FDTD fic: hands, touching hands (SethKate, complete)
@myletternevercame and @tuntematonkorppi and I have been bitching about our feelings of want-to-write-but-no-not-that-only-want-no-actual-write for a while, and then I made myself write this, instead of, you know, any one of the 800 WIPs that I want to write.
And did I intend to finish this BEFORE New Year’s Eve? Probably. But as with You Squeeze My Hand Three Times, well, that didn’t happen and I ended up writing most of it DURING NYE instead. As one does. At least the words happened. The first week of January doesn’t count anyway.
Title from Sweet Caroline, and I am sorry that the song is now stuck in your head
hands, touching hands (read on AO3) one-shot, 5940 words
Of all the scars Kate came away with, the one on her palm is the one Seth worries the most. Literally. Aka: Seth Gecko just wants to hold Kate Fuller’s hand, the fic

Get Lost; Be Found
Get Lost; Be Found
Tumblr media
It wasn’t the first time Seth Gecko felt like he was lost and it wouldn’t be the last time, well then again maybe it would be. He was fucking cold and there was no end in sight to snow falling around him. He knew better than to sit down, but he was so damn tired. His legs were stiff and fighting through the snowdrifts wasn't getting any easier. He kept moving toward the obscure light in the distance. He could practically hear Richie’s voice in his head yammering about the odds of survival being better if he’d stayed in the vehicle. But Seth couldn’t risk being found in a stolen car.
The ground under the snow was uneven and while he’d been stumbling for the last, for however long he’d been walking, he finally tripped. He hit the cold snow face first. Fuck him. He was done. He closed his eyes and hoped hell would at least be warm when he crossed over.
“Are you happy now? He’s in your truck. You don’t even know the guy. What if he’s some kind of criminal?” There was an angry, male voice muffled, but close.
Oh, he wasn’t dead. He was warmer too. The whine of a heater and the smell of flowers was all around him.
“Kyle, I wasn’t gonna leave him in the snow. He was facedown and there isn’t a car for miles! He could have died! I’m takin’ him to the hospital and that's that. It’s fine.” A woman’s voice, possibly angrier than the guy.
Seth wanted to raise his head and look, but also didn’t want to press his luck. A hospital wasn’t really an option. One look at his wallet and he was as good as handcuffed or worse in a small town. Backroads were good for avoiding getting caught, until you got caught.
“Katie, I know you said going out into the world was good for you, but you’ve changed and you’re taking risks that the girl I knew would have never.”
“First of all don’t call me Katie, it’s Kate. Second, I am helping someone and I learned that in church. And third, it’s none of your concern what I do, I just needed your help with his weight”
“Kate, I know you’re this angry with me. But this trip was your idea.”
“This trip was my idea for us! Until you and I quote ‘didn’t mean for me to find out about her’ when I caught you naked on the couch with a girl you were supposed to be teaching to play guitar.”
“That’s not exactly…”
“It’s exactly what happened. And now you’ve got the nerve to show up with her to a trip that I planned for us. What did you think was going to happen?” There was a long pause then an exasperated scream from the woman, “You're a moron! You thought it was going to be okay if you were sleeping with both of us? I’m going to stay at another hotel tonight and then I’m driving home tomorrow, alone. You made your bed now you can sleep in it, with her, because you’re certainly never getting into my pants again!”
Hmm. Seth couldn’t help the smirk that formed on his lips. He was a sucker for a spitfire. The truck door slammed and a small hand pressed against his forehead.
“A little warmer. That’s good. Let’s get this other blanket on you. I warmed it up on the vents on my side.”
A soft and warm blanket was tucked around him. He tried to stay relaxed to fake being asleep but it was getting harder.
“We’ll get you to the hospital and they’ll be able to thaw you out better than me.”
He grimaced so much for enjoying the warmth and peace for a minute. He shifted and while startled to be nose-to-nose with the kindhearted woman. Her eyes were hazel. Kate had hazel eyes and looked like the-girl-next-door from all the best Hollywood films. He tried to ignore her panicked expression and kept his game face on. He narrowed his eyebrows and did his best to sound threatening. “No. No hospitals.”
She blinked. “The hospital won’t care if you don’t have insurance. They need to treat you if you come in.”
Oh, that was adorable. She thought he was worried about money. He tried to move, but his muscles burned in protest.
“I can’t go to a hospital. Hospitals call the law.” He had a gun on him, but he really didn’t want to point it at her. However, he also really didn’t want to get caught.
“Oh. Oh!” She looked nervous and glanced back at the other car, which was already pulling away. “I can give you the truck and I have some money, but I did save you from the cold, so I think it’s only fair if you don’t leave me out there to freeze.”
She was practical. He’d give her that. “I don’t wanna leave you in the cold. I just need to warm up and call my brother to come get me. Hand over your cellphone, please.” He wasn’t taking the risk of her just bailing out and calling the cops.
“What did you do?” She folded her arms over her chest.
“What?”
“What. Did. You. Do.” Kate spoke slowly pausing at each word before continuing, “If you’re a thief or someone just trying to make money that’s one thing. But if your a rapist or something, I’mma pepper-spray you and kick out you out of my truck.”
“You shouldn’t tell people if you’re going to attack them." He explained exasperated at her ill-advised warning. "That’s not a good strategy for dealing with a criminal.”
She arched her eyebrow. “Try to move right now.”
Seth ground his teeth and she was right. He could barely move.
“You sound like you’re from Texas. The winters are harsher up here in Colorado. I know how your body’s reacting right now. I don’t want to hurt you, but I also don’t want you to hurt me. What did you do?”
“Stole a bunch of cash with my brother. I was the distractions while he got away with the take.”
“Okay.”
“Okay?” Seth was confused. She was okay with him? Just like that? Who the hell was this girl?
“Yup.” She buckled her seatbelt and the truck lurched back onto the road. “I’m Kate by the way.”
He should give her a fake name. But did it matter? Probably, not, so he opted for abridged honesty. “I’m Seth. Where are we headed?”
“Well Seth, since you don’t want a hospital I’m gonna take you to the local ‘no questions’ motel.”
“You seem like too nice a girl to know about places like that.” He noticed the snow had stopped. How long had he been face down? He licked his lips, they lasted like cherries. That was weird.
“Gotta have a spot to party after prom, for ya know.” She blushed and fiddled with the radio.
Seth barked out a laugh and immediately regretted it. He started coughing and folded himself into a ball to try and stop it. Kate put a hand on his back.
“There’s coffee in the mug in the cup holder, you’re welcome to it.”
She removed her hand and he instantly felt colder. He took a drink of the lukewarm, bitter liquid and shuttered at how cold he still was. They drove in silence for a bit then the motel came into view. Damnit he was closer to shelter than he thought. He should have forced himself to keep going, kept this girl outta his mess.
“Keep your head down. Sign says there are cameras so it probably points out at the parking lot.” She clicked on the turning signal and the truck began to slow down.
“You a secret criminal? Seem to know alot about this stuff, Princess.” Seth pulled the blanket over his head.
She chuckled, “Naw, just listen to a bunch of true-crime podcasts. And I'm no one's princess, Seth. Just ask my ex.” She was out of the truck and back in less than five minutes. The truck reversed and rolled slowly until parking again. Kate sighed heavily. “This weekend is far crazier than I planned it to be.”
He pulled the blanket down and made eye contact with her. “Why are you helping me? I don’t understand. It’s one thing if you just thought you were helping out some dumbass in the snow, but you know I’m dangerous. Why are you doing this?”
She inclined her head to the side as if considering his words. “I guess, I wanna help you. Come on we need to get you warm and dry.”
None of that was a real answer, but Kate was out of the truck and opening the door on his side before he could question further. He managed to get his feet on the ground but stumbled immediately. Expecting to hit the ground again he winced, but instead, Kate grunted and held him up.
“Just shuffle with me. It’ll get better if you move.”
They managed to get into the small room and Kate helped him sit on the bed.
“I’ll be right back.”
Every criminal lesson he’d ever learned was screaming for him to pull his gun on her and keep her in sight, but he flopped on his back on the bed. If she bailed and called the cops, so be it, at least he wasn’t gonna freeze to death.
The door opened and he pushed himself up on reflex but failed to pull his gun because it wasn’t there…How had he just fucking noticed that? His hand patted the back of his pants where he'd left it, but nothing. Fuck, had he lost it in the snow?
“Oh, yeah, I took that when I got you into my truck.” Kate kicked the front door closed with her foot and was holding an armful of what looked like Christmas presents.
“You knew I was armed and you still helped me?!? Are you insane?!?” Seth was freaking out. He wasn’t gonna hurt her, but he could have. Where was this girl’s self-preservation? He could have murdered her or worse and she just helped him anyway? What the hell?
Kate looked annoyed. “It’s Texas. I have a gun, but it’s at my house. Although, I have yours so technically I am armed at the moment and you’re not.”
He blinked a few times as the situation fully set in. Seth was going with it, whatever was happening, was happening, whether he got it or not. “What’s with all that?”
“Well, we need to get you warm and dry. So you’re gonna take a shower and we’ll lay out your things to dry. But I didn’t figure you'd want to be naked. So you’re gonna be stuck with the pajamas I bought my dad for Christmas.” She started unwrapping one of the boxes, unshed tears clinging to her lashes. “Frostbite is a bitch and you don’t want it. This is an object and you are a person, regardless of whatever, you were up to before. You shouldn’t be left alone to suffer and die.”
His brain short-circuited for a moment. Why was she so worried about him? “Did I miss something? You okay?”
“You were almost dead.” A single tear ran down her cheek, as she looked into his eyes. “I saw you in the snowdrift but I panicked. Thought it might be a trick to rob me, so I called Kyle, my ex-boyfriend, because I knew he close by. Then I sat there in the truck and watched you while I waited. I realized you were too still. I got out to check on you in spite of everything and you weren’t breathing. I almost let you die, because I was worried about getting robbed.” She drew in a shaky breath, “I was more worried about my purse than a person. What’s wrong with me?"
She was clinging to the white box in her hands like a lifeline as if she had something to feel guilty about. "I gave you CPR and thank god you responded. Kyle pulled up as you gasped and then I saw the gun. Everything just happened so fast.”
Her voice was barely above a whisper. “If you save someone’s life, you’re responsible for them. I couldn’t just let you die.”
Seth toed off his shoes and forced himself up to his feet, unsteadier than he liked. He paced over to the still-trembling girl, resting one arm against the door over her head. He leaned into her space and tipped up her chin, before kissing her forehead. “Thank you, Kate.”
The boxes clattered to the floor and she wrapped her arms around his waist hugging him tightly. Seth looped one arm around her, but the other arm he kept braced against the wall. He didn’t trust himself to hold his entire weight.
“This is so stupid.” She muttered into his chest. “I don’t even know you.”
“Just makes you a good person. I on the other hand am a bastard. But for the time being, I owe you, so I’m your bastard.”
Kate’s laugh was instant, which made him smile as she warned. “Don’t give me that much power.”
Mischief sparked in Seth’s eyes and he forced her to look at him, “Why? You wanna take advantage of me?”
“Um, you should get in the shower and warm up.” Kate’s cheeks instantly stained pink. “Get your wet clothes off for sure.”
“Okay.” He smirked and took half a step back shrugging off his coat and loosening his tie before dropping it to the floor. He didn’t miss Kate's hard swallow at his movements. “Might need help with the buttons. My fingers aren’t working all the way.”
“Sure.” She moved back into his space, biting down on her lower lip as she undid the buttons to his waist. “I’m just gonna untuck this okay?”
“Yeah. I trust ya. Thanks for the help.” He couldn’t keep smile off his face, not that the blushing woman could see it, as her eyes were on the fabric directly in front of her.
“You’re…you’re welcome.” She finished the buttons and went to move away, but he looped his arm back around his waist pulling her flush to him.
“Katie, I just thought of something.”
“Mhmm.”
“I’m gonna need you to test the water before I take that shower. I might not know how hot it is, that would be bad.” He calculated the risk and cupped her cheek coaxing her closer, ghosting his lips over hers. “You wanna help me with that shower, Princess? I can show you how grateful I am for the rescue. No strings, no pressure.”
.:. 8am .:.
Richie Gecko knocked on the motel room door. Jesus, he hated the cold. Seth, missing a shirt and wearing the gaudiest pair of green Christmas-themed sleep pants he’d ever seen, opened the door.
“Did I miss something?” He adjusted his glasses as he entered the room and shut the door behind him. “You rob one of Santa’s elves for a new outfit?”
"Limited options available." Seth rolled his eyes and patted the suit hanging over the motel heater. “Almost dry.”
Richie was even more confused looking around room at the unmade bed and wrapping paper all over the floor. “Did you steal someone’s Christmas presents? That’s wrong, even for us.”
He might have continued his rant further but the bathroom door opened and a slip of a woman exited came into the room sporting a top that matched what his brother was wearing.
“Hi.” The auburn-haired girl offered a meek wave.
“Seth.”
“Richard.”
“Did you kidnap a girl?”
“I saved him from freezing to death actually.” She lifted her chin, “and my name is Kate.”
Richie was exasperated.“I left you alone for less than twenty-four hours. How did you almost die and pick up a chick in that timeframe?”
“I have a particular set of skills.” Seth bit into a piece of jerky and offered a piece to his brother who waved it away.
Kate giggled and covered her legs with the motel bedspread.
“Is this a thing now?” Richie questioned.
Seth shrugged. “If she wants it to be.”
Kate smiled as she braided her hair back.
“You are,” Richie smacked his hand on his forehead, growling at his brother, “as bad as a Disney princess. Five minutes and you catch feelings.”
“It was longer than five minutes.” Kate supplied then yelped and pulled the blanket over her head to hide in what was likely embarrassment.
“Great. Compliment him.” Richie deadpanned before admonishing, “I hope you’re happy, 'cause he’ll never want you to leave now.”
“She can cook and she has a truck we can use to get over the border.” Seth flopped on the bed next to Kate.
“And now we’re a trio.” Richie took out his pack of cigarettes. “I’mma go smoke both of you put on some more clothes while I do that.”
***
A gift for a friend. Listen, I don't know if this is what you had it mind. It went all off the rails. Anyways. I had a blast writing it and I hope you enjoy it.
Love to my Loves.

12 SethKate Headcanons Fanfic Gave to Me (+ fic recs)
Post-series From Dusk Till Dawn fanfic gives SethKate shippers even more to scream about, because of course it does. Writers in the fandom, unwilling to leave the pair’s ending up to interpretation, have published some truly spectacular continuations of and twists on Seth and Kate’s story. Along the way, these creators have established some pretty solid and widely adopted pieces of SethKate fanon.
As someone who’s recently binge-read dozens of fics on AO3, I can attest to how easily they can be accepted as fact. (Like, seriously, try to change my mind.)
1. Seth’s urge to protect Kate doesn’t disappear after Matanzas–if anything, it grows stronger.
2. He knows full well that he doesn’t deserve Kate, but Seth wants to give her the world anyway. She has him wrapped around her finger, and absolutely everyone understands this, including him.

“You’ve gotta be kidding me!” Kate repeats, shifting a gaze of such delight from one brother to another as if they just told her the best joke in the world.
“Do I have to show you my goddamn birth certificate?” Richie rolls his eyes indignantly, but it’s hard to tell how genuine that indignation is. “No one ever believes…”
“Take it as a compliment,” Seth suggests as he opens a bottle of beer and hands it to Kate. The bottle is cold as hell, and Seth’s fingers feel extra warm in comparison when Kate brushes against them with her own. “Maybe people are dying to learn your skincare routine, but they’re too shy to ask.”
“Oh, I’m sticking to the Dracula: Dead and Loving It technique, not everyone can afford that…”
“Like you used to look oh-so-mature before, Big Brother.”
“It’s not about Richie looking younger,” says Kate, warming her bottle between her knees. Richie is already chugging his beer with all the carelessness of someone who doesn’t have to worry about catching a cold or any other diseases of the mortals. Seth is chugging his with all the indifference of someone who doesn’t give a shit if he catches a cold or not. “It’s about you looking older.”
“She’s right, Seth,” Richie observes merrily and reaches out to ruffle his brother’s hair. Seth pushes his hand away without looking. “Hey, you’re already going grey a little bit.”
“And whose fucking fault is it that I’m already going grey, Richard?”
“I think that’s genetics.”
“I think no one’s hit you with a bottle opener for quite a while,” Seth waves that very opener eloquently, but he doesn’t try to stop Richie from touching his hair anymore, which the latter proceeds to do. Kate cannot help smiling when she looks at them, but a mild sort of sadness scratches at her heart at the same time. She misses Scott. She misses the times when she wasn’t scared to touch people first, remembering the way her touch – no, not hers, but still that of her hands, that of her body – used to suck out their strength, will, and soul. Never mind, she tells herself, and finally dares to take a sip of that icy beer, never mind. At least now she has her gloves.
At most now, she has her hope.

i didn’t know if you’d care if i came back (i have a lot of regrets about that)
summary: kate can’t leave seth, even if he wants her to.
a/n: this is also available on my ao3 and i would worship the ground you walk on if you commented or gave me a lil kudos over there https://archiveofourown.org/works/51804403
Tumblr media
Kate had been driving for a whole day before she slams her foot on the break, angrily sighing and putting the car in reverse. She makes her way back to the motel, thumbs nervously tapping the steering wheel and blood still caked onto her face.
He’s probably not even there anymore, she thinks.
Before she knows it she’s pulling up to their room. The light’s still on, so Kate’s hopeful that he’s still there. She grabs the bag of money Seth rudely shoved into her arms the day before and uses the room key she still had to get inside. Surprisingly, he’s still there. He’s passed out—high as a kite, but he’s there. She locks the door behind her and closes the blinds, sets her bags down on the table and makes her way towards Seth.
Seth. The name sounds bittersweet on her tongue.
Seth. The man who kidnapped her and her family. The man who had a gun pointed at her head, more than once. The man who hijacked her family vacation. The man who protected her from monsters. The man who came back for her and her daddy even though he didn’t need to. The man she ran away with. The man who aggravates her to no end. The man who makes her feel safe and not alone. The man who holds her late at night, whispering words of comfort as she falls asleep.
Kate doesn’t really understand how Seth can be all of those things to her. How can the man who took her hostage be the reason she’s able to sleep at night? She doesn’t like to dwell on that thought, likes to file it away in her mind and do her best to ignore it.
She’s tucking pillows on either side of him, something she started after Seth shot up and almost choked on his own vomit. Once Kate is done, she grabs her bag and walks into the bathroom. She turns the shower to the hottest setting it has and starts to peel off her bloody clothes, which now feel like they’ve grafted to her skin. The shower lasts until the hot water runs out, scrubbing her face until it’s red and the skin is irritated. When she’s done, she decides to forgo her own dirty clothes, instead choosing to steal one of Seths undershirts and putting on a clean pair of underwear. Kate knows he’ll be knocked out for at least a few more hours, so she settles on a chair at the table and flicks through the channels on the tv mindlessly until she finds something decent to watch while she waits for him to wake up.
The first Lord of the Rings movie had just ended and the second one was beginning. It was in Spanish but she’d watched the series enough to know the words well enough in her head. When she hears Seth waking up, she mutes the tv and kneels on the ground in front of the bed where he’s laying, her hand finding its way to his cheek.
Seth smiles when he opens his eyes, thinking he’s hallucinating. When he sees the concern on her face, he realizes he’s not hallucinating at all. Pushing her away, he staggers to the other side of the room and rubs his eyes with the heels of his palms. “Thought you left.”
“I didn’t leave.”
He tilts his head, “You literally drove away.”
“Yeah, I did. After you stupidly gave me your half of the money. And, you know, after you literally walked away from me?”
Seth thinks he might be going insane. “Are you actually here right now? I’m not still high? Or dreaming?”
She’s taking small steps towards him now, her hands balled up into fists like she’s trying with everything she has not to knock him out for being so stupid. Instead, she softly replies, “Yes, I’m really here.”
There’s a pregnant pause, like he’s trying to figure out if he believes her. “Why?”
“You’re all I’ve got, Seth. And maybe it’s fucked up but, I care about you.”
The confusion on his face is evident, because Kate Fuller is too good for a common thief like Seth Gecko. Why the fuck would she come back for someone like him? He doesn’t think he’ll ever understand it, but he’s grateful for it. Doesn’t even think he can manage a coherent response. Instead, he pulls her in for a hug, his neck craning down as he settles his face into her neck, breathing in her scent. Strawberries and peaches. He lets himself enjoy the one-sided hug for another moment before he pulls away.
“That is pretty fucked up.” He’s trying to ease the tension, he fucking hates emotional talks, but even he can agree that that was probably one of the dumbest responses he could’ve come up with.
Kate just wordlessly glares at him.
Seth sighs. “Jesus…I’m not good at this.” A beat. “I’m sorry. For everything. I didn’t mean what I said back there. I was pissed and I took it out on you. You were in danger because of me, almost died again because of me. I thought you’d be better off.”
“I’m alive because of you. If you weren’t there, I’d be dead.”
“Rafa saved you.”
She sighs, “He’s dead, Seth. Do you really still need to be jealous of him? You’ve saved me other times and you know that. If the danger of being with you scared me that much then I never would’ve asked to come with you.”
“I’m not—”
Kate raises a brow, telling him I know you’re lying without saying a word.
“Christ… Okay, maybe I was. That’s not– that’s not the point. You’ve been put in so much danger since you met me. Doesn’t that bother you? I literally kidnapped you and got your family killed. Why are you even still here?” Seth questions, still in disbelief that an angel such as Kate Fuller even wants to talk to him, let alone have any kind of relationship with him.
“Of course it bothers me. You can’t even begin to understand the weight of this, of how I feel. Like I’m betraying my family. What happened isn’t your fault, I know it would’ve happened whether you took us or not, but I still feel guilty. Still feel like I’m betraying them. And more so I feel insane for finding safety and comfort in the man who took me as a hostage.” Kate can still see the confusion on his face and sighs, dragging him to the bed. She settles herself on his lap and places a gentle hand on each side of his face, forcing him to look her in the eye. “I don’t fully understand it, maybe I never will. But I can’t imagine my life without you and I don’t want to. Maybe that’s just how you know you love someone, but we’re in this together whether you like it or not.”
Seths entire body stiffens, his hands placed firmly on Kates hips. “I don’t–I don’t understand.”
“Seth Gecko, listen to me very closely. I love you. And I know you probably think that’s naive and crazy and I probably have stockholm syndrome and how could I possibly love someone who took me hostage but, I do. I love you. Like, really love you. And whether you admit it to me or not, I know you feel the same.”
A few minutes pass and he finds himself staring at the muted tv in front of them while Kate fiddles with the hem of Seths shirt. He knows he feels the same. He’s known it for months. He also knows he’s a bastard and a bad man and everything Kate shouldn’t love. She’s an angel and he’s an old man who drove away with her. He took her because he wanted her and ended up ruining her life, her family. Her fathers dead and her brothers a blood sucking monster just like Richie. It’s all his fault even though she’s constantly telling him it’s not. But he’s selfish and always has been.
He doesn’t deserve her or her love, but he takes it anyway.
Because that’s just who he is.
He takes and takes and takes.
And Jesus Christ he loves Kate Fuller and doesn’t think there will ever be a time in his life where he doesn’t. So, he swallows what pride he has left and tells her because she deserves to hear it; whether he’s ready to admit it or not.
“I’ve never loved anyone more.” And it’s true. He hasn’t been in many long term relationships, and even though he used to try and convince himself that he loved Vanessa, he didn’t. Not really. Especially not like this. Not like the blooming he feels in his heart when Kate so much as looks at him. With both hands cradling her face, he spills his heart out to the girl in front of him. The girl he loves. He thinks it’s weird to say out loud. Hasn’t said it (and meant it) to anyone but his brother in years. He thinks it’s kinda liberating.
Kates heart skips a beat, her eyes widen and she lets a soft gasp escape her lips. “Really?” Seth nods, pulling her arms to wrap around his neck while he hums in response. “Wow. I must be pretty special, huh?” The brunette smirks at him, teasing.
Seth chuckles at her joke, “You’re somethin’ else, you know that? Yeah, angel, you’re pretty special.”
Kate just fucking beams at him. Pearly whites sparkling in the moonlight that spilled in through the curtains, her dimples making her look absolutely adorable.
They bask in their confessed love for a moment, a pink hue finding a home in Kates cheeks–giddy with happiness. She leans in to whisper, voice filled with nerves. “Does that mean you’ll finally kiss me?”
Seth scoffs, cause what kind of fucking question is that? “Princess, I thought you’d never ask.”

Fuck it. Richie Gecko/Kate Fuller Fic Recs.
In honor of From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series being pulled from American Netflix, here's some of my favorite Richie/Kate fics. I have no excuse, take me to fiction crimes court. These are all on AO3, mind the tags listed there. I'll try to add additional content warnings where I can, but assume everything is baseline canon typical fuckedupness, which is very fucked up! Also there is multishipping in a lot of these. Unfortunately there are not any here that let Kisa get fully in on that multishipping potential so that's a bummer. Guess I'll have to write that myself because I see the vision in Kisa/Kate even if no one else does.
Also since in Season One Kate is seventeen and Richie is, at least according to the wiki, anywhere from twenty-two (unlikely) to twenty-seven (more likely) tack on Underage as an Archive Warning to basically all of these unless they are extremely AU. And not a single one of these in anywhere in the neighborhood of fluff, it's PWP and angst all the way down. Enjoy!
El Rey By The Dashboard Light by sharkygal (Rated: E, Words: 7,452, Chapters: 1/1) - Season One AU. What if Richie caught up with Kate after their kiss?
Myth Maker by grayglube, hasitsclaws (Rated: M, Words: 11,182, Chapters: 1/1) - Season One AU. Tanner sacrifices Kate in the labyrinth. Deliciously fucked up undead body horror ensues <3.
The Long Con Series by grayglube (Rated: E, Words: 12,165, Works: 2/2) - The Geckos are gods, Kate is kidnapped as a virgin sacrifice for Richie. Serious dubcon warning on this one
Her absence is like the sky, spread over everything by Gaya (Rated: T+, Words: 2329, Chapters: 2/2) - Character study-ish of Richie after Kate's "death" in the interim between seasons two and three. As someone who was sort of raised both Catholic (by family) and Baptist (spent a couple of deeply traumatizing years in an evangelical elementary school that was rightfully shut down, but that's a another really long story) this has a scene that really tracked with that extremely specific life experience so I have to give it a special shoutout.
A different kind of undead by sassylorastyrell (Rated: T+, Words: 6,911, Chapters: 4/4) - Zombie apocalypse AU! Honestly mostly a jealous SethKate fic from Seth's perspective but that's what just does it for me I guess!
Kinesia by venus woman and giant saurian (grayglube) (Rated: M, Words: 1019, Chapters 1/1) - Kate gets a lap dance.
The World is a Snake Pit by venus woman and giant saurian (grayglube) (Rated: E, Words: 2238, Chapters 1/1) - set nebulously post season 3, now with joint murder and fingering.
Quarrel with the sky by grayglube (Rated: E, Words: 6379, Chapters 1/1) - Post Season 3, Kate/Seth/Richie in every possible combination. This is my headcanon end to the series. I also really love Scott in this and him being completely rightfully disgusted and annoyed with the Geckos at all times. Content warning for some references to anti-Asian racism (and in Seth's case outright racism) that is framed as bad and tracks with the canon portrayal of Scott's banter with the brothers but could still be upsetting to readers.
take your time with me to make you feel alive by meditationonbaaal (Rated: E, Words: 51,905, Chapters 8/?) - honestly so iconic of this author to drop this masterpiece, one other work in this fandom, and then thirteen Riverdale fics.
And You Were Still Hungry by grayglube (Rated: E, Words: 4081, Chapters: 1/1) - Post Season 3, Kate is not doing well. Richie tries to help. Does he? Up to you.
Final Liturgy by grayglube (Rated: E, Words: 7573, Chapters: 1/1) - Post Season 1 AU. Kate becomes the new Santanico but with a very Christian twist and it's the set up for more great problematic porn with religious overtones
Voodoo Cowboy (Bid My Blood redux) by larkingstock - RECENTLY UPDATED (Rated: E, Words: 28,592, Chapters: 6/?) - sex pollen oneshot redone into some multichapter wild Richie whump with hallucinations of every major character written very in character as they tell him whatever it takes sink him into even deeper angst. I love it.
Holy Diver by grayglube (Rated: E, Words: 9481, Chapters: 1/1)- gratuitous loss of virginity, god bless. bittersweet. More Seth, Richie, Kate in all possible combinations.
Kansas City Shuffle by grayglube, hasitsclaws (Rated: E, Words: 54.909, Chapters: 6/?) - Season 2 AU, Kate is turned into a culebra at the blood well. Body horror, murder, sex, all that good stuff.

FDTD fic: one step forward (SethKate)
Oh hey, it's me, with a new fic. Surprise!
I’ve been trying to write any one of my 8 million WIPs since I got back from camp but the words just were not working, and then I got to thinking about the Kalinda section of ‘you squeeze my hand three times’ and maybe doing like an AU of that from Seth and Kate’s POV but that wouldn’t really work, so I decided to start writing and let the characters decide where they wanted to go. Which apparently was here.
Of course, it took me like a week to get these two assholes in bed and start making out so I could wrap this thing up, because they just.kept.talking.
one step forward (complete) word count: 4,877 summary:
They’re exhausted and more than a little traumatized, but at this point, at least they’re alive and they’re safe. They can deal with the rest later. Kate and Seth, two soldiers finally home from the war.

The Rise of Dark Kate
(Or...maybe I'm trying to re-write Season 3 based on Blood Magic theories, doing the women better, and Kate is not possessed but it's DARK)
*Warning dark and violent content referencing sexual assault, murder, adult themes and language* (Also limited editing. LOL)
The Rise of Dark Kate
There was no gate of heaven that opened as her consciousness faded from her body. There was nothing, she hooved between realities as the rage was pulled from her. She could not cross into her paradise until the rage had faded. She couldn’t form thoughts in the Between but felt herself letting go of the anger for those who had wronged her…for those that caused her death. There was peace and safety just out of reach, she could almost smell the flowers that grew in her mother’s garden. She could hear her father’s voice disembodied and muffled, but still calming and loving. She was going to pass into the other world. Peace. Finally rest.
Pain! White-hot, searing pain ripped her away from the Between and thrust her back into her flesh. A cord of blood, uncoiled and slithered through the open wound in her palm. She shrieked in agony, back arching as slivers of wood drove themselves into her flattened palms.
“NO! NO!!” Her voice cried out, breaking in anguish. There was nothing but pain. Her lungs were compressed. Unable to breathe under the dirt she’d been buried under for centuries. Her body pulsated; blood gushed onto the platform from where she’d been shot as the living tendrils of blood sought to replace what was leaking out. That maniac Carlos had shot her. That monster Richard Gecko had let her bleed out. Her brother, Scott? That coward had just watched her die.
She screamed again, the sound echoing in the darkness as footsteps approached. The blood moving through her was liquid fire; searing wounds closed and knitting her organs and skin back together. She kicked her legs, trying to run to the place of peace she was desperate for but it was gone. There was no smell of flowers, no kind voice, no light, and no god. Her knuckles scraped against the platform, arms tremoring from the tautness in her muscles but she pushed herself into a sitting position.
Blood dripped from her eyes and nostrils as she heaved in new air. Her screaming had depleted her desperate lungs from oxygen and she needed it. And she sucked it in ignoring the sickly copper taste in the air. She needed air. She needed relief. She needed…
“Oh, may the gods be praised. Hear I thought I was returned to collect the scraps of prophecies but you’ve risen from the dead. Oh, sweet-sweet Katie-Cakes, look at you. How could they leave you here…”
The disgusting monster was beneath her in a flash. A knife was already in her hand, her knuckles white on the hilt as she gripped it.
Tanner had transformed on instinct, but he regressed to his human form as he attempted to calm her. He was still a monster. Maybe a worse monster before the culebra curse.
“Whoa. Whoa. You’re right. You said not to call you that. My bad.”
There was power in whatever was in her veins now. Whatever had pulled her out of heaven’s grasp was strong. And it wanted…
“Kate. I can help you, the thirst isn’t going to go away on it’s own. I can help you. Oh, how I can help you.” He smiled. A killer’s grin.
She pinned his arms over his head and he didn’t seem to be able to fight her. She ran the blade over his neck drawing a thin line along his jugular but didn’t pierce it.
“Oh hey, hey now. Let’s talk about this.”
Her neck cracked as she inclined her head to the side and stabbed the knife into the platform beside his neck. She smacked her palm with the open cut to the injury she’d just given him. She needed to see.
Tanner’s eyes rolled back in his head as she tore through his memories like flipping through pages of a book. So many girls taken advantage of, who had been scared with him standing over them. Frightened girls, whose fears he’d lapped up like an overheated dog. Power. He’d wanted power over them. He’d wanted to be beyond human. He’d ripped them apart and still won. He shouldn’t have won.
His labored breathing refocused her attention on the present. He was still under her. Kate unclasped his buckle and worked one-handed to undo his jeans.
“It’s always the quiet ones. I bet you are kinky! I shoulda asked Richie about…AHHHH!!!!” The pervert’s words were stolen and he screamed in pain. Almost passing out, but she wouldn’t allow it.
“Look at me.” She ordered, spitting blood into his face as she shoved the removed appendage she'd just removed into his open mouth. “Choke on it.”
She gripped the knife and drove it into his chest. Ash and fire rose around her as professor Tanner, the rapist and murderer ceased to be.
“Be forgotten. Be nothing.”
Thundered rumbled in the distance and her stomach ached. She was hungry, but not for blood, despite the foreign blood and new power she wasn’t a culebra, she was something else. The rain started to fall and she turned her face up to the sky as she stripped out of her clothes. Naked she allowed the downpour to cleanse the blood from her skin. She needed more. She needed…
The RV. She stepped up into the machine, searching through long-ago packed bags until she found clothes from her old life. She remained naked but tossed the bag out the door before returning to her search. She found the hidden bottle of alcohol that her father had left there and she held it up as lightning cracked illuminating the rucked-up space. This would do.
She tore a towel in half and stuffed it down the bottle’s neck and clicked on the burner. She lit the towel on fire and threw the bottle onto the bed watching the flames catch. After a moment she walked back out into the rain, her hand moving to the cross around her neck as the fire intensified.
Yanking the chain from her neck and she dropped it to the ground watching the RV burn. Still naked, her hair whipped around her face in a frenzy as the wind and rain continued. She wanted one thing and one thing only. Those sacrificed to the false gods would be avenged. She was going to cleanse this world. She only wanted one thing: revenge. Not like a sniveling village girl that had tricked the masses into believing she was a queen.
Kate would have true revenge. She threw head back and laughed as the RV’s gastank exploded and it continued to burn.
Part Two
---- Now before we go any further here. IF I continue this. This is going to stay DARK. I'm not sure if I'm even going to have a pairing here or if it's just gonna be A LOT of murder.
I have more typed up for this, but it needs editing. This is the first fandom thing I've done in a spell. And it's been a lifetime since horror was in my sights. I'm kinda liking this. But again: IF I continue it's gonna be spread out and DARK. I might post to AO3 if there's enough interest.
I've missed you all but I'm not gonna lie. I'm proud of myself for working on my own books over the past couple of years.
Love to my Loves.

"Gravestones Are Fragile"?? 👀
Oooh! That is Chapter 3 of The Road is Long (and Home is Gone) which is my From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series x The Vampire Diaries crossover! It has a very similar premise to Addendum in that they both have the lead female character, Elena Gilbert, verse hopping into another show's first season but The Road is Long is much less structured and much shorter (because the show is shorter!) which makes it easier to write and therefore more fun to me.
And while Addendum was born out of the way I watched Supernatural with my grandpa (explaining how an episode would go if Elena was there because he wanted to know why I shipped Elena with Dean Winchester) The Road is Long was born purely out of my desire to save a side character who dies in like the second/third episode, Monica, the bank teller! Elena is there when the Gecko brothers rob the bank and volunteers to be their hostage so no one else gets hurt because she fucking would lmao.
All of the chapters of this story are from poems I love, "Gravestones Are Fragile" comes from a poem by Russian poet, Anna Akhmatova, the title of which escapes right now...it might be one of her untitled poems. Edit: OH it's "Poem Without a Hero".
Seth gestures between the two of them uncomfortably. “Looks like a whole lot of bonding went down in here.” Richie nods vaguely. “Elena’s cool.” But Seth's not so sure how much he trusts his brother right now so he looks at her for confirmation. She raises one shoulder gracefully. “I’ve had worse kidnappers.” She offers up her past misfortune like it’s a high compliment. Richie points a fry at her. “But you’ve had better too, am I right?” She laughs, but nods. “Well, I mean, there were shots and burgers and pool, that’s a hard one to surpass.” She smiles somewhat fondly. “That was a good night.” Seth stares at her in amazement. “You think so fondly of all of your kidnappers?” She shakes her head seriously. “Not at all, that one just ended up being a pretty good time. Plus, you know, I kinda dated his brother.” “Huh.” He grabs his drink. “You are a fascinating girl, Elena Gilbert.” She grins. “Trust me, the less you know, the better.”
