Danny and Damian are twins.
Danny does not excel at majority of training. He does excel at stealth. One day he overhears a discussion regarding how there could only be one heir.
He knows he can’t defeat Damian. He also just doesn’t want to. They are by no means close, but it’s still his twin. So right there and then he plots.
Danny fakes his own death. Lighting a fire “accidentally” to “dispose” of his corpse. No risk of the pits bringing him back.
This leads to him in amity park. The Fentons were strange enough to take him in. A son story about how his family wants him dead. Jazz had always wanted a little brother.
Over time Danny realizes just how toxic the league was. Jazz helped a lot. He feels guilty about leaving Damian behind. And for having Damian “kill” him. Sneaking into the league is out of the question so he stews in guilt. Then the accident happens. 5 years later.
So he does go back. Damian isn’t there.
He ends up at a gala with Vlad or sam.
He sees Damian. Danny shoots his shot. Just popping up by him. Apologizing for using him to fake his own death and asking if he managed to realize how bad the league was.
All while dodging Damian’s attacks.

a new (returning) character being added to 9-1-1's roster means that at some point, buck has to scream tommy's name in terror. he just has to. like. can you imagine how much differently that would hit? we saw the members of the 118 give buck the grieving spouse treatment when they all thought eddie was dead in a well. but if buck's boyfriend—as in, his actual, honest to god, officially recognized boyfriend—was in literal danger somewhere? jesus. i just got chills. i need it like oxygen.
#Eddie trying to hold Buck back from putting himself in danger and like. Of course Eddie is terrified too.#Tommy went from 0 to Best Friend status (not like Buck. Never like Buck) so quickly it was almost dizzying#but he *knows* what this means for Buck. Knows what Tommy means *to* Buck and he can feel the terror emanating from him. Can feel his blunt#nails almost drawing blood as he claws at Eddie's skin probably not even aware that he's doing it.#And they fall backwards—Eddie's arms still firmly around him—and Bobby is shouting nonsense reassurance at both of them before he and Chim#go back to save/find Tommy and Eddie's just chanting in Buck's ear ''it's okay everything is going to be okay'' and at some point Buck just#stops fighting and slumps back against him. His entire body shakes and he's just like ''it's Tommy Eddie. I can't lose him. I can't I won't#survive it'' and Eddie's eyes sting with tears but he's just like ''I know I know. Danny always knew there was something wrong with him even before the accident.
He had memories that he couldn't place. Fuzzy scattered ones of him in middle and high school even when he was still taking elementary classes. As a kid he, of course, thought he had superpowers or was receiving psychic visions of the future.
It wasn't until the after the accident that he knew the truth. More specifically, it was when he met Dani.
Memories of being surrounded by people in white coats surfaced in the days following. They would conduct "tests" in which Danny would be forced to solve a puzzle or figure out the answer to something before the timer went off. It always ended the same. He always failed. It wasn't because he was stupid or anything, it was because he was a tiny child who was scared and wanted his mommy and daddy, even if he didn't even know what they would look like.
So all he would do was wail as the scientists stewed in thier frustration. Thier artificial "Robin" was labeled a failure.
Clockwork smiled as the door to the Clocktower slammed open. "Right on time."
"You stole me!" Phantom accused, tears in his eyes, "You took me from my original dimension!"
Clockwork nodded, "Yes."
"Why?!"
In lieu of an answer the time god opened a portal, "And now its time for you to leave."
Phantom snarled, fighting against the sudden suction pulling him into the portal, "This isn't over!" He managed to bite out just before he was completely pulled in.
"I know."

The next thing Danny knows is that he is floating high in the sky of a city he knew instinctually was Gotham. The memories from his...original? His template? Were now fully available to him and told him with absolute clarity that he should not stay shining up in the Gotham sky at night unless he wanted a visit from the big bad bat.
He didn't want to test his luck in case he wasn't a fan of clones. Especially since he was a clone of his son.
Thus begins Danny's DC world tour as he searches to the truth behind his creation and attempts in vain to return home all while trying and failing to dodge all the people who are familiar with his template.
(Danny can be a clone of any of the Robins and you can play with the ages all you like thanks to time travel and fanfiction)

i loved the part of the book where piranesi resolves to take better care of himself while he's rediscovering his own history. he just has so much compassion for himself! the journal upsets him so he takes a week off and does things he enjoys and then he settles into a safe place when he wants to tackle the subject again. and he doesn't believe The Other when he's told about his amnesia! he values his own insights and his own knowledge of the House even when fucking ketterley is actively trying to undermine his sense of self. piranesi's gentle treatment of himself and the person he used to be is genuinely so moving.
#piranesi#i could go on about his recounting of the times he let himself go hungry and made stupid decisions#but there's nothing in the way of self-recrimination#he just says:#i didn't know then what i know know and i would do things differently#he stands up for himself when he's talking to raphael too even though he likes her#obvs he's got oodles of compassion for other people too#he takes care of the dead. he gives nesting material to the albatrosses. he leaves the herring gulls alone before retrieving the paper#he enters the scary room for The Other. he warns sixteen about the flood. he blesses the prophet#(who does not fucking deserve it)#he writes directions to the statue#even when he comes back he goes and finds poor james ritter#but it's the self compassion that touches me the most
