What led to this (orufrey comic, cw an uncomfortable/creepy scene)
#witch hat tag#orufrey#er.... i'm too tired to have anything to say..i worked several days on this.#wait.. didn't i say just recently here that i probably wouldn't ever depict 'what if alaira is qifrey's sort-of ex'. What's going on#i don't even remember deciding to draw this..it's all a blur..i'm not sure why i WOULD decide to draw delicate scenes in my head#that i wouldn't really want to share with anyone/discuss so why did i draw it...#some part of me really really wants to draw things that are more and more true to myself...#maybe because of my alienation with most romance/shipping/dynamics the rest of the world depicts.#orufrey really is perfectly suited to me - what i read in the text and what is in my head. well anyway#i am TIRED of drawing poses and angles and..maybe now i will actually take a break from drawing bc of the tediousness of Angles#btw it really is a 'stretch of time' . . . assuming witches graduate age 18-20#well orufrey are canonically 30-ish. they've only had agott around for presumably about TWO years (?) bc she took the test age 10#and it feels like oru moving in/unknown atelier acquisition/building (?) .. i guess that could be a year or so before agott at most#(she was the first disciple) so... ????????? What about the other 7 or so years ?!?!?!!?!?! Unemployed Brimhat Hatred era#that time is very nebulous. after qifrey went to the tower i feel like it's been implied he and oru drifted apart a little.#certainly they didn't live together at first... no way. that doesn't feel like how it is based on things oru has said about becoming Eye#idk. I'm tired now. i don't usually think of alaira as necessarily qifrey's ex and this being how things went in that 'sliver of time'.#i usually prefer the idea that they have their first kiss with each other in their 30s cause That's Just The Orufrey Lifestyle#just felt like making a more relatable alternative view of my own Cai Orufrey Canon one time. btw im a big monoshipper and it hurt a bit#let's leave it there. this is surely the most i've worked on a 'single' art - though now i realise just how much longer the fic took :')

WIP snippet (rainy day)
Will sat at the table, silently watching his brother crack eggs into a bowl.
“Jonathan…”
“Toast?” Jonathan asked, as though he hadn’t heard. But his shoulders were practically up under his ears, tense and pulled in.
“Sure.” He paused before he tried again. “About what happened…”
“You want to try coffee?”
Will blinked. “Huh?”
Jonathan shrugged as he shuffled over to stick bread into the toaster. “You’re not really a kid anymore, right? I was drinking coffee at your age. Younger, even.”
Will thought it over. Not so much whether to try the coffee, but about what it meant. If there was one thing Jonathan wanted, aside from Will’s safety and well-being, then it was for him to get to have a childhood. What did it mean that Jonathan was calling it on that count? Will didn’t want to be treated like a kid, and he certainly didn’t feel like one anymore—even if part of him did still desperately want to cling to those days when his biggest concern was the current D&D campaign.
Careful, uncertain, he said, “Alright.”
Wordlessly, Jonathan poured him a mug. He picked it up to sniff it suspiciously and maybe take a sip, but Jonathan held up a hand.
“Hang on,” he said. He turned away for a moment, returning to plunk a carton of milk and a jar of sugar on the table. He grabbed his own mug from the counter and took a long gulp before he went back to the eggs.
Will watched him some more. “You take yours black.”
Jonathan shrugged. “Give it a shot?”
He held out his mug seemingly without thinking. Will could see the moment Jonathan realized what he was doing—something as simple as offering his brother a sip from his mug. Something that never would have warranted a first thought, let alone a second. His Adam’s apple jumped, eyes flicking down to the floor. But he didn’t take his hand back.
Will was careful not to let their hands touch as he accepted the mug. Jonathan turned to watch him over his shoulder, the ghost of amusement pulling his lips at the corners. He raised his eyebrows.
Will took a sip and immediately made a face. He shook his head, shuddering, as he handed it back.
Jonathan huffed a soft sound that last week would have been a laugh.
“Try it with sugar,” he said.
Still smacking his lips at the overwhelming bitterness coating his tongue, Will poured sugar with one hand and milk with the other. Jonathan reached over to stick a spoon into his mug and stir it a few times.
“I usually make it strong,” he said, apologetic.
“It doesn’t taste like it smells,” Will noted. He’d always kind of liked the smell a bit, or maybe he just liked the feelings he associated it with—Jonathan making breakfast, Mom kissing his forehead while she accepted a cup. Safety. Warmth. There was a strange aftertaste of cigarette smoke; he was pretty sure that was some kind of phantom association from his parents.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. It smells nice, but it tastes like pencils.”
Pausing with a slice of toast in each hand, hovering over the plates, he raised an eyebrow. “And when it’s light and sweet?”
Will drank again. The milk and stirring had cooled it slightly, but it was still pleasantly hot. “Big improvement.”
Jonathan hummed in acknowledgement. “Thought so.”
Will parked the cup against his sternum, letting the heat seep through his shirt. It was plenty warm outside, but the heat soothed a phantom chill inside of him that he hadn’t even noticed until it started to ease. As though that evil was still inside of him, needing to be burned out.
He blinked. There was a plate in front of him; Jonathan was sitting across the table.

I love how blind I am. Like I literally glanced over that video when I was searching, but because it was a compilation vid from F1, I foolishly thought: "surely they won't have any footage that's not from the race archive itself!", but nope okay they just randomly drop that clip on us in a random vid okay thank you f1, I guess!!!!
I genuinely don't understand why they do things the way they do. Like on F1TV, they have the race archive, right? But then they have the highlights video....which includes footage that's not even in the original archive so I'm like huh????? And then of course they randomly release clips like that into the wild, like thank you, but jfc would it kill you to put them all in the same place??

#I do like the way his work looks#like a Lot of alternative/indie '90s to turn of the millennium stuff went for the oblique kind of ''in your face'' cinematography#it could probably also be viewed as obnoxious in cases by some lmao I'm fully aware my fondness comes from nostalgia#lot of close-ups/wide-angles#hype williams was kind of the pioneer for the latter one in music videos#maybe because it's because that was a generally irreverent period and. I hate to use the word ''quirky'' lmao. surrealistic?#so directors were aiming for appropriate visuals#but adam bernstien's style is also very distinctive with it.#like you watch scenes from pete and pete and his videos of the time like tmbg's stuff. baby got back. and love shack#and you can See his trademarks#in fact I was so convinced that REM's ''stand'' was gonna be by him and it isn't. sometimes bsd reddit can be fun but sometimes i will go on it and see posts like "why do people think dazai is depressed? i don't remember it ever being mentioned, is it just a common fanon thing?"

I am in the horrible state in which I want to write All The Stories so badly that I can write None Of The Stories.
This usually lasts 3-7 days and always stinks. Every single story idea shows up and presents itself as a vivid expansive piece that will be easy to write and should be written soon. It is a lie. My brain knows it is a lie and thus sits back and waits five minutes for me to get bored and move on to the next idea. Yet they all clamor around in the background taking up my attention span and making it impossible to focus on any one idea.
#adventures in writing#i could list the stories that have demanded brainspace but it would take too long#there are story ideas i abandoned years ago that are suddenly crawling out of the attic and demanding attention#a lot of political intrigue fairy tales#it is the time of year for violet ink and it arrived exactly on time#as if it has a yearly appt for me to brainstorm and then leaves before i can write a word#this year i've got a more grounded political intrigue angle that'd be cool if i knew any of the politics of the world#but there are so many worlds that all pretend to be more developed than they are to trick me into writing stories there#lost library came out of the woodwork and demanded some violet ink aesthetic and some fairy tales set there#this is all made worse by the fact that i just found out about roseanna m white's new imprint for publishing royal fiction#you know my very favorite cozy genre where most of my ideas live#and i have no intention of writing anything for it but it doesn't stop me from musing over my oldest and cheesiest ideas#a beautiful tomorrow would have been perfect for that imprint#and my brain keeps trying to tell me that i should write that crazy alternate history hallmark royal romance#about the princess of california (very catholic very spanish) entering into an arranged marriage with the prince of maine#it is so silly but i would take it so seriously#because fluffy royal romance deserves some more off-beat worldbuilding#but anyway yeah it's very weird in my imagination right now stop by sometime and i'll tell you about more weird story ideas

I don’t think ash’s riolu is any more than level 20 and he’s using it to go up against fucking legendaries like. Journeys is really fun and I think the way they’ve incorporated team rocket into the eternatus plot was very effective but considering how journeys functions as a series I’m surprised they decided to just speedrun the entire plot of swsh
