#glad Team Gai got the recognition they deserve

So now that the World Wide Naruto Poll is over what's your honest opinion on the Winner?
Honestly, I'm glad Minato won. He's a likeable character with a lot of unexplored backstory, so I'm optimistic that his spin-off manga will offer some nice world-building if nothing else.
Is he my favorite character? No. But I don't know too many people who outright hate Minato either, so it's a relief not to worry about a fandom war breaking out.
Half the Uchiha clan got in the top 20, as did half the Akatsuki. I feel like that says a lot about the fandom. But I'm okay with that. The only person I felt did not deserve the top 20 spot was Jiraiya, who belongs in the trash.
As for the Konoha 12, I'm not surprised at where most of them ended up. Most were either really popular, or clustered around mid-tier. Though I feel bad for Choji, who scored leagues below everybody else. Even Akamaru outperformed him.

I’m so glad that Jimmy jam and Terry Lewis are being recognized by the rock and roll hall of fame. If there’s anyone who deserves this honor it’s definitely them
The Rock Hall of Fame opens to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis
“It's all about taking people — young, old, white, Black, straight, gay, Democrat or Republican, whatever — and for the time we’re on stage, bring all of them together,” said Jam. “If you could do that, that to me is the magic of music.”

NEW YORK (AP) — The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year will induct Eminem, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon and two guys in sunglasses who have scored more No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100 than all of those other acts combined.
Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are the rare songwriting and producing team to get into the prestigious hall, and they hope it will lead to more artists like them being inducted.
Tumblr media
The duo’s chart-topping pop hits include Janet Jackson’s “When I Think of You;” Mariah Carey’s “Thank God I Found You;” George Michael’s “Monkey;” Boyz II Men’s “On Bended Knee;” Janet and Michael Jackson’s “Scream;” and Mary J. Blige’s “No More Drama.” They have five Grammys and went into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017.
“I don’t know if you could ever recognize songwriters enough. I mean, they are the fuel that fuels everything,” said Lewis. “There are great songwriters out there that never get the shine that they deserve.”
One song in particular might typify the Jam and Lewis range — “Got ’Til It’s Gone,” which combines a folk sample from Joni Mitchell, the hip-hop of Q-Tip and Janet Jackson’s R&B voice. “We’re kind of at a crossroads or an intersection of a lot of different music,” said Jam.
Jam and Lewis started out in competing bands and became part of Prince’s band, The Time, in Minneapolis. After parting ways with The Purple One, the duo established a recording studio and production company. Their collaboration with Janet Jackson on her monster albums “Control” and “Rhythm Nation 1814” solidified them as hitmakers.
The Rock Hall on Saturday will also induct Eurythmics, Duran Duran, Judas Priest, Harry Belafonte, Elizabeth Cotten and Pat Benatar. Jam anticipated that one act closely associated with the duo would be the one who inducts them but didn’t go into specifics, raising speculation that it will be Janet Jackson.
Tumblr media
They grew up listening to different genres. Jam was a pop fan, soaking in Seals and Crofts, America and Chicago. Lewis leaned more toward Parliament-Funkadelic and Earth, Wind & Fire. “Terry liked the funky bottom. I like the pretty top,” said Jam. You can hear that combo throughout their career, starting with their first hit, S.O.S. Band’s “Just Be Good to Me.”
They’re responsible for more than 50 Billboard No. 1 songs on the pop, R&B and dance charts for everyone from Rod Stewart and Sting to Patti LaBelle. They tailor the song to the artist and choose for themselves a non-nonsense wardrobe of black suits and sunglasses. Next year, they celebrate their partnership hitting its 50th anniversary.
“We’re kind of at a point of our careers where we don’t have anything to prove, but we still have a lot to say,” said Jam. “We just want to leave music in a better place, whether it’s through technology, whether it’s through the songs we make, whether it’s the people we influence that are making music now.”
Turn on the radio and you will likely immediately hear the influence of Jam and Lewis. Famed Swedish producer Max Martin channeled the duo while crafting hits for Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC. Charlie Puth is a fan, and Bruno Mars gave the pair a shout-out on the Grammy stage for paving the way when he won album of the year for “24K Magic.”
One thing Jam and Lewis would like to see change is more recognition for the folks behind the tunes. Lewis worries that music today is often seen like a utility, a faceless service like water or electricity that’s taken for granted. Jam misses the days when a record sleeve included tons of information about the music makers, like the name of the engineer and mixer.
Tumblr media
These days, it’s hard to find credits on streaming sites and the duo think that’s a problem. “What it does is it devalues the music because it communicates the idea that music just comes out of nowhere. It doesn’t come out of nowhere. There’s people in this,” Jam said.
After decades of making music for other people, Jam and Lewis last year made their debut album as artists, “Jam and Lewis, Volume One” featuring Babyface, Toni Braxton and Mariah Carey. They plan on more such albums and hope to perform live next year, too.
The goal then — as it always has been for these men who push the sonic envelope — is to build a musical bridge in this time of divisions.
“It’s all about taking people — young, old, white, Black, straight, gay, Democrat or Republican, whatever — and for the time we’re on stage, bring all of them together,” said Jam. “If you could do that, that to me is the magic of music.”

Helloooo congratulations on 500!!! You totally deserve it!! I’m so glad you’re getting the recognition you deserve!!!
I’m Ronnie! I participated in your first matchup event! :D hello again! I would like to request a matchup <3
My name is Aaron and my friends call me Ronnie!
My pronouns are he/him and I’m a gay trans man!
My hobbies are drawing and roller skating, one of which I am still learning ⁽͑ʺ˚̀˙̪̺˚́ʺ⁾̉ I also like to bake! Deserts are my specialty and favorite things to bake! Σ(・ω・ノ)ノ I still like to play video games from time to time!!
I still like emoticons and use them to this day, never stopped ( ◕‿‿◕ ). Skating is amazing even if I do fall from time to time. I’ve gotten into poetry so I’ve been writing that for a few days. Thunder storms are still my number one favorite thing on this planet!!!! ᕙ(`▽´)ᕗ and I still like talking lmao, never got tired of running my mouth (◑_◑) I love winter!!!! Bundling up and having a reason to get warm and cozy :] horror stories!
I hate, hate hate hate hate, with a burning passion, hot weather. All my clothing is black so I’m burning up by the end of the day ●︿● I also despise cucumbers. And a lot of other vegetables.
Some things about me is that I’m proud to say I’ve changed! I managed to get rid of my standoffish attitude and am now much more approachable. I tend to be more on the quiet side when first meeting people since I want to know if they’re the kind of person I want to be friends with. Though I am able to stand up to people if they’re saying shitty things they don’t need to be saying. I can be independent when I want to be, though I chose to have team effort for most things.
I don’t mind being matched with either one! Surprise me! 「(•⌒▽⌒•)ゞ
Again, congratulations! You deserve every follower you have! I’m so happy to see you’ve grown so much!!! Have a great time and I hope you keep your passion for writing!!! ♡♡♡♡
Note(s): Thank you so muchh ^^ I kind of hope to see this number growing because I love to have this kind of audience with me while I keep on growing as a human and a writer. I hope you enjoy your matchup, Ronnie!
I match you up with…
Tumblr media
Tengen Uzui!
» Something about your personality clicked with me right away! There's literally no way you and Uzui wouldn't get along in a way or another, and I think that his rather flamboyant personality goes well with your energetic one.
» Another thing I like about this match is the fact that you love winters because it gives you a reason to stay warm and cozy. After all, as we all probably know, Uzui's warm and hot personality and body-wise, so he can help you feel snug during cold nights!
» I'm also glad to hear that you've managed to grow up as a person! Uzui's more than happy for you when it comes to it, and he loves to watch you go and be natural with people. Of course, he's ready to jump in if he notices things going sour.

Which Naruro characters do you really love then? (Yes, including the precious Brow Boys)
Tumblr media
*brings out megaphone* ALLOW ME TO TELL YOU ABOUT HOW MUCH I LOVE ROCK LEE AND MAITO GAI
listen guys i fucking love them so much. Rock Lee is an actual KING he’s so sweet and kind and caring and like???????? I want to hug him. RN. He deserves it. He deserves the goddamn world and I am willing to give it to him. He’s such a cool character and I’m so mad that they forgot abt him after the Chuunin Exams. Like cmon now. Lets make Rock Lee one of the strongest ninjas out there bc we all know he is. We all know he can throw hands and legs like nobodies business. He’s an actual sweetheart and he is so cute and I love him so much. I want him (and Team Gai in general tbh) to have more screentime and develop and be able to become super strong!!!! Their characters have so much potential and they were just cast aside after the chuunin exams and it frustrates me sm. Well, at least we have Rock Lee and his Ninja Pals.
Maito Gai.... KING SR. he’s throwing hands and legs. he’s serving looks. He’s got it all. I love him. He’s actually such a caring person and he loves his students sm??? And he’s so underrated!?!?! I’m so glad he got the chance to beat Madara’s ass bc God does Gai deserve some recognition. At least Lee got some in the chuunin exams, but Gai... jesus christ. I would not hesitate to say he is the strongest ninja out there tbfh. Also his cheekbones? His buff as hell stature? Immaculate. I would like to hug him thank you. I think a lot of people just see him as comic relief which SUCKS bc he’s so much more than that.
I also want to personally beat up anyone who has insulted them bc that is the last thing they deserve and I’ll die on this goddamn hill
oh and ig Madara is pretty cool too (that war scene? DAMN. What a fucking badass. also his voice is... so nice). I also like Kakuzu! His character is rly amusing to me and also his final fight is sooo goddamn cool. Like you KNOW from the beginning that he’s hiding some major power and then he busts it out like that. I wish they would’ve given it more time to build his repertoire tho but whatever. wehhh I like so many of the nart characters its hard for me to choose only a few LMAO

it cannot wait, I'm yours.
Day 1 of @buddiefirstkissweek
Prompt:  Related to Pride
Read on AO3
Despite living there for several years, Buck had never actually attended L.A pride. He usually flew to New York City to celebrate with friends there. However, with T.K. being in Austin, they had agreed to go to each other’s Prides together. The only issue was T.K. couldn’t get off until the second day, and Buck didn’t exactly want to go alone. His first choice would have been Hen, but she got stuck working as well. He realized that he needed more friends than just his co-workers as he scrolled through his phone trying to figure out who to call. He could ask Maddie, but she would probably spend the whole time trying to find a cute guy for him to date. He loved the support, but sometimes he didn’t need to be reminded he was single when all his other friends had a significant other.
He thought about texting Michael, but they had talked last time he was over at the Grant-Nash household, and Michael was going with his new boyfriend. Buck was ecstatic that Michael finally found a boyfriend. It was about time. He deserved it. If Buck was his type, Buck for sure would have tried to date him.
Wait, Josh was single and gay. He was probably going to pride, and likely wouldn’t want to go alone either. Perfect solution. He sent a text off and got a quick response before going to get changed. Normally Buck dressed pretty conservatively, but this was the one time a year he really let himself go all out. He put on his crop top that said ‘if you play for both teams you always win.’ It was probably his favourite shirt, he loved the slogan. He basically worked out for a living, and he was glad that crop tops highlighted that. He threw on his ripped jeans that were just on the right side of too tight, and had one rip that went a little too far up his thigh. He was lacing up his pride Dr. Martens when he heard a knock on the door.
“So glad you could make it.” Buck pulled Josh into a hug. It was a bit of a surprise at first how well the two got along. They even went out on a date together before realizing they were better off friends. The teasing they would have gotten from Maddie would have been unbearable if it had actually worked out.
“I’m just happy I have someone to go with now. I brought the face paints!” Josh immediately grabbed one of Buck’s kitchen chairs and pushed him down into it. Josh was already sporting a gay flag painted under his eye, and he clearly had plans to put on on Buck as well. “I know you care about your hair, but really I think we need some glitter in it. It’s the spray kind that comes out easy I swear.”
Buck rolled his eyes but sat still while he got a bisexual pride flag painted under his right eye. “You can do the glitter, but I’m showering at your place. I’m not trying to deal with clogged pipes because of it.”
“Fair deal. We better get going, or we won’t ever be able to get an Uber downtown.”
******
L.A. Pride was somehow exactly like NYC Pride, and completely different. All the elements of pride were there. The drag queens who were performing up a storm, the baby gays who it was clear this  was their first pride, and those who had been going to prides longer than Buck had been alive. There were definitely more west coast vibes to it. Either way, Buck was thrilled to be at Pride, and happy to have a friend along with him.
The two wandered through the marketplace, stopping every now and then to buy a couple of items. The two spent a couple of minutes laughing when they found the LAFD calendar, except they were able to get any face photoshopped on all the firefighters. They got one with a photo of Chim sneezing on it for Maddie’s birthday. It was even better because it actually had Chim in it. There were some advantages to Buck not having won that year. Josh saw a lesbian couple from work, and dragged Buck over there to introduce him to them. Buck was known for both being Maddie’s younger brother, but also the firefighter whose name got mentioned more than it probably should have been. His dumbass heroics got him far more recognition than they should have been.
Buck saw a familiar face in the crowd, and they made eye contact before they turned away.  He let Josh know he was going to talk to them. He knew Josh would be safe with his friends for the moment.
“Now Athena, I know you’re not just going to ignore me like that.” Buck jokingly called out to her.
“I wish I could say I was ignoring you, but I owe Hen money unfortunately. You just had to get a boyfriend.” Athena sounded almost disappointed,
“What Josh? No we aren’t dating, we’re just here as friends. Actually, you’ve met him before I think. He works with Maddie.” Buck wasn’t offended about the fact she thought he and Josh were dating, he didn’t like the thought of the bet. “Any other important bets going on about my life?”
Athena had the decency to look a little ashamed. “Well there was a bet about whether or not you had a secret boyfriend. Hen said yes, I said no. Mainly because you would have told Maddie, who would have accidentally told Chim, who would have immediately texted Hen, who would have shown up at my house with a bottle of wine to gossip. We all know secrets don’t exist in the family.”
Buck knew she had a point. Secrets didn’t exist, and because of that betting run rampant. Hell, he had won $50 on the bet of when Micheal was going to announce his new boyfriend. “How much do you have on it, because I’m willing to lie to split the winnings. Hen deserves some payback after how often she keeps winning.” Buck was never above a small lie. He could just say they broke up in a week because it wasn’t working out.
“$200. Go collect your fake boyfriend over there and we’ll go find the 118. They’ve got a tent set up to hand out water.” Athena nodded her head towards Josh.
Buck didn’t think that they would actually be there. It wasn’t that he was ashamed of being bi, but he had never officially come out to the 118. Hen knew because they ran into each other at a gay bar, and Athena knew because she got called to pick them up when they were too drunk to drive. “Alright yeah, I can drop all my stuff off there too. They’re all going to be too scared to look through the bags.” Even though there was nothing bad in them, the fire fam was going to assume there was.
Buck walked back to Josh and explained what was going on. Buck owed Josh an expensive bottle of wine for it, but he was totally down to mess with the 118. The wine was to placate him from any of the text Maddie would send him after Chim texted her. On the way over they all chatted. Buck agreed to bring May with him on the second day. Athena wanted her to go with someone who was more responsible, but also not afraid to throw a punch. May was like a little sister to him, and Buck was fully ready to square up for her.  Plus, T.K. and his new boyfriend would defend her too. Actually, based on what he had heard about Carlos, he would get along with Athena. Buck made a note to introduce the two. As they got closer to the tent, Buck put his arm around Josh’s waist. With Buck being such a tactile guy, it wasn’t the first time he had held Josh like this. He allowed himself to be more touchy feely with Josh because he knew the other was okay with it.
“Hey guys, this is Josh. He’s an operator with Maddie. I’m sure you’ve heard his lovely voice on the phone a few times.” Buck spoke to the 118 with a grin on his face. He could feel the fact that all eyes were on him. Hen scowled at him and then Athena. She pulled out her wallet to pay up.
Buck leaned down to talk to Josh, and softened his voice to talk. “Why don’t you go talk to Chim about Maddie’s surprise stories. I’ll deal with all the questions.” There was zero reason for him to do that, other than to sell the idea. Buck had big plans for that $100.
Josh walked over to Chim, and pulled him aside as the rest of the 118 descended on Buck.
“Listen Buck, not that I’m not proud of you for this, but you really had to wear your best outfit the day I’m not with you?” There was no actual malice behind Hen’s voice. She had made teasing Buck into an art form.
“Hen this is a go big or go home event, and I certainly wasn’t going to go home.” Buck gave her one of his patented golden retriever smiles, before he pulled a small enamel lesbian flag pin out of his  pocket and held it out to her. “I got you a present to make it up to you at least. Figured you could wear it while you work to show support.”
Hen took the pin, seeming to accept the apology gift. She walked over to Athena, the two already starting to gossip.
Bobby cleared his throat. “So Buck, you know you could have told us before. We would have supported you.” He was clearly into his dad mode, trying to approach the situation delicately.
“I mean you never came out as straight to the station. I’ve told you about people I’ve gone on dates with. If you assumed Jordan, Addison, and Kennedy were girls, that's on you.” Buck viewed Bobby as a father, but sometimes he was very much a straight cis man. They were working on changing his set views. But he supported them all and that was what mattered the most to them.
“Buck, can we talk, over there. It cannot wait.” Eddie’s voice was tense, and Buck didn’t like how it had sounded. Buck nodded and followed him, not trusting any words that would come out of his mouth. Buck was fine with Hen, he figured he would be fine with Buck being bisexual. There was a chance Eddie was one of those people who just thought bisexuals were just greedy and needed to make their mind up. He hadn’t been prepared to lose Eddie as a friend, not over something like this. Having Chim and Bobby know made him feel like a weight was lifted off his chest, but Eddie’s reaction made it all come crashing back down. The two walked behind the ambulance, where they were out of view from the public. There was just a couple of photographers hanging out in their event tent.
“You’re not actually dating Josh, are you?” Eddie crossed his arms, taking a defensive stance.
“Why does it matter to you? If you can’t accept me having a boyfriend then we are going to have bigger problems than who I’m dating.”
“You told me you were single at movie night last week.” Eddie sounded exasperated, and Buck was really confused as to why.
“Fine, Josh and I aren’t dating, but we tried at one point. We’re better friends, but that doesn’t mean I’m not still bi. I’ve dated plenty of guys since we’ve been friends, it just hasn’t worked out.” They were friends, Buck was going to be honest with Eddie. Well, mostly honest. If Eddie asked if Buck had a crush on him, Buck was going to deny it. He didn’t think Eddie would be the kind of straight guy who would get all weird about Buck’s crush, but then again he didn’t think Eddie was biphobic either.
“Good, because I can’t see you with a boyfriend...” Eddie seemed to have calmed down, and a realization had swept over him. His face looked a lot softer, it was a look Buck had seen many times but was never really sure what it meant. Buck anger was going in the opposite direction. He took a step back.
Buck didn’t bother to let Eddie finish before he cut him off. “Listen, if you’ve got such a problem with me dating another guy, then you should transfer stations. I’m not going to hide a part of me because it’s not something you like.” His words were harsh, but he kept his voice down. He didn’t want any yelling to attract the others. Buck started to walk away when he felt Eddie grab his wrist and pull him back so they were face to face.
“Evan, You didn’t let me finish. I can’t see you with a boyfriend that isn’t me. If I had known you liked guys, I would have done this sooner.” Buck was shocked by the statement, but even more shocked by what came next.
Eddie leaned up and kissed Buck.
Buck did not in a million years see Eddie returning his feelings. Buck felt Eddie start to pull back, and he knew the older man was overthinking things the same way he was. Buck brought his hands up to cup Eddie’s cheeks, and pulled him back in. He could overthink this later, for now he was going to enjoy kissing Eddie. Finally it didn’t have to be something of his dreams anymore. He felt Eddie’s hands come to rest on his waist. Buck had every intention of deepening the kiss, but when he moved to get closer, he managed to slip. Thankfully, Eddie managed to catch him before he completely fell on his back.
They had been pulled apart by the fall, but they rested their foreheads together.
“We should talk about this…” Buck started to say.
“We’ll have plenty of time to talk later, I got months of kissing to make up for.” Eddie leaned down, kissing Buck with far more passion this time. He wasn’t worried about being rejected.
Eventually Buck fully got back up to his feet, but not before a photographer had snapped a photo of the two.
******
Buck promised to drop Eddie off at the station the next morning, so he wouldn’t have to ensure the teasing alone. They didn’t have to walk far into the station before the teasing started.
Hanging from the balcony was a blown up photo of the two of them kissing. Buck had seen the photo posted all over last night. Out of context, it looked like Eddie had dipped Buck, not that Buck had just been clumsy first. He knew there were comparisons to the soldier celebrating V-J day, and the navy soldier getting his homecoming kiss. The photo was heralded as one of the defining photos of pride that year. Would Buck have liked their first kiss to be a little more private, sure, but it wouldn’t have been true to the way his life had gone so far. The teasing would be worth it, especially since he got Eddie out of the deal.
“They’re all just jealous Eds, just remember. I’m yours.”

Kakairu for no.28 ♡
28. They ask you them to pretend to be their date at a bar to prevent an ex from talking to them.Kakashi sat alone at the counter of the bar, waiting for Tenzo to show up. His friend wasn’t late, per se, but Kakashi didn’t often show up early or on time for stuff. So as afar as he was concerned, Tenzo was late.
But that was okay, Kakashi could get a headstart on unwinding, even if the first drink sucked. His mask was left to bunch around his neck as he nursed a drink called Thunder Struck (a weird concoction from Lightning Country) that was promised to be electrifying.
Spoilers: it wasn’t.
Kakashi would much rather try and electrocute himself with a Raikiri (it wouldn’t work anyway).
The Rusty Shuriken was in full form tonight, but given that it was 7:00 PM on a Friday, that wasn’t too surprising. It was loud—people were talking loudly almost yelling, laughing, someone was even bawling—and the volume on the music was turned up; the bass rumbled through the establishment. If he didn’t walk out of here at ass o’ clock in the morning with a pounding headache to complement his drunkness he’ll be extremely surprised.
Kakashi knocked back the rest of his drink and signaled for the bartender. This time he got sake.
He was on his fourth saucer of booze when someone dropped into a barstool a few places down. There was brief recognition—they were chuunin, there was only one jounin he knew that wore their hair up like that, and Shikaku didn’t come to this bar. Kakashi also might have done a mission with him, he was the former teacher of Kakashi’s genin team if he remembered right. The alcohol was doing its job, so everything was getting a little fuzzy and he wasn’t too sure about the details, but their name started with an ‘I’, or maybe and ‘U’.
As he started on his second flask of sake, the noise and people didn’t bother him too much. And Tenzo still wasn’t here.
Kakashi debated on tracking down his kohai, but that would mean giving up his seat. The bar was really starting to fill up now, and he was quite content where he was.
Or so he thought.
As he filled up his saucer again, he spotted Genma pushing his way through a few groups of boisterous drunks trying to get to the counter. For a split second, they made eye contact. Kakashi knew better too, the man had a sixth sense about people staring that outclassed Kakashi’s.
To make matters worse, Genma was his ex.
Genma wasn’t a bad guy, Kakashi had enjoyed his time with the on-again, off-again relationship they had shared, he just grew tired of it after a while. He certainly didn’t want to fall back into it either.
Quickly Kakashi looked about, hoping to find Asuma or Gai. Where the fuck was Tenzo? Then he spotted the chuunin he had vaguely recognized earlier.
“I’m gonna go find Izumo, see ya later Iruka!”
Iruka’s friend stood up and clapped Iruka on the shoulder before disappearing into the swarm of drunken shinobi.
Oh, Iruka. That was it. It was definitely the former chuunin-sensei for his genin team.
Well, it’s better than nothing, Kakashi thought to himself as he spared another glance in Genma’s direction. He was closing in now.
Kakashi quickly abandoned his mostly empty sake flask and hauled himself up, b-lining to the now empty barstool at Iruka’s left. He dropped himself into it and leaned into Iruka.
“Help me out and I’ll buy you as many drinks as you want,” Kakashi murmured into Iruka’s ear as he wrapped his arm around the chuunin’s waist.
Iruka stiffened and glanced at Kakashi, then looked just beyond the counter and relaxed.
“Problems?” Iruka asked, flagging the bartender for another round.
“You could say that.”
“Hey, Hatake! On a date?” Genma greeted him and draped an arm across Kakashi’s shoulders. The man really had no idea what personal space was. “And with Iruka. Who’d’ve thought.”
“And what’s that supposed to mean,” Iruka bit out, leveling Genma with a venomous look. It’d probably curdle milk.
Kakashi’s lips twitched and threatened to break out into a grin.
Genma released Kakashi and raised his hands up placatingly, “Don’t get mad. I just meant that it’s been a while since I’ve seen you with anyone. Not since Mizuki.”
Oof, Genma was really putting his foot in it. Kakashi unconsciously pulled Iruka a little closer, in an attempt to comfort the man. Kakashi didn’t miss how the chuunin tensed up at the mention of the Mizuki.
Genma withered under Iruka’s fiery glare. “Fuck—I mean it’s good to see you with Kakashi. He’s a good guy, and you deserve nice things Iruka.”
Iruka still looked pissed, but he turned back to the new drink the bartender left while Genma was making a fool out of himself.
“If that’s all, I’d really like to get back to my date. If you don’t mind.” Kakashi said, looking pointedly at Genma.
“Oh, yeah, sure! I don’t mind at all.”
Kakashi took great delight in watching his ex scramble away, clearly forgetting why he was going to the counter in the first place. Kakashi definitely smiled then.
“I apologize for that,” Kakashi said, releasing Iruka and taking a quick sip from his own drink. “And I appreciate the help.”
Iruka leaned away from Kakashi and rested his arms on the counter. “Glad I could be of service. And I finally got a chance to see beneath your mask. I’ve always wondered.”
“I don’t come here often, and I’m not going to drink alcohol through my mask,” Kakashi huffed a laugh, “So what’s the verdict? Am I too ugly?” he teased.
“Try drop-dead gorgeous,” Iruka smirked.
Kakashi was surprised by how easy it was to talk to Iruka. The banter was rather fun.
“You’re pretty hot yourself,” Kakashi remarked.
Iruka, not expecting his reply, blushed. Maybe it was the alcohol doing funny things to him, but he could have sworn Iruka shivered.
And then Iruka seemed to lose himself in his thoughts.
After a minute of what Kakashi assumed was a heated internal debate, whatever it was Iruka was thinking about, he seemed to have made a decision about it if the determined expression on his face was anything to go by.
Iruka shifted in his chair to face Kakashi. “You can buy me drinks later, how about we get out of here instead?” he said, nodded in the direction of the exit.
“Maa, Sensei, it’s our first date and already you want to take me home?” Kakashi quipped.
“I wouldn’t classify this as a date, but we could discuss the potential of future dates back at my place. Or yours.”
“Well, when you put it like that, how can I possibly refuse?”
Kakashi stood up, and when Iruka followed suit, he settled his hands on Iruka’s hips, bringing Iruka close—close enough to kiss—as he built up chakra for a two-person shunshin.
“Friends don’t let friends drink and jutsu,” Iruka murmured against Kakashi’s lips.
“Don’t worry, Sensei, I’ve gotten really good at it.”
Any further thoughts about where the fuck Tenzo was were dropped as Kakashi formed the tiger seal and shunshinned them away.Send me a prompt!

Finished writing my January playlist up a couple weeks ago and forgot to post it. Sometimes things are like that I suppose. A pretty good mix of all the songs I was very into two months ago.
Terrapin Station (Suite) - Grizzly Bear & The National: It's shocking to think that a 5 hour long Grateful Dead tribute album changed my life but it really did. It's so good all the way through which is a feat in itself and it's a great introduction to every side of a band that can sometimes feel culturally overwhelming to try to get into. This song is a highlight, veering over every kind of territory for 16 minutes but always maintaining the sort of precision of purpose I associate with Grizzly Bear.
New Year - Beach House: January baby! I've got tickets to see Beach House later this month and I'm excited because they really surprised me as an incredible live band last time I saw them, building their songs with a lot more dynamism than the sort of drum machine play alongs their albums are (which I love!!).
BAGDAD - Cap.7: Liturgia - Rosalia: I'm still working my way into fully appreciating how good this Rosalia album is. The Justin Timberlake melody is so beautifully repurposed and I absolutely love the church choir behind the 'junta las palmas y las separa' part. It's just a heartbreaking and beautiful song even if I did have to google translate it.
Signs Of Life - Arcade Fire: I've been thinking a bit about Everything Now and how it was received and weirdly it seems to have a lot of parallels with the Achtung Baby/Zooropa/Pop era of U2, 20 years before it. Well established megastar bands who turned from their extremely heartfelt authentic origins and explored the world of pop and commercialism with varying critical success. Everything Now doesn't feel old fashioned but it's kind of weird they're playing with a lot of the same ideas U2 were in their Pop-Mart era so long ago. Anyway this is one of their best songs ever I think. The disco instrumentation versus the paranoid lyrics is just great, the backing vocals especially.
Discotheque - U2: The vocals in this song are so interesting. There are at times upwards of three Bonos harmonising with each other. It creates an unsettling image of a world overrun with Bonos. I do however love the extremely strangled guitar sound in the breakdown. I sort of wish this song were longer, long as it is, because it really starts to build into something serious by the end but then it just fades out disappointingly.
Violent Shiver - Benjamin Booker: I love Benjamin Booker but he needs to take a lesson from this song and do some hot licks again. He doesn't do hot licks like this in barely any other songs! Benjamin Booker sounds like he's from an alternate timeline where rock n roll stayed black and this is where it's at now.
Dawn Of The Dead - Does It Offend You, Yeah?: Can you imagine naming your band 'Does It Offend You, Yeah?' in 2019? What a time to be alive 2008 was. I absolutely love the steel drums in the prechorus and the bass and 'ooh ah' in the chorus. The production is just so chunky throughout. This whole song is thick.
Golden Skans - Klaxons: Anyway speaking of the heady days of English 'new rave' Golden Skans is a masterpiece. It's also masterfully compact, it's over in 2 and a half minutes. Amazing.
Go Bang - Pnau: I really applaud Pnau for having the audacity to release Chameleon and Go Bang on the same album right after each other when they're essentially the same song. Close enough to be the same song but different enough that you're still completely hyped when either of them come on.
Say You See Why So - Eleventh He Reaches London: I found this extremely serious Perth screamo band a little while ago they're so good i'm surprised I'd never heard of them before. I love the style of just endless new sections on new sections with barely any repetition, it makes you feel crazy which is perfect for this music.
Why Write A Letter That You'll Never Send - The Drones: I don't really know what to say about this song other than imagine literally getting this email verbatim lol.
Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me - U2: Fully fucked up that one of the best U2 songs only got released on the Batman Forever soundtrack.
Dead Of Night - Orville Peck: I'm so glad Lana Del Rey has been around long enough now that she's inspired a second wave. I absolutely love the whole concept Orville Peck has going, masked gay cowboy is a criminally underexplored genre.
Trip The Mains - Methyl Ethyl: I can't believe Methyl Ethyl are onto their third album already. I love how dancey this is compared to their other stuff, and his voice is still completely blowing my mind.
Strange Days (1999) - Health: I've had the cover for this single as my lock screen for two months now. It's simply very good and such a direct distillation of Health's essence. They've simplified and moved closer to pop ideas on this album and I'm all for it, they sound like Purity Ring if Purity Ring exploded occasionally which sounds very good to me.
Milk Crisis - The Go! Team: I'm racist because I thought for a long time that this song was gibberish but it turns out it's actually just in Japanese.
Cream On Chrome - Ratatat: It's fucking sick that Ratatat have been able to not only survive but thrive for so long making music that sounds like the loading screen of a Dreamcast racing game.
Will The Circle Be Unbroken - The Staple Singers: This is maybe my favourite example of 60s stereo recordings making completely bizarre decisions. The drums and bass in this are panned extremely far left and the guitar far right, which has the nice effect of letting you take out your left headphone and listen to a very beautiful stripped back guitar and vocals only version.
Angel From Montgomery - John Prine: I'm seeing John Prine next week and I'm very excited. He's approximately one million years old and seems to only now be getting the recognition he's deserved for decades.
(My Friends Are Gonna Be) Strangers - Merle Haggard: It's interesting thinking about the parts of American culture that don't really get exported to Australia. We got Johnny Cash and Hank Williams to a lesser extent but I hadn't really heard of Merle Haggard before this year which seems insane now that I've realised just how massive he was.
Debbie - Architecture In Helsinki: I have so much love for this vocal performance. Sitting in a weird half falsetto out of breath and just shrieking your way through it, mwah mwah I'm doing a chef's kiss right now.
Yandere - Yamantaka / / Sonic Titan: It's reassuring that the enthusiastic art nerd mindset of bands like The Red Paintings and The Sound Of Animals Fighting will never truly die. There should be more bands where they all have costumes and multi-movement songs songs telling an inscrutable story and a guy in the band whose whole job is just doing the lights.
Sweetness And Light (For Life Remix) - Itch-E & Scratch-E: My lifelong grudge against Paul Mac for enabling The Dissociatives and various other crimes will always be slightly tempered by how much this one song bangs.
Ontheway! - Earl Sweatshirt: I am such a big fan of this album. All the way through it feels like laying on the floor feels and it's addictive because of it. Every time I listen to it I just want to start it over again and lay the fuck down.
Mistake - Middle Kids: This song made me feel like a record producer in a movie or something when I first heard it because I got about one bar into the chorus and was absolutely smitten. It's just incredible.
Pressure To Party - Julia Jacklin: "I know where you live, I used to live there too" is maybe one of the best ever breakup album lines I've ever heard.
Our Shadows - Deantoni Parks: Deantoni Parks has a huge brain. The thing he does, where he sort of plays live mpc as part of a drumkit could be extremely naff and I'm sure there's a million guys on youtube doing it and making bad music, but he ain't one of them.. His take on it is so completely alien that the human element serves to bring it back to earth, all the disconnect that you would get from someone making a song like this on a laptop is metered out by a physical human body feeling every sound out personally and it's amazing.
Head To Toe In Morocco Leather - Muslimgauze: What's the word for being a weaboo except about the middle east and getting totally radicalised about it but never leaving England? Anyway Muslimgauze rocks and every six months or so I reread his wiki article and listen to his music exclusively for a couple of days before whatever that feeling is wears off again. I have a lot of respect for him but also suspect he may have just been a nut, which I respect as well.
In The Nervous Light Of Sunday - Circle Takes The Square: Very excited that Circle Takes The Square is on spotify now!!!
I'm In It - Kanye West: I heard that when they were recording this there was steam coming out of the horny meter that they have in the studio and then the glass broke on the horny meter and the needle started spinning around and around because the horny levels were so high.
Do Me A Favour - Arctic Monkeys: Alex Turner has two songwriting modes: incredibly tangible story songs and songs where he's just playing word association rhyming games and the craziest thing is both types are good. This is absolutely one of his best of the first kind I think.

a few thoughts from last night’s tgp spoilers under the cut
okay so i am so glad that the judge went down to earth and got a feel for how hard it is to be a human and how right michael and the rest of team cockroach are. i also think that it seems totally IC. the judge wants to do the right thing, and after actually considering the idea she realizes. oh shit. i was so so so wrong. i also appreciated that she was like? apparently i am Black and people do not like Black ladies down there? at all? and the joke about chick-fil-a being this delicious sandwich that you eat but if you eat it means you hate gay people.
i also so appreciate that it was JASON that got her to do it in the first place. jason is the most emotionally intuitive person on the cast and he deserves recognition for that.
i also think that the concept of recreating the experiment is a fantastic one, am excited to meet the rest of the new cast (sure hope that one pasty white man is the only white.) then i am really excited to see the main cast in a supporting role, watching over these newbs, and michael’s creeping fears that they won’t win and then shaun will use that double that he made of him to torture his beloved humans. and that if it comes to that, then there’s nothing that michael can do about it or to make it better.
that’s the sort of sadistic thing that i’ve been thinking about for a year at least and i’m so excited that it’s going to be a plot point in the show. they always seem to find interesting new directions to take it and raise the stakes.

Country Strong
How Eric Bittle Changed the Face of Country
Tumblr media
Part of the Blue-Eyed Jack ‘Verse
(TW: brief mentions of suicide and homelessness, major homophobia, past death threats, vague mentions of threatened terrorism/mass shooting)
The players hustled across the ice in a blur of yellow and blue. The coaches stood to the side, shouting instructions. The air in the arena was frigid and electric with the energy of these men.
This was the last place I ever expected to interview a country singer.
“Thank you for meeting me here,” Eric Bittle said as I approach, hugging me like we were lifelong friends. “Me and Jack are about to go on our own roadies and won't see each other for a couple of weeks. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to watch his practice. Lord knows when I'll really get to watch him play again.”
The Jack he's referring to is Jack Zimmermann, the third out player in the NHL and Bittle’s boyfriend of two years.
Surprisingly, Bittle was tight-lipped when it came to his most talked-about romance. “It's nothing personal,” he said with a wry grin. “But we get so little privacy in our lines of work, I need a little bit of our relationship to be just between us. I hope you can understand that.”
I could, and so I asked about his band instead, and the recent loss of guitarist Justin Oluransi.
“Oh, I cried for days when he said he wanted to leave,” Bittle told me with a laugh. “Ransom -- that's what me and the boys call him -- Ransom’s my best friend in the whole world. Of course I was terribly sad that we wouldn't be on the same team anymore. But he's also the most talented performer I've ever known, and I am so, so happy to see him finally get the recognition he deserves. And who knows?” Bittle added with a wink. “Maybe we’ll go on tour together again soon.”
If that was a hint about Bitty & the Biscuits’ upcoming “secret project,” Bittle certainly wouldn't elaborate, no matter how much I wheedled and wormed. Eventually, the topic drifted to his rough beginnings, and an important reunion he had just this past summer.
“Everyone and their mother knows I ran away from home at 18,” Bittle said dismissively. “Wound up in Nashville waiting tables and playing in these dirty little dives. It was like a Cinderella story, getting found by my agent and having my demo picked up by a real label. I haven't been a God-fearing man in a long time, but it certainly made me feel like I had a guardian angel watching out for me.”
Bittle’s story is well-known in the country music world: fearing the worst if he came out to his friends and family in his small hometown, Bittle left home with his life savings stuffed in a sock and a second-hand guitar on his back, somehow making it all the way from Madison, Georgia to Nashville without his family knowing where he'd gone. It would be several years before they'd even learn he was alive.
“I regret it now,” Bittle said. Up until now he'd been all smiles and laughter, but he grew sober as conversation turned to his parents. “They thought I'd killed myself or starved to death or became homeless, with how vague my goodbye note had been. I never called, never wrote. Mama found me on Spotify.” He laughed at this, but it was bitter. “She was listening to one of those ‘Up and Coming’ playlists and recognized my voice. That was a year after I'd left home. She tried to get in touch then, but...well, I'd been right about my family’s reaction to me being gay, and she was real hurt that I'd just up and left. But we've been writing letters -- so old fashioned, I know -- and this past July she came to one of my shows and we got dinner and talked all night long. We’ve got a lot to get past, but she's my mama. I love her more than anything.”
That heart-warming reunion came only a month before the infamous death threats Bittle received that shook the industry to its core. The incident, still hotly talked about online and in music circles, has been compared to the death threats received by Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines in 2003 after criticizing then-President George W. Bush.
“Getting those death threats was honestly a relief,” Bittle said. “My entire career, being gay in country, I was just waiting for something like that to happen. Not that it wasn't terrifying,” he added, throwing a hand over his heart. “But it was something I knew I'd have to face. These two men -- both behind bars now, thank goodness -- were threatening to show up at my show in Oklahoma with guns if I didn’t stop ‘promoting perversion.’ Sitting backstage, warming up with my boys, that was the most scared I've ever been in my life. But then, when I walked out on that stage, seeing all those young people out there waving rainbow flags and singing along to my songs...that was the best performance I've ever given.” Bittle laughed, bumping my arm with his elbow. “It was like that calm feeling you get when you free fall on a roller coaster. I knew that if those men got past security, I could die any second and I wanted to go out singing my heart out.”
Luckily for Bittle and everyone in the venue that evening, the two would-be gunmen did not follow through on their threat, and were arrested a few months later on unrelated charges. “Good riddance,” Bittle said cheerfully, smile wide and bright again. “Folks with that kind of ugly hate in their hearts get what’s coming to them, in the end. I’m just glad no one got hurt in the process.”
Before I left Bittle to watch his boyfriend’s team scrimmage, I had to ask one last question: what would you say to your younger self?
“You'll be okay,” Bittle said. “It'll be hard. People will be cruel. But they'll also be kind. You'll find family in your band. You'll fall in love with a great guy. You'll do what you love and love what you do and be a role model for people out there who are scared and lonely. Oh, and write your poor mother,” he added with a wink. “She’ll be your number one fan, in the end. You come out on top, kid.”

Riverdale Recap. Episode 7: ‘In A Lonely Place’
Tumblr media
Yay. Finally, some of my prayers were answered: MORE RIVERDALE and MORE JUGHEAD.
First off a massive congratulations to the cast and crew of Riverdale for being picked up for Season 2 already!! I’m sure I am not alone in the excitement at the prospect of more of the gang! Super well deserved!
Episode 7 starts with that super cool opening sequence where our Core 4 are dressed up in traditional ‘Archie Comics’ looks. *J’adore* this was perfectly done and super well executed.
The sequence is a dream by Juggie and it seems he is struggling a bit with his feelings for Betty VS his friendship with Archie as in the dream Archie says ‘Why did you stab me in the back?’ ... which, I only assume, is in relation to his new found feelings for Betty, whom he knows has had a long time ‘relationship’ with Archie. Although, personally, I don’t think Juggie should be feeling any sort of guilt, if Betty is the reason anyway, because well Archie pretty much told her that he doesn’t care for her in that way, and seems to be more than happily moving on with Valerie.
It gets a tad heartbreaking here as we discover that Juggie has been crashing at Riverdale High. Archie discovers Juggie’s secret in the locker room one morning, and I love the little bromance moment this leads to.
Tumblr media
I love this Juggie and Archie friendship, and also love how our darling Archie IMMEDIATELY tries to help Juggie out and ask his dad to help them out by giving FP (Jug’s dad, Skeet) his job back.
Juggie begs Archie to please not tell anyone about his current living conditions and problems, especially Betty. Archie’s all like ‘Betty won’t care, If anyone will be a snob about it it’s gonna be Veronica’. But then a little subtle Bughead moment alerts the gang to the fledgling romance,
Tumblr media
I think this is like super cute, and really shows Juggie’s supportiveness of Betty as she’s telling the gang about Polly’s escape from the looney house and being missing.
Polly’s escape is another massive theme of this episode as everyone begins looking for her. It turns into a little ‘Coopers VS Blossoms’ thing as they all try to find Polly for different reasons, the Blossoms are convinced Polly is the one who torched the car, and thus trying to cover her tracks about killing Jason. Mama and Papa Cooper are trying to get Polly back under their control, and Betty just wants her sister and her little niece/nephew to be safe at home.
Tumblr media
I love the badass slow-mo as Cheryl and the Blossoms walk, leading their search party through the forest. I also keep for getting to mention this but I’d like to take this time to give some recognition to the wardrobe team(s) of Riverdale. Honestly, each character in the show has such a unique and definitive style... I love it. They’re all so perfect right down to jewellery and shoes (i.e. Archie and his jeans, cardigans and converses. Betty with her vintage tops, Veronica with her more formal style and super cute short skirts, Juggie with this gangster sort of street style).
I love this little conversation during the search party where V tells Kev her plans to get even with her mom as she now has a ‘get out of jail free card’ because her mom took the one thing she’d always told her no one could take - her name.
In NEW YORK, Ronnie would always rebel with some online shopping and go on a bender hitting some clubs with three people
1) Her ‘fave celebrity gal pal’ - role assigned to Josie. CHECK 2) Her ‘best gay’ - naturally, Kev. CHECK 3) and some ‘dimwitted, disposable arm candy’ - calling Reggie Mantle. CHECK
I love this club scene where they’re all super cool and grooving on the floor. Girls (and Guys) got moooves!!
Tumblr media
Of course things don’t end (all too) smoothly, when Ronnie’s card is declined as it was reported ‘Stolen’ - and Ronnie knows this is the work of Hermoine. Well Played, Hermoine, Well Played. ( I also love that Josie pulls out the ‘my mom, the mayor’ card here.) Veronica agrees to stop her troublesome behaviour provided Hemoine comes clean to her father, because Ronnie doesn’t want him to think that she betrayed him. Which I guess, is totally understandable.
Speaking of family issues we have some insight into what happened to Juggie’s family. Skeet lost his job by getting involved in some dodgy stuff, ending up in jail and this lead to Fred edging him out of the business.  It seems however that the two are ready to bury the hatchet as Skeet goes back to work for Fred. Hermoine is not happy about this, but Skeet begs her to stay quiet, he says that Hiram settled up, and they’re even. He also says that ‘If you don’t step on a ‘serpent’ they have no reason to bite you.’.... and the four boys hang out in the diner after FP’s first shift back .
Tumblr media
I found this father/son bonding session super touching, and eye-opening for Archie too as he realised the tension caused here. Things are looking heartbreakingly sad for Juggie as it turns out Skeet is struggling with a drinking problem. (This really breaks my heart, Alcoholism is such a terrible disease, which affects so many today, and I’ve been personally affected by losing family members to this horrible, horrible addiction) ‘but I will stop’ ‘i’ll turn myself around’ ‘you can all come back home’ ‘i’ll get my self better’ ‘i just need time’ .... i’d bet my bottom dollar this has all been heard before.
Sheriff Keller and Principal Weatherbee also come across the new murder wall that Betty and Jug have been building at the school, and Jug is called into the station for questioning.
Right through out the questioning (Apparently Juggie was being bullied by the football team, and also in elementary school he accidentally started a fire while playing with matches he burned down the school - so they are thinking he burned the car down, but Betty knows he was with her). Juggie’s dad is nowhere to be found. Cue broken hearts. He eventually turns up, but only after Fred has already come to the rescue.  Fred creates a “fake” alibi to say that Jughead was working for him on the week of 11 July so he couldn’t have killed Jason. (We later see him faking the time card). So much respect for Papa Andrews right here! He’s just awesome, and I love how he is willing to do this to protect Juggie. Juggie also goes to live with the Andrews until things can get worked out with Skeet.
In the meantime, Betty finds Polly who tells her that Hal and Alice want her to put the baby up for adoption, but Polly wants to keep it. Cheryl also confronts Betty saying that they’re now on the same side, and Polly carrying Jason’s baby means she is a part of their family too. The girls approach the Blossoms who agree to give Polly everything she’ll need to care for the baby including financial and emotional support, but a few questions that Penelope asks Cheryl in private expose their true intentions, however Cheryl is genuinely concerned about ‘Jayjay’s’ baby and so warns Polly to get out and not to trust her parents who ‘want Polly out of the picture’. (Side note _ I am glad Cheryl is back from her boarding school in Europe haha ... don’t know what happened to that, but I love watching her in the show, she’s extremely entertaining.)
Then the show once again has a really weird, and oh so intriguing ending... the final scene cuts to FP getting trashed in his apartment, and then as he walks past it, the camera zooms to where there are jackets hanging in his closet and lo and behold hanging in Skeet’s wardorbe is Jason’s football jacket (his name embroidered on it) ... the same one that was in the car, which Betty and Juggie found. So what does this all mean? Did Skeet (or the Serpents) burn down the car after retrieving the drugs which were also found there? Were the drugs and the serpents somehow also involved in Jason’s death?? Curiouser and curiouser.
And now I have to wait 3 week for another episode :( not cool, Riverdale. Not cool.
All I can say is that I hope things turn around for Juggie. I hope hope hope with all my heart that Betty doesn’t break his because he truly deserves some one as special and caring as she is, but I hope she isn’t just using him for the support and then realises that it’s not true love. I mean, of course, I do think that one day it will be Betty and Archie (they are endgame afterall) but I’d like this Betty and Juggie thing to last a while. They’re so good together, and I love Lili and Cole’s chemistry. I also hope that Skeet is able to clean up his act.
