Under a cut because I'm analyzing marineford/ace and it's heavily about suicide/being suicidal

"name a character that didn't run away" and they say ace............. I'm pretty sure he did the ultimate "run away"..... Do people not see aces actions at the end of marineford being..... Suicidal....? He wasn't being a bad ass. definitely think oda was trying to portray how tough being suicidal can be, where, even if you have everything and everyone is there for you, it ultimately doesn't matter. And how tough it is for the people who love the person who's suicidal/has committed suicide. And no matter how they go about helping, at the end of the day, it's up to the individual to choose whether they should continue to live or not. That's why when people say "garp should have stepped up he could've changed everything" Im like???? Because it wouldn't have made a difference at that point. And garp knew that. Ace knew garp loved him. Ace knew his friends and family loved him. Ace knew all of that. Regardless, ace didn't want to live. Oda is trying to make you empathize. He wants you to empathize with the "good guys" and the "bad guys" he wants you to empathize with the pirates AND the cops. He wants you to empathize with the victims AND the abusers. Now, oda takes a stance, you can tell what his stance is and where he resides on the moral scale, but that doesn't mean he doesn't practice and doesn't want you to practice empathizing. Marineford was odas way of saying that your love matters. Even if it doesn't succeed. It's still important to love. People will choose to die if they choose to die, and they should die knowing they're loved. Ace died knowing he was loved. Even if that love wasn't enough to keep him alive. Sometimes it's not enough and it's not your fault and it's not their fault. Idk...... I have so much to say about this. I think so many people miss this about marineford and it's a damn shame bc it has such a powerful message regarding people who are suicidal and people who are left over after someone they loves commits suicide.

Gimly's D&D 5E Player Characters - #3

Name: Khazaal the Apostate

Race: Hobgoblin

Class: War Cleric

Background: Slaver

Ability Modifiers: +4 Wisdom & Constitution; +0 Charisma

Campaign: I played Khazaal in a quick experiment thing my roommate and I did. One of us would build a dungeon out of tabletop terrain, and then the other would make a story and treasure and guards and traps for it, while the first would play as two characters and try to get through it, then switch. Seeing as this was just an experiment, and evil player characters often do not fit in actual campaigns, I figured this was my chance to bring the biggest bastards I could create to the table.

Khazaal and Legion (but especially Khazaal) were those two characters. They did end up beating the dungeon, but that's where I left them, probably forever.

Backstory: After Khazaal's vast hobgoblin warherd suffered a stunning defeat at the hands of small band of Acolyte heroes, she, the only survivor, questioned the immutability of her god Maglubiyet. She was cast out of goblinoid society for daring to think such heresies.

Even a Hobgoblin soldier as bold and enduring as Khazaal would not survive long alone, and without a tribe, she was forced to seek out strength elsewhere. On this journey, she met a group of zealots who were her match in combat, and soon after she became a devotee of the Wargod Bane, whose ruthlessness in battle reminded her of Maglubiyet, and whose symbol of the black hand, she likened to The Hand formation of Hobgoblin society, where she had once been a Fatal Axe.

Now with stability, Khazaal next sought out prosperity. To this end, she became a slaver, and was commissioned to search for slaves who had gone running.

just some. stuff. on my mind that is or is not relevant to this blog ig

my life has gotten really hectic! in a month-ish i’m getting married, which is very exciting but very stressful and time-consuming.

this means one of two things for here:

i disappear for a while on the art front because i’m just too busy

OR

i stay active because this blog has, in some ways, become a source of stress relief during a really insane time in my life

guess we’ll see

which brings me to the next point: burnout is peering at me from around the corner and i’m hoping she goes the fuck away. it’s been a long time since i’ve truly loved drawing and writing, i finally feel like myself again after so many years. i really hope that the fast-paced and pressured feeling from modern-day fandom does not kill my love for IZ, because that would honestly be crushing.

if you are nice to me, i’m going to be nice to you. i am not a bully, and i don’t condone bullying of others based on their preferred ships. i am just here to have fun, which i’m pretty sure is the case for most of us.

fandom does not have to be so fucking black and white. if we’re friends and you find out that i am not a fan of your favorite ship, we are still friends as long as that’s something you’re okay with. it really is that simple.

okay so, I read THE txt fanfic and now I am emotionally destroyed at 3 am.
