ok i want to talk about the ruby that david gave genya (and that genya wears around her neck now im actually crying) and the implications.

ancient indian mythology stated that wearing a ruby, particularly on the side of your heart, allows you to live a peaceful life. ancient warriors in burma and china would wear rubies on their armor for protection.

peace and protection. and with it factors in the obvious- rubies are so rare and valuable, and are extremely hard gemstones. they are strong and all the more beautiful for it.

bottom line, david gave genya peace and said i’m here for you regardless. and even if he couldn’t live to be with her every step of the way, he made sure that she would live the life that she deserved.

and i don’t know. something about that just seems a bit beautiful to me.

Not too long ago I posted a series of posts to defend Patrick as Nikolai and I still stand by it. I'm watching shadow and bone s2 and they could not have chosen someone more perfect personality or charm wise.

Also Jack wolfe??? Why are you so good??? He incorporated tiny details for Wylan that only exist in the heads of readers. And that's so slay of him.

Sujaya Dasgupta can step on me any time. She is a goddess as Zoya. Gorgeous South Asian beauty and power rolled into one. Just the way she stands exudes power.

Adding tolya and tamar to this because they're making my biromantic ass very bi.

Genya exuding grace is something I know I will always need. Nina putting Kaz in his place. Jesper being sassy. Inej being a badass brown goddess. David being the only softboi. Alina being the Sun summoner. Mal just being... There (sorry Archie I love you). The world is okay again and my skin has cleared up.

PSA for the girlies butthurt about Darklina shippers.

1. It's fictional. It's a pair of characters in a book/show.

2. WE KNOW the Darkling is the embodiment of the stinky water at the bottom of a rubbish bin that hasn't been washed in centuries.

3. Some of us are just horny babes on ovulation, whom have watched one too many Benny Barnes thirsty Tiktok's. We may have some kind of variation of a disease called 'daddy issues' so we enjoy looking at pretty, mostly age inappropriate men.

4. Some of us enjoy something called Dark Romance. We don't judge your tastes so you don't judge ours. It's a preference.

5. WE ARE REASONABLE HUMAN BEINGS who know how to differentiate between fiction and real life.

6. FICTION IS NOT REAL LIFE.

7. We are NOT abuse/predatory behaviour/manipulation apologists just because we enjoy a character with a skewed morality. Again, FICTION IS NOT REAL LIFE.

8. Please stop making mountains out of molehills. Educating and giving your opinion is perfectly fine. I encourage it actually. But don't force your opinions on other people who want just to escape and lose themselves into a universe that DOES NOT EXIST.

shadow and bone season 2 (spoiler)

i wish alina's "corruption" will not be entirely defined by her using shadow. although shadow became a symbol of darkness and evil because of the fold and the terrors that come with it, it will be more interesting to see her make questionable choices using her power of light. this would show how power can both be the key to salvation and also the cause of destruction. it really depends on the choices made by those who wield it.

it will be a good time to explore how all of them (alina, nikolai, zoya, and genya) will take on their responsibilities and handle their power.

all of them will fiercly protect ravka no matter what. but will they lose their humanity in the process?
