march 21, 2023 - tuesday week 3

tuesday is my busiest day because all of my classes and all of my extracurriculars meet, but i think i've got everything taken care of so i can go to sleep right when i get back to the room!

i did some annotations on the research paper that i'm summarizing for research rotation, and we had a lecture on how to properly do a research proposal. it sounded really daunting but i'm kind of excited to work more on what i think i want to do for the independent research section of the class!

i also transferred my anatomy notes. we finished our first section (basics of animal form and function) yesterday and started our animal nutrition unit! it's a really interesting class, and iirc we're actually starting with wet labs tomorrow!

literally the most cursed thing i've ever seen-

literally the top result of 'is lore olympus ending' is my own dang post talking about the series coming to an end and how poorly the series has been handled leading up to its finale

i said it before and i said it again - the fans should not have to find out from me that their favorite series is coming to an end. this is truly the biggest testament to how much webtoons and rachel are trying to sweep this series under the rug without a hint of hype for its ending.

One thing I forgot to mention in my AJ post is that while you may argue that AJ broadcasts Hamas’ videos or Abu Obeida speeches without commentary and that’s propaganda, it also does broadcast the other side like videos of commentary from Israeli news channels (with subtitles at the bottom) or broadcast completely unedited speeches given by Netanyahu or various gov / army spokespeople with dubbed translation. It’s also had interviews with IDF figures like Avichay Adraee (altho I think recently they stopped platforming him for good reason lol)

Like the other place ive seen Eylon Levy’s ugly face that wasn’t my Twitter feed was on my tv screen broadcast not on Australian media but Al Jazeera! Like what other media org can you say actually bothers to broadcast the other side and allow viewers to draw their own conclusions?

#I’m aware that most of aj’s audience will have a pro Palestine leaning anyway so broadcasting Israeli stuff is effective #but at least you hear it straight from the horses mouth

november 28, 2023 - tuesday week 1

going to try to return to posting here! unfortunately i'm not doing research this quarter, so we won't have any fun stories there, but i have four rather intense chemistry classes and am starting work at my school's brand new writing center, so there will be plenty of stuff to talk about regardless!

i don't have too much homework yet and have wednesdays off this whole term, so it's still smooth sailing. i did buy my first energy drink today, though, and i think i'll have to make a habit of that since i start at 8am most days and nearly fall asleep in my first class if i didn't get a solid 8 hours of sleep (which happens... never). i was pleasantly surprised by how good it tasted LOL

i've got a heavy dose of extracurriculars tonight - wish me luck!

Lord Potter flung himself in the saddle. The stable boy jumped backwards just in time to avoid the great horse’s hooves. James’s volatile mood instantly transferred to Prongs, his young stallion with boundless amounts of nervous energy. As soon as he landed in the saddle they were off, flying past his friends who started shouting at him. He did not heed them.

He needed to be away, to hear only pounding hooves and the howling wind in his ears. He needed to stop hearing Mr Snape's words in his mind.

Even if he knew, rationally, there was no reason, no real reason anyway, to think Miss Evans would ever accept the unpleasant man's suit, still, the thought of him proposing to her, enraged him beyond anything he’d ever experienced. Why was that? Why did it bother him so much to think of her as another's. Was it just his severe dislike of Mr Snape?

James knew it wasn't just that. He wanted her. He deserved her. Well, maybe he didn’t deserve her exactly, but neither did Mr Snape, who believed women were only meant to serve their husbands. He would treat her like nothing more than a good looking pet. The whole idea was absolutely repugnant.

Prongs was on a stampede now, his mane flared out in the wind. Just like the wind swept through James's hair. If they kept going this fast his hat would surely be lost before long. The strong muscles underneath him tensed with each great stride, a hedge proved no obstacle for one swift jump cleared it with ease.

After the second jump his mind cleared and for a while there was nothing but the contracting muscles underneath him, the rhythm of the gallop through the wide forest path, the thundering of hooves, the loud exhales of Prongs and his own short breaths.

At a clearing he slowed and stopped. The sun was out, the leaves of the trees threw their moving shadows over the mossy forest floor. Prongs snorted loudly then pulled the reins and stretched his neck, bending down to rub his face against his front legs. The motion jerked James forward. The moment of awkwardness made him laugh at himself, which reminded him again of miss Evans. She dearly liked to laugh, as he'd come to learn. She would not shy away from telling him her mind, or even tease him, and he'd come to enjoy that even more than her lovely face

Wasn’t it better that he should hear it from the horse’s mouth? Instead of driving himself crazy over what ifs and losing his mind over things that hadn't happened yet.

What if he approached Miss Evans to ask for her hand, what would be the worst that could happen? As if he could read his mind Prongs shook himself and sidestepped some invisible creature, nearly throwing James with his abrupt movement.

Ok I’m sorry y’all but no one is asking dnp to solve the war or turn over all their energy to posting about Palestine. It is the bare minimum to acknowledge the strike and not post a video with a sponsorship from a literal pro-Israel company that is funneling money to the military. Even if that was a video planned far in advance that they were contractually obligated to post, even if they are contractually not allowed to say anything negative about Amazon/audible, they could have made a single post with resources for how to support the strike. They could have mentioned donating some proceeds from the video to Palestine. They could have retweeted someone else’s post. They could have shared the same damn Barbie insta story that Cornelia did. They have tremendous power in their platform and they can put it to use and the fact that they didn’t and haven’t is disappointing. Again, people are asking for a bare minimum of action here. The silence is loud.

Some really good news about Freier Fall/Free Fall sequel ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Director Stephan Lacant was talking to RadioEins yesterday (3 July) about the worldwide success of “Schlafende Hunde”/“Sleeping Dog”, then they talked about his career, where he studied… and then of course about “Freier Fall” in 2013 and how they still have fans asking when the sequel is coming.

And looks like the plan has changed - they are now planning to make a Freier Fall 2 TV series instead of a part-2 feature film ❤️🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌❤️ *screams*

This is what Stephan said during the interview:

Interviewer: There’s news that there will be a sequel. However, that does not mean a second part but…

Stephan: A series.

Interviewer: A series. So after ten years, the two return.

Stephan: Exactly.

Interviewer: And you tell the story of the two of them ten years later?

Stephan: Also about Bettina. So it's going to be from when she was Marc’s wife at that time, of Hanno Koffler. And they separated when the secret came out, of course there was a huge explosion. And now we tell the story ten years later from all three perspectives. From the scenes where all three of them have landed, so to speak. What happened to them in life, what path they have taken in life. And the new, the old flares up again.

Interviewer: Okay that tells it. Series. But that’s not all of it, as you said, it’s not in the clear yet. You guys have done crowdfunding.

Stephan: Just like back then when we did crowdfunding for a sequel feature film. And it went very successfully. Somehow people from all over the world donated, and then the project kind of petered out, a little bit. And now we've relaunched it as a series, so to speak.

Interviewer: Aha, okay, so there are already producers?

Stephan: There are producers with whom we did the first part with and now we are talking to streamers.

Interviewer: Okay, so we'll keep our fingers crossed for you and we're looking forward to the series.
