i'm at 122 right now (wahoo!)

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

794,634 (i am on a mission to 1 million in the next couple of years)

3. What fandoms do you write for?

well i've been around many a fandom block, but i'd say for current brainrot:

supergirl (mostly supercorp, but i have a smattering of rare pairs because women, amirite?)

swan queen

bumbleby (i also still have so many rosebird dreams i'll get there someday)

makayuro (with a smattering of rare pairs also because women, amirite?)

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

well unsurprisingly, ever since plopping down on supercorp fandom, the numbers have been from there. but shoutout to my victorious fic from 2012 holding strong lol

evergreen, closest i get, not for nothing, you've got mail, and one way or another

5. Do you respond to comments?

yes yes absolutely!! sometimes i am late and sometimes i just leave it in there so i can have it stay unread but anyway i try to respond and i appreciate everyone who sends them to me. i have historically been a oneshot writer so it's been nice also to get comments on wips!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

oh shoot angstiest ending?? well i think i would say my supercorptober ficlet about memory loss of sorts might tick that (it ends kinda idk open but not bad, i will say)

but then there's also this one old soccer RPF i wrote that's more, idk, poetry than any real fic about one of them leaving lmao

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

the happiest ending? i mean all of them, i reckon. if they end up together or have a promise of together then they count lmao

8. Do you get hate on fics?

uhhh none that i've seen? i mean if it's in the comments, no? but if it's elsewhere, then also no? i have been fortunate in that way

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

OMG YES I AM FINALLY IN MY SMUT ERA

uh i reckon comedy smut for now (read DickFic here) but the day is young and my doc is empty so who's to say

but i have dreams for some sad smut because i'd like to develop the range LMAO

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

surprisingly, i do not. what i instead do is just little spin through five fandoms at any given time and just confuse myself that way

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

unfortunately yes. twice now. once was for my victorious fic that was used for a 5th harmony RPF lmaooo

and then on thanksgiving weekend, the first chapter of Crepe AU was posted by an anonymous for a The Wilds ship (but my friends rallied to get it taken down so i didn't have to send a takedown form to ao3 while i was traveling home)

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

nope but that would be totally rad

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

i love fic writing group work so yes! i have a series of sad angsty women that i have with my best friend in my revue starlight fandom, and then, of course, @sideguitars and i have 'humans in the storeroom' (that reminds me it's my turn to write the next part smh)

i also like jumping into writing sprints or writing exercises with folks (like a round robin)

14. What's your all time favorite ship?

let's not do this, i shan't pick amongst my children

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

so far all my wips are things i wanna finish and will do my best to finish. i have a couple of retired wips that will just sit in my ao3 forever and i have made peace with them, though.

16. What are your writing strengths?

i wanna say characterization, pacing, emotional resonance, and a simple and natural writing style maybe

action?? plot??? proper AUs lmao

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

i do not because i find i butcher it and also then i cringe lmao

20. Favorite fic you've written?

sorry no can do i love them all because i wrote them and there are so many things i enjoy about them. but i will say that the writing events circuit i've done this past year (supercorp bigbang, bumbleby big bang, and swan queen winter solstice) are born out of a lot of labor of love and i'm really proud of the work i've done for them.

and not for a writing event, but i am also extremely proud of re:live for mayakuro fandom-- that one makes me think that if i never wrote for that fandom again, that that's a really good fic to end on)

8. google docs, microsoft word, or other?

I use both google docs and scrivener! I tend to use google docs more often than not, but I started using scrivener with my Demon Slayer fic and have started using it a lot more. Now I like to use google docs for getting my thoughts out for different fics (including the demon slayer ones) and then copy+paste into scrivener once I have access to my computer (since I only have it on my laptop).

10. alternate universes, canon divergence, or in-canon?

All of the above! I tend to focus on canon divergent and AU fics though as I almost always write with OCs and like to go for Everybody Lives / Nobody Dies or similar AUs for funsies and to see what other sorts of character growth and development can happen to a character that survives a deadly encounter. And then most of my AUs are sometimes just very self-indulgent and silly (like the modern AU for Demon Slayer that I'm currently working on).

13. past tense or present tense?

I'm actually really bad about mixing my tenses up sometimes, but I usually prefer and do my best to write in past tense! I find it easier most of the time.

18. a detail you’re really proud of putting in one of your fics

Ornamentation! I like to point out specifics in my OCs or how I headcanon specific characters to accessorize themselves as I think those little details can really show a lot about a character. For instance, Shiori, one of my Demon Slayer OCs, tends to wear a lot of hairpins. To those that don't know them, it's just an accessory, but to those who do know them, they're aware that the hairpins all contain wisteria poison in order to help them fend off demons.

21. laptop, notebook, tablet, or computer?

Laptop preferably (especially for scrivener), but I also use my phone (especially when my brain will not let me use the laptop) & now my tablet for writing when I'm at work / away from home. I do love handwriting though & have a habit of starting a lot of my fics within notebooks before moving them over to google docs / scrivener.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

45! Forty-five! Mind you, it's been only a year since I came back to the gig lol

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

A very humble 260, 213 amount of words I've offered y'all 🤲🏼

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Again, I have to be in the right mindset (aka brainrot) to write for something, and The Last Of Us already got that space occupied for now 🫡

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

It is late now, I'm a bit tired; the sky is irritated by stars. (And I love you, I love you, I love you.) — first installment in my Jackson series, Tess lives au, and a sick fic all in one, TLOU.

hoax — that one rapple fic about them coming to term with non expressed feelings, EAH.

it is a serious thing just to be alive on this fresh morning in this broken world — the second installment in my Jackson series, 10k words being a Tess’s character study, TLOU.

I was lost within the darkness (until I found you) — family prompts fic collection, TLOU.

two slow dancers (last ones out) — ficlet collection centered around Joel and Tess with a variety of ratings, genres, and universes; aka my dumping ground, mind the warning. TLOU.

5. Do you respond to comments?

Always do and always will. They’re precious and important 🥹

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Whumptober is the outright answer. However, any of my canon compliant fic (joel misses his apocalypse wife) can fill that spot. Some of the ones in the ficlet collection are pretty tragic and grim, so angst is adjacent to it.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Those would be the ones where I'm delusional correct and Tess is alive and thriving 🫡

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I rarely get the normal type, so no. Luckily, no one is hating on my fics and if they do, I'm not aware 😝

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Uhhhhh yes, actually embarrassing the amount of pwp that has been posted bc I don't have self-control 🧍🏽‍♀️The kind ranges from very sad poetic introspective work to reallyyyy kinky nasty stuff. Idk what that says about me, and neither I care.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I don't vibe with them, sorry.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Again, no, as far as I can remember. But that's never cool, so don't even think about it. I vibe with so many things but not that :/

Nope! I had the idea to translate my own stuff to Spanish, but there wasn't an audience for that.

I'm very good at conceptual/poetic stuff. I'm a control freak (complimentary). I would die if I didn't nail characterization. AUs. Uhhhh babyfic. Compelling ambience.

Pursuing multichapter storytelling. I'm a control freak (derogatory). Dialogue. I can get too much inside my head. Not writing in my mother tongue, so not the best vocabulary. Writing when I'm sleepy (a sin).

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

For the love of God, do not use Google translate and take the time to consult the language you're gonna use if it's gonna be a recurring thing 🫶🏼 all my respect and love to writers who get to do their research, y'all are doing amazing sweetie.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

I used to (terribly) write anything I could get my hands on, so no idea? Could've been anime to a very niche flash game from the 2010s.

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

I'm never ever toping this tribute to flutterings. If I ever leave, I hope my legacy is this work, and it continues to haunt readers forever and ever and ever 🫶🏼

For the past five years, it has been iterations of A Song of Ice and Fire (the book canon, Game of Thrones, and House of the Dragon). Prior to that, I've written fics for Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing, Kingdom Hearts, Fushigi Yuugi, High School Musical, RENT, The Dresden Files, Harry Potter, Glee, and BBC Sherlock.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

the gather, the bend, the bringing forth (Game of Thrones S8 canon divergence)

some nights the lighthouse, some nights the sea (transatlanticism) (Game of Thrones S7 canon divergence)

the silhouette of a single memory (Game of Thrones reincarnation AU)

5. Do you respond to comments?

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Even before I started writing in the ASOIAF fandom, I did tend to write bittersweet endings. Loss and grief is a fascinating frame of reference for an otherwise happy ending and I've always liked being able to write about those conflicting emotions. That said, it was probably never let me go.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Haha, lmao—this is definitely the silhouette of a single memory and its adjoining prompt ficlets.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

My canon divergent fics for Game of Thrones sometimes get the rare grumpy butt but honestly, I pay too much in taxes to be bothered by someone trying to be snide behind the anonymity of a computer screen.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Sure? I think my smut is pretty tame compared to a lot of stuff I read but I do write it.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Yes, I've written plenty. Sailor Moon/Gundam Wing and Game of Thrones/The Vampire Diaries might be the craziest though, considering how ridiculously dissimilar the two canon sources are.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of.

the gather, the bend, the bringing forth has its beginning chapters translated into Russian here

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yes and no. My old RP partner @lyrangalia and I used to email RP during slow days at work and through that was born the AMD and Silvered Lightning universes. But since these technically never started as fic, then it's kind of in that weird uncategorized space.

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

All time? I'm not sure if I have a single one that takes the top spot. I've liked Tomberly (MMPR), Willabeth (POTC), Neal/Sara (White Collar), Parker/Eliot/Hardison (Leverage), and Jonerys (ASOIAF) but I love them all equally.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Hands down, Arcana. The reason I won't finish it is because I fell out of love with the source material (it didn't age well) and the author of said source material (he's kind of an asshole!). I do still love the character that this fic revolves around and it's removed enough from the source material that I could finish it but...

16. What are your writing strengths?

Characterization and dialogue, probably? Who knows.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Characterization and dialogue, lmao.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Eh. It can be done and I've done it a few times honestly. I don't make a habit of it because it's just a bit of a headache to translate.

13. Do you listen to music while you write? If yes, what have you been listening to recently?

Definitely yes. I have a, um... *checks* eleven hour playlist for Long Shot. I listen to it whenever I'm working on the fic - whether that's writing it, thinking about it, editing it, or rereading it. A song that grabbed me by the ears recently is a new one from an artist I love - it's not my favourite of her tracks by a long shot (heh), but I heard it and went, "ohhhhhhh it's An Una Song", and straight onto the playlist it went:

22. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?

Oh god, titles are a panic every time. I never have the faintest idea what to call anything ever. Lost Cause was in my WIP folder as, I shit thee not, Puddle of Mudd for so long that the terrible joke very nearly stuck. It then briefly became [REDACTED], which I thought was very chic for a whole couple of weeks, and honestly it might only have been the pressure of wanting to post what I had that made me switch to Lost Cause...

35. What’s your favorite fic you’ve posted?

A mean (and excellent) question! Favourite is not necessarily the same as 'of course', but ... I think, if you made me choose, it might be The Buran. I hadn't written any fiction for about a decade, and I managed (what I thought at the time) was a huge multichapter fic, full of characters I fell desperately in love with (and then blew up). If I read it back now, I can see how clunky it is in places. There's a lot I'd do differently if I were writing it now - except for the heart of it. That I wouldn't change for anything.

ao3 wrapped fic writer 2023

i know ao3 wrapped for readers is not a thing and frankly as impressive as it would be to see just how many millions of words i have read this past year, i don't know if i need to know just how much i hung around in the devil's sacrament shown back to me, ya know?

so i instead just wanna celebrate and focus on all the writing i was able to do this year up to nov 30 (today). this is just for posted stuff on ao3, obviously my wips folder (aka my lazy susan of drafts) is a different story LOL.

also, super important for me to point out: this is meant for celebration and pride! after having been on hiatus from writing for like 7 years, i'm so happy to be able to get back into writing again. with that said, if the numbers for your ao3 isn't as high as you'd liked, please just know that i'm still very proud that you wrote AND published your work to share with others. it can and does take a lot out of you to write and share freely like this. so if nothing else, you should know that! (and if you haven't written much at all this year for whatever reason, i'm still proud of you! like i said, it's tough sometimes but we should still celebrate ourselves)

16. What’s an AU you would love to read (or have read and loved)?

i cannot think of an au i would love to read rn (although i'm realizing i really love canon divergence, i love what ifs), so an au i have read and loved is this oofuri genderbend (cis girl Mihashi) and this knb genderbend (genderfluid Kasamatsu) (and i guess genderbends can be canon divergence, so we're back to that anyway haha)

genderbends in sports fandoms are really interesting to me in general

36. Do you visualize what you read/write?

i went and did some reading to see what i visualize, and i think i do spend a fair amount of mental energy on blocking characters in a scene even if details are not mentioned (i will just make something up), but i don't really think about the specifics of what they look like. and it really takes me out of a moment if a particular pose is mentioned and i think it's uncomfortable (any time someone puts an arm around someone else's shoulders), then i'm basically anticipating when they will move out of this pose that i think is awkward lol

does this mean that i prioritize this when i'm writing? no <3

i'm still in my knb era, so i gotta link Man-to-Man here is an excerpt under the cut:

“But,” says Takao, setting down his depleted milk packet, “what if I need to? We’re not going to have them forever, you know.” He looks at Midorima’s face. “When people go into teams with third-years on them, at the end of the year, the third-years graduate, and then-”

“I know that,” snaps Shin-chan, though Takao wonders if he does. Being on the same team for three years may have made the Generation of Miracles thoroughly sick of each other, but Takao sometimes misses his own yearmates, the ones who gave up in the face of Teikou’s supremacy, the ones who just didn’t aim as high as Takao has decided to. Even as uncomprehending and unsympathetic a comrade as Midorima Shintarou is better than standing on the court by yourself.

“Well, they’ll be going to a better place,” he sighs.

“...University?” says Shin-chan acidly.

Takao sighs harder. “Yes,” he says.

i just think it's so funny but also so well characterized. Like, Takao's joking around but then cut right in there's this insight into his thoughts and feelings that get a little tender, and then cut again immediately to him still doing his bit, just to annoy Midorima. i've read a lot of fic that i love and will re-read, but this really is one of the ones where i'm like [points] that's how i wanna write.
