Are there any period dramas you’re looking forward to in 2024?

Hiya,

I will split this into two lists.

Returning Shows:

Being a Penelope girl I am looking forward to Bridgerton Season Three for what I call my soft period drama fix.

I also thoroughly enjoyed Marie Antoinette for what it was so looking forward to the show returning for a second season and how that goes.

Vikings Valhalla season two felt very stale for me apart from Godwin and Emma (oh and Cnut but he needs to be a leading man IMHO), I am waiting with trepidation if it delivers in its final season which I think is a waste because I wanted to see it go to 1066.

The Serpent Queen do I need to say anything more, that show was a f**king hoot and produced by The Hunger Games sequels and prequels director (who also directed Britney's Slave 4 U video btw) it met my expectations.

Being a Tudor girlie I have to obligatory say Wolf Hall but in my honest opinion only for new portrayals of Anne of Cleves and Kathryn Howard (I am not a Thomas Cromwell girlie).

New Projects:

Firebrand being the #1 Catherine Parr girlie I cannot wait to see a new production of her and how they handle her story. I am also looking forward to a younger Catherine than what has previously been portrayed.

King and Conqueror, it is a new show with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as William the Conqueror and James Norton as Harold, Earl Of Wessex during 1066 (so answering my Vikings: Valhalla wishes) produced by CBS and BBC (CBS owns Showtime). No official release date yet but I am into it. X

My Lady Jane, now Queen Jane Grey has become a fast favourite of mine so anything with her in it I am there.

Dick Turpin with Noel Fielding as Dick, now the Horrible Histories fan in me is squealing (why no Matt Baynton though?).

Mary and George, I feel the Tumblr girlies are going to go miles with this and I just want to see what it is about y'know be part of the fun.

george figures it out before you do, because you're getting nauseous at things you love and just generally feeling Icky all the time - he suggests a test (quite excitedly, actually) and you're both overjoyed when it turns out you're having a baba. in terms of telling the guys... you have to tell the healys first, because of course you do, which is funny because they announced they were having a baby a couple of months ago (hi dylan!), so you go for brunch with them (and thank you to vee @abiiors for this idea). you decide you're going to tell them after you've caught up for a bit, but actually you don't even get to do that properly, because the sight and smell of the scrambled eggs on george's plate is making you wince; flatmate girly is like "oh, yeah, eggs gave me horrendous morning sickness in the first couple of months of my pregnancy", and you just sit in silence and smile as you watch her eyes widen. you're like "yeah, i think i'm the same", and matty immediately starts crying and grabs george in a hug like "this is the best news. healy daniel friendship round two!", while his wife is like "oh, congratulations! i'm glad we get to go through this together" as she hugs you - george is like "yeah, mate, we get to go through not smoking together too lol" to matty (god help you btw like the two of them jonesing for cigs while the two of you are throwing up? you're all insane). but yeah, hugs all round - matty's like "this is so fucking mental. only feels like five minutes ago that you and george admitted you fancied each other at my eighteenth" to you, and you hug him like "yeah, and you told me you were in love with your wife on the literal day you met her", and she and george stop hugging to be like "hang on WHAT" so you have to explain that one lmao. but yeah. so cute! <3

Some Random Bill Weasley 🧡 Headcanons

He was into curse breaking before he even had a wand. There was even a case where Arthur came home with a cursed watch someone snuck into his pocket, and Bill was able to de curse it. No wand needed. He was meant for greatness from then on

The reason Ginny doesn’t have any real long turn damage from the diary, besides ya know trauma, was because of Bill. Given his history of curse breaking, and 100% defiantly dealing with a Horcrux before, he was able to make sure she was able to recover to the best of his abilities. Helps that Ginny is a fighter all the same

His patronus used to be that of a lion, but after the werewolf attack it became that of a wolf.

He has a wand with a Horned Serpent Horn core. It’s perfect for a curse breaker. To help them sense danger when they can’t see or feel it themselves

The only reason he has long hair was he convinced Molly that he grew it out to help Ginny not feel ‘girly’ for having long hair. Charlie hates him for stealing his plans

He moved back to working at Gringotts after the war. As to be closer to George, given Fred’s passing. The goblins welcomed him with open arms, and give him scheduled time off for when the full moon comes around

Given he is a curse breaker, it literally sucks the life out of you. So he is rather pale and slender. It also means mental health is extremely important, so he has a lot of vacations. Along with is the family therapist. As if he wasn’t being the eldest

He works a side hobby with trying to find a cure, some kind of new medication, for Werewolfism. Since he himself did not suffer its extreme effects, he figured due to being a curse breaker, he figured a break through. That if you treat the wound quickly, as if a typical curse, it can be stopped

He is a leading advocate for werewolf equality, and uses his curse breaking title to hold weight in what he does and says. Hermione is proud, and Lupin is as well

He is also 100% part of Abigail’s Pack

And might have possibly slept with her dad at some point shushhhhh

Gerald Grey x Bill Weasley Art When?

He’s now called the “family dog” and he has bitten people so that didn’t help

Speaking of them, it’s actually canon he was taken in as a curse breaker after Hogwarts. Meaning he’s probs one of the youngest curse breakers ever at being 17-18. So the goblins 100% are a bunch of old men with their ginger kid. Fuck with him? You have to deal with a bunch of angry goblins. Leave their adopted ginger alone!

Lps popular doodles! I really loved this show when I was little! I still do! When I watched I would imagine that Brooke and Savannah and all there friends were super fashionable (which is kinda alluded to in the show but not fleshed out to much). So I thought it would be fun to design and explore there style!

I personally though Brookes would fashion would be inspired by Regina George from mean girls and Coquette aesthetic because she gives off Regina vibes and I thought coquette clothing because it’s soft and girly which Brooke is but also some of the pieces can feel very business casual to me in a way. Like she’s put together and a bad bitch but she got the fun pink to go with it! Also the innocent nature that goose with the coquette style can help Brooke seem more helpless and can manipulate people better. Because one thing Brooke is she is calculated! When it comes to manipulation she will think things through and use everything in her power to get what she want like her outfit!!!

Now with Savanna I think she would have a mix of Genny (who I see as a downtown girl aesthetic/clothing) and Brookes style! At the beginning of the series we see Savannah isn’t well dressed or “pretty” as the others and so when she gets her make over her friends influence her style hence her borrowing Genny style but also copying Brooke to in ways because they use to be friends and also because in a way she still chasing her acceptance and she is the most influential person in her life. So she’ll mix pieces from both of the styles to make her own unique outfits but also sometimes sticks to one style. Also added bonus when Savy start dating Tom I think she would sometimes she would wear his letterman jacket because 1. He’s a football player so it shows off her poplar girl status like “yeah I’m dating a football player you wish you were me”, 2. To shove it in Brookes face that she is as popular and getting even more popular then her, 3. Rub it in Sages face and “ show him what he’s missing” and 4. Tom is the kind of boyfriend to give her the jacket he’s sweet like that. ( I don’t like Sage as her boyfriend… like obviously Brooke and Savy are like exs and I could go on how there so sapphic coded and there that horrible awful first sapphic situationship break up but this is not what this post is about today. Umm anyways wall this to say about of the two boys for me it’s Tom over Sage.)

Also side note the reason I don’t mention Savannah not borrowing her style from Lina because I don’t see her to be as fashionable as Genny because it’s been mentioned before in the series she not as into popularity as Savvy and Jenny are so I feel like Savanna didn’t look to her as much. I still do think she got influence of outfits from her but I see her as more laid back with her fashion. Like she has a good style and has really good outfits it isn’t as calculated while at times I feel Genny and Savy will really think there outfits throughout to try and get things and have certain influences like Brooke dose. ( now that I think about this I feel like I got this wrong because Lina is the one that has the idea to take her shopping but I don’t I feel like Savvy has more of a fashion connection with Jenny for some reason.)

Anyway can you tell I like LPS popular and still have so much to say about years later 😭 Also sorry if you see any spelling mistakes with the characters names I wrote this all out and then realized Savy and Gens names are spelt different then how I spelt them and I attempted to fix them but idk if I got it all oh well. Tbf tho, I think Talia would've gone into music regardless of Simon; she's got the skills and vids on YT like her Charlie Puth cover show her career path would've remained consistent regardless of Simon

Josh and Freya they met when they were so young ik, and i think Freya sorta opted for helping Josh out and Sidemen w their merch initially... And so ig she doesn't have a conventional 9 til 5 because of her relationship rather than the fact that her relationship was based off of her not having a 9 to 5 (if that makes sense???)

Faith and Ethan Well, i suppose Faith did have a 9 to 5 when she met Ethan. I think that she herself stated that she was a waitress or shop worker until she became pregnant, at which point she and Ethan agreed that she'd give up her job to be a stay at home Mum which is very valid tbh

On the other hand - YouTuber spouses that DO work 9 to 5s???

Reev and Megan Megan works in law, which is a damn hard job - I'd say it's over 9 to 5 hours of working, but nonetheless, a YTer with a gf who follows a normal job

Niko and Sophie Gonna assume it's okay to use her name bc they don't seem too bothered about being overly private about their relationship. Tbh, she isn't a 9 to 5 girlie but she did just go to Uni and got her fine ass a whole-ass MASTERS DEGREE in fuckin science. As a woman in STEM, i support this lady with my whole heart.

Chip and Sabina No clue what in, but Sabina's also a graduate from Uni - not quite a 9 to 5 job which im struggling to find in YTer SO's, ill b honest... But nonetheless, still impressive and shows that she was pursuing education when she met n dated Chippo, too

So in conclusion, becoming a streamer would deffo probs boost your chances of getting w one of these mf's! But also do remember that a lot of famous ppl have stated that they'd hate to date another famous person (e.g. JJ, and u can j tell George would hate it too)

And pursue education if that's where u think your future is

Currently reading: My New Year’s resolution was to read Tolkein and so I’m reading the fellowship of the ring now (as an audiobook) and really enjoying it. “You do not allow for the inquisitiveness of friends” is a quote that ruined me btw. I’m also finishing up a book by Mary Beard called The Emperor of Rome which is about the role of the emperor in….well, Rome.

Currently watching: I’ve been watching many different things in a very hodgepodge way—making my third attempt to watch Girls lol, then watching Call the Midwife that’s airing in the US now, and trying to figure out if I should watch Baby Reindeer

Currently consuming: a pear 🍐 also, skincare; I’m so optimistic about my executive functioning being able to cope with these things

Currently craving: my job had a bunch of weekend events and there is currently a giant platter of cupcakes that fell and collapsed in on itself so we couldn’t serve them but!!! Now we have them!!!!
