Keep seeing that post where OP starts like 'Thinking about...grieving the undead' and then adds on about like. Real life situations where people have not died but have left your life and you would have reason to grieve them.

All respect, that's an important concept, but that is not what I am thinking about when I read 'grieving the undead'.

Hey guy submitted an application for a tiny townhouse apartment that I'll probably have to sell most of my furniture to be able to live in let's hope I get it, I need somewhere to live 😵‍💫

Genuinely my main thing with the Watcher thing (I watch their stuff but I’d never consider myself a die hard fan) is that I really want to see the back end projections and business plans that went into this. Show me how their math mathed to the point that this seemed not just viable, but an improvement upon YouTube at this moment in time.

I’ve been watching it unfold all day and seeing the comparisons to Dropout, the unfortunate optics of reinstating the “let’s go eat stupidly expensive stuff” show as your first big new thing for the platform while also saying you don’t have money to do the “TV-quality” things you want, all that’s fine and dandy and not incorrect. But I just can’t see how this is financially going to win out.

I wish the boys the best, hope it works out for their sakes, and I hope regardless that one day we get an idea of what the decision making process was. Not the vague “ad revenue ain’t what it used to be” type comments they made in their very not-reading-the-room announcement video, but actual numbers. I’m super interested.

#I love Dropout’s style but I’m also not subbed to them #I am chronically unable to keep up with things that aren’t on YouTube since I spend all day there #no matter how much I love them #i also think they’re trying to both-sides making content where they clearly wanna upgrade into tv level stuff #but also only want to make their Buzzfeed content that drew the eyeballs and brought in the money #but those Buzzfeed series worked because they were simple and the focus was on the guys and not the production value #mystery files lost a ton of momentum when they started talking to each other from across the room instead of next to each other at a table #ghost files doesn’t work when there’s twelve other people filming and ruining the isolated vibes #and I actually liked their watcher original stuff the best #puppet history and weird wonderful world were my favorites #I even liked Steven’s shows which is APPARENTLY a hot take now #but they all cancelled after one season #so I’m good #watcher #watcher entertainment #steven lim #ryan bergara #shane madej

the reason why dhmis tv feels 'less scary' to most people than the webseries is because the stoplight trio are now aware of the pattern and are more or less resigned to it (minus the occasinal breakdown) and the teachers are way less powerful than the OG teachers.

in the original series, the trio only begin to expect a teacher showing up by episode four (in fact, harry deliberately seeks one out - turning to gilbert when they need to know what the biggest thing in the world is, only to be hijacked by colin), and in that same episode, his self-awareness is rewarded by the narrative with forcible removal from the house.

the original series is a theatre of helplessness, control, and punishment. the trio remember everything that's happened to them but are unable to stop it, and get put through agonizing lessons by teachers that warp reality around them and antagonize them when they toe out of line. when they become self-aware, they're immediately punished by the show (harry getting kicked out into the real world, robin getting canned and cannibalized), and the surviving members have to keep going despite it.

in the new series, their memories are spotty but they're resigned to the teachers showing up. they expect them to the point where it's routine. AND their teachers aren't as untouchable as the old ones, and the trio can toe out of line. the briefcase leaves halfway through the lesson, the coffin gets absolutely blasted to pieces by a shovel, the family gets eaten by roy, warren gets the living shit roasted out of him before getting speared, the train dies midway through before his corpse gets used as a car, and the meter gets her batteries stolen. the trio still are helpless regarding their situation with the house and the loop, but they're nowhere near as under the mercy of the teachers as they used to be.

AND HE GOT BOOTED OFF SET FOR IT!#colin was constantly passive aggressive towards him and the episode ends with his head exploding!#the narrative punishes any form of antagonism the characters have! as soon as robin goes I DONT WANT TO DO THIS ANYMORE #he wakes up on the operating table! the show is a living thing that punishes them for their insolence!#the tv series is kinder. the horror comes from the unknown. not from the knowledge that you're trapped here and there's nothing you can do #ANYWAY THAT'S WHY COLIN LITERALLY STRETCHING HIS MONITOR TO ACCOMMODATE THE TRIO AND SAYING I LOVE YOU IS SO SPECIAL #CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT FOR MY CLEVERY GUY!!!!!!#dhmis #dhmis spoilers #don't hug me i'm scared #yes im using the old terms like stoplight trio. sue me. what. do you want to remember that we also used to call harry Red Mop #AND spaghetti monster

I love that we're getting focus on Chris Rodriguez early in the TV show, so that we have time to get invested in him before he a) betrays the camp and b) is driven so insane that only Dionysus can cure him. Knowing him beforehand will also make his relationship with Clarrisse, friendship and romance, feel more interesting.

What other cool, fun, not-heartbreaking characters will the show give more attention and depth? Silena Beauregarde? Charlie Beckendorf? Micheal Yew? Castor and Pollux? I can't wait!
