds she stops. There are two flesh wounds, one in her left arm and one in her left leg. As she inspects and feels them while wincing she finds that the bullets went through clean, without hitting and major arteries. Lucy throws on a random red tank top and calls in Barry.
“Do you know how to sew?”
“Yeah why do you- Oh god you’re bleeding!”
“Yeah. I can see that. Can you help me stitch up my arm?”
“I suddenly feel light headed.”
“That should be my line.” Lucy then grabs some floss and a needle. “All I need you to do is hold my arm steady and hold the wound shut.”
“Is that floss?”
“Yes. It keeps my wounds minty fresh.” She then directs Barry how to hold her arm and the wound, then she begins.
“Doesn’t this hurt?”
“Yeah, but after a while you get used to it.” Barry then looks at Lucy with concern but she just brushes it off as she continues to pull her skin back together. Barry looks very queasy while Lucy look calm, unaffected by what she is doing.
After she stitches up her arm she pushes Barry out of the bathroom and handles her leg a lot quicker and with less interuptions. When she is done she discards her tattered jeans and slips on black sweatpants.
When she leaves the bathroom her computer is started up. She flops onto her bed and types in her password and instead of the normal desktop appearing a database appears. She moves her cursor to the search bar and types in inhanced humans. The moment she hits the search button multiple documents pop up with different sections highlighted. They keep popping up until they fill up the screen and start overlapping each other. Lucy sighs and Barry comes to lay next to her, looking over her shoulder.
“Whatcha doin’” Barry asks as he looks.
“Trying to figure out who is trying to kill us.” As Lucy reads over the documents she pauses. She then goes up to the search bar again and adds to it and hits search again. About half of the results go away and all that remains is relevant information. What remains is info on Superman, a woman named Diana Prince, an “Aquaman”, a boy grew up in Gotham, and the man of the hour, Barry Allen.
“Who is Amanda Waller?” Lucy then pull out her phone and scrolls through her contacts.
“The woman who about to be on the recieving end of an angry phone call.” Lucy then gets up and walks out to the hallway but is stopped by a man with her pizza order, who she quickly gives money to and hands the pizza boxes to Barry as she shuts the door in Barry’s face. She then glares at the delivery boy who quickly scatters out of the hallway. When he is gone she goes through her contacts until she finds Waller’s number, dialing it.
“What do you want Lucy?” Lucy controls her voice as she responds.
“Oh, nothing much, just asking a few questions.”
“Such as?”
“Did you dispatch a team to a hospital to attempt to take in an enhanced named Barry Allen?”
“I am not allowed to say-“
“So, I’m going to assume the answer is yes. Here’s how this is going to work Waller. You are going to observe the target, but if I hear so much as sqeak of a boot I will be all over your ass.” Amanda tries to talk buy gets cut off. “I have the assets, money, and power to take you and your little Suicide Squad project down, so don’t even try me! Lay a hand on Barry and you are as good as dead! Are we clear?” Lucy hears a harsh whisper of an agreement on the other end. “Good. Have a nice day.” Lucy then hangs up and opens the door, just for Barry to come tumbling out with a shocked face.
“So, I’m guessing you heard all of that?” When Barry looks away meekly Lucy sighs. “Let’s talk about this while we eat pizza.” She then reaches down and pulls him up. Then, they walk inside.
Lucy stares at Barry as he starts his second box of pizza. “So...where should I begin?”
“How do you know her?” Barry asks between bites, making her wince slightly.
“I come from a very influential family, having their money in many organizations, with some good and some bad. Waller’s program is what I would call a necessary evil ever since Superman showed himself. When that happened all of the enhanced people showed themselves, and not all of them are good like you, so countermeasures were introduced, such as the Suicide Squad. My father helped them with funds and they help us by sharing info when needed.”
“So you don’t know her directly?”
“Nope. That makes threatening a dangerous woman a little bit easier. Especially when I have you here speedy.”
“What are we going to do now?” At this point he has finished the pizza and stands in front of Lucy.
“I know a place here in Central City so that we can continue to go to school and you can still see your father.”
“Where is it?”
“You’ll see. One of my brothers and I used to crash there when we would travel out here.”
“I thought you grew up in Gotham?” Barry gives Lucy a confused look.
“I visited Central City from time to time when my brothers or my father had business here.” She then paused and realized something. “So, how are we gonna deal with the elephant in the room?”
“What do you think I should do?” Barry asks Lucy, looking at her with the Puppy Eyes, but she stands her ground.
“It doesn’t matter what I think. This is your powers and your life Bar. I’m just here to help you when you decide what to do, but if you need a special suit for running around with your powers let me know. I know a guy.” She then puts her hand on his shoulder and gives him a small smile.
“It seems like you know a lot of people.” Lucy then laughs.
“It sure seems like it, huh.”

Enter Amanda Waller.

so i recently started thinking about rick flag x reader x adrian and omfg? like yeah i know rick's not CANONICALLY alive but fuck canon i say rick flag is alive and joined the team to take on the butterflies and i feel like adrian and rick would have such a similar dynamic to how rick and harley are? and the reader being mostly like adrian but also being such a sweetheart and being all soft with the two? and the sex? god i feel like adrian would just MELT at rick's accent and become practically putty, doing whatever rick wanted and the two of them together would mean you receive the most pleasure and love and attention, ESPECIALLY when rick is in charge? like that man will shove adrian's face between your legs and tell him to be good and to make you feel good. sorry if this seems very weird or random or if it was very like graphic
UM ANON THIS IS NOT WEIRD, OR RANDOM, IM OBSESSED WITH THIS AND THAT ONE PART IN PARTICULAR, ABOUT RICK TAKING CONTROL... it's drabble time. (i say drabble, this ended up being just over 1k words bye)
yes sir [dom!rick flag x sub!reader x sub!adrian chase]

"Are ya gonna be a good boy for us now, Adrian?" Flag drawled, his large hand well and truly tangled in Adrian's soft, brown curls as he gripped it at the crown.
"Y-yes Sir..." Adrian sputtered, trying not to provoke Flag further as the Colonel held his head inches away from your wetness. Flag didn't have to say a thing, the loud smack of his palm against Adrian's bare, red ass did all the talking for him.
"YESSIR!" Adrian cried, his calves squirming against the mattress as he bowed before you, Flag kneeling dangerously close behind him.
Looking up, Adrian could see the trails of your tears glistening from your face, all the way down to your heaving chest. Your head was thrown back in frustration and overstimulation, resting in between your raised arms as your wrists burned above you, shackled to the top of the headboard.
"Can ya take any more darlin'?" Flag asked you. You couldn't see him clearly through your blissed-out haze, but you could hear the smirk in his voice.
"Yessir." you sobbed, putting all the energy you had left into making sure your answer was firm and clear, to Flag's satisfaction.
You cried out as you felt Flag shove Adrian's face back into your cunt, body instantly writhing at the overstimulation.
Flag had been doing this for what felt like hours, after he came home to find the kitchen in absolute disarray, and you and Adrian fucking on the couch like rabbits. In reality, he didn't mind the last part one bit, hell, he wasn't even that pissed off about the kitchen.
But he knew the two of you liked to play, and after a vexing day at work answering to Amanda Waller at her every beck and call, he knew the two of you would gladly face the business end of whatever tension he needed to let out.
Hence why the kitchen was a perfect excuse for him to ruin the two of you, and after half an hour or so of completely overstimulating you, and completely depriving Adrian of any release, Flag was starting to feel a lot better than he did when he first arrived home.
Adrian immediately began to suck on your clit, his face pressed far too harshly in between your legs to allow his tongue to swirl and dart around like it usually did. Your legs started twitching involuntarily at the sensation, though gladly it took some of your focus away from your aching, swollen clit.
"Please, Sir," you bawled, weakly lifting your head up to see Flag watching the two of you with dark, hungry eyes, "Please Sir I c-, I can't..."
"You can't what, darlin'? You're gunna have to speak up." Flag teased, still forcefully holding Adrian's head in it's place, his curly mop of hair bobbing up and down as he obediently continued to devour you with fervour. All you had left in you was a pained wail, your skull colliding with the headboard as it dropped back in overwhelm at the vibrations sent through your body from another one of Adrian's desperate growls.
His cock was engorged, red and throbbing and leaking as it stood to attention. The smell of your arousal as it coated his face and the smell of Flag's sweat as it coated his nostrils taunted Adrian, dangling the promise of release right in front of his nose before cruelly snatching it away, over and over again.
Flag finally relented, pulling Adrian's face away from between your thighs for good and releasing the painful grip on Adrian's scalp as he pushed him forward to collapse on top of you. Flag always loved watching this part.
Flag lined himself up with Adrian as he watched the scene unfold below him. Adrian was writhing on top of you desperately, hips involuntarily jutting forward at the very notion of getting his dick wet.
All you could do was spread your weak, shaky legs as best as you could and wait for Adrian's cock to find it's way in as he groped at you like a feral, untamed beast. Flag knew that Adrian wouldn't be able to help himself, purposefully getting him so worked up that once Flag let go of the reins, Adrian would be inside you in seconds, using your exhausted body to finally find the release that he ached for.
A blissful sigh of relief slipped out from between Adrian's lips as he finally entered you, though before his lungs could fully empty themselves, his sigh was bulldozed by a satisfied grunt.
Adrian's head dropped to your collarbone as he rutted the rest of his cock inside you, his motion propelled by the force of Flag entering him.
The three of you lay there for a moment, bodies stuck together with arousal, sweat and tears as you all adjusted. Adrian tried to steady his breathing as he focussed on not letting go just yet, though with how enticingly your velvet-like pussy pulsed around him, it was proving to be an almost impossible task.
The moment Flag's hips started to move, Adrian's did too. From your spot underneath the two men, with your hands still bound high above your head, you had absolutely zero leverage to adjust your body, meaning you were stuck sobbing below them as Adrian's pelvis excruciatingly rubbed against your clit each time he plowed his cock back into you.
Neither Flag or Adrian would last very long under the conditions, though after a torturous amount of teasing, both of them were hungry for release and in no state to prolong it's arrival.
Adrian was the first to let go, hips stuttering against your pelvis in between your legs. As always, he buried his cock so deep you swore that if you looked down, you'd see it bulging out through your stomach. Adrian continued to fuck you long after he'd filled you up entirely, he always adored fucking his seed back into you and feeling it dribble out around him until he was no longer physically able to.
Flag's release came soon after, his strong hands selfishly bouncing Adrian back onto his cock to use him like a fuck toy as he grunted through perfect, gritted teeth, his toned chest heaving up and down in surrender.
The last thing Flag did was make quick work to unshackle you, and once he'd gotten through to you, past your fucked-out haze to make sure you were alright, he collapsed right in the middle of the king bed, arms splayed out to rest right under each pillow.
Like clockwork, you and Adrian snuggled under each of his arms, none of you caring in the least about cleanup in that moment- that could wait until morning.
Flag was the lightest sleeper either of you had ever met, though between you playing gently with the hair at the nape of his neck, and Adrian softly drawing shapes atop his robust pecs, Flag was sound asleep in mere minutes, with the two of you following closely behind.

The Betrayal (Adrian Chase)
Summary: You find out the truth about what happened to your brother, Rick Flag, at the worst possible time.
Word Count: 2.0k
Notes: This is my first actual Adrian fic! Very angsty, of course, because writing about death is always going to come with angst. Um, warnings for Peacemaker's racist father, talks of death, Adrian being his sociopathic self. Let me know if you guys liked this, wanna see more, or whatever. Would love to chat more about Vigilante; my inbox is always open!
Also should I do an Adrian taglist? IDK let me know that too ig

You've tried to keep your emotions in check in this truck that's stolen from a veterinarian's office, knowing that there's a time for settling personal differences, and that time's not while you're technically on the clock. But as Adebayo tries to apologize about the betrayal of planting a fake diary among Peacemaker's trailer, the words from butterfly-Locke's press conference continue to play over and over in your head.
"In the diary, Smith also confesses to the murder of decorated US Army Colonel Rick Flag, whose death on a covert mission in Corto Maltese was originally believed to be accidentally caused by the collapse of a building known as Jötunheim."
You need to know. A part of you already knows that this is true, what with the way that Chris has been avoiding directly talking to you since the press conference aired. But still, you need it said out loud. Did Chris kill Rick? Was his death not what you were led to believe?
"Actually Chris, I give a fuck," you say, speaking up for the first time all afternoon. "Let's keep talking about this."
Adebayo rolls her eyes. "Not you, too."
"Shut up. Is it true?" You turn your attention on Peacemaker, who looks like he doesn't know what you're referencing. For a second, you think that maybe this was also one of many lies that the diary contained. "Is it true that you killed Rick?"
His face falls, and the breath escapes you all at once. Suddenly, it feels like the day that you found out Rick died all over again.
"It is. Oh fuck, it's true," you say.
"He was going to expose Project Starfish to the world," Peacemaker explains quietly, "and my mission was to make sure that information didn't get out."
"You murdered my brother!" He stares straight ahead, and the only sign of any emotion is the slight trembling in his jaw. "He trusted you. You were his teammate, his fellow soldier, and you murdered him."
Adrian says your name gently, putting a hand on your shoulder to try and defuse the situation from where he's sitting next to you, but there's no going back now. Not when you're seeing red and staring at the man who ripped Rick from your life.
"How did you do it?" you ask, standing up and shoving him in the chest. He doesn't move, but it feels good while you do it. "Did you look at him while he died? Actually, no. I wanna know his last words. What did he say while you watched him die?"
"If it makes you feel better, Rick called Chris a joke," Economos mutters from the front of the truck in what he must think is a reassurance.
Harcourt groans. "Dude, seriously?" You can hardly hear it, though, over the ringing in your ears.
“Oh my god. You knew?” Your voice doesn’t come out nearly as strong as you want it to be, so you walk up to the front to make sure you can confront them directly. “You knew that Peacemaker killed Rick, and you didn’t say anything to me?”
Economos is the first of the two to speak up. “We were given direct orders to—”
“As if you haven’t disobeyed Amanda Waller’s direct orders before. In fact, you disobeyed her orders on that very mission! That's how you ended up here in the first place.” You scoff before turning on Harcourt. “You’re my roommate, Emilia. My friend. You’ve comforted me when I’ve cried about how much I miss Rick, and this whole time…”
"I wanted to tell you," Harcourt says, finally looking at you, "but it just...was never the right time. When was I supposed to bring up that Chris did what he did?"
"I don't know, maybe when I started to trust him? I've been on the same team with the fuckhead who killed Rick without any sort of remorse, and you guys just—just let me go along without knowing the truth!"
They want to try and apologize, you're sure, or at least try to redeem themselves, but you're done. You're completely and utterly done. Turning on your heel, you ignore the way that Adebayo tries to get your attention, and how Chris still refuses to look away from the point on the wall that he's been staring at, and even Adrian when he grabs at your hand. You don't know who knows or doesn't know, and at this point you have no choice but to assume that they were all in on this. Instead, you sit at the very back of the truck, as far away from everybody else as you can be, turn your back on them, and cry as silently as you can.
The team awkwardly tries to resume their regular banter once you arrive at the farm where the cow's being kept, but it's a little hard for humor and sarcasm to land when you can't even look them in the eye. The only one that you're not mad at is Eagly, and even he pisses you off when he naturally doesn't follow commands and drops Peacemaker's sonic boom helmet in the middle of the woods.
"So, how did you find out?" you finally ask Adrian as the two of you work at searching your designated area to find the helmet, the team paired together in twos to fan out through the forest. "Was it as accidental as you joining the team? Or was it something funny for you and Chris to laugh at when he recounted all the people he's killed in the name of 'peace'?"
"I didn't know, actually."
"Oh." You sigh. "Sorry for assuming you knew."
"It's okay. Kinda seemed like I would know, considering Peacemaker's my best friend and all."
You laugh sharply. "Don't tell me you're bitter about not knowing my brother was murdered."
"Yikes, sorry, that was—" he grimaces, "that didn't come out the way that I meant it."
"I get it. My attempt at a joke, I guess."
It's quiet for a few minutes, both of you focused on finding a glint of chrome among the leaves. Finally, you feel like you need to speak. Be it the silence or the fact that Adrian's the only one you can still trust: once the words start, they don't stop.
"It's been a hard few months since Rick died. And then I go on this mission because it's the type of thing that Rick would do, and I start making connections and bonding with the absolute weirdest fucking people I've ever met. Soon enough, I can make it through the day without crying, and it feels like I can finally breathe again. And smile again. And laugh again.
"And now this shit, with the butterflies attacking and Peacemaker's Nazi dad trying to kill us and finding out that my friend killed Rick and my other friends knew about it. I should be mad, but I just keep thinking that I can't be mad, because Rick wouldn't be mad. He was always infuriatingly calm, even when he had every right to get angry."
"Hey, don't cry again," Adrian says awkwardly, removing his mask in what he probably thinks is a comforting way. "C'mon, stand up."
You're about to question what he's seeing when you realize that you're crying again, on your knees in the middle of the forest. Of course, the one person who knows nothing about emotions is the one that you're having a breakdown in front of. Naturally, this makes you cry harder.
In a repeat of earlier, Adrian makes stiff movements and pats your shoulder. "Gentle, nice touching."
"It didn't work with Chris, and it's not gonna work with me," you say, smiling up at him. "Thanks for the effort though."
"Your brother wouldn't want you to be sad." You know he probably saw this on Fargo, but it surprisingly does help.
"I know. But he's also the one who's dead, and he doesn't have to deal with this," you wave your hands in front of you, "this mess that he left behind. He left me here, and now I have to watch my mom be a shell of a person, and how my dad can't say Rick's name without crying. I don't even have Rick to confide in."
"I know what it's like to lose someone," Adrian says, finally sitting down next to you. "My dad left my mom for a dude. We haven't really heard from him in years."
"Damn," you let out a low whistle. "That's rough."
"It's okay, they're very much in love. The whole divorce was really rough for my mom, though. I know it's not the same as someone dying, but I lost my dad, and then I had to watch my mom deal with that. It sucks. I wish I could say something better than 'it gets better', but I can't, because it does. It just...gets better, for everyone involved."
"I'm not forgiving Chris," you say adamantly.
"Nobody said you had to forgive him, or the others." Somehow, that makes you feel better than anything else Adrian's said. You've already been feeling the pressure to forgive him for this heinous thing, and forgive the others for lying about their knowledge of what Chris had done. Even though the outside party giving you permission to feel your feelings is a sociopath, he's still someone whose opinion you care about.
"Thanks, Adrian." Adrian stiffens next to you when you lay your head on his shoulder in thanks, and you stifle a laugh. He's been helpful today. You'll laugh about it tomorrow. "Y'know, you're actually pretty good at giving advice."
"I learned it all from Fargo."
Now you do laugh. "Knew it."
Your comms suddenly crackle to life, and Harcourt gives the news that she and Peacemaker found the helmet. Adrian hops to his feet and, after a moment, offers his hand to help you up. "You ready to go?" he asks.
Dusting yourself off, you look up at him while he slips his mask on and nods. There's a time and a place for you to continue to work through this mess, but that's after getting out of the other, more deadly mess. "Let's go kill us a fucking cow."

It is time. It is finally time for the new Suicide Squad rant (and spoilers will be plentiful):
As someone who was into DC Comics and comics in the mid to late 2010s and had so much hype for the first Suicide Squad movie only to be let down, I was so nervous for this one. I knew it was going to be a roller coaster, but whether I would come out happy or disappointed was up in the air. Having just seen it I will say this: I have no idea if this was a good movie-movie. It was insane. The comedy. The violence. The high emotion. I’m still trying to take it all in. But one thing I do know is that this is an amazing Suicide Squad movie. Gunn and co took the best parts of the comic concept and went batshit with it and that is how this property should be handled (in my opinion). Screw edgelordisms, we need full on insanity free of aiming for shock-value or sexy brutality we want chaos baby.
Starting the whole movie as they did, with Savant as the POV for a mission (or part of the mission) that just goes to hell immediately and kills off so many before the title arrives is the perfect way to start this movie. Like the second I realized this was how they were doing it I was just smiling from ear to ear, this is the spirit of the property.
Part of me wishes we got more Amanda Waller, but what we had was impeccable. Then again, this is Viola Davis we’re talking about, and if she was born to play any character in a superhero story, it is Amanda Waller.
And points to her tech team, introducing them with the death bets was just a lovely way to show how regular this is and how awful everyone is in this movie.
I’m not going to pretend like Deadshot and Bloodsport didn’t have the exact same character- and plot premises… but I will say that Bloodsport felt better executed.
I love that they kept some of the past members and not just Harley. Rick Flag got to have a full personality and interactions with his team members and to be a true leader and it made me so happy for someone who initially did not give a single shit about his character. The Harley friendship? The Dubois friendship? The friendship with that guerilla leader? Amazing. The one American soldier in fictional media I genuinely like. You go Mr Flag.
The new members were… they were insane in the best way. Gone are the shitty stereotypes and present are some of the wackiest creations to ever grace the mainstream movie-sphere (aka the slightly less normal comic creations): A man who has to shoot out polka dots two times a day so as not to die from a space virus. A giant child murdering weasel. A guy who detaches his limbs and slaps people with said detached limbs. King Shark. The second person to command rats with a fancy gadget. They are all crazy and all weird and all more or less morally repulsive people and I love them.
The amount of times I did a double take over the soundtrack I swear. Jessie Reyez? The Pixies? It was so much fun to pick up on once I did.
Was the depiction of a vague Latin American country stereotypical? Yes. Was the secret American involvement predictable and felt mildly patronizing from a non-American, part Latina point of view? Yep. But damn it if I didn’t have a good time with those stereotypes and laugh my ass off at how well executed some were. I don’t know if it was meant as parody, but that one secretary has me thinking so — and if so I am pleased.
Speaking of Latino dictators Harley’s one day romance with one of the villains was something I never knew I needed. Like it was so perfect for Harley that when it happened I almost hit myself for not realizing that this kind of plot should be a normal thing for Harley. And the end of it? Perfect not only in this standalone movie, but also in conjunction with the first and with BoP.
The Taika Waititi cameo??? Oh my god??? I did not expect that and I love it?? Sir, What We Do in the Shadows is impeccable.
Rick Flag’s death actually surprised me. It shouldn’t as this is Suicide Squad, but I kind of expected him to be on Harley’s level of unkillable (because let’s face it, no one kills Harley). What I will say is that his death was good and his final words and actions made me love him all the more. I hope this spawns more Rick Flag content, or at least inspires me to look at what already exists, if he already is as this movie made him (it’s been ages since I read one of the Suicide Squad reboot comics okay).
Starro. How can a villain be so wacky and so terrifying at the same time? I did not expect a literal alien starfish to have more terrifying powers and a more tragic plot execution than Enchantress. But here we are. And that damn star just wanted to be floating in space, and instead it was stuck getting revenge by killing and puppeteering human corpses. Wow that thing was creepier the more you think about it.
I don’t know what I think about Polka Dot Man. I loved watching him on screen but also damn those mommy-issues were on a new level. Not just in his backstory but how he literally sees her in every person around him that was insane. Very funny but like also the kind that makes you laugh just because you’re uncomfortable and don’t know how else to releive the tension.
When Waller got knocked out by a staff member I immediately thought «oh my god Amanda Waller is going to kill half the staff for this», so I’m mildly surprised and disappointed that I didn’t get to see that happen. But also I should maybe expect something like this in a potential future Suicide Squad movie. We can’t have everything in a movie as packed as this.
Peacemaker was very horrible and worked really well. Don’t really have much to say about him, not because I didn’t enjoy him but because I already feel like the film itself has said it for me. But the planting and payoff for his death? Chef’s. Kiss.
Harley’s wardrobe was beautiful. Ratcatcher 2’s combat outfit felt like a steampunk plague dream. Bloodsport’s mask was supercool. Rick Flag’s t-shirt was amazing. But the best little outfit was the Mafalda-keychain and her red dress, hands down. Oh and King Shark’s fake moustache finger moment.
King Shark is shaped like a friend I don’t care how many people he ate alive on screen he looks so huggable. It feels like wanting to pet a bear. You know it will kill you but damn it look at those paws and those cute eyes!
I really need to give it to not just James Gunn but the entire production team for this movie. The aesthetic was perfect. The story was the right blend of whimsical and violent. The finished product was a literal rollercoaster and I mean that in a good way. If superhero movies have to be like amusement parks, I hope they’re more like this one and BoP.
I’ll finish on the note that while I think this movie was great and hopefully a step in the right direction for the DCU/DCEU (as in stop trying to play Marvel’s game and just do your own thing/ let your creative teams run wild and free), it is not the first step. Cathy Yan, Birds of Prey and the production team for it took a step first, and they deserve due credit and attention. If you loved this Suicide Squad movie and haven’t watched BoP yet, do so. Because they really are in the same ballpark while doing things in slightly different ways. And any good DCEU movie deserves more attention so the studios know that creativity and risks should be rewarded. I want more DC movies like this, not necessarily in genre but in creative risks. I want a Black Canary rock movie. I want Alfred in a reverse heist movie alone in the batcave against Gotham villains. I want Gotham Academy on screen play by play from the comics. I want a fully animated psychedelic-like Khalid Nassour as Dr. Fate movie. I want elevated horror movie Constantine. I want weird ass Lois Lane journalist movies with a heavy side of Superman. And I want DC movies I didn’t even know I wanted.
Support creativity in mainstream comic movies. Help me become a DC fan and happy about it again.
