At some point last year, I went down a rabbit hole with “fade” knitting and crochet projects and decided to try my hand. The result: a garter stitch wrap in colors inspired by three of my favorite characters from one of my favorite series, the anime/manga/light novel Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi (Kakuriyo: Bed and Breakfast for Spirits). I’m very happy with how it turned out. ☺️
The black/red and white/blue represent the Master and Ginji, and the greens bring to mind Aoi’s kimonos, the purple her obi, and the pink her flower hair pin.

The blanket for my hubs @radwolf76 ‘s birthday that took me a year (mostly procrastinating) to get finished. Garter stitch squares in RHSS Polo Stripe and Grape Fizz, Moon squares in the same with I Love This Yarn Menthe moons and stars, connected with zigzag slipstich in RHSS Black Metallic and arcade stitch edging in RHSS Black Gold Metallic. Whew! Jinxy approved.
Sun and Moon Squares: https://ko-fi.com/s/9eef1b3a37 I learned the arcade stitch from Winding Road Crochet.

My floats are a bit tight so the green diamonds came out kinda puffy but this was my first time so I’m not too upset about it

Garter Stitch Short Rows from Knotions Magazine!
. . . . the fact that I don't have to pick up the wraps make it -so- much easier.

Garter infinity scarf for my good friend Yoto !! I forget how much I really like garter stitch- because it’s ‘beginner’ I think it gets forgotten, and this was so lovely to do. Holding the yarn together gave it a lovely mottled effect
Yarn: Opal Sweet Dreams 6-ply in shade 9727, held double
Pattern: Just garter stitch!

one quarter of my hue shift afghan is done! i’m really hoping this project will keep my interest, as i’ve only ever finished ONE afghan (despite starting many lol).
i think the color changes and stripes really help my brain stay interested though, as this has been easier than other attempted large blankets. i do have another panel in process that i’m making good progress on, so that’s good!!
i also chose my own colors for this instead of rainbow/other pre-selected palettes. i’m hoping it will end up kind of sky-like at the end but we’ll see ! 😅

On discovering recently that a spouse is allergic to polyester, I am endeavoring to knit them a large lapghan made entirely of cotton. ( @vintageandroid often has lap blankets) All their old lap blankets were polyester throws, and I felt like I had to do something about it. So all projects aside (including my squares-blanket for @radwolf76) until this is done.
Here is some of the progress on the blanket! It measures around 48in from end to end, and 7 inches from cast-on edge to working edge. I'm using cotton yarn, and holding a strand of mint solid, and various variegated yarns together. I'm on the third color change (the pastel rainbow ball was pretty small) and have 3 more balls. It's pretty fun, and is working up fairly quickly. Knit on sz 11, 8mm circular needles, using Sugar 'n Cream and Peaches & Cream yarn. I’m hoping to end around 40-48 inches (so it’s roughly square), but I may need more than what I have. Stockinette with garter selvedge edges.

Sunday Stitchin'
I know I skipped a WIP Wed this week; it's been a bit of a busy one, and I didn't get too much done on my projects this week. I'm starting to feel the drag of having all medium-large projects at this point. I know as a crafter I crave that excitement from a finished object, so right now I keep trying to remind myself to enjoy the journey.
Tuesday, mid-migraine as I figured out later, I did attend my local yarn shop's crochet night. I've attended their after hours, which is for anyone but tends to be mostly knitters. While I was there, I worked on my Tunisian Crochet scarf that was supposed to be a Mothers' Day gift, and now is destined to be a Christmas gift. If you missed the story, the short is that I was almost done and then frogged 11 inches due to a stitch miscount. This past craft night was the first I'd picked it up after the damage had been done. Tunisian Crochet seems to be my bridge between the two crafts, so I think I will stick to that being my in person craft night project.
Meanwhile, I'm still practicing my knitting. I'm not quite confident enough yet to bring it to craft night with experienced knitters, but I am really liking the craft so far, and I am eager to learn more techniques. The tease of lace that forms the gaps along this simple shawl makes me so happy, and I keep dreaming of making socks. Soon.

First, I have this shawl as well as the throw to finish first. Honestly, the blanket is almost done too, but I can't put down this shawl because I am so entranced by the lovely green and yellow colors working up. Since we spoke last, I've started alternating between balls to start bringing in the second skein. Since this is a hand-dyed, it will help with the shift just in case there are any variances the eye can't immediately see. (For those in the Thunderfam, I've been calling it my FishTank shawl).
I'm still just winging it on sizing. I know with this being Merino it will stretch in blocking, but I like a big shawl. I'm hoping I'll just know when's a good time to start switching to edging.
Pattern: "Mara Shawl", MadelineTosh available on Ravelry Yarn: "Calm Waters" Arcane Fibre Works - Fingering Weight (Remember when I said I might buy a third hank just in case..._ [Did you know! I have a crochet bingo you can find here]
