House of Fingolfin | Being In An Arranged Marriage With Them
Tumblr media
A/N: This takes place in Valinor, in a no–darkening verse and arranged marriages are common traditions among the elves. By now, I'm considering this an AU within the Silm verse with all the ideas that’s been swimming in my mind after writing each headcanon (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
Warnings: feelings of neglect and loneliness, resentment, disputes, there is some comfort, angst because it's an arranged marriage
Arranged Marriage AU: Arafinweans ver.
Tumblr media
☆ . ࣪ ˖ ࿐ Fingolfin
Fingolfin strongly resents being told what to do. However, if complying benefits his family and upholds his royal status as an exemplar for princes, he will reluctantly follow through. In this context, he would have no significant objections to an arranged marriage.
He genuinely believes in his father’s good intentions and considers his mother’s agreement as final. Fingolfin would attentively attend the meeting, listening to the criteria and rationale for the arrangement while occasionally glancing at your disheartened expression.
Initially, he might struggle to comprehend why you don’t view the situation as a win–win, given that you’re marrying a prince and about to enjoy a luxurious lifestyle. The notion of being forced into this or having a lover only dawns on Fingolfin when his younger brother or a friend brings it up.
He’s determined to make the relationship work and hopes you won’t be confrontational or resist connecting with each other. Your reluctance to make things work is a source of frustration for him, but his pride prevents him from complaining to others.
But it is important to keep in mind that as much as he’s fighting you to make this work, he is respectful of your boundaries and personal space.
“I may have been slow to realise your reservations about the arrangement, but may I ask that you at least attempt not to distance yourself when all I want is for this to go smoothly? Yes, we will be married soon, but I’m not suggesting a romantic involvement, just a basic level of cooperation to ease the tension, please.”
He’s eager to make the arrangement a success because he sees it as essential for his role as a prince and a way to outshine his older brother. In Fingolfin’s perspective, this is a competition, albeit unfortunate for you.
You must assert that for this relationship to work, it shouldn’t be a platform for competition or jealousy, but rather something mutually beneficial and meaningful. You seek a partner you can rely on and trust, while he desires a confidant.
Despite the challenges, you enjoy a royal lifestyle with extravagant parties, balls, and dinners, access to the finest materials and food, a luxurious house designed to your liking, and any other desired indulgence. Fingolfin explicitly mentions that the house was created with your preferences in mind in hopes of ensuring some form of comfort is achieved.
An added benefit of the relationship is Fingolfin’s trust in your abilities as a mediator and leader. As a means to enhance communication, he gradually opens up and seeks your advice in the hopes of strengthening the arrangement.
Tumblr media
☆ . ࣪ ˖ ࿐ Fingon
Initially, when the news was broken to him, Fingon found it all rather amusing. He doubled over and laughed in his father’s face, thinking it was some kind of joke. It took a while for the seriousness of the situation to sink in, and he soon realised that this was no laughing matter. Fingon is a free–spirited individual who believes in choosing when to marry, not never for political reasons, as was the case in this instance.
When you’re in the room, Fingon prefers to keep his anger in check and maintain a pleasant demeanour, as he doesn’t want to frighten you. He’s well aware that you had no say in this decision, and his father is the only one he has an issue with.
The sorrowful look on his face when he meets your eyes is heart–wrenching, as both of you are victims of politics. Despite the circumstances, he does his best to shield you from the harsh reality and maintain the illusion of a simple friendship.
Among all his siblings and his father, Fingon is undoubtedly the most agreeable elf to be married to. Despite his inner turmoil and his father’s constant pressure to make the relationship work, he remains cheerful and amiable in your company, ensuring your comfort throughout the entire engagement.
However, in the early days of the marriage, he was the complete opposite of his usual self, largely due to your reserved nature. He was distant and mostly silent as he grappled with controlling his temper, trying to figure out how to make the relationship work.
If he’s going to be your husband against his will, he’s determined to be the best one you could hope for. Do you require your space? You got it. Do you not wish to see or speak to him? He’ll respect it. Do you want him to stop pretending that everything’s perfect? You’ll get that as well, although it may not be what you expect.
“You might be expecting me to shout, scream, or completely ignore you. I couldn’t bring myself to do any of that, though, as it’s not how my mother raised me to behave when I’m dissatisfied... I understand that you see through the façade I put up; it’s mostly to get my father off my back. But it’s not an act when I’m around you.”
Count on Fingon to make your forced marriage bearable and tolerable. He alleviates the typical anxiety associated with arranged marriages by filling it with unconditional love, support, appreciation, and trust. He never lets the burden fall on you and always stands by your side, ready to defend you.
One thing he won’t tolerate is anyone belittling your role as his spouse, whether it’s from your family or his. He respects your choices and ensures that you’re comfortable before engaging in anything personal.
Fingon never rushes you into anything uncomfortable and allows you to make decisions, trusting your judgment and revealing his vulnerability. He sees this as a hopeful approach to overcoming the arranged marriage label that hangs over your heads.
Tumblr media
☆ . ࣪ ˖ ࿐ Turgon
Even if it were his father delivering the news that an arranged marriage was necessary to uphold the family name, Turgon was on the verge of overturning a table and vanishing before his father could reveal your name. However, Turgon knew he wouldn’t get far before being compelled to return home and address the situation.
It was the gloomiest atmosphere in recent memory when he was in the room, glaring at your presence as you entered with your family. The whole ordeal made him feel nauseous, especially when he observed how supportive his mother was in the matter.
Turgon didn’t speak or acknowledge your existence. If you were residing in your preexisting home, you both slept in separate quarters. He even made an effort to become familiar with your schedule to ensure you didn’t cross paths because he wanted to avoid giving the impression of any interest in making things work.
It felt like living alone with a brooding spectre who constantly muttered under his breath as though he was casting a spell. He was quick to anger and often directed his frustration at everyone around him, not just his and your parents. Congratulations, you were arranged to someone who unjustly blamed you.
Like his cousins, you had to assert yourself and demand respect, forcing your voice above his constant grumbling.
“Listen, I’ll make this clear just once, so don’t make me repeat myself. Stop blaming me and direct your frustrations at my parents and yours. We’re in this together whether we like it or not—so accept it and put an end to the complaining, just like I did. We’re going to make this work—we don’t have to share a bed or be best friends, but we should find common ground and understanding. I won’t accept ‘no’ as an answer, as it’s proven to be pointless, so stop whining and work with me!”
You earned his respect because no one had the audacity to confront him like that without fearing his explosive anger. From that day on, there was a subtle change in the household routine, like not avoiding your schedules and sharing the same space (excluding the bedroom).
Any attempts at conversation were initiated by you, and you had to strain your ears to catch his mumbled responses. When it came to public appearances, he was as stiff as a board and communicated sparingly.
However, it was his instinct to defend you and his family if anyone made disrespectful comments about your situation. That was something for him and you to contemplate, not for others to meddle in, so someone would be put in their place. That night, you saw the most emotion from him apart from his temper.
An incident like that brought you both a step closer to displaying your emotions and feelings, particularly your protectiveness toward him. As simple as it may seem, he wanted to know about your day and if anyone insulted you when you were out. It was a step in the growth of your relationship.
Tumblr media
☆ . ࣪ ˖ ࿐ Argon
Argon is fucking bewildered and struggling to comprehend the situation because he’s still a young individual being informed of an arranged marriage he never wanted. He responds with profanity and loud protests until his father intervenes to calm him down.
He despises every moment of it, particularly when he recalls how his cousins and brothers were subjected to the same process. He can’t believe he’s in the same situation despite his strong desire to find love on his own. Even if you were present in the room, his anger blinds him to your concern.
For days to weeks, you two may not exchange words, with occasional glances and stares being the only form of communication. Even after the marriage, he only engages in minimal conversation, ensuring your well–being and comfort in the shared space, though his tone is often filled with bitterness.
Initially, your marriage feels like cohabitating with a mere housemate, as your interactions are limited to household chores. Meaningful conversations based on your interests are virtually non–existent. It would take significant time and effort before either of you musters the courage to address the awkward silence in the house, ideally during breakfast.
“May I speak? No, it’s not about breakfast; it’s about us. We’ve been living like roommates for months, hardly even acquaintances. All we do together is eat and do chores. I know you’re still upset about this arrangement—so am I—but I’d appreciate it if we could replace this white noise with something resembling friendship. We’re already living together, so we’re past the stage of being strangers.”
Argon is genuinely sorry to discover that you desire more meaningful interactions rather than distance, which he had assumed. Your first breakthrough occurs when you jest about his misinterpretation of your gestures, breaking the awkward silence with a touch of Argon’s playful nature.
Following in the footsteps of his eldest brother, he emulates his gestures in the hopes of fostering a deeper connection. Although his emotions make him eager and impulsive, he doesn’t want you to bear the blame for his dissatisfaction.
Eventually, a level of vulnerability emerges in your discussions, allowing both of you to overcome this significant turning point in your lives. More joy and laughter infuse the household as you both express your opinions, views on the situation, and expectations for the future. Given his youth and the wealth of advice he’s received on arranged marriages, he engages in meaningful conversations to ensure you share the same expectations.
He has no intention of subjecting you to the mistreatment that others might inflict on their spouses, placing trust in you and expecting the same in return. For the majority of your marriage, despite lingering awkwardness, you manage to build a friendship with someone who is open and respectful.

Feanor, Fingolfin and Finarfin as horses
Tumblr media
Requested by Anon
hopefully I made it in time and it's not considered to hectic to be fulfilled. congratulations on achieving 500 followers btw 🎉🎊🥳. we should go out an eat pizza!!
I'd like to request a continuation to the Silm horse AU that you were doing (I really enjoyed them). I noticed you spoke about the heads (feanor, fingolfin and finarfin) but didn't actually write for.them. so I was wondering if you'd be will to make a few headcanons like how you did it for the others with reader caring for them on the farm. Thanks btw
Warnings: mentions of horses being dramatic, Feanor being moody, reader not being a willing caregiver, mentions of horse passing, reader obviously having a favorite.
------------------------------
- You were one of the famed horseriders. You were praised for your talent in dressage and your beloved Finarfin, who was considered one of the most beautiful white horses in the world.
- You enjoyed what you were doing, but after traveling around the world on tours and winning competitions. You have decided to take a break with Finarfin and return to one of the horse stables, Tirion.
- It was a homely place where you had spent most of your childhood and met Finarfin when he was a foal.
- It was a fond memory. You were 14 or 15 years old at the time and wandered to one of the pastures, where you saw Finarfin for the first time, running around his mother and having the cutest whine.
- When he saw you, he ran up to you, and you did not know what it was, but the next thing you knew, you were in love and playing with him. It was like an invisible bond was born between you when you locked eyes, and you started nagging your parents to take you to Tirion so you could see him most of the time.
- Technically, you were breaking the rules since he was not yours, and your parents would have to pay a lot of money if they wanted to buy him, but when Manwe, Finarfin’s mother’s owner, caught you playing with Finarfin, he wasn’t angry at all. On the contrary, he had a feeling what you had been doing but couldn’t bring himself to separate you two since you two had an adorable bond.
- And for your passion for riding and love for Finarfin, Manwe struct you a little deal. He told you if you managed to train Finarfin on the saddle and win three competitions in your choice of horse riding, he would pass the legal ownership to you. Since Finarfin was just a little extra, he could do that for you.
- You were so excited that you started working tiredly to improve your riding skills and then started saddle training Finarfin when he was old enough. It was rough work to get him to wear the saddle, but you succeeded and then started learning dressage and competing in competitions.
- Due to your determination and hard work, you managed to win gold three times in a row, crushing your competition and fulfilling the end of your deal with Manwe.
- The man only laughed, admiring your determination, and then Finarfin was finally legally yours.
- It was such a happy day, and your family threw a party when they learned you actually managed to fulfill the deal and became a horse owner.
- You and Finarfin had been inseparable ever since.
- You experienced a lot of things together as you continued riding. You were there when he met the mare Earwen and became absolutely enamored with her. You were there when each of his kids was born and watched how doting he was toward them. It was adorable.
- You were certain Finarfin would be happy to come back to Tirion and be with his wife. You simply adored how sweet he was toward her. They were a real married horse couple.
- However, when you finally arrived in Tirion, two of your friends came to greet you. You caught up and shared some news, but then they asked if you could watch over their horses since they needed to go away for some time.
- You first refused since their horses were Feanor and Fingolfin. You tolerated the latter, but there was no way you could handle Feanor.
- Your friends begged you as they couldn't find anyone else to take the job. For some reason, Tirion was currently short on horse caregivers. When you heard that, you relented and agreed since you didn’t like leaving them in trouble.
- They nearly cried and hugged you in gratitude. They gave you the worksheets and instructions on handling their horses and then scurried off to god knows where.
- You could only hug Finarfin in despair and regret for accepting.
- So much for having a vacation.
Finarfin
- Finarfin, your sweet white stallion with a golden mane and a golden heart. He had never been a troublemaker for you. He's friendly with people, sweet toward other horses, and doesn't shy away from many things.
- He's one of the most perfect horses in the world—to you, he was perfect, and you do not care for others' opinions about it.
- And you treat him as such. You always make sure he eats well and has something to do so he doesn't get bored, and use warm water during bath times because even you don't like the feeling of cold water against your skin.
- The only troublesome thing about him is when you try to get some fly repellent on him. He doesn't like the smell, but unfortunately, he attracts a lot of flies and mosquitos to himself. You always ensure to give him a treat after that.
- Since he's specialized in dressage, you mostly do basic exercises together, but sometimes jump and ride through the woods to break a real sweat.
- He likes spending time in the pasture with Earwen, and you always take cute videos of them together.
- Sometimes, you two spend time together in the pasture, lying on the grass while you read a book and have petting sessions, where he enjoys when you give him a good scratch on the right spot.
- He has a peculiar relationship with his brothers. He’s very playful with Fingolfin and would follow him around sometimes. However, he tends to avoid Feanor. It was perhaps out of fear since Feanor was rather temperamental toward them.
- Finarfin would be your source of comfort whenever you feel down or stressed after dealing with his brothers, letting you hug him and rub your back in comfort.
- You might have hidden in his stall a couple of times to avoid his brother’s owners or just to avoid reality.
+100/10 Best horse. Your precious boy will always be the number one in your heart. You do not like the drama his brothers cause, but at least he’s there, so you manage to endure it all.
Fingolfin
- Fingolfin was a large black stallion with a diamond-shaped marking on his forehead. He's calm and a friendly horse, so you don't have problems with him. You would have been more than happy to look after him if Feanor was not added to the list.
- You usually let him run free in the riding field and the pasture to release the extra energy he has after being scooped up in his stall for so long. He sometimes plays with Finarfin, which you find cute, and Finarfin follows him around like a follower.
- But when it comes to Feanor, Fingolfin turns rather melodramatic, attempting to interact with the other stallion and failing to grasp the hint when the latter makes it painfully obvious that they don’t like him in the slightest.
- You don't know what it is, but you've had to keep them in separate pastures to ensure the idiot doesn't end up with a hoof to the face.
- You don’t know much about racehorses, but when your friend offered you to let you ride him once, you got curious and accepted. You wanted to know what it was like, and oh boy, you were stunned by the speed when you galloped together through the usual forest path.
- It was also terrifying, and Fingolfin still had energy when you were done, so you just let him run free in the riding field to let it out.
- You decided you would never try riding racehorses ever again. The speed was just too much for you.
- Luckily, Fingolfin was easy to brush and wash, but one time, you forgot to turn the water to a warmer temperature, and he freaked out when the cold water hit his coat. You were lucky to avoid getting hit by the hoof when he neighed and nearly kicked you.
- Apparently, he has a severe beef with cold water. The incident nearly gave you a heart attack, so you now remember to ensure the water is warm when it comes to bath times.
- He did feel guilty, so you got over it rather quickly.
- Fingolfin was pretty calm around his wife. He turns less dramatic even around Feanor, and you sometimes see him care for his mare.
- It was adorable, so you sometimes take a video of them together and send them to his owner, who would gush about it for a week.
10 /10 You grew to like him in a way. He wasn’t challenging, but you would appreciate it if he would finally get it in his head that Feanor did not want to be his friend or even look at him.
Feanor
- Feanor was a black stallion with a peculiar star-shaped marking on his forehead. He's a relatively very gorgeous horse, but in personality, he is proud, and you are terrified of him.
- He doesn't get along with his brothers, most likely because they came from a different mother. You heard that his mother tragically passed away when he was born, which is sad and likely the reason he refused another mare as his mother. He had to be fed with formulas and personally cared for by people until he reached adolescence and didn't require as much care anymore.
- He was a famous racehorse and considered one of the fastest horses in the world. He only tolerates your friend, his owner, so you prefer just brushing him, feeding him, and letting him run freely in the pasture and field to release his energy.
- He doesn't show much attitude, except when you brush him in the wrong spot or give him the wrong amount of food.
- He refuses to interact with his brothers, chases Fingolfin away, and sometimes seeks a fight. You made sure to never put him in the same pasture as Finarfin. You're not letting that beast hurt your precious boy.
- Your friend told you that he's very energetic and needs a lot of exercise, but you refuse to ride him or do anything else, so the best thing you can do is let him run free in the field or have others exercise him.
- He's surprisingly calmer around a red-colored mare named Nerdanel. He’s pretty sweet toward her and even tolerates other horses when she’s around him.
- It was pretty surprising because he’s such a snob toward others. You didn’t mind it, but you never thought he and both of his brothers were such gentlemen toward their ladies.
- You had heard the two were close and had seven foals together. It wasn’t even intended to make that many; the two just liked each other that much. Nerdanel’s owner wanted to keep them separate after her sixth birth, which ended up having twins. They wouldn't have been against making more foals, but they started to get concerned over Nerdanel’s health and the potential consequences if the two were allowed to mingle more.
- But, they were allowed to be near each other. They just needed a fence in between with only certain exceptions being in the same pasture under supervision.
- 9 / 10 You don't like him much. He causes you stress when he interacts with other horses with that pissy mood of his. However, he was not as bad as you thought. He at least makes caring for him easy. You do want to know how your friend manages him.

One thing that's just been keeping me up for a week straight is that, while we tend to associate Elrond as the one incredibly skilled in healing - rightfully so - there is also that "little" titbit of how "the hands of a King [of Gondor] are the hands of a healer," which, infamously, is the line of Elrond's brother.
Which leaves just enough room to speculate that they may have both had a talent in healing, and in turn begs the question of just which part of their ancestry they got it from.
And the options there are all wild in their own right - on the one hand, there is Elwing's side which would make some sense due to Lúthien/Melian, but then in at least one version of the tale at the end of the Fall of Gondolin, it's said that Elwing and her people believed that the 'power of healing in their camp' came from the Silmaril if I remember correctly. Which implies that it's not a skill their line has been known to have an extraordinary talent in.
The alternative option is, of course, Eärendil. Now that means it comes either from Tuor, or it means Idril, which means through Turgon/the House of Fingolfin. And if I think about that too much I might just go insane because oh man the implications.
But also all the ancestral musings aside, just the idea that the line of Gondor's Kings is carrying forth Elros' own talent in healing as this permanent relic, reminder, and tangible leftover for Elrond, of something they shared and learned together? just. man

My Headcanon Crafts for Finwe and his Children
Finwe: a woodcarver, he likes really intricate geometric patterns. Carved most of the furniture in his house. Occasionally experiments with larger statue work. One of his favorites is a large bear; which he made for Orome's halls. He also carved cribs for each of his kids.
Feanor: a smith. One of the things that makes him special is that he's one of a few elvish smiths who can actually make gemstones. For all that later generations will remember him for his swords and Silmarils, most of his work was in fine jewelry and more modest Feanorian gemstone lamps.
Findis: a writer, and a very good one, but most of her work remains unpublished. She can be just as possessive of her secrets as Feanor, and for elves, words absolutely have power. There's a mountain of paper in her home, and she doesn't really know what to do with it.
Fingolfin: a glass worker, who specializes in stained-glass windows. The things he creates are beautiful, especially with the light filtering through them, but they're also fragile. Some of his favorite works are Feanorian lamp gemstones he surrounded with a mosaic of colored glass. (They're some of Feanor's favorites too, but both of them would rather die than admit it)
Lalwen: a cartographer. She traveled almost every inch of Beleriand, and her maps are still some of the best remnants of the sunken continent in the Third Age. Always drew sea monsters on her maps as a matter of principle.
Finarfin: a baker. It's very nontraditional for a Noldor craft– it's more typical of the Vanyar, but he insists that food can be art as much as anything else. He measures everything out by feel, and it tastes great every time. His kids all have fond memories of baking crepes with him.
Headcanon Crafts for the House of Feanor, the House of Fingolfin, the House of Finarfin, and the rest of the House of Finwe.

modern au fëanor and fingolfin having absolutely WILD arguments with one another through the medium of facebook is something that is so important to me, personally. bonus points if their arguments are posted publicly, so that everyone can see them arguing about who scratched their dad's car as if they're defending themselves in an actual courtroom!

"Mano po."
Pagmamano (Tagalog) - "honouring-gesture;" a sign of respect towards elders
A continuation of sorts, of this other drawing I made of the Feänorians, which was roughly inspired by Filipino culture. I originally planned on completing this for @nolofinweanweek, specifically the first prompt about how Fingolfin and Feänor's families got along, but life got in the way and I didn't finish it in time. More background/my long rambles under the cut:
Pagmamano - touching the back of an elder's hand on one's forehead - is not restricted to family, but it's usually done in the context of elder family members. I have many memories of attending family reunions and being told to follow the other kids to "mano po" a grandfather, aunt, or uncle. While Elves don't have elderly relatives, per se, I thought this image was too fun not to draw. Also, I love envisioning Feänor as that cool uncle who gives the most amazing gifts but like, the kids are intimidated by him, so they have to be told (and supervised) by their parents to line up and greet him properly. Fingolfin's just standing there making sure his kids all greet their uncle. (Maedhros, presumably having already finished his greetings, is sidetracking Fingon.)
All this to say, I think that these guys didn't have the perfect relationship. But. You can't convince me Finwë didn't get the whole family together from time to time on some sort of family reunion camping trip. And Feänor just has to begrudgingly tolerate it because he can't say no to his dad. While the kids, obviously, have a great time.

I think since Tolkien named the first high king of the Noldor "hair-guy", instead of the next heir inheriting the title, there should be a "Who has the best hair?" contest everytime a high king dies to decide the succession.

You know, here's a small rant from me: I hate it when Celebrimbor is shown to be a "softie-boy" or a "naïve child" or just... someone condescending and stupid. Like, yeah I'm guilty of it too (who isn't?) but it just makes me wonder why he's presented as that in fics anywhere.
I read this fic on AO3? Celebrimbor is a stupid duck. Or he's just very naïve and easy to prank. I read another fic? Celebrimbor is a whiny baby who can't stand up for himself. I read another one? He's a man-child.
Look, I get why he's presented in that way, but can we not do that? Especially considering the things this boy has gone through which really wouldn't make him a "child-like" person, but more of a mature adult who has experienced things no one should ever experience.
Before and during the First Age, he's experienced so much:
Nerdanel and Feanor falling out -- that basically messed up entire Aman back then, but mainly their kids, so imagine how Curufin would have reacted to that.
The feud between Feanor and Fingolfin and Finarfin
The time when Feanor threatened Fingolfin
The time when the Two Trees were destroyed
The time when Melkor killed his great-grandfather Finwe.
Feanor going Mad™
The uprising of the Noldor
The First Kinslaying
His grandfather going feral and his father and uncles swearing an oath on a literal suicide-mission
One of his youngest uncles getting burned and basically died (or lived, depends on which version you follow)
A time of literal darkness. Like, no light at all. It really messed up the psyche of so many people.
Feanor abandoning his brother on the shores of Valinor -- that would mess up anyone really.
A literal battle. Like, more blood is being shed -- not only of elves, but of other creatures Tyelpe has probably never seen or heard of before.
His grandfather being so consumed by his fire and spontaneously combusting. That too, he either saw or heard of Feanor literally bursting into flames -- that is pretty traumatising.
The crossing of the Helcaraxe -- no seriously, that would mess anyone up knowing that people they love are literally walking on glaciers and over deathly waters with a 50% chance of survival.
Maedhros being crowned King of the Noldor, and an unspoken fact that there is more than one king of the Noldor -- the political implications here...
The abduction of Maedhros. Need this be explained further?
His uncles and father being concerningly close to starting a whole world-war
The rising of the Sun and the moon (like, what are those big spheres in the sky? Are they something from Melkor? Are they a sign of the End™? What is it?)
The arrival of Fingolfin's group, with more dead and furious people.
The mental health of everyone deteriorating. No, I won't explain because this era was filled with bad times.
No one knowing what to do now, since Maglor was naturally crowned the Regent King of the Noldor, and he has his own problems.
After 34 years of wondering what on earth has happened to Maedhros, he returns scarred with no right hand, and presumed torture marks.
Everyone literally holding their breaths for what will happen next.
Maedhros surrendering his crown to Fingolfin. That would hurt bad like a blow.
Literally only a few years of peace filled with tension.
Fingolfin decides to kick Melkor's arse and dies.
The Nirnaeth Arnoediad.
The Second Kinslaying.
The Fall of Gondolin
Making the decision of abandoning his father and uncles, going on his own separate path.
The death of so many of his family members and father and uncles. That is messed up. The amount of psychological trauma he's already been through...
Like, imagine his guilt of not being there with his father, imagine how much he second-guessed his actions...
The Third Kinslaying. The deaths of more elves, his uncle (or uncles), and really, just more death.
The crown of the Noldor being passed on so many times until it reached Gil-Galad. Imagine the humiliation and just the shock of the realisation of the number of people who have been crowned within a span of a few centuries.
The kidnapping of Elrond and Elros. While it probably wouldn't harm Tyelpe's psychological health, it must have been pretty messed up to find out that your two remaining uncles have committed a few more war crimes.
The War of the Wrath. Now, while it was mainly against Men, there is no doubt that some elves have been killed due to the war (given Gil-Galad's camps etc), so imagine him getting into some stray fights with the orcs or those Men who follow Melkor.
The Fourth Kinslaying. No need to further elaborate.
The death of Maedhros, and Maglor becoming a cryptid. Who wouldn't that mess up?
Surviving the First Age. Like, give this Tyelpe the recognition he truly deserves. Give him a few rings and trophies for enduring so long and he still hasn't gone down to insanity. That too, all this happened within the span of like, 600 years.
The Second Age:
Beleriand is under the sea
His "cousins" (Elrond and Elros) going their separate ways
The death of Elros (I think this is pretty self-explanatory, given the numerous HCs on the twins and Celebrimbor)
No one has any idea what has happened to Maglor. Is he alive? Is he dead? Who knows.
Rumours of a sinister evil lurking in the shadows and really, some tensions are visibly arising.
He finds this very powerful and alluring stranger who knows quite a bit about the art of smithing. They collaborate despite warnings from Galadriel, Gil-Galad, Elrond and a few others.
After giving thought to make powerful rings, Annatar watches over as Celebrimbor makes the rings for Men and Dwarves.
Newsflash: Annatar wants the rings, and he tainted them.
Celebrimbor makes the 3 Elven Rings in secret so Annatar can't get to them, but he gets kidnapped and tortured.
Like, really badly tortured. Annatar wants those 3 rings.
Celebrimbor eventually is killed, and is impaled on a spear, then given to Gil-Galad's camp after years of torture.
He went straight to his family. Can't tell if this will add to his trauma, but still.
While he didn't survive the Second Age, this boy went through so much pain, and... really, I feel like he doesn't get much of the appreciation he deserves.
Thank you for coming to my little rant as to why we need more fics that paint Celebrimbor as someone who isn't a stupid and naïve child, but more of a wiser version of Feanor and Curufin. He is not a tantrummy baby, for Ilúvatar's sake!

Anairë hates the story of Fingolfin’s duel with Melkor.
She’s heard it many times; reborn and returned Elves tell it to her, especially former followers of Fingolfin’s, to comfort her. See how bold your husband was, they mean to say, how fierce, how noble, how courageous in the face of danger. A hero, a martyr, a burning symbol of the fighting spirit of Middle-earth. But Anairë heard that story the first time and she knew Fingolfin never would have done such a thing but in the utmost despair and agony. He would not have done it but because he meant to die. And so she hates this story because she doesn’t have to speak to Fingolfin to know how much pain he must have been in to make such a choice.

House of Fingolfin | Getting Into a Fight For Their S/O
Tumblr media
A/N: Finally decided to continue more headcanons for the other elves.
Tumblr media
˖ ࣪ . ࿐♡˚. Fingolfin
He’s proper and never one for engaging in any physical altercations even if the situation escalated. Fingolfin is someone who would allow his men to dispose of the individual who dared to step to his level.
However, when the unknown situation arises and the need to become violent is necessary, I’m not sure who’s the one to put a leash on this terror of an elf, but it’s definitely more than five guards to hold him back from damaging the elf who spat absurdities at his family or you.
He’s made up of pure strength so brute force he required to drag him away from lunging at the ellon. Your appearance would assist in diluting his temper, drawing his focus to you and not the pulp of an elf lying on the floor.
Fingolfin would have landed hits to the elf, so his knuckles would be bruised, this you would nurse back to health while silently brooding and muttering under his breath at the speed of light.
You don’t pick up on anything he’s cursing on and on about, but you know it’s based on the situation. Just give him some kisses on his face and lead him far away to blow some steam off.
Take him for a long walk away from the kingdom and have him kick some rocks like a child. He’ll surely calm down after a week. “Have you calmed down yet?” “I’ve always been calm,” he says as his eye twitches.
Tumblr media
˖ ࣪ . ࿐♡˚. Fingon
Can appear impulsive when he isn’t thinking right, but like his father, Fingon’s a composed individual and refuses to throw the first fist for something that can be solved otherwise. His solution is to walk away or laugh it off, which probably provokes the other person to take insulting jabs at those precious to him.
It’s gonna take a lot to make him lunge at the individual, preferably, the latter being the one to throw the first hit leaving him with no choice but to defend himself. In that moment, you can bet all his frustration would come pouring out.
The entire scene is unusual, watching Fingon engage in a physical altercation with a random elf which leads to everyone knowing it’s something serious and rushing to pull him away. It’ll take just Maedhros or Turgon to tug Fingon off the battered ellon.
To you, the scene is horrifying after watching a gentle–natured elf engaged in a fight. You know he’s not thinking straight with fury in his mind, so it’s for you to step in and dissolve his temper with soothing words and touches to his face. His siblings would stand guard, unsure of whether he’d break away.
For starters, he’s ashamed that you witnessed him so unhinged and would rather disappear for days into weeks before confronting you. It’s for you to ensure him that you don’t hate him for it. You have to hold him down and tend to his wounds while listening to his endless apologies.
Make him feel better with lots of cuddles and spending time with him away from everyone. “Come for some love, Finno,” you say as he wastes no time in running over to snuggle into your arms.
Tumblr media
˖ ࣪ . ࿐♡˚. Turgon
Not the last person anyone would suspect to throw a fist, but the first person due to his cold temperament and judgemental persona. His temper is unmatched and will not hesitate to connect his fist with someone disrespecting him and his family.
I don’t believe anyone will survive his punches but let’s pretend this person does to receive a few more to create a brawl and you can witness Turgon becoming absolutely unhinged. It is quite easy to rile him up into becoming physically involved, yes, he would prefer to walk away but not when the disrespect is unspeakable.
Maybe his father has to pull him off or his brothers and cousins all together because like his father, he has the strength to match his stature. Turgon is a brute force of nature, so kudos to whoever is on the receiving end. However, what makes his attack dangerous is his stealth.
No one expects him to openly throw a hit because one minute he’s laughing and the next he’s on the floor beating someone up. Like?? It’s not a pleasant sight for you to witness though you’re aware of his sizzling temper and his bitter tongue. Plus, he probably got into fights as a child so it’s natural.
The only time you can approach him is when he’s already dragged off and in the healing wing being persecuted by his father (if he’s around). Your appearance would be the ice he needs to completely dissolve. He isn’t going to forget (this man holds grudges), but he’ll follow you as long as it’s far away from the altercation.
Tumblr media
Take him on a random spur-of-the-moment holiday and pamper him like a baby. Of course, you will have to prepare yourself for hearing him complain about the incident. Every. Single. Day. “Are you finished Káno?” “...No.”
˖ ࣪ . ࿐♡˚. Argon
It physically pains me to imagine this beanstalk engaging in a physical altercation with someone, however, he is described as impudent, so there you have it. Argon will throw around his fist like his older brother to beat some fool to a pulp for insulting his friends and family, and you.
He doesn’t want to hear a reason for why he shouldn’t do what he did, all he knows is that the elf said disrespectful comments and deserved to be handled with extra care. There’s no stopping Argon when he starts, given his hunk of a structure which has muscles to accompany his frame.
Definitely get the family to separate him from the perpetrator because he isn’t budging from his spot. They can pry him off and he’d slip away to finish what he started because he’s fighting them to let him go. You got to stand between him and the bruised ellon on the floor to catch his attention.
Talk sweetly to him, call his name—slip in a nickname—to soothe his unhinged nature. Reach for his hands and tug him away from the scene, telling him everything will be alright, and his family will take care of the rest.
Spend the time cleaning his wounds and littering kisses to his bruises. Use this moment to incorporate a ton of affection; maybe every time he feels angry, give him a kiss and a hug. Don’t think you’re escaping his grasp once he becomes aware of the affections you’re bequeathing.
Tumblr media
Like many others, shame becomes him, and he’ll endlessly apologise for the manner in which you saw him behaving, promising to never act impulsively like that again without gauging the situation firsthand.
“It’s alright, Káno. You were simply being my hero, defending me from those naysayers. Now come for some kisses.”

Hair darker than the night
Tumblr media
(Excuse the bad gif. I coulnd’t find anything better. This might be a bit short, but i hope you like it,)
Requested by anonymous
Warnings;none
-------------------------------------------------------------------
You were one of the maiars of Varda. You had a great love for the stars and the music, and you adored serving your lady with your close friend Ilmare.
Lately, you have started attracting the attention of some elves, or your hair has.
You had a beautiful long lock of dark hair. It was dark but captured light which made it look like you had a starry sky in your hair.
You took great pride over your hair, so you felt flattered some elves found beauty in it when most would prefer white and bright colors. ¨
Feanor
-The Noldor prince found great beauty in your dark hair when his eyes fell upon you.
-It was beautifully dark and peculiarly captured light that it looked like there were distant stars in your locks. It was even beautiful when it was pitch black.
-Beautifull things enthrall him, so he made the mistake of touching your hair without your permission.
-You faced him, brushed his hand away, and told him it was not polite to touch someone without their acknowledgment.
-Feanor would apologize but then tell how beautiful your hair was, and new inspiration had grazed his mind.
-He then dared to request strings of hair from your locks.
-You laughed, calling him a peculiar elf boy, and asked why you should abide by such a request.
-You're not going to give anything without receiving something in return, so he has to impress you first.
-He accepted, taking it as a challenge. You were curious, so you gave him one string of your hair, eager to see what he would make out of it.
-The little prince returned after some time and presented you with a beautiful piece of jewelry.
-A silver necklace with beautiful black stones that manage to reflect the shimmers of the stars.
-Feanor acquired a rare stone called obsidian and worked hard to capture the beauty of the night in it, inspired by your hair.
-It was unusual to use dark-colored stones in jewelry, but Feanor managed to capture the beauty in them, so you were charmed by the piece.
-He gave it to you as a gift of gratitude for lending the piece of hair and inspiring him even more.
-It became one of your favorite jewelry, and you proudly wore it on special occasions, which makes Feanor proud of himself.
Celebrimbor
-Like his proud grandfather, the young elf boy found beauty in your dark hair.
-Many would prefer the bright and white colors of the night, but there was something in the dark that was very hypnotic to him.
-He followed his grandfather's example but didn't ask for strings of hair. He borrowed some obsidian stones and created a tiny bracelet he thought you might like.
-He didn't know how to capture light into the stones, so they looked like black pearls.
-He was scared and shy to approach you because he thought you might not like it.
-However, you were charmed by the little elf boy child and loved the little gift. You had a thing for unusual things, so you adored the black pearled bracelets and started wearing them daily.
-Celebrimbor was very happy.
-But since he gave you such a lovely gift, you couldn't help but wish to give him something back in return, so you gave him rare stones of starlight from lord Irmo's garden, and the little boy was just fascinated with them.
Fingolfin
-At first, Fingolfin meant to stop Feanor from doing anything foolish like he once did with Finarfin's daughter when he asked for strands of her hair.
-Angering a maiar would have been worse than angering his prideful niece.
-He was glad nothing drastic happened and was surprised you accepted Feanor's request until he heard you challenged Feanor to impress you.
-He was hypnotized by your beauty and held respect when you turned your eyes upon him.
-You were intimidating, for you stood taller than him and Feanor, and the darkness of your hair, truly made you a black beauty.
-You were intrigued by the second son of Finwe and found amusement when conversing with him.
-It was easy to fluster him by describing how his dark hair was also beautiful, and his eyes captured the light of stars.
-It was a pity Feanor took no inspiration from him.
Galadriel
-You had a few pleasantries meeting the young daughter of prince Finarfin.
-She was indeed beautiful and bright like her people claimed so.
-You were fascinated by her, especially when you knew about the funny incident when Feanor requested strings from her hair, and she outright refused him.
-You were opposites which made you even more interested in her. She was bright as a day while you were dark as the night.
-You both held equal respect for each other, and conversing with her was pleasant.
-She did judge you for accepting Feanor's request for your hair but did find the piece of jewelry he made beautiful in its way.
-You did like Feanor's little gift, but your favorite was the bracelet his grandson made for you, and Galadriel agreed.

My latest headcanon:
Fëanor's spirit burned blue when he was born, the purest and hottest of fires.
But the colour changed to a polluted red in his later years, after his marring by Melkor.

💛 nolofinwean familial relationships
thank you nonnie for such an intriguing ask! unusual headcanons for the nolofinwëans, in no particular order:
aredhel is as capable an architect and engineer and city-builder as turgon, and was involved in raising up gondolin from the beginning, back when it was only something they plotted about in privacy.
she goes not need any divine vision to know a secret city is the right option. her acts of political defiance regarding orders from barad eithel are ongoing, determined and very deliberate.
idril's silver legs rust, in sirion. the salt and the damp get to them. her movements grows more stilted, mechanical. wooden floors and ship decks bends when she walks on it. tuor cleans them very carefully every night, but they do rust at a quickening pace.
fingon and argon got along better than any other sibling combination in the family.
turgon wears mourning clothes and keeps mourning rituals for elenwe all his life.
nolofinwë seriously considered getting remarried during his kingship. letters of diplomatic inquiry were drafted, but never sent, regarding thingol's only daughter.
small brown birds kept alighting in his windowsill as he wrote. windows broke; mirrors shattered; winds rose, whipping long, thin boughs against the thick walls of his fortress. they left deep cracks, and sap-red scars on the high walls. he took the hint, but never lost the suspicion that this alliance alone might have saved his people.
fingon prays to manwë a great deal during the crossing of the helcaraxë. not for mercy, as such, or guidance. it's testimonial, in a sense. an on-going conversation in confessions. he is by far the most spiritually minded in the family.
his belief in estel is based on dogma, his own theological studies, trust and the certainty that a little of the marred world will be saved, to some degree. his great battle is a prayer, in its way, as well as a dare: he believes in victory wholeheartedly, because he must, but he also knows victory against morgoth will happen, be it his or not.
the only thing he can do, the only good and great thing, is to attempt it while he has the power to do it, and leave the rest to the gods. he is very humble, and very at peace with the possibility of getting his people killed in what might be a failure.
turgon does not pray. he dies in gondolin to stay far from the sea, and nearness to the authority of the valar.
fingolfin's last word - his choked-out war-cry - was his father's name.
