In this series, each Friday I’m able, I want to share a different child or group of children who are available for adoption and listed through the adoption advocacy website Reece’s Rainbow. Please note, names used on…
So we’re gonna back track a little, when you were born you was premature so it didn’t surprise anyone when more medical conditions were slowly adding up as you got older. You still had a feeding tube that was a g tube now (still with that same dino backpack it was just bigger now) due to gastroparesis but that’s a story for another time we’re here to talk about y/n’s heart.
Y/n had something called Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, POTS for short this caused a lot of problems not only because of the interactions with her other conditions with it. It was because of most of the symptoms that came with pots that was the problem at least for you.
For you the main and most prominent symptoms were:
-> lightheadedness -> fainting -> abnormal heart rate -> difficulty swallowing (hense the g tube) -> iron deficiency -> fatigue and -> sensitivity to light.
You might say oh that’s a lot, yeah it is when it’s got so many more things going on behind that with multiple different conditions that sometimes don’t interact very well.
There were things in place to prevent and keep track of your symptoms, since your family stopped at nothing and I mean nothing to help you manage and comfort you want you needed it. You had an Apple Watch to keep track of your heart and blood oxygen levels, with a pulse ox in every room just incase you faint or aren’t feeling too hot, and it’s always good to have one to read your vitals since sometimes your arm with the watch on isn’t always a good idea to move if you’ve passed out, since you can have seizures due to low blood sugars which again is another story for another time.
The person who comforted you the most though the happy time, the sad times and the downright painful times was your brother Chris - your ma always told you since the day you were born that he was stuck to you like glue, picture evidence did follow. Weather it was a bad day for your feeds, lightheadedness, migraines or anything he was always there. He’d have a supply of your medical stuff in his room like you did in yours because he always had you come and lay with him Just to watch comfort films, he’d get everything you need.
You would never ever change anything even though sometimes you’d wish you were ‘normal’ you wouldn’t change absolutely anything. Because the bond between you and Chris was still infinite even 13 years later.
i love how i straight up forgot i was holding a test tube in one hand and ended up dropping it because i wanted to take something with that same hand. twice.
as of tomorrow my surgery tally will be at 6, which averages to *approximately* 1 surgery every 3.5 years (i am technically still 20 but i turn 21 next month so?? approximately)
i've also now broken two personal records:
today i had 13 vials of blood drawn (previous record was a mere 7)
and it has only been a month and a half since my last surgery (previous record was a year between surgeries)
