i need to get this out of my head before i continue clone^2 but danny being the first batkid. Like, standard procedure stuff: his parents and sister die, danny ends up with Vlad Masters. He drags him along to stereotypical galas and stuff; Danny is not having a good time.

He ends up going to one of the Wayne Galas being hosted ever since elusive Bruce Wayne has returned to Gotham. Vlad is crowing about having this opportunity as he's been wanting to sink his claws into the company for a long while now. Danny is too busy grieving to care what he wants.

And like most Galas, once Vlad is done showing him off to the other socialites and the like, he disappears. Off to a dark corner, or to one of the many balconies; doesn't matter. There he runs into said star of the show, Bruce who is still young, has been Batman for at least a year at this point, but still getting used to all these damn people and socializing. He's stepped off to hide for a few minutes before stepping back into the shark tank.

And he runs into a kid with circles under his eyes and a dull gleam in them. Familiar, like looking into a mirror.

Danny tries to excuse himself, he hasn't stopped crying since his parents died and it's been months. He rubs his eyes and stands up, and stumbles over a half-hearted apology to Mister Wayne. Some of Vlad's etiquette lessons kicking in.

Bruce is awkward, but he softens. "That's alright, lad," he says, pulling up some of that Brucie Wayne confidence, "I was just coming out here to get some fresh air."

There's a little pressing; Bruce asks who he's here with, Danny says, voice quiet and grief-stricken, that he's with his godfather Vlad Masters. Bruce asks him if he knows where he is, and Danny tells him he does. Bruce offers to leave, Danny tells him to do whatever he wants.

It ends with Bruce staying, standing off to the side with Danny in silence. Neither of them say a word, and Danny eventually leaves first in that same silence.

Bruce looks into Vlad Masters after everything is over, his interest piqued. He finds news about him taking in Danny Fenton: he looks into Danny Fenton. He finds news articles about his parents' deaths, their occupations, everything he can get his hands on.

At the next gala, he sees Danny again. And he looks the same as ever: quiet like a ghost, just as pale, and full of grief. Bruce sits in silence with him again for nearly ten minutes before he strikes a conversation.

"Do you like to do anything?"

Nothing. Just silence.

Bruce isn't quite sure what to do: comfort is not his forte, and Danny doesn't know him. He's smart enough to know that. So he starts talking about other things; anything he can think of that Brucie Wayne might say, that also wasn't inappropriate for a kid to hear.

Danny says nothing the entire time, and is again the first to leave.

Bruce watches from a distance as he intercts with Vlad Masters; how Vlad Masters interacts with him. He doesn't like what he sees: Vlad Masters keeps a hand on Danny's shoulder like one would hold onto the collar of a dog. He parades him around like a trophy he won.

And there are moments, when someone gets too close or when someone tries to shake Danny's hand, of deep possessiveness that flints over Vlad Masters' eyes. Like a dragon guarding a horde.

He plays the act of doting godfather well: but Bruce knows a liar when he sees one. Like recognizes like.

Danny is dull-eyed and blank faced the entire time; he looks miserable.

So Bruce tries to host more parties; if only so that he can talk to Danny alone. Vlad seems all too happy to attend, toting Danny along like a ribbon, and on the dot every hour, Danny slips away to somewhere to hide. Bruce appears twenty minutes later.

"I was looking into your godfather's company," he says one night, trying to think of more things to say. Some nights all they do is sit in silence. "Some of my shareholders were thinking of partnering up--"

"Don't."

He stops. Danny hardly says a word to him, he doesn't even look at him -- he's sitting on the ground, his head in his knees. Like he's trying to hide from the world. But he's looking, blue eyes piercing up at Bruce.

Bruce tilts his head, practiced puppy-like. "Pardon?"

"Don't." Danny says, strongly. "Don't make any deals with Vlad."

It's the most words Danny's spoken to him, and there's a look in his eyes like a candle finding its spark. Something hard. Bruce presses further, "And why is that?"

The spark flutters, and flushes out. Danny blinks like he's coming out of a trance, and slumps back into himself. "Just don't."

Bruce stares at him, thoughtful, before looking away. "Alright. I won't."

And they fall back into silence.

Danny, when he leaves, turns to look at Bruce, "I mean it." He says; soft like he's telling a secret, "Don't make any deals with him. Don't be alone with him. Don't work with him."

He's scampered away before Bruce can question him further.

(He never planned on working with Vlad Masters and his company; he's done his research. He's seen the misfortune. But nothing ever leads back to him. There's no evidence of anything. But Danny knows something.)

At their next meeting, Danny starts the conversation. It's new, and it's welcomed. He says, cutting through their five minute quiet, that he likes stars. And he doesn't like that he can't see them in Gotham.

Bruce hums in interest, and Danny continues talking. It's as if floodgates had been opened, and as Bruce takes a sip of his wine, it tastes like victory.

("Tucker told me once--") ("Tucker?") ("Oh-- uh, one of my best friends. He's a tech geek. We haven't talked in a while.")

(Danny shut down in his grief -- his friends are worried, but can't reach him. When he goes back to the manor with Vlad, he fishes out his phone and sends them a message.)

(They are ecstatic to hear from him.)

It all culminates until one day, when Danny is leaving to go back inside, that Bruce speaks up. "You know," He says, leaning against the railing. "The manor has many rooms; plenty of space for a guest."

The implication there, hidden between the lines. And Danny is smart, he looks at Bruce with a sharp glean in his eyes, and he nods. "Good to know."

The next time they see each other, Danny has something in his hands. "Can you hold onto something for me?" He asks.

When Bruce agrees, Danny places a pearl into his palm. or, at least, it's something that looks like a pearl. Because it's cold to the touch; sinking into Bruce's white silk gloves with ease and shimmering like an opal. It moves a little as it settles into his hand, and the moves like its full of liquid.

Bruce has never seen anything like it before, but he does know this; it's not human. "What is it?" He asks, and Danny looks uncomfortable.

"I can't tell you that." He says, shifting on his foot like he's scared of someone seeing it. "But please be careful with it. Treat it like it's extremely fragile."

When Bruce gets home, he puts it in an empty ring box and hides the box in the cave. He tries researching into what it is. he can't find anything concrete.

Everything comes to a head one day when Danny appears at the manor's doorstep one evening, soaking wet in the rain, and bleeding from the side.

so. The Lights Out AU. Those that are asleep? Where on earth are they? Like where the heck is Eddie? Laying in some puddle somewhere? in a bed? Is Frank looking after him until he wakes up?

they were originally in their houses, but after a ah... incident, Wally moved them into storage room off-set. it's a bit small so they're a little crammed in there with other Props and shelves and boxes and such, but it's not like any of them are awake to mind it. Walls regularly checks on them (usually along with removing them for one of Sally's plays) and makes sure to keep the door shut tight

Just adding another long point to your Frank and Eddie parenting styles post:

Frank has gotta be like, 110% used to Julie's wacky antics/games already, so I'm sure his response would be similar if his kid was just as energetic. Sure he can still worry, but I'm sure he would be able to roll along with it better. My guy has experience, hence more chill

but Eddie seems to be very anxious during Julie's pretend business skit or while she was on the roof during one of the holiday audios, so he'd probably be way more worried/freaked out if his kid was that energetic. Dude would probably conjure up worst case scenarios is his head 24/7, hence less chill

I am pointing very enthusiastically!! I was thinking about that exactly! Eddie is a constant nervous wreck and worries so much he's probably making Poppy look calmer by comparison.

grinding my teeth holding off on too much thinking abt the early times in the custodians' existence bc i havent gotten all of the deep lore arc bits yet

#a small thought. each of the custodians have WAY different frames that look like theyre meant to serve different purposes. ANNIE the most--#--'human-like' with her 3 fingered hands + 'clothing'. FRANK with a built in printer+grabbers that look a bit more delicate--#--than ROBBIES. ROBBIE a very utilitarian model seemingly meant to withstand heavier labor. like they were all made to fulfill certain--#--roles on the ship TOGETHER and then SOMETHING happened that made the people in charge of logistics+shit think a single overworked--#--miserable custodian would be more efficient/safe/cost effective than three together. ohhh my god !!!!!!!!!!

Operation Disney Princess Ladrien:

so I have the intro chapter and the Snow White chapter posted. The first Cinderella chapter is so close to being done!

I am trying to include Disney princess sequel movies, so Cinderella ii and iii, the little mermaid ii and iii, maybe the beauty and the beast Christmas special, etc. is it ambitious? Yes. Will it maybe take a million years? Also yes. But I feel like this has a lot of crack potential.

some ideas I’m particularly excited about are Sleeping Beauty (which involves dungeons and dragons, voodoo, and Ladybug slapping Adrien but it’s to help him, I promise) and The Little Mermaid ii (I’m thinking Jubilation baby hijinks)

Lots of identity shenanigans, love square is endgame of course, and djwifi is also prominent. I’ve been playing around with this idea since before I even got tumblr (2021), but I am so scatterbrained and slow. I won’t give up though!

as for the tinder au (I will think of a better name I promise):

so basically Marinette and Adrien are adults and this is a no miraculous au. Marinette and Adrien haven’t met before the tinder incident.

Marinette runs a successful fashion boutique. While she’s not opposed to tinder dates, she just doesn’t really prioritize a romantic relationship right now (mostly bc I wanted to keep Adrien as her first real love like in the show). She does, however, prioritize goofing around on tumblr and she makes the fateful post you did, not expecting anything of it. It goes just like in real life. She has accepted her fate bc Marinette is a woman of her word.

Adrien was able to get out of his abusive home and start over. He’s still famous, so he tries to be as incognito as possible. He set up a joke tinder account with Chat Noir as his alias. (Fun fact I’m actually banned from tinder, if anyone asks I will explain why.) Marinette’s bio comes up and of course he wants to know more.

You will have to wait and see the rest!!! (I’m admittedly trying to get something important done in my personal life; it’s a long process, but I think I’m getting to the end. However, I’m still excited about this and am trying to get it done as quickly but as high quality as possible.)

Man I wanna think a lot more about what Charlie and my living situation would be like, like I imagine we’d be living in his apartment together for awhile. A good while. But then I’d want to go to school to get a better job so we can have a comfier living situation. Especially if we start talking about wanting to have kids in the future. Cuz no way am I raising children in that dingy one-room apartment shfjfl

#it’s just not safe or sanitary #plus I grew up not living in the best places you know. and I wouldn’t want that for my kids #so I’d be ready to work rly hard to get us a nice place to live #ideally a house but. idk how likely that is with Charlie working at the bar #and I wouldn’t ever wanna ask him to get some rat race job #if we could at least get a nicer apartment that has its own kitchen and bathroom that’d be the main goal ahdjfl #I think at some point that would happen. we’d get a nicer apartment. and depending on things maybe a house #but in the meantime hoooeeeey it’d be rough goings in that apartment lol #like I said. no bathroom. bc it’s broken #maybe I’d just fix it myself #actually now that I think about it. Charlie literally cleans and fixes toilets??? why doesn’t he fix his bathroom?? ahdjfl #maybe that’s something we’d look into ahdjfkl #but I guess we’d still be sleeping on the couch bed. I’d just buy us a new mattress bc Frank was sleeping on it #and who could forget the infamous poop incident. i wanna do a thing where i lay out studies that show things in different primates that show us parts of ourselves as humans. Call it Primates: Through the Looking Glass or The Monkey in the Mirror or something

There are studies and documentaries that show things about Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Bonobos, Baboons, Macaques... that just make sense to me. That if shown right would make sense to a lot of people, i think.

like... they were studying this one group of gorillas --

okay wait. First of all, you know a silverback (the Big Male) of the group is not the leader or in charge or anything, right? He has a role, and it includes a certain amount of control, which i’ll explain briefly, but he’s not, like, in charge.

wait, you know all that Dominance/Alpha theory about wolves is all wrong, right?

wait wait wait, and also that like, the bull or the stag or whatever in a herd is not in charge of anything, right? right?

hold on. the wolves is it’s own post, the herd thing i might get back to, we’re on gorillas, okay. Silverback is basically just the male head of an extended family in which plenty of the leadership is handled by the women of the family.

There are often 2-4 silverbacks, but one, usually the largest, will clearly be senior to the others who are often his sons or brothers. Silverbacks have three main roles

1: defend the group from all physical threats aside from people, these threats are mostly random male gorillas, chimpanzee baby-snatching gangs, and the occasional leopard. Just his alert presence handles most scenarios, and then maybe a few times a year he has to risk his life fulfilling this responsibility. It is this role that provides most of whatever actual power he has over the group, namely this: while he isn’t necessarily the one deciding when and where the group goes on a daily basis, if the most powerful/capable silverback does decide to travel a direction, they pretty much have to go with him, the family isn’t safe without him.

2: make babies. And this is one area where the ladies of the group will sometimes sort of vote with their ovaries, and favor a silverback that isn’t the main one, like “yeah, Frank, you are the biggest, but honestly you’re a dick and we’re going to make sure the next generation of silverbacks isn’t another one of you.” When you see a main large silverback in a group of gorillas, it isn’t, like, his blindly loyal harem, they have to approve of him. Also gorilla females move between groups, and sometimes they take members with them or start new groups and stuff. Anyway i’m getting off track, one of the silverbacks jobs is making babies

3. keep the peace This functions a lot like being in the back seat with your siblings with your parents up front. Basically any disputes within the group have to be handled within a certain parameter of decorum, because if it gets too out of hand HE’s going to come over, and He’ll be upset, which is low-key terrifying because He’s huge, and there’s no telling who He’ll decide is at fault or what he’ll do about it, so letting a situation get out of hand is a losing scenario for everyone involved really. Tho typically he will favor senior females in disputes, in a “don’t you talk that way to your mom” kind of way.

one last thing, silverbacks don’t actually transfer power between silverbacks via battle every time.

Like i was just reading accounts from a multi-generational observational study of some wild gorillas that featured one big silverback just straight up taking over by performing the silverback duties better and becoming preferred by everyone else in the group. There was no fight, it just became, i do the job better, everyone likes me better, kicking my ass can’t change that, and boom, he was the primary silverback. And the other silverback might have been a bit dull, or a bit of a bully, but like us their species’ success is largely dependent on social intelligence; once he saw the writing on the wall, that other, slightly larger sivlerback didn’t even bother trying to change the situation with a physical fight, he understood what had happened.

okay so all that was just to tell you all this story. lol. Here’s what i saw in one documentary:

This very big, getting old silverback, who was hugely popular and successful, with a very large and tightly bonded family group, and a couple of his hulking adult sons backing him up. Everybody in his group seemed to love him a lot, he was particularly calm in that gentle giant sort of way, a safe, emotionally steady presence, happy to help raise his sons and daughters with kindness, and who could become a raging nightmare if pressed by a leopard ... exactly what a band of gorillas wants in a silverback.

But one of his adult sons had plenty of silver on his own back, and was getting itchier and itchier to be main man of the group, and this is where we start our little drama

It seems to be coming to a head, and the observers are nervous about a fight for the position. The silverback and his son are both are huge, probably approaching 400lbs, mostly muscle, with long thick fangs and skulls topped with jaw muscles as big as human biceps to wield those teeth, which nature has given them primarily to fight other gorillas with.

But then the next day, the old man leads the fam up the mountain.

it’s winter, which is why they have come down the mountain in the first place. But as we discussed, if he goes somewhere, they have to go, so they all follow behind.

up he goes, and then he sits. And waits. It’s cold and there is much less food up here at this time of year. There’s nothing to do but sit hungry in the cold. His size and metabolism makes him the most able to withstand the cold, but even he is pretty uncomfortable.

And so he sits. And his family, perhaps confused, but loyal, sits around him.

But his son, the other huge silverback, with years of training even as an adult under his wise father, is ready and able to go off on his own. Finally, he stands up, makes clear his intentions to leave this uncomfortable place. A small handful of the other gorillas stand with him -- if he goes down the mountain, then they can safely leave as well. He turns and heads down the mountain. After a moment, a few more gorillas leave the main group to follow. All in all it winds up being nearly half.

The wise older silverback thoughtfully watches his son leave with about half the group. He sits a while longer in the cold, in the company of those most loyal to him, and then takes them along a different path down the mountain

And those two groups still ran into each other sometimes, and were friendly. And sometimes a couple gorillas would change between the two groups. They were still close.

But i just thought that was such an elegant, meaningful way for that gorilla to handle that whole situation. And it makes a completely human sort of sense to me.

I keep crying because. because. they gave these two old gay men not only sixteen years unequivocally in love with each other, but also gave them just about the happiest ending anyone could hope for in a world like the one in tlou: dying on their own terms, in each others arms. a lesser show could have easily ended their story when bill was shot, he could have bled out in frank's arms, and it would have even been understandable in a show like this, but no. like bill said, this is not a tragedy. frank didn't have to keep living alone without bill. they chose to die together, locked away safe together for the rest of time. its so unbelievably beautiful and so much more than any of us could have hoped for from a show of this genre, any show really, that I don't even know what to do with myself about it

thinking about touching the exposed skin on aventurines chest…

the two of you were currently alone, enjoying some much needed peace after a long day. though, you suppose the peace wouldn’t last long since you let your impulsive thoughts take over.

what would happen if you teased the skin beneath aventurine’s chest window?

before you could stop yourself, your hand had already reached out to caress the exposed skin.

his reaction was one you found quite delightful, his body immediately tensing up as he narrows his eyes at you in a playful manner. “oh? I didn’t know we were playing this game tonight.” aventurine smirks—a feeble attempt at covering up the way you had slightly flustered him. it was obvious your touch made his heart throb and his breath quicken, his pupils dilated as his cheeks were coated in a rosy tint. your sudden touch had caught him off guard, his trust and affection for you allowing him to safely lower his guard around you.

“I just wanted to see how you’d react, that’s all.” you quickly respond, hoping to dismiss any ideas of him retaliating and teasing your body back as well. despite how you seemed to want him to forget about it, you only added more fuel to the fire once you decided to teasingly lick his exposed skin.

feeling your warm tongue on his smooth skin, aventurine couldn’t help but bite his lower lip as he looks down at you with half-lidded eyes. to be frank—he enjoyed it when you played these games with him. it gave him chances to amuse himself, as well as chances to enjoy your touch.

though … he considered reciprocation to be the best part in these little games.

which is why there was a mischievous and sly smirk on his lips as he uttered his next words. “mm… you say that, and yet, you’re still choosing to continue. I’m sure you’re aware of what you’re getting yourself into, aren’t you? so… better prepare yourself.” aventurine chuckles lowly at your surprised expression. now, he was sure he implanted many ideas into your head regarding what he would do to you—but he chose to make you anticipate his next actions as he begins to pull his gloves off with his teeth.

…this ended up much more suggestive than i intended for it to be(*ﾟ▽ﾟ*) but regardless, enjoy!
