I had a Taylor Swift realisation today.
I’ve been struggling with being tough as a woman. How to be firm, how to say no, yet be polite, professional and progress. I feel like everything in media tells you to get ahead as a women you should shrink yourself. Get your head down, be sweet, smile whilst undercover rise up… but slowly. Don’t be threatening.
It’s not working for me. I’ve been trying it. Trying to be that way makes you feel bad for being ambitious. It makes you feel guilty for taking pride in your work. Selfish for wanting to take up space.
All of this has been on my mind. Then I watched Taylor Swift’s behind the scenes of All Too Well. I am a swiftie, no fan accounts, but I know every song and every single bit of lore (I have educated my boyfriend on her too).
In the video, it shows Taylor directing (not for the first time, she’s directed other music videos too). She’s professional, she says what she wants, she doesn’t shy away from taking up space and she motivates everyone on the set. It made me happy that she didn’t “stick to her lane” she’s multitalented, she’s ambitious. Doing what she loves and is curious about makes her, her.
Why do I squash myself? Ever? Why am I scared to take up space? If others don’t want me to take up space there, then I do not want to be there. Letting go of things that are not meant for me have only brought me better and better things.
Making myself small, or lowering my ambitions to make someone else comfortable, for them, that comforts them for maybe an hour, a few weeks, several months. Doing that to myself impacts me for a lifetime. It’s saying that making those people feel powerful is more important than letting my potential grow.
WWTSD? What would Taylor Swift do? Not that.
This doesn’t mean blowing shit up, it doesn’t mean not being apt, but it does mean sticking up for myself. It means not being under anyone’s shadow and it means forging my own path.

Hey, so I got a Library card today and it was so quick (5 minutes) and easy (and free) and now I can borrow books, movies, even video games and instruments from my Public Library for free.
My library card even looks awesome! I even got to pick the design from a bunch of awesome designs. I'd show a pitcure, but the town/city I live in is way to much info for the internet. I'm sure your local library has tons of options as well.
Now that I got a card, I'm taking out a french book to help me switch in to french mode for my University classes while I'm on the bus.
You should get a library card too! It gets you access to a ton of free stuff and supports a great public institution!

unsung benefit i think a lot of ppl are sleeping on with using the public library is that i think its a great replacement for the dopamine hit some ppl get from online shopping. it kind of fills that niche of reserving something that you then get to anticipate the arrival of and enjoy when it arrives, but without like, the waste and the money.

Library Snap Shot Day
April 1st is both Library Snap Shot Day, and Edible Book Day. A day for both fun and awareness when it comes to celebrating literature, and public access to it. Library Snap Shot Day being a day to bring awareness to what life could and would be like without access to library services. Some may say that libraries no longer have any purpose or use in society with the rise of the internet and its…

This is yet another post telling you to get a library card.
I just found out that my library links to a free streaming service called "kanopy" and you get a free account by signing up with your library card which is also free.
It's limited to 10 movies per account per month but like...i don't even watch 10 movies in a month anyways.
They're not as fancy as Netflix or whatever but it's free and not shitty low quality everything.
Lots of documentaries and education but also the nicolas cage five nights at freddys knockoff movie is there.

btw if you borrow dvds or cds from library you can rip them onto your own blanks or onto your hard drive or whatever. librarians don’t care and they won’t know if you do it or not

"Birds do not often sing in Semptember, but one sand sweetly from some hidden bough while Gilbert and Anne repeated their deathless vows. Anne heard it and thrilled to it; Gilbert heard it, and wondered only that all the birds in the world had not burst into jubilant song..."

I see a lot of people online talking about how scary modding a 3DS is, but the techniques have only gotten easier and easier as time has gone on. My first time modding a 3DS took me 6 hours, (though to be fair I was multitasking) but my most recent job took me 20~ minutes give or take. The last four years of the modding scene is now leaps and bounds ahead of what the old techniques used to be! On top of that, it's impossible to brick your 3DS as long as you follow the guide. (Even if you aren't very tech literate, they use pretty simple wording which makes it easy to google. When I first started, I hadn't heard of the "root" of an SD card before, and I googled it ^-^)
Also, no online functionality means you won't get banned lol. So, there was never a better time I guess. I understand the fear of losing your save data, or possibly doing damage to an object you care a lot about, but modding your 3DS is actually the best way to be able to protect that data. Once you mod your 3DS, you can copy that data onto your computer, so that if the hardware was to ever fail, your pokemon would be safe!

so LOL my new job completely fucked me over and scammed me by telling me i'd work 20 hours a week immediately, then saying they won't have proper availability for a few more weeks, now saying they can barely give me hours at all, IF ANY, for the foreseeable future.
well my life goes on and continues to include expenses even as i try to apply for new jobs
in the meantime well my poetry books are still for sale!
you can get them for as little as 1 dollar or customize the amount to anything! PLEASE THEYRE NOT BAD- (INSERT REVIEWS HERE) the site is perfectly safe to buy from and v easy!
