Honestly, I just want to say that your writing is genuinely so enjoyable. I’ve reread beyond the unending night like 3 times (I only came across it 2 days ago) and enjoyed it more and more each time!

oh my god THREE TIMES???? over the span of two days??? i am both equal parts flattered and concerned (and this is mostly because it's rather lengthy at the 20k and... well time loop). that being said i really am glad you enjoyed it!!! like!! honestly and truly!! from the bottom of my little niku heart!!

'Shadow of Steel' - the 'ghosts' never left me...

Maybe it's because I've started wearing my 'Maxson coat' again for the fall/winter season (yes, I seriously have one IRL. I love this coat so freaking much, lol. It's ridiculous how much I love this coat, lmao. And I've gotten *SO* many compliments on it from people! But I digress...), but I've been thinking of 'Shadow of Steel' a lot lately (my 'Fallout 4' fanfic, for anyone who doesn't know).

Truthfully, I really never stopped thinking about it. Even in my busiest days, it was still always in the back of my mind. I never wanted to give up on it, and even when I thought I might have to just let it go forever, it was still lurking around in the back of my brain, demanding I continue the characters' stories (especially since Nora is still technically kidnapped in it and I actually feel bad about it, and Arthur Maxson hates me for it, LMAO).

I don't expect many people to still care about this fic - and considering how much time has gone by since I first started writing it, I wouldn't blame you. And it's not a short fic, either. It's quite long. So to anyone you might want to read it or start over from the beginning to refresh their memory of it, it's a bit of a feat.

Looking back on it, there's parts of the fic that I'm not crazy about - either b/c I'm not 100% thrilled with the way I wrote stuff at that time (quality-wise), or little tiny decisions I made with characters here & there. However, people who have commented on the fic have been sooo generous, kind, and flattering to me regardless, and I can't even put in to words just how much their words have meant to me (especially a review that I actually got kind of recently, to my surprise, and it blew me away... if you're reading these words now, I will respond to your comment as soon as I can! I haven't forgotten/ignored you! <3 )

SO.

Here's my 'thought': despite everything, I DO want to continue writing this fic! Even if no one read it, it's still something that's important to me - even if I can't put into words why, exactly.

If even one or two people reading this would be willing to continue enjoying a future of 'Shadow of Steel', I put it to you - would you rather see: - a 'rebooted do-over' of 'Shadow of Steel', starting from the very beginning - the main plot would be exactly the same, but small (insignificant in the long run) details would be updated/rewritten in a way I feel more satisfied with - and once caught up to the current point, the fic would continue from there. - OR - - I just keep whatever's already there there, and just continue straight on from this point.

Should I fix/update what I've already written and (attempt to) make the writing a little better, or just move forward? (I feel like it's similar to when an artist looks at a drawing they made long ago & thinks, '...My skills are different now. I could draw that better this time around.') Please let me know what you think, anyone! Your feedback would be greatly appreciated! <3

Don’t ever be afraid to read way back in time (I’m talking many years!) through someone’s AO3 works, and leave kudos and positive comments along the way. I promise it’s not weird or creepy or any of the things people sometimes worry about! This should be your rule of thumb-

If an author chose to leave a fic on AO3, no matter how old, they want it to be read and they want to know when you’ve enjoyed it! 👌

oh. my. god. i just randomly came across your blog and wow, i am absolutely taken aback by Lost In Translation. WOW. the first thing that caught be off guard was the mention of "Love and Limerence" it's one of my favorites! and oh god, the pace of the story was perfect for me. i got lost in the story while scrolling in tumblr during my project, and i haven't touched it since shdkjsahd. i absolutely LOVED it, every part of it! your writing style is so delicate and soothing, and the way you described love? the first instance of them about to kiss, literally sent butterflies all over my body! i felt like a teenager begging them to "KISS! KISS!" hahaha. the love-making scenes too didn't feel forced or extremely kinky, it felt just normal and right! it was the perfect balance. i don't usually send asks to writers but i really needed to appreciate how much i loved this one!

T_T omg you are too kind. i'm just a wee little niku.

i feel like my writing process is kind of. chaotic. i very rarely do outlines or anything like that. so it's honestly a miracle that my fics come out even slightly coherent. generally speaking, though, my fics usually are centered around a particular scene or character interaction and i build off that- how to get to that scene and what happens after.

that being said, my process may not work for you, and that's okay. i know some writers who are very meticulous about doing outlines and stuff like that. i think it certainly does help to write things down because you can really organize your thoughts. i just end up daydreaming the same scene over and over LMAOOO. it's all about finding out what works for you personally.

i guess that counts as a tip LOL.

i think also, and this is my personal belief, it is always best to write for yourself, write what makes you happy, and what you want to read. and the reason is that the only person who will 100% guaranteed read every single thing you write is you. i don't mean this in a pessimistic sort of way but like... you are your main audience!! cater to yourself and the things you like! the things that make you happy!! just have fun with it! and surely, surely other people who like what you have to write will follow! and on that note!! it is so much fun talking about fic to your friends. like sometimes i'll pop into my friends' dms and traumatize them with some fic idea i have (sorry moda).

i think ultimately, the most important thing is to have fun with it and enjoy yourself.

'if you don't know' was written on a whim when i was in my angsty feels one night and it was the first one i posted on my old acc. originally, even after seeing comments and requests for a part two i wasn't going to write a follow up part but then i went to the 5sos concert a week or so later. once again i was in my feels and got inspired, thus came 'lover of mine'.
